20 Best Wax For Wood Floors (2023 Updated)

I have been using this since the early 1940’s, and my mother used it since the early 1900’s. We’ve used this floor wax in our family for over 100 years, and it’s beautiful on hardwood floors, and hardwood furniture.

It also comes in handy to prevent bedbugs from crawling up the legs of your bed, or on the legs of your furniture, if you use a thick coating of it along the first 12 inches of the furniture legs. The compounds of the deodorized naphtha repel insects like bedbugs and fleas from crawling up the furniture legs.

The deodorized naptha also seems to have an effect on them that kills them, too. We will probably use this product in our family for the next 100 years.

always used to use only Butcher’s Bowling Ally Wax. But Aubuchon didn’t have it. Salesperson recommended Johnson paste wax, as he had used it and was very happy with it. Bingo! He was right. Easier/smoother application than Butcher’s and a very nice shine.

This stuff has been used by me and my mentors for decades for keeping our machine surfaces nice and slick. It’s the best stuff you can buy and it lasts forever. My last can lasted more than 10 years.

I have old floors in an old farm house. Traffic all the time. The stuff at the store doesn’t cut it. Shines gone in a half day. This lasts almost a week even though I have to sweep daily and usually damp mop a couple times a day.

It is not a wax as indicated by the name. It is a polish similar to a product by Bona. I wanted a wax to use with a floor polisher and this is not it.

My kitchen has hardwood floors and they have never looked better and I think this will last a long time!! Dries nice easy to apply.

As I spend my day spring cleaning, thought I would rave about this floor cleaner! Having been a little too privileged for many years, I always had a service clean our house. Once I started doing it on my own, I realized I didn’t really know how to effectively clean my floors (outside of a stiffer).

I know. first world problems. This spinner mop and hardwood cleaner are fantastic!! The cleaner doesn’t leave any residue and brings my floors back to their beautiful matte surface. It does not make them glossy, so look elsewhere if that’s the look you want.

We had wood floors when we built our new home in October 2016 and Woodwise was given to us by the floor company to use. We are almost out of that original supply and went to buy more. The store’s price was about 25% for expensive than my purchase here on Ebay.

We installed new hardwood flooring in our kitchen area about 5 years ago and the installer suggested that we use Woodwise to clean the floor with. Woodwise is the only product we have used in the past 5 years on the kitchen floor and it is the cleaner that we will continue to use in the future.

We installed Bella Cera Ruscello GuardaValla engineered hardwood flooring throughout our home several years ago. It comes with a 50 year warranty on the Satin finish. A couple of years ago my wife started applying Bona High-Gloss Polish every few months.

It looks great at first, then over time we started seeing cloudiness and marks. We tried simple ways to clean it, but even the Bona Floor Cleaner wouldn’t clean the cloudiness and marks Their customer support even suggested buying the Bona Polish Remover, but we were at the point if never applying any Bona product again.

We finally called in a professional floor cleaning company who stripped off all the polish and buffed the original flooring, leaving us our original beautiful Satin flooring. It took them 3 1/2 hours and cost us $750 to restore the flooring to it’s original luster.

We will never use any Bona product on our floor again. Just a damp micro fiber pad. We finally called in a 5-star professional floor cleaning company.

I recently bought Bona wood cleaner and I bought a bottle of polish as well after reading the back of the polish and seeing no warnings about using it on pre-treated flooring. I loved the cleaner. I tried the polish on half of my floor because I thought it would enhance the already subtle shine that my pre-treated wood floor has.

WRONG MOVE! Do NOT put this polish on a pre-treated floor or any floor that is already shiny. It created a thin film of gray haze. It was so noticeable next to the half of the floor that I had not used it on.

After trying to order the polish remover online, I found that it was not available at Amazon, Lowe’s, Home Depo, Walmart, nowhere! I called Bona and told them my story. At first they wanted to tell me to put more polish on and that I hadn’t put enough on.

I would not listen to that. Then they sent me a free bottle of polish remover which I was pleased about. My husband and I had to get down on our hands and knees doing small sections at a time, lots of work, arm pain, back issues, to get that polish off our floor.

It took about 10 hours and ibuprofen. Be very very cautious of the polish. It SHOULD be clearly marked on the back “DO NOT USE ON PRE-TREATED WOOD FLOORS”. It is not marked. Further, when I went online I found many other horror stories from people.

I will buy their cleaner again! I loved it! I will never buy their polish again and I warn all of you to be very very careful. They say to use on a small area first, but they do not give enough warning to use it on a very small area, let it completely dry, and then compare it to the before.

These changes need to be made within corporate Bona.

I bought this product and applied according to directions. Any drop of water left a ring where the wax looks like it has disintegrated. Called Bona about problem and said I wanted to take off the wax because it looked so bad.

Bought Bona product to remove and it only partially takes it off so now I have an entire kitchen, dining room and hallway with areas of wax on and areas with wax off. It has totally ruined my very expensive hardwood floors.

Please do yourself a favor and don’t even apply in the first place. You will regret it and spend a lot of money applying and then partially removing the wax.

Laminate floors had been neglected for quite some time so I decided to revive them. I found the Rejuvenate products at Home Depot and figured I would give them a try as the specified they worked on laminates.

WOW! I am impressed. The cleaner worked well enough on its own but once application of the Restorer made the floors look amazing. I will be using this for the future and looking for other Rejuvenate products! Thanks Rejuvenate!.

I have used rejuvenate before and always had excellent results. The polish and cleaning products are specifically designed and sold for different applications: all types of floor cleaner, wood floor cleaner and polish.

Each design is well matched for the type of surface you are working with. It seems much more concentrated than general products that I have used. It smells good and dries rapidly which is very helpful for large surfaces.

The office vinyl flooring was damaged with lots of white stains. As people walked around on it, salted snow from the shoes made white stains everywhere over the floor. I tried to clean up using many different kinds of cleaner including hot water and vinegar but it remained on the floor.

Finally, I used this product and amazingly the floor has been restored like new.

We have 57 year old hardwood floors that are still in pretty good condition but we wanted to restore without paying too much money and thought it would be a good idea to give this a try. We tested it out in our guest room since it doesn’t have high traffic and can dry in peace without the family/pets stepping all over it.

I went and bought the Rejuvenate Mop that came with 3 pads ( cleaning, dusting and polishing) and also bought the Rejuvenate Floor Cleaner as well. So the instructions were very simple to follow. Instead of using the dust mop I ended up vacuuming the whole room since we have pets and I wanted to be sure I got all the hair off.

I cleaned it then used the polish as instructed. Be sure that before polishing the floor need to be completely dry! We ended up using two coats of the polish and felt that they looked good enough. The food looked so beautiful and we were impressed.

It didn’t really fill the larger scratches but really did a good job covering the smaller ones. Aside from tired arms I really liked this product and am going to continue using it for the rest of the rooms and hallway.

I received this product and thought it would be almost like mopping my floor. Did not realize there would be so much I’d have to know about my floor before using this! I opted to try the product in an spot no one but me would see… my closet.

I cleaned, and sanded off a 2’x2’ area , I then used the product to test it. Almost like when you’re testing skincare products for the first time hehehe. I followed the instructions and now waiting to see final result.

I’m letting it sit for 48hrs untouched or bothered by anything. I think emptying out my closet was the biggest nuisance, but after that cleaning & sanding off the top with a battery operated sander , then applying product was not so bad.

The area seems very shiny right now, and that’s with little light! Can’t wait to treat my floors with this! May have to buy 2 more bottles I would 100% recommend this to someone who would like to give their wood floors a new life, but do not have the money to hire professionals or can’t change out all their flooring.

It does an ok job adding back shine to dulled out wood floor surface. It’s thin milky fluid that is poured on the floor and mopped once the floor’s prepped/cleaned. It’s an easy application anyone can handle.

The issue I have with it is that it requires/recommends microfiber cloth to mop with it. I happened to have one laying around at home but if you don’t have one, you need to get one or find an alternative.

I didn’t catch that at first and used the papertowel to wipe and it left a film of hazy residue on multiple spots which is unsightly. I mopped the area again with a microfiber cloth and went away. I was concerned it would leave chemical odors but it didn’t.

It contained a lot of different chemical material that makes me wonder what long tern effects it would have on the wood. Overall, it’s a nice product to restore the dull surface if you have a hard time doing with normal cleaning.

I have fifteen year old high gloss floors which have held up really well but the transition strip between the wood and the tile had become dull. The Minwax Hardwood Reviver was great at bringing the luster back to the wood strips! I love that it is water based which makes it easy to apply and not smell too bad.

I cleaned the strips well and let them dry before wiping on the minwax. Since I just needed a small area I used old tee shirt strips to apply and then trashed them after. After drying the wood strips looked great and it did not alter the color of the wood! I have plenty left to touch up as needed.

Seals & shines! We purchased a home with a worn wood floor in kitchen. We plan to install new non-wood flooring eventually but want to protect wood floor from further damage. This product is ideal for our needs, protecting and sealing until we select new flooring.

If you want a different looking floor, this is NOT for you but if you seek to protect and shine up a worn floor, then this is perfect! Easy to apply & spreads easier than Bona similar product. Highly recommend!.

Very High Gloss and Very Durable. I also make my own soft plastic fishing lures and this works fantastic as a sealer and protectan for my Plaster of Paris Worm Molds. 2 or 3 light coats into each worm cavity and they just slide out of the Molds with no sticking or tearing of the soft plastisol.

The plastic worms also come out very smooth and shiny ! Great on floors. However, if you make your own Plaster of Paris Worm Molds, then this is the stuff to seal your molds with ! Don’t waste your money on the cheap stuff.

If you want your worms to peel out of your molds and are super shiny then you need the; Lalundmark Super Gloss Premium Acrylic Floor Wax !.

I used this product after my floor was cleaned and I loved the results. I want to see how long the gloss will last with being walked upon and being rolled upon with my wheelchair. Other people have noticed the shine too.

I tried it on a linoleum that had been painted. It gave it a little bit of a sheen but not quite what I expected. Might try one more coat on floor.

I really like this Bruse floor cleaner. I have laminate flooring in my family and this is the best product I have used so far. Your floors will shine after using this product. Also Walmart had the best price and low shipping.

My granny gifted me massive boxes of Bruce when I graduated high school and went to college and preached to me how that all I bet use on my hardwood floors. Now I understand why!!! I have lived in apartments and homes that have had laminate, sealed hardwood, engineered hardwood, and currently 92 year old oak hardwood floors.

It has worked wonders on every single one of them. Does not leave a film or sticky feeling. Leaves it with a natural shine and not overwhelming. I have gifted friends who have used other brands and could not get the white film off despite everything and Bruce took it right off! This stuff is amazing! I pour mine in a mop that has a refillable container on it with a microfiber pad on the bottom.

This floor cleaner is awesome. It’s good for laminate and of course, hardwood. It brings just the right amount of shine to a floor without leaving residue. It has gotten a bit more expensive than I prefer to pay for this product.

What a beautiful finish with very little effort. This week I set out to hand scrub and “wax” my first floor hardwoods that looked dull and dirty. Washed and wiped the floor and reached in the cabinent and found Quick Shine for high traffic hardwoods…I usually use Bruce, but thought I’ll use this up first.

Well I did a substantial portion of the floor before I ran out. So I used the Bruce next…side by side there’s no contest. Bruce made my prepped floor look dull and old next to Quick Shine with its beautiful gloss and like new floor finish.

Soooo after several choice words, I threw the other one in the trash and ordered a large container of Quick Shine. Do yourself a favor. Your hard work should produce beautiful results. In my floor photo the left and upper part of the photo shows a dull worn out look, and the Quick Shine area is on the right and looks like a new floor.

After my husband passed away I moved into an older house with original but very sticky waffle covered hardwood floors. I did my research and after trying many products, none worked for removing the sticky waffle residue.

To make it short, Goo B Gone, Lysol Scrubber sponges, rags, and Quick Shine, made these old wood floors, look remarkably beautiful. So if you have this issue, you will need to get on your hands and knees, and remove the sticky residue with goobgone and with gentle lysol sponges.

You don’t need to pay for expensive floor cleaners. You will need to get down on your floor and do scrubbing and rinsing by hand. After all the sticky is gone, use this QuickShine. It’s been over two years since I did and these old hardwood floors are beautiful and shiny.

I had used Trewax 60 years ago when I had hardwood floors throughout my home. Loved it then and for some reason I still have some. I can’t remember if it is the same can or one bought to polish banister rails on the front porch.

I do stained glass now and I use it to polish my glass panels and protect the glass and solder/lead. Works great for that also. Thanks for staying in business. I recommend tree was to everyone.

I have been using this product for more than 10 years. My last old can still has product in it. Soft just like it was 10 years ago. Yesterday I bought a new can. The product was dried out with about 45-50% evaporated.

What was left was hard and unusable. I have heard of this problem but didn’t believe it. I do now, totally unusable. Need to rethink your can’s seal at least.

I have used Trewax Indian Sand wax Maple like in color on my floors and kitchen cabinets for years. I can not find it now. Do you still make that color. It just says Indian sand on my old can. I don’t how to get in touch with your company.

We purchased the Pledge Clean It Gentle Wood Floor Cleaner and Revive Floor Gloss to use on our 20 year old Tarkett engineered laminate flooring. We had regularly used Bona floor cleaner but wanted to kick the finish up a notch.

Applied per instructions, we were pleased with the performance of the cleaner. The Revive is another story. We found that the best way to apply it was with a cotton Sh-Mop system that we have used for years with the Bona.

Application had to be rather quick as the Revive tended to ‘dry out’ and smear without really drying out. Afterwards, it can be said that the floors were indeed shinier BUT the positives end there. Even though the floors are more shiny, they left a finish that is much more “grabby” without being sticky.

There is no slide to the treated areas as on the original floor finish making chairs MUCH more difficult to push up to the table. We have used semi-hard plastic slides on the chair legs for years – they screeched and were very hard to push after using the Revive.

I then replaced the plastic tips with felt pads which fared no better. Even though our floors did have areas that were more worn than others, we both agree that that original finish is/was preferred rather than the Revive disaster.

We will not be making that mistake again – keep the Revive for making glitter Christmas ornaments and off your floors! SC Johnson, any response?.

This is the ONLY product I will use because no other product gives this super high gloss! Granted I am usually applying it to old linoleum in rentals, but you wonbe disappointed if you apply it correctly and don’t rush (I wait until family is in bed to apply so it has time to dry).

STEPS TO GET DESIRED HIGH GLOSS FINISH: 1. Throughly clean floor and dry. (Do NOT use bleach or other strong Cleaners or it will dull your wax). 2. Apply first coat of wax/gloss in even, thin coat using new, clean (slightly damp) sponge mop.

(If it has too much water in it, the wax will be diluted and not shine) I ONLY use this sponge mop for wax application so be sure to clean with ONLY WARM WATER after every use. 3. LET DRY COMPLETELY! If you rush this step, it will be sticky! 4.

Apply second (or more) coats and let dry completely AND GET READY FOR COMPLIMENTS! *******Only damp mop between waxings! Use of any other products will cause dull white puddles to appear and should only be used when removing polish/wax.

******Stickiness only happens when the gloss/wax is not allowed to dry! APPLYING AS INSTRUCTED ABOVE WILL RESULT IN AN EVEN, HIGH GLOSS FINISH THAT WILL LAST LONGER THAN ANY OTHER PRODUCT ON THE MARKET!.

This product left a white patchy film on my brand new laminate floors! I’m so upset! How do I remove it?! EVERYTHING!! Dust, footprints, sticks to the floor and after applying this product my floor has never looked clean again.

I hope my floors aren’t ruined. We just put them in through the whole house and I applied this product.

I was pressed by this product’s ability to restore the shine of the hardwood. I was used to only simply clean the wood floors with ordinary wood floor cleaners resulting in a shiny floor for about half an hour after which footprints where visible again.

Frustrating and horrifying. This product produces a lasting shine and protects against footprints. Very pleasing results. However its ability to hide scratches is not that great. Definitely a must have product to use intermittently between usual cleaning.

This us a great little starter kit. First, you need to do your homework because there are no instructions for anything except the controller. I mounted this on my truck’s fiberglass topper. You need to pay attention to the grounding locations on the panel and provide a ground wire and nut and bolt to them.

Yes, you only need one, but I put in two. The cable connector diameter is 1/4″, and connector diameter is 3/4″, but once you put in one cable, you need more room to push through the 2nd 3/4″ connector.

I drilled a 1/4″ hole next to the 3/4 hole to slide the cable out of the way. You will need grommets and sealant, or I used a marine through-hole connector. Sealed, of course. My truck cap is slightly curved – enough that if I had mounted the solar panel directly, it would have put a bending strain on it and possibly cracked in.

I used 1/4″ wood slices to make up the difference. I also bought rubber sheets (8″x 8″) from Ace Hardware to place under the “feet”. The kit gives you everything you need except the 12v battery to which you connect.

Please note that you connect the battery to the controller first. I use my truck in Search and Rescue support, as a radio relay. This solar panel will help greatly in not running down my battery. Surprisingly, the solarpanel was putting out 12.

ITS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED. DO A TEST AREA AS THIS WORKED FOR ME AND MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE.

I ordered on line and that worked well. When i took the can out of the bag it had a large dent in the top. I opened the can and it looked like the wax was drying out around the edges. I tried to use it with poor result.

I am not sure what it should look like but I will find another option for refurbishing my furniture.

This wax left a real nice, brilliant finish on our hardwood floor without being slippery, and so far it’s held up extremely well.

It has been the best floor shine I have found for my vinyl plank flooring. I have tried several others. and none of them even compare to the quality of the Scott’s Liquid Gold. I have ordered several more bottles.

I hate that Wal-mart does not carry it in the stores.

I gave this a five star because it is one of the best floor restore there is. It leaves a beautiful shine on your hardwood floor that last for a long time even in high traffic areas, well worth the purchase and I highly recommend this product.

Let me begin by saying, Cinderella, I am not. I hate mopping my floors, but am also driven by an obsession for a clean house. This means, the only “right” way of mopping, is on my hands and knees with a sponge and bucket.

Needless to say, most products don’t live up to their claims, or their price. This one, however, does both. It left my hardwood floors positively glowing, in a very natural way. I have non-waxed oak floors, and they are gorgeous now.

The beeswax finish for wood was a finish that I was taught at school by a ‘Silver-Medal’ woodworker who, before our eyes, and in minutes sawed a t-joint that when assembled looked impossible to take apart – with apparent ‘dovetailes’ not allowing it to be pulled in any direction to separate the two pieces.

The secret was that the ‘dovetail’ entered from the bottom, finally rising into a perfect- looking impossible dovetail! He taught us to French Polish with linen pads and linseed oil. But you could get just as good a finish with just beeswax.

Some on here have difficulty with the precision lids not staying on properly due to building up pressure. I can’t believe that the manufactures provide separate plastic lids! The answer is simple – and as long as you are careful opening the tin – the contents will stay perfect for years because the solvent won’t evaporate.

It is advisable to put the lid back after EVERY charging of your polishing pad! You can use this trick also for the time when the freezer door won’t open because you have just shut it. Here’s what you do: btw it’s a Charlie©Trick! All you need is a small plastic straw.

When closing the lid you trap the straw in the lid – which of course flattens as intended. You purge as much air as you can without distorting the lid – and on its final seating slowly withdraw the straw – all the while it’s allowing pressured air to escape, until it’s finally seated.

Yes put it in a poly back for longevity but it will last a long time! See simple! And the freezer youight ask? Get a 4cm of slim plastic straw and sellotape it to the topmost right of the freezer frame which the door seats onto – it’s usually magnetic – and each time will let in a fraction volume of air in each time it’s ‘locked’.

See another Charlie©Trick! This was effective for years and was never a proble with, for example, mildew. It’s put at the top because as you all know it won’t try to let heavier cold air escape! While you are doing this give your new freezer (and any white good) a layer of beeswax too.

It’s great for preventing rust and sticking dust! My Bosch freezer lasted 42years – and was still working when taken to the dump. Another Charlie©Trick!.

Produces a great shine as well as protects the wood. Used after stripping and revarnishing some lounge furniture. Adds a professional finish. Certainly need a well ventilated space or wear a mask. Lid is tricky to refit.

Briwax will supply plastic lids if you contact them but I couldn’t get these to fit either. Nobig problem – just wrapped in a sealed plastic bag.

Excellent product, easy to apply & gives a great finish to our oak furniture. We had an oak nest of tables & an oak unit for our tv in the conservatory which we decided to paint with furniture paint, leaving the tops natural wood.

We wanted something to protect the wood but leave a natural colour without being too shiny. With Briwax being a well known name from the past we decided to try this & what a great finish it produces.

I recently received the product and am testing it on a small part of kitchen wood floor. The first app went on well but when dry did not leave the gloss I was hoping for. Granted, it has been over 10 years since the anything except a cleaning has been applied so I have applied a second coat and will see how that works.

Anything is better than nothing to try an preserve the wood flooring! Now – a couple of things. When applying, be careful that not too much of the refresher is squirted on the floor at once. Hard to do because refresher is pretty thin and comes “flying” out of the bottle.

Too much refresher is hard to smooth out. And if you don’t smooth it out all the way, that is when you will get white streaks. Practice I am sure will make perfect! Also, after you remove the sealer underneath the screw cap and gently rock the bottle back and forth, as instructed, before applying, the refresher WILL leak out from underneath the screw cap – at least that has been my experience.

I am looking forward to completing the kitchen wood floor, admittingly which have not taken proper care of the last 10 years, with this product.

I am beyond thrilled with this product. My biggest regret is spending money on the polisher products previously along with a Hoover Floormate. I received the Bona Refresher this afternoon and completed the family room and kitchen asap.

I used the Bona polish applicator pad making sure to rinse OFTEN. I have Versini Novara Tawny Brown Birch Engineered Hardwood Flooring which was installed in 2012. This product has the areas I’ve completed looking like a new install.

I am proud of myself for taking a chance on this Bona Refresher! The pictures show my dry kitchen floor and another view showing the difference with an area not completed. Make note the areas I applied the product were clean and dust free.

We have natural oak floors, with a 10 year old house and they were showing a little wear. With 3 cats, and 2 kids I really didnt want to get them refinished yet, so I thought I would try this after much research.

I followed the directions on the bottle exactly and let them dry overnight after cleaning with bona hardwood cleaner (which I normally use for cleaning). I would also buy the exact applicator pad recommended, the pro series microfiber applicator pad, NOT the reg bona mop pad, and rinse it well before first use to remove any loose fuzz or lint.

Also dont lift the mop until the end bc it will leave some bubbles. I also used a paintbrush along the edges and corners. I will definitely use this again!.
