11 Best Waterproof Tent 6 Person (2023 Updated)

I got this tent in order to do some camping with my boys. We used it once in the backyard, then on an overnight. One of the main poles fractured at the insertion point while setting it up the second time.

Dry, moderate ventilation in 40f temp. Overalll pleased but the broken pole has finished us for future adventures with this otherwise good tent.

Used a couple of times. Happy with this tent so far. Easy set up and breakdown. Used in high winds and heavy rain and was impressed with how well it performed. Would recommend a trap underlayment for extra floor protection.

Listed as a 2 person tent. You will be crowded. I slept in it by myself and store a bin with my gear in it and it works perfectly. 2 people may be a bit cramped.

This tent is EVERYTHING I was hoping it would be. #1-easy to set up. (And it really is. all by myself. ) #2-good cross ventilation. #3-no chemical smell inside. #4-attractive. #5-lightweight. #6-reasonably priced.

#7-easy to repack in its case. Yes, I’m quite pleased with this purchase. YAY.

We took it camping on 4 separate occasions this past summer. Got absolutely poured on in one case, rain so bad we could hardly see 5ft in front of us for over 13 hours straight before we gave up and left 3 of the 4 times.

The tent is VERY water RESISTANT. Reread that just in case. It will keep you dry most of the time depending on how many people and how much stuff you cram into it. We found that if you have your sleeping bag pressed up against the walls in the corner opposite the door and to the left of you are outside facing the door water will soak through the material some.

The rainfly is awesome. If you press up against the mesh windows while it’s pouring, moisture will come through. We had 7 people crammed into one side of it we use the divider to separate into a sleeping/gear area and a dressing room/toilet area during the 13+ torrential downpour with wind and we stayed dry and as comfortable as we could be in a tent.

My sister and my nephew ended up having to get in our tent with us because their Coleman flooded I ended up buying her family the bright green version of this tent and they love it The tent held up to our excursions.

It is pretty simple to put together once you do it a couple of times. Like… 5 minutes or so between 2 adults. We like divider actually wish it had 2 and the storage pockets are handy. My only complaint is the poorly designed overhang above the door that you put the little tent pole in.

It’s there to keep you dry, but caves in when it rains and then soaks you and everything for a few feet in the entry if you have to use the door. Other than that particular piece, awesome tent. :

Bought this temp for car camping at competition weekends with my daughter. Typically there’s only two of this, so this is incredibly spacious. Occasionally another competitor joins us – so three people, still tons of room.

Love the square foot print. My daughter typically has to rush off to prep for competitions, and so, I am left on my own to put up the tent. No problem! Takes about 20 minutes in total (tent, fly, pegging in) to setup and about the same to take it down.

It’s light, so when we get home, I can hang it quickly on the clothes line to air out and to shake out any dirt I maybe couldn’t get out as we de-camped. We can both easily stand up, making changing and moving about easy.

My one very minor complaint is that the wind flap gets caught in the door zipper – easily resolved my adjust hand hold to push the wind flap out of the way with index finger while using thumb and middle finger to pull the zipper.

Very happy with this purchase.

This is a great tent for the price. Bought it when it was on sale, which made it very affordable for car camping compared with similar sized/quality tents with two doors. It was great having plenty of space and headroom for two of us camping with cots in Yellowstone.

Very easy to set up and was pleased to see it uses aluminum (not fiberglass) poles, which are much more sturdy. No rainy days, so I can’t yet attest to its rain worthiness. There are windows in each door that can be zipped open for cross ventilation or closed for privacy.

We definitely used them. There’s good ventilation in general and we had no issues with interior condensation. The cover flaps on the lower part of the doors are a pain keeping them from getting caught in the zipper every time you zip down or up.

But once we got into the habit of using our hands to keep the flap lifted each time the zipper got to that area, we were able to avoid the zipper getting stuck on the flap material. Eddie Bauer needs to get that zipper flap design re-done on any future tent offerings like this one.

But overall, we really enjoyed the easy set-up, lots of interior space and height, having two doors, and the ability to keep all our gear inside for easy access. I’d give the tent 5 stars if it weren’t for the cumbersome zip flap cover that too often caused the zipper to get stuck.

I camp quite a bit so I thought this would be a good purchase. The tent overall is good could be better. You must use a footprint because the material the floor of the tent is made of is thin. The second time I used the tent I went beach camping, Yes properly staked the tent can withstand at least 15-20 mph winds.

My only problem was to find while packing up to leave that the tent pole had split it look like a cup of fries. When I contacted customer service I was told it would not be eligible for replacement or return because I used it.

As long as you have no bad weather you are good.

Great, great tent. Incredibly easy intuitive to set up. I have camped in rain storms and had water flowing under the tent with no ground tarp and everything stayed dry; great bathtub (was very impressed as I thought my stuff would be wet for sure).

I have not experienced extreme wind but tent held up very well in strong winds. The Dark Room technology stuff is true – it really stays dark in there even when there is light out. Mind you, it’s not a photography dark room.

but yes it’s dark enough to sleep in accidentally. SUPER roomy inside. Easy to put away and handy little carrying bag. Great tent for car camping or short portage or backpacking trips. I fit 2 sleeping bags, this tent, cookware and some other stuff in my 85L portage bag.

I was pretty cold at night with an older 0 degree bag and this tent when temperatures dropped below 0 degrees but haven’t tried another brand in extreme cold to compare. If your goal is to portage and do single trips, you may want to find a smaller tent but if you don’t mind the extra 2-8 lbs and the odd double carry, this tent is luxurious in the backcountry.

I just prefer a smaller tent for longer portage trips that will also take up less volume in my pack – this is self preference and nothing against product.

We bought this for our first camping trip for us and our 4 year old. You can’t depend on perfect weather while camping so I was sold on the “storm proof” claims for wind and rain. The first night was fine, it rained a little and everything was fine.

It was totally dark in the tent as the sun came up which helped our kid sleep a little longer. The next day, the wind picked up to 20mph (claims it can handle 35mph) and it completely ruined the tent! At least 4 large rips in the seams and the rain fly has multiple holes in it too, including where the rope ties to the stake to keep it down.

Also the zipper is GARBAGE, constantly snagging and was so hard to open and close because it would just get stuck. Super disappointing that a name brand for camping gear would produce such a bad product that fell apart after one use.

Pros: – really dark in the daylight – person 6ft and under can stand up fine – it felt roomy with a queen size matress in it Cons: -can’t handle wind, will literally rip at the seams – probably couldn’t handle rain because wind causes holes in the rain fly – zipper will cause extreme frustration.

You have to use 2 hands on the zipper door, inside and out. The zipper does not move with one hand, and it gets caught in the rain flap. Maybe it’s just me, but camping with children, you rarely enter/exit a tent with both hands free.

Seems you always have something in one hand, clothes, flashlight, shoes, etc. Having to put down whatever you are carrying made me think about my last tent that we wore out, it was a one hand zipper, always.

The Skydome tent we have has an led rope with control box. The LED rope goes through a skinny sleeve at the inside front of the tent. There is a pocket sewn to hold the control box, but it is on the opposite side of the door zippers.

Like having your room light switch on the opposite side of the door opening. It’s just awkward. The Skydome feature is not a good feature to have when looking for an all around tent. If you put the rainfly on, which you have to, to have any privacy at a camp ground, then there is zero airflow through the tent.

The only opening you can have is the half moon on the door. To get more airflow, we pulled back one corner of the rain fly every day. The other problem with skydome is the whole top 1/3 of the tent is screen.

If you camp anywhere with wind and dust, then it blows dirt right up the rainfly, through the mesh top, and all over your bedding and belongings. Last, the poles are permanently attached to the tent, and instructions say to roll the tent up around the folded poles.

The poles are the exact length of the storage bag. With the bulk of the tent and rainfly, and poles in the middle of the tent, the storage bag zipper is extremely tight and feels like it will fail in a few uses.

Bought this ten to replace an existing heavier tent with steel poles which we had owned for many years. The whole tent is extremely lightweight but still strong, yet to try it out on a very windy camp! It has almost the same space as our existing outwell montana 6 tent.

It is quick and easy to pitch and packs away simply. I would suggest buying strong plastic pegs for pitching instead of using the metal pegs supplied. Other than that it is a beautifully designed tent with ample space.

The anti trip door is great as we have a daughter who can struggle on her feet, this makes entering and exiting the tent much safer removing any trip hazards. The attached awning provides a good space for cooking under if the weather decides to turn.

A great tent for a very good price that all packs into one small lightweight package.

I bought this tent and had high hopes. Getting older I now car camp and thankfully also purchased a cot. I am glad I did because I am sure it saved me from drowning (just joking). This tent is not seam sealed and the fly is not large enough to protect the sides in a rainstorm.

It has a bathtub floor. During my first night I had that rainstorm. The inadequate fly allowed the rain to run down the sides of the tent that did not have sealed seams. It leaked so badly that the bathtub floor did indeed act as a bathtub and allowed all of the rain to gather inside of the tent.

I picked up my gear and placed it on my cot. The next morning, I had to literally bail the tent out. I have since purchased 3rd party seam sealer and applied it twice but am still hesitant to use this tent in any inclement weather.

This tent is excellent in all weather and can be used for backpacking. All packed up with the footprint, the tent weighs 17 lbs. Don’t be fooled by any other weight advertised. This tent is pretty heavy to carry by itself, but we split it up between our family members and the weight was very manageable per person.

We used it on a recent family backpacking trip that spanned multiple days and nights and I think my portion of the tent was about 6 pounds. During that trip, we experienced typical alpine weather, which included rain, shine, thunder and lighting, heat, and plenty of mosquitos.

It sheds rains very well and withstands wind blasts without collapsing. It has enough cubbies and pockets for efficient organization at night. It is tall enough for me to stand upright (I’m 6’0″) and has enough floor space for our family of five.

It could fit a sixth person, but it would be a little tight. Our dog slept in the vestibule (his preference!), which was large enough for all of our bags plus the dog during rainstorms. The vestibule is an excellent feature.

The only issue we had with the tent is that there are no vents for airflow or for shedding daytime heat. As soon as the sun hit the tent in the morning, it got hot fast! That would be a problem in warmer environments but was not an issue for us on this particular trip.

We are very happy with the tent.

We were looking for an affordable tent for a week-long car camping trip to Acadia NP and downeast Maine. Coming from a high performance, ultra-light 2-person backpacking tent, we wanted something big enough to comfortably fit our dog and all our gear.

For the price, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised by its quality and performance. We experienced heavy rain for 2 solid days and not once did we have any issues with leaks or condensation due to the adequate ventilation and properly taped seams.

Though I can’t speak to long term durability, the tent floor held up to dog claws, roots, and rocks (though we did purchase the additional matching Kelty footprint; which we’d recommend as well). While properly guyed out, it also stood up to 30+mph wind gusts one day.

On a clear night, it was great to be able to ditch the fly and get amazing 360 views. Setup is a piece of cake too, especially with 2 people. If I had to be nit-picky, some of the stitching looked a little wonky in spots, but it’s merely a cosmetic issue.

I’ve only used aluminum poles in my previous tents, so I had my reservations, but these fiberglass ones have worked fine so far. For the price, I honestly don’t think you can get another tent of this size and quality.

For the price point, this is very good car-camping tent. I arrived at the campsite at dark and was able to set up the tent single-handedly. The “quick corners” feature made it very easy to stand up. However, I am 5’5″ and I did have to do some reaching to get the center top clip on to the tent poles.

After that, everything else was a breeze. Attaching the fly to the main body of the tent was easy due to the color coordinated clips on each corner. Inside the tent was very roomy and could very well fit 3 people very comfortably, but definitely accommodate 4 people.

Again, it was tall enough for a guy my height to stand up inside. It was a 2 night 3 day short camp trip, but it held up against some slight rain and moderate winds. Given the large size and I was the only one inside, it was tough to retain heat during the 30-40 degree temps overnight.

My only grip are the stakes, nothing fancy and very standard.

The Team that engineered this tent concept should be in charge of ALL future tent design endeavors. What a thoughtful, practical concept. Now, the feedback 😉 Perhaps there is an opportunity with zippers.

The zipper on the entrance flap is a bit cumbersome and seems to catch or snag overlay fabric often. Furthermore, a zippered ventilation flap could be placed on the inside so that airflow can be regulated (located on bottom rear panel).

I use this tent on cold nights (20-30 degrees), as my mancave, and a small ceramic heater with a blower warmed it up to 60 degrees plus. The temperature remained consistent with the fan on however, I had to partially block the ventilation flap on the back panel to achieve that.

Once optimal fresh air crossflow was stabilized, cigar smoke was properly expelled and a great environment was created. The cost of the tent was satisfactory and I am a bit anxious regarding durability.

How long will it last with regular use? I guess we will find out!.

The fan system broke on my second trip specifically the plug from the battery to the fan. It fell apart in my hand. There are no replacement parts for this except for new batteries. I purchased this specially for the lighting and fans but either work now.

Really cheap quality. Would not recommend at all. Extremely disappointed. Buy beware! Tent itself is fine, no issues. I wish I could get a replacement for the fan system.

Where do I start with this tent? It has all of the basics that I’m used to in a Coleman 6 person tent plus much more. Inside it can fit two queen air mattresses which is perfect for camping with my wife and two small children.

Setup is simple and instructions are included (although I set it up in my yard the first time just in case). I’m not sure if the instructions have always been here, but I noticed that the carrying case has folding instructions sewn inside the case (life changer for me).

I’ve been camping for most of my life, and I can’t believe I went all those years without some of these simple, yet game-changing, features. The brains of these features in the OneSource Li-Ion rechargeable battery.

4 amp USB, and 5 hours with a 1 amp USB. I didn’t time it when I charged mine, but it seemed pretty quick and lasted the duration of each of my trips. The integrated fan and LED lighting system are game changers.

Where has the integrated fan been my whole life. Many of my summer camping trips have been in pretty humid environments. With that came more than a few sleepless nights thanks to the heat and sweaty, damp air.

With this new fan, you can circulate that air by pulling in cooler outside air from the bottom of the tent while pulling the hot, humid air out through the top. This has also came in really handy when camping in the cooler, dry air of the Rocky Mountains.

When the air gets stale of hot, just pull in some cool, crisp outside air. Just incredible. The LED lighting system was a bit trickier to setup, but really not that complicated once I figured it out.

Having a built-in lighting system makes a world of difference. No more fumbling around with my flashlight at night or packing an extra lamp. Both of these incredible features are powered by the OneSource battery.

Battery life is dependent on the frequency in which you run each feature which is adjustable. If you haven’t noticed yet, I love this tent. Having a built-in lighting system and a fan to circulate air is completely game-changing in my opinion.

I’m not sure how I’d camp without these features now. My plan will be to get a second, backup battery in the future for longer trips. I highly recommend checking out Coleman and OneSource the next time your in the market for a tent or any new camping gear.
