20 Best Water Dispenser For Cats (2023 Updated)

I went fancy and tried to spoil my cat with an electric water fountain. It was just messy and too much maintenance. So I opted for this gravity fed water bowl and it’s a perfect. I can fill the bottle every couple of weeks.

I do pick up the bowl and clean it out occasionally. But only because if any water sits stagnant long enough it can become slimey. We leave our cat home alone for a couple days at a time and I have no doubt this bottle will keep her hydrated without a mess, or fear of electricity interrupting its service.

Don’t spend on trendy e-devices. Just let physics do the work for you.

Ive tried a lot of different brands of auto-waterers, but this one is over-the-top superior. The other ones ive purchased have made a water mess at the point of replacing the bottle to the base. Not this one.

The screw-on top prevents any escape of water as you tilt it upside down. Genius and such a relief when you have a gallon of water to load. Plus, they included an extra head in case the original ever loses its ability to do its job.

I had originally purchased water dispensers for our two outside dogs at our local pet supply store but because of the design, frogs would climb inside the bowl and then crawl further inside and hide underneath the area where the bowl attached to the water canister.

When I saw the design of this water dispenser, with the small opening for the water to come from the canister through to the bowl, I knew there would be no place for a frog to hide inside and that they wouldn’t even try since there is no place for them to go.

So I ordered two of these to replace the larger ones that we had, and thank goodness the crazy frog problem is gone. These water dispensers are not very large, but for my two small outside dogs, they are large enough.

They hold a gallon of water (picture a gallon jug of milk), and here in Texas where the dogs’ water can start to get that green appearance after just three or four days during the hot summer months, we have to clean and refill the water dispensers frequently, and these water dispensers are so much easier to clean than the large cumbersome ones that we had.

I expect that during the cooler winter months, they will hold enough water for our two dogs to last at least a week or slightly longer. I am very happy with the quality of these and am glad that I purchased them.

We purchased this fountain because it was affordable and we wanted to see how our pets would take to it. They loved it. It’s been about 10 months and we are beyond ready to replace it. It requires two types of filters.

Even with regular replacements the foundation does not stream water consistently or as strong as it previously did. After cleaning it and setting it back up, the water does not stream for about 24 hours.

The main filter leaves behind a black film that is hard to tell apart from mold. Lots of little crevices to clean that easily fill with the film or mold. This device might be better for a house with a single pet.

We have 3 cats. I had to reach out to the companies support team at one point for help with the device. They were great. Friendly and helpful support.

This fountain is great. I like the way I can control the volume of the water flow. I like the fact that the cat has constant access to clean, filtered water. There are NO problems with the fountain. That said, Cookie Puss has made this fountain her own personal foot bath/water park.

Between washing her paws in the bowl and swatting the fountain stream, I spend a great deal of time mopping up little puddles, wet footprints, and all manner of drips and drops. If your cat wakes up and chooses chaos every day, you may want to think twice about giving the cat something else to play with.

Otherwise, I do like this fountain very much.

Nice small footprint in room. Doesn’t take up a lot of space. Quite, on wood floor I put a piece of styrofoam under to reduce sound travel. Cats are using it. Would prefer it was not plastic. One threw up in it and it was easy to clean.

Put new filter in after cleaning and pump works well. Luckily I had the pump unplugged when the incident occurred. Not sure how it would have affected the pump if it had been running. The adjustable water flow is a nice feature.

I have 2 larger ceramic fountains also, they have different water flow (not adjustable), so the cats can use the waterer that suits them. They might be a bit spoiled.

2. 5 gal reservoir is heavy when filled, locking lid is difficult to engage. we have 3 small dogs and 4 cats that use this. It does not have to be filled as often as our old 1. 5 gal bottle, but it has a tendency to accumulate debris in the bottom of the bowl, so to keep it clean you would have to remove the tank and clean the bowl more often than on the previous model.

The open neck makes it easier to fill, but the placing the tank usually involves spilling water on the floor before getting it in place. I like the fact the bowl is easier to clean due to the more open design and it is sturdy as the old model was.

the old model lasted forever, until the tank finally got brittle and split open. I thought the 2. 5 gal tank would be helpful, but it’s actually much more difficult to handle than the smaller one. Not sure I could recommend it this fully or not based on experience to date, but it does hold more water and doesn’t require filling as oftem.

its a fantastic water container. i have had it about 3 months. i find its important to clean it at least once a month. i do so very carefully. It worked great at first for both cats and dogs. I noted after about 3 months of use it started to leak.

i can figure out where the leak is coming from. i have no other issues with this dispenser. but i believe its too late to get it replaced. disappointing. i am now purchasing pads to put under it to asorbe the leaking water and also please understand its not from the animals.

this did not start until 3 months after purchase. i am well aware that dogs can be sloppy and i was completely prepared for that. but this si a slow leak that trails across the kitchen when everyone is asleep.

We have 4 of the Large Le Bistro Waterer Systems and we love it! It is easy to clean, easy to fill and lasts several days. Yes the jug is heavy, I carry it with one finger in the hole and one hand underneath.

When loading the jug into the bowl, I plug the hole with my finger until I’m ready to drop it in place. No mess ever! I’ve tried 3 or 4 different brands through out my career and this one is by far the best.

The other brands would slosh over the sides when the dogs lap their tongues. The lip around the bowl prevents the water from sloshing over the edge. My model doesn’t have a charcoal filter, when I clean it I just use white vinegar to get rid of any algae that may have occured in the summer sun.

I have learned the hard way not to let them run dry. they aren’t chew proof! LOL. I love this brand so much I have 5 in reserves in my storage room, just in case it becomes discontinued. (Please don’t!!) I recommend it to all my puppy buyers.

My only complaint is the little corners where the water bowl connects to the feeder, I can’t get in to the sharp angle with my brush. (Perhaps I just need to go get a different brush. ) I wouldn’t recommend getting the large if you only have one dog or small dogs, as water that sits more than 5 days will grow algae and mosquitos.

My kitty is quite spoiled and we always give him filtered water with a fountain. The water here is quite nasty from the well and the flowing water encourages lots of drinking. I was honestly surprise it holds 100 ounces of water.

He typically drinks 18 ounces a day. I know because of how often i had to refill my old one. This does not need refilled as often. I love how it has 1 giant filter so his hair does not circulate and get caught too close to the motor, making his water always fresh.

I like the see through corner so I can always make sure it is not too empty without having to dissamble. For the price point, it is super affordable and does everything it needs to. I would highly recommend this one.

It is a basic and decent water fountain. This is my second water fountain, so I am not really much exited about it, instead everything is working as expected. DON’T get me wrong, but this type of consistency is GOLD.

There is no gimmick or funny business when it comes to this water fountain. Water flows smoothly, water level indicator is clear, and water got filter nice and crisp so my cats like it so much. Highly recommend!.

The quality, price, and ease of use on this product are all great. I’m writing this review specifically for others whose dogs are super sensitive/ afraid of everything. My Border Collie is very noise sensitive and this dispenser lets out a little “glug glug” sound when the water comes out from the container.

It’s not super noticeable or particularly loud to me, and wouldn’t annoy me personally, but my dog is totally terrified of this product because of the sound. Not the manufacturer’s fault – but if your dog is kind of a coward too, may not be the right product for you.

I got this water bowl for my incredibly thirsty chihuahua. I was refilling his old bowl often. Now it’s been about a week and he’s just about to empty the water tank! I didn’t even fill it up all the way at first, because I was scared of not being able to lift it or spilling water everywhere, but it was actually very easy to fill.

Also, I’m very clumsy and was always stepping into his old bowl and flinging the water everywhere lol. I don’t know the physics of it, but I don’t ever run into this one! So far no leaks and the gurgle sound of the bowl being refilled doesn’t scare my dog!.

I think this would be better if we got the smaller size but I also think the weight of the water in it keeps it in place. We fill it up half way only or about 1 gallon of bottled water if we decide to use it.

It isn’t possible to really deep clean the inside of the bottle but it also shouldn’t get super dirty. I do wash the lid/water spout and the water dish once a week or so (because I’m lazy, honestly if you are a better pet owner do it 3-4 times a week lol).

My cat really likes it and often sits by it. I do notice that she uses the sides of the dish to stand on and dip her head in to drink since it’s a bit tall for her. I recommend washing all parts with warm to warm hot water (not super hot as hot can sometimes active bad chemicals in plastic, since this plastic is meant to be used for cold water it might not be made to be safe if you get it hot so it could leech out toxins) and a good dish soap like Dawn.

I try to use the soft side of the sponge as you don’t want to nick or rough up the plastic as that could damage it and create holes and crevices for bacteria to live in. I wouldn’t recommend this for a dishwasher (not sure if it says it’s safe for it or not but it will 100% warp it imo).

I recommend putting a few drops of dawn in the water tank and filling it up like 1/4 full and swishing the water around and keep doing that with water until there’s no bubbles. Make sure everything is free of soap and that nothing smells too much like soap (cats are very picky about water and soap can give them diarrhea).

I also don’t recommend filling it up all the way unless your animals drink a lot of water quickly as it’s heavy to remove since you have to flip the water tank upward to remove it off the stand to clean.

Be really careful when you do this and try to flip it forward towards the bowl because you can make a mess. Also don’t pull too hard or you will knock the bowl over. You basically do the reverse to put the water back on, flip the tank so the spout part is aimed at the bowl then adjust it into the stand.

I hope this helps someone as I was really anxious about how to clean this water dish set up and was nervous how to put on and remove the water tank without making a big mess.

I bought this and loved it for about 6 months and then go into my kitchen to see water all over the floor. I called and Primo sent me another one free of charge. After about 6-7 months, it happens with the new replacement! I think there is something defective about these with the pet station.

Never had a problem with the one I purchased without the pet station. They gave me my money back because I did not want to risk another disaster! The person that I spoke with said they quit selling them when there’s an issue like this until they solve the problem.

I just got my money back in November 2021 and then I see they’re still selling it December! Don’t buy this until you know they have resolved the issue. They could not have resolved it this soon and I’m really upset that they are selling a product that they know is defective!!!.

I am very satisfied with the Primo hot and cold dispenser with pet station. Prior to this, I was re-filling dog water bowls frequently and now, I walk by and push the button when the water is low. The water is cool which the dogs seem to like! I noticed that I am also drinking more water because now instead of opening a full water bottle, I can have a nice glass of cold water with the push of a button and I’m enjoying the hot water too for tea, coffee and oatmeal.

For me, the water is plenty cold and plenty hot, I was surprised how hot the water is. All praise from me for this dispenser. no complaints. Very satisfied with this purchase!!.

I haven’t used one of these dispensers in a long time. I thought I wouldn’t like the top loading because of the weight of a 5 gal jug and the possibility of spilling everywhere. With the no spill loading, this was not a problem.

Hot water is hot but has the safety mechanism. Kids can make their own instant oatmeal and hot cocoa. Cold water is perfect temperature. I LOVE the pet station addition. This is perfect for our household of four humans, a dog, and a cat.

** Pro tip ** put the bowl on the bottle like a lid, then flip it sideway to place on the floor! Be extra careful that you don’t twist the two, because only a 1/4 turn can pop the bottle off the bowl during this process.

We have 3 dogs and this is a godsend. I used to be constantly refilling multiple bowls in the house. With this, I can fill it and it lasts more than a couple days! Truly terrific!.

This is good for daily water system, but not good if pet owners are looking for a water system for a 2-3 day aways from home. The water is stagnant, it isn’t circulating. It’s like filling up a large bowl of water and letting it sit all day and night.

Besides water stagnitation, the water gets warm and multi-pet slobbers get inside the water. My opinion, grab a large bowl and fill with water, which is what this product is.

Just what we needed for our two big dogs for the patio. 3 gallons is convenient, and this is so much better than having to constantly wash and refill bowls. A good purchase.

I love this it holds more then enough water for my cat it despence enough water and I dont have to worry if my cat is getting enough water and I am glad I ordered this. Walmart had this for over 30. 00 but I got this for 20.

Does what it says in advert, good value for money keeps water clean and free from pet hair, pets soon became used to it. On the minus side you need to keep your eye on the level of the water as there is no indicator to show you when the water is running low.

What a device this fountain hydrates 7 cats it was recommended by my daughters vet it is truly amazing, I watch 7 cats daily constantly waiting for a turn to drink a shared device no squabbling its delightful to watch.

The cat has been working out why the hell would you need a water fountain ? But she’s drinking more than before and I’m waiting to see how long this machine lasts for, until it dies out. Therefore, I have to unplug it at night, so the motor doesn’t get overrun.
