20 Best Watch For Working Man (2023 Updated)

I have bought three of these infantry watches over the past couple of years. That isn’t because they break either! On the contrary they are very reliable and very tough. They are extremely stylish and look like they should cost far more than the current 20 mark.

I have one for work which has proven to be very tough and can put up with the rigours of building site and roofing work. The other two I wear for ‘posh’ and have them mounted on different colour watch bands to go with whatever I’m wearing.

The black watch, on a black leather bund strap looks like it should cost a weeks wages. I have never looked back since buying my first Infantry watch and I highly recommend them. I’ve attached a photo of my watches, the one on the left is my work watch, thus the scratched and shabby strap.

I’d point out that the strap that comes with the watch seems tough and well made it is just that I prefer leather straps.

Came in a nice packaging. The watch itself is 100% identical to the one on the pictures. It feels light which is a good and a bad thing. I don’t feel it that rugged. Also I’m not digging the crown too much.

I feel like it should be a different shape but i wouldn’t call it ugly. For 22 dollars it is ok I guess. Just don’t expect it to be rugged just because it comes in a camouflage box. The straps are nice.

EDIT: after a few months of use the seconds arrow got stuck on one place and goes one second forward and then one second backwards. I don’t think it’s a battery problem as the stopwatch arrows work and also the seconds arrow is not in stasis but rather glitched out on one second.

Also the stopwatch arrows are working really weird as they wont return to their original position after I hit the reset button. Overall it’s a shame because I really LOVE how this watch looks but it’s very unreliable functionally.

I’ve never dropped it tho YES. I had occasionally knocked it on some wood. I don’t think the problems comes from there as these malfunctions described above started randomly after a lot of time when I hit it (hits were not substantial, slight normal ware knocks on desk or door).

SECOND EDIT: I slapped the watch like 5 times from the metal side and it started running again.

OK so it’s not a Rolex but it did only cost me 5. A few points. It might not blow away in the wind but it is a bit on the light side. Not a bad thing if you’re in a manual job or just don’t like something heavy on you’re wrist.

They claim it’s “water resistant” but I doubt you could shower with it on, I haven’t tried out of fear. The Lume is present and if held up light for a few seconds it does appear bright in a darkened room but it doesn’t last that long, definitely not all night.

The strap is excellent at this price. It’s very comfortable, wicks away sweat much better than a leather strap and dries quickly when wet. I’ve even thought about buying another just for the strap and transplanting it onto another of my watches, it’s that good.

Good clear dial with good contrast against the white hands, though the seconds hand is a bit harder to see. On the positive side the seconds hand does line up perfectly with the graduations on dial, unlike some of the other quartz watches I have.

I set it using a radio controlled clock and in the week and a half it’s lost about 2 seconds. I could pick holes in it but it’s a 5 watch. Really, really good value.

I bought this for scuba diving mainly because of the compass and thermometer features. The compass is nearly useless because there is no way to set your course other than writing your heading on a slate etc.

You also have to re-calibrate the compass every 90 days so don’t lose the instruction booklet or leave it at home because I, personally, can’t remember the procedure without reading it again. The thermometer is also useless while on your wrist, out of the water.

It is affected by your body heat and gives erroneous information. It seems to be very accurate while under water, even if worn directly against my skin. The first battery lasted about nine years so no complaints there plus it only cost me about 75 cents for a new battery when the time came.

I’ve only had it down about 120 feet so I can’t attest to it’s 200 meter capabilities. I’ve never had the stop-watch button get accidentally pushed while diving so I would say it’s a reliable bottom timer.

The compass feature is only accessible while in the “Time” mode so if you are in the elapsed time mode you have to switch back to Time mode in order to read the compass (or thermometer). Nice try, Casio, but this isn’t horse shoes.

It appears that some of the newer Triple Sensor watches now have a rotating bezel so youcan set your compass heading. I recently added a home-made capillary depth gauge to the face so I’m keeping it as a dive watch, at least for now.

It somewhat obstructs the compass but hey, it doesn’t work anyway. Edit: I recently got to try out my capillary depth gauge addition and it was easy to read and accurate to about 40 feet. I made some videos and have recalibrated the deeper depths so it should be fairly close now.

The best part is that now I have a depth gauge dive watch that didn’t cost $900!.

The BEST watch out there !!!!! I bought this as a back up for the one I’ve worn for 15-20 years. I’ve never taken it off except to install a new battery ! It’s tough and has SO many great functions !!!!!.

I’ve worn it for work,play and every other activity including swimming and snorkling up to 20 feet. I lost the directions for it and now i’ll be able to use the compass also ! I would HIGHLY recomend this watch for active people that need function and durability instead of wrist jewelry !!!!!.

The compass on my unit is spot-on compared to a quality magnetic compass. It is easy to calibrate and stays set for at least a month at a time. Default is for magnetic north, but it can easily be set for local declination for direct reading.

For accurate readings, be sure the watch is held horizontal. The onscreen directional heading is for the direction where the N indicator at the top of the watch is pointing. The thermometer can be adjusted to compensate for body temperature to within about a half-degree so you don’t have to take the watch off and wait for the reading to stabilize.

I set mine to match an(other) ambient-reading digital thermometer after I’d worn the watch for about 20 minutes. Worked great. Remember, the watch will read temperature for =its= location. For example, if you are driving and holding the steering wheel and sun comes in the driver’s window, it will heat the watch more than other places inside the car.

Similarly, if the watch is in shadow, it will be cooler than other sources in the sun. Watch features and modes are easily accessed without reference to the included paper manual. One additional feature I really like is the 4 one-shot alarms and a fifth that has a snooze function.

The world-time feature is easy to set and real hand for travel of overseas phone calls. I like the backlit display when the button is pressed. It only stays on a second or so, but this reduces battery drain.

This is the second Expedition watch I have gotten this year. I initally purchased in January and within 2 months the backlight quite working. This is a really clean looking watch and the blue blacklight on the black face is super cool, but yeah stopped working randomly.

I hadn’t dropped it or hit it on anything. I had been outside in negative temperatures and flown on small planes with less pressurized cabins, but nothing extradonary. Replaced the watch under the 90 day electronics guarentee and received my new one in March.

3 months later, the same issue. backlight stopped working. I’m over the 90 days for exchange on this one, and it seems to be a systemic problems since I struck out twice. Watch still looks nice and works, just can’t see the time in the dark.

I found the Timex Expedition, Scout at my local Walmart. They tend to always have them. I love this watch. The fit and function are almost flawless. Hey, it’s not a Rolex, or even an automatic, but for a sub-$100 analog watch, you can’t ever go wrong with this guy! I love it.

You have to hold it in your hand to feel the mechanics. It’s great. Nice audible “tick” with the much needed second hand. Superb Watch, hands down! BTW, no watch should be “disposable. ” This one definitely is Not a cheap quality watch.

If you want quality, buy a Breitling or Rolex! This watch is heirloom quality. Pass it down to your kids/grandkids. They’ll do the same.

Like the many other reviewers of this watch, I am a big fan. I purchased the original in 2015 at a New Hampshire Walmart, and not until several months ago, the band gave up the ghost. The watch itself is still going strong! But after several attempts to engineer a new band for it, I just got the exact same model ordering from Walmart on line.

It has a stop watch, has an alarm, has a light, lasts forever. If you’re a runner who doesn’t want GPS systems tracking you, the need to recharge, or too many systems to navigate that you’ll never use, it’s for you.

I was looking for inexpensive watches with good screen readability and solid water resistance for motorcycling and swimming. As for me, W800H is a choise. Cheap, durable, and free from bells and whistles.

Controls are typical for their kind; I got used to them quickly. The screen has excellent contrast and readability. The watches are more functional than stylish, but as for me, sometimes it is a nice change for the shiny automatic chronometer.

I’ve had one of these watches for about 10 years and it still works perfectly. I bought this watch as my new “going out” watch, but I will still use the old one for the rough and tumble general use. The styling might be getting on, but you can’t go past these watches, at any price.

It functions perfectly, keeps time so well that I can’t remember when I set it last, and I have never replaced the battery in my 10 year old watch – incredible! You set the year (as well as time etc), so it even rolls over dates with leap years, and I think it will be a great seniors watch as it even displays the year for when I forget what year it is.

A different Casio I bought years ago coped with frequent dunking from swimming, sailing etc and never leaked. My present watch mostly only gets wet when cycling in the rain, washing the car etc, but it has never leaked.

The only thing that has worn out is the watch band, which I’ve had to replace. I thoroughly recommend this watch.

Great watch for the hiker and backpacker. The basics are the same as any decent Casio watch, but the ABC additions make it the right tool for me. Altitude, Barometer, and Compass features all work well for me.

Tested it out on a 2-week camping trip in the Mighty Five National parks in Utah. Helpful info, easy to access. And you cant beat the price. Also have not had any issues with water. I wear it swimming, in the shower, etc.

Only had a few weeks and its my first watch outside of a mechanical self wind so take with a grain of salt. It is accurate as long as you don’t wear it for temps but that is expected, takes about 20 minutes for it to read correctly.

If you have smaller wrist like me you will be changing the band. The altimeter is dead on and does the 1 meter like advertised. Barometric feature only works if your outside so if you are in your truck for an hour then climb out and head to your stand it is going to obviously rise so don’t rely on it to warn you of bad weather with a drop in numbers unless you are out first lite and been outside for a while.

I gave only 4 stars because of the design. The buttons keep hitting stuff and even changed once to “RIO” and all my info was wrong. Buttons should be “recessed” inside a shield.

I kind of look at every watch where the elevation is determined by pressure as more of a novelty; a toy to play with in the field. The only way you will ever get accurate elevation readings is with a gps.

In fact, I checked this against my gps and found that after hiking up 2400 ft in elevation, the watch was off by 150 ft. If you’re looking for a professional piece of equipment; something to survive off of, this is not the item.

You will even find this disclaimer in the instruction manual. The watch has a ton of functions that are useable, including sunrise times. A lot of features that I will probably never use, but some might; what time it is in other time zones etc.

As mentioned before, the altimeter will constantly be off and will need to be adjusted. The barometer works well. The temperature is not accurate unless you leave it off your wrist for a half hour or so (also noted in the manual).

The compass (including the declination setting) is very accurate. The accumulated ascent and descent function on the trek logs is a nice function. It pretty much all boils down to this; As far as I’m concerned, a watch that measures altitude based on pressure is never going to be accurate.

If accuracy is what you’re looking for, you’ll need to get a gps watch. But for the sake of having a nice tool to take out in the field to play with, this has got all the bells and whistles. I do enjoy playing with it.

My overall impression is that the watch feels like a sub-hundred dollar dive watch. Obviously, it is, but I keep comparing it to the Casio Duro, which is cheaper, but feels/looks much more expensive on the wrist.

That being said, the watch is solid, with an awesome backlight and a day of the week indicator in addition to the date. I wish the hands were solid instead of skeletonized, as that would make them more visible.

The SST bracelet looks good, and once adjusted, is quite comfortable (it does, howver, jangle a little). Rated at 100 meters, the watch can be used for recreational diving, and for pretty much any activity without fear of water damage.

It looks good enough to be worn casually, but probably not with a suit. In general, this is a solid, inexpensive dive watch with some nice features, and the great build quality you’d expect from Casio.

I have had this watch for one month (Christmas present). It keeps time well enough and it is not difficult to set up, but two things concern me. Firstly the face of the watch is poorly lit, it needs to be in a strong light for me to see the time.

This may be due to the battery running low, if so this shouldn’t be the case with a brand new watch. (Neither is the backlight very effective). Secondly the bracelet clasp is not very reliable, it doesn’t always feel securely closed – on one occasion the watch fell off my wrist, luckily no damage done.

Given Casio’s reputation I expected better.

I wanted an inexpensive watch to wear at work. This is perfect. Worth more than paid for. My digital one is so complicated and messing up lately. Would recommend this watch. Perfect. I grew up before digital and computers and credit cards,cell phones,ect.

Still young and appreciate the technology,but is coming to fast. You have to appreciate the little things in life.

Bought a Tissot Gentleman Powermatic grey dial and a great price. A great Sports watch. Looks smart but at the same time wouldn’t have any problems wearing it at the weekend, or on the beach. The grey dial is a lovely sunray colour.

The watch has very solid feeling and quality is superb. Butterfly clasp with polished inserts on the links. Very comfortable to wear. Lume is good although not amazing. Great size too at 40mm diameter and 48mm lug to lug.

80 hr power reserve. Definitely recommend this watch.

This is a great looking everyday watch. Tissot’s automatic watches, in particular, offer excellent specs at reasonable prices. I was happy to pick this up during Bloomingdale’s Friends & Family sale so the watch came in at a very compelling price.

Tissot does a lot to make its watches look more premium that the price may suggest. The star here is the dial. The eye-catching blue dial may also appear closer to black in certain light. The applied markers are well finished, again elevating the watch.

The bracelet is a bit heavy, but it’s still comfortable to wear. Also lending itself to wearability is the relatively slim dial profile. The watch boasts an 80-hour power reserve, although I have had to wind the watch well before 80 hours.

It could have been though that the watch was not on a full wind. I highly recommend this watch. It’s attractive, versatile, and reasonably priced when you can pick it up on sale.

I ordered my watch on the Tuesday and received on the Thursday. Had a few queries to do with bracelet sizing. All dealt with efficiently by the really helpful and friendly staff. My watch was packaged well.

Watch is of high quality, simple design but the disk colour and format makes it stand out and will compliment any outfit well summer/winter/formal/casual. Highly recommend first class watches.

The first dosimeter that measures gamma and beta radiation separately (gamma in uSv/h, beta in counts/min*cm2). It uses two Geiger counters – one for gamma, one for beta rays – and anti-coincidence system to avoid double counts caused by one gamma quantum affecting both counters.

Sensitivity is very good, RD1008 detects even wery soft radiation, for example, of crystal glass, granite stones, potassium compounds and uranium glass with low content of uranium. The drawback is a bit too small range for beta rays – only 999 counts/min of square centimeter, so it could get overload even by thorium gas mantle.

That range could be bigger, but closing the shutter can extend beta-measurement range twice. Device works in two modes – “measurement” is slower, but more accurate and measures both types of radiation separately in units proper for them, “search” mode is quicker, but measures all radiation without distinction in uSv/h.

RD1008 has option of radiation background subtraction, so we can measure “pure” radiation of our source. First we have to measure background in radiation-safe place, the result is saved in memory of dosimeter and then just switch on option “background subtraction” – we will see “pure” result with separate value of background.

RD1008 counts also all absorbed dose and we can perform two independents counts – when counting “dose1”, the “dose2” register is not active and vice versa. So we can measure, for example, our total absorbed radiation and additionally, radiation absorbed by short time in Chernobyl or plane flight.

Dosimeter uses one AA battery as power source and is extremely energy saving – one fresh battery lasts for 950 hours when using dosimeter on factory settings (without sound and total dose counting). RD1008 has few drawbacks – it’s delicate, has to be handled carefully because grate protecting window of counter is not very thick and can be broken by strong hands.

Unfortunately, the measurement is restarted every time we leave main menu – thats second drawback. And theres no protetive case for dosimeter provided by producer. For such an expensive device it should be included.

But despite those minor disadvantages I can strongly recommend that Geiger counter and I would say, that it’s a Cadillac of dosimeters. RD1008 is worth it’s price and will be best choice both for experienced and beginning “Home Dosimetrists”.

I purchased this as a gift for Christmas for my daughter, however it was a little bit bigger than she normally likes. She likes a smaller case and thinner band. I figured I would keep it because I thought I purchased the Citizen Eco drive so she/I wouldn’t have to worry about the battery.

My fault for not close enough attention and looking at various ones comparing them. Other than that it’s a nice watch good for casual, everyday wear.

I really like the look and the feel of this watch on my wrist. I’ve given it 5 stars for this reason alone. I’ve wanted one for the last 12 months and this colour finally sold me. I’m not bothered with the notifications (email etc) and have never been into smart watches.

The training functions are great and the display is clear for a negative display. The MOVE app makes some things a lot easier to set and control but I have a few frustrating comments – why you can’t categorise activities (even differentiating between say hiking and running) and mostly why you can’t use the workout/timer function in conjunction with an activity.

However these are minor points and ones I’m sure Casio can address at some point. My order was delivered quickly and I will buy direct from G Shock again.

Got this watch a couple of days ago, after wearing GAW-100B for 3 years on my 6. 5-6. 7″ wrist. My first impression was that it is really small in comparison, but just right for my wrist as the band falls almost perpendicular to the case.

Dial is visible from almost all angles and in minimum light available, so the integrated illumination is needed only in pitch dark. I will not go in detail on the excercise plans and stopwatches, as I took this watch because of the better version of atomic timekeeping, as you don’t rely on picking up signal at 2AM, but you can get it any time of day and night.

As for the smartphone characteristics, please be aware that the watch will not pick up anything unless you first enable the app to have permission for control of notifications (off by default in app), and you cannot get only specific notifications, but all or nothing.

If you get 500+ a day like me, I suggest you put the watch in Plane mode, and connect it to the app when needed. Regarding the issue some had recconecting to the app, when you turn off plane mode, go to the app on the phone, and then Manage of the watch you already connected.

Then you go to Pairing on the watch – and done. Watch gets 1 star less because of 2 things: the clasp is plastic and had some mould remanents from the underside, which I had to file off because it was scratching my hand; the other is the squeaking noise of the plastic insert between the band and the case when you move the watch on the wrist.

Noticable, but not that bad.

I needed a running watch and I had to get a g shock because I love them and I couldn’t look anywhere else. The GBD200 looks and feels amazing, it’s simple to use and has great features. However, I’m finding running with it a bit frustrating.

Instructions about how to use GPS are so ambiguous. whichever way I try to run with it (connected to the phone / disconnected / GPS set to smart phone on the Move app), when I review the activity on the Move app it doesn’t show the route on the map.

I also have doubts about the live pace measurement, as when I’m running it only ever displays 4:52 or 5:08 min/km and nothing in between. When I go faster it’s only 4:52, when I slow down it’s only 5:08.

Finally, when running I like to have an alert giving my split time every km, however if you’re trying to stop the activity on exactly for example 5 km, it will be impossibile to do this as the km alert will take up the screen for far too long.

Please Casio send me an email with how resolve all of this or make a detailed instruction video about running with this watch, cause it’s driving me a bit mad.

It wears well and has a little weight to it. The 59 mm case is very nice and big. Get lots of comments! Everything functions perfectly, and came in a nice black diesel box. Definitely would buy another one.

Really nice watch. Great face size as wanted a large faced watch. Only small issue is it isn’t very weighed. I personally like heavy watches however that’s completely personal preference.

Simple but still versatile. Only slight minus is max relay on time with auto off, which is 990 seconds. (Also continuous on function is available)

Had this watch in the 80’s as a kid. Traded lunch a few days for it. It was black and had the plastic band. Loved that watch, survived with me playing football and hockey. This new version I purchased is classy.

Stainless steel band is brilliant, fits perfectly with an easy adjustment for wrist size. You don’t need tools to fit it. I doubt it would survive hockey due to the link band but, this is more classy for an older individual looking for retro wear, not on the game field.

Good for smaller wrists. I have a GShock I love and you could knock someone out with it’s size. The Casio A168W-1 fits me perfect but would be a bit small for larger wrists. I like the simplicity of functions.

Time, Date, Seconds, “Electro Luminescence,” Alarm, Stopwatch. All you really need. I recommend this watch if you like retro with basic functions and simplicity.

All functions work as advertised. Setting the time is a bit tricky. My watch was supplied with a user manual, very helpful, although manual was just a bit larger than a postage stamp. I had to use a magnifying glass to read it.

Without manual, will require a lot of experimenting with the three buttons. Green light source is great. Not t he usual LED, so very even backlight throughout and easy to see display in dark. As far as alarm function, tiny battery can not provide much power for a loud sound.

Can hear if watch is next to ear, and no noise anywhere. If you need an alarm watch, this is not a good choice. So far, time keeping accuracy appears within 30 seconds a month, as claimed. Nicely made stainless steel watch and band.

Small enough size for men and women without being annoyingly large. I needed a watch that shows time, day of week, and date- I am retired, so keeping track of days becomes confusing if you do not have a work week and weekends off.

Most current analog or digital watches only provide a tiny window with date.

I’ve had 2 black plastic Casio Illuminator watches. I like these Casio Illuminator watches, because they’re light weight, you barely notice you have it on. The only problem with the black plastic Casio watch is the plastic band usually breaks before the watch dies, so after the 2nd black one, I got this one because it has a metal band.

The case is still plastic that has been chrome plated, so it is still light weight. I didn’t get this one at first because of concerns about the chrome plating wearing off, so I will see. I’ve seen other reviews that say the plating is durable.

I really like the looks of this watch. You can’t get a better watch for the price. I like that it is light weight and fits my small wrist without looking too big.

Very disappointed. I have bought several watches from you and this is the first time I have negative comments. First, the battery was dead, but I let that slide and just replaced it. But then I also noticed that 3-4 of the metallic number markers had fallen off and are now just floating around inside the crystal.

Did not return because I had opened the watch to change battery so not in “original” condition.

I like the style of Watch it is always good to purchase.
