20 Best Washing Machines Under $500 (2023 Updated)

The washer cleans well. However, you do need to download the full manual (not the short one that comes with the washer). Then, look over not only the process of washing clothes but the maintenance required.

Specifically: 1. Choosing the right setting. 2. Wiping the door seal after finishing and keeping the door open until it dries. 3. Running a tub cleaning cycle after every 30 washes. 4. Cleaning the drain pump filter on a regular basis.

Many of the low ratings come from owners transitioning from top loader washers. All top loaders basically require is throwing clothes in, dumping in detergent, and pressing start if you don’t need to change settings like temperature.

The WMA4000HWA is somewhat more complicated. When you turn it on, it seems to default to the Normal cycle. However, you need to turn the Cycle Selector Knob one click before the washer actually is in the Normal cycle.

Otherwise, you won’t be able to select the cycle modifiers (what LG calls settings such as temperature and spin rate) on the control panel. Because it always defaults back to this semi-Normal state after power off, you can’t leave it in your favorite cycle.

You need to be aware of that if this bothers you. Other low ratings come from people who don’t understand how the washer works. As an example, clothes won’t be sopping wet at the end of most cycles. The spin cycles remove a lot of the water.

However, some of the fault is on LG for not explaining certain things in the manual. Besides the issue of the Normal cycle at start-up, I regularly get the “Sud” or Oversudsing Detection warning when washing dish towels.

The manual does explain what the warning is and how to get out of it. However, it doesn’t suggest how to avoid the error by selecting the Bedding cycle which is for articles that don’t absorb water very well.

The LG ThinQ application does have some value so long as you recognize it’s basically a monitoring tool The remote start function is of value only if you are willing to set it up before “going remote” and then want to send a signal to start washing before you arrive back.

Also, it doesn’t warn you if you are getting the “Sud” warning. Instead, the time until cycle completion display never changes so you must figure out something is wrong. Finally, the manual doesn’t give you step-by-step instructions on how to configure the app and pair it to the washer.

Instead, the manual expects you to understand that you need to download the app, create an account with a username and password, and then let the app walk you through the process. There supposedly is a QR code in the included manual to help but I never found it.

The washer does what is supposed to do. It cleans clothes while using less detergent and water. However, you must be willing to understand how the washer works to get the best results. Otherwise, a top loader especially a commercial style top loader would be a better choice.

To set the stage I had a top load washer for almost 2 decades so this was a mighty big step up, felt like Flintstones to Jetsons! I have been astounded at how clean the laundry gets! This machine is absolutely fantastic! I know there are a lot of options to choose from for the settings, and I have tried some, but usually I put clothes and detergent in, and let the washer decide the cycle, water temp, everything! It is kind of fun, I push the button to start and wait for the machine to figure out what it wants to do to best get the contents clean, there are flashing lights on the console while this is happening, when it is done it puts a number up of how long the cycle will tape, usually 30 minutes! I sometimes feel like I am at a slot machine, watching the flashing lights hoping it will say 30 minutes, not longer.

It feels silly and fun. I currently foster 6 cats from the local no kill shelter. There are also 3 house cats. I end up doing a lot of laundry. I have found that everything that I have washed in this machine from clothes to shoes comes out absolutely clean, smelling like nothing, which is how I like it, I have fibromyalgia and my sense of smell can be very sensitive.

Every thing that I have washed in this washer, some of which has gone in smelling like some rather old dirt, it all comes out smelling clean. I have found that it has to be level!!! Not just by using your smart phone, which only tests in the area the phone is on, not the entire surface.

We bought this washer to replace our 2011 WM3875HVCA. Several improvements were noted including the door seal design and the shorter cycle times. The ThinQ capability is a “nice to have”, but hardly essential.

Unfortunately, the designers mechanized the ThinQ connection so that you can only have letters in the network name (SSID). It’s relatively common to have some special characters in SSID’s (e. g. , underscores and dashes) and this restriction can be very limiting in making a connection to a home network.

The ThinQ “Download” function is interesting, but LG really missed an opportunity by not allowing the user to build a custom cycle and download that. Our 2011 model had a “Programmable” button that could be configured to whatever configuration the user desired.

Not possible in this model, but hopefully something that can be added to the app. Another big miss is that the control panel settings are still not backlit. This makes the settings very hard to read in anything but bright room light.

Using a segmented display, rather than a color LCD display, is also a minor miss. Segmented displays can make it hard to read certain characters. Overall, the WM400HBA is a worthy successor to the WM3875 and highly recommened.

Samsung only make a good looking product! After the first use water leaked from the door, which I expected from a front loader. I haven’t seen one that hasn’t. Now just after a year of use, the spin cycle started making a horrible loud noise, sounds like it’s going to blow up.

Of course its just past the 12 mo. warranty, but that wouldn’t have mattered. For some reason the only warranty service company around our area is not even worthy of 1 star. I’ve tried to find parts, but what I’ve seen is I’d have to pretty much disassemble the whole unit and spend 1/2 the cost of the unit.

Then what, if its the same faulty part, it will just go out next year! Sounds like this has been a common problem, saying sorry doesn’t really help the people that dumped $$ into your product and now have a $900 paperweight.

I built my house 8 years ago with new Samsung kitchen appliances. I had to replace the refrigerator after 6 years and the stove has not worked properly for the last 3 years, even after replacing all the recommended parts.

Its not just Samsung. I’ve had troubles with several manufacturers, GE, Frigidaire, and Kitchen Aid. Very frustrating!.

I really liked this washing machine for the first ten months of use. It was then that it became increasingly loud during the spin cycle. Aside from the loud noise while spinning it worked fine. I called Samsung who than had a repair service come out.

The repair technician said he was going to order parts and his company would be in touch to set up another appointment. He instructed me to just run the spin cycle on low until the repair was done. No problem.

I get the call, the parts are in, another repair appointment is made. After a week goes by, they call me the day before the appointment to tell me it’s a two-man job and they only have one man in the area.

They say they cannot do the job and will kick it back to Samsung. Great. Another week or so goes by before the second repair shop can come out. Same thing. “It’s a two-man job and I’m a one-man operation.

” Honestly, why does Samsung use these people is beyond me. Nobody from Samsung contacts me so I’m forced to call them. Shockingly they cannot find anyone else in the area and will have to kick it up to somebody who will.

No call back from Samsung. I call Samsung and wouldn’t you know the ticket has been reported as complete by the repair shop and nobody seems to know what’s really going on. They send me to “case management.

” And after several times on hold he says he’s sending out a different company and it will be fixed. I immediately ask him who the repair shop and it’s the first company that said they won’t do it because again, it’s a two-man job.

So now I have to wait and see if this repair shop magically found another repair technician in the area. (Rhode Island) I have absolutely no faith this will get done. Btw, In the meantime, the washer has completely broken and is no longer workable at all.

So, it’s off to the laundromat for me! Last time I ever purchase a Samsung product ever!.

This washer is terrible. We bought the matching pedestal, dryer, and installation too. From day one, it shakes violently and walks on its own when in use. Finally, Samsung send out a technician, saying the washer should not be used with the pedestal.

(Wow, then why selling the pedestals??) The technician sticked a patch of black tarp look-alike thingy on both side of the washer. And that was all Samsung did. We tried many different ways to reduce the shake, and finally settled on a set of rubber pads.

The shakes are not as violent. One a couple of weeks, it takes two adults, to readjust the super heavy (200+lbs) washer. What a monumental pain. This machine takes all the joy out of doing laundry. I never owned an Amana washing machine, but I’ve always heard how great and reliable they are. I bought my first Amana washing machine and I was very impressed at how clean it washed my laundry. Although this is a great at washing, I can’t get used to the machine being 100% in charge of the wash load after I press “Start.

” I can “pause” or “cancel” the cycle. One time I tried to “stop” the cycle and it drained all the water out of the tub and I wasted all the He detergent and 12 week long fabric softener/smell good “dots.

” I just make sure never to push down the Start Button for 3+ seconds anymore. Yeah, once it starts the wash fill & wash cycle, u have to let it finish. Personally, I like to first fill the tub with water, soap, and softener dots.

Then, I use a plastic stick to agitate the water and make it very sudsy. Last, I put my laundry in the sudsy water, then I press “Start” to wash the clothes. That is how I did with my old machine bc (I believe) the sudsy water has the activated cleaning enzymes that “work” the dirt, stains, and soil off of the dirty laundry.

I cannot do this method with my new Amana. The Amana instructions say to press “Start”, add detergent, and add laundry so it can “sense” (weigh) the load of laundry in the tub. I can hear it clicking and spinning as it is sensing and weighing the load to determine how much water to use.

It takes too long to use the Deep Water (full tub of water) selection, but, it takes time to sense out the weight, too. Therefore, it takes a longer time to wash a load of clothes than I’m used to. I’m sorry that I didn’t note how long it took to wash each kind of load, but that’s bc it takes a long time and I just move on to doing other things and just check on it an hour later.

It does an excellent job at cleaning the clothes and it does save on water. It’s uses He laundry soap and I love that for my septic tank and the environment.

I bought this washer a year ago and from the beginning my daughter kept telling me that it wasn’t getting the clothes clean. I thought she just didn’t know what she was doing. I wish I’d listened sooner.

As it the “features” that are unnecessary and confusing weren’t bad enough, it doesn’t do basic things that most washers do like having the water start to fill up b4 u add clothes so u cab pour your detergent in w the water only so it disperses evenly throughout the load instead of loading a disappointing amt of dry laundry into the thing and pouring your detergent right on your clothes.

Oh and pods are a no go. they NEVER dissolve fully and stick to your clothes like shine, so u have to do a rinse and spin cycle again. Yay! That brings me too the only good thing about it, the manufacturer warranty bc boy did I need it.

My daughter was right about it not cleaning the clothes well, it also started to not drain properly or barely spin the gallons of water out of the clothes. Imagine my disgust the time I hurt my back lifting an entire load of towels out to be dragged to try tub for me to wring them out and DIRTY DIRTY water was coming out.

Shouldn’t it have been clean water I was hand wringing out? Um. yeah. Sooo I FINALLY get a human on the phone after 2 weeks of calling. Thank God he knew what he was doing and was a somewhat quick fix that he told me is almost a guaranteed issue w this model that he fixes ALL THE TIME.

With it washing clothes for NOW, I still am unimpressed and hate this model. DO NOT BUY, TRUST ME.

We bought this washer about a month ago and I have been using almost every day and I am very pleased with it. I had been looking for a basic washer, no bells and whistles, and this washer fit my criteria as close as I could find, and the price was reasonable, too.

I would prefer to be able to set the wash load size myself, just the old fashioned “small, medium, large” but you can’t seem to find that on new washers these days. However, the auto-sense setting actually fills with more water than my previous HE machine so it does a better washing job.

And if you really want extra water, there is the setting for a deep water wash. It still sounds like it’s sensing the load size but it fill up very full. I found I didn’t have to always use that setting, because like I said, the auto-sense puts in enough water to cover the clothes.

The tub holds more clothes than it looks like it will, and everything can still move around and agitate properly. I can even wash our queen size bedspread in it. I don’t use softeners on our laundry so I don’t know if it has a liquid softener dispenser.

The top of the agitator is capped, so I don’t know where else it would be if there is one. It runs quieter than my previous machine too. That’s a plus since our laundry room is right off the kitchen.

Overall, I am very pleased with this washer.

LG always makes good washing machines and this one is no different. It has a lot of functionality and does a good job cleaning clothes. The transparent lid also makes it kind of fun to watch while it works.

The unit sits very low to the ground, so if you’re putting it inside an overflow tray you have to extend the legs almost all the way up or it will grind against any drain or protrusion in the tray. Our first installers apparently didn’t understand this because they did not properly extend the legs and we heard an incredibly loud grinding sound when it hit about 1/3 of the way through the cycle.

We had another Best buy install team come out to pick up the defective washer but the installer immediately realized the legs had not been extended and we were able to get the unit to work properly. This information was not very apparent in the manual and was not something the installers had any experience with apparently.

The washer can also be a little noisy during that same washing phase if you have it in a second floor laundry room. Our laundry room is above our living room and I could hear the unit during this phase.

But otherwise, it is a remarkable washing machine that is still much quieter than any of the machines we have had before. And it’s very water efficient. It took me a little while to figure out some of the basic functionality given all the options that the unit has but With a little help from the manual and YouTube we had it all figured out fairly soon.

It’s a heavy washing machine so if you’re trying to install it in the second floor, get the installation service. Just don’t forget to tell them to extend the legs if you’re putting it in a drain tray.

I was so excited to get this new washer, but I have been so very disappointed! The deep wash setting and water plus option must be chosen for every single load. When we did not use these settings in the beginning, the water was inconsistent – many times there was not enough.

However, we would sometimes open to adjust the load or add, and entirely too much additional water would be added. We would literally have “clean” loads with garments that had dry areas and other areas with caked detergent.

The water levels are completely illogical! We have had more problems with the distribution of weight in this machine than I have ever experienced with all of the washers used in my life combined! Although not with every load, I now have to redistribute the load manually on a weekly basis, usually with bedding.

I can understand with coverlets – it has happened with past washers. However, it now happens with every load of sheets! Considering this along with the dry spots before we began using the settings as mentioned above, I question the quality of the wash.

My last washer was also an impeller – I know they should and can work better than this. Additionally, the spin cycle is extremely loud. It is so bad two of my dogs are frightened to the same level as fireworks! I strongly encourage anyone considering this washer to reconsider.

I researched and decided on this washer due to the high ratings I read. This purchase was a waste of money, and I’m so sorry we chose it! I sincerely wish we could exchange it. We had our last washer dryer set for over 15 years – I will NOT be able to use this set much longer!.

IFYOU CAN HELP IT DON’T EVER BUY A SMART WASHER! THIS LG is the WORST. Everything about the washer stinks, and I mean LITERALLY. I can’t just pop open the lid in our non-child home, to add a garment.

I have to literally hold a button, stand, wait, until the machine STOPS, WAIT again for it to UNLOCK, throw my ONE ITEM in, push a button for it to RESTART, WAIT AGAIN TO CONFIRM IT LOCKS and that the water starts back, AFTER WAITING until it re-centers itself! This machine started smelling moldy within the 1st two weeks.

If you should only use TWO TABLESPOONS to run a wash, and only put in 4 or 5 small items at a time, A. The dispenser should only hold TWO TABLESPOONS AND B. There should be a line on the inside of the tub, showing maximum height of a load.

In all of it’s “smart sensing”, if WE are the ones who are overloading, rather than this just being a CRAPPY machine, then a buzzer should go off that says we have more than the 12 OUNCES of clothes it seems it can get clean at a time.

The LOW WATER SAVING is SUCH A SCAM FOR EVERY SINGLE THING GREEN. lol The site now tells me to run 3 empty loads in a row with COMMERCIAL CLEANER. If it doesn’t smell better after 3 loads of WATER PLUS commercial cleaner, in an EMPTY machine, then I may have to call a professional.

SOMEONE PLEASE tell me how my last washer, used more water and less toxic product (most concentrated product is usually more toxic), AND got my clothes CLEANER, than this pitiful excuse of a “washing” machine? If I put more than 5 items in, the “smart sensor” doesn’t even get the top of the clothes dry.

I have to go pour in water, on some of my smallest loads, because despite what they say about concentrated cleaner, how is concentrated cleaner helping anything when the item is bone dry when it comes out and the very superficial stains do NOT come out.

EVER. N E V E R. I’d like a vote on how many people in the past had to hire a PROFESSIONAL to come clean their washing machine? Now. just look at all the YOU TUBES ON OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM! I could go on and on.

Remember the low flush toilets, that people have to flush TWICE or the water saving shower heads that people remove the flow protector from, just to rinse their heads. SMART? WATER SAVING? EFFICIENT? THIS LG IS NOT! Running EXTRA EMPTY LOADS to remove the smell, wastes my time, uses more WATER and MORE electricity! T Time Saving? THIS LG IS NOT! Water Saving? THIS LG IS NOT.

ALL OF THIS “GREEN” IS COSTING US SO MUCH time, money and does NOTHING but put feed the corporate green machine, creating lots of jobs for “oversight” committees, to “oversee” us, because THEY are smart enough to save the world.

We apparently aren’t SMART enough to wash our clothes! APPARENTLY LG ISN’T EITHER!.

I have owned two of this model, and this review is mixed because of that. Up to this point, I had always owned and been happy with Kenmore washers and dryers over the past nearly 45 years. Feeling like Sears was not quite what it used to be, I researched and decided on this Whirlpool Model.

I wanted an HE washer, but did not have the space for a front loader which was fine because I was apprehensive about mold and didn’t want to have to worry about it. My first impression was that this machine was a beast.

My mother is bedridden which produced a lot of laundry and a “messy Marvin” husband does his fair share as well. The washer not only cleaned everything wonderfully, but it ran like a champ day in and day out through many loads a week.

for about a couple of years until the control panel went out. This was a bit of an inconvenience, but since I had purchased an extended warranty, we got another washer after it was determined it would be too costly to repair.

Replacing it with the same model is where I went wrong. The second machine has not worked as well as the first from the get-go. It has had a personality all its own when it comes to spinnig the water out completely and so, many times I end of running a second “Drain & Spin” cycle so as to not overwork the dryer which is as waste of electricity and wear and tear on the washer.

We have had two repair people out because it has gone berzerk an danced across the laundry room floor out of the blue with a load of clothes that was not overfilled and was the same laundry that every other week goes through without a hitch.

That repairman tried to blame it on the type of laundry I was doing. The original washer NEVER had any problem of that type at all. The repairman had made up his mind and that was it. I should get a commercial washer he said.

The second time it decided to dance a jig, I was running a cleaning cycle and it was completely empty! No load of commercial washer type wash to be off balance in that one! The second repairman was very knowledgeable and washing the clothes all in Deep Water or Bulky cycle is keeping it from doing Michael Jackson routine; however, the fact remains that the machine does NOT spin correctly and the laundry is too damp at the end of the cycle.

I still have to spin in on the “Drain and Spin” cycle to get it spun a bit better for the dryer. This wastes so much of my time and again, electricity. Then there is the other point that it is ridiculous to buy a washer with that many wash selections and then all one can use is “Bulky” and “Deep Water.

” Because I know this model can do so much better, it is an insult to my intelligence to not take it back as a lemon and replace with a washer that is comparable to the first. THAT is the washer I wanted and believed that I was replacing with that hulk of an excuse for a washer I have been stuck with.

This washer is not going to stand the test of time because it has already had parts coming loose on it from the excessive shaking and walking it has done. I don’t believe that it washes nearly as well as the first one either.

The overall performance of the machine is a total disappointment.

I have had this washer a year and regret it every day! The first thing I miss is the fabric softener dispenser which I never noticed in the store since I figured that was standard since about 1970. Second thing is the lack of option for any water temperature for rinse cycle other than COLD, I feel stripped of my freedom to choose how to rinse my load of laundry! Since this washer is only used by a retired couple and has a selling feature of having a huge tub capacity, I thought I would have less loads to wash, I was wrong! This washer has to be set on deep water mode with minimal clothes each load and hope and prayers that the clothes will become marginally clean.

If you use any other cycle you will be lucky if every stitch of clothing even becomes wet! the clothes hardly move in the tub, very little water is dispensed, I don’t even think the detergent gets distributed over the entire load.

Simply put I despise this washer and many times wash my small loads twice. If I have something with a stain, I have to hand wash, take to the cleaners or to my daughter house to use her washer which will remove it, because this washer won’t.

I have serious buyers remorse with this purchase. The tub moves back and forth about 1/4″ to 1/2″ at a time every couple seconds in not even enough water covering the clothes and has no agitator, how are the clothe suppose to get clean? If you wash a medium or large load, you will see the clothes in the same position upon the end of the load as when you loaded the machine, By large load I am talking about 4 pair of jeans, 4 t-shirts, some boxers and socks.

I find that pathetic. Three towels is the most I can wash and feel they will get somewhat cleaned, sad! Pass on this washer!.

I bought a Whirlpool matching pair of Cabrio appliances (4. 3 cu. ft washer/7. 0 cu. ft. dryer) in July, 2016. The electric dryer is still going strong 5. 5 years later. The washer’s gear box went out a year ago in December, 2020, after 4.

5 years. I had an extended warranty on it that saved my bacon, but due to the COVID-19 “panic-demic”, production supplies came to a near stand-still and inventories depleted quickly, so it took 3 months for the part to arrive and Whirlpool’s designated service repairmen to replace it.

3 months!!! In contacting Whirlpool multiple times during the interim, I suggested that they grant me an allowance, equal to their cost of repair, and let me use it to buy a new product. It sounded like a win-win scenario to me, but Whirlpool would have none of it, so my wife and I had to be greatly inconvenienced for 3 months, and Whirlpool had to spend money on the cost of repair.

The servicemen told me it would’ve cost me about $500 had I not had an extended warranty — $500 in repairs on a washer that originally cost me $400. Amazing! Even if Whirlpool had only given me a partial allowance toward a new washer, both Whirlpool and I would’ve still come out ahead.

Instead, my wife and I were greatly inconvenienced for 3 months, but to Whirlpool’s credit, I paid nothing for the installation of the new gear box, and I now have a 5. 5 year old washer that still makes noises but with almost a year left on its extended warranty.

I don’t fault Whirlpool, but their inflexibility and lack of seeing the big picture were disappointing, since Whirlpool makes a profit on sales, not on warrantied repairs. If I buy Whirlpool replacements in the future, which I’m still inclined to do, I’ll certainly buy another extended warranty, at least on the washer, since there’re so many more working parts and operational cycles involved for a washer than with the spinning tub for a dryer.

I picked this up when it was on sale around 4th of July and the price was well below what I could find at my local stores. In fact the price was just a little more than the baseline, old-school, traditional washers for sale, whcih made the upgrade a no brainer.

So far it has proven to be an outstanding upgrade over my old school washer. So far this machine has handled everything we have thrown at it and I couldn’t be happier. Outwardly, the washer has many features in common with most current models from all manufacturers.

I don’t need a washing machine that looks like art deco architecture or a 1950’s luxury car, and the basic white body and silver accents are fine. I am not totally sure the purpose of the window-lid, with the cat does seem to enjoy watching it spin.

As I have a private well and not city water, it’s hard to gauge if this washer uses less water than our old washer, but it is quieter and does not shake like the old one did from day one when it spins out.

I like that there is an easy to read digital timer on the display so I can tell very quickly if I should wait a few minutes to unload before going off to do something else. My favorite design feature is the elimination of the “agitator” from the drum which makes loading/unloading easier, and eliminates the possibility of (usually delicate) things from getting tangled up around it.

One other nice thing about this washer is that it is higher but narrower than my old, traditional style washer which means it fits a little better in the closet space set up as the wash room. This washer doesn’t have and smart/network features, but I don’t need that level of washer management in my life.

The available wash options seem to cover anything I might need, and I even like the alert chimes that sound like nostalgic video game midi music rather than an annoying buzzer or beeper.

I regret this purchase. Our old Kenmore front-loader that had worked so well for 16 years finally wore out and we had to replace it quickly. Reviews for this washer were great. Here is what I have found: 1.

The washer does not remember your favorite settings (we have two – one for things like linens and towels and dog beds that we wash on hot, and most of our clothes that we wash on cold). So you have to spin the dial and reset ALL the settings every single time you wash your clothes.

I have kids. This is a huge pain. I put little blue stickers next to what they should set for cold, and what they should set for their towels. I shouldn’t have to do this. The standard setting is one rinse.

Who wants only one rinse of soap from their clothes? I do 3 rinses and there is sometimes remaining soap, and I do not use a lot (half a small scoop) 2. The soap dispenser dumps the soap onto one section of clothes with an initial 30-sec burst of cold water no matter what the settings.

Our old washer mixed the soap in the basin below the clothes so nothing got hit with clumps of soap. This is especially problematic for black shirts, fleece jackets and jeans. 3. The middle “Warm” setting means “Hot.

” There is only hot and cold with this washer. It stinks. This means that even though powder detergent (with baking soda and vinegar added) is my preference, we have had to change to liquid for all clothes because clothes were coming out with powder clumps all over them.

Just putting the clothes in after the cycle stops (what I do at my in-laws’ place) is not an option because there is a sensor that thinks there are few clothes so that it only fills with a little bit of water if it doesn’t have the weight of clothes during the initial “sensing” period.

4. We wash almost everything on “Quick Cycle” because the Normal and other wash settings take MORE THAN TWO HOURS for anything more than one rinse cycle. It is ridiculous. When you set your washer to “Quick Cycle” you cannot set the “Pre-soak” or “Extra Full” settings.

These are two of the features that I purchased this washer for, and I can’t even use them unless I want each load to take two hours. I need to stand there, wait for the washer to fill and begin agitating, stop it and set a timer to remember to turn it back on to get a pre-soak for extra dirty items like dog beds and athletic gear.

I am writing this while waiting for my 30 min soak right now. 5. Clothes do not come out clean and fresh. I have NEVER had a problem with my clothes getting clean in a washer before. This one I sometimes need to run twice because clothes smell funky when I pull them out.

In addition, our old washer was magic at getting pet fur (we have both black and white pets, so they hit everything, especially the long-haired white dog), but clothes come out of this washer with clumps of fur all over.

This means that even things that I normally hang dry, I need to run through the dryer for 5-10 min to get some of the fur clumps off. Once hung dry, clothes look like they were worn and like they need to go through the wash again.

6. If you realize you need to change a setting (like lower the temperature like I had to do this morning since medium temp was coming out HOT and I was afraid to ruin my son’s martial arts gear), you cannot do this once you hit start.

You need to drain all the water, add more detergent, reset ALL the settings. What a super pain. What a waste of water. As it is, I don’t know if things will come out clean being washed on cold, but I don’t want to have to replace expensive gear.

7. The agitator does not do a good job mixing clothes. This is where my wish for another front-loader comes in. A front-loader uses less water, and the tumbling action puts all clothes into the water.

This washer needs to FILL to cover clothes, and then I’ll watch and the same clothes stay at the top for a very long time. With sheets, when I open the washer at the end there is ALWAYS a tightly wrapped bundle of sheets, all stuck in a dense package surrounded by one of the sheets that covers neatly over the top and all around.

I cannot imagine how any of the sheets are getting clean. With clothing, the arms of long-sleeved shirts turn into rubber bands – especially stretchy clothing – that bind everything together and get stretched out.

Fortunately I have not had anything ruined by the washer, but I am surprised. 8. I am 5’6″ and have difficulty getting things out of this washer. I need to balance on my belly on the edge to reach socks stuck at the bottom.

If I were a smaller or older person, this would be hugely problematic. I realized when I signed on to write this that I have hated this washer FOR A FULL YEAR, and I have hated it from Day 1 (I almost cried that first day when I ran my first loads of backed up laundry).

I regret this expensive purchase and wish I had found an additional $200 or so to purchase a front-loader which would have cleaned better and been less of a water hog. Most of the problems that I experience on a weekly basis you cannot see in the store.

Most of these issues are deal-breakers on their own, and we are stuck with this thing for years. I never minded doing laundry before, and now I hate it. The process is a pain, and things don’t come out as clean as they used to.

I should have taken photos but I have not. If I am able to I will add photos later.

First and foremost, the washer does not agitate the load at all during wash cycle. We have tried different load size (small, large, medium) and multiple modes (normal, perm press + deep fill, heavy duty).

In all cases, although the barrel turns, the clothes move very little. The clothes that were on top at the beginning of wash cycle remains on top for the entire cycle. It appears as if the clothes are slipping off from the effort of the barrel to agitate.

We thought it is the issue of the automatic water fill level being too low, so we tried “deep fill”. While this mode does fill the barrel with more water, it still does not agitate the clothes – clothes on top at the beginning remain on top.

As a result, clothes with stain remain stained after completion. Second, a normal wash with 2 rinse cycles for a normal size load takes over 2 hours. We understand that it is dependent on water pressure etc, but what makes this more aggravating is the washer’s time estimate keeps getting longer and longer as the cycle proceeds so we just don’t know when it will end (i.

e. , we cannot just set up a timer and be done). You would think that all these “smart” technologies will allow them to calculate the water flow rate at the beginning and provide a correct estimate – well that’s not happening here.

Just for a reference, it always took exactly 35 minutes to do any load for our old washer, and the clothes always came out clean. And third, perhaps adding to the time issue, the washer “thinks” just too much.

Between cycles, it stops for tens of seconds, does so many slow spins of no apparent use, stops again for tens of seconds, before finally moving onto the next cycle. We understand that it probably wants to ensure that things are proceeding as it expects by doing multiple checks, but come on.

Overall, we are very unhappy about the washer. Tyr to contact Samsung with out a solution.

Both my husband and I have worked as managers in customer service for many years. We were promised a service and quite disappointed when this was not completed and followed through. This product came highly recommended and I was not thoroughly sold on it I have had Samsung products before and did not have success with them but I listened to this person.

I believe a product should last longer than this did. We take great care of our belongings and our last washer lasted for many years and the one before that didn’t need to be replaced we wanted a new one.

We requested to speak with a manager and one did not call us back. I know your company does plenty of business and you will move on from this. I wish I would have read your reviews before I bought this washer! When your service technician came out and diagnosed the problem and told us many other washers have this issue and we have read about this we felt like we were going to be taken care of by your company.

The next day when we called you did not stand by your word. I believe this is not good business. We have all of the information you gave us and will give it to our legal department to see if they can assist us in the matter.

In the meantime we will see about purchasing a washer with a company that wants to do business with us. Thank you for your time.

I bought this washer and the coordinating dryer set in January at Lowe’s home improvement and I absolutely love it. By connecting the washer via wifi to the smart things app by pressing the smart control button on the machine I am able to access 11 additional wash cycles to the already 10 wash cycles directly on the machine.

There are several steam settings that are great for deep cleaning and removing stains and odors. My daughter still sets the bed and urine odors used to be really hard to remove from linens even when I added a liquid laundry sanitizer.

The machine is energy efficient (and ADA compliant?) I absolutely love this washer. The app reminds you when it’s time to run a clean cycle to prevent the washer from smells and detergent build up. It’s much easier to use than my LG top loading machine.

The absence of a center agitator means it’s gentler on clothes. It was expensive but a great investment considering how much use it gets. It has a quick wash cycle which is only 30 minutes. The machine senses the weight of clothes in the load and adjusts the amount of water needed for the wash.

The washer is large enough to wash several blankets or a king size down insert. My only complaint is that sometimes the washer doesn’t want to connect to the app and it is a pain when you want to change the downloaded cycle.

However there is a customer support line for troubleshooting. Because of all the additional features it is a bit more expensive than a standard machine but I talked my husband into getting it since I do all the laundry and it’s been a great product.

Remember that Lowe’s will price match any competitor. I was able to get over $400 refunded because I found the set online cheaper after I bought it. I’ve included photos from the app of the additional wash cycles you can switch to for the download settings.

We purchased this new washer from Samsung because her loved our last set from them he have had for the last 14 years. Worked great for 5 months then started making this banging noise that kept getting worse as it hit the spin cycle.

the machine was just rocking like crazy so I stopped and checked to make sure the machine was level and removed half the load thinking it might be overload but it wasn’t a large load but still took some out.

seemed like after i restarted the load it was even worse. Had to call samsung and wait for there repair tech to show and then he told us it was the drum brace that is broken and none repairable and we needed a new machine.

Then he called his office people and then hassled us about how its a 2020 model (we purchased in Feb. 2021) and not covered under warranty. We had to argue with him and produce the receipt and show that we had only had it a few months he then had to call them back and was mumbling about how we have proof of purchase then he stepped out of the house for a few then came back and said that Samsung will be in touch with us and put the washer back together and left.

The only saving grace is the fact that Samsung is offering us a full refund (Still waiting for that) and how it will take a few weeks. Mean time dead washer.

We recently had to replace a set of Maytag front loads that had lasted our family for nearly 30 years. Living in remote Alaska made getting our appliances replaced a little more difficult. I spent a number of hours researching new washer and dryer sets and reading reviews online (* see ps note below).

I ranked my top choices and prepared to pick out a set from Lowes during a recent trip to Anchorage. Lowes had the Sapphire set in stock so I made the purchase and arranged for the bush order delivery.

Lowes and AK Air Cargo pulled through with a priority delivery. The set arrived in Nome just two days after I made the purchase. It may only be day 4 after install but we have ran at least 10 loads through the set and are completely impressed.

The features available on this washer and dryer are amazing! I love the “washer link” setting, the dryer receives the settings from the load currently in the washer… all you have to do is swap the clothes and press start.

The washer is full of options as well; detergent reservoir with auto dispense, Ultra Fresh Vent (no more having to leave the washer door open or having a stinky washer), anti microbial materials for the door seal, detergent area, and drain hose.

The WiFi link and Smart HQ app makes monitoring cycle times, detergent levels, dryer sheets remaining, PS – do not let the one star reviews of the noisy or shaking of the washer scare you away… follow the install instructions and remove the shipping bolts from the rear of the washer and you will not experience this problem! If all else fails read the instructions folks!.

The unit works as expected, but as others have mentioned, the fact that it doesn’t use a brushless motor makes it a bit more noisy than the unit it replaced, Given the feature intended to dry the interior causes the motor to be on for hours, this is rather irksome.

Certainly better in every other respect than the unit it replaced. The app is buggy, hung up when uploading this unit and the matching dryer. Force quitting the app showed it had actually completed the task.

App also doesn’t make it easy to add a second user, should simply have that option at install. I’ve not managed to do it yet. With the advent of sanitizer products that need to be poured into the softener tray, an additional tray would be a big plus.

A little annoying to have to run a separate “rinse and spin” just to add softener. Some additions to the user manual would be helpful. Does the unit actually have a water heater? If so, in on what setting is it operational? If you think of all the complaints about front loaders & how distance from a hot water heater might be critical when a unit only uses a few gallons, setting it to Warm or Hot might not actually get the user the temp they expect – unless an onboard heater, coupled with a temp sensor is in play and I’ve not been able to confirm that (my water heater is in the basement directly below the washer, so I don’t have that issue).

Happy it didn’t come with hoses, given the problems with the one that shipped with the matching steam dryer (see second review).

First and foremost this washer is fair for washing clothes. For the purpose of this review, I will focus on how poorly it washes comforters & other large capacity loads. I purchased this particular unit for washing clothes & comforters.

My previous smaller 4. 6 Cu/Ft front load washer (different competitor brand) had no trouble performing those basic tasks. It would completely soak a plush queen size comforter with enough water to fully clean every square inch of it superbly.

I assumed the GE GFW850SPNRS 5. 0 Cu. Ft. capacity would perform even better, right? NO, I was wrong! This particular GE unit does not use enough water to completely soak a comforter enough to properly clean it! During the wash cycle, there are large portions of the comforter that is still dry! How is this possible? Did GE Quality Control even bother testing the “Bulky/Bedding” cycle before it left the facility? That extra 5.

0 Cu Ft is pointless when the washer will not utilize enough water to accommodate the capacity of your load. It’s like buying a 5000 sq ft house that’s equipped with only a half-sized bathroom (good luck taking a bath in the sink).

The various wash cycles do not offer any unique useful features. They mostly function in the same manner, and the unit doesn’t understand that it needs MORE WATER to wash a large load. An “add extra water” feature/button would have been an excellent implementation.

My older previous smaller front load washer actually had this brilliant feature. Here is customer service review portion of my experience. GE please take note because some of your customers are being SCAMMED by some of your own repair tech contractors: I contacted customer service regarding this issue, and they scheduled a “repair tech” to “troubleshoot” my particular unit.

The technician came and only ran a “Rinse & Spin” cycle and then informed me that there was enough water pouring into the empty tub of the washer to rinse it out, so there isn’t anything wrong with it.

LOL… I explained to him that wasn’t the problem, nor was that an issue that was brought up when I called GE customer support. Then he exclaimed, “You could always go to the laundromat. ” I then immediately knew that he wasn’t going to lift his finger to “troubleshoot” nor “repair” anything.

He did in fact tell me right to my face, “I’m going to have to lie and just say that I repaired the internal water valve. If I don’t write something down on this work repair order form, then I’ll have to charge you for my visit.

So I’m actually doing you a favor. ” Thus, he only showed up to collect a quick & dirty paycheck and then be off on his merry little way… *Attention: Repair Technicians: Just because we are in the middle of a pandemic, doesn’t give you an excuse to do shady “repair work”.

We owned a Maytag Bravos XL for many years which I LOVED – it finally quit working after I let a neighbor use it because her machine quit mid cycle while washing a heavy blanket and she needed to finish a spin cycle.

Unfortunately for me, her heavy blanket subsequently ruined my Bravos XL. I purchase this Maytag as a replacement b/c it was cheaper but still Maytag. That was a bad idea. This unit is NOISY. It makes a loud clicking noise when analyzing the load size/weight when you first start it, it makes another loud click when it unlocks at the end of the cycle, and it’s even loud when the water is dispensing somehow.

It’s noisy. But that’s not really the main reason I gave this a 1 star review. The Machine DOES NOT CLEAN ANYTHING! Our clothes come out with random spots on certain shirts that have to be rewashed. Stains do NOT come out at all without pretreating them.

and in my previous Maytag this was not an issue. Even our white towels are NO LONGER WHITE. Literally, any little stain just stays on the towels. We have used white towels for 20 years without this issue and using 3 other machines, but this machine is truly crap.

Our clothes and towels do smell clean, but they don’t LOOK clean. Our sheets and towels are dingy. this is my final straw and the reason I am buying a new washing machine. It’s embarrassing how they just keep getting worse.

I read someone else’s review stating that the hot/cold function does not work well and I can concur with that also. I thought maybe it was just our connections because we bought this when we moved into a new house, but apparently it’s just another fault with this machine.

I do recommend the Maytag Bravos XL if you are a hardcore Maytag fan, but NOT this particular unit!.

We have named our washer The Sloth. Big, slow and unimpressive. Don’t let that great big tub fool you into thinking it can handle large loads. You can fill it up with clothes but they won’t get clean.

The water level won’t rise above about 40% of the tub no matter what setting you use. The clothes on top will go through the entire wash cycle never getting wet, or clean. The “agitator”, doesn’t. The water barely moves.

We have to put the machine on Power Wash with Deep cycle and load it light to get all the clothes clean. This machine uses half the water of old style machines and can only clean half a load. We have to run two loads to accomplish what our machine could do in a single load.

There’s efficiency for you. Unfortunately this appears to be the common mode of operation for all new washers. They call them high efficiency, but they aren’t. If I thought I could find another washer without these issues I would return The Sloth to Best Buy as an overmarketed, poorly engineered excuse of a washer.

It probably meets government regulations, but it fails to perform its intended function.

I had an older but working washer but decided I wanted a matching set. After a lot of research I decided that this was the best washer for my family. It wasn’t the cheapest washer but it had a nice capacity and I could get a matching set and I like the idea of the fingerprint list stainless steel.

However I’ve had many problems with this washer since I bought it in January. Although I have a 3-year warranty on it through Best buy the manufacturer makes you go through them before they allow you to use your Best buy warranty.

I have had repairman out to my house to fix it four times now. They’ve replaced almost every single part there is in it. Now although it is working again at some point someone snipped the wire harness that controls the temperature.

So I now have to have someone come out again to fix the temperature. Although the repairman that they send out our polite there have been multiple weeks throughout the year that I’ve been without a washing machine.

For my family of five that does not work. At this point I feel like they put so much money into parts and repairmen it would have been cheaper for them just to give me a new washing machine. I’m very unimpressed with the Samsung washing machine and for the price I paid for it it should have lasted me for years.

I was concerned initially because I never had a washer without an agitator. That does not seem to present any problem. One main factor to be mindful of is the time it takes to wash clothes. Regular/Medium Load is minimum 56 minutes, Heavy load is 1 hour 36 minutes.

Only a lightweight load should be used for a 30-minute wash, and without an agitator, the washer depends on its fast speed and a long wash cycle to get the dirt out from your clothes. I have gotten used to a longer than usual cycle, but it is something to consider if you regularly need to wash clothes at the last minute.

It is highly recommended that at least one house member reads the guided manual thoroughly before using the washer; To work proficiently, the washer needs an initiation process to set the balance on the ground angle using the function on a keypad so that the spin tumbles evenly.

But after that, nothing too fancy. It looks like a lot of options, but it is not after a couple of times.

This washer lasted almost exactly 3 years. Then it stopped spinning/ rinsing. The $60 a visit repair person said it needed a new control board and that would be a $350 fix. We decided to just buy a new washer instead of repairing this one.

So beware of this 5. 0 Samsung top load Washer dying relatively soon. Otherwise, I really loved all the features and the work it did as a washer prior to breaking. The black color was gorgeous as well.

One thing that I tested at the start and found out – is that all regular non heavy duty clothes needed to be set to COLD. Not Cool, definitely not warm/hot, but COLD. Otherwise the 3 times I tried with “Cool” – they all shrank significantly.

I kept the same Delicate Dryer cycle for all these clothes when I was trying them on Cold/Cool Washer tests, so the shrinking had nothing to do with the Dryer to my knowledge. Just an fyi for anyone who might find this useful.

We needed a clothes washer fast as our old unit had shook itself to death, I had past knowledge with LOWE’S Appliance as they always came thru with great service so I contacted a local store and went on Line to check out various units.

Due to the features and price I selected the GE model GTW335ASN2. Features were to be just the basic controls minimum bells and whistles with a stainless steel tub and price around $600. 00. After reading the reviews that were generally positive, the price and features I proceeded with purchase.

Lowes came thru with delivery on time and installation was straight forward. I am so happy with the unit and the common sense controls and layout, much much more than expected for the price. There are two important controls this unit has, 1.

) Is the pause button which shuts down the unit and unlocks the tub lid when in spin cycle and is handy say you need to add more clothes, the unit is vibrating more than sensor can correct and you have to adjust clothe distribution in tub (Only had to do this once when one heavy garment was among other light ones) after adding clothes or adjusting imbalance issues simply hit pause button again and unit starts where it left off not back at the start.

2. ) The other great control is the DEEP RINSE Button. I use this function a lot because we have extremely hard water and the extra rinse and wash cycle gives you a much cleaner load I have seen the difference in our whites and colors.

I wanted a reasonably priced unit I have it, I wamted quality I have it, I wanted it to be simple to use I have it. I wanted it to be designed with common sense and appropriate controls I have it.

If you buy this washer, get an extended warranty or a computer that is used to troubleshoot it. I really should have bought the Speed queen washing machine instead of this one. Doesn’t clean well, even for something as simple as bodywash rags.

Do not purchase this machine if you have older plumbing set up. The pressure is too much and will flood out of the drain pipe vs the older style washing machines that slowly released the water. The common issues I’ve had with it are as followed: *If anyone has any knowledge on these issues please let me know* -If you like to presoak your clothing, then do it in a separate container or tub because The water will drain out within about 7-10 minutes so.

-unlike my previous washing machine that (I wish I would have brought with me) was the old school type, theres no way to reset the washer until it’s finished whatever it’s doing. Unplugging it does not reset.

Old school washers can be reset just by unplugging it. If this washer is stuck in the issue cycle, you cannot fix it without a computer compatible with the brand. -randomly This washer will be in mid-cycle on the wash setting and will dump all of the water before it has finished.

It doesn’t happen all the time but it’s common. Leave the lid open otherwise it can start by itself. -before the one year manufacturers warranty was up, I had three service techs here fixing the issues.

I really regret getting this washing machine and I regret not having the money to get the extended warranty. The techs did not recommend this model based on the quantity of the service calls he got on it.

-Becomes unbalanced frequently. Even when one of the technicians was here, he ran it through about 10 cycles to make sure everything was okay and he brought his stuff to put into the drum to make it balanced, it kept throwing off balance codes and the washing machine moved about 4 ft away from my wall and almost caused a flood.

I do not recommend.

I SENT A REVIEW TO GE IN JUNE 23,2022: I got my washer installed on June 3, 2022. My 20+ year old washer was removed & recycled before the new old came. This washer had a very cheap short plastic hose for removing the water with a poorly designed terrible fastener.

Of the 4 washes I did the hose came off 3 times flooding my basement. I went back to Home Depot where I bought it an explained my problem. I told them my old washer had a good RUBBER hose with a spring type fastener that you tightened with a screw.

It also had a hooked top to set in the drain. I wished I had kept that old hose that never ever gave me any problem. The woman at Home Depot gave me a better hose at no charge. It is an 8 foot hose with the same type of fastener and had a hooked end like my old hose.

It is plastic but it is more flexible and a better grade than the one that came with the washer. It was only $14. 95. I have only done one wash since but I think this hose will be more dependable and I won’t have to stay and watch it.

This is what I hope solves this problem for another 20+ years. They sure don’t make thing like they used to. Another problem is trying to stop the washer it seems to restart at the beginning of the cycle when you hit the pause button.

The only thing I like so far is the quick cycle. The other ones seem to take an awful lot of time with pauses I don’t understand. BETTER HOSE: Everbilt 8 ft. Corrugated Washing Machine Discharge Hose HRBDIS08EB.

It’s swanky looking and I love that we. An add to the load, but that’s where it ends. I didn’t like early on to find that you can’t manipulate the wash cycle easily… but then real issues rather than inconveniences cropped up.

Just after the one-year manufacturer warranty expired (of course), the machine started leaking. And not like a tiny dribble, but like an entire washer full of water. It ran under our dryer and across our laundry room floor.

Our son slipped and hit his head (literally a golf ball-sized knot from it, but thankfully okay) and our baseboard behind the machines are warped. After this happened a couple of times, we then started having “SUD” and “5C” errors.

We’ve had multiple service calls through BB (geek squad coverage) and OF COURSE it doesn’t leak during that time. The last call, the tech found that the leak comes from the back (top portion, not the vent at the bottom), based on how it was a clean line down, whereas the rest had some collected lint.

Now, I thought the error codes were a result of putting too much detergent but that isn’t the case. No matter how much or how little, it randomly does it now. All of this to say, I cannot STAND this washer.

I am so frustrated that we spent this amount of money and have all of these issues.

This washer started having issues after only 2 years. It stopped draining properly and would leave the everything soaking wet. Luckily I bought the extended warranty with it. It took well over a month to fix during which time I had to go to the laundry mat because the washer was not usable.

Best Buy warranty fixed the issue and all was good for another 2 – 2 1/2 years. Then I noticed that the clothes were starting to seem more wet after washing again so I called service in again. They were out a couple of times and replaced some parts.

It kept having the same issue and it was getting worse and worse. The washer was constantly giving error codes 5ud and 5c. Meaning there were too many suds and it couldn’t drain. It even gave me the suds code on a load with no detergent.

Eventually I was told that it was the motherboard that need to be replaced, except that part was no longer available to get so the washer could not be fixed and I would have to get a new one. I have since gotten a new washer but I spent $2,500 on a matching washer and dryer set 5 years ago and expected them to last far more than 5 years.

I don’t know much about other Samsung appliances but I would suggest staying away from this one!.

Samsung, A Brand that doesn’t need any introduction. I doesn’t own this washing machine, but my elder brother who is living abroad own this. I used to wash my clothes in this Samsung front load machine whenever I stay at my brother’s house.

This is the most advanced in tech. and so easy to use machine. It’s preset settings helps to make your wash easy. Just drop your clothes / towels / bedsheets / small carpets / pet related stuff, etc.

in the machine through front door. Wait until the auto timer buzzes. Then after It automatically dries your washables, and your laundry is done. This washing machine efficiently works with very little water, and It even have a second optional door so that you can add additional laundry once you have started the machine.

Of course this Samsung add wash doesn’t sounds loud, it runs so quitely that you may look into it whether it’s working or not. This machine’s body was made of stylish, very strong, fibre metal and washing drum with heavy and strong stainless steel.

This front load machine have a very huge spacious room in its drum for the ease of washing. The machine itself takes the required quantity of water level automatically, and releases the water accordingly during the wash.

The machine works with a digital display control panel and it’s knob allows you to select the options, timer, drying etc. You’ve to just select the kind of stuff you’re going to wash, dropping certain quantity of detergent into it, then it will do the remaining work simultaneously.

The machine itself passes an error message with sound if something has gone wrong. There are other additional options such as pause button, setting a delayed wash timer, child safety lock etc. Above all this, Samsung front loader is an excellent energy saver, and it’s star rating is 4.

6 / 5. The machine’s sencers allows you to operate the machine remotely through a smart adapter which directly syncs to your mobile phone’s syncing data. This washing machine is really a very very useful product that every house shall have.

Price also is so reasonable compared to other similar brands.

I’ve had my LG WM9000HVA washer since 2019, and it is still awesome! I’ve only given it 4 stars because of a problem that it had that I just recently realized how to fix. The fabric softener dispenser had been retaining a full container of liquid after each wash cycle.

I measured the electrical resistance of each of the three cold water outlet solenoids and found them all to be within spec (good). I then watched the fabric dispenser through a complete wash cycle and noticed that water only trickled into it.

I concluded that it must be internal mineral deposits from the water or some other obstruction that must be the problem. After replacing the cold water valve assembly, the washer now performs like it is brand new! I purchased the washer because of it’s large capacity and very good rating.

The large capacity was/is important to me because prior to purchasing the washer, I had to regularly go to a Laundromat only to wash King size bedding (comforters, mattress pads, linen, etc. ). Aside from the inconvenience of going to the Laundromat and waiting, I had to always have coins! Since getting the washer, those days are long gone! The washer is fantastic and performs flawlessly.

I religiously perform the required tub cleans and keep it’s exterior clean. My family uses the washer EVERY DAY. It performs without a hiccup. Well done, LG.

Bought this unit roughly a year and 1 month ago for our new house and it has been a completely nightmare. On July 4th the unit flooded our second floor laundry and even did damage to first floor ceiling below laundry room.

Spent many hours on July 5th trying to trouble shoot and figure out what problem was. There wear no leaks from supply lines or from the discharge hose. Took forever to get a repair technician out to look at it.

Finally he came on July 22nd and he seemed to feel the problem was the discharge issue because it was installed 12″ instead 6″ into wall charge shoot. I explained to him that it only leaked while water was coming into unit and NOT when it was flowing out but he insisted it was a discharge issue.

He tested it and without laundry in it, it worked fine. So after he left, we put a load of clothes in and it leaked all over again. We have a new home that is being severely damaged by this washing that was supposed to be their top of line machine.

It is junk and because it is outside of 1 year it is out of warranty.

I’ve owned this washer for just about 5 years now and have done hundreds of loads of laundry. Here’s what I’ve learned thus far. PROS: – Large Capacity – Clothes Come Out Cleaner Than My Old Top Loader CONS: – The washer often gets stuck with 6 minutes remaining trying to rebalance the load before the final spin.

As smart as the washer is, it will remain on 6 minutes for hours because it cannot figure out how to balance the load. Just to be clear. I am not washing huge loads or heavy items. My solution is to pause the load and bring all the clothes to the front of the dryer, then unpause the load.

Usually, the washer will be able to figure out how to balance the load after I do this. On occasion I will need to stop the load and simply restart with a Rinse and Spin cycle and pray that the load completes without its usual snafu.

Apparently there is no solution to this problem. – The wimpy little drain pump died pretty much right after the warranty period ended. I expected to see something more impressive given the overall look of the machine.

The washer needed to be moved out of it’s built-in location and the top lid needed to be removed to change the pump which is in front of the machine just behind the filter flip door. Very costly to replace by the way! – In addition to regularly cleaning the filter next to the drain pump, the rubber seals should also be cleaned regularly or they will develop mold/mildew.

even if you keep the door open all the time. Just FYI PRO TIPS from the Factory Trained Repair Technician who replaced the drain pump on my washer. – NEVER spin higher than MEDIUM. Spinning on HIGH or EXTRA HIGH will prematurely wear the ball bearings and the cost to replace is the same as buying a new washer.

– NEVER wash BATH MATS in this machine as they will ruin the ball bearings mentioned above. – Wash BATH TOWELS by themselves and only a maximum of 3-4 in a load. Same issue as the bath mats noted above.

BOTTOM LINE: Would I recommend this washer? Yes because it is better than my old top loader. No because the pump failed and cost a small fortune to fix and because it isn’t possible to use the machine at its supposed full capacity for larger items like bath mats and bath towels.

Electrolux – [ ] New laundry appliances got an extensive trial in 1st week handling laundry of daughter’s visiting family of four (2 adults & a 3 yr old & 5 yr old) plus Grammie & Papa. Performed flawlessly washing a variety of laundry loads during & after the visit (jeans, athletic wear, towels, outer wear, sheets, blankets, mattress toppers, etc.

). Pros: washer designed with dispensers for detergents, softener, bleach , & stain additives; stainless drum; interior light; many wash choices based on fabric and type of load; a pause feature to add a garment after wash cycle has commenced; extra features to improve cleaning such as stain soak, pure rinse, allergens.

Washer is so new that all options haven’t been tested yet but I do love the availability of special features. Cons: is a bit loud on the spin cycle; certain selections are pre-set with limits on water temperature, soil level or spin cycle.

(For example rinse and spin only allows for eco-cold water temperature. My personal preference is warm rinse water. ) At this initial point in ownership, I rate my new Electrolux washer a top- end laundry appliance well above the quality of the last three sets we’ve purchased that offers features that simplify or enhance laundry detail.

I am listing little issues below not because they should warn anyone off the product – just feedback on a few customer reactions. Overall the unit certainly seems to wash properly and has all the wash options – and more- we had on our past (other brand) unit.

I like the extra rinse option as even with proper detergent measuring some build up can occur over time especially with lots of the loads running on cold. The lighted drum is handy. The optional pedestal is a big help.

The way the back cover is formed makes it a bit limiting on how (at which angle) one can attach right angle supply hoses. The discharge hose was too short for my situation and adding an extension was a non-trivial bit of work.

I wish you supplied a longer – cut to fit – discharge hose. I was used to our old direct drive front loader which was able to rock back and forth to help release clothing after the spin cycle. So the user needs to be sure to manually spin the drum and look for items stuck on the top of the drum.

The touch panels are a bit too sensitive so if you brush against the face, like reaching above the unit for something, you can inadvertently change wash settings. I think these “buttons” should require longer contact.

One can only turn the signal chime off and on. No volume adjustment that I could find. Would be handy to have that option for those of use with reduced hearing ability.

I traded up from a 6 yr old top of the line, Electrolux washer that was in full working condition. But Electrolux has stepped up its game with special features like pre-dissolving laundry pods, and adding steam and cycles for all my needs so I upgraded to the current top model for Electrolux consumer models.

I’ve started learning about and using the new washer and I’m more amazed each time. Like my last Electrolux, you can’t beat it for stain removal with no effort, or the way that Electrolux washers take good care of your clothing.

Electrolux doesn’t just wash your clothes by throwing the kitchen sink at them. The washer just seems to know what to do, and how to do it. Plus, it’s huge for a front loader. I just washed my king-sized comforter and had no problems at all.

Consumer Reports didn’t even have this model when they crowned an LG model the king of the hill. I do laundry every single day. Trust me, this washer is worth every penny. I have a secret formula that gets almost anything out in one try.

Use Laundress original detergent, a small squirt of Laundress Stain Remover, and a few drops of Dawn (which gets out human stuff) in every wash. Don’t use Fabric softener in the washer (or dryer). In the dryer fabric softener destroys your clothes; use Wool Dryer Balls (4 to 6 depending on load size).

Finally, for static, fasten an old-fashioned metal safety pin to a clean hand towel into everyy dryer load. This dissipates any static in the dryer.

After some time in storage, and a cross country move our old cheap samsung washing machine would have taken more money than it was worth to repair it, so I quickly did some research on getting a new washer and dryer set.

I really wanted to invest in a better duo this time, and so I went with this machine and the matching dryer. We had some water pressure/pump issues in this new house so at first it was hard to gage whether it was an issue with the washing machine or just the water issues! I am happy to report that it was not the fault of the washer, and after fixing our water issues we have had no issues with the washer! I worried at first that it wouldn’t clean things well enough, since it doesn’t use as much water as I would like (at least on the normal setting) but haven’t had any issue with things not being clean and fresh so it must work! We didn’t love the quick wash setting, since it didn’t make our clothes smell fresh, but I might need to try it again after the water pressure issues are fixed, maybe it would work better this time.

The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t control the water level yourself, you just have to choose deep wash if you want it to be covered with extra water. And it took me a long time to figure out you CAN put it on just a spin cycle, without a rinse, you just have to turn the rinse button down to zero.

So, it took a while to figure it all out, but I have really loved this washer since then!.

DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER. By the time you know you hate it, it won’t be returnable. Key features at make this a nightmare: Any spin cycle will NOT release adequate water. I’ve experimented all spin cycles and your clothes are going to go into your dryer WET, you can wring them by hand better.

Anything with weight, like 4 towels, will send it walking around your laundry room. It’s a shame I can’t leave the house when doing laundry because I ALWAYS come back home to the cycle stopping due to uneven load.

So I have to reach in and more the 4 towels around. specifically placing them in the most human-ally balance attempt (then fingers crossed). SPIN SUCKS. Next is the area of adding fabric softener. The pull out drawer (that is SO cheap) is a joke, the fabric softener runs right out the back, and NO I’m not over filling.

Or no matter how softly you slide the drawer back (like I’m pushing it back with my pinky finger) the minute it is in the back position, ALL the fabric softener drops out the back. This has happened 100 times.

Next is about reaching in. I’m 5’8″ and getting to the sock at the bottom isn’t easy, I have to tippy-toe it! The next is probably the issue that is the worst. Your clothes will TWIST UP and stretch out! You will be untwisting all your clothes before putting them into the dryer (wet).

By the way, its matching dryer (gas) does not dry. I have to put it on times dry for 40 minutes. Any other timed cycle DOES NOT DRY.

My first set of matching washer and dryer. Was thrilled to get a matching set, and it is the top of the line for Maytag. However I am very disappointed with the washer. Even though the washer is a 5.

3 cubic feet it does not wash any more than my previous washer. Even on the high water setting the tube is never over half full. I had expected to wash my queen size bedspread but owner manual states you can only wash a full size bedspread.

We use more water now than previously due to the fact that if it is unbalanced it refills, agitates and attempts to spin again. I just washed 7 shirts and it has refilled three times attempting to correct balance so it could spin out.

This is not a once and a while issue either. You could never leave the washer going unattended. Another issue is the water shuts off so abruptly that our water pipe bang in the basement and you can hear it upstairs.

We have purchased and installed Water Hammer Arrestors which has helped a little but does not stop the banging entirely. Very disappointed with this top of the line Maytag washer’s performance. Very over priced at nearly $1000 for the service it provides.

My wife and i purchased this washer may 25,2020. Last weekend an error code popped up on the display and the washer would not respond. We tried the suggested unplugging and plugging back in as suggested with no luck.

Watching you tube videos and how to’s I’ve narrowed it down to the display console. Contacted maytag parts center and after 40 minutes wait time to speak to someone and another 15 minutes waiting for the gentleman to search my zip code for said part.

He was cheerful in offering me a genuine oem replacement console for only 581. 00 but assured me if we returned the old piece(of course we pay the return shipping) they would credit us back 60 dollars.

So let me see, 581. 00 part on an 850 dollar washer that’s only a year and a half old. Plus add in the fact we’ve not been totally happy with the washer from the beginning. Gets off balance very easy, barely adds water in the beginning before grinding your clothes back and forth.

Poor design, all around and unbelievable to off on replacement parts. That should have lasted more that it did in the first place. Maytag you should be ashamed of yourself. You used to be the quality standard that everyone else strived for.

Very disappointed.

Overall, it’s a decent enough washer with some tacked on “smart” app features that are pretty worthless. Pros • Top Load is easy to reach into for shorter folks than most top loads • Overall cleans clothes well enough, but we usually don’t have grass stains, etc.

• FlexDispense is nice Cons • Annoyingly loud during “agitation”. coming from a front load I guess that’s the price to pay these days? I don’t know if it’s due to not having an agitator but the motor changing direction every 2 seconds causes a “silence” then “loud sound” very similar to the GTW460 washer they have.

You can find videos on GE’s site with the sounds. If you have this in a laundry room close to a living room or kitchen be prepared to hear it during the first 15-20 minutes of the cycle. If it were a constant sound it would eventually just be “background noise” but the alternating quiet and loud is what’s annoying.

• No chime sound when cycle is done out of the box. This seems to be fixed by running the app though to update the firmware on the washer. The chime is there when it ends but it isn’t as loud as the startup sound which is disappointing.

• Smart features are pretty worthless so far. The app isn’t intuitive for this model yet for setup. You’ll likely get confused when adding it because none of the current pictures in the app show this model.

You just have to pick the top load model and the follow the instructions in the app to get an idea of holding down the button to get the wifi to be solid and then after adding the washer it gets better in the app.

It will update the firmware on the washer itself too, but it doesn’t really say why or what’s been improved or added. It does give you access to a “water dispenser” feature in the app to allow the washer to dispense water onto clothing for stain sticks or spray, but the directions on how to turn it off after dispensing water don’t work on this washer (says to just turn the cycle dial to turn off but that does nothing).

I guess the washer assumes you’ll be running a load immediately. The app won’t let you actually control much on the washer or start a cycle in it’s current app version. You can stop a cycle though. It DOES give you notifications on when a cycle is ending or finished…but again…why do I need an app for this versus an audible chime on the washer itself? Overall I give it a 3/5.

It’s good at washing clothes, but the cons are pretty annoying. Calling this a “smart” washer and charging for such is going to make tech savvy people attracted to it only to be let down. The agitation sound though is what really lowers the rating…if it were quieter during agitation it would be 4 to 4.

5 stars despite the other downfalls.

So far the washer seems to be a nice replacement for our previous washer that broke after only 6 years. This is basically the same washer, so hoping it will last longer than 6 years. First issue occurred before the delivery guys had even left my driveway.

Went to bend the drain hose to go into the drain pipe and it snapped in the accordion section of the hose. I don’t know if it was just defective or too cold or what, but showed it to the delivery guys that made note of it.

Had to go to big box store where I bought the washer to get a universal one, which the didn’t charge me for, so that was helpful. Overall seems to wash well, a bit noisier than our previous washer, but not any louder, just different mechanical noises.

Has a lot of options for washing modes. More modes on the app, if you connect the washer to your WiFi. This was a rushed purchased do to our old washer failing, I did not purchase this for it’s connected features, nor did I realize it was a connected device until I started reading the manual.

That said, I like the app, even though it didn’t function properly initially. Every time I tried to go to the Download Cycle option, the app would shut down. Tried it again a couple of days or a week later and now it has options available.

Within the app you can turn on a water stream for pre-wash/spot wash stains (I guess?) which is interesting, but you have to carry your phone around all the time to use the feature, it is not selected from the washer itself.

It has a third/forth dispenser cup call Flex Dispense, for detergent, pre-wash, extra wash stuff, but again can only be utilized through the app, so kind of useless. Also, it only has two options in the app for what’s in the Flex Dispense cup, detergent and vinegar.

There’s a search feature, but nothing I searched for ever returned a result and was therefore unselectable. I’d like to use it for either Clorox 2 or Oxi powder, but those options are not available. So more of a gimmick it seems.

I suppose you could just put either of those in there an select when you want it added, but whatever. Clothes come out a lot less tangled in this washer than our previous one, which is a big plus.

We received delivery of this front LG loading washing machine about a month ago and we couldn’t be happier. This washer meets our expectations fir a family of 4 who washes large loads at a time. The machine is very quiet, even during spin mode and we have no issues with load balancing.

The wash time is also very good. a medium load finishes in under 30 minutes and a large load in under an hour (the load sensing sets the washing times). We have washed 2 large blankets and sheets in one wash and we choose the bedding cycle.

The wash time is under an hour and we have no issues with the large load. Each time our clothes come out very clean. BTW, we use detergent pods and no matter the load size, we use only one pod thus saving us on detergent.

Bottom line is we are very happy with this machine. Me made an excellent pick. I want to add: This front loader replaced a new LG high efficiency smart top loader with turbowash. We first purchased the LG top loader with an impeller, WT7800CW, and used if for about 2 weeks.

They were 2 very unhappy weeks. This washer had constant balancing issues, used enormous amounts of water ( 3 full water loads per wash to “fix” the balancing issues), The spin cycle was ridiculous as each spin left clothes dripping wet, thus the double spin cycles.

And finally at the start of a wash, the water fill would trickle the width of a pencil and would take a very longtime to fill the drum causing a shut down due to the long timing. I returned this machine and replaced it with this front washer and we are happy now!.

We got this washer and dryer set from LG as a matching pair. They are very attractive in our recently remodeled laundry room. First the positives: Both seem to be extra efficient at washing and drying clothes compared to our previous models, which included a top load washer.

My wife was extremely skeptical of the front load machines due to misinformation floating on the grapevine. However, she has since fallen in love with the concept. The wifi feature which when connected allows the dryer to suggest a setting based on the previous washer load which can remove the guess work.

When programed correctly the washer and dryer can not only notify you of a completed cycle and both units can be remotely started. The ability to download other cycles is a bonus. We would highly recommend purchasing the pedestals.

Now for the negatives: The units without the pedestals can be somewhat low for those with physical limitations. The wifi and pairing is not very user friendly and should improved including notifications and the remote start feature.

Also, the inability to download more one additional cycle at a time is inconvenient. If the washer’s door is not allowed to dry after a cycle, mold, mildew, and odors may form. Overall these units are highly recommended by both my wife and myself.

For 12 years we owned a top load HE washer, and we were very satisfied with its performance. The problem was that we were not able to wash large bulky items, and wash load maxed at 3. 8 cu ft. So, it took a couple of wash loads to complete a large wash load.

After 12 years the washer started to make groaning sounds and the diagnosis was terminal. A trip to P. C. Richard’s solved our problem. We purchased the LG ThinQ 5 cu ft frontload washer. I’ve waited for over a month to do this review, to make sure that I’ve had ample time to try everything out to make sure this LG lived up to its ratings and our satisfaction.

I will start with the only negative missing feature that we were used to and loved. It was a dispenser cup for Oxy clean agent. Until we get used to adding it to the drum before you load the clothes, we had many washes go without.

Again, this is the only negative. Our habits will change. Where do I start with all the positives? I guess the first is the drum capacity. HUGE. We can’t believe how much this washer holds. We have done everything from large comforters to very small loads.

By the way I learned to download a SMALL LOAD cycle and used it as an added wash cycle. How cool is that. We have used the various programmed cycles, including TUB CLEAN without a hitch, all with outstanding performance.

With a washer this size and the spin speeds, I had expected to hear quite a bit of noise and vibration. The quietness and balance capability of this washer is amazing. I’m in the next room and can barely hear the washer in operation.

What is neat is the song that the washer plays at the end of the wash cycle. Here is a tip, I found that when it comes to cleaning the filter, I put the drain hose into a1liter bottle. this held the hose down and the bottle on its side will hold the amount of water coming out.

With the LG app on my phone, I always know where we are in the cycle, what cycle is in use and when the wash is done. I also get a report of use and a check on all systems from water hook ups to cleaning of washer.

I purchased a synthetic chamois to wipe down the inner door glass, rubber seal around the drum, to remove moister and anything else that might be there. I also remove the soap dispenser and dump any remaining water out and clean any soap or fabric softener that might be left on the sides of the trays and then leave it open as well as the door.

So far, no orders and I hope this maintenance will prevent any in the future. As of this review, I am 5 stars satisfied, extremely happy with the operation and capacity of this LG washer. It has made a HUGE Difference in our lives.

I do not hesitate to recommend this LG Washer to anybody looking for a good looking, Huge Capacity, energy efficient, more than enough cycles to satisfy, and its quiet operation.

From day one I got the 1LC1 code. Took service center a week to send a technician. When he showed up he took it apart found the hose was broken he had to order it. Second technician showed up not with all of the parts need for the job.

He came back next day after i complained. A t- connector broke and again had to wait for a part. At this point it has been three weeks from when my son bought it and gave it to my wife for Christmas.

Finally they fixed the leak. Well I thought so the two days later my wife slipped because again 1LC1 leak code. Turn out the top washer seal is the one leaking. Wife is still hurt from the slip. I have been trying to get hold of someone in Samsung to give me approval for full refund since Best Buy won’t.

and they transfer me from one department to another that has from 1-2 hour holds wait times. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. If I could give negative reviews I would but I had to put one.

Don’t buy unless you are ready for a disappointment and you have a home warranty that will fix it. If you buy this washer keep you old one so when it brakes you have a washer that works to wash and by the time technician get it fixed right.

I love how this washing machine has made washing clothes up to 25% more efficient and quicker. What do I mean by that? The top loading bay has allowed me to wash the weights which aren’t as much as the colored clothing at the same time with a finishing window of about 15 to 20 minutes, therefore allowing me to dry the whites almost completely before the colored clothing is complete.

The smart technology is definitely lackluster because of Samsung, and they’re in ability to optimize, so I personally would not buy it for this reason alone, which was one of my main reasons, but after realizing the efficiency of the washing cycle utility that this machine has brought to mind house to do list workflow I will same.

It only takes one star off my review. Once you utilize this double intake machine which has enough room to put full-size king bed blankets, inside of it, not the top section, but the main drum you will not feel normal using a normal washer anymore.

Overall, endless problems, from leaking, 3 motherboards, draining detergent and softener before wash started, and now extremely load when spinning. Thankfully we purchased the Best Buy warranty because we had repair technicians from Geek Squad at our home on a regular basis for almost two years.

It would work okay and then start having issues once again, and the problem of it releasing the detergent and softener was never fixed. After two years of calling and getting it fixed we finally got a replacement credit and we are not getting another Samsung.

Samsungs are decent but get a regular front or top loading washer and don’t buy these flex wash ones, they need to fix their design flaws and make it actually work. Might have have been a lemon but it was not worth it whatsoever.

Have had this about a month and it seems to be working well. The tub is nice and deep and the interface seems less fussy and complex than other units. As someone who is used to washers from the 80s and 90s it is still hard to see so little water in the tub and not a ton of suds.

I know that is the way they all are now, but I’m still not convinced that everything is getting wet and clean. If you use scent beads, note that you may find some don’t dissolve in this model. Seems to be when the washer is spinning at the beginning during its ‘analysis’ cycle the beads will rise up and stick to the sides of the drum.

You do have deep water wash options, but even then it doesn’t fill up all the way. Overall I think it is working fine, but it is an adjustment to modern, water conserving models. I thought the Wi-Fi and App on the phone feature was silly at first, but it is kind of nice to get a notification on your phone when the cycle is done.

It will also notify you if the cycle stops due to an unbalanced load. Also keeps track of when to run the Tub Clean cycle for you. These turned out to be nicer features than I initially thought.

I was replacing an old washer that was in the house I bought. The old washer would go off balance constantly and sounded like an earthquake. My previous house also had an old model that shook and banged when you used it.

When I decided to upgrade to this one with a much larger capacity, impeller instead of agitator, and all the bells and whistles with wifi and whatnot, I was not familiar with more modern washers. I was so used to old crappy washers that I kept going to check that this new one was actually working because it was SO quiet! I love the ability to download wash cycles that aren’t prebuilt into the washer.

I love the app that tells you when your wash is done. I LOVE the capacity since I wash a lot of large blankets covered in pet hair. I hope this washer is sturdy and lasts a long time, because it’s pretty much perfect.

This is a no frills washer. But who needs 10-12 different settings/cycles anyway? I’m coming from a front load and swore a few years ago I would never have another, primarily due to the mold/smelly issue.

Althoug I loved every thing else about it. This washer, with agitator, is a completely different animal. It does not clean as well as the front load. And the clothes come out way more wrinkled. And it goes off balance super easy.

I’m careful how I load items in the washer so it’s not me causing the problem. It should be able to handle a king size blanket. Not comforter but a cotton blanket. This washer is big! But it was having issues trying to spin.

Instead of shutting down with an error code it just kept refilling again and again. I hate to think of the wasted water. Finally I realized something wasn’t right and redistributed the blanket and then it spinned.

Same thing happened with a small rug. I even put in a large beach towel with it knowing it would not be happy. And sure enough it could not spin and kept refilling. No error code. I did everything I could but ended up having to take both items out, dripping wet, and hung them outside to dry.

Another very irritating thing is there is no hot water option for speed wash. Why? This makes no sense and is something I seriously miss. And as most people are saying, this washer, and most other top loads these days, does not give you enough water to cover the clothes! This washer does have a deep fill option however it will only work on certain cycles.

Forget using the normal cycle, which would probably be the most used setting by most people, as the deep fill option is not available. And without it the items are not in enough water to be covered. I still have time to return.

Just need to figure out what to buy.
