with 10 movies of course you will like some more than others but this is a good mixture. you dont get bored. if you like the past stars you will get a blessing. this is one I will keep and watch over and over.

Excellent DVD of war movies. Any War Movie Buff would be happy with. I enjoyed all of the movies. I cannot say anything bad about this product. Some of the movies I would enjoy watching more than once.

Another great movie by BDP, Sean Penn and Michael J. Fox deliver some of their best work. Movie also includes Ving Rhames, John C. Reilly, and John Leguizamo. Based on actual events, Casualties of War is a must see for those whom love war movies and those that just love a great movie.

This is absolutely a excellent movie. It teaches you how important prayer is and the fact we all have problems. This movie teaches you that God is so concerned about every detail of our lives. We must seek him and pray about everything.

Prayer is part of how you build your relationship with Christ. God does answer our prayers!! I have watched this movie over and over and I have been blessed every time. I like how the elderly lady in the movie continued to encourage the younger woman to pray about her problems and I also liked when the married woman came back and shared with the older woman several times how God had worked things out and answered her prayers.

This movie was very touching when even the husband , reconnected with God and he realized how merciful God is and forgiving God is. The husband even noticed how the wife was willing to forgive him and fight for her marriage.

The wife’s desire was to please God first. Excellent movie!.

The movie is about the way a person, persons, and or family should live their lives daily! People (Christians) should have enough faith to believe that God still answers prayer even more so today. A lot of people think the miracles of prayer only happened in the far past and don’t realize that God still helps us, by us asking him today in prayer, for all things, according to their faith! The movie is about the devil trying to break up the family (Very True).

Salvation given to us freely from Jesus & The Holy Bible study is a must! The movie shows us we have a mission for doing God’s will, large or small, and following it can help lead others to Love and salvation and directly affects others, in their beliefs in God! I so far, bought two DVD’s and sent them to my Daughter and sent one to my Son.

They were both brought up in Christian environments and told this was the way my Wife and I lived our lives in raising them. Just hope they can depend on God more than what this world has to offer. I’m very Thankful for God fearing person or persons, for writing such a great truth of everyday life, that is for the “present day”! And for the Actors for such a great performance! A very well done movie with such well-cast characters who make the story SO believable!! Even though it IS fiction, it was delightful to watch the bonus features and meet an actual prayer warrior whose Bible was used in the filming and learn of many miracles that happened while this movie was being produced.

There is such a wide variety of themes (issues) addressed in this movie, all basically centered around the power of prayer in resolving these concerns—the threat of one’s spouse becoming unfaithful, offering forgiveness instead of being offended, how children suffer when parents’ choices are selfish or illegal, honesty in one’s job, the power of confessing one’s sinful behavior and the power of service in lifting our burdens, just to name a few.

It was also laced with just enough humor to keep it from becoming too heavy, and outstanding athletic skills to make you feel awe for the sport of double dutch rope jumping!! Super movie for all ages!!! Thank you for this delightful movie that teaches while entertaining!!!! 🙂 🙂 :).

If you havent watch this movie you should. I own it it was in storage so I purchased this one for a friend to see. It is one incredible movie that will stir your heart to be a better Christian. I highly recommend the movie and also the cellar it came in perfect condition never opened.

This was an inspirational movie. It was compelling and exciting. The plot engaged me fully and the acting was excellent. I laughed and cried and laughed some more. It was a feel good movie well worth watching many times over.

This is an amazing movie. I knew that my brother and sister-in-law loved this show, as well. So, I bought it for them for Christmas…good price, too.

Great value on a WWII epic story about five friends and their walk through the hell of war. The film gives a rare look into the Nazi regime from several angles and opens some previously closed doors on just how bad it was for the average German, both military and civilian.

It begs no sympathy for Germany, simply lays things out the way it was for these people. No atrocities are denied, no holds barred, the evils of Nazi Germany are laid out for the world to see, simply shown from a different angle.

Very well written and produced. Special effects are on par with Band Of Brothers and the subtitles are very well done, (German and Russian are spoken in the film with English subtitles). The movie puts the viewer in the shoes of the five who lived and died in the movie.

The value comes in the fact that it is a German film with subtitles. Had it been American produced, I would think the price would be at least double. There’s rage at what some Nazi’s got away with, with the blessing of the Allies, and relief when others met their just fate.

A must see film for any interested in WWII.

It’s always nice to get another perspective on a period in time that changed the world forever. Here in the U. S. most major films are about the Western Front and the role of the United States. It’s nice to see how it effected the Eastern Front and the young men and women that suffered and endured much more and for far longer than The United States did.

We were all just following the orders of the leaders of the countries we loved and trusted. The English subtitles were done very well and were not hard to follow in the translation. Great movie. A must see for WWII enthusiasts.

What happens when the country you love betrays everything you believe? Watch Generation War to find the answer. The characters are a perfect fit for their roles. I don’t care for war movies, however, I found this intruiging so I watched it.

It’s not an easy film to watch by any means, yet it made me realize that there were many in Germany who did not always agree with what they saw going on even if they were in the military. It covers the lives and events of five friends & the twists & turns of their lives in their war torn homeland.

A young man I know had found the film and we have watched it. We have had many discussions about WWII. I learned so much from the film and the discusssions. I highly recommend this film.

I watched this on my 4K tv and the Blu Ray upconverted to be very clear. I was amazed at the picture quality and detail. While this is due to the TV, it made an old favorite much more enjoyable. Classic war movie with Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson and Telly Savalas.

Great tank action.

As a fan of classic war films, I cannot recommend this. The story is very weak, the cast does a pretty bad job(even though many were veteran actors) and as a whole it’s just too long. The transfer is nothing to write home about.

The bit rate is too low for a film shot in 70mm, but it doesn’t matter much because the actual master is a smeary mess. It looks barely better than a DVD. My recommendation? Get the remastered Patton, Tora! Tora! Tora!, or Lawrence of Arabia Blu-rays if you are looking for some great war films that will make your HDTV shine.

I saw this movie when it came out in theaters when I was a kid. I had to have it for my collection. If you’ve see this movie and want to add it to your collection but are doubtful and not sure if this is a good DVD.

Let me put your mind to rest I bought this for my collection and it’s a great copy and it played perfectly. The picture quality and color are very good, the case is a bit flimsy but all in all you can go wrong if you buy this movie.

I had never watched this series when it originally started. But a couple of months ago a couple of episodes were on TV. I then decided to purchase the whole 2 season series and was very satisfied with it.

It kept me occupied for over a week, I highly recommend it to any SCI-FI or action enthusiast.

If you want to see a different War of the worlds this is the one to see. I have read Worlds and see the 1951 movie. This searies just is so much better.

It would be nice if the dvd came in Blu-ray for better film quality. All in all it’s a good series, about a resistance trying to prevent a Martian takeover of the earth.

I used to make fun of my boyfriend for being into Star Wars. Then one day I was joking and said “ok let’s watch episode one and I’ll tell you what I think. ” I actually love the franchise now! I’ve seen all of the movies and several spin-offs (we love the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett).

The thing is, even if you think the whole “space-world” sci-fi stuff is stupid Star Wars isn’t that, it’s completely it’s own thing. You can completely hate it, but you have to appreciate all the thought and character development that goes into anything created for the Star Wars universe.

The disc’s are in pretty good shape. One bonus feature disc has scratches on the disc art. The case is in fair shape at best. Crack in the bottom, part of the top of the spine missing and on of the clips to keep it closed is broke off.

So I wouldn’t classify it as in near mint condition but as used with damage. All the disc’s play just fine.

This is my favorite series because I am fan there is nothing to dislike here. I do despise the Disney versions of Star Wars there are a awful imitation to George Lucas. This entire series is by George Lucas who is the masterful creator of this.

I recommend this to anyone for collection and viewing to the future.

A really great navy sea battle set during WWII. Two really good actors pitted against each other in really tense situations in the south Atlantic–A German U-boat and an American destroyer escort or frigate.

The two while on opposite sides respect the fact that the other is very good at his job, in fact they are equals.

I have seen this movie dozens of times and cannot tire of it. It is a classic! Robert Mitchum is a terrific actor and this movie fits him. I love all the older classic war movies, the actors of yesteryear will never be surpassed.

This movie is a cat and mouse game which really maintains your attention. Surprisingly, a bit of human compassion is shown by Mr. Mitchum at the end, really putting a cap on this. It is exciting, well acted (Curt Jurgens is also great), and graphically rewarding.

Absolutely the best documentary of WW2. Covers the military campaigns as well as civilian life in the at-war countries. Much input from “common” soldiers, sailors, etc. and civilians along with commentary from military and diplomatic leaders.

There are 26 episodes, each approximately 52 minutes in length. Also included are another 13 hours of special documentary features for a total of about 37 hours covering WW2 and its aftermath. This is well done British made documentary.

It is hard to compare this documentary series to any others because it is ONE-OF-A-KIND! At the END of the first DVD there is a an original “making of the series” special and I strongly suggest that a new viewer watch that first as it really puts the whole series into a unique perspective.

the makers went out of their way to use only original film footage and never anything that was knowingly staged or propaganda material and saying so if it is. EVen the “making of” special (which was done originally, not recently for the dvd release) is one of the best “making of” I have ever seen.

What is so great is that they broke wwii down not just into the biggest battles but to other areas, In fact, only about 15 of the 26 episodes is dedicated to major battles/engagements. The other 10 or so cover factors like political build-ups, civilian issues, etc.

What makes this arguably the BEST WWII DOCUMENTARY ever is the timing of when it was made and the interviews within. They flat out state that they were against the clock as they did this. In the early 70’s, many of the key people who had great things to share were starting to die from old age, especially those who were middle aged during the war.

It is just chilling to hear former top NAZIS speak about their personal experience in Hitler’s top group. Albert Speer, the “architect” of the NAzis is interviewed extensively. This is where the importance of watching the “making of” episode FIRST comes in.

OTher interviews such as citizens and soldiers who were in the war are equally incredible. The most important thing about this documentary? It was filmed long before everything had to be run through a politically-correct filter so as to not offend anyone.

The interviews cover the gamut of opinions during the war, even from BOTH sides of the “jewish problem”. I think if it were made today, much of the great interview footage would have never been released because somebody could be offended.

While there are some shocking images, most of it is just PG material. I would let a child down to maybe 9 or 10 watch it depending on the child but would absolutely be sitting there with them to discuss and answer questions.

I think it would provide invaluable information for kids and young adults that could spark a lifetime interest in history. This DVD could be had for less than $40 delivered in brand new factory sealed condition and I would have probably paid DOUBLE that, especially after I watched some of the content and saw how great it is.

Herman Wouk’s powerful, sweeping epic of WWII continues without a hiccup, although a few of the roles have been cast with different actors. Battle scenes are vivid and intense. The human stories play out against this backdrop and somehow avoid (for the most part) soap opera cliches and manipulation.

The movies of Winds of War and War and Remembrance make me want to read the books again.

As one who has been in combat since 1970 I can tell you with the highest level of honour, that this miniseries, along with the “Winds of War” are exceptional. While not totally accurate with their history, these film sets are the best I have ever seen.

They rank right there with John Ford and Ken Burns. The script was clearly worked on for a long time as they got the essence of the two books very well. The acting was exceptional as was the attention to detail.

You will feel like you are a part of the battles and more, you will understand more of WW ll then any other film can give you. Many say it is too long. Well people, wars are long. So, to recount them accurately is takes time.

I was there in the film. I felt the emotions, I did the fighting, I was at the camps of horror. It was exhausting but then war is exhausting. In this series we see Hitler far more accurately then ever before.

He was a serious mental case and the actor who played that role had a hard job and he pulled it off extremely well. Hitler helped end the war with his opening a second front when he shouldn’t have, not paying to his generals and admirals, not deploying troops,supplies, tanks when he should have and more.

This was well treated in series. If you want films that have exception adaptions, acting, musical score, a greater understanding of war and the horrors of this war, then this is the series to buy. It is expensive however in the end it is cheaper as you won’t need to buy any more films on WW ll.

I truly enjoyed it. Not for the War but for how it comes together. It is like a living thing you are in. It is well worth the money spend on the TWO miniseries as you will watch them again and again and each time seeing it in a different way, always learning more I used them to teach WW ll.

Well, to answer your question, you won’t be disappointed. The Criterion Collection raised the stakes for special features on their releases and fortunately for fans of movies that aren’t so serious, several boutique companies have followed suit and started jam-packing our favorite films with archival-worthy features.

As I stated before, there are FOUR version of the film, which you’ve no doubt already seen, but the pride and joy is the director’s cut on blu ray for the first time. There are also new interviews with Bruce Campbell and a slew of other goodies ready to prepare you for a Deadite invasion in your home theater.

Overall, highly recommended as the definitive release for Army of Darkness. Now go give Ash some sugar, baby.

I’ve been an Evil Dead fan for as long as I can remember. If you’re a fan and haven’t purchased this movie yet then this is the copy to pick up. This is the ultimate collection of this film. I don’t think they can cram anymore bonus footage/ additional footage unless there’s an additional commentary track but I don’t think that’ll happen.

Frankly I have 4 different mediums of this film and many other franchises. This collection has 4 versions of the film; Theatrical 81 minutes (1. 85:1) Director’s Cut 96 minutes (1. 78:1) International Cut 88 minutes (1.

78:55) and the Television Version 90 minutes with additional footage (1. 33:1). I have only managed to watch the theatrical and the directors cut. It’s somewhat refreshing to watch and something new has popped up from the added footage.

Great collector’s set for die hard fans but if you already own the screwhead edition and don’t really care for picture quality, additional footage and enjoy the film for what it is save your money when the entire trilogy to be released with all the bells and whistles.

This is one of the most impressive, engaging Blu Ray releases I have ever purchased. 3 disks, including FOUR different versions of the film (Theatrical, Director’s Cut, International Cut, and the long awaited Television Cut) and hours of bonus materials, including deleted scenes, behind the scenes featurettes, interviews and commentaries.

Shout Factory and Scream Factory put together some of the most beautiful releases for genre films and Army of Darkness is one of their best. Features brand new commissioned artwork and a reversible insert cover that has the original theatrical poster.

I cannot recommend this set enough. Especially if you’re an Evil Dead fan.

I have read the original novel by H. G. Wells at least four times, considering it the seminal story of interplanetary warfare. Wells demonstrated that he was a science fiction writer of the first magnitude, portraying a human victory at great cost.

I have also watched the movie starring Gene Barry several times, it was an incredible special effects marvel for the time. The Martian warships looked menacing, and their action of their weaponry was believable.

This version of the classic tale is a worthy addition to the saga of the original Wells story. The acting is superb and of course the special effects are dazzling. The human interest of a man that was not much of a father transporting his children through dangers both Martian and human made this a great human tale.

Some of the scenes, such as the burning train and Humvee are classic war scenes adapted to the fight with the Martians. However, nothing can top the clothes falling from the sky. This is a great movie, a worthy extension of one of the best science fiction stories of all time.

War of the Worlds is a book, a radio broadcast, and a 1940’s movie. All these formats were exceedingly scary for their time. This remake does not disappoint. The special effects make the action believable and frightening.

Cruise personalizes the story. We can empathize with him. First his unknowing scoffing at the freak electrically storm, than his realization that there is real danger. His concern for his children’s safety in circumstances he can not control is every parent’s worse nightmare.

The fear and loss of hope he feels hiding out in the farmhouse basement from the alien machines is deeply disturbing. I have to say that the sequence in which his character carries out a successful attack on one of the tripods was superfluous, which is why I only give the movie four stars.

That whole scenario was a distraction from the unrelenting helplessness of the situation. This is the point of the book, the broadcast and both movies. Humankind is helpless in the face of this invasion.

It is this slow and steady realization that makes this movie so dramatic. I found the scene with the burning train roaring pass particularly horrifying.

If one were to make the perhaps inevitable comparison to the 1950s movie it comes across heavy handed. But the earlier movie does convey the same type of terror. just not on such a grand scale with such ease.

The relationships between the characters, which I cannot pretend to go into very well here, is the most terrifying aspect of the movie. Not that the 50’s were paradise but relationships weren’t so #visibly# “broken.

” That is also includes the man to Creator relationship. There always has been an odd thing about the alien invasion idea as it is depicted in this story. If aliens were indeed “scrutinizing” earth for any length of time it seems that they would been aware of the diseases or even common colds (etc.

) which are ever so common to humans. Surely they should’ve been sensitive to the idea of importing disease when ingesting people in #this# movie. These are very naive aliens. (Unless they believed technology made them invulnerable).

Do I hear a commentary on present war activity ? Very odd that war technology could be so advanced but medical (for lack of a better word) advancement is not present. Spielberg is a master at his craft so I’ll have to continue to reflect on the movie.

The first ten minutes were very symptomatic of big Army procurement, in fact, of the entire Department of Defense acquisition enterprise. However, this movie, and the book on which it was based were entirely skewed and biased.

Sure, there were and still are plenty of bureaucratic stupidity in a system rife with inefficiencies and short-sighted technocrats – this was the basis from which the humor was drawn. That said, this movie had completely overblown one very minor technical aspect of the Bradley vehicle procurement process and made it central to the plot of the movie – the truth was that the “armor” testing in the movie was but one of hundreds of factors considered during the acquisition.

It was a bit dishonest to completely overemphasize that one aspect while not even mentioning the others. Alas, it is a movie, an old one, an attempt to be funny. The movie makers missed an opportunity to satirize the whole federal acquisition process, and, instead, focus on one lame aspect of a much larger event.

Scary that this is based on a true story! President Eisenhauer was correct in warning us about the Military Industrial Complex. It truly has become a wa$teful, self-licking lollipop!

History is one of my favorite subjects and because I am in the process of writing a book about WWII there was valuable resource information in this movie. Winston Churchill was born to save England. He believed he was destined to bring England to victory through the turbulent war years.

It was Churchill’s persistence and love for his country that brought the people through such a dark time in history. With most of Europe succumbing to the power of Germany’s raging bull with the black mustache, Churchill rallied the people to stand strong.

He prepared his people to fight back with an unwavering perseverance. Churchill was a visionary, recognizing the dangers that were looming on the horizon, he prepared England by consistently sounding the alarm of the impending invasion.

It was his consistent warnings that aroused his countrymen to ultimately face their fears and stand up and fight back. He kept the light of hope in the hearts of his people. The movie portrays the urgency of the times very well.

I particularly enjoyed the way in which the movie allowed the viewer to go behind the scenes of this famous man’s life to reveal some of the private and more personal issues that Churchill faced. Even through his own struggles, he remained strong and gave England his unflinching constitution.

He played his hour in history brilliantly. I would recommend this movie to anyone interested in a more personal view of Winston Churchill’s life. Often we forget that many of our leaders struggle as we do with depression, marital woes, and life’s disappointments yet they still have the responsibility of uniting a nation during the impending threats of war.

The gentleman who played the role of Churchill did a wonderful job.

THIS. is a wonderfully true to WWII facts movie about Winston Churchill’s emotional struggles and health issues that were both heightened by his patriotism, love for his country. and his burning passion to save his beloved England from German rule.

This account is award quality with splendid landscapes. and skillful actor contributions. I was spellbound. Albert Finney and Vanessa Redgrave I knew would be excellent. but combined with this movie’s excellent, exciting script.

I wanted more when it ended! Treat yourself. look at it and you will want more too!.

The acting and writing are very good. It is the most interesting period in Churchill’s life, since he is shut out of power, sees that a war is coming, and attempts to get the war stopped by strengthening English defenses and allies.

Ultimately, since film favors action, an accurate historical film will never be more interesting than an action film such as a war film, a Western or a fantasy.

I own at least 80% of US and UK made WWII films I have more then a few 400 disk Changers to house some of them. I can say that I have seen most of them, but I can only judge them on who I am as well as anyone else.

What I didnt like about the film is the use of American tanks in use for the German tanks, for anyone who has not served in the military or knows their WAR machines it would be still bothersome because OUR tanks were the same tanks AND they were modern tanks when this film was made! On top of that the US tanks were painted some strange colors that at times came off as pink in the mix of the camo.

Another strange happen was how the US tanks were not able to knock out the German tanks because of the suggested “new toys” in the German arsenal , and not the true fact that Tiger tanks were just normal hard to knock out with Allied medium tanks.

The director got overly creative in my view. I also didnt like the US guys using German anti tank weapons, as well displaying Army troops look like candy ass lazy fools no less under Bronson! The good was the Acting and Story line, top notch actors made up for the miss match props in the movie.

I also think the one SSGT that protected the LT is the same Marine in Star Gate Atlantis that got sucked to death, anyone know write me if you know. The modeling used for scale was very good, the real stuff the blew up was very cool, and even tho they used modern tanks it was cool to watch them tare ass around, i’m sure the National Guard guys were having a ball making this film.

I did get into the film, the Germans in US MP uniform pissed me off, the tank battles were fun, even seeing half tracks used as German was still fun to watch. I watched this as a kid with my father, and i’m now glad to own this film, tho I think I enjoyed it more as a kid.

If you looking for a “OK” war film to put in your collection this is a good one to get. It’s not the best, not the worst. I do understand the the director wanted to use real tanks and i’m sure for even 1965 when this film was made that real WWII tanks were hard to find and overall I side with the ideas the director wanted to get on film.

I’ve seen this movie before and wanted it for my library. It was exactly as I expected and remembered. A classic war movie on par with Midway, The Longest Day, etc.
