20 Best Water Bottles For Camping (2023 Updated)

I LOVE my simple modern water bottles, so I wanted to love these kids bottles. They’re terrible. They leak everywhere. We’ve lightly used them for maybe a month now, and the designs on the bottles are all disappearing.

So I will continue on my search for great kids bottles, but these are not it! Update: Simple Modern reached out to me regarding the above review. They seemed concerned, were quick to address my issues and immediately sent me four new bottles.

So I’m changing my review from one star to three, simply because of their responsive customer service. However I still really dislike the design of these bottles for smaller children, they leak until the bottle is empty.

It would probably be fine for older children who are good about closing the spout and keeping it upright.

I took 2 of these new bottles on a hike today after filling them with municipal water filtered through a Zero water filter. I’ve been drinking water filtered through this Zero filter for months and the water definitely tastes like water.

I was surprised to discover an overwhelming chemical taste when I drank from these bottles. The chemical taste was present to both bottles and was so strong it made the water virtually undrinkable.

Not only have I had the same nalgene bottle at my office job for the last 6 years, I have one for the gym and one for outdoor activities. We were frisbee golfing the other weekend and my brother in law got his frisbee stuck in a tree.

After some attempts at shaking the tree and throwing some rocks, the thing wouldn’t budge. Without hesitation I handed him my 32oz full nalgene bottle and told him to chuck it at the frisbee. Initially he told me no way, this frisbee was about 20 feet up in this tree, he thought for sure my bottle would meet its demise on the way down and crash upon impact.

I had absolutely all the faith in the world that my bottle would survive and encouraged him to get his $14 frisbee back using my trusty bottle. Anyway, he flung my bottle with all his might, multiple times, about 20-25 feet in the air, and the bottle had relatively decent aerodynamics to help propell it to space.

I stood there with absolute confidence in my bottle and never broke a sweat. Even with every crash back on the ground as my brother in law cringed, I stood there calmly and told him to keep going until after about 8 or 9 throws, we finally got the frisbee down.

Nalgene is the bomb and will be the only bottles I buy, because chances are I’ll only need to buy half a dozen over the course of my lifetime.

Very lightweight water bottle. If you are having a tough time deciding between the 16 and 32 oz I would suggest going for the 32 oz. I don’t think you’ll regret it if your doing hiking, camping and travelling.

My only frustration was in all the plastic wrapping around the bottle. For a more sustainable bottle they could have done a more eco sleeve to protect it.

These water bottles from camelbak I personally never get for myself; however I do grab them occasionally through the holidays and birthdays for my younger nieces and nephews who are always losing their water bottles or littering my sisters house with plastic water bottles from the stores! So to save them the hassle of losing their bottles and my sister the hassle of being on recycling duty, I bought each of the kids two of these! And they loved them! I let them pick out their favorite designs and then they were excited once they were being shipped to their house.

The kids tore up the boxes that they came in and displayed them proudly in photos they’d have my sister send me after they’d used them. Every kid enjoyed their bottles and they almost never left the house without it on their hip.

My niece commented saying how it was a good way to carry chocolate milk to her friends; laughing I agreed it’d be a pretty awesome way to take her drink to her friends. My nephew had said that it was very good that no matter how hard he dropped his bottle on the ground or floor, barely any water could be seen at the site! He said it kept the water nice and cold for him when he played and he was happy to have 2 of his very own.

My sister said they were so easy to clean and mentioned they were dishwasher safe as well; and she could trust her kids to keel safe for how much she knew they liked them. I highly recommend this to any mother/father or auntie/uncle, doesn’t matter, you know a child in need of a water bottle they’ll love? Grab a camelbak eddy! Made for kids, loved by all.

Bought one about two years ago. I’ve used two other leading brands as well ( for many years). I use a stainless bottle exclusively in the house all year. In terms of heat or cold retention, this bottle is the best.

This one I use primarily, for cold water with a bit of fruit juice added. If It’s to drink right away, I don’t prime it. If it’s for later in the day, I do. I have on occasion left it from one morning to the next and it is still refreshingly cold.

I always unlock and lock the lid. For outdoor use, being slender in shape, it slides perfectly into a shoulder bag and fits into all cup holders in cars. Not all bottles can do that. For hot coffee, it’s great if you’re going on a long drive.

It’s the one you can open 3-4 hours down the road. I don’t use it right after I fill it with a hot drink as I’ve found it retains heat like nothing else I’ve tried, so it’s too hot to drink right away.

hot and cold retention is excellent. The flip top lid is extremely good. You can tip it up and still see past the lid. The mouthpiece is very well designed and narrows the flow to avoid spillage and creates a swirling sensation that almost feels like the drink is carbonated (it isn’t).

For cold drinks, I find that ideal. Being slender, having an easily unlocked lid, that flips up out of the way all with one hand, makes it the only bottle I’ve ever had that allows one hand access and control while not interfering with sight lines.

I’ve recommended this bottle specifically, to many friends. I’ve never recommended any of the other brands I’ve tried. No leak (I had three bottles of another leading maker and all leaked any time they were anything but perfectly upright).

In the house it’s treated like a coffee cup or glass and handled accortdingly. It’s my workout bottle too. This one is my travel bottle so in a shoulder bag or cup holder. It’s light, slender and I understand has less distance between the inner and outer steel sides, but somehow it’s hotter and colder than the competition – provided you prime it as the instructions say.

Read previous contents and don’t know what they are talking about. Must throw them on ground to break like that. Lid only opens if you don’t lock and just randomly throw into a bag. I am a forestry worker and drop my bag all the time with minor issues.

Dented one but that was throwing my bag down 20 feet onto rocks. Bottle still works, but dented. And they keep things super hot. If you out in look warm coffee its not gonna hold its heat. But i use for tea all the time and if unopened will be piping hot if started with boiling water.

I usually have to add cold water so i can drink it within first 4 hours. I also work outside in winter in up to -30 and this thing is still great. Could they be a tiny more durable, yes, but then they wouldbn’t be this light; trade offs.

Anyways, i have multiples i use every day and love as do various members from my family.

Best water bottle I’ve ever had. I have it in the 500ml and the 1000. Super durable, super light, and despite what it says in the description, the 1000 is water filter compatible. There is simply no better water bottle on the market, and the 1000 can work as a personal thermos for one, or be shared for a day out with a friend.

The 500 fits in the side pockets of a fjallraven kanken. You just can’t do better than this bottle for hiking or everyday use. It combines all the best features of a Nalgene with all the best features of a Hydroflask but insulates so much better, and no matter how many times I drop it, it just keeps on going.

Can’t recommend it highly enough. Had mine for nearly five years now.

Got a 22 oz. bottle at Marshall’s for $12 a couple of years ago. Ever since, it has become my constant companion. I am super picky about water bottles — it has to to be able to keep my water COLD for a long time.

I have put ice in this bottle, left it for 24 hours!, and then came back to find the ice still there. Even if you leave it in sunlight in the car, it keeps things cold. I have used it pretty much every single day since I bought it about two years ago.

It has a small dent or two from being dropped on concrete but otherwise it has held up great.

amazing water bottle. WAY better than the generic plastic water bottles that make the water have an off taste and gets warm in 10 minutes. I left this bottle in the sun for about an hour and the water inside was still cold.

definitely keeps you hydrated in camps, hiking, and trips. great cheap alternative to expensive water bottles that do the same thing. would recommend.

This bottle was a sizing up for our boys who play a lot of sports and needed something easy, efficient, and large for water. The 20oz bottles weren’t cutting it anymore. The incredible thing is the spout doesn’t come undone once they close it after having taken a drink- I still don’t know how! Our boys are 8 and 9, and will go through all 32oz of water before a baseball game ends.

They loved it so much, they’ve started taking them to school. And there’s nothing more I love than seeing those bottles being emptied before my very eyes simply because of the convenience of holding so much water, and drinking from it! Also- the paint hasn’t even begun to peel, and we’ve had them for a month now.

Bonus- it sits perfectly in our refrigerator water filter space so they don’t have to hold the thing as it fills slowly- A BIG DEAL!! Bigger bonus- my husband loves it. :D.

They are made of heavy metal. They will last a long time.

I love my water bottle! I’d been looking for a knock off Nalgene 32 oz bottle for quite some time, but some of them were just as expensive! The things I like about the Outdoor Products bottle: it has a screw on top, which makes it very hard to leek.

The outside is frosted, which makes it a lot more grippy. The shape is contoured in the middle so it makes it so you can hold it (unlike a lot of other 32 oz bottles). Also, the fact that it is 32 oz for less than $10 is amazing! The only thing that is sort of annoying is it is not dishwasher safe.

However, the product does not contain BPA, and I feel better knowing that no chemicals are leaching into my water!! I’ve used it every day since I got it last week, and I love it. Great way to stay hydrated without blowing your whole paycheck on an expensive water bottle.

We loved these water bottles. I have a two year old and a 4 year old and both have two each. We are buying two more because the kids love them so much. I love all the designs the kids choose. Easy to clean and durable.

The kids drop them all the time and they always survived. Not sure what other people are complaining about. The straws leak a little bit if you turn them upside down and shake pretty hard. I have thrown out all the other bottles and only use these.

I thought these bottles were silly, but then I realized how infrequently I was taking a break during work to drink water. I was probably only getting 24 oz in a very busy and sweaty workday, so of course, I was always dehydrated.

Finally, I decided to buy a silly large bottle, opting for the 64 oz because it is relatively close to the amount of water I should consume per day, and I didnt want to lug around an entire gallon. What I like is how large the opening is making it easy to clean.

The straw comes in three parts: the mouthpiece, the straw stalk, and the rubber nib at the bottom which allows the straw to retract when you close the lid. As long as none of these parts are damaged, I imagine it will keep working efficiently.

The handle at the top is very sturdy and Im not concerned about its longevity. The bottle is sufficiently translucent making it easy to check my progress, and while I could take or leave the inspirational messages, I do use the hours as a reference.

The only thing I struggle with is holding the bottle while filling it — it does get heavy, and my hands are small. Mainly I have to cradle the bottle while filling it, but its a once per day type of thing, so I will deal.

I would recommend this product to anyone in the market for a giant water bottle.

I love this thing!!It’s quite easy to carry around, despite it’s size and holds nearly all the water I need to drink in a day. I was HORRIBLE about getting enough water and didn’t hardly drink any, unless you count coffee as water, because that’s nearly all I drank.

THIS water bottle is actually fun to drink out of and has easily gotten my water consumption up to a nearly half gallon of water a day! I’ve only had it a few days so I’m working my way up to the 64oz but I’m VERY CLOSE.

After restarting keto for millionth time I knew water is a MUST. It’s a must anyhow but especially when doing keto, so I bought this water bottle. It’s fun, It’s pretty, its easy to hold and oddly enough isn’t visually overwhelming when seeing how much water you have to drink today.

The measurements are cool to have and the motivational milestones are a nice touch -that’s part of why I bought it, personally. I do wish that the blue vinyl lettering on some of the milestones, were white too, since they’re harder to see in the colored bottle.

Other than that I have literally NO complaints!.

Ive had my bottle for almost a week now,and I already love it! First impression is that its HUGE! I knew it had to be big to hold all of that water, but in my mind I didnt quite grasp how big it really was.

The size does not make itdifficult to hold when drinking. the handle makes it easy. The product is so easy to clean, and the handle makes it easy to carry around when the bottle is full,and it does have slots on the sides of the lid for straps, but doesnt have any.

no biggie. The color is even better in person! The bottle has proven to be leak-proof so far. It did come with a long straw which is perfect,and makes it more anticing to drink water youll see what I mean when you get your bottle.

The straw is removable and easy to clean. When I first opened the lid to drink the cap did not open all the way. so the lid was in the way of drinking comfortably. Later in the day I realized that you push the lid farther back.

it wont break. The lid is designed to keep the cap that covers the straw from being loose. I drink my water room temp so it does not sweat, but if you use ice in it. I think it will sweat. no biggie for me.

I am so happy that I purchased this bottle because it is definitely much easier to get all my water in. I almost forgot. the bottle has indentions on one side to make easier to hold, and has measurements on one size to see how much youve drank.

also has motivational words on the other side to keep you drinking. Just buy the bottle already!!.

I purchased this to replace my water that I had for over 10 years and use to put in the freezer. While no company will ever make a bottle better then the one I had, this one does stack up to it. Although, if you do not put a full tray of ice in the container, the ice will melt within two hours! By the way, you cannot over fill your ice tray or else the ice will not fit.

Keep in mind the bottle is in a cold bag inside a store with the tempature set at 75 degree, and no sun light, and the ice still melted! Also, if you do purchase this bottle, be sure to pick up a scrub brush as this will be the only way to clean it because the opening is too small, even for some of the ice cubes! In the end, even though the ice does melt and does not always fit, the internal temperature of the water does stay cold.

Please note, I only use this bottle for water at work in a retail store.

Just received my 1/2 gallon jug and used it for my shift at work and have nothing bad to say really. Read the reviews about it pouring slow and it does but if you suck on the spout like you do the sport Gatorade bottles you get alot more water.

Kept ice pretty good if filled at least half way up. I work in a factory so it keeping ice even in a hot environment is great. Handle feels sturdy no worry of the handle popping out of the top. Nice foam grip at the top of the handle so it’s comfortable to hold for extended periods of time.

So far it’s great and definitely worth the price and the shipping time was pretty fast for me. I received it within a few days of ordering.

I was quite excited to receive the 1/2 gallon jug, which I intended to use to store hot beverages while I’m skiing this winter. The jug is as aesthetically pleasing as a jug can be. The first thing I did when I took it out of the box was to test its insulating quality: 1) I filled the jug to 75% full with near-boiling water, waited a couple minutes for the water to heat the interior, then measured the temperature of the water: 179.

5F. 2) I screwed the lid on tightly, and then let the jug sit inside (at 68F ambient temperature) for 9. 5 hours. 3) I opened the jug and measured the water temperature: 107F. It’s pretty, and I’ll use it to store cool water.

But given its lackluster insulating ability, this jug just doesn’t compete with other thermoses I’ve used. For hot beverages, it doesn’t come close to the old-school Stanley vacuum thermos that many of us have owned at one point or another.

I wish it did.

Since the launch of this bottle was I wasn’t sure about buying this bottle especially with the $30 price point not including the price for the filters which added another cost which was too high for me when you can buy any other bottle for $10 or less.

My roommate had one and seemed to like the bottle. I’m in the process of moving and what sold me on finally getting this bottle was the amount of money I was spending on a 40 pack of single use waters from Walmart and having that as another thing to carry with me.

I read the reviews which were mixed to say the least but found it worth it when it was on sale. My main issue besides the cost is not knowing if the filter is working or when to change it. I think there should be some indication like with the pitchers for users to know when the change the filter in the bottle.

With everything going on in life it’s easy to forget to check the timer on the brita reminders to change it. There should be another way.

Good choice for lightweight backpacking bottles (not bladders, so I can see how much water I have left) that are harmful chemical-free (unlike single-use bottles like smartwater). I appreciate the carabiners to ensure they won’t slide out of the sides of my pack.

Fit easily to use Sawyer Squeeze and the backcountry bidet! Seem durable but have only used for one trip so far.

Great carrier. Easy to see how much water left. Also like the ring to hang it on my pack, or where ever. Looks like the ring holder may eventually break, but not yet.

For me they won’t work. Too big for dog to carry in her pack and that’s who I bought them for. Also takes forever to dry out the inside and I worry about things growing. Other than that they are just as described and I bought exactly what I intended to buy.

Will be good for a hiking/camping trip.

There is a serious design flaw in the cap of this bottle. The handle on top of the bottle cap is made if cheap plastic and hence it breaks apart. I have to exchange the bottle 2nd time because of the same issue.

I don’t even use this bottle regularly, still its the 2nd time that the handle has broken apart. 1st bottle i had same issue hence I exchanged it but the 2nd bottle also has the same issue again.

Just amazing!! Even though metallic it is quite lightweight. Had a very rough use. have made buttermilk to martinis in it and it survived really well. It has been thrown around and rolled over more than a rugby ball with only a minor dent Though just a few days back, as some of the reviews, my bottle fell on it s head and unluckily the red handle broke off – still the bottle is super useful.

The white coloured hinge for the red “loop/clip” on the cap breaks easily. The bottle is quite bulky to carry, so usually you’d hold by the red “loop/clip”. It’s will become a hindrance the moment the hinge breaks, especially when a full and heavy bottle swings around.

They need to sell the cap individually and redesign a better hinge for the cap. Please do, I’ve bought 2 bottles already, its the same issue for both.
