20 Best Water Jugs For Camping (2023 Updated)

Here in the USA we take for granted our drinking water. Most of us are one disaster away from not having clean drinking water. These Coleman 5 gallon containers are just the right size to fill up with water and carry.

These Coleman containers are made from heavy duty thick plastic with a built in grab handle. Each has a removable lid with a built in spigot. I hope we never have to resort to filling these jugs every day or so for hydration.

Should a major disaster come our way these will do nicely until such crisis is over. These are also excellent for camping, sailing or traveling on a long trip. We can never be too safe when it comes to drinking water.

Humans in average shape and perfect conditions (not too hot or cold) can probably live for three to five days without any water if they’re not physically exerting themselves. Healthier people can live a day or so longer, while those who are unhealthy or exposed to particularly hot or cold weather may not survive as long.

To stay healthy, you need to continually replenish your fluid supply. Experts recommend drinking approximately two quarts (64 ounces or about eight glasses) of water each day. Of course, if you live in an extremely hot or cold area or if you exercise a lot you may need to drink a gallon or more of water every day.

I figure about a gallon a day per person. I may just order two more just in case.

Keeps your liquids chilly, like it’s supposed to. It won’t keep solid ice for days but it’s not intended for that. About the spigot, yeah, it drools a little after you release it. Nothing worth leaving a bad review over, it just drips a little when you’re done.

Since you can’t just shake it a few times, just leave your cup there for a fraction of a second after you release the spigot. The drips go into your cup and not on the table. Boom, problem solved. Lid stays on tight, I haven’t flipped the thing upside down, but it did ride in the back of the truck without spilling.

I have owned 5 of those jugs every time I visit my home country I leave one there for one of my family members as a gift. Then, I will purchase a new one when I get back. I only wish that Stanley was still making the 1 gallon jugs.

Nowadays, I own two of them. One 1gallon and one 2gallon, I literally care it with me every single day doesn’t matter where I am going. I make my own ice with bigger water bottles cut them out of the there and throw inside of the jug sometimes it will last me a couple of days the ice.

Stanley quality and the perfect size for my drinking water. The size works well to keep your water cool and ready for a weekend adventure. The top latches work much nicer than the screw type of other products and having the airflow vent in the lid is perfect.

Pink wasn’t my 1st choice, but Stanley was out of the white to match my Stanley cooler and the green for a more classic look. The pink looks good in person and is pretty light. Great product!.

This Scepter 04933 Military Style water container is amazing with how it’s set up and works. It comes with a spout that has a screen in it to make sure nothing is coming out but water. The spout also can be stored inside of the container when not in use.

The spout is great. My large family loves to camp and go four wheeling. We always need to haul water and it’s so much easier using the Scepter water containers. Easier to carry and easier all the way around when having to haul water.

A great water container for camping! Just recently went on a camping trip for a few days and this water container was absolutely great to bring along because we never had to go back to town to buy more water as this holds 5 gallons which was more than enough for a few days of camping for my girlfriend and I.

The container has a wonderful solid construction to it and a great flexible pour spout which makes it very easy to fill other containers with water. The seal was watertight and had absolutely no leaks whatsoever with the water spout in or out for pouring.

I would highly recommend this military-style 5 gallon water container by Scepter!.

Please if the cap which many at this price range leak stand it up when not using them. Simple. I have 6 filled at all times I store them standing to just below the vent hole 6. 5 gallons never leak. When being used tell people when finished stand them up unless it is a kid.

For this price I cannot beat someone down for what to me works great. If I paid 50. 00 or more I get it. 56 lbs of water pressure is a lot.

This cooler is great for kids and adults alike. I remember using these at my own soccer games many moons ago!! Always icy cold, excellent insulation, if u put juice in for kids the ice will water it down a bit; just remember to shake before pouring.

The pour spout is great for water bottles, kids cups, even your mouth or those lil’ portable air machines. If u have kids, or like to enjoy your bevvies cold, opt in. The seals are also great and u don’t have to worry about a grain of sand getting in!!!!!.

@Coleman I have been using this jug for a couple of weeks now and it meets my expectations. I had a minor leak here or there the first few days, but I found that this occurs only when the seal is wet when the top is screwed on.

I just make sure it’s dry when I screw on the lid and there are no leaks. You can’t beat the price to have iced water (or whatever drink you prefer) readily available at all times. Quit wasting your money on bottled water! Plus, I found that if you fill it with a bunch of ice and water, it takes longer than 24 hours for the ice to melt completely.

Got this for my boyfriend who whorls outside all year round. He is a gutter/roofer so when he’s working he’s never in shade. Thank god we won a game and he pick out this water jug as his prize. Him getting this product had To be the best thing for ANOYONE who works or spends long hours outside or just a few hours at the beach.

What we do when we know it’s going to be a hot day is we fill the bottoms like and I h up with water and throw it in the freezer NOW THATS A WHOOOOLD NÉE LEVER OF COLD!.

As advertised and a decent deal considering how high water container prices have gotten. Holding water well. Kids dont seem to quite cinch down to the lock on the lid but this may resolve itself through use.

Didnt leak when left on its side for several minutes but should be stored upright none the less.

I bought these to use for hauling water for dogs and chickens this winter. They stack up in my little wagon perfectly and carry plenty of water. With the two cans, I can haul enough water for all my dogs, chickens, and even a small herd of pygmy goats, all at once.

Only problem is, they tend to drip a small amount if caps not tightened really well. Great product, I will be buying more soon.

I just received the item and therefore haven’t used ii yet. That said, the price was reasonable and the quality appears excellent. While it is not as sturdy as the 5 gallon U. S. Military Surplus Scepter Water Can for civilian emergency preparedness evacuation situations it is more than sturdy enough.

It is also about 2 and a half time cheaper. I will buy a few more.

The Reliance Desert Patrol Water Container is the best value for transporting water for camping, overland and general storage (small container). Handle and hand grip on bottom of container make them easy to pour.

Three gallon size is nice for handling and working with, not to heavy. Size and shape make them easy to pack, transport and store. cheers,.

Nice features; size is good (water is heavy) good pour spout storage, good handle placement, and OD green is an awesome color. Initial leak test proved no leaks, longer duration testing in progress prior to 1st camping use.

Time will tell.

My only complaint is the lid is not insulated. Even sotting it in the shade, the lid is covered in condensation & acts only as a dust cover rather than an insulated lid. I purchased it because it has the drink spout on the top & it is larger than 32 oz.

If I figure out how to insulate the lid without contaminating the contents it will be a perfect cooler.

The Rubbermaid 1 gallon jugs are great until the o ring under the spout starts hanging up! I use this jug 5 days a week all day long at work and I usually get about 6 months out of them till the o ring screws up.

I buy this one specifically because it fits perfectly in the dozer I operate. It keeps ice all day long as long as its not in direct sunlight all day.

Leaks! Great cooler, but leaks bad. Looks loke its missing the O-ring, but they all looked like that. Bought it anyways thinking it would be fine. Yep, you will defenitly get your shirt wet from drinking from this one.

This is definitely a military grade water container. It is expensive, but very tough. The inside needs to be thoroughly cleaned out but that’s not a big deal. The only real issues I have with this can is it’s fatter than the NATO jerry cans and hard to squeeze in a Wavian holder.

also I wish I went with the one without “Property of US Government” molded in the side because I’m deeply ashamed of the US government at this time and want no part in such a socialist anti-liberty regime.

I’ll have to shave the letters “US Government” off and melt my name in their place.

These potable water containers appear to have thicker plastic, thus, hopefully, more durable than other containers of similar type purchased in years past. I thought three stars was sufficient. They arrived by date indicated, they appear acceptable to use for desired purpose.

These “attributes” are merely as advertised. I did not appreciate the inflated price relative to two of same containers bought mere months ago. Additionally, they have deep grooves, likely due manufacture that I don’t think will compromise purpose.

Nevertheless, scarring is extensive. Cost was ~ $70-75 per container.

Happy with this purchase, they are good quality. Made in Canada. There’s a plastic smell though it’s not too bad, hope it’ll wear off soon. Seems like they should last a very long time.

We love this water jug. The plastic aired out in a day. (Unlike another water container we bought. It’s been 2 years and the other one still smells strongly of plastic). The water in here doesn’t pick up any plastic taste and if you get the Dometic GO faucet, you have a great water dispensing station which is easy to carry and pack in the car.

You can easily pop off the faucet and store it separately. We’ve used it to wash hands, dishes, and fill our cups and tumblers. Not one complain from a potentially whiny bunch.

This jug is designed for easy water storage and dispensing. The additional (included) pour spigot is very convenient. It packs in the car upright to conserve space, but tilts easily for dispensing. Also much appreciated are the carrying straps for ease of moving and repositioning.

I had water stored in it for several days and it tasted great to the end – no synthetic vinyl taste as happens in so many water storage containers.

Simple in its premise. A 11L jug to carry water. But leave it to Dometic to really think through everything: appreciate the wide opening to clean the inside, the variety of methods to get the water out (Works exceptionally well with the Dometic camp faucet), but also great for just pour water out easily or hooking up another way.

Also appreciate it came with a spigot at no extra cost. Highly recommended. Durable, Easy to Carry and Stowable inside or out.

I love how it keeps my drink icy cold! The ice is still frozen after 24 hours. However, I don’t love the mouth opening design. The product description did not clearly explain that the design does not allow a straw to fit through the top like the the original plastic jug mouth design.

I was prompted to not forget to buy my straw, and I did buy a new one, yet it is useless with this product. The straw that came attached to the mouthpiece also becomes useless when you get about 60% done with your water as it does not allow you to access the rest of the water.

I had to remove the straw it came with to get better function. Especially given how heavy the jug is when filled with ice and water, it would be much better if you didn’t have to lift and tilt for every sip but could use the straw like on the original product.

Also hoping they come out with a strap for this version. It is the best water bottle I have ever had in that it allows me to carry a large quantity of water and it keeps it cold better than any I have ever had, but for the price I would like it to offer some of the options that turned me on to hydrojug to begin with (carrying ability and straw use).

The color is great but something about the coating makes it seem to get dirty quickly, stickers should help with that!.

I got this water bottle during a Memorial day weekend sale. I’ve only ever previously owned Hydro Flask water bottles but have been wanting a half gallon/gallon water bottle that’s stainless steel, since I really enjoy cold water.

I was tired of having tk always refill my previous water bottles a million times a day but now I only refill once or twice a day and I am able to stay hydrated during the day at work. My order shipped fast and was delivered within less than 5 days.

I love the ability to have a straw inside that is removable and can be used with or without the straw. I love that the water bottle has a silicon bottom so you don’t dent your water bottle when placing it down.

My water stays cold for days. It overall is pretty light and has a nice sturdy handle to carry the water bottle. My only issue which is super minor is that if the jug falls over in the car it does leak sometimes which isn’t the end of the world.

I overall am really satisfied and find my first purchase through hydro jug to be of good quality.

The triple walled insulation of the Stainless Steel edition pair perfectly with my Classic. As I drink the water in the Stainless, the ice remains and doesn’t melt. I always keep the Classic nearby to top off my ice-filled-albeit sans-liquid-Stainless.

It’s a great match. This Stainless Steel bottle is by far the best hydration bottle I’ve ever used and is durable enough to withstand the rigors of my daily life.
