Wow (John Wayne) in Jet Pilot and (Audie Murphy) in To Hell and Back and (Richard Burton) in Raid on Rommel are truly vintage war movies! Wake Island is the next movie from this collection that I’ll be watching.

It’s a blast from the past! Thanks for an excellent price for a great collection of movies.

It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. My husband watched all of the collection but I stopped after watching only one of the movies. Wouldn’t watch it again and certainly wouldn’t have bought it had I known it was, well, let’s just say.

not as good as expected. Glad I didn’t pay too much for it.

I am very pleased with these DVD’s. That one Lady who gave it a 1 Star must not like old war movies. My wife and I are very pleased with this movie and the Seller Guru.

Another amazing job by Ken Burns to put this series together. I’ve learned a lot about this awful war that I didn’t know before; not only historical facts, but also the brutality, and how soldiers from all countries involved suffered agonizing pain, starvation, and death.

My only “disappointment” was the series failed to show the particular battle in France that my uncle was killed. But then the war was so comprehensive that it would be impossible to show everything, even within the six DVDs provided.

It certainly gave a sobering view of just how terrible war is, and the danger of what can happen when power is carried to an extreme when those in command want to rule the world.

It`s very fascinating journey as told by people who experienced the pain and frustration of the Second World War. I could write a book about my feelings towards this video collection. What is funny is that I`m not even finished with watching all of it.

I`m very touched and the film footage was spectacular! To those that have not purchased this set,you will want this in your collection. Worth having.

Since we have forgotten that history matters, maybe documentary’s such as this are part of the solution. Most anything produced by Ken Burns would be a valuable addition to ones library.

Marvel has done quite a few versions of Punisher for movies, TV, and cartoons. but THIS is the first one that REALLY NAILED THE CHARACTER!!! Ok yeah, I LOVED the cable series – except at the season end.

he LET himself get beaten to a pulp just to get some bad guys arrested. THAT IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE IF HOW PUNISHER OPERATES AND WHAT HE REPRESENTS!!! So the series was GOOD, but tripped over it’s own feet at the end smh.

But THIS MOVIE – YEAH, NOW (THIS) IS THE PUNISHER!! I’d actually seen it many years ago at the theater and remember liking it – that’s what made me buy it. But watching it again TODAY – AT HOME – IN 4K – WITH A LAP FULLA PIZZA!! 😛 WAYYYY BETTER THAN I REMEMBER IT!! If you like Punisher, THIS is the one to get!! :-).

As good as the Thomas Jane version was, this should have been the blueprint for the Punisher films. The Netflix version was great also, but came much later. 4K is very good, audio is really good!

This release of Punisher: War Zone 4K is awesome. Lionsgate brings us excellent video quality and amazing audio quality with a Dolby ATMOS track that is FULL of ENERGY. The dynamic sound range is INCREDIBLE and sounds INCREDIBLE on my surround sound home theater ATMOS system.

Highly enjoyed this action flick and am really enjoying the quality that Lionsgate is bringing to the table for home media releases. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!.

If it has happened; then, it can happen. And, if it could happen then and there; then, it can happen HERE and NOW. In some ways, the documentary: The World at War is about once upon a time called RIGHT NOW except, the weapons werent as good; and, the climate wasnt threatened by global warming.

As you watch The World at War, start a checklist of the countries involved; the description of the political conflicts; and the resources being fought for; and, if it doesnt make you need to change your underwear; then you just werent paying attention.

One legacy of WW2 is an aphorism often attributed to Albert Einstein which essentially says that based on the technological terror crafted in World War 2; World War 3 would be fought with nuclear weapons.

And, the next war waged would be be by people using rocks and clubs. I hope he was wrong. Watch this documentary and reflect on today. Those who dont know their history may live to fight a war with rocks and clubs.

If it has happened; then, it can happen. And, if it could happen then and there; then, it can happen HERE and NOW. Watch, study, and enjoy this documentary. This WAS who we were. Have we changed?.

I have wanted to watch this series for many years. Finally took the plunge. Totally worth the price and trouble. This series is unbelievable. You will not believe the work and the craftsmanship that went into it.

It is one of the best series I have ever seen.

The World at War series is an amazing and comprehensive documentary. It covers the history of WWII from the causes of the 1920s to the aftermath of the Cold War and into the 1950s. The personal interviews and stories very much bring home the impact of the war on individual human beings (soldiers and civilians).

WWII also was the first world war to impact civilians to a very large degree (loss of life, property, psychologically, etc. ) and still has reverberations to this day and continues to impact current day societies.

Approximately 45 years on and it is still one of the most definitive, touching, and thought provoking documentaries on WWII. Lest we never forget the World at War.

Great movies. I enjoyed watching these. Reminded me of time spent with my dad.

This is not an Instawatch title as advertised. I’ve been dealing with VUDU to fix the issue. Walmart won’t help.

Midway collection of war movies. The great stories of the men and women fighting for a great nation

The best it has ever looked. Nice improvements from the shout factory blu ray earlier release. A nice presentation from a low budget film. Great story with gruesome werewolves!

This item is listed as a Steelbook, but is actually just a standard 4K UDH plastic case with a slipcover. The film itself is great, but I was expecting the packaging format that was listed.

This movie has a real quiet sleeper of a horror film. If you are into the monster genre then you should like this one. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.

If you’re not interested in horses or World War One, you will not enjoy this film. Otherwise, this is one of the best films I’ve seen recently. The personality of the horse, Joey, is magnetic. You can understand his thoughts and his relationships with people and other horses, even though the film does not (thankfully!) resort to having Joey speak or think out loud in English.

The first half of the film reminded me of BLACK BEAUTY — a nostalgic horse story in the English countryside. This makes it all the more jolting when the second half slams you into the war. Suddenly, it’s SAVING PRIVATE RYAN! Horses as well as people are killed; it’s not gory, but may still be disturbing to children or sensitive adults.

When Joey gets tangled in barbed wire, I couldn’t help wondering if actual horses WERE harmed in the making of this movie! A stellar film for those mature enough to accept the harsh reality of war.

I love the movie I gave it a 5. But the case inside that holds the dvd from moving in the case was broken. Very glad the dvd is ok, not scratched up. either the place where the movie came from they need to check the inside to make sure the dvd holder is not broken, reseal it to ship.

Or something. I lost count of how many dvd cases were broken inside Holding the dvd movie I place so it wont get scratched up.

I got this movie for a particular actor and found myself unable to stop watching. From beginning to end, it is riveting. This really has open my eyes to the wonders of a great movie.

The zombie movie of the year for 2013 and it still holds up as quite an action paced flick. I think Brad did a great job for his role and in fact, the cast did as well. There were no slow spots in this movie and if you are a horror fan, I think you will like this one.

A ravaging virus has taken control of the Earth’s population with tragic results, but Brad Pitt, who is one of the main characters, discovers it’s weakness and must battle them to get to a cure of sorts.

The package is good, we get the Unrated version on Blu-ray with a great menu, the DVD copy of it, and a Digital version. Find a good price for this one, folks. I got it for $4. 99.

Pretty entertaining despite some silly tropes and overall corn. As a fan of the WWZ book, I can’t say this film is perfect. However, I can tell you the movie delivers in blockbuster fashion an entertaining zombie film.

Sometimes you lament when Hollywood gets a hold of fan favorite IP, but other times you can be happy they at least tried. Supposedly has a sequel coming some day? I will watch that too for sure.

World War Z is Brad Pitt’s zombie epic about the spread of a virus that turns people into the undead, but instead of walking they sprint and create chaos with every step. Pitt plays Gerry Lane, a former UN investigator who is called into action by an old friend when the human race is on the brink of extinction.

While he risks his life to look for a cure, his family (with his wife Karin played by the incredible Mireille Enos) is on a US Navy Carrier out at sea. Nations fall, people turn on each other, and it seems all is lost.

But, this is not the case as Gerry begins piecing together clues and starts a search that will change everything, leading to the “war. ” WWZ is a truly impressive movie, especially considering it’s a PG-13 zombie movie.

While I do like the gore in a zombie film, this movie proved you don’t need it. The zombies were frightening, the realistic science was there, warfare is taken into account, and overall it just felt like what would really happen if the zombie apocalypse happened.

Marc Forster’s directing was superb, showcasing both the epic scale of a global panic and war, while showing us the smaller battles and struggles that are happening everywhere else. This movie has the perfect transition, going from the massive blockbuster to a classic zombie movie setting.

When it comes to acting, it was great. There were only two moments where the dialogue didn’t quite match (when Gerry talks to Warmbrunn about the wall in Jerusalem), and even though there won’t be any Awards the acting was still great.

The visuals were happily polished, being more realistic, especially having both CG and practical zombies, with amazing make-up. You can see my review of the musical score on the soundtrack’s page (by Marco Beltrami).

But then there is the cinematography. Words cannot describe how impressive it was to see all the locations and sites, especially Jerusalem. Plus, this is only the start. WWZ kick-starts what should and can be a trilogy, just showing us the outbreak, spread and beginning struggles with the undead.

There is so much more to come. World War Z is not for everyone, but anyone who appreciates well-made action movies, a thrilling epic, or some good freak-out moments, this is your treat.

One of my fave movies! Already had the BluRay disc but got lost in our move. Surprisingly as old as the film is now, its still a rental only online. Found what was listed as a new disc for little $ and bought it.

My one complaint which may be due more to the advances in HD tv as we have a brand new state of the art 75 Screen is that the night scenes where there are street lights or any bright light the lights all have a fuzzy halo around them.

Also a few rapid motion scenes get a little jumpy. Is it due to a poor quality disc, level of hi tech back then or what? Sound track was fine. Overall the movie is well presented. My guess is that even tho its listed as new its a clone of the original disc.

But for $7 Im not really complaining.

Another Everyman Tom Cruise movie with some good special effects and CGI. The sense of family fills this film with more jeopardy and sustained suspense than usual, and a few scenes can be genuinely upsetting; so, not particularly good for young or impressionable children.

War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise, is a great sci-fi flick (Blu Ray). Without giving away too much about plot, Aliens come from the ground through lightning strikes in their pods. The Aliens are looking to take over the world and destroy humanity in the process.

Special effects were excellent and the story moved along quickly. The film is well acted and exciting through moments of tension. War of the Worlds would be an excellent addition to any movie collection.

This is an amazing 4K restoration. The restoration is approved by director Sam Raimi, the director of photography Bill Pope and editor Bob Murawski. The audio is DTS-HD 5. 1, 2. 0 tracks. It comes with lots of extras including feature length making of documentary “Medieval Times:The Making of Army of Darkness.

This documentary includes several interviews including star and co-producer Bruce Campbell. You’ll also get to see the original ending and a alternate opening with optional commentary. The extras also include deleted scenes, t.

v spots and the theatrical trailer. The set also includes a 4K restoration of the theatrical cut with behind the scenes footage, a making of featurette and several interviews from the cast and crew. You also get the International cut with additional footage (in standard definition) with tons of extras including “The Men Behind the Army”-vintage featurette.

This is probably one of the most beautiful steelbooks ever created! The artwork on both the outside and inside is outstanding! If you’re a collector like myself, this is an ABSOLUTE must have for your collection! On top of that, this is a 4 disc set which brings with it several different versions of the film (the theatrical cut, the director’s cut, an international cut and a television cut).

Overall, this is definitely worth the $32 – $35 price point. pick it up. PICK IT UP!!!.

Just Brilliant! All the different versions of the film, bonus content, and a cool case for the shelf! The only downside is they didn’t include the digital copy. That seems like a huge misstep considering all the other 4k steelbooks i buy have the DC included.

Plus the price point they should include that.

This series, while entertaining, provides a historical perspective to the Second World War like no other film that I have witnessed. War and Remembrance is second only to The World at War, a documentary of the entire war.

This film should be required viewing for all who hold history of conflicts to necessary for learning from human error. Usually, after having read the book prior to viewing the film one will usually find that the book portrayed the story in greater detail, however, in this instance I found the film as every bit as accurate and entertaining as the written word.

Great Epic Story (about World War 2 events) called “The Winds of War” (miniseries) with the second and third (final) segments of the story continued in this miniseries called “War and Remembrance”. Great acting by Robert Mitchum, Jane Seymour, John Gielgud, and a LOT of Hollywood Stars including a young Sharon Stone.

Writing was great from Herman Wouk’s two epic novels and Cinematography is great, too. These DVDs are Standard Definition (720×480) 4:3 Aspect Ratio [normal for 1980’s vintage Broadcast TV}]. The video and audio quality on the disks are excellent, and I would highly recommend both miniseries for a weekend or two of “Binge Watching”.

I remember watching each & every episode of WINDS OF WAR when it debuted on ABC back in the early 1980’s. I was ecstatic when I learned that the sequel, WAR & REMEMBRANCE, was to go into production. What I didn’t know was that I would end up in the movie!!! In 1987, I was stationed aboard USS NEW JERSEY (BB-62) as Repair Division CPO.

The production crew was aboard for several days shooting scenes. I was supervising the maintenance of a fire station in the vicinity of gun turret #2 when I was captured in a scene on the main deck in DVD #10 of this series.

This series is a Great Value, because of how it makes your soul feel. which is priceless! The complex nature of the story, combined with the diverse cast, make it appeal to a very large demographic. I was skeptical at first with the casting changes from Winds of War, but fell in love with the replacements as the series rolled along.

The research for this series was handled spectacularly. The winding of these characters into history was masterfully done. I rate this series right up there at the top with all-time classics such as YANKEE DOODLE DANDY, starring James Cagney.

That is hallowed ground!.

“Avengers: Infinity War” is excellent. This is how the story goes: As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos.

A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

The cast led by Robert Downey Jr. (excellent as usual as Tony Stark / Iron Man) is excellent. The directing by Joe & Anthony Russo is excellent. The screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely is excellent.

The music by Alan Silvestri is excellent. The cinematography by Trent Opaloch is excellent. The film editing by Jeffrey Ford & Matthew Schmidt is excellent. The casting by Sarah Halley Finn is excellent.

This is an excellent, well-crafted and entertaining movie that is well-made. Robert Downey Jr. is excellent as usual as Tony Stark, and his supporting cast, led by Chris Hemsworth (as Thor), Mark Ruffalo (as Bruce Banner / Hulk), Chris Evans (as Steve Rogers / Captain America) & Scarlett Johansson (as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow) is just as excellent and solid as he is.

Joe & Anthony Russo has directed another excellent movie in the MCU. This is (or was) one of the best movies of spring 2018 and is also one of the best movies of the year, so far.

This movie is the darkest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and the most epic in terms of scope and the threat that harms the world. This movie is not only a great movie, but a monumental achievement and testament to Marvel’s ability to realize its incredible vision.

After 10 years and 19 movies Marvel has clearly shown that they know how to bring in hardcore and casual fans to the movies to see heroes dressed up in tights and saving the world. If you have been following this series and have watched most to all of the previous 18 MCU, this is a very satisfying payoff movie as it follows most of the heroes in the MCU.

The Russos really outdid themselves, and through incredible editing and story telling they managed to tell a cohesive story that juggled numerous characters. Though there were so many characters in this movie, the movie gave most of the characters great moments.

The standouts were probably Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and Josh Brolin as Thanos. You believed their relationship as daughter and father respectively and you felt the emotional consequences of their relationship and what that relationship entailed.

This was also Thanos’ movie. He is without a doubt, my favorite villain in the MCU now and he is up there with Jordan’s Killmonger, Hiddleston’s Loki, and Keaton’s Vulture. Brolin exudes such confidence, ferocity, and charisma in his performance that he sells the fact that he really believes what he is doing is right no matter how evil he seemed.

I actually found myself agreeing with some of Thanos’ reasonings at some points of the movie. This was an unconventional narrative driven movie. It truly stands as a monument to Marvel’s ability to deliver a different and unconventional comic book movie experience, and many studios will come to look at this as a paragon of how to do a payoff movie in a series.

Many may even compare this to “Lord of the Rings: Two Towers” (2002), or “Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back” (1980) in its structure, but I believe this movie even stands apart from those movies. The only drawbacks that I saw was the fact that if this was your first MCU movie you will have no idea who the characters were and will be lost when watching this movie.

Also, because there are so many characters in the movie some major characters don’t get a chance to show up and get more moments, but I expected this going in. Truly, not only a great comic book movie, but an incredible movie watching experience.

The previous Avengers films were good, but I often felt there were so many characters vying for screen time that they couldn’t develop any individual’s story line very much. There was a lot of action in these movies, but not very much character development.

So, I wasn’t expecting to LOVE this movie as much as I did! It still had a lot of characters (even added the “Guardians of the Galaxy” characters, who I love, to the mix), but, somehow, even with all the characters, I got such a massively enjoyable kick out of this one that I went ahead and purchased it on 4K UHD bluray.

The 4K presentation is very good, too. The HDR adds the extra “pop” to the picture that it should. The REC2020 color even raises the color rendition up a notch. The sound is also good (although nothing memorable actually blew me away about it).

If you are a fan of “The Avengers” do not miss this film! Do keep in mind, though, that it is actually part one of the story so you will be left on a cliffhanger note at the end (this first filmed part of the story and the upcoming second film were shot back to back, which should keep the continuity between the two films absolutely spot-on).

This is my very favorite Avengers movie to date and I’m looking very much forward to seeing the next one when it comes out (can’t wait to see how the story concludes!). If you are a superhero movie fan–or only an Avengers fan–do not miss this film! I repeat: Do not miss this film!.

The Art of War is the first action movie with a hero who works for the United Nations–the U. N. Covert Operations Unit, to be specific. Who knew there was such a thing? Wesley Snipes plays Shaw, their top operative, who’s unafraid of dropping several stories from one ledge of a skyscraper to another.

When the Chinese ambassador is assassinated, it threatens the stability of an impending trade agreement that the secretary-general (played by Donald Sutherland) has worked so hard to achieve. Shaw gets arrested for the assassination, but who’s really responsible? Is it the wily Chinese capitalist? A seemingly affable FBI agent? Only a lovely U.

N. interpreter (Marie Matiko) believes he’s innocent, especially when someone tries to knock her off and Shaw is the only person she can turn to. well, you get the idea. The script is neither original nor comprehensible, but that’s not why you’d want to watch a movie like The Art of War–it’s the action.

And the action is pretty good, particularly earlier on when the confusions of the plot don’t matter as much. Michael Biehn (The Terminator, The Rock) does a serviceable job as one of Shaw’s associates, Anne Archer (Fatal Attraction, Clear and Present Danger) tries to seem complicated as the head of the Covert Operations Unit, and Maury Chaykin (The Mask of Zorro, Devil in a Blue Dress) is dependable as ever as the FBI guy.

While on assignment during a UN trade meeting, the Ambassador to China is suddenly killed by an assassin’s bullet. Unable to speak of his true identity, top agent Neil Shaw has been set-up for the murder and on the run to prove his innocence.

I enjoyed this DVD and believe it is one of the best Wesley Snipes’ movies he’s made to date. The interesting story line and character acting combined with a lot of action scenes throughout the movie kept my attention from beginning to end.

I won’t ruin the movie for others by giving away the specific story details; but, I will say that it is a story about a “war” from a different angle than I expected to see when I purchased the DVD with no advance knowledge of the storyline.

If you are a fan of Wesley Snipes movies or a fan of action movies of any kind, I highly recommend this DVD. You will not be disappointed if you purchase it.

One of my favorite movies Wesley Snipes has done. Always wanted this movie since the first time I saw it. I like the female actress in the movie (do not know her name). Action was great and the twists and turns were great too.

1917 is an excellent move. The cinatopgraphy was excellent. I also bought Once upon a time in Holly. I really enjoyed. You have excellent service, value for my dollar, and the movies are currrent. I have only bought new movies from you.

“1917” definitely keeps the viewer engaged throughout the movie. Similar to “Saving Private Ryan,” the story follows two characters on a mission, and the artistry of the performance keeps the viewer on the edge of his or her seat.

I had the pleasure of seeing the movie on the big screen, which added to the intensity, but even on the smaller screen, “1917” delivers!.

I saw this movie in theaters when it came out and had to have it on DVD. It is visually stunning and a very fascinating story. George MacKay is fantastic and there are several cameos by very famous British actors (Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, etc.

) Lots of violence and some gory moments so if that bothers you, this is probably not for you.

Begin with the steelbook- if you’re a collector of the steels due to the often much better art, the beauty of steel & often display these “faced forward” so visitors will have their eyes caught & begin conversations as a way to introduce new movies to them; Punisher: War Zone will do that, especially with sweet clear red plastic slip overlaid the steel.

Just a gorgeous job. The movie itself is kind of all over the place with the actors involved, and unfortunately, Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle/ Punisher is one of the weakest involved, with a monotone delivery throughout, struggling with the scenes that require emotional depth of a character wracked with grief- not bringing back Thomas Jane was a real miss here.

The other issue is that there’s almost two movies in play- when we get to the big bads & one particular group of parkour loving henchmen, they play their roles almost cartoonishly- not necessarily a bad thing, in and of itself- but a stark contrast to (outside one comic relief officer & Wayne Knight as Micro being semi-comic relief.

think of his role in Jurassic Park & you’ll get an idea of the “everyman” with a funnybone) all the “good guys” who all play their roles straight & all have major sources of loss in their life, and you have a tone that’s just sort of jumping around scene by scene.

It’s not all bad, it’s just a weird shift that plays out almost at every change of scene within PWZ. The good? The VERY GOOD? Oboy does PWZ NAIL the chaos & violence that Punisher causes every time he’s unleashed.

Where the original, Thomas Jane-led film played almost reserved in its violence, no punches are pulled in War Zone, with graphic depictions & lingering camera shots. In THIS regard, Punisher fans will be happy.

War Zone is a wild, loud, bombastic ride that’s sure to leave smiles on faces of Punisher fans, even if it feels, at times, like there were two different films made and spliced together for one product.

It may have two different voices speaking, but they’re both screaming, and the result is. a War Zone.

Hot take, but this is the single greatest Punisher movie of all times. It is the most comic book accurate Punisher out of all 3, and the director was allowed to make a brutal, funny, no holds barred Punisher movie that the fans of Garth Ennis’ Punisher wanted.

Ray Stevenson is the perfect Punisher and Jigsaw was a great comedic villain. They dont make Marvel movies like this anymore. BRING BACK MARVEL KNIGHTS imprint. As for the steelbook, the artwork is excellent minus they included the incorrect skull.

The Punisher War Zone, is the sequel to The Punisher that starred Thomas Jane. War Zone stars Ray Stevenson as the Punisher and boy does he dole out the punishment! If you want entertaining, brutally violent action, then this is your movie.

This is a great movie with surprisingly good acting and wonderful scenery. Some of the archery feats may be exaggerated, but many are historically accurate.

Very good Korean movie. My wife is Korean and she loved it from it’s historical value. It does have English subtitles. A tad slow in the beginning but the action scenes are very good. You will need a bowl of kimchi while watching this movie.

Great acting, wonderful skill of the actors who shot with the bow and arrows

This movie shows how an enemy does not give up when there is still something to fight with in wartime even though it may be a losing cause. The current youth and possibly others within the USA should take time to watch this movie to show why freedom is worth fighting for instead of being greedy for all their wants without destruction.

War is bad for all sides for the innocents.

One of the last of the old-school epic WWII films, this tells the true story of Germany’s last major offense of the war, and does a great job telling it. There are some big actors in this one with Robert Shaw, Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda as standouts.

The supplemental material here is really good too.

Great old fashioned war movie. Story line is great, and Fonda is his usual excellent self. Don’t look for 2020 special effects.

As a Vietnam veteran I could identify with much of the movie having been involved in similar battles as portrayed in the movie. I brought back happy memories of the camaraderie I had with fellow grunts, and sad memories of friends lost during battle.

If anyone wants to really know what it was like in Vietnam from a soldiers point of view, this movie will take you there. Lots of realistic fighting scenes. If you like fighting warriors, then you’ll like this movie.

It sold at a great price. I especially recommend this movie for veterans to show their families to help them to understand.

You probably may be wishing to learn about the sacrifice and pain that others have gone through in the name of freedom. This movie will put many things into perspective about the time honored truths about the futility of war and how it has shaped so many lives.

Oliver Stone was the director of this film. However, you may not have known that Oliver Stone actually served our country in Vietnam. Not only that, but received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart during his tours of duty.

How best to honor the fallen men, women, children, and MIAs and POWs of this great conflict. Oliver Stone wanted to make a film that embodied the undeniable irony of the total futility of this war through the eyes of Chris (Charlie Sheen).

In doing so, he captured the pure essence of innocence turned into terror. No one man can totally encapsulate a feeling of this war better than Oliver Stone. Everyone needs to see this movie and its historical value in the context of other great moments in history.

I met a veteran of Korea and Vietnam the other day. He was 77. He told me much about his time there. Lucky him. Look, Listen, and Live respecting these last remnants of foreign wars. I loved my Grandfather so much when he would tell me his WWII stories, and sometimes it would take him a very long time to GET several words out in a row.

PLATOON has won the right to be in the top 100 films of The American Film Institute standing on its own at # 83. This film has a very strong adult content and is not for everyone in the family, however I will say that it will always be a part of my history.

This film should be required viewing for each and every young lad and lass during their junior year of high school. EACH and EVERY! They need to know there is nothing glamorous when it comes to war. NOTHING! And this film is excellent in its message.

It’s my belief that this is a modern classic. Is it the greatest movie? No. But does it still hold up? Yes. Seeing this now as a parent makes the theme of letting go vs protecting your loved ones hit different.

The post 9/11 sentiment still works however the ending still leaves something to be desired. Picture-wise this movie is very grainy yet detailed, dark and yet very bright at times – definitely better than the DVD but not by as much as I would’ve liked.

Sound-wise I love this track – Dolby Atmos is immersive but slightly thinner on bass than I remember.

My favourite movie of all time, I have seen it so much I can quote the whole movie and Tom cruise again doesn’t play his character he becomes it. It starts off a little slow at the start but it’s a journey of maverick and his love story with Charlie and how he lives his life and when goose dies that’s when everything starts to go up a bunch and your on the edge of your seat of how maverick will return after losing his co pilot and best friend and learn to just go on.

After the ending with the dogfight it’s so heart warming when him and iceman make up and they all hug it out. Then at the end Charlie plays you’ve lost that loving feeling easily best song in the movie maybe danger zone or take my breath away is in their, but anyways they talk about how he crashed and burned on the first and how the second is looking good so far just like when they first met in the bar and then the music at the end with all the cast and I miss goose every time I watch this movie, but it was almost needed for maverick to reach his full potential and I can’t wait for Top Gun 2 to come out I am so hyped for it and if you haven’t seen this movie or you don’t like it then you really need to rethink your life because this movie has changed my life and is my favourite movie of all time by far not even a change with anything else.

Finally, the way maverick is with his cockiness is his personality and when he learns how to be a great pilot and a humble man is the great part about the movie. They want you to know that no matter what obstacles you face in life, you will have people to support you even if you don’t believe so and you will get through any hard time because you are not the first person to ever face that hardship.

I saw this in the movies when it was first released and thought it was great fun! Although my DVD copy looked good on our old television, it didn’t stand up so well to the test of our new 4K Samsung.

I had put off buying the blu-ray version because all the reviews I read were mediocre at best. I’m happy to say that the 4K edition of this film was well worth the wait. Also, we checked out the blu-ray that came packaged with the 4K version and the reviews were correct.

lots of glowing and halos around whites and sunlit areas, loss of detail in shadows, etc. The 4K version is sharp and has great texture, color, etc. In all honesty, this is NOT a reference quality video presentation so don’t put it in your player and expect it to look like Ready Player One.

But of the three versions I’ve seen, the 4K is definitely the best War of the Worlds has ever looked!.
