Best Wall Shelves For Books (2025 Updated)

Although the product looks exactly like what we needed, the description is misleading. It is not actually a ‘floating shelf’, it needs to be screwed into the wall and the picture does not show the screw holes.

Also, it does not come with the screws needed to attach it to the wall. They are quite sturdy and good quality but will need to be secured as they are heavy.

Very thick acrylic. We are renting so did not want to drill holes in the walls so took a gamble in getting these. Used heavy duty double sided taped and surprisingly has worked quite well so far. They have only been up (with light books) for 2 weeks now but have been fine.

The bookshelves worked out really well! We love them. However the packaging from modern closeout included some screws and anchors that definitely didn’t work. That was a little frustrating as it made the project much longer than it needed to take (patching and filling holes, waiting to dry and then redrilling).

I believe the ubabub shelves come without any mounting supplies because they don’t know what material youll be hanging them on. One of the shelves came a little scuffed up, but it wasn’t anything a mr.

Clean magic eraser couldn’t take care of.

The manufacturer took the easiest to assemble shelving unit and securely placed stickers on every single piece, including the 16 tubes that are all the same. I started putting this together 2 hours ago.

1hr, 45 mins has been sticker removal. I am using a high heat sticker removal tool and it does not even remove the gummy junk under the sticker once you get them off. There’s no reason at all to do this.

Pure frustration!.

Decided to update some overdue furniture. Looked all summer locally and online. Finally I located the Designs to Go black shelf. Walmart and the other major online company had it, but I waited until Walmart dropped the price recently.

I love the modern look as it is a somewhat shiny black with silver colored poles display shelf. It matches very well, holds a lot and was easy to assemble. Delivery was fast. Also I agree with another comment that it really is not what I would consider a bookshelf as there is no backing for the books to stand against.

To me this is a unique modern design display shelf. Thank you Walmart for again offering an unique online product that I was wanting to purchase.

I absolutely love this bookshelf unit. So far I have purchased 2 items from Design 2go. It definitely compliments my home. I wouldn’t definitely recommend it.

Once installed, these shelves look amazing. However getting them to all be level with each other is difficult – even with the included template. The screws provided are not very good, with the screw in drywall anchor often not going all the way in or creating holes too large and falling out.

Overally I wasn’t happy with the included kit and ended up using my own drywall anchors. That being said once up on the wall it looks amazing. Happy with the quality – made of sturdy metal and adds a nice element to my wall.

I bought these shelves about a month ago, and they were very easy to install (and I’m not great at this kind of thing). One thing is that you need to make sure the screws extend the perfect amount (~1/8 in) so that the back of each shelf is flat against the wall.

This might take some trial and error. But they look fantastic.

Outstanding doesn’t begin to describe this little shelf. It looks just like the picture and is of substantial weight (check the weight in the product description). I’ve stripped down a large, basic cabinet built long ago and am adding this to the top of it, since it fits perfectly.

I might paint over the distressed look so that the cabinet looks like one unit when it’s redone. This shelf can be used for so many things if you pay close attention to the dimensions. It seems to be real wood, which I like.

I ordered four of these distressed shelves and they are absolutely stunning! The distressing and detailing are amazing. I am planning to hang them directly above two long windows in our great room, and two long widows in our dining area.

I’m using them more as a window accessory rather than a shelf. They are the exact width I needed for the windows. We have 12 foot ceilings and they add great visual interest as you walk into the room.

They are very heavy, just FYI. They match our distressed white French country dining room furniture to a tee. I absolutely love them and was even happier they were on sale at the time of purchase. I’m so pleased!.

I was so disappointed when I got this product. It was beautiful, but paint was chipping off in multiple areas. I returned it and ordered another one. The second was in worse shape than the first. It had huge cracks all over it snd looked damaged.

I will not try for a third time.

Very fun bookshelf. Material is plastic, which is necessary to shape it, but it’s a high price for a few plastic parts. We kept reminding ourselves that we were paying for the look, not for the materials.

Installation takes planning, time and patience. One of the parts was not the same tint as the others, but Lumens offered a replacement with no fuss – much appreciated.

Studio or child room book shelf. your child will love it. it is different. we installed with a wild back wall color and it looks like a piece of art. not heavy . it is not easy to put it together.

Easy to follow instructions, and the quality is pretty high for the price. The finish on the metal pieces is a really pretty gilded bronze that works great with my existing bathroom fixtures. I’m not the handiest person in the world, so I had to enlist help to install it properly.

Otherwise a piece of cake, and it looks great!.

Great piece of furniture that looks great in my kitchen. Be careful with the mounting process. The unit fully assembled may create a lean with the way the 2 shelves mount to the pipes. Even thoigh the shelves may be both horizontally level, the support pipes may not be vertically level.

Amazing free standing white metal book shelf that looks fantastic in my bedroom or any room in the house. Ordered one for my daughter and liked it so much ordered one for myself too! Holds close to 50 books in very small space, very sturdy, minimalistic style, quality product.

Was a little challenged getting one of the two metal screws to thread into the metal base, but eventually did get it secured properly. Maybe let the manufacture know of this challenge and it can be remedied for a better quick assembly, since it should be so easy with just two screws, right! HIGHLY recommend this bookshelf you definitely will not be disappointed.

This took me less than 5 minutes to assemble, and it is built beautifully which helps the easy assembly. Anyone who can change their own car’s oil can build this in 5 minutes flat. Installing and lining up the books took another 30 minutes and one glass of wine, which is where the fun is.

It looks fantastic tucked in my small media room. Gotta give a shout out to the fantastic staff at The Container Store at The Grove in West LA. This was the only store in all of Southern California that had this in stock, so I called to confirm and a nice lady on the phone secured one for me.

Then I had to drive up from Orange County on a Sunday afternoon and brave the jammed LA freeways, crazy west LA surface streets, and packed parking at The Grove. But once I got in to the store the staff were kind and efficient and I was out of there in under 10 minutes even though their store was very busy.

All I had to do then was brave the journey out of LA to the gracious sanity of Orange County, and the bookcase was home!.

My husband and I spotted this bookshelf at our local store. We loved it, and added it to our purchase. Unfortunately, we took it home and put it together, and felt that it wasn’t stable or heavy enough to withstand the tugging, climbing, and pulling that our toddlers would inevitably do to it.

We weighed it down with all of our books, and it just wasn’t making a difference. Another downside is that it is even more wobbly on carpeted surfaces. This would be a great bookshelf for anyone without small children.

I would’ve loved this had it been as big as advertised and had I not bought the wrong color. I went to the store to return and exchange it so I could reorder the correct color but they turned me away saying I need to contact the manufacturer.

Which is ridiculous. For that soul reason I wouldn’t purchase this and when I finally do get my return I wont purchase the new one again either. God.

My worst online purchase EVER. very cheap quality. The shelves are almost hollow. I spent 6 hours putting it together. The shelves go in crooked. The instructions say to glue the pegs before putting them together.

So taking it apart to return it was a nightmare. Another 2 hours. I was literally in tears and exhausted by the end of this ordeal. Hands were raw from trying to pry out the glued pegs so I could put it back in the box to return.

I loved the design and the reviews were really good. I would not recommend this shelf to anyone.

I purchased this bed, nightstands and dresser. I was kept informed of the entire process from ordering through processing and delivery. The order was delivered on time. The delivery personnel were professional, knowledgeable and very competent.

They set up the entire bedroom set; putting everything together and installing it in the room. They cleaned up their mess and were gone. All that was left was to enjoy my new bedroom, which is perfect.

I will always check Coleman first before purchasing elsewhere. The experience was super easy and hassle free.

Great look, easy to assemble, seems that it will be durable. Only minor issue is that the shelves are hollow. My son accidentally broke one side of the shelf when he kneeled on it. However, we placed the broken side down and it is fine now.

I ordered two of these shelves. I got only one for now; the other one is delayed. as long as I get it, it is ok! hahha. About the shelf, it is beatuiful, elegant; very easy to put together; the instructions were easy to follow.

It took me around 45 minutes to one hour. I highly recomend it. I will add small attached lights in the top shelves.

Owning five older Sauder bookshelves that we were quite happy with, I bought two new ones. One was to specifically hold an existing set of Easton Press’ 100 Greatest Books. Admittedly, these are heavy leather bound books.

However, the older Sauder bookshelves easily handled them. After I put the two new ones together and moving the older ones to another room so as to have the same two in one room, after a week I saw the adjustable shelves were sagging.

Customer Service was sympathetic but offered zero solutions. They just kept saying there was a 30 lb weight limit on the adjustable shelves. I find it odd that the old shelves had no problem handling the weight but the new ones do.

I can only assume Sauder has gone cheap and somewhere along the line has started using lower quality materials. Sad to see another good American company go to the dogs.

The unit is nice but there are quite a few dings and scratches. They were supposed to follow up but we are still waiting. The delivery team left grease marks on the until and one side was not properly assembled, leaving it wobbly.

A simple but great looking and useful product. It is surprisingly light, so hanging on the wall (vertically) is quite safe, and still I can store heavier things (until the shelves’ max weight limit) on it safely.

You can get this at Ikea for half the price!! this is such a rip off

I love this bookcase, only gave 4 stars because the back panel (which was a major attraction for me) had to be removed due to damage sustained during shipping. A second delivery was attempted, that one arrived with the back panel damaged worse than the first.

Thankfully, Mr. Bielinski was able to offer a discount (which made me most appreciative). Also, I realize good help is really hard to find during these uncertain times, I was surprised to receive within 2 weeks instead of having to wait 14! Bottom line.

The Toulouse Bookcases are just absolutely stunning. I’ve received numerous compliments. The construction is extremely sturdy. Real wood shelves (a little bit of lemon oil for wood and the shelves just shine).

The back is a honey veneer. The bookcase itself is dark bronze metal. Hardware is provided by the manufacturer to anchor the shelves to walls. You can even add additional bookcases on either end. The ladder is a bit heavy and requires two hands to move from bookcase to bookcase as it does not slide.

Fantastic value!.

Something very important to know about this bookshelf is that unless you have at least two unusually strong and muscular people at your disposal to help you move and unpack this product you need to order the white glove delivery option.

The packaging it comes in is very heavy duty and in order to unpack it you need to be able to move the shelves around and they are EXTREMELY heavy. They really should tell you that when you order it.

Otherwise very happy with this product. Lot’s of shelf space, very sturdy, and visually appealing. No other complaints.

Wonderful looking shelf lots of storage and perfect for a small space.

The ladder would be nice but the assembly method is mad. We have assembled all sorts of furniture, including complex pieces from Ikea without problems. But this is diabolic. Here, for TWENTY times you need to fit a screw inside a sort of metal bolt that you have previously inserted inside another piece of wood and you have NO way to see what side the hole faces.

This is the point: there is no way for you to know if the hole through the bolt is in line with the screw or not, and for the screw to enter, it needs to be perfectly in line. It’s like winning the lottery! How could they conceive such a thing? And all this for a very simple item: just a ladder.

Avoid. The sizes of the screw are not corrected either: the 20 screws I seem to remember they should be 25 mm and instead they are 30 (or vice versa) and makes them the same of two other screws of the packet.

Finally some screws turn and turn and never tighten. Just buy something else, believe me.

Perfect fit for my indoor house plants within a little sun trap. Easy to put together and very sturdy. Without taking up too much space it looks elegant.

By the time Id noticed the damaged wood Id put it together. Its a nice set of ladder shelves but Im disappointed with the damage.

This shelf is so modern and striking. I wanted these from the moment I saw them at the store. I purchased 9 of these and could not be happier with my choices. My collection of glass bowls looks incredible with them in and on it!.

This product lacked quality control. The edges are rough and there is a long crack on the base of the unit that is visible given its location on the wall. I regret not returning it. I waited so long for it.

It really wasn’t worth the wait.

I bought these after thinking long and hard about whether or not they would work. They are perfect for storing the little “extras” that I don’t want cluttering the bathroom counter.

Assembling the shelves was easy. However, installing them on the wall lined up perfectly was terrible. The installation template is printed on paper that you must fold and tape to the wall. Printing, folding, and taping all introduce errors.

Additionally, the anchors provided did not work for my drywall (yes, I have drywall, but it is some of the oldest type there is). After installing the wall anchors that I had to go buy at Home Depot, the shelves ended up being too close too each other and were cockeyed.

Yes, I had all the appropriate tools. I had to uninstall two of the units, space them farther apart, install new anchors, patch the old/incorrect holes, paint them, and then finally hang up the units.

If you’re going to buy multiple units, please plan to have gaps between them to save yourself a ton of hassle and frustration.

After a lengthy delay, my two index shelving units arrived and look amazing. They were very easy to assemble. I didn’t use the plastic molly bolts as the shelves are on the heavier side especially when adding books.

I like how precise the shelves fit together and am considering a 2nd set to hang vertically. Very nice clean lines. The only reason for the 4 stars is because I ordered these in early July; their website said 1-3 week delivery timeframe.

However, they did not arrive until after October 5th. Customer support was always very responsive to my questions about where the order was but gave unrealistic dates. Finally someone stepped in about two weeks ago and explained what was going on (supply chain issues).

I see now that shelves have a 3-month wait which makes more sense than the 1-3 weeks posted on their website when I made the purchase.

These are wonderful, stylish shelves. Great quality wood and the intense packing job ensures you’re getting these babies (and all Burrow products) without any dings or scratches. They’re also easy to put together.

A little less easy to hang if you’re going solo. Would definitely recommend a hanging buddy, but it’s more than possible to install alone! Burrow includes a handy wall chart to tape up to help make sure the whole set hangs straight together no matter the size of your crew.

Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for quality shelves for display purposes.

these shelves look good, are of a very useful size, and were easy to install.

This bookcase would be very nice, but when it comes with multiple pieces dented and corners dented and crumbling it is very frustrating. It costs too much to arrive with so many issues. Every shelf had a big dent right in the front and center.

The top piece had two corners damaged. There were other pieces with dents and corners cracking/damaged that were less noticeable once put together.

I couldn’t wait to write a review on this bookcase. I read previous reviews before I purchased it and they were all on point. The company needs 5 stars just because they seem to understand just what the customer wants.

I am female, 64 yrs. old and put this bookcase together by myself!!!. Two people would be great to assemble this, but I had to handle it alone. The quality is fantastic, it is heavy, nice paint, heavy adjustable shelves, stylish and most of all easy to assemble.

The only thing that I had difficulty with when assembling was one of the screw casing, which was defective, but other than that everything was well labeled, and easy. I really appreciate how well the instructions were and illustrations which made it so easy to assemble.

I simply love, love this bookcase. I may order another one. If you are looking for a great product, reasonably priced, easy to assemble, choose this one, you won’t be disappointed. I give it a high five!!!!! Perfect for me.

I couldn’t find the one I have on here. I got this book shelf two years ago and it is still holding strong. I put my favorite books a long with a row of my daughters and use it for decor in my dining room.

I ordered it from Amazon. I love it and it’s nothing fancy but it can be fixed up however you like.
