20 Best Way To Label Keys (2023 Updated)

This was an interesting learning experience. I was split over whether to buy a more expensive printer than I could connect to over USB, or a cheaper one I had to type everything into. I have to say, simpler option fits my requirements better.

I think the USBconnected printers, which also print larger traditionalsized labels rather than strips of tape, are better suited to businesses addressing envelopes etc. Theres only so much you can type onto one label, and factoring in the time cost of booting a computer etc against switching on a handheld unit, its actually faster for its niche.

It would be nice if it could store a few labels and scroll through them itd also be nice if there was an option to wipe the display in one command. Uploading your own clipartsymbols would help, too. The labels I replaced didnt use clipart, so its not a major limitation.

If I had bulk labels to do, I could still print them via a computer and a printing service. I have a lot of sorting out and organising to do, and handwriting each label, slowly so its legible, onto postit notes, cutting them to size and sellotaping them on so they stay put, is a right pain.

This machine speeds all that up, and I have a nice clear label that not only I can read at speed, but thats clear to other people as well. Ive also been able to label the cupboards not all of them, just where things are that other people ask for Mugs, spoons, the fridge, and so on.

The tapes do sometimes jam, and when they do, thats usually goodnight to the tape reel concerned, but Ive found this usually only happens when the reel is almost usedup anyway. The tapes are actually contain three tapes together The background tape with one side sticky, the backing layer which peels off, and the print layer, which gets heatbonded to the background, and is stored inside the tape cassette after its been used.

This also means the tape wont go allblack etc if it gets heated, like normal thermal paper printers. Its interesting how small the actual print head is. Most of the tape reel is used for storing tape, and for dispensing it in a smooth reliable fashion.

Theres a trick to peeling off the backing, BTW It splits along the middle, so bend one end of the tape widthwise, and a corner will lift off Grab that, and peel off that section entirely. Then turn the tape around and repeat the process for the other section.

Been using label makers for 4 decades – craft containers, baking jars, plant tags, etc. Own many makes and my Brother was the go-to but the tapes got super expensive. So I tried the DYMO 160 and wish I’d owned one years ago! The tapes are affordable, and there are a variety of colors on ZORO and other sites to choose from.

The best part is the split backing which makes it super easy to remove from the adhesive side. I use the Black on Clear for white containers, clear glass and plastic containers, etc. Has an auto-off that saves the batteries and packed with features.

I’ve read reviews that complained about the sophisticated levels of options, but thats actually a feature that allows a compact tool to offer way more options than surface buttons would allow. Love the qwerty keypad, big enough buttons to easily navigate without mistakes.

For the price there is no better label maker on the market!.

Ive been meaning to get a label machine for years but always thought it would be one of those things you print a few labels for and then put to one side. Whod have thought there would be so many things that needed labels its quite addictiveArrives in some simple packaging with a sample label cartridge mine was black text on a white background.

The machine takes 6 x AAA batteries although I believe you can buy a power adapter either way you will need something to get you going with it. In use its really simple, one compartment for the batteries to go in and another one for the cartridge to go into.

Nice soft touch keyboard with font sizes, styles and orientation horizontalvertical and a button on the side for cutting the label. Simply type your text and press the print label button. Doesnt seem to be a lot of excess label either side of the printed text but Im sure you could use scissors instead to trim the label down.

Labels in the pack seem to be sticky enough to stick to cables, plastic and light switches so happy there. Power consumption is low but has a power saving mode that switches itself off after a while.

This is an excellent and very useful clip. I use it on my Victorinox SAK, as well as on my vehicle key fobs. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because it takes a concentrated effort to hook it on your pocket.

Once hooked it works extremely well and keeps your hooked item from dropping to the bottom of your pocket.

I love this little key organizer. The biggest advantage, to me, is that I don’t have keys poking me in the leg anymore, as they are folded up inside the KeySmart. I do recommend getting the “Extended Option,” aka longer attachment posts to be able to hold more keys, because keys attached to opposite sides can block each other, making it more difficult to extend the key you want.

Also, although I like having a bottle opener for emergencies, but it is connected to the loop ring you attach your car key, meaning the bottle opener cannot be fully extended if anything is attached to the loop ring.

In fact, the loop ring is a problem even if you don’t have the bottle opener, because it blocks rotation of any key attached to the same attachment post. All the more reason to get the longer attachment posts, and then put all your keys on the post without the loop ring.

this little clip is very small. It is also very difficult to open. Actually I cannot get it open at all to clip on anything. I thought I could attach it to my purse but it’s way to difficult. disappointed.

I like the AdirOffice White Plastic Key Tags. The size is not too large to carry in pocket, not too small to lose easily. The white plastic is easily written on with a sharpie. We use these for house keys in construction business.

The key tags make it easy to keep up with every house’s keys.

I got these key tags recently for our key storage locker at work and they work perfectly. They are easy to assemble. The tags can be written on with permanent marker without smudging. They hold two or three keys without any problem.

I would definitely recommend these key tags.

I received the AdirOffice – White Plastic Key Tags to try and review. They work exactly as needed. They are sturdy and not too large but large enough to write on and still fit in your pocket. The length of the clasp is easy to manuever.

I bought these to hang on the key holder in my laundry room. They are the perfect size for what I need. The label is a little tricky to get out and back in but nothing that I couldn’t handle.

Little difficult to get paper tag out to write on it, crumpled more then came out smooth but All good. Everything is nicely labeled now and I and happy.

Used for both keys and flashdrives to identify what was on flash drive and then hang on hook where easily accessible.

Got this for labeling pantry containers, kids lunches; it does great job; ordered additional labels of a different size; it was a challenge to figure out how recognize new sizes which was annoying however when fumbling through that process I ran into a scan feature that is wickedly fun.

Now instead of typing in labels I have the option to hold my phone up to package, it reads label, shows what’s captured, ready to print.

This is my first time buying one of these key lock magnets and I have to say it’s worth the 9. 99 I paid for right off the bat. It allows me to take off my mail box key without having to turn off my car engine.

Which is a huge plus for me and the sole reason I bought it. It has just the right tension to keep my keys on the keychain and can hold up to 3 lbs of weight on the magnets. Purchasing the titanium ones gives you a greater magnet strength if your looking for the ultimate hold.

However the black version is very good and all you need for the average person. It’s small compact well built and strong. Everything I need in a detachable keychain. It’s worth every penny. You cannot go wrong with this purchase that’s for sure.

I carry my keys in my pocket, so sometimes the magnets will pop apart and then attach to the keys, themselves; not a big deal, as everything stays in my pocket. I do have to pay attention when pulling my keys out, however, and adjust if necessary.

It’s a very minor issue. Recently, I shifted the MagConnect to the bands on the facemask I wear when grocery shopping, to relieve the tug by the straps against my ears. It’s great to get that quick-release when I get back to my car.

This is brilliant! I love just being able to grab and tug to dislodge my keys from my purse to lock/unlock my door. But the magnet is STRONG. I have no worries about it somehow coming loose or falling.

I’m rough with my bags and sling them all over haphazardly and they’ve not come loose yet. Definitely wanting more so I can put them on all my bags/keychains for easy switching. :D.

These are initial impressions: All the literature in the box in so many languages was scant and unhelpful. I registered the product online with ease, but the Brother website was unable to connect me to the Download Manual link.

I did find this very quickly via a straight Google search. I printed out the 17 page download and cheerfully altered the “Printed in China” caption to “Printed in My Den. ” The manual is clear and helpful throughout, providing all the necessary information.

It’s a lovely machine to use. The cassette loads easily and everything is easy to learn. I was soon printing out good labels galore. The only thing I haven’t beaten yet is label length, so I guess the length and check via preview always before printing.

In “Auto” and “Faceplate” I never got any message of character “Overspill” etc. Instead, the machine seems to reduce the character size to fit label length, this to a inappropriate size for labeling.

So that Preview Button is very important. In every other aspect, I love this machine, especially the comprehensive range of characters and styles. I am also glad I bought the machine with supplied AC adaptor.

The carry case could have been much better design for the packing of the cable and spare cassettes carried better. I like my purchase very much and hope it will give many years of good service.

Great printer and makes very good neat laminated labels. a few things you should know. It wastes a lot of your label tape, because it makes 2 blank sections either side of the words you typed, around 5.

5cm per label wasted. over a full tape you will probably throw half in the bin? i dont know if other printers dont do this? Not really an issue for me because i dont print lots of labels, if you do then this might not be the best item for you.

Also it needs 6x AAA batteries, the printer doesnt come with any, so make sure you purchase some. On the plus side its well built, easy to use and prints very good labels It can print Normal, Bold, italic and outlined text with or without shadows.

symbols, arrows and also useful symbols for electricians etc. It can print normal straight labels or tag type for wrapping round cables 3 font sizes (Small, Medium and Large) and of course upper and lower case letters.

Easy to install new label tapes, back comes of easily and pop it straight in, no other set up needed. Ive given it 4 stars, would have been 5 but for the tape it wastes.

nice neat unit. cannot leave any id tags on the keys as it will block closing the unit door. probably needs to be manufactured with a greater depth. Land Rover keys are too long so will need to rearrange system to suit.

found it difficult to load key code but somehow was successful after a time.

Perfect to organize the extra keys and fobs for our fire station. Also able to restrict access to certain keys. Lots of quality tags to use for organizing as well. Only problem is that it came with just one key to get in the box.

Will have to change the lock on it to get multiple keys for it. Other than that it is nice. Note: this is not a high level security lock box. Will only keep honest people out.

We have been using these cabinets for years and recently added another two. It would be great if the hooks were a little longer, but otherwise they are well made, secure and durable. I also use the small version at home to secure my car keys at night.

Over all its great but, the plastic locking does not keep locked making my keys fall off and losing them. This is a poor design and they should not have plastic for the lock instead use a small metal of same material….

I was thrilled when I found this product. Between work and personal, I have to carry a lot of keys and it’s always been a pain. I bought several of these to organize my keys, thinking this would be the answer to my frustrations.

I was wrong. The configuration of the S clips does not allow for any “twisting” amongst the keys. The keys will twist and push against the key next to it and when the angle is just right, it will push the spring open.

This allows keys to fall out of the clip they are in. I ended up losing 2 keys and dropping several others that thankfully I saw fall. This happened on several different occasions. As a business owner always on the run, this was a very frustrating experience.

These S-biners do not have a locking mechanism so they do not stay on the keyrack and keys fall off frequently. this can be quite frustrating when you have “do not duplicate” keys that are expensive to replace.

Concept is great, but would not recommend.

I went hiking with my wife and hung this off my belt loop. Overall, I thought it was a great product, but when I got back to my vehicle I noticed my Toyota transponder was missing. Here the black plastic lock fell off and the tab moved freely back and forth.

I have no idea where my key is. This was not a cheap key ring and the transponder is a $300+ item to replace & reprogram as the dealership just informed me. Would of thought this item would of been better QC’d in production.

These black locking tabs are not anchored very well. Very disappointed.

I love the key chain. However, Autozone employees put it on the wrong hook which made the price read cheaper. The cashier called for the manager BRIAN. Well Brian Ridley asked the cashier what the problem was and she tells him the ketchain is hanging on the 5.

97 hook. BRIAN takes the keychain in his hand looks at it then slmas it down on the counter and told her to give it to me at that price. BRIAN clearly needs more training for being a maanager or perhaps a new career.

Because of BRIAN I will never darken this doorway again. Thanks for lousy service BRIAN. You are truly not the way Autozone customers deserve to be treated. You are very rude BRIAN.

I really liked the KeySmart key holder. The directions were a bit lacking but I figured it out. I wish it was made of aluminum or a steel but I understand it’s lightweight. Don’t tighten the screws too much because you’ll have a difficult time accessing your keys until you adjust the screws.

But, overall I’m happy to have made the purchase.

This is the best idea in keeping keys neatly in order and compact in your pocket. This is the first product that keeps keys from poking my leg when in my pocket. No more torn up pockets either. I got the flex model in hopes that a little give in the unit would be more comfortable in my pocket.

Im very satisfied with this product and have recommended it to friends and family. Try one and see for yourself how much better carrying keys is.

I tried to fit 5 keys and it’s pretty conjested and clunky. I foresee myself chipping my nail polish trying to get the keys out. But overall, the design is slim and space friendly.

From the moment I opened the box, I fell in love with this useful and stylish key ring. While the design is simple, that is what appealed to me as the function (holding the Apple AirTag securely) is paramount to any other attribute.

The fact that it fulfills the functional requirement while also having an elegant design is icing on the cake. While I was concerned that the plastic/rubber material on the outside of the keyring might snag/drag on clothing (making it difficult to insert or take out of a pocket) it actually glides into my pocket without a problem.

The fact that it holds the AirTag without adding much additional bulk makes it ideal. I couldn’t be happier with the product.

Ladies and gentlemen, what it boils down to is this is simply a piece of plastic along with a metal key ring. There is absolutely nothing special about this other than that the hard plastic shell will keep your AirTag nice and protected from dings and scratches and allows you to place them on a lanyard or secure them to a keychain.

The main disclaimer is don’t pay the maximum price for these ever because again, it is just a piece of plastic with a metal ring Put them in your cart wait for them to go on sale and snap them up. Don’t ever pay full price for these from Apple.

Prior to this I was using a silicone generic AirTag purchased online. You would slip the AirTag in and out of the hole by stretching it. It worked fine but didn’t seem the most secure. This Belkin case and key ring seems much more secure.

The case is actually two pieces that separate and lock into place over the AirTag. You then secure both sides by slipping the key ring over the hole. This seems like a much more secure solution for my AirTag.

The only thing is it’s made of plastic. Time will tell how durable it is attached to my keys and rattling around in my pocket.

I bought the 48″ and the 36″ Keybak Super48 models. I have about 19 keys of assorted sizes plus a detachable key ring. The 48″ unit worked ok. After extending the keys for use, the cord sometimes let the keys hang about 6″ lower than the base.

In other words, it could not retract all the way due to the weight of the keys. When I removed some of the keys, it worked perfectly. Now, I found out about the stronger spring on the 36″ unit and bought it.

After using the 36″ unit, I am very pleased with the retraction of keys. If I pull the keys out for use and let go, it will snap back to the original hanging position without sagging. The only downside to this is that the strength of the spring makes using the keys while extended a little harder, as the tension is constantly trying to pull the keys back into place.

I would rather have too much tension than too little as I hate saggy keys. The feature of the ball and socket locking mechanism allows the usage of more keys than is recommended, so the 48″ model worked for my extra key weight.

The problem is that I simply got tired of constantly reaching down to lock, then unlock the keys. I prefer auto retraction over using the lock. Also, the loss of 12″ of extension may make a difference to some as some keys may need more reach to get to.

For me, I didn’t notice any difference. Finally the price is a few dollars higher on the 36″ model than the 48″ model. Bottom line, If you if you have more keys / weight than recommended for the 48″ unit, you will love the stronger spring / tension of the 36″ unit.

I bought this retractable key chain for work. Getting in and out of my vehicle and having to frequently clip and unclip the key chain I had before was frustrating, but this retractable key chain has definitely put an end to that.

Now when I get out of my interceptor to do my rounds, locks, and unlocks I don’t have to fiddle with the thing anymore. I can just zip the key chain out as far as I need it, use which key I need, and let the thing go.

It automatically zips right back into place on the duty belt, definitely a great tool of convenience. It can be just a tad frustrating, as the zip line in the key chain is quite strong and will pull back if you’re reaching too far from where it’s clipped to your belt.

But overall, it’s a whole lot better than having to dig in your pocket or clip and unclip a lanyard from your side routinely. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to routinely open and close doors.

Custodial services, correctional staff, security personnel, maintenance crews, it doesn’t matter. If you have to get in and out of locked areas routinely this definitely helps.

I am a professional housekeeper at a senior living community. I carry a huge amount of assorted keys. I bought this one to replace an identical one that Ive used daily for the last five years. It was perfect, holding all my keys, making it easy to pull out the one I needed.

I pulled out keys more than 50 times a day during that time. When the durable cord finally broke I had to find a replacement quickly. If you carry a lot of keys, you will love this keychain, I truly couldn’t function without it.

I used these for some homemade liqueur labels, and they work pretty well for this purpose. Pros: – Decent color transfer from the printer (no weird bleeding). – Easy to reposition or remove as needed.

– Durable. – Nice satiny-matte finish. – Water resistant. Cons: – Templates are a pain to align if you’re doing something kind of precise. I ended up going through one or two “trial” sheets before I got my design dialed in, which is a waste, but I was also doing some complicated cropping so this may not be an issue for you.

– Questionable alcohol-resistance. – Kind of expensive. If you’re doing something simple, or in bulk, maybe search for different options. But my project was kind of detailed and custom so it was fine.

Good labels, but not perfect. I purchased these to label my Salt Containers (ceramic), Flower Vases (glass), and some Mason Jars. This is really a 3. 5 star rating, but rounded up. Here are my notes: 1 – The material is sort of a plastic / rubbery and not of paper.

It reminds me of kind of shelf liner. 2 – For best results, us the best / highest quality setting for printing. 3 – Does not cut well with a cutting board. Must manually cut labels. 4 – Works well on glass (be careful not to stretch the label too much otherwise it will begin to distort and come up).

Does not work as well on ceramic (having problems with the edges coming up). 5 – For inkjet printers, ink does not adhere to the material as well as I’d like. Allow time to ‘set’. 6 – The Avery template for 22827 is not available on Microsoft Word so you will have to makeshift a template using tables.

Been using these labels for many years, always happy with the quality. These new ones are much thinner and cheaper than the old ones. Tear more easily. Disappointing.

Great product but the key rings are too small. Very difficult to put keys on.

1st, the reviews that state it wastes tape are misinformed. They are not utilizing the best cut methods for them. This is the most efficient tape management printer I have used, including earlier today where approx.

4 inches was “wasted ” out of the entire 8 meter cartridge. Favorite feature is the half cut, cutting the labels to size without cutting the backer. This gives a convenient way to mass print and peel without the waste and without a pile of individual labels.

The ability to import from excel through the PC based app is simple and efficient. (PC app lacks serialization feature) The phone app is limited in mass printing ability but useful. Only “complaint” is I have yet discovered how to transfer saved templets or labels between the computer and printer to keep on the printer.

I ordered the best specified product I could find. On receiving the printer, I found the product was capable if undertaking more complex functions than I needed, consequently the instruction manual was equally complex.

I eventually figured out how to complete the simple tasks I needed. All the above was entirely my own fault and should I ever need the extra facilities, they are there in reserve. The printer is excellent with different width of tape different size of font, two level printing, and the ability to edit prior to printing etc.

Finally as a ex electrical engineer the ability to print on tube to identify cables. Choppy.

I bought these to help with organizing the desk keys at my job. We constantly have to sort through them and look at tiny engraved numbers to reassign them. This gives me an option to mark them and have them easily accessible.

Worked great! Attaches easily and enough space to write on.

Good product for disposable to semi-permanent tagging of keys or key sets. Well designed for multi function use and very good labeling space. Water resistant parts make it easy to rinse or wash if needed.
