20 Best Water Based Face Moisturizer (2023 Updated)

So I’m in my 20’s and was introduced to this cream my first year of college in 2020 by a suitmate and I fell in love. This is my hands down favorite moisturizer!!! In fact I just bought another tub. I refuse to buy it anywhere else except Walmart as they sell it at the lowest price compared to any other site or store I’ve seen so far most importantly it’s authentic.

Yes It’s pricey as a student on a budget trust me I know; however, you get a nice size tube and a little goes along way!! The product feels like thick water, goes on smooth/soothing especially when chilled, absorb fast and deep into the skin, it’s also light as if nothing is on but your skin’s left feeling plump and pours doesn’t get clogged up; furthermore, the moisturizing length last for hours and this product has almost no fragrant.

I’ve never broken out or had a bad reaction to this cream as I tend to go towards products sensitive skin friendly. I think this moisturizer would be good for all ages starting at teens, male or female and for beginners/experienced lovers of skincare.

A staple in my skin care regime. It’s a very silky gel texture, and absorbs almost immediately, no residue or weirdness. I use it morning and night, and always follow it up with a hydrating spritz to allow the hyaluronic acid to absorb and lock in even more moisture.

I feel like my skin drinks it up every time, and I love it. Ever since I had my son, I went from a grubby oil slick, to extremely dry dry skin. This has been my holy grail since discovering it. That being said – it’s important to understand the job of this moisturizer…it’s to HYDRATE your skin.

By hydrating, it will help reduce to appearance of fine lines – but this is NOT a targeted treatment. Many people complained it doing to this or that – but that’s because it’s not designed to do anything but hydrate your skin – which is does FABULOUSLY.

I’ve reccomended this to quite a few people, and they’ve all thanked me over and over for discovering it. This is a super gentle formula, and would work wonders for literally any and all skin types. Fun fact: Hyaluronic acid has the ability to absorb 1000x it’s weight in water!!.

I just recently discovered this moisturizer and am so happy with it. I’m 56 years old and had perfect skin until the last 5 years because of menopause and a severe illness that aged my skin dramatically.

I have tried many different brands of moisturizers and serums, many of which did nothing and were a waste of time and money. I do have a good routine now that has helped my skin, but incorporating this water drench cream into it has made a huge difference for me.

My skin has never felt better. I wake up with it feeling soft as silk. It’s amazing how this cream is so light and how just a tiny bit smooths evenly all over my face and neck and melts into a thin water-like texture that is absorbed almost immediately.

One jar will last me a long time because I need such a small amount of product. I use it right after my serums and just before my main anti-aging cream. I’m so happy that I found this and am actually looking forward to how much it’s going to help my skin when winter arrives.

I won’t be changing from my holy grail magic cream and if I did I would go back to my beloved Clinique different gel moisturizer but this aqua bomb facial moisturizer isn’t bad! The one for the body I absolutely hate it left my skin feeling so nasty but this facial moisturizer is different.

I can see why so many people love it. The lightweight gel texture feels amazing. I was so upset about the sample size until I realized just how far this gel goes. You barely need to use any at all because the slip is fantastic.

It feels so good and refreshing. It’s probably a dream for people with oily skin and you’ll take forever before you make it through the jar. Because it’s so light I think I’ll just use it under my eyes and on my nose right before bed because my nose loves to be the driest part of my face and I’m not trying to use up all my amazing magic cream because that’s so expensive but so worth it.

If you like lightweight gel formulas then this one is great buuuuut I think the Clinique gel is hands down the best gel moisturizer on the market and nothing will change my mind. If you need something more nourishing then this is not it I would go for Charlotte tilbury magic cream which is literal creamy magic or any of the Olehenriksen moisturizers.

This will be a disclaimer in every review for this summer co-op voxbox. In all honesty I said no in my survey to half of these products and I also always always always say no to sample sizes. Now I’m not the type to need fancy but I do review honestly and I do not believe anyone can give their true opinion of a product especially of a skincare item when it’s sample size.

There simply is never enough product to use it multiple times to form an opinion so I don’t like to waste my time on something I can’t get a good feel for because then I don’t feel right saying if it’s good or bad.

So with that being said anything with this disclaimer is less of a review and more of a first impression that you have to take with a huge grain of salt.

Let’s start with the major fact and that is this is truly a moisture bomb. You can feel it the moment it touches your skin. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, then you’ll know I HATE skincare products that have a scent or a strong scent.

This one does, but it’s light, pleasant and fades pretty fast. The texture is creamy and luxurious feeling, feels hydrating also. You can feel the IMMEDIATE change in your skin upon application. Even your fingers and hands are moisturized from just pulling it out the jar.

But does it last? I applied this cream in the morning and by the afternoon I could tell that another application would be needed and by that evening the feeling was gone. This would require more than one application.

It’s literally like a bomb – it hits you with major moisture initially and then begins to fade throughout the day. Regardless though, I’ve enjoyed it with each application. It’s a gentle cream that gives your skin a burst of moisture, so I would recommend using it at night as part of a nighttime skin routine (it’s what I plan to do).

This is a bit pricey to me given the fact I know of similar moisturizers that give the same effect for a cheaper price. I’m not familiar with this brand, but $30+ seems like a lot for a moisturizer in general but especially one that doesn’t last all day.

If you get a lot in the jar for $30+, then this may be worth the price. Because of how it makes my skin feel upon application, I think I would still recommend this product because there’s clear visible evidence of the moisture on the skin due to a slight glow, but I’d do so as part of a nighttime routine if someone was considering higher end products to incorporate into their line up.

This was one of two products that I enjoyed in the winter voxbox out of the total items received and if it was a little less expensive, I would have given 5 stars.

So I started using belif The true cream- moisturizing bomb and I have to say I was completely surprised at how long it kept my face moisturized and feeling hydrated. I first applied it early in the morning like at 6:00 a.

m. I went to work and I didn’t wash my face until 8:30 p. m. and my face still felt really soft and hydrated. since using belif my skin definitely feels more nourished than before. the moisturizer that I was using before wouldn’t last me all day and using this moisturizer I don’t have to worry about my skin feeling dry or my makeup cracking because my skin is retaining its moisture.

I really love the texture of belif The true cream-moisturizing bomb it doesn’t feel very thick but it isn’t watered down it’s the perfect texture whether you’re wearing makeup or not this moisturizer doesn’t affect your makeup.

I dug up this picture from 2019 and found several more that I had taken during that time because I recommended this moisturizer to my friends so much. From 2017 to 2019 I only ever used this moisturizer in my skincare routine, and I never regretted it.

It was cooling, soothing, absorbed fabulously, and never felt heavy on my skin, which was congested and dehydrated at the time. Since then my skin’s needs have changed and this gel doesn’t aid me in the way it did.

My preferred delivery method for hyaluronic acid is now The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%. However, I still confidently recommend this gel to friends and family who could benefit from it, and most who’ve tried it have loved it so much that it is now part of their regular routine.

One extremely important thing to note is that any product with hyaluronic acid like this one needs to be applied while the skin is still wet, because the function of hyaluronic acid is to bind to existing water molecules and act as a humectant.

In general it’s better not to dry your skin before using any moisturizer in order to allow it to seal in the moisture. Those who dry their skin before moisturizing also tend to use a washcloth or towel to do so, and unless you literally deep clean these cloths right before each use, they will quickly and easily become breeding grounds for bacteria, and also collect dust and other particles that could irritate your skin or clog your pores.

It pays to understand product usage and your skin type. I have an over-all dryer complexion so I lotion my body daily and moisturize my face every 2-3 days. 1. The product tells the user to utilize AFTER HAVING CLEANSED YOUR FACE.

Not following these steps will result in clogged dirty pores and more acne. 2. You CAN use this product for targeted dry spots you just need to use less. This product, although appears to not contain a lot, goes a long way with just enough to cover your index finger.

You really don’t need a lot or else again, you’re caking your face and over-moisturizing it. This will also cause acne. Maybe if your skin is peeling on your face you may want to use a little extra but otherwise, very little is needed to cover your face.

3. You should not be exfoliating daily. Maybe once a week. If you exfoliate daily then use this product you will get acne. Plain and simple. You’re opening your pores, jamming moisture into them, and NOT expecting acne? Come on now.

Wash your face gently, exfoliate weekly. Moisturize every 2-3 days. Patience is key and you most likely won’t get immediate results from *any* product sold for $30. 4. Results. I could feel a difinitive difference almost immediately.

Product is in fact lightweight and I only needed a 1/4 of a dime size to cover my face. Again, a little goes a long way. Within a week and a half (because it’s not meant to be used daily unless you’ve got severe dryness), My face didn’t just FEEL healtheir it looked fuller, more hydrated and when I get my shark week is around the only time I’ll see a baby surprise zit on my face (this is normal, it’s called hormones silly).

I feel as though individual’s expectations are so high. I assure you that you’ll never find “the golden product” that works year-round. During the winter I won’t be using it because for whatever reason, my face is not nearly as dry.

If you’re looking for a fix-all raise your budget to $80-$150 and consult a dermatologist. Or get botox.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when receiving this product, as many claim to help rejuvenate your skins hydration, while leaving you underwhelmed. This however left both my skin and I jumping for hydration joy.

During the colder months especially, my hands get very dry and chapped and I am always looking for something to combat this and keep them supple and smooth. This gel delivers on both. Not only does it have a light texture that is easily absorbed, but it keeps my hands moisturised ALL day thanks in part to its Hyaluronic Gel Matrix; locking in that hydration while continually releasing it throughout the day when your skin needs it.

It also contains purified hyaluronic acid which aids this process. The overall blue appearance is quite eye catching too as it gives the indication that it’s going to help with moisturising and hydrating situations.

In short this is something I will be adding to my skincare routine to help my skin lock in that extra moisture especially during the colder winter months.

This product is great for dry skin. It really leaves skin feeling moisturized and reduces flakiness. Some people have complained that it is difficult to apply, but it is no different than applying a thick zinc sunscreen that takes some time to absorb (applying to a damp face really helps).

From my perspective, this product is a step up from Dermalogica’s Intensive Moisture Balance Moisturizer. That said, 50 ml of this product costs double ($124 +tax) the amount of Intensive Moisture Balance ($64 +tax), and I’m not sure that this product is worth the additional cost.

The product does not leave my skin significantly more moisturized than Intensive Moisture Balance. Additionally, I still wake up in the morning with dry patches and flaking skin around my mouth after applying it at night.

If you’re mindful about cost but worried about dryness, then use Intensive Moisture Balance and apply 100% pure jojoba oil on top. Jojoba is very similar to sebum (the oil your body naturally produces), so it is usually safe for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin (like myself).

I received this Super Rich Repair complimentary from Dermalogica in exchange for my review. Let me start by saying I absolutely love Dermalogica. I’ve tried several products in their line and they’ve all been fantastic, quality products.

This moisturizer was no different. The bottle is sleek and classic and feels good in my hand. The pump works great and I love that I don’t have to dip my fingers into a jar to get the product out. This definitely cuts down on the risk of bacteria being introduced into the product and I really appreciate this.

A little bit of the product goes a long way so one or two pumps suffices for me. I use this in the morning and at night but I have very dry skin. I would recommend someone with normal skin to just use this at night to avoid making your skin greasy or oily looking.

But for those with dry skin, twice a day is fine. I mix it with my foundation in the morning and that’s been working great. There hasn’t been any pilling at all. I love this product so much. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

This is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used!! I wish it wasn’t so expensive but I will be purchasing it as long as I can ! It makes your skin moistures without feeling heavy , thick or sticky. I definitely have soft glowy skin after using this that does not look greasy.

It wears so well under my foundation everyday and my skin looks better since using this and the vitamin c serum for the last few months. I don’t usually use a full pump during the day as I feel too much comes out so I use a little less (3 mini pumps).

FYI : I’m 38 but everyone thinks I’m in my early 20’s. That’s not due to this product but this product definitely helps as I’ve been getting carded more often since using it and it really does make your skin look more youthful while wearing it.

I’ve struggled with acne my entire life. I’ve always avoided moisturizers for fear of breakouts. But now as I’m getting older, I realize I need a moisturizer because its dry and looking very dull. This is THE ONLY moisturizer THAT WORKS!!! And I’ve tried so many specials, expensive brands out there.

I don’t breakout. It’s lightweight and feels amazing! There’s no scent and it’s not heavy or oily. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! Please don’t discontinue this product!!! I’ve had trouble finding it lately.

This is an amazing moisturizer for combination skin and acne-prone skin! The texture was really nice and felt great on the skin; it’s light but moisturizing and doesn’t weigh the skin down (you’ll forget you were wearing it!) My bottle has lasted quite a while which goes to say that a little goes a long way with this product! I will say because it doesn’t have the thickest coverage, I’m not sure how this would fare with people with drier skin types, so I only used this at night before bed during the winter.

Overall, it was a great purchase, and I’d buy it again.

I got a consultation from a Bobbi Brown and mentioned that I thought I had pretty dry skin. Tinted moisturizers would often look flat and dull and would eventually start to seemingly “separate”. She tried several of their standard moisturizing products which didn’t quite “wow” me.

The consultant told me it seemed like my skin was absorbing all the moisture in the products right away. So she brought this extra repair product out. Normally I would have thought she was just trying to sell me on the more expensive moisturizer but my skin (and make-up) NEVER looked as good as it did after she applied this stuff.

Highly recommend if you’ve been struggling with dry skin! Works well as a primer and moisturizer. Haven’t had any breakouts or issues yet in the 2 weeks I’ve been using it. The packaging is super high quality and definitely luxurious (as it should be for that price!).

Comes in a frosted glass jar. It’s refillable and refills come with a lower price tag than the original product which is definitely a plus especially considering the high price tag. This product has made me a life long user.

Having recently spent 3 months in a coma on life support in Intensive Care, , I woke up to find that my skin was extremely dry, flaky and sore. Unsurprising, I may add, after critical illness. Wasn’t really sure how to rectify the poor skin condition of my face.

Couldn’t use the heavier emollients I was using on my body. They were far too heavy and oily for facial use. Being very familiar with Bobbi Brown make up, and loving it, I decided to try this water based cream.

Marvellous. Within 2weeks of regular use my facial skin had returned to its lovely pre-illness condition. The cream was so very suitable for effectively moisturising my skin without the weight of heavy oils, whilst also providing a fab base for my foundation.

Shall continue using this cream, but I’ve one simple ask of Bobbi Brown. Please, please provide an option for those of us who find the current size of pot too small. A larger, more economical pot would be very much appreciated.

The question is would you recommend this product to a friend. Not only have I recommended it to them, I have purchased this for friends who, like me, have sensitive and dry skin. It has been the “gateway” to Bobbi Brown products when they’ve been unhappy with others they’ve tried and it, inevitably, makes them fans of not only this moisturizer but other items in the Bobbi Brown Extra line and then they move into make up too.

All because they have liked this moisture cream product so well So I’m surprised to see the overall rating average for this moisturizer at just shy of 4 stars. Since I have been using BB Extra skin care for a long time now, since it was introduced, and I too remember the SPF free Extra Moisture Balm that is no longer made, I recognize some of the less than stellar reviews for this Extra Repair Moisture Cream are comments of disappointment that the Balm is gone.

I felt that same way at the time. But this moisture cream really does an excellent job for my extra dry, fragile and super sensitive skin, which is also SPF sensitive, and keeps it in great shape even at my.

It absorbs nicely into skin and doenst leave being a greasy feeling or stickiness behind. It gives you a dewy glow and makes your skin appear more plump. While this would be a great day cream, especially in the summer months, it’s just not moisturizing enough for me at night or the colder months.

As for cons, while low on the ingredient list, it does contain fragrance and alcohol which might not be suitable for those with sensitive skin. I didn’t see any reduced appearance of pores in one jar and some sample packets.

I would recommend this to those with oily or combination skin. PROS: – Oil Free – Doesn’t irritate my skin – Doesn’t leave skin feeling greasy/sticky – Lightweight and Absorbs well – Gives you a dewy finish – Hydrates well during the day CONS: – Contains Fragrance and Alcohol – Not moisturizing enough for me – Did not see any minimization in pores.

Almost the perfect product! The texture is unusual and unique, it feels just like a regular cream but then transforms into a watery gel as you apply it. very clever I admit! And no tackiness or sticky after-feel either, it sinks in almost immediately and feels mega hydrating as though your skins’ thirst is being quenched (I felt the same thing with Clinique’s DDMG).

The hydrating effect lasts too and was just right for my skin, not too light and not too heavy, a very rare thing for me to come across! Totally adore the jar and gold spatula, ingredients are great too.

To start it off, I don’t have a terrible acne problem, but I have a terrible problem with picking at my face and making it worse. I found out about tatcha through an ipsy bag but somehow forgot about it after.

I’ve been using PanOxyl for my acne recently and it’s been working, but I started to think about my skin and the nourishment it needs. I know aging is normal but I’m about to be 27 and time feels like it’s going by way to fast.

I still feel young and I want to try to still look young to be honest. So I recently saw an ad on Instagram for Tatcha. I decided to buy the limited addition water cream and the mini rice polish for oily skin.

Although pricy, when I received the packaging and letters, I was in awe with how Tatcha is supporting the futures of young girls/women with purchases. For someone who thinks about the world and the impact of everything, who can’t complain about that? So I know you can’t make pores disappear, I will say that using these products for a minute now made my pores appear a lot smaller and unclogged?.

but for people who bought full size products for awhile and don’t have much recycling options in the area, could we request future product in a biodegradable/small bag to just put back into our full size product containers? I can really feel the benefits of this Calendula serum/hydrating moisturizer combo. It feels so cooling and calming on my skin and leaves a comfortable dewy finish. At first glance it seems like a jelly and made me wonder if this was going to really moisturize or even sink in… well it does! A little goes a long way, which is good to know since it is expensive.

Upon application to my skin, it starts to transform into a really nice and easily applied water cream. It provides light (but not sticky or oily) moisture, and it’s the perfect balance… my skin can be dry (esp.

in the AM) but then turns oily as the day goes on. This product does what few other have been able to: give my skin the perfect amount of moisture in the AM, but not leave my skin feeling oily a few hours later.

I see that this is a new formulation, so I’m guessing that accounts for some of the negative reviews complaining about missing the old formulation, but there will be new fans (such as myself!) who much prefer this consistency.

The old formula had random bits of flowers in it that you’d find on your face after applying- so I never bought a full size. This new formula, with the Calendula components micronized (made tiny and not noticeable) makes much more sense as a daily moisturizer/serum combo for my AM routine.

It leaves such a calming and fresh finish! Thumbs up!.

This is the second water cream I ever tried. The first was which I received a free sample of and absolutely loved. This Kiehl’s Calendula water cream is my current favorite because of the calendula and how soothing it is.

I have combination skin and I love how this stuff absorbs so quickly while calming my skin and leaving it incredibly soft. Lately, as it’s the end of June and it’s been so hot out, I have been keeping my container in my mini fridge and it feels like heaven after a long, hot day.

The only thing unappealing about this cream is what it looks like. It’s definitely not a cream, it’s more of a gel and it looks like the crud I was coughing up 8 months ago while recovering from COVID only it’s a different color.

So gross but it really doesn’t matter since it doesn’t change how amazing the product is at all, it just looks phlegmy. 😄.

I never ever leave reviews so for me to be leaving one is because this product is magical. So I bought this little tub to try out as my skin gets dry during the winter but is actually very oily during the summer.

I use it as a base to my cream and it honestly works wonders, love how fresh my skin looks after. Turns out on new years eve I was drunk and cooking (not a good combo) and I burnt myself with my airfryer.

The burnt was pretty ugly, it bubbles up and everything. I began applying the excess left from this serum to the burnt. In less that two weeks the burnt magically disappeared!!! If I could attach a picture of the before and after you guys would be gobsmacked! I have to say this little tub is honestly MAGICAL! Well done Khiels!.

I bought this after doing a lot of research and reading reviews from different sources and personally think this product is not as good as its marketing says. I try to take good care of my skin, and was looking for a lightweight moisturizer to switch to.

I bought this and the first thing I noticed was the smell of cheap cosmetic stuff. That typical smell found in pretty much any regular creams or lotions you get at the supermarket. Regardless, I decided to try it out: texture is quite nice, and it absorbs rapidly into your skin.

But I have been using this for about 5 days and got 4 massive pimples, plus my skin still feels dry. I have never experienced a reaction like this with any other product, and I just stopped using it.

I do not know whether it is the same formulation (this one is made in Brazil) but I definitely do not recommend using it. Plus, for the price paid, I could have bought a much better quality moisturizer.

I prefer a lighter gel, and this is it. My FAVORITE moisturizer. If Neutrogena stopped producing this product, I would die. This moisturizer is amazing and very light. I found that it sets better on the skin if you apply it while your face is damp.

I use it during the summer and winter and it just makes my face feel amazing and refreshed. I struggle with oily skin if I don’t mositurize and this moisturizer leaves no oily residue on my skin at all because it’s water-based.

I was introduced to this product by my boyfriend who’s dermatologist recommended it to him when he was put on Accutane to treat the side-effect of extremely dry skin. I was hesitant at first because I deal with oily skin, while he was having issues with dry skin but it worked amazingly on both of us.

This is my holy grail. My only complaint is that I wish it was a little more affordable for how little product is given!!! I’ve had to buy it about 3 times this school year and the price on it keeps going up.

I wasn’t expecting much because on the whole I don’t think clean beauty delivers as good results as regular skincare, but this surpassed my expectations in every way! I have rosacea and quite sensitive, very dry skin.

Despite this, I hate creamy creams so I’m always looking for a gel moisturizer that still packs a punch. I’ve been using this throughout the Chicago winters (harsh winds and dry heating) and my skin has stayed dewy and plump.

I would never normally apply a moisturizer without cleansing my skin first, but on my laziest days I felt I could apply this just throughout the day because it’s non irritating and would never break me out.

My skin used to be so dry it would get tiny bumps all over as a coping mechanism / to hold onto moisture and they’ve completely gone since using this product. This also doesn’t pill no matter what I put underneath.

I’ve used different vitamin c serums, acids (lactic, Glycolic etc), different hydrating serums and different eye serums all together (like 5 layers) and it has never pilled! Some clean products don’t hold up well over time, but travelled to Brazil with hot temperatures and dipped my fingers in here at the gym, in the airpirt and different hotels over the course of 4 months and the color, consistency, smell and efficacy is the same as when I first opened it.

I seriously wish I could bathe in this.

this is also an all-year-rounder for me, being perfect for all seasons. can’t really ask for much more than that. to address all the reviews that stated it burned, this product does contain lactic & citric acid which are AHAs and are meant to help exfoliate the skin for a soft & supple look, on top of helping to fade any pigmentation or scarring.

if you are new to chemical exfoliants, i can imagine that you will feel this. for the aficionados, you likely won’t feel a thing. side note: even though i am constantly burning the skin on my face off, i do get some strange tingling/numbing sensation within the first minute of application if i haven’t used it for a while.

i disregard this as it goes away and nothing bad has ever happened.

IšverstiShow in original languageI really wanted to like this. I waited until I finished the jar to write this because I thought maybe it would grow on me…but unfortunately that didn’t happen. My skin is combination, sensitive and can get dry in winter.

So it’s hard to find a good moisturizer and I accept that I need to switch things up with the change of seasons. I started using this product in March and it effectively moisturized my skin and didn’t leave a shiny sheen but it made my skin red and irritated.

It also pilled under make up if I didn’t use just the right amount. Now that it’s summer, I still appreciate the lightweight moisture but it continues to make me redder; I now just apply to my neck which isn’t as sensitive.

So what I did like: the texture of the product and the lightness, definitely no shine left behind. I think people with oily skin would appreciate this formula. But what I didn’t like: the heated tingling, redness and irritation and pilling with make up.

#Belif The True Cream – #MoisturizingBomb is one of the best, non-greasy moisturizers I’ve ever tried. I have naturally oily skin alllll over, sadly, yet it still did not break me out at all. It felt like it kept my skin hydrated a full 24 hours, even in the blustery, cold winter winds.

It keeping me moisturized so long may also have a factor from my oily skin, but again, my #HonestReview and experience with it. The texture is just nice and creamy, but not too light- or heavy-weight.

A moisturizer that just glides on easily, and doesn’t smother my skin, nor is it gone too quickly and thin. It feels great on my skin, and makes it have a silky, smooth kind of feel to it, which you are INCREDIBLY thankful for if you know anything about or have any acne scars at all.

My skin just looked nice, healthy, and glowing while I was wearing it. In my experience, I would definitely recommend this product for purchase — because it’s a great, non-greasy, hydrating, lasting moisturizer, that helps your skin feel silky smooth, and it protects so well against any environmental factors, like these cold temps and winds! 10/10; highly recommend! I may have received this product #complimentary for free from #Influenster in exchange for my absolutely #honest review, but ya just got it! 🙂 I’ll never tout a product as being awesome, in my #honestexperience unless it 100% is.

And this is. I was already familiar with the Belif line, because I’d used their aqua bomb gel form of the moisture bomb, which is also incredible… and THAT one I paid for myself, lol! Also, check out the pic of my skin with it on.

Normally my makeup won’t sit that well on my face like that, or will have pore spots visible, or maybe light, hard to see acne scars visible. After a few days or so of using this consistently, cause ya GOTTA give anything a chance and be consistent with it, I was so happy and took a pic while I was just out and about one day.

This is a great product IF you don’t slather it on. I use in the evenings. First, I remove my eye makeup with wet n wild under the sheets makeup wipes or coconut oil. Then, I remove my face makeup using the Avant Biphase Micellar Water.

I next cleanse with an acne wash with a 2. 5% concentration of hydrogen peroxide, and tone with a toner that I buy from a natural skincare company that’s composed of apple cider vinegar and herbs. I apply my retinol treatment and let that dry, waiting about 1 minute before moisturizing with the Boscia cactus Water moisturizer.

I then pat, not rub, this moisturizer into my skin. I pat it lightly onto all areas of my face and neck. less is more. You need to start with a pea sized amount and if you need more, add it. This gel moisturizer contains a LOT of really skin loving ingredients and it may be thick and can be tacky if it’s gooped onto your skin.

Using sparingly and pressing or patting into my skin, I find the slight sticky sensation it leaves behind disappates in less than a minute and find there to be no pilling or build up. You can also use a thicker layer as a sleeping mask.

I was nervous to try this after reading the reviews but I have to disagree with most of them! I layer this moisturizer over a gel-serum and use a sunscreen overtop, plus my makeup and I have zero issues with it pilling.

In fact, I really enjoy the tacky texture underneath makeup because it serves as a really good primer (think the Milk Makeup Hydro-Grip primer). I think you just have to make sure your other products are water based like this one is.

Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because I think it could be a little more hydrating, but I run more dry-combo than oily-combo, so I think I’ll enjoy it more during the humid months.

I have combination oily skin, my Tzone would always get super oily. We’ve since moved to the south where the weather is even hotter and more humid. My face does not get oily when using this. When I put it on it does feel sticky for just a couple seconds until it dries, then my face feels so smooth, soft and plump, my makeup goes on really smooth over it.

I’ve always had issues with other moisturizers feeling greasy and causing breakouts, this one does not at all! It feels very lightweight and gives my skin the right amount of hydration.

When I first started using this product, I was deeply thrown off by the strong scent. I purchased hoping for a rose scent, but it skews much more towards aloe. I did not love it, and also was thrown off by the inability to use it with other products – I found that the cream would react negatively with my cc creams, foundations or concealers and created a pilling effect, most noticeable around my cheek bones and jawline.

All that said, it made a HUGE difference in the quality of my skin tone, improving my dryness, redness and overall texture. Either with time I got more used to the scent, or it became less overpowering throughout the six months I used the product.

I also transitioned from using this product on days were I planned to wear a full face of makeup, to only using this on days I worked from home, or knew I didn’t plan to wear makeup. Again, the benefits of how this hydrated my skin outweighed my inability to layer with makeup – and I really consider this product more of a once in a while deep hydrating lotion, as opposed to an everyday option for myself.

I had purchased the mini size initially (which is what I try to do for all new skin products that offer this option) and I intend to repurchase at the full size. I recommend trying out the mini size first and seeing if this product is a good match for you, before investing in the larger size.

HIGHLIGHTS: -My normal skin type is dry and sensitive (typical ginger complexion issues) -First day using it, my friend who is a licensed esthetician looked at me and said “You’re skin is GLOWING, did you use something new?!” -One week using it so far, and I love how it’s making my skin look.

). I have not found this to be the case at all, AS LONG AS you let it soak in and don’t apply too much! Just apply less than you think, and give it like 15 min to sink in. I have put sunscreen over it every day and had zero pilling issues.

I’m seriously amazed that it made me glow on the first use. So much so that an esthetician took one look at my face and asked if I started something new because my skin looked so lovely. I bought the sample size but will absolutely purchase the full size once it’s out.

have been using the renewed hope in a jar moisturizer for a few years now & loved it but this is not the same product. I remember watching it being presented by Alberti & the philosophy rep. that day on air & he called it renewed hope in a jar & had one product number but when she was talking about it & he looked at the jar & he asked her about the change in name & she said it was the same product only improved & new packaging etc.

& since I was about out of my old jar I did order the product on screen & I did notice that the product number on screen was different from the one that showed while I was ordering it online & I was happy about that because I thought I would be getting the same old product that I loved but I was wrong.

True the new moisturizer has a beautiful glass jar but the moisturizer is NOTHING like the old hope in a jar, why do companies do that, they make something people really like and then change it, I don’t understand that.

This moisturizer does not absorb into the skin like the old stuff no matter how much I rub it in & I have a sticky face all day unless I wash it off. I have used it and 2 hours later stuck a kleenex to my face and it will stay right there, my husband thinks its funny, I’m not laughing.

So I will be searching for a new moisturizer & I’m stuck with 2 jars of this. Think long & hard before you purchase this moisturizer. We have & use alot of Philosophy products and have loved them all until this new improved product.

BURN, BABY, BURN!! I ordered this direct from Philosophy’s website and luckily the full-size jar was FREE (BOGO sale). I thought I liked the regular “renewing refining” or whatever version of this after buying the travel/sample size so purchased the regular size one and wanted to give this one a try as well.

But holy fragrance, Batgirl!!! Just opening the jar the scent was overwhelming so of course I only patch-tested a couple of areas. Good thing because my skin immediately turned bright, flaming red and became swollen (no exaggeration) and remained irritated for 2 days.

And for the record, while some fragrances do either irritate my skin or are just off-putting to me, I generally don’t mind/care about them or even mention them in reviews, especially since it is kind of a subjective thing.

This, however, is pungent and is reminiscent of what an 80 year old’s cold cream might smell like. times 20. While I am certain that the fragrance is the main cause of irritation for me, I believe there might be other guilty ingredients involved as well because the more I use the regular one, the more it burns and is causing issues as well (though I know it contains fragrance too).

Aside from all of this, i still did not enjoy the way it felt on my skin even before the bonfire of dermis commenced. There was no sense of hydration and it was just kind of slick, absorbed quickly, and immediately/initially left my skin feeling tight.

I gave it to my mom and she really likes it and tolerates it well, despite having rosacea and skin far more sensitive than mine. Had it not been free, it was bad enough for me that I would have gone through the hassle of returning it.

Will review the other version of this product soon. (Fun side note – I had an appt with a new derm a day or so after I patch tested this water cream and the dr’s first words when he saw me were “oh my god, how long has your skin this been irritated? What happened? This isn’t what the notes say you are here for!!” That bad.

I’ve been looking for a daily moisturizer ever since the original Hope got discontinued. It was the perfect cream for me for almost 20 years and I want something similar but with a boost of anti-aging ingredients.

I also have sensitive skin so oils and certain other ingredients make me break out. I was seduced by the good reviews for the Water cream, and I did not see anything in the ingredients that would cause a reaction (although I was skeptical about lack of any significant ingredients outside of HA – like vitamins, lactic acid, peptides, ceramides, etc), so I made an effort to give a good try.

The first couple of weeks this cream gave me severe breakouts, which I blamed on adjustment period. It got better, but I noticed my nose getting peppered with blackheads right after applying. I don’t typically get blackheads, especially since I exfoliate religiously and use salicylic acid, so I gave it more time.

It did not get better – even though I was using the Purity clay mask every other day – so I started applying the cream carefully to avoid my nose and surrounding areas – so awkward! Still, my face felt dirty and sticky after every use, and my clear porcelain skin became dull and tired.

After using this cream for maybe two months, I finally realized that I was forcing myself to like it when my skin was clearly hating it. As soon as I stopped using it, my face changed dramatically for the better.

The blackheads disappeared without a trace and my skin got more plump and younger-looking. I’m now trying out other moisturizers, will hopefully find The One soon.

I’m on my third bottle of this magical night gel. It was my first purchase from Eight Saints and quickly took me down the rabbit hole of their other products. This is still my favorite product of theirs—especially when I keep it in the fridge so it can get extra cooling.

I’m in my early thirties with combo skin, some sun damage and hormonal acne. The night gel sinks in immediately and feels super lush after it’s been in the fridge. I use it after I cleanse with the perfect mud cleanser, and use their Coast is Clear toner and a BHA resurfacing serum (Skinergy) every night and it’s made a big difference in the plumpness of my skin the next morning.

Before I started an Eight Saints routine—I was struggling with my skin barrier and this has def helped heal and calm my skin. Def a holy grail product for me esp in the summer. In the winter—you might want some extra moisturizing so I’d recommend following up with the high society oil or their anti-aging night cream.

I’ve recommended this line to all my friends & family.

I love to apply this before my moisturizer. My skin looks incredible with this duo. I love the ingredient list as well as it being fragrance free. My skin developed a sensitivity to some products with fragrance.

I think it will feel best during warmer months. I apply it to damp skin for best results. It’s been a great product for repairing the skin barrier. It’s so gentle! One thing worth noting – It says it is an explosion of hydration and it is described as a moisturizer but I think the company should play around with it to see how they can improve it so it can truly be a moisturizer.

When applied alone, it’s not moisturizing. However I love it in combination with something. It might be good alone for someone with very oily skin.

I’m swooning. I was all about trying Eight Saints for the All In eye cream and the Seeking C serum. But after trying everything in the Discovery Kit, I literally cannot wait to get to the part of my routine that’s all NIGHT SHIFT.

I’m so glad it’s recommended for night OR day use (as makeup primer! woot!) — because I can’t stop. It glides on and in seconds I can feel my skin tossing out a “Hip, hip, hooray!” It’s so cooooooool and silky going on.

It smells like a fresh cucumber spa treatment. It is really, really helping me with dryness. It soaks in quickly so I can put my moisturizer over it. Once it’s on, I have to run my hands across my cheeks about 100 times, because they are just SO SOFT and my skin is so grateful.

Sometimes I can’t quite decide which is my favorite 8S product, but. c’mon. I mean really, I confess, I’m on the Night Shift.
