20 Best Waterproof Truck Bed Cover (2023 Updated)

Great looking tonneau! Box arrived slightly abused from shipping. Top and rails were fine, but driver side prop rod was missing. BAK is sending me another (good service!). Installation was 3-stars because driver side rail came with a full shim vice the half-shim taper pieces needed for the F-250 bed edges.

Had to pry off the full shim, cut into shorter pieces, cut pieces lengthwise with bandsaw, and reattach. Added 1 hr to the installation. Otherwise easy install.

My new 1000 dollar backflip came apart at the tailgate release cord, then bolts holding it together stripped in cheap aluminum framework. Nice quality!

Installation was fairly easy but would be better with 2 sets of hands or vice grips. Nice finish color and like that you dont have to lift the last section prior to closing the tailgate.

At first glance the appearance of the G2 is excellent, it is a nice looking solid cover. During installation, my opinion changed on the durability of the item. It looks to me like the top cover is going to scratch up very easily.

I already scratched it with one of the tools I was using to install the cover. Not sure how this is going to hold up to the ice we get in Northern WI. I ran the truck through a carwash and have to say I was disappointed at the amount of water that got into the cab.

Mostly on the edges and up front. Time will tell how well this cover holds up.

Install was straightforward but a little time consuming. Having a second person to help install it is a lot easier. I installed mine with a factory bed liner, I didn’t need to notch out any material for it to fit.

I am able to open and close my tailgate with it closed. It looks really good. My only complaint is that for the money I expected it to keep my bed waterproof, but a noticeable amount of water had leaked into the bed past the rubber after being parked out in the rain all day.

Maybe my expectations are too high. Other than that I like it.

This is my 3rd Bakflip product. I had a G2 and then the rollup version on my 2016 half-ton. I bought another G2 Bakflip for my Denali HD. The quality of this one versus the first one wasn’t the same.

The rubber weatherstripping on 3 out of 4 of the corners is lifting up. I’ll have to apply something to get it glued back down. There was also a rusty spot on one of the rails where it had a very small scrape and the coating was gone.

No big deal right now but in the future, this spot will no doubt continue to rust if I don’t do something. It’s a good cover but I shouldn’t have to be doing small repairs or touching up anything right out of the box.

My 2022 Ram 2500 just came in and the first thing I put on was the cover, very easy install. I noticed the the bar close to the tail gate where the clamps are could be a little better, it seems like it’s a weak point but it works but not sure for how long it will.

hold up but I still think it’s worth the money and I would buy again hands down. All ready went from WV to NC and it’s doing the job, no water was in the bed after going through some good storms. Would recommend.

We shopped around for a quite a while before deciding on RC Soft Tri-fold, and my family surprised me with this cover for a birthday gift. upon opening the box, I had reservations with the securing clamps.

Not very inventive, actually seems the first idea and went with it. After installation; I noticed gaps in the cab corners. I wasn’t expecting airlock, but, at least minimum equal to the OEM Ram cover.

After complete install, which was easy. Once you start your tri-fold, first; you’ll notice the latches can slip from the little clips that are supposed to hold them, which ‘will’ puncture your cover, if you’re not paying close attention.

Making sure the latches were secure, my wife and I complete the Tri-fold, only to notice the cover seemed loose and not lining up to the cab end properly. Not unexpected since I have been driving on Michigan roads.

I crawled into the bed and re-secured. At this point, I took a closer look at the mechanism holding the cover. I thought this just can’t be right. Really looks poorly designed. I stored that away in my memory, squared and secured the cover.

This is where it gets interesting. We unfold the cover. My wife securing one side was struggling with the mechanism, only to get stabbed in the hand by the threaded rod for the latch. She announced she was finished with this….

After securing the cover and before closing the tailgate…. I gave the cover a tug…that sucker slid back six inches. This bore my first customer service call…two weeks ago, Service rep, asked that I take photos and email them.

Due to real life, there was a delay in sending the photos. Not more than five days. I called C/S to see if they received the photos…yes, they had. I sent additional photos, and photos of the labeling from the original box…yes I keep the box until I’m completely satisfied.

Conversation with C/S; was the latching mech. Looks for another model…in the end, something didn’t look right, and the gent I spoke with would refer it to QC. Rough Country C/S would contact me Monday, Nov.

5th… No return calls, or concerns. The quality of the cover is equal to or better than covers I looked at for 3-4X the price. Where R/C needs to pay closer attention, the latching mechanism and securing the latch when folding.

I personally know Truck owners that use R/C equipment. It was they who turned me on to this company. watching the attached you*ube, that latching mech, isn’t near that quality.

Ordered on a Thursday received on Saturday. Put it on the next day under 30 minutes. only issue i found was the 2 straps that are supossed to attach to the front lip of the bed would not. The bed style is a tube lip so there is no where to attach.

only then held on by the front side 2 and the back 2 clamps when closed. Works great other wise.

Made from Aluminum. I have to say the installation was easy, it fits good and looks good but just after I did the installation it rained and each corner leaks into the bed area. I am going to go to my local hardware store to get some rubber seal tape and try to use it to seal better to my plastic bed top area.

I will then see what I can do to plug the gaps in the corners. I kinda expected it would require some fabrication support on my part but it still is a little disappointing. One other note, my kit came with 3 large foam blocks added because of the 2021 Silverado it is going on.

These attached to the underside of the 2nd section to keep it off the glass when in the up position. Not a big deal but when closed these do hang down in the bed area and can be knocked off if you slide in anything tall enough to hit them.

This was not noted in the description when I ordered it.

Overall good construction, beware if you have a drop-in bed-liner though. My liner did not seat against the front of the bed closely and as a result pushed the rails for the backflip aft and created an interference with the tailgate.

Had to cut slots in the liner to push it forward enough to eliminate this interference. Overall not a huge deal, but be prepared to modify your plastic liner if you buy this cover. Once again good quality kit, happy with the end result but these installs never seem to go as seamless as promised.

Only other thing was the aluminum clamps that interface with your bed require some extra attention and can be seated too deep into the rail. Just make sure that the ridges on the clamp and on the rails seat in the valleys, and not across the ridges.

Bought from local parts store a few years ago. In no time at all I noticed things going wrong. Use very minimally and the bars that go across are falling out and have tried to epoxy back in. Hardware is all rusting.

Seal strips at front are falling out and never even open it that far except to wash the roof of my truck. Feels like it’s now waterlogged as it weighs a ton. Would not recommend for the $1000 bucks. Doesn’t stand test of time for even a year or so.

My dads truck came new with same cover. He uses his even less and is having identical issues.

Easy install, fits well, good materials. The quality control on it or potentially the design itself is not so good. When rolling up the teeth will on the closest few slates come out of being locked and I have to finangle it to go back into place to lock it back down which sometimes takes several minutes.

There’s also a lot of glue on around the metal where it gets hung up, which could be the cause or a jerryrig during QC. The other thing is the 2 tabs at the rear pop off really easy and make it easy access to the latches, which make it not so secure for break ins.

The unit was easy to install. I think it will be more secure than the tri-fold bed cap I had before. I do not think it will be as water resistant as the tri-fold because the seals are minimal. The manufacture quality is not as good as it should be.

The cover had all sorts of left over machining chips rolled up in it. It seems like it was rushed through production as the seals were not installed properly or had fallen off during shipping. The end of the side rubber strips that seal the tailgate once it is closed pulled off the first time I shut the tailgate.

I would gladly wait an extra week or two to receive a unit that was manufactured properly.

I have a 2016 ram 1500 big horn with the ram box. The roll back cover is poorly engineered! One of the rail was cut thinner than the other and it was very difficult to slide it onto the factory rails! I ask that you have some assembly skills before installing it yourself! Also, I know it’s not 100% water proof but this cover had gaping holes that allowed water to enter as if I didn’t have the cover on it.

I had to make modifications myself to close up the holes. Overall I like the cover but I think the company should re-engineer this cover!.

I am very pleased with this tonneau cover. Everything was as UNDERCOVER advertised. The installation took me a little longer than I thought due to a rotator cuff injury, but I was still able to completely install it in a little over an hour.

It was refreshing to have everything go as claimed. The engineering is superior, and it gave me excellent latitude in front-to-rear and lateral adjustment so that I could center it perfectly. The quality of materials and workmanship is excellent.

Love the cover; akin to the Backflip MX4. Great value and love the ability to open/close the tailgate without lifting the cover. It took 1-hour to install, but I’m a perfectionist. I do highly recommend the YouTube videos as the instructions are weak.

Caution: the tool bag will not work if you have a tailgate extender due to lack of fender well room. I’m using the LEDs elsewhere too as their a little gimcky.

Installation was pretty easy. Did it by myself in just over an hour. Low profile is awesome. Saddle bag is okay for now but am not too confident the velocity to will keep the thing hanging with much in the bag.

Will likely replace with a swing case. The cover is awesome. Had a hell of a rainstorm a few days after install and the bed stayed dry. Super happy with my purchase.

The hardest thing to accept when adding a tonneau cover is that when focusing on it, it isn’t perfect. I have tailgated for years and admired many pickups never saying “that’s a nice truck but that cover looks horrible”.

I just accepted it as a utility no different than mud flaps or a trailer hitch. So the first thing to accept is the fact that you are going to be super critical because its your truck. If you want a nice looking cover, get the single piece hard top and have it painted to match- but then your pickup is just another auto with a big trunk.

The fold-ups and role-ups maintain the utility of a pick-up while allowing you to temporarily protect valuables. I like that this one can be easily folded back or removed. This does not make your bed a safe.

If someone wants your stuff, they can break a window or pry off this cover. The question is how much do you want them to damage your vehicle and cover in the process? Would I leave expensive equipment in it over night? Probably not, but nor would I leave them in the cab.

It does keep valuables out of sight. I can see how it could be easily opened with simple and prevalent “thief tools” without damaging the truck. I’m contemplating countermeasures to make this harder, but again, there’s no way to stop a pry bar and then you’ve got broken parts and scratches.

I have to accept that the purpose of a bed cover is to not entice the lazy crook and to provide weather protection. I’m guessing if a thief with no tools jumps up and down on any of these, they’re going to give way.

Anyone heard of an ultrasonic security sensor for the bed? Maybe can at least make some noise. Bottom line: For tailgating, hauling the fishing gear or hunting toys concealed and protected from the weather while maintaining the ability to move a fridge, you can’t beat this.

I bought this for my 2017 f-150 about 2 days after I bought the truck. At first I Loved it! My family and I drove my truck to South Florida on vacation and it kept our belongings dry through alllll the rain (it rained 3 out of the 5 days we were there).

However I use my truck for work and use my cover daily. After about 1 1/2 years of use, my cover started leaking. I had to have it realigned. Then eventually I replaced the foam seal around it. Then the screws that held the wire underneath that you pull to open/unlock the cover, Started pulling loose.

Now all of my wire handles are just hanging. I even tried replacing them but it didn’t hold. So I feel like it wasn’t made for regular use. And now no matter what I do, it leaks. Also the clamps that attach the cover to the bed rails keep loosening and falling off.

I’m constantly having to reattach them or tighten them up. I actually got on this website to find another cover lol.

This is a nice tri-fold. I’m very impressed with the quality, appearance, fit and bang for my buck. This really tops off the look of my pickup. I noticed after I had put it on when I was under it tightening the clamps for the rails and the front section it was definitely cooler underneath it, so maybe in this hot AZ sun my coolers and equipment under it won’t be destroyed.

Can’t wait to load my truck up and head to the hills with this cover to give it more of a test.

The color matched my vehicle perfectly. The instructions were clear and specific to my truck. A couple of minor adjustments and the cover operates flawlessly. It really looks great.

Great fit and finish. Color match was perfect to me. VERY easy to install even with a cheap factory bedliner installed. UPS’ poor handling and Undercover’s packaging resulted in some damage that I will submit a claim for.

A few small scratches on the edge and chipped corner at the front of the drivers side. Body shop should be able to fix it relatively cheaply. AutoAnything is absolutely the best place to buy accessories.

Great color match but much heavier and more flexible than I had expected. It weighed about 120 pounds and absolutely required two able bodied people to install. The left side and right side mounting brackets had subtle differences that I didn’t notice until I had installed them on the wrong sides.

Don’t think the locking latch would deter a determined thief but would keep a courious person from taking a peak at that you are hauling. Haven’t tried the light at night, but it is a nice feature.

I ordered a cover for a Chevy Colorado, when it came in it was for a Ford F150. I had to take pictures of the box, I don’t think they believed it was the wrong one. They told me they had to email the pictures to there return department.

I wanted it so I could take my truck when I went on vacation. That didn’t happen they said the return department needed to okay it. I asked them if they could just send me the right one, they said they couldn’t.

They finally emailed me so they could pick it up. I told them I was on vacation, so I had to have some one get it from my house and take it to my work, then they had to change the address to pick it up at.

That took another 2 days. Then I got my new one a couple days late. It fits great, but at the spot where it flips it has a space that water or snow or dust can get in. It looks great on the truck. Now I hope it last me a long time.

I think this cover makes my truck look great. It also does a great job keeping the rain out. It was a breeze to install. My only issue is the mount brackets near the cab. They tighten very easy but the plastic seems to be stripped so it doesn’t want to loosen.

This product would be better if they used the same clamps near the cab as the ones near the tailgate.

The Tonno Pro Tri Fold Bed Cover I was sent was not the correct fit for my vehicle. I used the website “SHOP” feature by entering the year, make and model to generate the part number that would be compatible with my truck.

It turned out the part number it generarated was wrong and Leonard customer service refuses to exchange or take the cover back. They say I ordered the wrong part so they are not at fault. Victoria the manager was extremely rude, put me on hold for 20 minutes to look into the problem, then came back with a 50% credit offer.

Both the email I received from my return request and Victoria stated on the phone that I should “try to sell the item locally to recoup my loss”. Website states “FREE 30 Day Exchanges” which they do not honor.

When I told Victoria I planned to dispute the charge with my credit card she replied “I’ll just dispute it back”. People beware, this company has no integrity.

The Undercover Elite LX is a great addition to my new truck. Last week I installed the BedRug, and the Elite LX looks fabulous with it. There was a little problem with the ordering, but worked out quickly and easily with an email to customer service.

Fifteen days from order to delivery; not bad, but I was maybe expecting a bit better. My credit card was charged the day the order was placed. The box was torn up a bit on delivery, but the cover had not a scratch.

There were clear directions on the box about what to do upon receipt of the carton. One slightly confusing part was that on the carton it stated clearly to not open the box before confirming that the product was exactly as ordered.

including color. How to determine the color of the product in the box without opening it??! I called customer service, and confirmed that the product number was correct, ,so the color should be correct.

It was. Installation was not quite as fast as a couple of YouTube videos had suggested. The front bracket measurements were, in fact, mere suggestions. I had to fiddle with it quite a bit to get it correctly placed.

Bit once installed (1 hour, with the help of my 11-yr-old daughter), it is fantastic! Looks great, and it will be very functional. I love the fact that it is secure, with a lock mechanism that is keyed to my ignition key.

I did a ton of research selecting a cover for my new F150. It had to be easily removable, relatively light, look sharp, perfect paint match, and at a decent price. The UnderCover LUX checked all the boxes.

I considered the more expensive option Elite because of the carpeted underside, but ultimately decided to go with the less expensive LUX. The LUX ticked all the boxes and I’m very satisfied.

The Cover is Great. Paint matched exactly; installation is easy; fit is good, no leaks. I have had several positive comments. But, the packing made taking delivery a crap shoot. Delivery of the first top was slow and the packing was in terrible shape.

I refused delivery. The folks at AutoAnything were great and sent another cover. The second cover packing was in almost as bad shape but I unpacked it and kept it even though a rib under the cover had a hole in it.

Very nice tonneau cover. It was fairly easy to install taking some time to tighten check fit loosen adjust and retighten a few times to get things just right. Once in and adjusted for taughtness of the vinyl unlatching rolling up to stow and recovering the bed are quick and easy.

The price for the cover was fair, especially when I saw the surprised look on my Toyota dealer’s face during a separate visit. He offered to install it for the cost of 1 hour labor ($75). After having the box sit in my garage for 2 weeks and not having time to install it, I took him up on the offer.

I enjoyed coffee and cookies for 2 hours while they installed it. So glad I hired a professional rather than take 2 hours or longer to install by myself.

I just got my Access Lorado tonneau cover onto my ’05 Ford Ranger a couple of days ago and I LOVE IT! My husband broke his ankle a week ago and is in a cast, so he stood by, read me the instructions and lent an occasional hand and we had it on in about an hour.

I know I could have done it alone if I had needed to. The quality is great, it fits perfectly, it’s really easy to roll up and back out again, and it looks terrific. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on the Laredo and I am so glad that I did.

I had a hard shell tonneau on a previous truck and found it to be a real hassle if I wanted to move something higher than 18″, and it leaked. The Laredo is a very nice design. It arrived quickly and in perfect shape and I am very happy with my purchase and my experience with AutoAnything.

Cover looks good and installed ok. I’m only giving 3 stars because of packaging. I think I was sent an open box item. In the box I received instructions for installing a rough country lift kit. The parts were in Ziploc bags.

After installing the frame onto truck and started putting cover onto rails. I found that the head rail and tailgate rail were both missing a tab for holding cover in place. I had to take the frame back off of truck.

I found the missing tabs loose in the box. I was able to put those tabs onto the rails. Overall happy with the cover, frustrated with everything else.

The quality of materials used to make this cover is not reflected by the price. This is my third cover and by far the lightest and easiest to use. The company has been around for a long time so getting parts (if you need them) will not be a problem.

My wife finds this soft cover to be easier to work than the hard cover and had and the previous soft cover. It is backed by a great warranty for years of trouble free use. It is no where near as secure as the hard cover I had, but for the most part it is out of sight out of mind when it comes to stuff in the bed of a truck.

I have been out of town with a $1,500 mountain bike in the back under this cover and I still have my bike. Great looking and light are the best features of this cover.

Cover does not fit tight. The tarp is too big. The bows have very little arc to them and the cover just flaps in the wind. Extang wants a serial number that is on the box which I do not have, without the serial number they will not do anything.

I would not recommend buying this cover.

This cover is good quality. The price is very good. I must have felt it was a good one, because I have ordered a second one for my new truck. The installation instructions are very poor. Not sure why people that manufacturer equipment cannot write, draw or have photos that show the correct way to install their product.

I would have rated it better if the clamps worked better. The issue is the clamp bolts grab in the aluminum threads. The answer is to apply antiseize to the bolts.

My previous tonnue cover was and old system with snapping rails. When reading the reviews online I was comfortable purchasing this tonnue cover. After I placed the order I received it very quickly and was able to put it on my truck right away.

I am very happy how it looks and works. It is much easier than my old one. Its nice having everything all contained so I can just roll it up and strap it. I have had many compliments on its appearance.

I installed the cover in about an hour. The roll-snap locking mechanism is classy and easy to latch/unlatch. The best attribute of this cover is it’s low profile, in addition to allowing the bed rail roll bars to stay in place.

I would recommend this cover to anyone. Now want to see if I get better gas mileage as advertised. John from FL.

In 2013 I bought an Extang Trifecta and was impressed with the quality and ease of install and removal. The only thing I did not like was the way it waved some as I was driving down the road. I originally wanted the Extang Solid Fold so decided to spend the extra money and get it for my 2018 Toyota Tacoma.

I followed all the directions to properly install it paying particular attention not to over tighten the front clamps. The next day after sitting in the sun all day, I noticed two indentation where the front clamps were.

I contacted Extang and was extremely impressed with their customer service (some of the best I have ever dealt with) and they sent me a replacement front cab panel. During install after replacing the panel I did not tighten the clamps down as much and do not have the indentation issue.

The Tacoma bed liner has a slight height increase on the front bed rail. This does not allow the cover to sit flat so there are areas that water penetrates. Since it does not sit flat it does not look as good as it could because the lines are not clean.

I am going to add some weather stripping to even the the whole bed rail, which should help with the seal as well as how it lays on the bed rails. I recommended Extang add a flat bar across the front cab panel to improve the strength to the clamp area and avoid the indentations from forming when clamped down.

Overall I am happy with the quality and would recommend the Extang Solid Fold 2. 0. It does provide more security than the soft covers and I like the fact that when folded forward I can sit on it without damaging the cover.

The cover was delivered in a an oversized box (from EXTANG) that did not protect the cover at all! I read several other comments on another site before I made the purchase, and this was a common problem, but I took a chance and ordered it.

Let me say that this was not “JET’s” fault in anyway. JET did what they promised and delivered the cover on time without issue. The problem is 100% EXTANG’s fault. Why wont they protect their product better.

ridiculous! I opened the box and sure enough the cover had a large dent in one of the panels. Very frustrating, now I have to go through the tedious process of returning it. BEWARE. if you buy this product be prepared to be disappointed.

I bought one for my 15 Silverado and it was great. I purchased a 22 Silverado 2500, bought another solid gold and it didn’t fit well at all. Both front corners had large gaps and let quite a bit of water in.

Not to happy with it this time around.

The cover shipped as scheduled and arrived on time. The product installed as described in the instructions and looks and works great. This was installed on a Tacoma (2007) and some advice for anyone who is thinking of buying this for a late-model Tacoma.

Note that you will need a T-30 Torx wrench to remove the bed rails and, not mentioned in the instructions, but mounting the cover side rails works much easier if you remove the front Tacoma bed rail before installing the cover rails.

you can re-install the front rail after completing the installation of the side rails. Working with AutoAnything was simple and totally without any surprises.

Shipping was super fast. Fit was great and looks fantastic. The only issue was the wrong hardware was sent. Hardware was way too big for the nissan track system. I believe it was hardware for the chevy silverado.

I called and they wanted a picture of what was sent but the installer had already cut what came to make it fit. I would have liked the correct hardware but after it was finally installed it seems to work well.

Because of the hardware issues it took about 3 hours to install. Without hardware issues would have been definite 5 star.

My biggest worry with ’22 frontier body change was proper fitment (keeping water out during a rainy drive and while stationary). I’m happy to report after a stormy drive and while parked, the inside of my bed was happily dry.

I’m happy they even included some foam to help with fitment near the rear windshield (not touching, but again keeps the water out). My only real complaint (kind of) is the rubber strips near the rear windshield attached to the cover basically do not apply with the ’22 bed.

The included extra foam gets the job done.

Installation was simple and required less than thirty minutes. All parts were present and seemed adequate for their intended purposes. I used the supplied self-adhesive tape (intended for Tacomas) at the bed’s bulkhead for a better seal.

It has been through two rain storms since it was installed, and only a few drops of water made it through at the bulkhead. For an economical bed cover it exceeds my expectations.

I’ve had many different styles and brands of tonneau covers over the years, and this one is the winner by a nose. I liked the Truxedo the best for a long while before trying this one. The Lund seals better to stop the annoying leaks the other one had.

I like the fabric better than the shiny vinyl look of the other brands. It held up last winter to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow sitting on the cover without an issue. Still looks like new after being in the sun and repeated car washes.

Velcro is strong, and it pulls nice and tight for a custom look. Easy to install, easy to roll up and back, and has a smaller diameter roll when stored against the cab with the latch straps. Only gripe is it has 2 latches to release before rolling it up.

Other brand has a single latch to release the tailgate bar to start rolling it up. Little more convenient. This was a steal being on sale and then the Lund rebate. Came out to about half the price of the Truxedo with no loss of performance.

The cover is very nice looking on my truck. Installation was fairly easy, but requires a little work, especially if you have a spray on bed liner, which makes the clamps a little tight to install, but not bad.

Material feels strong and appear as though they will last a long time. Keeps the bed dry in all rain conditions with no leaks. Highly recommend.

Don’t waste your money on this cover. It leaks like a sieve. I’ve had Lund covers in the past for my other trucks and they’ve been great, but this new one is no good. I may as well have no cover, there’s so much water in the bed.
