I finally decided on the foray pants after researching rain pants for awhile. I’m 6ft 190lbs and wear a size 34-36 waist (depending on brand) and a 30 leg. They fit perfectly! there’s loose enough to be comfortable with a pair of convertible pants underneath.

without being too baggy. And theres enough stretch left in the waist band that it wouldn’t be a problem if I gained a couple of pounds. Also the length is perfect. The material is very light and thin.

I love the side zippers. They pack in to the pocket easily. Sails delivery was top notch as usual. they use a company that calls me when they arrive as I have a challenging address to deliver too.

As of yet, I haven’t worn them, in another week it will be 2 months since my tailor, has found a proper relief zipper. He always shortened my sleeves and pants. This is my issue; short and stout, built like a stove pipe.

It would be a good to offer length options on expensive pants as offered on other brands. This has been mentioned for some fifteen or so years from my end. Every thing you carry is top quality. It seems OR is sized to fit younger more athletic types, how about the remaining creatures, the aging and restless? Stay competitive guys.

I’ve used these pants in some pretty foul weather and it came out in flying colours, were comfortable, kept me dry. They feel very well made, have good zippers, clasps etc. They fit loose enough where I can wear them over pants, but not so loose that are baggy and clumsy to bike or hike with.

The elastic is tight enough to keep them from falling down, but stretch enough so I can still put stuff in/out of my inside pant pockets. The side zippers are fantastic, easy to slip over boots. All-in-all, I’m very impressed, great quality, good price, overall a really good value.

I originally found these pants on sale through another retailer but in the wrong size. Despite them being too small, I loved them so much I was determined to find them in the correct size, even if full price.

They sit pretty high and are snug around the waist and bum, hence why I sized up. But they are a great length, really lightweight, and comfortable. The zips at the bottom are great for slipping them on/off over boots.

I haven’t had a chance to really exert myself in them yet, so can’t speak to breathability.

I love these hiking/camping trousers. They are so versatile for turning them into shorts when the sun comes out and great for when it rains you can zip them back on (and they are colour coded). Very breathable and they come with a built-in belt! They are hardy and won’t fail you.

until you put on a few extra pounds! Like my title says, they are not stretchy which I find quite important now I have a pair of North Face stretchy ones. The stretchy ones are super comfortable, kinda like leggings for men, and great for unexpected climbs during hikes.

Gave this a good try since purchasing going on a good few outings. Had sideways rain today, not torrential, a good test. Was I drowned wet? No. If I hadn’t been wearing it I would have been drenched, however I was wet.

On the first few outings I thought maybe sweat buildup but today could prove it as the part of trousers where id gaiters underneath were bone dry. It is windproof so that helps when wet, but the advice of looking for fully waterproof trouser would be to look elsewhere.

I used these as ski pants cause I could not find anything that was baggy enough for the current style im going for while skiing, I ordered a Xxl in 34 inseam and they are perfect fit for super baggy! I can sinch them down to a 32 waist with the draw cord easily.

I had a full day on the mountain with cold and warm temps and the pants are working exactly as expected. It was very warm this morning at 10-2pm 38-35 degrees so if you ski you know that is quite warm and the pants didn’t feel too hot even in those temps, good ventilation from what I could tell.

Even riding the bus up this morning from the valley with 40-50 degree temps I didnt overheat. Then the real test came cause the clouds came in after 2pm the sun was gone and the wind kicked up to about 15mph so a wind chill felt like 20-18 degrees and again the pants performed extremely well I could not feel the wind or cold at all even on the longest lift ride up to the summit and stayed for another 7 runs and my toes were cold so it was time to go but the pants were perfect not too hot and kept me insulated and dry with only a pair of sweatpants and merino wool tights under.

5 stars good product columbia! update- These pants still rock! Have put them through a lot of tests even fallen on a few features in the park and they hold up better than my burton snowboard pants hit my knee on the box and made a big permanent scuff on the burton pants and had almost the exact same fall in the columbia pants and they didn’t leave a mark at all! They must have a little resistance to tearing with the material columbia uses and that day it was snowing like crazy with gusts of wind up to 20mph so very very cold and wet and the pants stayed warm and dry all day could not feel wind coming through at all!.

Was replacing an older pair of Columbia Omnitech rain pants, also a step up from the lowest cost. The new pair is good, seems are consistent, sizing is fine. A couple of things that are evident in how they are now reducing costs, and thus not up to a 5-star rating: The new rain pants do not have slits for pockets.

I was used to being able to easily reach a phone underneath the rain pant, but the new pants are totally sealed. Not a big deal, but just a little less convenient (and from Columbia’s perspective, fewer stiches).

Also, the new pants do not have any “breathable” lining. The old pants had a mesh interior, which allowed sweat to somewhat wick off when exercising. The new pants are not lined, just a waterproof exterior.

All-in-all though, for the price, these are reasonable for occasional use. They would not be sufficient if used on a daily basis (i. e. for work).

I bought these for curling. The fabric is very sturdy so won’t snag on the ice. Because the fabric is strong and tightly woven, they are warm even though the are unlined. The elastic in the waist is strong, and there’s a waist drawstring.

The legs are wide at bottom and a bit longer than advertised (I guess so they can cover a boot), and there’s a velcro cinch at ankle which can be used to tighten up the cuff; however he cinching strap ends up being angled wonky on the leg velcro when using a shoe because the 1.

25″ wide cinch strap doesn’t bend vertically. Most importantly though, I deducted 1. 5 stars because it doesn’t have ANY pockets.

These are a great fit and very durable. Handy ankle zippers to put on and remove hiking boots, too. Only drawback: no drawstring to support around the waist. The newer models, however, include this.

The quality and weight of this Gore Tex fabric is excellent, providing a comfortable fit while providing complete protection from the elements. It fits well with zippers at the base of the legs so it can be put on easily.

These pants seemed great. until I walked or moved in them. As soon as I took a step, I could feel the back waistband pulling down. If I crouched, I could feel the whole “plumber crack” thing happening.

These aren’t cut right. I’m 5’6″, 125lbs, athletic and got the medium which was the right size. The “articulated knees for improved mobility” are great, but they need to “articulated” the rear end or cut it differently so there’s some flex for when you walk/move.

Other than cut, they seemed like awesomely made pants. I’m really bummed the cut wasn’t better. had to return them.

I’d give these less than one star if I could. The quality is absolutely abysmal for the price. I wore these for about a month and a half on rainy days for my very short (10km) bike commute. Today I got to work and found a massive tear across the seat of the pants (not the seam, but the actual fabric of the pant).

I have NEVER fallen off my bike while wearing these pants, the tear simply happened when I was riding. In my opinion it is absolutely unacceptable to charge such a high price for something of such poor quality.

Please search elsewhere and do not waste your money. I could not possibly recommend these less.

I purchased these but haven’t had a chance to use them yet. Apparently I need to put in a review to enter into the sweepstakes. So I will tell you my 1st impressions. They are well constructed pants.

They are fairly light weight but the fabric used feels substantial. My intended use for these are for backpacking. And I’ve heard other complaints that there is no draw string or belt on these just elastic.

That does in fact seem to be the case but I have yet to find out whether or not this has a major effect on whether or not they will stay up while backpacking.

I’ve been using these for going up mountains in the snow in the PNW like St Helens and Hood. The main drawback is having to take my boots off if I want to take the pants off but it hasn’t really been an issue because the only time I’ve wanted to take them off is when I wore 2 layers under the pants and wanted to remove one because I was too hot.

And because it wasn’t cold out, there wasn’t an issue with taking off my boots. I also snagged crampons on them a few times and they seemed pretty resilient. So the main pros of being light weight and comfortable make up for any of the cons in my opinion.

I bought the Kinetic Alpine2 trousers after having picked up a pair of the original ones last year. I use the original pair sometimes twice a day and find them perfect to throw over trousers in wet weather in the mountains or on a dog walk.

The elasticated waste made them super comfy, the only reason I need new ones is there is a thorn in a knee and now they leak in heavy rain. So I bought the Kinetic Alpine 2. They seem to be a baggier cut and longer in the leg too.

The waste is now more tailored with poppers and a built in side belt, but are less comfortable and seem over baggy around the thighs and some how don’t feel as cut well as the originals. I’ll persevere with them, they are beginning to grow on me but if I had the choice of the two I’d have another set of the original ones rather than the 2s.

Having said that, Proflex is amazing, not sure I’ll ever have a Gortex waterproof again.

I’ve worn these pheasant shooting in SD, duck hinting in a blizzard in ID, and on many a wet hunt in South Georgia. If it’s cold (below freezing) and I’m moving, a thin silk long underwear layer is all I need.

If the temperature is going to get above about 60 and you’d be moving, these will get hot, but the side vents can fix that (don’t wear tightly whiteys). These britches are as tough as nails, completely waterproof, and very comfortable.

I do wear mine with braces (suspenders) because they are not light weight and tend to drag down. My only suggestion to Orvis would be to add braces buttons.

I bought these medium-sized pants and they are much larger than expected. I think they could be an XL size. I’m unable to return them as they were part of National Sports’ closing sale. The quality of the pants are great, with high quality details and fabrication.

I used theses pants over my jeans when Im working outside In this great Northeast weather. Plus my money is still dry when I reach into my pocket To pay for lunch and thats a first they are a great pair of pants and yes I would buy them again and I would also recommend them to anybody I know.

I love the feel and comfort. Great all weather pant. I would give it 5 stars except for sizing. The large is way to big and medium is a little snug. There is no in between. If happens to fit you right it a great item.

A great product. I’ve used these for elk and blacktail hunting in Western Washington, and have stayed completely dry bushwhacking through the coastal rainforest in a downpour. They are also pretty quiet and have an athletic cut.

I’m 6’5″ with a 36″ waist, the XL Tall are a perfect fit with some room for layers underneath.

Tried Pants on and they fit great. I am a size large and I ordered large. I don’t have sell Sitka gear, they sell themselves. Built by hunters for hunters. My experience with 1 shot gear went very well and I look forward to buying more gear from them.

These pants are extremely waterproof and very packable. Sitka’s warranty is why they are worth the money! I highly recommend these pants and jacket for anyone who wants a reliable set of packable rain gear!!.

I bought two of these – one for my husband, size L, and one for myself, size M. I am a tall woman, and it’s next to impossible to find practical hiking pants made for tall women. It feels like manufactures of good hiking gear mostly cater for men, and whatever is created for women, it is made to show our rear end in a tightly fitted leggings.

This is not good in mosquito-ridden hiking areas, makes it easier for them to bite through :). So, I started trying out some men’s stuff, and sometimes I hit a jackpot. The pants are light – Medium size is 7.

3 oz, I confirmed it on my high precision scale. They feel really good against bare skin. We tested the pants on two recent hikes. One was a snowstorm that gradually moved into freezing rain, an then plain rain.

I used the pants with a bottom layer, and I was really comfortable in the pants for two days in a row. They held up really well against abrasions, high wind, wet conditions. The other hike was not as dramatic, rain only, and I used the pants without a bottom layer.

And still liked them. Two thoughts: I am not sure if it’s a good idea to use the pants in a hot climate (like hiking in Costa Rica, we’ve done that too, but in shorts, no pants). I think I would boil inside of them.

I saw in another review that somebody bought the pants for a tropical trip. Not sure about that. Yes, they are very light, and seemed to breath, still. Second comment is about the drawstring. I did not need to use it, the pants safely stayed on my women-shaped body parts.

But my husband had hard time dealing with it, he just couldn’t figure out a way to keep it tight enough for the pants to stay on, and had to retighten it all the time.

It should basically be standard practice for rain shell pants to have full side zips. I am not bothering with removing crampons, boots, or a harness when it starts raining. I will say because they fight pretty tight over layers, the zip system can get finicky and it can be hard to remember which way you’re suposed to zip to take them off.

As a man who wears this with a harness a lot, it would also be nice to have a front zip when I have to relieve myself. Not too many rain shells have thought of this yet. We’ll get there someday. For as light and packable as they are, they held up quite well when practicing self-arrest and appear to be durable.

Lastly, they do in fact stretch a bit, even though they may feel tight around the hip putting them on. Had no problem mountaineering and ice climbing in these. Size reference: I am 5’9″ 175lbs and got mediums.

I originally purchased a different pair of rain pants for a multi-day backpacking trip but after laying out all of my gear, I realized they were too bulky and heavy. I ordered these hoping they would be better and they are much better for what I need.

They fold up small (even the zipper on the bottom of each leg) and they weigh a full 5 oz less than the other pair. That might not seem like a lot but for what I need, every ounce counts. The waistband is also more comfortable.

I can’t speak to how well they will keep me dry but I’m confident they will do the job. They run a little small, depending on what I compare them to. My trekking tights in two different brands (Fjallraven and Patagonia) are both Mediums and I needed a Large in these.

I have Columbia hiking pants that are a Large so maybe these aren’t small but the trekking tights are big. Regardless, those are my comparison sizes in other brands.

These are a Xmas present for a relative. Trousers look good and look the part, as advertised, but unfortunately I cannot comment on their effectiveness at this stage. Sorry

Have bought Corvo previously, these are not of the same quality material, maybe good waterproofing but nowhere near as resilient to tearing or abrasion from accidents (thorns, branches etc).

These trousers are comfy, waterproof, warm in the wind and easy to pout on and remove. My ONLY criticism is that the pockets are rather ‘shallow’ and are not that easy to access as they also seem ‘back to front’ otherwise yes THROUGHLY RECOMMENDED.

What can I say. Rain pants that keep my legs dry when it rains. Plus it looks like normal pants. Time to say yes to biking when it rains!

I was looking forward to a relaxing best-ball tournament on a Friday. Then, the forecast changed – temps in the 40-50 degree F range and intermittent rain. So, I bought these pants in a hurry on Thursday and wore them on Friday.

I was very happy to find that they kept me warm and dry from the waist down. They’re designed to allow movement. I felt no restriction while swinging the clubs, walking or sitting. They are sized to fit over pants.

I’m very happy with this purchase.

I tried these on in the store and they fit very well. My weight bounces around 10-20lbs so it’s nice to have the elastic waist band, and they fit loose in the legs, but not too loose. Not sure about weather conditions, but if you’re looking for a good pair of all around active pants these will do nicely! $70 seems a bit steep but you’re paying for the name and retailers markups,.

Not only are they great weather proof golf pants! They are also terrific standing on the sidelines or sitting in the stands at football games! And they look great also.

I just received this product so my comments are mostly focused on fit. I bought the pants for an upcoming second Grand Canyon rafting trip. A takeaway from my first trip is that quality outerwear is one of the most important determinants of comfort and ultimately enjoyment.

This is a relatively expensive, but high quality pants. It is waterproof, but using a material that allows for wicking of moisture; able to accommodate both being soaked with cold river water in storms and periods drifting in the hot sun.

It has adjustable waist and ankle closures which should help keep out the water. For now, I can only comment on the fit. The waist runs true to the size chart, in my case XL. The legs are long for me, but the ankle closures insure that they don’t hang over my feet.

The extra length may also facilitate the movements involved in paddling. Looking forward to trying this out on the Colorado River!.

These may be the most unattractive pants I’ve ever purchased. I truly dislike the weird cut, odd puffy areas, and the added bulk around lower stomach. Having said that, I am using them for kayaking in cooler weather and not to go out to dinner so I will likely keep them.

Good value on sale. These are LONG. I am 5’11 and they are a bit too long for me, bunching at the ankle. I am a plus size so, honestly the choices are limited I’d recommend these if you want to do any cooler weather water activities and you are above a size 12.

Bought these about 3 weeks ago for a 12 day Cataract Canyon/Lake Powell trip. ( late October 2020). I am 5’8 and weigh 140. I bought a large. I personally like/needed the larger size as I needed to be able to layer underneath.

They were perfect. The night before we launched there was a blinding snow storm. Our launch day was in the 20’s but blue skies. I was able to layer leggings and Sherpa lined jogging pants underneath the splash pants.

Bulky but WARM! The length was great, never had to yank them down at the cuffs. They stayed down and tight. A 23 ft raft and low water meant several wet pushes off sand bars and again these pants kept me and my under layers warm and dry.

The generous leg pocket was large enough to hold my camera or my iPhone. Most important I could remove them for quick photos with ease!! The Velcro is tuff but once in place I could forget about it for the rest of the day! Sweet! I hate pant Velcro that I constantly have to readjust! This pant did what it was suppose to do.

Kept me warm and dry with ease.

Ideal over trousers for wet days on the golf course. They are light , loose and a s little stretchy which is ideal for taking shots. Perfectly water and wind proof too. Only one right side pocket could do with another but very good value.

I can also wear them for walks or watching matches in really cold wet days.

Purchased these pants for hiking and daily dog walks in the rainy pacific NW. No bushwhacking or backpacking, just everyday use. They became water permeable after one winter/rainy season. Water was coming through on the front tops of the knees and the front up around pocket height.

Not a very good value for single season use.

The first thing is that the pants aren’t waterproof, they’re water resistant. Secondly, these pants only have one pocket. Thirdly, pants seem to have a lot of room in the bottom and little in at the top, rather than less space around bottom part and more around thighs.

This product isn’t worth $80. This is how it goes when you buy something online, you never know what you’ll get. I thought I’d get something that’s high quality, since it’s from Columbia, but I was wrong, the product shouldn’t cost more than $20.

Top quality, and well designed. As these are the ‘Plus’ version, the side zips run the whole length, so you can basically just wrap them round if you wish. No hopping around on one leg trying to pull them over muddy boots.

In reality, I’ll just unzip them from the bottom to put on – the zip down from the top is for access to pockets, ventilation. There are poppers at the top and bottom of the leg zips too. The waist is elasticated with a draw string – I ordered my normal waist size, and it was plenty big enough – the allow enough room for them to go over trousers.

The fabric is gore-tex, so no issues there.

Rab makes great technical clothing. My wife and I have numerous pieces of their clothing and have yet to be disappointed. These rain pants are well designed, lite weight, easily packable and rain has not got through them while being quite breathable.

They can be put on over hiking boots because of the side zippers and the cuffs can be tightened up so not flopping around when you walk. Most of the Rab clothing we have purchased tends to be on the slim/trim side.

That works well for us but if you are not familiar with their products it would be worth while trying on to determine what their sizing is like.

We love the Evolution Valley rainpants and needed to size up for my growing daughter. This was the “closest” currently available option. We are not impressed. The fit through the thighs and bottom is weird, the fabric is horrible (noisy, crinkly, not very flexible).

About the only thing in it’s favour is the side zips from the cuffs. Returning, and hoping for the Evolution Valley to come back.

Love these pants, I just wish they had front pockets. I also wish you would make an XS in your regular fishing pants for ladies. Petites are too short for me and I cannot find XS anywhere. Don’t know if this is a market that you might be missing.

Great for hiking! Fits true to size and high quality. Bought these with the intention of going hiking (while potentially raining) and they did the job.

It is a good over trouser for light to medium rains of short duration. Recently i had to use this while coming down from a hike. It rained for sometime till i reached my vehicle. But some water had seeped inside.

So not completely waterproof but yes in its absence i would’ve had to change my inner pants. Could be better. Also need to add side pockets. Even though it has a chain at the bottom it doesn’t serve the purpose as u can’t put it on with hiking shoes on.

This is a good rain trouser for daily commutes in the city mostly during rains.

I would like to suggest to buy the product in decathlon as they are maintained quality, easy shipment portals in online as well as at stores. Comparing to other brands decathlon exclusive offline stores allows customer to know the best fitsize to person to person and also allowing to check the right quality before purchasing of the product.

In my concern, customer always satisfies with right quality and right product. As decathlon fullfill the same under the two categories. Hence as i said i suggest all your people to go and check the stores and purchase the items.

I am a 30″ waist and have never worn anything labelled 32″W as they would be too big. These trousers are called overtrousers and should be big to take into account that they will be worn over your attire to avoid them getting wet.

I ordered a 32″W-33″L that would be big enough to go over my clothes. When they arrived and tried on it was immediately obvious that they were too small and quite tight and clung to my legs, which would no doubt make my clothes wet in a shower of rain.

I checked the label which said 32″W-33″L. I measured them and they were actually 26″Waist – 31″Leg. The elastic waist would actually stretch to fit my waist but would never go over clothes to fit properly.

If you wish to order these then take this incorrect labelling into account. Mine were returned and a new ordered from elsewhere.

Before retiring I used my suit coat to carry cellphone, keys, glasses, calendar, etc. Since then I have relied on these Cresta pants, both lined and unlined (have 2 pairs of each) because they have pockets that are the perfect size and placement, particularly for the cellphone.

I wear them for everything from hiking to church – they are that versatile in looks and utility. Way more functional than my old khakis. My only misgiving is size. I cinch my belt at size 33, and have previously ordered that size in these pants.

Seemed a bit big, but on my last order I thought I’d take a chance on 33 again because the catalog showed them running true to size. When my new lined pants came, again biggish. So I ran a tape measure around the waist from snap to snap, and use enough, the measure was 35 inches.

I got the same result when I went back to measure the previous pants. I can fix that by cinching my belt tighter, and the pants don’t look baggy, so I can live with it. But I can’t agree that the advertised size runs true.

I got these lined pants with thin water -repellent outer in olive green in size 35w & 29″L for my husband. He’s 5’10” & 170lbs & these fit PERFECTLY!!! He loves these as it’s so comfortable & practical for daily am walks in country home in NE in Dec -March.

Its perfect esp if there’s light rain or snow. The light outer fabric is water repellent & so comfortable ( bec it’s thin & light unlike other brands that tend to be thick n heavy -too restricting) I got these because you offer hard to find 29″L! Most are 32″ & by the time you pay for hemming lined pants the price goes way over $80! These pants are also great for both outdoor/casual as well as casual:dress occasions.

I live in Wisconsin and am very sensitive to the cold. These pants are just what I need to be comfortable in the winter. Ever since I bought these I’ve worn them every day and have even bought a 2nd pair.

Being thin, I basically have no natural body insulation. These pants give me the insulation I need to stay warm and comfortable. I live in an old drafty house and have been working from home all winter.

Previously I would never be warm sitting in my drafty house even if I was wearing long johns, pants, and had a blanket. But something about these pants keeps me warm. I can also comfortably wear these outside down to about 30F.

After that I’ll layer some long johns underneath them (Before I owned these I would start layering long johns beneath jeans at 50F). These pants were a bit pricey for me, but very much worth it.
