The ultimate rapid language-learning guide! For those who’ve despaired of ever learning a foreign language, here, finally, is a book that will make the words stick. At thirty years old, Gabriel Wyner speaks six languages fluently.
He didn’t learn them in school — who does? — rather, he learned them in the past few years, working on his own and practicing on the subway, using simple techniques and free online resources. In Fluent Forever Wyner reveals what he’s discovered.
The greatest challenge to learning a foreign language is the challenge of memory; there are just too many words and too many rules. Fluent Forever tackles this challenge head-on. With empathy for the language-challenged and abundant humor, Wyner deconstructs the learning process, revealing how to build a foreign language in your mind from the ground up.
Starting with pronunciation, you’ll learn how to rewire your ears and turn foreign sounds into familiar sounds. You’ll retrain your tongue to produce those sounds accurately, using tricks from opera singers and actors.
Next, you’ll begin to tackle words, and connect sounds and spellings to imagery, rather than translations, which will enable you to think in a foreign language. And with the help of sophisticated spaced-repetition techniques, you’ll be able to memorize hundreds of words a month in minutes every day.
Soon, you’ll gain the ability to learn grammar and more difficult abstract words–without the tedious drills and exercises of language classes and grammar books.
This is a fantastic book for anyone looking at tackling the learning of a foreign language, regardless of how many languages you have already learned! If you’re not sure where to start, it provides excellent and systematic direction, detailing where and how and why your time will be best spent.
If you’ve learned languages before, this information will still help streamline your efforts, and help you avoid common pitfalls. It would also be of incredible value to teachers of second languages.
I particularly love the tips on memorizing genders – instantly applicable, and they work! I will definitely be using it for my own learning and for teaching. It is informative, humourous and provides insights into how our minds work, what makes memories memorable and how to apply these principles to your language learning in order to maximise your language gains.
It provides extensive lists of recommended resources, and additional materials are available at www. forever-fluent. com Chapter 1. Introduction (includes the three keys to language learning) Chapter 2.
Upload: Five Principles to End Forgetting Chapter 3. Sound Play (Train your ears, mouth and eyes) Chapter 4. Word Play and the Symphony of the Word (includes tips for memorizing gender) Chapter 5. Sentence Play (On Arnold Schwarzenegger and Exploding Dogs: Mnemonics for Grammar) Chapter 6.
The Language Game (Setting goals: your custom vocabulary) Chapter 7. Epilogue: The Benefits and Pleasures of Learning a Language The Toolbox: The Art of Flashcards; Do-it-yourself Pronounciation Trainers; Your First Words; Using and Learning Your First Sentences; One Last Set of Vocabulary Cards A Glossary of Terms and Tools Appendices: Specific Language Resources, Language Difficulty Estimates; Spaced Repetition System Resources; The International Phonetic Alphabet Decoder; Your first 625 Words; How to use this book with your classroom language course.
i found Fluent Forever was quite well written, it has quite a bit of humor mixed in and every technique is explained well with examples. i have taken a lot of advice related to learning another language from the book, and i am finding it quite fun! the styles of studying discussed in the book can be applied to other subjects like science ^_^ He emphasizes using flash cards, which i actually agree with as i have been using them too! the book provides a beginning point for starting (starting is always hard especially if you dont know where to start) to learn a new language in your own time and encourages you by providing facts and stories of his own experiences, he also gives a time scale which to expect to learn a language so we dont expect too much and get discouraged ^_^ i loved reading it, it was easy and funny.
I bought this book after studying Portuguese for 9 months. I was doing ok but this book caused me to rethink my methods. It completely breaks down how learning works and would be useful to anyone trying to learn anything, not just a new language.
Encourage kids to discover the 220 most commonly used sight words with this fun and fast-paced educational game. Phonics and alphabet ABCs are great ways to introduce your toddlers and preschool boys and girls to the wonderful world of learning reading and sight words! For children ages 5+, an educational toy for reading keeps little minds engaged and stimulated as early learning educational games and puzzle toys playtime!.
I bought this for my reception age grandchildren as it has phases 2-6 high frequency words. This is a fun way for the children to learn to recognise the words they are learning in school carpet time and in their reading schemes.
Our children love the swat bats and setting out the good quality bug word cards. Having played individually and together a few times Ive seen increasingly quicker and more accurate word recognition of the words in the appropriate stages.
Because it is fun they want to investigate words in later stages which is giving them greater confidence in reading. Both have moved on in the reading scheme in part Im sure to the fun they have playing this game.
I wanted a game to inspire my son to practice his phonics skills, as he often tries to find anything to do other than reading! So I was super excited to see this game. It links with the letters and sounds phonics and has loads of colour coded sight words.
So you are able to choose the level of play appropriate to your child. Three of my children aged 4-8 gathered around the kitchen table for a game of swat! I was very impressed to see the game engaged and encouraged even my most reluctant child to read.
Having played a few games my sons phonic knowledge has come on leaps and bounds. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun alternative to learning phonics.
I recently purchased this game for my first grade classroom! I bought it as a “Word Work” center, but it has turned into so much more. I have a college-aged volunteer who comes into my classroom on Mondays and Fridays.
She plays it with my students in small groups. It’s a huge hit with general education students, as well as my special needs students. It’s a highly engaging, interactive way to reinforce all 220 Dolch sight words.
I highly recommend this game for all K-2 classrooms!.

Whether you’re at a party or looking for a way to keep you and your friends entertained on a long road trip, this deck has enough cards to last you and your friends for hours.
The Icebreaker Deck is fantastic for getting to know new people and create friendships through shared experiences and vulnerability. Every deck contains 150 conversation cards broken into six prompts deep, experience, if you could, would you rather, life, and random that you can shuffle from or play with one specific deck.
Spark unforgettable conversations and deepen your relationships with the BestSelf Co.
For Valentine’s day this year, I hosted a Zoom call for professional coaches who are all single and looking for a partner. These are people who know how to communicate well. We had folks from all over the world.
The person farthest away was in Asia and the closest person was at my house. I used the Icebreaker Starter Pack and the effect was awesome. I don’t know if any romances took root that day, but every one said they had a great time learning about each other.
We had some deep, meaningful conversations inspired by the cards. I would totally make my Icebreaker Starter Pack and Deeper Talk regular tools whenever I need to build rapport quickly with a group or individual.
So I decided to get these cards to inspire some conversations with the young men in my life. WOW!!!! We had such a good time pulling the cards and reading them. It gave me so much insight into my two boys life (one is 17yo and the other is 22 yo).
It was great to spend time and have genuine bonding time with my son’s. I definitely recommend purchasing the cards and starting conversations with anyone. So glad I made the investment and I look forward to using them again.
I like the concept and it’s certainly a useful deck of cards, but the questions are largely boring or unusuable, very few excite you into starting a conversation. It would be good to add some more ‘fun’ questions, e.
g. “Would you ever take part in a threesome”. That’s not a great example, I’m just saying there are many types of question to get conversations flowing, and these ones are not ideal. Also the cards are large and bulky (too thick).
I would prefer a more compact format to make carrying them around easier.

Mastermind had the better price of other retailers too !.
I received the Kanoodle Genius Game from Educational Insights to review and I love it! It is one of those games that is great to play by yourself, but it is also one that everyone tries to steal from you so they can try it.
I love puzzles and games that really make you think and Kanoodle Genius is definitely a game you have to think about. It has easy puzzles and it has puzzles that will really get your brain working. There is also multiple ways you can play the game.
You can play a 2D game or you can flip it over and complete a 3D puzzle! The game comes with 7 different shapes, each with their own color. There are 202 different puzzles to try with 2 different levels of play.
To play the game you pick the puzzle you want to beat, set up the pieces on the board to match the picture and then add the other pieces until they are all used and the puzzle is filled. It amazes me that the pieces can fit so many ways! I think my favorite part about the game is the 3D puzzles.
It takes a couple tries to get used to the set up, but once you get it you can have a lot of fun with it. I personally have never really played with 3D puzzles, but they are my new favorite because of this game! You can play for hours and never get bored because each game is different! This game is great for kids and adults! Everyone can have fun with it!.
I received the Kanoodle Genius Game from Educational Insights to review. This game is great to past time when you are alone. My husband really loved this game. He loves puzzles and games that makes him think.
This was right up his ally. Kanoodle Genius is definitely a game you have to think about.
It shocks me that there are so many ways for the pieces to fit together.
The thing about this game that I find the neatest is the 3D section. It took a few times to get it set up, but it was well worth it! You can play for hours and never get bored because each game is different! This game is perfect for kids and adults both!.
Four sturdy chalk sticks and four durable chalk holders come in this multicolor first chalk set. Adjustable plastic holders have a ridged ball end that’s easy for beginners to grip as well as a textured band to encourage emerging tripod grasp, so it’s great for all ages and abilities.
The handy holders also help keep chalk dust off of hands no matter how you grip it! When chalk wears down, it’s easy to adjust the holder, making it possible to get every last artwork out of the green, red, blue, and yellow chalk sticks.
These are awesome. My 15 month old love them. I just say the word “chalk” and he gets excited. They are easy for him to hold and his hands don’t get a mess. The colors are vibrant on the sidewalk and a great way for him to start learning his colors.
We love this chalk! Wish there were chalk refills for the holders. Other chalk isn’t as bright or as easy to draw with. We just keep buying the sets because we like them so much!

Designed for 1-4 players, this educational toy for 4 year olds comes with multiple fun ways to playtest yourself with solo play, challenge a friend with head-to-head contests, or turn classroom spelling lessons into a fun group game.
As a stay at home/homeschool mama, educational toys are always a win-win in here! That being said. my 4. 5 year old sometimes struggles with attention span to finish a game, or sit with one toy for too long.
The ABC’s can become repetitive when trying to teach with flash cards or tracing activities. The Alphablaster was not only engaging but fun for the whole family to take turns! I have other learning resources educational games and have always been so impressed with the level of engagement my son gets with their products versus other brands.
We’ll be alphablasting for many years to come as our family grows!.
My 6 yr old son loved this game! He had a lot of fun that he even made up his own games with it too. The only thing that was hard for him was pushing the shooter down to release the ball. He’s on the weaker side for strength and had a hard time unless I helped out.
Teaching your child how to hold and use a pen is a key skill that you can encourage with this wipe-clean workbook from Roger Priddy. On each page there is a simple activity to do, and the exercises build in complexity throughout the book.
Included with the book is a special pen, and the wipe-clean pages enable children to practice over and over to improve their pen control and writing skills. With bright photographic images to engage and encourage, this early-learning workbook will support your child as they prepare for school.
My son used this book and his penmanship is beautiful even as a 7 yr old boy. I just gifted it to my nephew and am hoping he enjoys it too. We brought this book everywhere – airport/airplane, church, weddings, road trips.
It’s light and the book stores the pen so you can grab and go. I’ll be getting one for my 10 month old when she turns 1.
I bought this book for my 4 year old sister. I want to make sure that she is prepared for kindergarten. My goal is that she is ahead of the other students. I bought this book and several other ABC/Math and Puzzle worksheets (from the target app) for mind training.
She’s is not ready for those yet. However, this is definitely going to help introduce her to those things. I am satisfied with this purchase as she is already working on her tracing right from the beginning.
My three y/o grandchild loves following in siblings zoom school class footsteps by being busy with the great practical & fun My three y/o grandchild is excited to follow in the footsteps of older sibling taking zoom school classes by doing their own fun & interesting “class assignments”.
Book is sturdy quality, of course, it might be useful to try an overlay of vellum or mylar is you do think pages might get used extensively or if the dried vis-a-vis pen marks are too harsh to clean.
Scholastic Early Learners: Interactive books for hands-on learning. Perfect for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and first graders, too! Write and Wipe ABC 123 shows children how to write the letters of the alphabet (capitals and lower case) and for each letter, provides pictures and words for children to trace.
For the numbers, there are objects to count and both the numeral and the number word to trace. * Perfect for helping children who are learning to write their letters and numbers. * Comes with a wipe-clean pen that clips into the book.
* The glossy board is easy to wipe clean, so that children can have lots of practice. Scholastic Early Learners: Interactive books for hands-on learning. Perfect for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and first graders, too!.
Outside of the book, this pen is permanent. So if it gets on your kids clothes, it’s there forever. It ruined one of my son’s shirts. I hate this book because my son likes to write in it, but it is like having him use a permanent marker.
I have to watch him like a hawk. Would not recommend for any child under 4.
i thought this would be a great idea for my toddler. the one i received is all scuffed up and have been used as a writing board. i could see and feel all the indentations for when someone used this as a writing board.
i paid for a new one and i do not want it to come used. I am just so mad with this purchase.
This is like a large board book with extra glossy pages that wipe clean very easily. The pictures and graphics are great. All the letters are there and numbers up to ten. My 4yo is having a lot of fun with it.
Sometimes she writes the letters, sometimes she just draws on the pictures. Either way, she is engaged and happy. I’ll see about getting her another one if she starts to tire of this one.

The science behind how food is changed by salt, fat, acid and heat is truly amazing. We don’t need fancy ingredients, just a love of food, which was reiterated by Samin Nosrat which I couldn’t agree more.
Such a great book to have on hand whether you’re a novice or a chef. Definitely recommend this book for those who enjoy a good read.
This book is a must have for every cook’s library whether a new or experienced cook. You might not think a book that goes in to detail about the science of cooking is an interesting read, but it truly is fascinating and fun to read.
Bought it for myself and then gave one as a gift. This is bound to be a classic and earn its place right next to my all time favorite cooking classic Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. If you could only choose two cookbooks to own.
those would be the two. This is an amazing book with lovely illustrations and some good recipes too.
This book provides the basics of what cooking is about and assists in understanding of how to enhance our food preparation using the elements that we all have in our home ie Salt,Fat,Acid,Heat. Its informative in a way that you do not need a degree in science.
Its presented in a way that is like a friend who discusses “kitchen things ” with you. and who has a sense of humour! The language is understandable and the drawing illustrations are a combination of art ,doodling and notetaking(the latter which means one does not have to take your own notes!!).
There are many “I didn’t know that ” moments as well as ” I have to remember this” moments. Highly recommended.

Well made and sturdy while hanging on the wall. Plenty of additional blank cards too for adding special events etc. Love it!.
My daughter’s one request for homeschool was to have a calendar like they have at school. This was just as expected and my kids love using it and keeping up with their dates. So many holiday and extra markers that you can definitely utilize this in a classroom setting.
Only qualm would be the lack of storage for so many extra pieces but it’s a great item so no knocks on stars for that.

Knowing how far you hit with each club is the key to playing better golf, but how well do you know your stats? Get the data points you need to improve your game like the pros with the ESB1 Launch Monitor.
This portable tool connects to the free ES Range app on your smartphone and uses the latest 3D doppler radar technology to capture accurate data on every shot. It’s a whole new way to improve your game on the green and at the driving range.
The ESB1 provides you with 5 of the 6 data points right on the display so you can track shot distance, ball speed, club speed, smash factor, and spin rate. Within the ES Range app, you can analyze your launch angle and use assisted shot trace technology to fine tune your game.
The app also lets you review videos with shot data overlay graphics, view data from previously recorded sessions, and test your skills with interactive challenges and games like Capture the Flag and 5 Shot.
ESB1 is easy to control completely hands-free using simple voice commands. Quickly change club selection, start swing recording, and change shot direction in an instant without interrupting your focus.
The compact, lightweight design makes it convenient to bring with you to the course or the driving range. The addition of a long-lasting lithium-ion battery provides up to 12 hours of use per charge so you can track your shots all day long without interruption.
I found this product to be as accurate as any of my previous monitors. The unit provides instant feedback on all data points which is a really nice feature. I also like that the unit sits 4 feet behind the ball instead of it on the side.
Used this next to the professional model at my club and there was very little difference in carry or total yards. I would say this is a great value at a very reasonable price.
TranslateShow in original languageDas Gerät gefällt mir.
Bei mir erscheint immer nach dem ersten Schlag die Meldung: „Unit Mismatch, Device do not match with the selected unit.
Think and learn Alpha SlideWriter brings hands-on fun for children to learn how to write and spell in a mess-free way. With the movable tiles, children can touch each of the letters and slide them around to make a word.
Then they can use that word as a model to practice writing, letter by letter, on the erasable screen. Printed guide lines on the screen help preschoolers know where to cross their Ts and dot those Is.
The specially designed pen guides preschoolers into a correct and comfortable pencil grasp to help them develop important fine-motor skills. And when they’ve mastered that grasp, simply remove the triangle-shaped grip and store it on the back of the writing pad.
Plus, the pen is conveniently tethered to the writing pad to prevent it from getting lost. Alpha SlideWriter is designed for children 3 to 6 years of age. Remove the triangle grip and store on the back when your child is ready ? Low-mess, magnetic screen with printed writing guide lines to help beginner writers The moveable letter tiles allow kids to make their own words! Stylus grows with your child, helping preschoolers hold a pen the “write” way every time!? Easy-slide eraser let’s kids practice again and again!.
My baby girl was nervous to start school this last year with her writing and letters not all that great yet. We found this and it has helped tremendously. And not only is baby girl learning but she is actually enjoying it ans having fun woth it as well.
I love that the pen is made to grow with her as she develops and grows. And the letters are movable so once they get the writing part down they can then start to learn to spell and copy certain words too.
It’s easy to carry and we take it on trips and in the car on long rides to for something to keep her busy. If your looking for something to help your kiddo with their spelling or even just writing letters this is exactly what you’ll need.
This is good, my 5 year old is enjoying it while she learns to write. From an educational perspective having lower case would be much better, but I knew it was uppercase from the pictures. The slide up and down that rubs it out isn’t great, she needs to do it quite a few times to run the writing out.
But she is definitely enjoying it and it’s a great learning device for learners who prefer hands on techniques.
Imagine an 8-week program that can help you overcome depression, anxiety, and stress–by simply learning new ways to respond to your own thoughts and feelings. Now you can get the benefits of MBCT any time, any place, by working through this carefully constructed book. The expert authors introduce specific mindfulness practices to try each week, plus reflection questions, tools for keeping track of progress, and helpful comments from others going through the program.
Like a trusted map, this book guides you step by step along the path of change. Guided meditations are provided on the accompanying MP3 CD and are also available as audio downloads. Note: The MP3 CD can be played on CD players (only those marked “MP3-enabled”) as well as on most computers.
See also the authors’ The Mindful Way through Depression, which demonstrates these proven strategies with in-depth stories and examples. Plus, mental health professionals, see also the authors’ bestselling therapy guide: Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression, Second Edition.

Well, I suppose I have depression, but not as a result of blaming myself for everything – so it’s a pleasant relief to find a book about depression that doesn’t automatically adopt that approach. I haven’t been through the whole thing yet, but an initial look suggests that it is intelligently written and potentially quite helpful.
This workbook is a practical set of approaches/exercises to exploring and deepening your mindfulness experience and practice. As a chronic pain sufferer mindfulness (and this workbook) helps me manage and accept my situation.
The workbook can be used almost casually or as part of a longer, potentially supervised, program of exploration & learning.
Enjoyed this workbook, found it very helpful. Working through it at my own pace. I found the 45 minute body scan too long so found shorter ones on you tube…
It’s way past time to upgrade your flashlight game from that flimsy plastic thing you’ve been potentially trusting with your life. Instead, your gear bag needs the Stealth Angel Tact-1200: a beast of a tactical flashlight made from aircraft-grade anodized aluminum that’s waterproof, shockproof, and nearly indestructible.
It works in water, it works after being run over by a truck, and it will work in the backcountry or in an emergency scenario when you absolutely need it to. Five ultra-bright light modes and a beam focus feature let you dial in the exact illumination you need in any situation, while easy one-hand operation and rugged construction make this flashlight a joy to use.
Finally, the ability to charge via a wall socket helps avoid constant battery purchases and makes it more likely you’ll have light when you need it most. Staying Safe Walking Home At Night Do you know someone who constantly feels unsafe walking to their car, the bus stop, or even their front door at night? The Stealth Angel Tact-1200 unleashes an immensely powerful beam of light that removes fear from both urban and wilderness environments.
If necessary, you can disorient attackers with the powerful strobe feature that can provide crucial seconds to escape and signal for help. Let There Be Light Your Way The Tact-1200 is packing up to 1200 lumens of illumination power, an incredible amount of luminescence that can turn even the darkest night into a clearly lit environment.
On top of that, 5 different lighting modes let you dial in the perfect brightness level for your surroundings. Rugged, compact, and long lasting, the Tact-1200 is a no-brainer addition to your kitchen drawer, glove compartment, and outdoor gear bags.
It’s time to update every flashlight you have, once and for all. Product Features 1200 lumens of powerful LED light Virtually indestructible aircraft-grade aluminum housing Waterproof, lightweight, and durable tactical design Included battery charger (and rechargeable battery) Product Pictures.
The Stealth Angel is NOT as bright as my very old Dorcy brand light. The Stealth does not have a low battery indicator and will leave you in the dark unless you charge it often. It’s inconvenient to remove the battery every time it needs charging and hard to get the battery in the cheaply made charger, especially if you have hand issues like arthritis.
Dorcy lights charge with a USB cord like a cell phone and have the capability to be charged in your vehicle or your house. You can also charge your cell phone from the Dorcy light in case of an emergency.
I will NOT be purchasing the Stealth again unless there are lots of improvements made to it.
I have bought two of these. Great for night outings. For us, just walking the dogs for their pre-dawn or post-twilight constitutionals. Not sure how long the batteries will keep the lights on from a full charge and that also depends on the light mode.
Purchased a NiteCore SC4 charger to better track battery condition (internal resistance) and mAHr of capacity. Not sure how good the built-in USB charging regulators are regarding getting the most out of your battery life.
I needed some addition led torch lights and was stunned at how expensive they’ve become. What looks like a good deal ends up being the light without a battery. Stealth became a clear value. Solid build.
Bright light. String battery. And a surprise, it comes in a waterproof plastic case. Perfect for camping & boating. I have them scattered throughout my home.
Live by your own rules – Robert Greene, the ‘modern Machiavelli’ debunks the prevailing mythology of success and presents a radical new way to greatness. Charles Darwin began as an underachieving schoolboy, Leonardo da Vinci as an illegitimate outcast.
The secret of their eventual greatness lies in a ‘rigorous apprenticeship’: by paying close and careful attention, they learnt to master the ‘hidden codes’ which determine ultimate success or failure.
Then, they rewrote the rules as a reflection of their own individuality, blasting previous patterns of achievement open from within. Told through Robert Greene’s signature blend of historical anecdote and psychological insight and drawing on interviews with world leaders, Mastery builds on the strategies outlined in The 48 Laws of Power to provide a practical guide to greatness – and how to start living by your own rules.
Robert Greene’s books challenged the Pollyanna in me and I had to take of my rose-tinted glasses to take an honest look at the less salubrious aspects of how humans really think and operate. His books can shock but they definitely fill a necessary gap in the self-help genre.
Mastery is really solid and a must-read for anyone about to embark on a new career or contemplating a change of direction. Reading this expanded and challenged my thinking. Lots of good content as well as valuable information about how to find a good mentor – something that we don’t do enough of, yet critical to developing life and career ‘Mastery’.
Its a great book but when I took it out of the box it looked like someone already read it. The words on the back were a little faded and it has a few wrinkles and scratches on the cover. Its not in bad condition but definitely not in brand new condition like it says.
The book arrived on time and fairly acceptable condition. However, the book had glue stains from already removed store stickers (they are hard to remove). Also, corner of the front cover was severely bent and it ruins the shine of the book.
Would you like to learn electronics, with an all-in-one board that has sensors and LEDs built in? Circuit Playground is here – and it’s the best way to practice programming on real hardware with no soldering or sewing required!.
I can’t speak highly enough of this board. It’s an all-in-one, reasonably priced board that has a ton of built-in capabilities. A standard Arduino can do lots of things and is great for learning, but 1) most Arduino boards do not do much without connecting them to other modules, and 2) the Arduino IDE can be pretty complex for computer novices, especially young ones.
On the hardware side, this board offers a ton of functionality: capacitive touch sensing, light and brightness sensing (which can also be used for color sensing and pulse sensing), an accelerometer, infrared communications (to read and/or mimic TV remotes, for example), a microphone and speaker, thermometer, two customizable buttons and a switch, and 10 individually-controlled multi-color LEDs.
All of these are supported by a chip featuring an ARM Cortex M0 core, similar to an Arduino Zero and much more capable than the standard entry-level Arduino Uno. On the software side, you use MakeCode, CircuitPython, or the Arduino IDE to program the board.
MakeCode is a browser-based beginner’s learning environment that is highly visual, mostly point-and-click, and capable of great things. CircuitPython is a community-supported implementation of the beginner-friendly but extremely powerful Python programming language.
And the Arduino IDE allows you to program your board in C++ when you’re ready for advanced projects, and you can bring those skills to dozens of other development boards. Plus, even when you’ve grown out of the board as a learning tool, it’s still a hugely useful board with a ton of ready-to-go hardware to test ideas with or integrate into a wearable project.
I bought these to tech my kids programming with sensors, lights and to give them a general understanding of how all these electronics around them work. The Adafruit web site and MakeCode are great resources, the kids loved the ability to drag & drop code segments te develop simple applications.
The best project was a hand washing timer with a visual countdown with lights and an alarm when done. They loved all the contacts where they could connect them to LED lights or bananas (yes, bananas) to play music.
Very good product. The only negative: I was unable to load v5 of CircuitPython on it and get it to function. v4 worked for their purposes though.
This is a great little board packed with plenty of sensors and input/output methods making it great value for its cost. It is ideal for those just starting out on a coding hobby as in its original state it can be programmed with Scratch-like blocky code.
Once this has been mastered it is a very simple operation to update the device to run CircuitPython and finally to move on to Arduino IDE for maximum low level control of the components. Most owners will use it in the CircuitPython mode and there are plenty of educational resources on the maker’s website, including an easy to follow, 211 page, guide which explains in simple terms, with example code, how to use the LEDs, light and temperatures sensors, microphone and speaker.
I was given one for Christmas and I’ve had a great deal of fun reading the sensors and programming it. It can provide hours of fun for young and old (I’m 74).
