THIS IS A FULL REVIEW Finding a review to explain exactly what the VR experience entails is a difficult one Many simply state it being hard to explain and just buy one to find out The problem with this is that it is a very expensive way of just jumping in blind to find out for yourself I made the plunge after years of doubt, and having unsuccessfully found anywhere to trial one Well, i wasnt disappointed Trying to describe the VR experience is in fact as hard as others have said, but i think the experience can be described in order to give a sense of what it offers Visuals – i can best describe my experience, using the Oculus Quest, as giving an immersive, 3D / holographic type of experience.

Back in the 80’s our school had a travelling science group who showed us holograms, looking through boxes or tubes, seeing the visual holograms of certain objects, animals etc. These images appeared 3 dimensional, and also appeared to be, in a sense, floating within this infinite 3 dimension space.

This is the experience that VR, in general, offers. Take Robo Recall for example, my first outing in to VR It immerses you in what feels (or the brain is tricked) like a real life city, albeit in an obvious computer game graphical visual.

However, where it shines is that interactions while fighting/shooting the robots, in that they appear correctly, at various distances, scaled correctly, shadow details, etc and the rendered ‘box’ of the robots is incredibly accurate.

‘Grabbing or shooting at the robot, gives a real sense that they are actually there, in front of you (or behind) and you find yourself reacting automatically to duck dodge or block them. VR is this ability to construct a 3 dimensional arena/world, and tricking the brain to immerse you as if it were real.

The only thing that holds you on to actual reality is the obvious computer rendered images you see (and the occasional hitting your knuckles on a nearby desk or wall Oculus Quest Unit Hardware This unit is my first jump in to VR, so i have nothing to compare it to, however, I’ve bought many an item over the years, and can clearly judge that this item is of top rated build quality The plastics are hard, feel sturdy, have differing surface finishes depending on if its where you would normally hold or touch.

The straps are adjustable, feel strong and hard wearing. The foam padding is comfy and soft, and does an excellent job of block out light. The lenses / screens have an adjustment facility for those with eye issues.

I have on eye with long distance issues, however i can wear my oculus with out my glasses and have no issues with seeing clearly. It is possible to buy lense inserts from the Oculus approved company by giving them your prescription I havent opened up the unit to look at the internals (nor will I), but this unit uses OLED screens with a high resolution, a high brightness, and the blackest of blacks.

The refresh rate doesnt cause any tearing or slowdowns when things get fast paced. The battery has a supposed life of around 2 hours, ive achieved slightly higher than this, but it will depend on the software, games etc that you are running.

The touch controllers are superb, and i was blown away with how accurate the xyz position and displaying of these were on the unit. Software This area was a surprise for me, id had a quick look and saw a few games ertc, but it wasnt until i installed the oculus app on my phone (this is required on initial first turn on of unit) and the oculus app on my pc (not required to play on oculus), that i saw the shear amount of additional software tools available.

The Quest can be run as a standalone unit, using just the Quest store for software. However, plug in a cable and attach it to your VR capable PC opens up a whole ‘rift’ of possibilities. This software, Oculus Link’ enables the quest to access the Rift store, hereby giving full access to the complete list of software available on the PC based Rift store, thus opening even more games and apps.

From there you can also instal SteamVR, and access the VR content on the Steam store. This whole process is a simple case of buying the correct USB-C to C cable (must be capable of delivering power and data, normally advertised as 10GB cables) and allowing the oculus pc software detect your headset, install the Oculus Link software (in Beta, but its works well), then on the Quest home screen, you simply click on the beta link button and it transfers you to the Rift home screen and store.

For steam it requires SteamVR (which is in your ‘tools’ folder not games) The oculus software enables you to map out your room, drawing around everything using the touch controllers, this gives you a safe area, and the system will bring up a grid on your eye screens when you get too close (this can be adjusted and changed very easily if you use the Quest in another room etc.

As the quest version is primarily wire free, portability function is great on this) run out of characters lol.

The Quest, on it’s own is amazing. The wireless nature automatically gives it an advantage over the Rift, especially for games that require wide ranges of motions. The reason I give it four-star however, is two reasons, one more excusable than the other, imo.

As of writing this, the Quest doesn’t have a significant library and isn’t quite seamlessly compatible with Rift games. Just to play Rift games, you need the cable and the beta-mode Cable Link. I attempted this with FNAF VR, which I’d purchased prior to figuing out which headset I was going to get.

It worked, sure, but wasn’t quite synced properly. The bigger issue, to me at least, is if you’re someone who wants to stream VR games. The only available platform right now is Facebook. There is no option to stream to Twitch or even upload to YouTube.

You *have* to use FB. There is a way around this, much like a way to download custom Beat Saber maps, via third party apps on your laptop. The Virtual Desktop, apparently, tries to force you to uninstall SteamVR (I haven’t tested this yet, but that was a major complaint I saw while researching Virtual Desktop).

A lesser issue I’ve run into is the joycons spontaneously becoming unresponsive for short periods of time, which is unfortunate but not a major issue for me. Overall, the Quest is delightful and I’ve definitely put enough hours in to justify the price to myself.

Hopeful for more titles to come to the Quest, better options for streamers, and for Bluetooth to allow use of Steam VR if the laptop/computer is Bluetooth compatible~.

Overall the best standalone VR headset out there. Not only can the Oculus Quest run some great games on its own, it can also act as a PCVR headset with Oculus Link. This allows you to enjoy all of what PCVR has to offer on your quest for as little as $20 (10ft USB3 C to A).

Better yet, there’s an app on the Quest store called Virtual Desktop ($20) which, with a decent wifi connection, allows you to stream your desktop to your headset. With a little sideloading, this can include playing PCVR games wire-free creating a more immersive experience.

My only complaint about the Quest is the comfort aspect, specifically the front-heaviness of the headset. However, this can be easily overcome with a few modifications. My two must haves are a front cover (can get a good one at VR Cover) and a counter-weight attached to the back of the headset.

The front cover provides extra cushioning for your face, allowing an even tighter fit without feeling uncomfortable. As for the counter-weight, you can buy one online or create a DIY one with stuff you got lying around.

Regardless of what you choose, a counter-weight works wonders since it counteracts the front heaviness by moving the center of mass to the top of your head. In my opinion, the Oculus Quest stands above all other VR headsets on the market in terms of bang for your buck.

It’s performance competes with other major headsets but the Quest’s untethered and versitile nature is it’s major selling point.

The headset is way to uncomfortable to wear longer then 2 hours Been playing consistently for over 2 weeks and still get motion sickness fairly easily so at best I’m getting 2 hour gaming sessions before either the blood in my face is squeezed out and it feels bruised on my cheeks and forehead.

There are solutions to this but they’re mostly third party. On top of all this, everything has to be rebuilt instead of just transferred like a phone would be. Instead of having the same apps as your phone, those same apps need to be rebuilt from the ground up, which means not only is there next to zero useful apps, but the ones you can find are entirely different from what they actually are on android or pc.

Instead of having one epic system, we have three slightly infinitely broken systems that can never be completed until they agree to be one system. Be willing to jump through a lot of hoops to get things like basic android apps working and getting screen sharing with you computer working easily without some serious modifications and know how.

2022 will hopefully changed this, but based on how the economy has been playing this out, I’d say they’re going to take 10 years just to get N64 working again instead of just running android with the android store.

Aside from all this, its essentially the same game over and over rebranded and reskinned. Either shooting games, tag games, or table tennis like games. Some good experiences to be had, but not enough yet to make it worth a full fledge console price when you’ll have to stretch to get 200 hours out of this thing when you can accidently dump that amount of time into a computer or game console without even realizing this.

Where as the Oculus will cause you a great deal of pain, discomfort, and anger over how annoying it is to use this headset as a virtual desktop From the moment you turn it on you’ll start having thoughts like: Why isn’t this done yet? Why can’t I find this app? why doesn’t this basic app that’s over 15years old work properly? Why can I stream fast past games to kids around the world where we can real time shoot each other with guns, but I have to pay 150$ yearly subscription just to stream my screen to my headset? Why is it such a crap experience when streaming 3 feet to my headset? I’ve been playing real time COD since I was 13 years old over wifi, yet some how, some way, it takes to much information to have real time updates with a computer 3 feet infront of me.

Stay away from Oculus headsets until they get their quality control up to par. I’ve owned 4 Oculus headsets, starting with the Go. Every one of them has had issues. The Go (from Walmart) arrived with a dead pixel, so I sent it back.

I liked the technology, though, so I decided to upgrade to the Quest on the next go around. My first Quest (from Amazon) arrived with a swath of darkened pixels at the top of the left eye. It was very disorienting, so I set that headset back.

They were out of stock, so I had to accept a refund instead of a replacement. About a month later, I ordered my second Quest (from Walmart). It arrived with a frozen/dead green pixel, popping sound issues (or no sound at all), and would randomly freeze and crash.

I was busy, so I didn’t thoroughly test this headset. When I realized there were issues, I had missed the return window by 1 day. So I sent that headset in to Oculus for repairs. The RMA process was easy enough, but what I got back was another faulty unity (directly from Oculus).

This one arrived with sound issues, and recently, the tracking has started to malfunction. What are the odds that all 4 units that I’ve owned would have issues? They obviously have some serious quality control problems.

These headsets are not worth what they’re charging for them. Not at this failure rate. I’d stay away from Oculus until they get their stuff together (if they ever do).

My mom has been a fan of VR before it was even on the market — she is completely obsessed with 3-D movies to the extent that she has said to me before that she won’t even go see 2-D movies in theaters anymore! As soon as VR headsets came on the market, I bought her one and she LOVED it, but the main problem is that most VR headsets are introducing their own videos rather than linking with videos she already watches all the time.

Needless to say, I was completely WOW-ed by this Oculus Go headset because it actually integrates VR into the user’s everyday entertainment, with the ability to connect to Netflix, Hulu, RedBull TV, tons of awesome video games, and CNN!! With the Oculus Go, my Mom could actually watch the news as a VR experience — how cool is that?!? Seriously, this Oculus Go headset is the technology of the future.

I am writing this review as part of a contest, but that does not impact my very high recommendation of this product. For the slow reader, I’m going to break down a few of the key benefits of this VR headset in comparison to others on the market: Capabilities —- It’s true, the Oculus Go is not the most high-tech VR headset on the market, but the Oculus Go is designed for the everyday user and THAT is why I love it! I don’t need to pay $500 for the best VR technology there is, I just want a VR headset that works with the videos I already watch, and that’s what the Oculus Go provides: it can actually integrate VR into Netflix, Hulu, RedBull TV, tons of awesome video games, and CNN.

Comfort —- If you want to use your VR headset all the time, comfort is extremely important. This Oculus Go headset is so comfortable that you can hardly feel it on your head! Additionally, users can keep their glasses on underneath the headset.

I do not wear glasses myself, but a friend of mine was very excited when he discovered this capability because it made the VR experience way better for him. Note: This Oculus Go headset comes in 32GB and 64GB.

In my opinion, if you are going to invest the money in a VR experience then it’s worth paying a little bit more money for the 64GB, but the 32GB’s quality is good as well and I would recommend either purchase.

I love my Oculus Quest. I originally bought it to help me enjoy the VR films showing during the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW. Attending a VR film party during the quarantine was wonderful. It was the first time in months that I was able to actually attend a party with real people.

Even though it was virtual, it felt real and was a lot of fun. I also love using my Oculus to do Supernatural virtual workouts. It’s added a completely new element to my fitness routine. Again, that was a lifesaver during the quarantine.

Plus, the Oculus app syncs to my Apple Fitness app so I can track the impact of my virtual workouts. The only downside to the headset is that it doesn’t really accommodate Black hair. If my hair is in an Afro it will leave it mushed and misshaped.

If I’m wearing a wig or braids, it can become uncomfortable. Also, you have to be very careful not to get any hair product on the lens. All in all though, I’m really happy that I bought it.

The Quest is a truly amazing VR experience. On par in many ways with high end VR solutions at a fraction of the cost. Pros: Crisp screens with minimal screen door effect. Comfortable field of view Fantastic controllers that let you interact with the virtual world in all the ways you’ll need to.

Great gesturing system that feels natural. Comfortable headset that’s surprisingly light and comfortable considering it’s got everything built into it. 6dof allows for a great room scale experience that can support sizes far larger than any other solution on the market.

Wireless. spin round and round as much as you want without worry of a cord wrapping around you or getting tangled. Build in CPU/GPU. a step up from wireless. having the computer built into the headset allows you to bring your VR anywhere you want and customize your VR experience to your suroundings.

Even wireless solutions for PCVR headsets can’t allow for this level of customization of your physical: VR environment. Can charge/play. allowing you to use relatively inexpensive battery packs to keep the headset topped off for nearly endless gameplay.

Cons: Low end graphics: many games have to be downscaled in many ways to make it onto the quest. Some are barely noticeable (in case the game was not demanding int he first place), while others take a notcable hit.

3 hour battery requires continued charging if you want to play for long periods of time or pass it around. A bit of a pain if you don’t actively keep it charged (or have a power bank). Oculus is especially restrictive on which games make it to the quest.

This is a double edged sword, as you’ll end up with a library of mostly fantastic games, but also be missing out on great games that they won’t approve.

If you do not have a vr ready graphics card in your computer then get this. Also do not do any rollercoaster vr you will get motion sickness. Also what i did to salve motion sickness was drink canada dry ginger ale all the time.

This helps stop motion sickness also if you feel the sweats coming on remove some clothing to cool off or wear shorts and no shirt and turn on ac. Also games like journey if the gods can give a bit of motion sickness.

Just continue to drink ginger ale. Also get a battery pack type c port and velcro and velcro a power bank to the back with a type c to type a usb cord to charge the oculus quest while you play so the main batter last longer.

Also buy rechargeable AA batteries because the controllers take AA batteries 1 battery in each controller. Also have good lightning for the controllers to have good tracking. The most fun games for me is vader immortal 3 in the dojo section and space pirate trainer.

Journey of the gods is unique and awesome. Also the wizards is awesome game with magical powers you can upgrade. The fps is fine. The games make the graphics most of the time. It is not really the. R headset because i was looking at oculus quest vs valve index and oculus rift and i cant really see any terrible graphics unless the game itself is just not madefrom awesome rendering software.

The main reason to get this piano is for the best genuine key action you can get for the lowest price. Unlike nearly a decade ago though, the VPC1 can no longer boast being the best key action for its price (which is still the same after all these years).

The key action the VPC1 has is the most genuine for its price range but is losing a lot of its value from its successors and competitors with comparable quality key actions in the market, costing much less within the same price range.

Though feeling less genuine compared to a real piano action, its competitors offer much more versatile key action allowing better expression for synthesizer and other instrument voices, along with a plethora of features and better technology.

The VPC1 lacks the basic features of all of its competitors such as: -No Speakers -No Pre-Built in Instrument Sounds/Voices –None of the arrays of miscellaneous functions other digital pianos come with such as a LED Screen, Metronome, Recording, Double Headphone plug-ins, etc.

The VPC1 also suffers from: -Inconsistent Build Quality (Mine came defective) -Outsourced, Mediocre Foot Pedal Unit that has a tendency to break within a year with use. Putting all that aside, the VPC1 has heavy, and incredibly nice ivory-feel piano keys that are also made of wood.

The feel of the keys as you hit them is incredibly satisfying as you hit them and will have a very little issue making use of advanced piano technique and having the sound difference it makes be emulated accurately by the VPC1.

You’re giving up a whole lot of value for just a key action that feels a bit more genuine compared to its competition within its price range. For those who absolutely value genuine key action, I’d recommend saving and getting another of Kawai’s higher-end offerings for much better value.

This is a wonderful midi keyboard with a great feel and playability. It is very solid in construction and oozes quality. Just the keys, please. There are no extraneous buttons or controllers to distract and it has a blank top to place other instruments and equipment.

My previous instrument was a Yamaha S90-ES, so I am used to that feel. This is pretty close. They white keys aren’t quite as polished (from use?), but I expect them to be soon. As I read in another review, the black keys have a coarse feel on the top instead of a polished feel I am used to.

That is a distraction that I will overcome. It feels and plays with genuine appeal that makes me want to play more classical styled pieces in my live streams. Now I get to find more authentic piano samples for it.

I hesitated at first when buying the vpc1 because I haven’t tried one myself. After reading many positive reviews, I decided to go for it. Kawai vpc1 did not disappoint. I like the key action and all wooden keys.

The key action is better than Yamaha Clavinova clp575 which is my previous piano. I pair my vpc1 with Ravenscroft 275 virtual piano, Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface, and two Yamaha HS5 studio monitors.

The sound is great.

Setup requires USB 3. 0 and good new video card with hdmi currently running a RTX 2070 GPU on a Ryzen 9 processor with a M. 2 SSD. It worked for about 11 months then the system would crash and lock during game play.

Sometimes it would lock up on just calibrating the VR setting during setup. I spoke with oculus support for 2 weeks trying to reslove the problem. They had no solutions. They had me unistall and reinstalll the oculus software, update is multiple time.

I sent them crash logs multiple times. Their last solution that did not work was reinstall the software for a 5th time. Of course it did not work. I run this Oculus on a gaming PC on windows 10 that I built.

All my PC drivers sofrware is up to date. I highly do not recommend buying this device. Oculus does not have a repair shop and there is no local repair shops that can fix this device. It has become a paper weight!.

There were initial problems installing the Software. With the very good support from Oculus, we traced it to the virus protection software and, once that was uninstalled, the installation went well. The free demo programs from Oculus were impressive and give you a good idea what the unit’s capabilities are, as far as VR games are concerned.

However, I had bought the unit to bring an additional level of experience to watching 3D movies and documentaries and this did not work out too well. To watch this kind of material, you need an additional program (I bought SkyBox from Oculus) to convert the standard video files to the format needed by the headset.

It works reasonably well, but compared to my LG 3D TV (passive glasses) or the Panasonic 3D projector (active glasses), it is quite disappointing. The colours are more washed out, the resolution is inferior to the TV and projector (both 1k) and SkyBox places you in a movie theatre with a large screen.

I’m better off watching 3D material on the TV and the glasses are much more convenient than the fairly heavy VR headset. I am sure the unit itself can do an excellent job with games which are designed for it.

My disappointment is mainly due to higher expectations and using material for which the unit was not designed. Do I recommend it? Yes, if you use it for 3D games – No, if you want to use it for 3D movies and documentaries (eg.

IMAX), unless it is the only choice you have viewing such material.

Bought this for my 15 year old for his PC. We’re sharing it now. He doesn’t know it yet, but we are. I will let him use it on his and I will use it on mine lol This is a fantastic bit of kit for the money, considering other setups have complicated base stations you need to add in and configure.

A friendly reminder to those considering, please look at the Oculus website, it tells you, you will need a fairly decent PC to be able to use this and there is even a small tool you can download as a spec checker.

I can’t believe how many negative reviews there are on this because people can’t be bothered to do some simple research before making a £300-£400 purchase. My only criticism if there had to be one is the tethering to Facebook.

I can’t stand social media in most of its forms, so to be forced into using an associated Facebook account to be able to access the Oculus store is a bit of a bind. Steam works seamlessly, download and play as ever with little to no set up issues.

If you have the PC power, go for this. If you still have a VR capable PC, you may want to consider the Quest 2 and get a compatible cable (Quest 2 becomes Rift S(ish) with one) which can be found for around £20-£30.

Enjoying it immensely, Job Simulator is a hoot and Phasmophobia is pant wetting good fun. If you’re thinking of getting into VR, do it but please research it first and be sure your equipment is up to the job.

You cannot plug this into any generic unspecific high street store bought (to allow review to be submitted) laptop and expect it to work.

Biggest waste of money I have ever had the displeasure of owning. This thing gives me so much trouble it just became a paperweight for two straight years. I get to have two entirely different issues depending on how I plug it in.

If I plugged into the dedicated PCIe USB extension card that I got for the sole purpose of running this headset, then I’m probably going to have to go through a good 30 minute process of plugging it in and unplugging it over and over again until it decides it wants to work.

If I plug it into any of the inbuilt USBs in my PC, then I can play off the bat but anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes in I will have to unplug it and plug it back in as all audio has stopped. And sometimes such as just before I made this review, it’ll just shut off entirely and seemingly break my USB ports.

Like this thing straight up caused my mouse to stop functioning properly until I restarted my PC, my mouse actually just stopped working as soon as the headset bugged out. Never. Touch. This. Headset.

SO IMMERSIVE! This device will transport you to another world! After a little setting up, you can jump into the action with a ton of games or apps ranging from things like Facebook, or the Metaverse, and apps that allow you to visit anywhere in the world or solar system, all the way to games like BeatSaber or RoboRecall, which makes great use of the hand controls.

Sensors on the hand controllers allow the games to differentiate between extended fingers, bent fingers, and grasping fingers. There are two joysticks, one on each hand, two buttons each, a/b and x/y, triggers and palm buttons round out each handles available functions.

The lenses are easily cleaned and have a button to change the distance between lenses in order to help with depth and to help your eyes adjust to seeing a different image in each eye. Built-in headphones of good quality help to drown out the world around you and complete the highly immersive experience of drifting away into another realm.

So if youre anything like me, you do extensive research and comparisons, forum readin and YouTube watching to make sure you get WHAT YOU WANT. Ill list out the best things for the Oculus and the competitor (vive) Oculus: much much more transportable, less wire management, everything plugs directly into your computer.

Software integration is seriously on a different level with the oculus store having its own games and intuitive features. Controllers fit very nicely in your hand but unfortunately the vibration Functions for them dont turn off, be prepared to buy rechargeable 18650 batteries.

The 2 sensors included can do 360 tracking, but I highly recommend getting a 3rd sensor for more intense games like contractors vr Try and imagine this as the iPhone of VR setups. Now the Vive The vice HANDS DOWN has better tracking software, wider and bigger sensors obviously mean better tracking.

Controllers have a weight to add to the immersion of you holding a gun or sword or something, plus the controllers have rechargeable batteries already inside them so all you have to do is buy a dock or use MIcro USB, I personally dont like this feature because if you have guests or friends over and the controller batteries are dead / dying, have fun waiting to recharge them unlike the oculus where you open the cover and swap them out.

The vive also has much more superior build quality, both headsets weigh the same but the vive. it just feels right and sturdy when you hold it and put it on your head. It also doesnt have the black panels on the side of your FOV like the oculus does, so when youre in game it truly feels like youre more inside the game.

The lens on the vive are designed to combat fog and sweat much better than the oculus, at the expense of So to summarize it: buy the oculus for versatility, portability, ease of use, intuitive controller design, and excellent software integration, with the 3rd sensor 360 tracking is fluid and beautiful, make sure to pick up ceiling or wall mounts (2x wall mounts for $10, guy laser prints them really well.

Bought a set myself) and youll be really happy at how the sensors pick you up. Buy the vive if you plan on never moving it, but be prepared to spend decent amounts of money for extra sensors, which also takes up space on the connector box (which you would have to buy a splitter for more USB port), basically be ready to go through more of a hassle with the vive, with the rewards being better tracking, less foggy lens, sturdier build quality.

Aka the android of the VR devices. A MUST for these two are a ceiling wire harness, $25 and it allows you to move around the room without worrying about busting your ass over the wire. Highly recommend gettin that.

I wanted to expand the capabilities of the R5 with Pro Res and Pro Res raw recording but found the extra features even more valuable. Waveform monitor, False Color, Black and White all help with exposure and focus.

The time saved in post is worth the price of admission. It’s lightweight on a gimbal and the battery last a long time for me. In fact the R5 uses so little battery since it is not longer recording internally was a bonus I didn’t expect.

I bought it on sale and it’s no I wonder why I didn’t get it any sooner. I’m more apt to use the 8K and 5. 2K features more often. It didn’t take long to get up and running. Ditch the CF2. 0 cards and go external.

You won’t look back.

I had 3 Atomos units sold them all hoping to see a real big change for $1700. 00 over priced item. I wrote Atomos in the USA but it takes them too long to respond. I am trying to see how to connect it since I bought the pro kit but unfortunately like all other companies no instructions! What I printed from there site doesn’t say much nor instruct on how to hook it up.

I don’t think people will pay $1700. 00 unless they need it for work , I use it for fun and hoping to be able to learn in about a month to learn how to set it up and set up my Sony ILME-FX3 camera. I was about to return it I do not get much a small carrying case a couple of cables the shade and the charging cable no charger , I was selling my pro kit that I bought for my Atomos Shogun 7 but I will keep it since I have all the accessories I need and won’t have to buy any extra things.

I can say that so far can’t recommend it to others or recommend it to buy this item ! I had the upgrades on the Ninja V I sold and so far I do not see much deference. But I would say I might be happy with it after I learn how to use it or maybe no.

This was my opinion but I think the most buying an item like this maximum $700. 00 item is over priced.

I’ve owned The PSVR for about a year and all I can say is it was a waste of money. If you’re looking for any amount of actual gaming immersion this isn’t it. The graphics are terrible on every game I’ve played, feel like I’m back on a PS3, sometimes even a PS2.

You need to be in front of and facing towards a camera at all times and that takes away nearly all the joy and freedom from VR. You can’t even slightly turn to the side without losing responsiveness from the controllers and your VR hands start glitching out.

On top of that the camera itself is super touchy to any sort of outside light, so be prepared to invest in black out curtains and hiding from the light to play games. The price of the system is unbelievable, you’re paying full console price for an over glorified PS4 accessory that has way many cables and plugs hanging off it making it hazardous to even attempt to get into a game, one wrong move and the whole playstation and VR come crashing down.

The only reason it even has two stars is because, even with all it’s downsides, it is actually playable. Would trade out for an occulus in a heartbeat.

Do not buy, seriously. Getting this thing to work requires a Herculean effort. When it does work, it is low resolution and the available games are fairly crap. The Ironman game is pretty much unplayable, dragging load screens, the move controllers are constantly drifting.

The VR headset is impossible to get adjusted to cut incoming light. Other than that, the fit is fairly easy to adjust. It is not very comfortable to wear for very long but the good news is the gameplay is so bad you won’t wear it for long.

The camera based boundary adjustment is super clunky and has to be done every time. It looks like this system was created with sitting still in a completely dark room in mind. I thought that Playstation VR would perform better than the Quest 2 that was not connected to a PC.

Nope. Not even close. I will be retuning this hot pile of garbage. Maybe VR2 will be better?.

The PSVR 1 is a very old headset in VR years. This headset came out in 2016. It’s clear that this headset was an experiment to see if anybody cared about VR. For those complaining about the graphics, those graphics were great for a VR consumer headset in 2015/2016.

However, VR technology has changed a lot in 6 years. My question is why you would purchase a VR headset from 2016 in 2023 and complain that its not up to par to newer headsets like the quest 2. With news of the much better improved PSVR2 releasing this year, you sure did waste your money.

If you want a good entry level VR experience, purchase the Quest 2. If you want an even better experience, wait for the PSVR2 (that’s if you can get your hands on a PS5). Otherwise, you have a choice of the higher end VR headsets that will make your wallet scream.

Unfortunately, with no parallels support, you can not get Ubuntu to run as a virtual machine on a Mac. Parallels blocked users from using parallels tools. I know because I had to buy Parallels 15 early last year and at that time, parallels tools was working on Parallels 15 but had been blocked on parallels 14, at which time, members of the community were beginning to realize that Parallels has become corrupted.

Well, now Parallels 15 has the same bug and no support available at all. In fact, I put in a request online and they did get back only to tell me that I have had too many support cases so I am no longer eligible for support.

And I have not requested support in nearly a year. Anyways, I decided to splurge and pay for a good version of parallels to see if it was because I was using cheaper versions in the past. Either way, their virtual machines seem to not work for Ubuntu on the Mac anymore and even if they are free, they will waste your time with disfunctional products and no support.

Make sure you have a retail version of Windows to install with this software NOT a typical eBay developers license for Windows. The developers license versions will not auto update. Licences from current PC’s will most likely be flaged by MS on parralles as being a Not genuine install and again will not auto update leaving you vunerable to security hacks with a outdated version of Windows installed.

You must have a retail version of Windows to install to avoid these issues. The program does a superior job as a virtual machine. It even goes beyond a virtual machine and will allow seemless intergration between the ios and windows platforms.

Very good product. Way better than the “boot camp” solution. Support for the software was terrific too when a registration issue arose that was not their fault.

This will allow you to run more or less any modern operating on your Mac. The first product like this was something called virtual PC a very bad solution, this will allow you to run most flavours of Windows side by side on your Mac, I have been a Mac user for many years and most of the applications I use are Mac native including Microsoft office.

I do find there are the odd times when you need to run a windows only program and for this it works very well, you can even set it up so that your windows apps appear almost to run from within the Mac environment.

For best performance I would advise a reasonably powerful mac with a good amount of memory, under these conditions I have not found anything I can’t run. One word of warning this is not a solution for mega intensive applications or very heavy gaming, bootcamp would be a better option for those types of programs.

For the ability to run the odd PC or other program that does not have a Mac native version it can’t be beaten. This will also allow you to install partions for older operating systems as well, On one of my Macs I have the option of, Windows: 10, 8,7 and XP + a couple of Linux versions as well.
