20 Best Water Sandals For Women (2023 Updated)

Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve purchased Reef sandals and these do not disappoint! Very comfy. Feel like butter! Love that they don’t look cheap or plastic. These are going to be a summer staple. They look great with a casual summer outfit.

Bonus that they are waterproof. These do not disappoint. Purchased my normal size (9), and the fit is perfect.

I was looking for a pair of lightweight/packable, waterproof, cute, easy-to-wash and quick dry, but most importantly COMFORTABLE shoes, and these hit all the marks. I’m a 38, so ordered an 8 and a 7 and ultimately went with the 7s, which I don’t regret.

I did get a bit of rubbing on the pinkie toes of my wide feet (it was 100F, or my feet were still swollen a bit from 18hrs of international travel) but nothing I wouldn’t expect with any other pair of sandals.

Highly recommend after 20 days of hoofing it around heat-wave Italy in these.

I have been eyeing these for 2 years. This year I finally bought them and I’m totally in love. They are totally comfortable and fully waterproof. I have narrow feet so I was worried they would feel too big.

Not an issue. I am normally a 7. 5 I bought size 7 and they fit just right. The color is a soft pink. Less beige. Definitely recommend them.

I was in desperate need after my other beloved brand flipped their last flop. I ordered two pairs on Amazon to start (just because I thought I could do a quick and easy return if they didn’t fit), and to my surprise–these fit very LARGE–and I have huge feet (I’m a 9.

5 wide in most shoes). I ordered a size 9 and they were huge! So I returned for size 8, and they were perfect! I was so excited to have waterproof flip flops (we live on a lake in SC and it rains here a lot, too) that I ordered duplicate colors and the adobe, as well.

The little ridges feel like a massage each time you walk, and there is zero rubbing between your toes. Great cushion, nothing distracting in the design, the perfect go-with-everything sandal. Arch support for days–happy feet here! Buy these, but size down! Woot!.

These flip flops hug the foot rather nicely. Has fair arch support, could use more for us higher arches. They run a little long at the toes, as I compared them with other pairs of Reefs I own. Looking forward to wearing them at the beach.

I am not much of a flipflop wearer but I do like these. For flipflops, they have decent arch support and don’t hurt my feet after walking in them. They do get a little slippery when wet, but dry fast.

I also have wide feet and these worked well.

The good: Thick soles have excellent support (I have high arches and these soles are SO comfortable) and great traction while still having good ground feel. Fat toe cap provides substantial protection from tripping, stubbed toes, and unexpected pointy things.

Easy to clean, just run some water over them and you’re good. The bad: Thick vertical stitching on the INSIDE of the heel straps was a TERRIBLE design decision — had to wrap in fresh moleskin or bandages for every hike, or else get blisters on the backs of my heels.

And now, a month outside of the warranty period, with maybe 80 miles on them total (I bought them last summer and I only wear them to hike in warm weather, I don’t wear them as casual shoes), the stitching on the inside is coming loose.

I discovered this at the end of a hike this weekend, when the tops of one foot came out bloody from the loose strings that had been rubbing against my skin for miles. The soles are so comfy that they make me want to try a different pair of Keen sandals with the same sole.

But I’m not sure whether to trust the brand with a second pair after the first started coming apart and ripping up my feet, with less than 100 miles on them.

I have owned a pair of KEEN men’s Newports for years. They are great for light hiking, wading, lake day, boating and more. Recently we purchased a boat, so I bought my wife a pair of these. First, she loved the fun colors.

It appears every pair might be unique (can’t say for certain, but hers don’t match the picture). She wears them for everyday shoes in the summer. They were great for a lake day a week ago. They fit securely on your feet so they don’t fall off when you wade in the water.

Here in North Texas, the soil burns your feet at the lake, so they are great for walking on the burning sand or asphalt at the boat ramp. The soles are sturdy and have good grip, so if the ground is uneven or slippery, these are great.

If these are the same build quality as mine, she will wear them for many years to come. I’ve had my Newports since 2017 or 2018, and they have endured some rugged terrain. We both love our KEEN Newports.

If you are in and out of the water a lot, these are awesome, but they are also great every day shoes for the summer.

A Keen for thru-hikers that doesn’t feel like a tank. I have been wearing Newport H2’s for thousands of miles but they are heavy by today’s standards (men’s 9 was 15. 1oz/shoe) and the sew quality has tanked in recent years (READ: they suck and don’t last, expect to repair early).

I can’t wear the CNX’s with a pack because they are too minimal and don’t offer enough protection and support. Regardless, a decent lightweight off-road runner comes in at 12oz or less (think, Altra’s of the world).

These SOLR’s come in at 11. 6oz/shoe. Lighter than the H2’s but beefier then the CNXs. Very comfortable, true to size, and fit a thin runner sock and/or neoprenes for when it gets cold and wet. For those who don’t understand the impact of weight, or for those trying to reduce their load, work on the weight on your feet.

Weight on your feet is analogous (nearly) to the MOI (moment of inertia) on a bike wheel–the reason weight on a hub is irrelevant compared to the same weight on the rim. The reason cyclists/triathletes, and thru-hikers [should be], more concerned about weight on their feet is because it is the equivalent of ~5x’s that on your pack.

I refer you to the study done by the military decades ago and others more recently. 1 oz off your foot is ~5oz off your pack. Do the math. 1 oz X 5 oz, X ~2,112 steps per mile, equals 660 pounds–per mile! PER SHOE! Now do the math for a quarter pound on one foot.

You get the idea. I only have one grip. Keen if you are listening, the slight reduction in arch support (compared to the H2) is noticed. Please add a bit more arch support (i. e. height) so that it is at least the equivalent of the H2.

I purchased the white not knowing you can purchase the black, its a different item number. I decided to keep the white pair. I wear so much black that the white looks great in contrast. I wear a size 8 1/2 and ordered the 9.

Great fit. I have a narrow foot and no issues. Back strap doesnt irritate , toes have plenty of room. Sandals are so lightweight and very comfortable to run errands. Im replacing my old thong summer sandals that have become uncomfortable.

Love its water friendly shoe. Flattering sandals and so in style. I will be wearing them daily with pants, skirts, dresses. I had read so many positive reviews before I purchased.

These water shoes are cute and versatile. I wore them to the beach and walked in the ocean with them. It didn’t feel like water got trapped inside and they didn’t slip off. I also wore them to walk around.

I have wide feet and these fit well. The only problem I had was I’m an 8 and these are not true to size. You should size up but they don’t have half sizes. I’m not sure if a whole size up would fit. Some evenings I had to take the sling back down and wear them like slip ons because it was digging into the back of my heel.

Worked fine but didn’t look cute. I also wore them in the city with lots of walking and they aren’t the best for lots of walking but I still managed. This is why I think they are versatile.

Absolutely love these Sea Star Beachwear Slingback Espadrille Water Shoes! Ordered these to wear at the pool because I have sensitive feet and the concrete hurt the bottoms of my feet when I walk barefoot.

I wear a true 7 1/2, ordered an 8 after reading the reviews. They fit perfectly! The elastic strap on my heel feels like it’s going to keep the shoes on during walking and if I get them wet. The soles are a non-slip rubber and will keep my feet from slipping around.

The toe area is roomy and what I was most concerned about. I like that they’re cute to wear out casually too. Bonus: They came with a shoe bag to carry them in!.

I had a pair of Keen H2’s for a long time, of the fabric variety. These leather uppers and sole are, I think, significantly more comfortable. I use them more for hiking and around town, not really water sports, so the fabric version would probably excel there.

But the comfort, fit, and quality are outstanding. I don’t agree with going up in size. I’m an 11 1/2, but I ordered a 12. Felt large, too much room around foot. I exchanged for the 11 1/2, and it’s perfect.

It may feel “a bit” tight at first, but like any quality leather, it will adjust fairly quickly. These are exactly on point for size, so I’d resist the temptation to order a half-size up. I still have a pair of Keen hiking midsize shoes I’ve worn for 7 years extensively, and the soles have held up well.

People have mentioned ad nauseam to go with a vibrant soled shoe instead, but I can personally attest, having hiked with Keens on Mr. Fuji, Machu Picchu, Tikal, couple volcanos in Guatemala, and through city streets all throughout Europe, Keens are WORTH THE MONEY.

Don’t be duped just because a brand is slightly cheaper with “upgraded” soles. I’ve tried those (their flagship model), and while similar, is not on par with Keen quality.

These sandals couldn’t be more comfortable considering the multiple medical issues of my feet. The additional arch support in the Verra style is perfect; the Shoc Pad heel cushions absorb the impact of each step; and the front straps don’t cramp or pinch my toes.

Shortly after purchasing my first pair of the Verra style in black, I bought a pair of the blue ones. When initially trying them on, I thought the new blue ones fit exactly the same as the black ones I have been wearing for a couple of weeks, but because of someone’s 1-star review indicating that the blue/green (Arona Sagebrush) color was a full ½ size smaller than the black ones, I tried the blue ones on again, and indeed they are the same exact fit.

To be 100% sure, however, I conducted a couple of experiments. First, I took the left-foot shoe of my black pair and put it side-by-side on a level surface with the left shoe of the blue pair, placing the left black shoe to the right of the blue left shoe, and sure enough the black one visually appeared longer.

Then I reversed the two left shoes, placing the left black shoe to the left of the blue one, and then the blue shoe looked longer. No explanation for this phenomenon, but I could understand what that reviewer was referring to.

Since this seemed inconclusive after doing a second comparison using the black and blue right-foot shoes, I did one last test by using a lined legal pad, marking a couple of spots on the paper to be sure that the shoes would be placed exactly the same, and also put a metal ruler on a straight line near the bottom of the pad to ensure they were both measured from the exact same place, then drew a pencil outline of the black shoe and then the blue shoe.

The black shoe and the blue shoe measured exactly the same! They feel so awesome, even when worn all day long. The blue color is exactly as pictured online. They are so pretty, but more importantly, so comfortable!.

I’ve had these shoes for 6 years so this is a seasoned review. PROS – comfort – started off super cushy. Loved that I had a sturdy sandal to go hiking with or go in water and not worry they would slip off.

CONS – After so many years the cush isn’t so cushy, its aged and is kinda hard now. In the beginning I had to break in the shoe and my foot skin needed to toughen up. The suede little flaps under the straps are meant to protect your foot, but they actually just get pushed out of place during the walking/hiking leaving your foot exposed to the strap which can be a little rough & then painful on the sore red skin it’s created.

Once I wore these enough the skin on the top of my foot toughened and got used to it. SIZE – I’m a 7. 5, got the 7s as recommended, they fit but not perfectly, my heel is too close to the back edge of the shoe, 8s would have been too big.

THE FOOT SLUDGE – The grooves on the shoe also do catch a lot of dirt as other reviews mentioned. I would always have “foot sludge” on the bottom of my foot & shoe that I’d need to clean off after every wear, it also got stinky, and I don’t even have smelly feet.

Overall would give a 3. 5 start rating. Fills a need but could be better.

I was very hesitant to spend the money on these, I figured they would wear out quickly and not be very durable (I go through shoes and boots insanely quick), but boy am I glad I made that purchase! I have been absolutely blown away by these for the past 3 years.

Yes, I’ve been somehow wearing the same pair for 3 years and they’re only just now starting to get a bit slick on the bottom from wearing the tread down. They are more comfortable than any shoe or hiking boot I’ve ever had, I wear them any time I can as long as it’s not too cold out.

I had been planning to buy Chacos because, I don’t know, that seemed like the thing to do, I thought Chacos looked cool. But these Tevas are WAY more comfortable and usable. Chacos are so stiff and clunky I’d never be able to hike in them the way I have in these.

I can’t believe they haven’t broken or worn out after all the use. I’ll absolutely get another pair once these need replacing, I wouldn’t dream of trying anything else. I think they run true to size, or even are a bit big (at least the version of them 3 years ago).

Initial fit is fine. I very much like the style and colour (claret). It’s a bit too wide in the toe box area (this is wide, even very wide) for me you would need very wide or deep feet for it to fit perfectly.

I am average width and quite flat feet. But because the fit is not deep in the same area I’m hoping it will continue, as the leather softens, to fit me well. Time will tell. The fitting around the ankle and heel are superb with good adjustablity.

I have high hopes for these sandals and due to their cost (expensive) I’m hoping they will last me a few years.

I get a pair of these for my daughter every year, usually the ones with the thicker soles but they’re not available in larger sizes. I find Salt water sandals always fit a bit larger than all her other shoes.

Anyway, they’re very durable and can be worn in water which is ideal in summer. I love red shoes so I got her the red ones and surprisingly they work with most outfits. She loves them. Shipping was super quick!.

This site account for the fact saltwater sandals need to be sized up. I ordered a UK8 and the box says 9. Fit great. Very comfortable considering ordering another pair. After wearing sponge flip-flops for a while these initially felt hard underfoot but I am getting used to it.

They do them with a sponge sole I might try them. Great!.

Very comfortable and has firm support. I have narrow heels and these straps are perfect for me as they are adjustable. I purchased these for golfing and they are perfect with the closed toe cap. The soles are very good for gripping.

Overall a great sandal for walking.

I was concerned these might not fit as I have a wider foot, but they are terrific and super comfy. I haven’t yet tested them in water — the water is still too cold — but they are good on rocks. I’d love a second pair in a different colour, one for the water, one for hiking.

Most comfortable sandals ever purchased, I’m 58 and my young grandchildren have these, because you can go on the sand and in the water with them I thought why not. Ideal for at the beach or just chasing them around.

I’ve had my share of hiking sandals but none felt like sandals, just heavy vented shoes. I think my problem was buying hiking sandals from hiking shoe companies and not looking at sandal companies for hiking sandals.

My last pair (Keen), trapped rocks in the sandals, the sandals was so difficult to put on that I would suffer with the rocks under my foot rather than try to remove the sandals and put them back on. Most of my sandals have last 2-3 hikes before I gave up on them.

Not this Teva. I’ve worn the Hurricane XLT2 Teva on 4 hikes already and I’ve had zero issues. They feel like sandals and the sole has plenty of support and protection from the terrain. I’ve yet to stub my toe which was a big concern.

I’m in between sizes so got a size above per recommendation. When I got the sandals I was really worried it was too big but with three adjustable straps, it was never an issue. I slid my foot as far forward as possible and strapped down the heel strap so my foot wouldn’t slide and it hasn’t.

Another concern was the plastic triangle holding the straps was hitting a knuckle when I tried it on. But once on the trail it wasn’t an issue and I totally forgot about it. I’m really happy with this purchase.

I had been looking at this sandals for some time but they always sold out. If this one ever ware out, I’ll purchase the exact same one. No more shopping around.

I have long been an advocate of minimalist shoes–zero drop, flexible, minimal support. But, recently I started experiencing plantar fasciitis, a painful heel condition. I was taking a trip and could tell the thin sole was not going to work for me as I walked any distance.

I found the cushier sole much more comfortable for me, and I wore them in and out of the salt water and canoe daily. Once on a long walk through a sandy area, I developed a blister with the sand rubbing between my foot and the strap, but that would probably happen with any sandal.

And they did develop a pretty bad odor at times. Fortunately, they were easy to wash and dried relatively quickly, so that was an easy fix. I still believe in the more “natural” shoe concept, but for now, this shoe has worked well for me.

I also like the extreme flexibility of having three adjustable straps that the velcro then firmly holds in place.

I picked up these sandals to serve as my water shoes on a recent trip canoeing in the Boundary Waters. I was nervous about their ability to workout for portaging the canoe, but another camper who had done it before assured me it would be fine.

And wouldn’t you know it, it was! I didn’t buy these in advance enough to fully get used to where the straps land, but despite that (and after spending a while adjusting them), I only got a couple small blisters right at the end of the trip.

This was with constantly getting in and out of water and hiking bags or canoes through portages. I never felt like my feet got specifically tired because of my shoes. They stayed decently anchored even when trying to take big steps in water, or when my feet got stuck in deep mud.

They felt decently secure over wet surfaces and rocks (I didn’t slip any more than anyone else, at least. ) I’m looking forward to continuing to use these a lot at home as they look pretty nice, and they’ll probably be my go-to water shoes for most things going forward.

Fit is easily adjustable with the large Velcro tab on top but I can see this wearing down quickly over time. Easier to put on versus fitted water socks/water shoes with no Velcro or adjustable closure (I.

e. , the kind that you just pull on like a sock). Also the drainage holes are helpful but your feet may feel a little weird or cold at first as it will directly touch water in those mesh areas versus other designs.

Overall a good shoe at a decent price. But do not expect it to last as long as less easy to put on styles of water shoes.

I needed an enclosed pair of water shoes for a trip into the BWCA. They worked great! Super comfortable, hard soled, and waterproof. I was able to hop into the water without thinking to pull gear in and out of the lake.

I wore them for two BWCA trips last summer plus numerous paddle boarding day trips. They’re still in great condition and I’m looking forward to wearing them again next summer on my wilderness trips.

My daughter really likes this water shoe because she can tighten it across the top of her foot rather than around her ankle. She has a very skinny ankle, making it hard to close a water shoe very snugly.

We bought these after her last water shoe slipped off her foot in the ocean and washed away! It’s also very stylish. She’s very happy with this purchase.
