20 Best Water For Brewing Beer (2023 Updated)

This the first comprehensive book on water analysis when brewing (for serious brewers only) that is readable even for those of us without a chemistry degree. Prior to this publication, I had to search videos and every brewing book for the little information I could find on water chemistry when brewing.

Some sections you have to push through but don’t let that deter you. The information like, Table 18 and 19, is indispensable when adjusting your water for the beer style you are brewing. With this book and a water calculator spreadsheet (available on line), you should be ready to go to the next level in brewing.

Extremely helpful for the advanced brewer who wants to learn more. Water is the least understood and most used ingredient in brewing. This book breaks it down for the homebrewer and the probrewer (of which I am both).

Answered all of my questions, had super technical chemistry but also concise explanations if you are not a chemistry major, and has a table that outlines water profiles for every style which is invaluable.

Can’t say enough good stuff about this book.

Great book; lots of info; goes into a lot of depth about water and gives examples for changing water profiles, which is cool. A bit too much on the jargon sometimes, so some is tedious to get through but you can always turn the page—can skim through and read different chapters also.

Allows for accurate measurements of fluids, especially solutions that are dispensed in gallon increments. Being a one gallon container permits easy transport. All in all, a very multifunctional product.

These bottles arrived quickly well packaged and in perfect condition. The glass is thin. The caps are really nice and leak proof. I use these bottles to store my distilled water.

I ordered this to mix fuel for my RC engines which is a fuel and oil mix. I like the components to be as precise as possible and can see the oil and fuel in this gallon bottle as I mix and know (marked bottle with Dremel Tool) exactly when I have 1 gallon including the oil mix.

Love the peach!! Could be my favorite flavor I even drink it room temp. Loving HOP WTR in general I’ve had about 4 12 packs so far and have to tell myself not to drink more than one per night. Feel like the help greatly to keep me moving after work and get things done!!.

Definitely peach-forward— actually get the least “hop” flavor of all varieties. My teenage son, who typically doesn’t enjoy hop water, *does* enjoy this flavor— perhaps a good intro to this sort of beverage to those who are not typically hop flavor folks.

I really enjoy the hop and the ashwaganda & L-Theanine make me feel so calm and take the edge off stressful moments, without any negative side affects. Such a great combination! I’m thankful for a beverage that makes me feel so good!.

Both the Blood Orange and the Mango hopped seltzers are refreshing, but also interesting to drink. Plain seltzer and club soda are boring and less refreshing than ice water. at least for me. Flavored seltzer with about 1/4 as much juice or lemonade is quite refreshing, but is still a flat experience compared to a beer, an NA beer or even a wine spritzer.

What I appreciate in the hopped seltzers is that they are a satisfying and adult drink on their own.

I guess it was going to happen eventually, but Blood Orange is the lowest ranking ABC offers on my personal list. Blood Orange has a a nice flavor. Blood orange bitters is one of my go tos for a lot of drinks.

This brew taste a bit more like a flavored spritzer water. Lacking a hops punch. Would never turn on down but still lower on my personal list.

I love sparkling water, but overall, the flavor is just a bit underwhelming. The hops are extremely subtle. I prefer the bolder hop teas or waters from Hoplark. Was excited to try these, but for the price, I’ll stick to normal sparkling water and buy the ABC NA Beers.

A perfect balance with a bit of a bite to reflect a hard seltzer. Refreshing and able to leave its drinker relaxed and focused. Truly an elixir, leaving one to wonder has Bravus found a cure all for the modern man.

Hope this one appears regularly.

Since I don’t drink I am always looking for a summer go to drink on the boat. I’ve gotten a little sick of LaCroix and other sparkling waters. This is my new favorite. Looking to see what costs are to ship a pallet for the summer =).

Really enjoy the ginger-hop flavor of this water. It’s become my favorite mid-afternoon treat, being totally devoid of sugar.

Tranquility is one of my favorites. It contains Ashwagandha, which is a root that is used in male infertility and it also contains tangerine extract. But don’t let the Tangerine scare you into thinking this is a “fruity” or sweet water and the Ashwagandha definitely doesn’t make it taste like a root or anything like that.

It most definitely was crisp and refreshing. The minerals and electrolytes give this water a very pleasing taste. Besides male infertility, it has many great benefits for women and men. I relaxed in a bubble bath, lights dimmed and candles lit all around and I played light music/sounds of a natural creek running as I sipped on this water.

I don’t usually like flavored water and I’m not a fan of flat water so I didn’t think I was going to like this. I received it free from FabFitFun for purchasing lots of products. I loved this so much! It was so refreshing.

It tasted like real tangerine so it was not too sweet and not too sour. It also didn’t taste watered down like most flavored waters. There was no fake taste or fake sugar or aftertaste. It usually takes me all day to drink anything and I drank this within an hour.

I will be purchasing this and trying their other flavors.

I used to love IPAs, but I am getting burned out so I was looking for something a bit less Hoppy. It totally hit the spot. I first tried this beer in Georgia and really wanted to get more. I was really happy to find that Total Wine had it.

Used to be my favorite beer in Atlanta and even toured their brewery 8 years ago. So happy its finally out on the west coast! Can’t wait for more variety to come this way!

I prefer bottles over cans but love this beer. Not a traditional IPA but called Extra Pale Ale but has some of the citrus found in IPAs, just not as hoppy

I really expected to tastes those notes of sweet graham cracker that the description suggests but I did not taste that at all. Just tasted like a plain stout to me. I mean it’s good but I was disappointed in flavor not matching description.

My wife loved Shiner’s S’mores beer; however, we can’t get it anymore, so we took a chance on this and she absolutely loved it! I just placed an order for more.

A little “thin” for my tastes, at 6.5 ABV expected a bit more “body”. Not Too Sweet, good graham cracker flavor, not sure about the marshmallow. Overall 3.5 easy drinking, balanced flavored stout.

I’ve ordered these twice now. It’s my wife’s new favorite. Smells like ice cream. You can taste all the elements but it’s somehow not sweet or syrupy. Well done beer all around.

I spent many years in Germany at different times between 1978-1996 and tried every German beer available. I quickly decided that I preferred pilsners better than the multitude of varieties available and eventually settled on Jever Pils as my favorite.

It has a distinct taste and I have never found anything comparable. Unfortunately I am not able to find it in Michigan.

I found this to be a hoppy German pilsner. Crisp, bitter and dry finish. Likely high IBU compared to others of the style. It goes down easy and quick. Worth a try.

I was introduced to Jever in the beginning of 90’s when I was living in Europe, and has been my favorite since. I was so happy when I found Jever at Total Wine. It’s the absolute best pilsner I have tasted and I love it.

It’s crisp and fresh and have the perfect bitterness.

I didn’t have high expectations for this ale when I bought it, but I was curious. When I opened the can and poured it into a class, I was impressed with the color and the aroma of the beer. So rich in color and flavorful! Definitely worth a repeat purchase!.

This beer was one we recently sampled. English Ales aren’t typically one of my favorite flavors, but this was an exception. We enjoyed that it was a craft beer english ale. The other two family members that sampled it agreed.

True to style Great Divide has been consistent with this product for past 25 years. They never try to change it like many other breweries, excellent malt back bone with hint of peated malt flavor

I have partaked in quite a lot of beer in my day. If you are tired of Coors Light, and other light beers looking for more taste but aren’t looking to spend tons of money. Narragansett Lager is superb.

An amazing taste and at a reasonable price. I tried it and can’t imagine paying for those expensive 4 pk beers. Great taste, smooth and doesn’t seem to fill you up with a real taste. Not like a cheap light beer.

It is worth a try.

Narragansett is a Beer that I had no idea existed. The Price for a 30-pack Seemed too Good to believe, but I was Pleasantly surprised! It beat all my expectations! Don’t tell them as I wouldn’t want them to raise their prices! I can’t wait to try their other offering – So if you are looking for Something New – Something Different – Look No further!.

The title says it all, BABY! This is just a fantastic tasting beer from toe to tip. She has a great LLOCALL flavor, gave me low-level wizard powers, and brings me back to my New England roots. They still rock that old school logo, while also rocking those ancient mystical texts unearthed in Belize in 1890, which are still infused into the beer even now, 125+ years later.

That dedication and consistency is exactly what I look for in a beer brand. Now it’s no overpriced craft beer, and the powers it gave me don’t allow me to raise the dead or anything crazy like that, just a solid choice for a basic beer that will please the whole gang and give you the ability to lift small objects with your mind or communicate with animals telepathically.

All in all, I give this beer 5 stars for its bold taste, magic endowment, and warm nostalgia factor.

This water test kit covers the six major factors in brewing, including the pH factors (alkalinity, calcium and magnesium) and flavor factors (sulfate, chloride and sodium). Using your test results with one of the online water spreadsheets allows you to target your water to the beer you are brewing.

The tests are accurate to 10ppm precision, unless you have very high concentrations, in which case you can either dilute with distilled water or perform the test at 25ppm precision. There are five actual tests, but other factors can be reliably calculated directly from those results.

Doing all five tests takes about twenty five minutes. Four tests involve dissolving a reagent in a graduated test tube (provided in the kit) which changes it to some bright color and then adding a different reagent, one drop at a time, and counting the drops to determine the ppm of the factor you’re testing.

Three of these tests are very easy to read; one (sodium) is pretty easy but not great. One test, sulfate, is different from the other tests in that you measure it by the opacity of the sample once the test reagent is added.

I can’t report on its ease of use because my local water has nearly zero ppm sulfate, which is totally clear. (I did try adding an unmeasured pinch of gypsum to that test and it went milky immediately, so it works, but I can’t say how easy it is to read for practical purposes.

) There is enough in the kit to perform at least 50 tests for each factor, so it should last me two to three years, and adds up to a $2 per batch cost. This kit is great for me. My municipal water variably draws from no fewer than seven sources, including mineral heavy wells and soft reservoirs.

It changes throughout the year, sometimes suddenly: since June, when I made my first batch until now (two month later), I have seen an increase in 40ppm alkalinity and 30ppm in total hardness. This a pretty major difference in minerals and it makes mail in tests basically worthless.

I’m greatful to have a better analysis available to me.

I’ve been sending water samples out for testing for the past few years, but figured I’d try to dial in my water more accurately by testing it before each brew. Got the kit, did all the tests in under half an hour (and I expect that to be much faster next time now that I know what I’m doing), and the results were pretty close to the Ward Lab test I’d got a few months ago.

While it doesn’t have the same level of accuracy as say a Ward Lab report (10ppm steps are the smallest in some cases, where Ward Lab will get to 1ppm), this is easily ‘good enough’ for making homebrew.

And considering how many tests I can get out of: Easily worth the money.

Winter Warmer is pretty much hit or miss. It’s a different recipe every year, each flavored differently. Since I moved away from the East Coast, I haven’t had it in awhile, but the last I did have was a nasty peppermint that was also flavored with pine trees.

It was so terrible that year. Other years have had wonderful tastes like gingerbread, cinnamon and nutmeg, etc.

Yes. Yes. Yes. And more yes. If you like seasonal beers and something with a little cinnamon is up your alley than this is a beer you have to try. Winter warmer is my absolute favorite seasonal beer.

I stumbled upon it and have loved it since. It’s light, warm, has cinnamon and reminds you of Christmas.
