20 Best Watches For Nato Straps (2023 Updated)

I searched for “best hand-wound watches” and read an article that compared military-issued watches of the 1970s. There was Hamilton, which was issued to NATO troops, and Komandirskye Vostok, issued to Warsaw Pact troops from 1963.

I bought both. Let’s compare them. Price: Russian watch was 10 times cheaper. (£42 vs £395) Delivery: I ordered both at the same time. The Russian watch arrived in 2 days. Hamilton took a week to arrive.

Accuracy: both are equally accurate at keeping good time Duration: The Russian watch runs for 32 hours max. The Hamilton runs for 92 hours max. Quality. The Russian watch has a shiny metal casing which looks cheap and gaudy.

The Hamilton metal casing has a matt surface not shiny. This looks classier, as well as being safer for a soldier as a shiny watch might give away your position at night in a war zone. The straps: The Russian watch has a flimsy leather strap.

Not as good as the Hamilton’s classy tough fabric strap. Adjustments and features. Winding up and adjusting the time are different in both watches. The Russian watch has a day of the month feature, but the Hamilton I bought does not.

When I was buying the Hamilton watch I assumed it would have the date feature. I should have paid more attention on the website while buying.

This is a birthday present for my son’s thirteenth, it should just about fit his growing wrist (quite a large lug to lug of 47mm but it has a nice curve) and hopefully become a keep sake. It’s a lovely first mechanical watch with its sweeping second hand, classic look, excellent finish and real presents.

It was a difficult choice between the black and white dial, I went with the more classical black and the bracelet helps makes it pop, not as much as the white but I wanted a more classic look. I chose the bracelet as it’s more versatile for his needs and cheaper adding a strap rather than a bracelet later on.

I highly recommend this watch at this price point you are getting a lot of watch for your money and the bracelet although straying from its heritage really makes it versatile with daily use. First Class Watches are just that, arrived quickly, at the best price available and bracelet adjusted great service, thank you.

Overall this is a nice watch. Not too chunky like some watches that are available. The black casing is very pleasing to the eye. An added plus is that this watch does not need a battery. The two down sides are (1), the Nato strap – ok if you are appearing on SAS get me out of here ( or whatever this completely detached – from – reality TV show is called ), and (2), the glass face which is very reflective.

When you look at this watch to tell the time, instead of just seeing the hands you also clearly see your face which really is not too good. Now I’m quite happy with my face – it’s just that I don’t want to see it when I’m trying to tell the time.

Apart for the two quibbles, I do like this watch.

Replaced my Series 4 with the Series 7 and although the differences aren’t monumental, they do make the experience a different and better one. The larger, always on display is a feature I never knew I needed until I experienced it on the Series 7.

Surprisingly, being able to glance at the screen no matter where your wrist is positioned is arguably less distracting than having to raise your wrist or tap to wake. The screen size makes everything incredibly easy to read, and the full QWERTY swipe keyboard makes it a breeze to reply without dictation (especially useful when you are in public).

The screen is bright and clear and easy to see in all lighting conditions, whether indoors or out, full sun or a cloudy day. One of my favorite features that actually is useful in the updated Series 7 is the flashlight feature.

I use it frequently to move around in the dark to get ready in the morning easily while my partner sleeps. The screen is super bright, but also directional enough that the flashlight does not wake him.

The improved battery life and the fast charging makes it possible to track the majority of your day, including your sleep. Throwing this on the charger first thing when I wake up gives me a full charge for the day ahead in the time it takes for me to complete my morning routine.

Haptic feedback and the updated tones for alerts and other functions are very nice. Also, I just find it pretty geeky-cool that you can take a blood oxygen reading with this thing. All in all, I could have stuck with my Series 4 for a few more years with no problems…but now that I’ve experienced the Series 7, I know for sure I wouldn’t want to.

One thing to note, the green aluminum is very dark in color and almost appears as a space grey with a slight green tint. The clover Sport Band that came with the watch was not my favorite, and I replaced it immediately with the cargo khaki Nike Sport Loop.

Much better combo. Anyway, Apple nailed it again.

This is my first Apple watch, as I am on my first iPhone since the 4S. I had a FitBit Charge 4 before this, as well as Android smart watches in the past. First off, the capability of this thing is amazing.

Being able to see and respond to notifications is awesome. I like the fact that I can unlock my iPhone with my mask on because I have my watch on. The screen size is nice and big, and it runs smoothly.

The battery life on this is kinda meh compared to my FitBit. The FitBit would last for almost a week before I needed to charge it, while this is about 16-20 hours (I keep the always on display off). Fortunately, charging on this is quick, especially since it uses a USB-C cable on the one end.

There were some issues with my iPhone displaying a notification about the keyboard that would constantly pop up until I restarted the watch. Other than that, there were minimal issues software side. Pairing with my iPhone was a breeze, almost shockingly easy.

Took me a while as a first time user to get used to the settings for each thing I needed to modify (whether to do it on the watch or phone). Definitely got the hang of it once I messed around with it for a while.

Sleep monitoring capabilities are a bit of a disappointment, but that may be due to the lack in the software (sleep app) side that comes with the iPhone. I haven’t explored any 3rd party apps yet, but I feel like the integrated Health/Sleep app should be able to give the detailed sleep statistics, similar to what FitBit does.

Overall, I would recommend this to an iPhone user who wants a way to quickly check notifications, track their steps and heartrate, and is bought into the Apple ecosystem.

This is a beautiful watch which I’ll be using for work. The movement is precise, the teal dial with wave detail makes it look more like my Seamaster but without the price tag, and it is the perfect watch for my rather large wrist, although it may look oversized if your wrist is a tad more dainty.

The ONLY downside is that the bracelet feels a bit cheap compared with the rest of the watch. Service from FCW was superb. the watch was out of stock so it took about 10 days to come through, but I stipulated my wrist circumference and it fitted perfectly right out of the box.

I negotiated a purchase price which was honoured for 2 weeks and I will definitely use FCW in the future.

Beautiful watch, the pictures don’t really show the full quality of how well this watch has been made. There is some weight but not so much that you feel there’s are brick attached to your wrist. Everything about this watch oozes class, have many other tissot watches in the past but this is by far my favourite.

Was tempted by the TAG aqua racer but preferred how this watch looked and felt.

Beautifully executed piece. This watch is big but it fits me fine because I have huge hands and I am 6’2. I don’t think this watch would look good on smaller wrists. All in all an amazing package for the price you are spending.

Value for money.

The Casio CA-53W-1ER is a throw back into the 1980s that has appeared in back to the future as well as a few modern tv series, back then calculator watches were in fashion and considered as technical marvels.

The watch is thinner than I remember but very comfortable on wrist it’s only downside is there is no back light with this watch but considering it’s a calculator watch with panache I’ll forgive Casio for that.

You’ll be surprised to discover that in the watch collecting community the CA-53W-1ER is highly respected and loved, and rightly so.

It’s a vintage wristwatch with calculator, I wanted it as a child and I could buy it now. 😅 Happy days.

was good took a slight knock (normal wear and tear) which was enough dislodge the pin tearing the strap plastic slightly, used to have the original back in 1990 so was pretty disappointed

Recently purchased this timepiece as a daily wear piece. Was debating between a TAG Formula One and this watch and decided that the price combined with the Powermatic 80 automatic movement, 1000ft water resistance, and ceramic bezel were too good to let go.

Watch wears well on the wrist, is not too tall or obtrusive. Ample room for sizing, bracelet fits well even for smaller wrists. All in all very happy with this purchase.

The quality and craftsmanship of this watch are exactly what you’d expect from watches at this price point. Very sturdy, nothing looking out of place or poorly assembled, reliable timekeeping (usually -10 seconds worn a day but I wind my watches fast to compensate for this), very readable date, widely adjustable bracelet (I have 6.

5 inch wrists and 4 lugs can still be removed), and very solid smooth crown action. The hands and dial on the new reference make it a more versatile watch for wearing everyday, or on nicer occasions.

The bezel, however unlike the previous reference is a bit less useful. Now the numbers on the bezel itself are flush with no variation in height or sheen. So while they appear in the stock photos to be very clear and readable, without a difference in finish or being raised from the bezel they tend to get washed out in anything but medium bright lighting conditions like shade or inside.

Let’s get the obvious out of the way; the Tissot Seastar 1000 looks like a submariner, but it’s more than a sub homage. I briefly owned the previous reference of this watch before upgrading to this reference.

And while the previous reference had a more utilitarian bezel and a more unique appearance, the updated reference is a much more wearable everyday watch.

Recently bought a SeaStar with the metal band. I have had a lot watches and I love this one. Great quality at a reasonable price point for an automatic Swiss watch. Nicely crafted with a striking sporty appearance.

The weight says quality but it wears light. Very comfortable and functional. I am impressed with this Tissot and it has become my preferred daily watch. This preference is over watches priced considerably higher.

Highly recommend. Give Tissot a try and you won’t be disappointed. 😊.

Order and delivery service was smooth, but I’m rating the watch 2 stars, not very satisfied, and will likely return it. The big disappointment is the sapphire crystal. It is VERY reflective with glare and distorts the view of the face with a ‘bottle glass’ effect that it makes the watch difficult to see from almost any angle.

The green face I choose looks dark and foggy due to the crystal. Nothing like the brilliant green face in the ads. Not sure how they captured the product photos, maybe with a highly polarizing camera lens it could look like that, but not in real life.

I thought the sapphire was a feature that attracted me, but the execution is poor- would actually be better watch if they instead used a lower quality flat mineral crystal.

This watch is an excellent product for the money. It keeps great time, and the 3 provided watchbands give you multiple options for whatever you want to wear it with. The only slight negative I see is that the illuminated hands and numbers aren’t very bright and are difficult to see in darkness, compared to some other watch brands.

But, for the money it’s an excellent buy.

I have purchased to of these and work in corrections. The first watch I accidentally hit it on a door frame and the glass face shattered. The second one I accidently dropped on the floor. The glass face shattered as well.

Just make sure you don’t work in corrections or law enforcement and it just might make you a good watch.

I bought this watch to be an inexpensive option for work. So far, it is exceeding my expectations. The dial is nicely laid out, not cheap looking like some of these watches can be. The band is comfortable.

It’s not likely to last too long, as the adjustment holes are not reinforced. But between the three of them, I’ll get about a years worth of use in my opinion. There is no warranty, so that is why the price point is low end.

However, I expect to get reasonable service with moderate wear. It doesn’t appear to be a terribly robust watch, so if your work requires a lot of shaking and vibration, it likely won’t last very long.

But for light duty, this item will serve you well and look good doing it. All in all, not a bad value.

The other moon watch as it is known. This reissue is 3mm larger than the Apollo 15, 1971, Cmdr Scott original of 42mm. The original cased the “Universal Swiss” 7730 movement acquired by Bulova instruments USA.

This is a respectable reinturpretation with the 262 kHz “Citizen Japan” precise quartz movement with altered subdials. Its bold on my 7. 5 inch wrist but is conservative and authentic which excuses it amongst the watch specialists.

The bracelet is good, not great with sharp a edged undercut but passable. Spring bar placement being close to the case will only accommodate thin (leather / nylon) bands if you want a change out, curved 1.

8mm spring bars will suit the design better. To sum up its got NASA pedigree and is value for $600, well done to Starbuy Australia. Cheers Johno.

For those who refuse to pay up to 20x the price for a Speedmaster and want accuracy and durability that far exceeds it, the Bulova Lunar Pilot is for them. I love the look, the contrasting finishes on the case, crown, chrono buttons & bracelet, the extra thick sapphire crystal, the gorgeous multi level dial and, of course, the hands.

The bracelet is excellent quality and comfortable, easy to size too. The fact that it is an updated version of the watch worn on the moon doesnt hurt either, the original recently selling for well over $1 million at auction.

20mm lug width means itll fit a multitude of straps. Comes in a very nice, quality wood and vinyl Bulova box for less than the cost of servicing the Speedmaster. Truly a great value watch, strongly recommended.

*** If youre thinking of which lunar pilot to get, its worthy of note that the bracelet model can fit straps but the strap versions will not accept most bracelets due to spring bar hole location. Got a great deal from goldsick2013 in Canada! Thank you!.

On the Bulova , its impressive in all way’s , extremely well made with a feel that makes it seem smaller then its dimentions suggest , clever design. The sweep when the chronograph button is pushed is sweet ! I have several automatic chrono’s and this one is better especially the sweep back on resetting ,, super cool.

The NATO strap is also has a nice fit and finish with a comfortable feel. Box is also well made and will last decades with ease if looked after. All in all I am impressed with this watch and it’s a keeper.

I bought this watch for my husband for Christmas. It is beautiful. Very nice quality, engraving was much nicer than picture in catalog. Strap is so sturdy. Like the watch very much.

My son really liked the watch with the NATO strap. But when ordering, did not see a way to change the monogram style or have the full date, 5/16/2020, put on the watch instead of just “2020”.

I have been looking at this model of Omega Seamaster 300 for some time, and wasn’t sure about ordering one as I was a little concerned about the 42mm size of the watch. After some consideration, I decided to go for it.

When it arrived I was to say the least quietly surprised at how the size had made little difference to the previous seamaster models. Furthermore, upon inspection, I found the the ceramic bezel and dial truly inspiring and in a different league to many similar watches of this quality.

The movement of the watch was not only COSC certified, but also METAS certified putting it in a league well above other high end watches. The watch is only 6 months old and was in stunning condition with all the boxes and certificates.

To say the least I was very impressed with this watch, especially as it had the glide lock system within the clasp, making it easier to adjust the strap sizing to your wrist. With this facility it makes wearing the watch very comfortable.

I would recommend this watch to anyone thinking of taking the plunge as it is so well made and looks magnificent on the wrist. I have several different models of the Omega Seamaster 300, and this is by far the most comfortable to wear and eye catching.

The Seamaster Professional 300M is technically superior to the Rolex Submariner with its co-axial escapement and helium escape valve, but that’s only part of the equation. The style of the Seamaster Professional 300M is becoming timeless in a similar fashion to the Submariner thanks to the older 2531.

80 and other Seamaster models being prominently featured in James Bond films. The latest revision of the classic wave dial Seamaster is beautiful and wears comfortably on the wrist. As someone who has also owned an 116610 Submariner, this Seamaster is the technically superior watch.

The bracelet offers great adjustability, easy micro-adjustment, and an intuitive dive extension. The watch itself keeps time around +1 or +2 seconds per day on my wrist. This consistent accuracy is something I have come to love about all co-axial Omegas I have experienced.

Finally, the dial is one of the best looking dials I have seen on a diving watch (pictures don’t do it justice).

Omega Seamaster is one of the nicest watches for the money. I cant understand the lure of Rolex, when Omega knocks it out of the park with this beauty and about half the cost. You can always find something to not like about watches, or anything for that matter, but on this they are far outweighed but all the nice things about this watch.

Stylish, comfortable, timeless, refined, great lume, and on and on. Love the scalloped bezel, as it looks better and slides under a shirt sleeve much better without fraying the cuffs. The helium escape valve isnt necessary, but is part of the identity of this model.

I will never have a need for it, but it doesnt bother me nor does it get in the way or make the fit uncomfortable. The bracelet is the most comfortable I have worn and doesnt pull my hair, which I have a lot of.

Style, quality and value you cant go wrong.

Very nice looking and functional watch, When purchasing a watch like this ask the seller any questions you may have. Always buy the seller and check his or her feedback carefully. I am pleased with my purchase, E-bay sent the watch to a Authenticator to make sue the watch was Original.

The Authenticator Does Not check the timing of the watch so you should ask the seller if the watch is keeping good time and functioning as it should. When you receive your new watch the first thing to do is fully wind up the power supply and see if the watch is keeping good time and functions are working properly.

Like others, I used to look at this watch in a jewelers window on the way home from school almost every day. At the time the watch cost a whopping 100. Having bought my first watch in 1991, I added to a small but much loved collection over the next 30 years.

I was always confused by the myriad of Omega moon watches but finally got to buy what I learned to regard as the sensibly priced and direct descent in 2021. A great watch, not as brash, common or in your face as some prestige brands, which are still great to own and wear, but more subtle and discreet.

And when you research it a great heritage and history. A must own timepiece for any collection in my humble opinion.

The Omega Speedmaster Professional does not require an endorsement from me or anyone else. It is a tribute to engineering greatness, or so says NASA in certifying it as the official watch for manned space missions.

The fact that it was the first watch worn on the moon in 1969 proves its legacy. As an every day watch how is it? It is perfect. The accuracy is better than any of the other watches in my collection.

You do have to wind it, but winding becomes a welcome ritual that allows you to interact with the watch each day. It is extremely easy to read. At a quick glance, you have the time easily and effortlessly.

The stopwatch has come in handy on more than one occasion as well. And there’s the added benefit that you’re wearing a legendary watch on your wrist. Sure, it’s a little quirky; the hessalite crystal and the daily winding, the manual pressure on the stem it takes to “hack” the watch when setting time, but these things are what makes it so endearing.

It’s a watch that you know won’t let you down. Buy one, and wear it proudly!.

I was really hoping to give this $2,000 watch a better review. I love the bands, I love how the watch looks and feels, but those weren’t the only reasons I bought this. Here are my issues:- Golf GPS is useless without also running the app on your phone which is a battery killer for both your phone and the watch.

– Heart rate monitor via watch alone works half the time. – Weather updates are not automatic and if I’m traveling, I always need to restart the watch for it to recognize where I am. – No simple way to identify what apps are running on the phone which are killing the battery.

– I have no idea if I have to have the Wear OS and / or the TAG app connected to the watch for it to update so, I have to have both running on my iPhone all…the…time!- My golf course is a top FL resort course which was updated 1.

5 years ago and TAG has not yet updated the course map. I probably should have bought the updated Apple Watch and a new TAG automatic (non-digital) watch. Same cost overall and less headache.

Very disappointed. Paid $1600 on a TH Connected. First watch needed to be replaced after only 6 months; it wouldn’t charge. Second one worked for less than a year, then same defect continues. I’ve sent the watch to Tag.

They say there was nothing they could do and they only offered a small discount to buy a new one for approximately $2k. It took them another 5 months to ship my broken, useless watch back. In conclusion, I’ve wasted $1600.

I am so frustrated with this watch and even more so with the support from Tag. From day one the HRM worked intermittently. I would wear it in concert with my Garmin as well as OTF burner HRM and every work out had a 20% variance in calorie count and bpm.

The garmin and OTF HRM are always within 2% of each other. I brought this to the attention of Tag support and they asked me to send the watch back to New Jersey. Upon review they basically told me nothing was wrong with the watch.

Upon receipt I used it again during my OTF and F45 workouts. Same issue. I’d be on the treadmill at a 6:00 minute per mile pace and the Tag shows my heart rate at 90 bpm. Such a beautiful watch. I’m incredibly disappointed all the way around.

The watch is really cool and all, as said in the other reviews. I personally encountered a tiny nuisance with the brown leather strap version: if you happen to wear it on a particularly hot night, the sweat might slightly lose some colour and dyes your wrist.

I don’t think this happens because the strap is made from poor leather, because it isn’t: the material is not grade A leather for sure (it is also slightly rigid) but it’s totally fine and genuine, in my opinion.

I guess something in the tanning process might cause this to happen. I assume it will disappear in time as the leather ages and balances this colour excess. Apart from that, the design is amazing (although the fact that the hands and the face are made of the same metal renders checking the time in a darker environment kinda tricky, but that’s not the watch for that), the strap mechanism is solid and feels good to buckle up and off, and the details makes it feel so much “precious” than its price.

Recommended, with a small note.

I was quite disappointed when I got this watch. The strap was short, I don’t have large wrists but it was short! Also I do expect a watch to keep time, this watch was dead on arrival. Major fail if you ask me.

Waiting for a refund. The brass was a nice finish. Who’s the strap was more robust and longer. I expect more for my money.

Elegant watches, yet very industrial. Surprised me how thin they are (8mm). I was also surprised how thin and short the strap is, but it grew on me during last few days and I am not switching. I can see myself wearing them daily and also to formal occasions in full suit.

I already had the FW01 in a much more modest color scheme. The “brights” on this watch were much brighter than I thought they were going to be, and it makes it seems a bit immature and casual. I consider this my mistake – not theirs.

So, the watch is what it is. I like the FW01. Generally, the qualms I have with the FW01 series is that the date is super small, and I cannot see the date very well with my 46 yr old eyeballs. There is no Day/Date.

I like the design, but the movement inside is not anything super impressive. They take the smaller 966 battery that can be found as an alkaline battery at the dollar stores for a 4-pack. This might look good in the summer, and toned down a bit with a different band.

The quality of the glass / black paint is nice even after a year. Unfortunately, I purchased this as a “final sale” item at $25 w/ free shipping. Total price came to $26 and change. I hate NATO bands so I replaced the band with a Barton band for another $20.

I was looking for a casual watch with a pop of bright green and ran across this watch. I never heard of this brand, but since I just needed a wearable watch I was more interested in cosmeticfeatures than an elaborate time piece.

I was pleasantly surprised at the size and heft of the case, and that it had a mineral crystal – many at this price point are poly. And the pop of bright green didn’t disappoint. While I usually buy traditional, pricier watches, this one makes a great addition to my collection that I can wear every day.

While this does have the offset crown to be ergonomic, you should always take your watch off before you pull out the crown – you wouldn’t want to break a nice watch like this. The reason I held back a star is that I don’t know what movement is inside, only time will tell how it holds out – but at this price point I’m not expecting an heirloom.

Love the watch. Super comfortable and easy to set. I’ve had watches that come with rubber bands that dry rot. This one will break in well i feel. Super simple to set. I would have given it 4 stars overall however my experience with customer service made all the difference in the world.

The watch comes with a plastic clip between the thing that lets you set it to preserve the battery while in the box. As i first put it on, and tried to set it, the entire mechanism came out. I immediately emailed customer service and was responded to within minutes requesting to mail it back in.

Since i just got it today and needed it for a trip where i won’t have any other way to tell time, i asked if they would ship me a new one and i send this one back to expedite the process. I even offered to give my credit card incase they didn’t receive a watch in return.

The gentlemen in customer service has a new watch on the way within a few minutes that will arrive in a week. I cannot tell you how perfectly that went. A+++ 100 to the customer service. I have had nixon and rip curl watches prior however, the timely response and willingness to appease was bar non with electric.
