If you like atmospheric music coupled with dark lyrics sung with a beautiful female voice seemingly contrasting those lyrics I highly recommend this band. Whatever force brought these creative and talented people together, I thank it.

If youre a fan of The Birthday Massacre, or are just interested in buying one of theirs cds, Walking With Strangers is a must. With an album full of melodies, vocal hooks, and heavy guitar parts, this cd aims to please.

Out of all albums by The Birthday Massacre, I can recommend this one highly above all others. The band bring back their usual industrial tinged gothic rock to make an album hard and yet still dance worthy.

With such outstanding tracks as the melodic and beautiul Goodnight, the power punching Red Stars and the hard rocking tune that was made a single and still leaves you wanting to get up out of your seat Looking Glass, every single track is worth a listen at least once.

Personally I find them all worth a much longer listen than that!.

4. 5★s “There are clues to making sense of a stranger. But attending to them requires care and attention. We should accept the limits of our ability to decipher strangers. ” Talking To Strangers is the sixth book by British author, Malcolm Gladwell.

Is it a book about social interaction? Yes, certainly, but not so much a “how to” as a “why do we get it wrong”. Gladwell explores the reasons that we seem to be so bad at telling when strangers are lying to us.

He does this with reference to a myriad of psychological experiments, research, case studies and examples. Gladwell holds that we are successfully deceived by strangers through a combination of three main reasons: the fundamentally human tendency to default to believing we are being told the truth; that facial expression and demeanour are much less reliable than we believe; and context matters a great deal.

“We fall out of truth-default mode only when the case against our initial assumption becomes definitive. We do not behave, in other words, like sober-minded scientists, slowly gathering evidence of the truth or falsity of something before reaching a conclusion.

We do the opposite. We start by believing. And we stop believing only when our doubts and misgivings rise to the point where we can no longer explain them away. ” Gladwell cites examples of Cuban spies and the CIA, Hitler and Chamberlain, Bernie Madoff and the SEC, the Penn State Paedophile Case, a murder in Perugia, and more “If every coach is assumed to be a p3dophile, then no parent would let their child leave the house, and no sane person would ever volunteer to be a coach.

We default to truth-even when that decision carries terrible risks-because we have no choice. Society cannot function otherwise. And in those rare instances where trust ends in betrayal, those victimized by default to truth deserve our sympathy, not our censure.

” Gladwell talks about whistle blowers, bail judges, alcoholic blackout and sexual assault, the effects of torture on.

Gladwell used multiple anecdotes from transcripts and interviews to bring “truth-default theory” to life in “Talking to Strangers. ” He worked through this theory as a way to explain the position most people default to when talking with strangers.

Truth-default theory originated with Timothy R. Levine, a distinguished professor and chair of communication studies at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Gladwell explained that when talking to others, we accept they’re telling the truth.

We look at two scenarios, and we go with the more likely answer. Something has to push us over the threshold for us to not default to truth. “To assume the best about another is the trait that has created modern society,” Gladwell said.

“Those occasions when our trusting nature gets violated are tragic; but…to abandon trust as a defense against predation and deception – is worse” (342-343). Gladwell opened and closed the book with the case of Sandra Bland, pulled over for failing to use a signal on July 10, 2015 in Prairie View, Texas.

That minor traffic violation led to a troubling exchange between her and state trooper Brian Encinia that led to her arrest. I didn’t remember this story so this was a fresh telling for me. He ended with the Bland case after a journey through other stories where he further developed “default-to-truth theory” and moved on to what I’ll call companions to default-to-truth for how we make sense of the stranger.

He moved from a look at Cortez vs. Montezuma II to Fidel Castro & Cuban spies and the CIA, UK ambassadors and Adolf Hitler, finally turning his attention to stories from today’s headlines. He talked about the controversial cases of Jerry Sandusky, Larry Nassar, and Bernard Madoff, as well as Amanda Knox, and Brock Turner.

A chapter labeled “Sylvia Plath” caught my eye. She and Anne Sexton were included. I couldn’t wait to see why. I kept thinking, “I feel like singing the Sesame Street song, “One of these things is not like the other.

” Some of these stories were not like the others and didn’t appear to belong. They did connect eventually, and that’s what made the book a stimulating mental treat. I thought Gladwell triumphed as a storyteller.

I talked about this book often as I read, so riveted was I by these stories and the new insights I gained. I told people he’s like Paul Harvey in that he gave you “the rest of the story” once he developed his argument further.

So many of his cases invited further study. He’s restored my faith in journalism. I could tell he thoroughly researched the cases presented and worked to give back an unbiased re-telling. He conducted interviews and used transcripts to bring life to the stories.

(Yes, that meant I did see curse words. ) Included were copious notes in the back. And he even gave an email address in the notes section for readers who notice an error they want to dispute. I felt better informed about past and present cases, and I appreciated how Gladwell showed compassion and empathy for people the media had tried in the court of public opinion.

When I finished this book I thought: “Give this guy a Pulitzer!” Such a departure from my usual nonfiction fare. I do like to take deep dives into subjects. I love the rush of the “A-ha moment. ” I could easily see someone taking Gladwell’s ideas and applying them to literature to make sense of misunderstood characters, like Frankenstein’s monster in Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” or Heathcliff in Emily Bronte’s “Wuthering Heights.

” The more I read, the more I saw how often I have let social media and news media influence what I believe about some of the high-profile cases covered again in the book. And I think Gladwell accomplished his goal because I reflected often on each case presented.

Not giving away the thrill of discovery, I will say they’re ones we should never forget.

Super book Talking to Strangers I love all author Malcolm Gladwells books. His unique perspective helps the reader to see things in different ways. He opens your mind to accepting new ideas! This book allows you to unlearn ways of making assumptions about people you dont know.

In some ways dated, due to the era it was written, which was 1961. There’s just a lot of kind of boring lingo & calling women all sorts or weird ‘cute’ names, etc – it’s the times, so that has to accepted.

However it is a classic for good reason, as the basic premise is compelling (a human raised by ET’s on their planet, who comes back to Earth). It is thought provoking. it is a while before you learn what the term ‘grok’ means & when you do, you understand the main character much better.

He is the ultimate outsider, so many people will relate to at least some of his feelings. I always feel that the books, movies, etc, that had a big impact, especially if it is ongoing, should be read/watched, & this fits into that category, definitely.

Heinlein creates situations that have not been considered before. Conceived in space, born on Mars. what is his nationality? Michael only wants to share the love, a realisation of the power of love as a result of an education by vastly more advanced minds.

He is a spiritual, not corporeal being. and when recognised as such has thrust upon him saviour like status. However, his lack of self importance wont allow him to accept the idolisation. He just wants to love and be loved and spend all his time on the bottom of the pool.

Read it, and you too will grok.

Can you “grok” it? Heinlein has been highly criticized for his pontificating: organized religion is a sham, authority is generally stupid, young women are all the same, and the common person is alternately an independent entity or a dim-witted cog in the ignorant lemming machine.

Yet the book is hard to put down. Its early pages conjure a truly masterful science fiction platform. Every serious reader with a science fiction collection should have it.

It a very popular band but, one of the best America has to offer. Naturally, with Jack White holding an axe, is a recipe for great music. Love the entire album.

Not for the faint-hearted. shocking story of a child soldier in Sierra Leone. Leaves much to be debated. Very violent and shocking as far as brutal murders. one horrific scene of sexual abuse. Well written in the child’s soldier’s voice.

Topical, important, timeless, shocking.

Normal twelve and thirteen year olds may spend their mornings at school. In the afternoon they might spend their time finishing homework, hanging out with friends or maybe even watching some cartoons.

In the evenings you could find them helping out their parents with chores or dinner, then preparing for bed. Ishmael Beah was not a normal twelve year old. When his village was invaded by rebels, Beah was separated from his family.

Beah must travel to try to find his family and a safe refuge. After a long journey across many villages, he finally finds a safe haven where the army resides. But when, now 13 year old Beah, is forced to either leave the village and get killed by the rebels, or fight with the army, he decides the only wise choice would be to go down fighting.

Ishmael has to do and see things that normal thirteen year olds shouldnt. After a few years of fighting, Beah is rescued by UNICEF. But his troubles dont stop there. He is confronted with reoccurring nightmares and terrifying images of the war.

This book is a moving book that really opens your eyes to the horrors that some children have to deal with. I recommend any high school student or adult should read this excellent book. I wouldnt recommend anyone younger than high school to read this book because of the graphic details this story involves.

This book was amazing! I have been going through a nonfiction kick lately, and my boyfriend suggested it. I think between work and everything else I still read this book within a week! It was well written and gives readers a view into how things are in other places around the world.

It was incredibly moving and found myself near tears more than once. I would truly recommend to anyone!.

Stranger of Paradise is quite the mixed bag of a video game. It combines elements of several different games, the most notable being Dark Souls and Devil May Cry. The game manages to find a good balance on its difficulty without being too punishingly hard and frustrating.

The combat is a lot of fun, the job system provides a wide variety of options for any play style. The game has a loot system that almost overwhelms you with loot with even the most pitiful monsters turning into Loot Pinata’s.

The bosses feel challenging without feeling impossible and taking them down and getting the big reward really feels great. Especially since the main character is such a brute and practically crushes them.

The combat and gameplay are fantastic and it actually becomes rather addictive to play. Unfortunately, for as good as the gameplay is is where the praise ends. This games story is. rather bad and thrown together.

It fails to explain even the most basic elements of the plot and the motivations of the characters especially Jack, the main character are not exactly clear. All you’re told is that Jack really hates Chaos and wants to destroy whatever it is.

It really does feel like they just slapped it together without much fun which is sad considering Final Fantasy’s always been known for their deep compelling storys and layered characters. The graphics on the cut scenes are rough to say the least with many of them looking like they are Playstation 3 quality.

The inventory system is honestly abysmal, with the sheer wealth of loot you end up attaining its almost overwhelming to even start sorting through it all. For all its faults Stranger of Paradise is honestly worth a playthrough just for how great the gameplay and combat are but maybe wait for this one to go on sale.

First the Graphics: The cinematics are fine and are done in unreal but in game graphics runs on a PS3/Xbox360 engine, like FF Lightning’s revenge or FFXIV engine. It is bad and gives Squarenix a bad name.

Pacing: It is the worst game to come out in the past 5 years with the absolute worst pacing of a story. It skips entire sections of a story, for example; in the beginning you have to ask the King for permission to fight the Chaos, then he says no and that you have to prove yourself first by defeating monsters, so your team gladly takes up the offer.

All of this is actually text on the screen, then it says it was a hard fought battle and that we should check up on the heroes. Then they talk about how the battle was nothing and that’s it. Final fantasy core gameplay is all about walking around and fighting things and all we get is a 20 second cutscene talking about a scratch.

Then lets go back to the king and ask to fight chaos again, this time he says okay. We get to start our journey right, we will go walk around, travel, fight monsters and level up before we get to our destination, right? Wrong! We get another cinematic about us making it to the dungeon and entering it, like it was literally across the street from the castle we had left.

I installed it after that. Controls: are clunky as expected from a ps3 era combat system. Audio, OST and steelbook are good.

The gameplay is fantastic, some of the best arpg gameplay out there. It was done by the same people who made the Nioh games and has some slight souls elements to it. The story is also genuinely amazing.

It might seem like it’s leaving out details but the game expects you to think about it and read the lore you find in levels, mission descriptions, and loading screens. There really isn’t anything “unexplained” so long as you pay attention.

The soundtrack is great, with a great battle theme and remixes of songs from past final fantasy games. The graphics aren’t the best but it didn’t bother me, plus they’ve just recently updated the game and improved lighting in some areas.

Performance wise it runs at mostly 60fps on ps5 in performance mode with occasional fps drops and one level having a weirdly bad frame rate. I don’t understand how they couldn’t get this game to a locked 60fps especially with the graphics it has and compared to other games on the ps5, but the fps drops didn’t really impact my enjoyment.

I really enjoyed this game and so far it’s the best game I’ve played this year. The game is definitely not for everyone, but go in with an open mind.

I love the little details added to the pop figure like her little bracelet and exact patterns of her shirt. The quality is overall amazing, doesn’t look out of place next to several other pop figures I own.

I like the material too as it doesn’t seem too difficult to break. Delivery was quite quick and it arrived faster then expected. I’m going to buy another as a gift for my friend.

One of my favorite Movies, Odd premise but was not an obstacle to full immersion in the story. Possible Will Ferrell’s greatest roles. Maggie is awesome so is Emma; (yep, first name basis.)

I am utterly blown away. I mean, rarely do you find such a wonderful blend of humor, wit, meaning, and quiet humanity all in the same film. As a comedy, it is wry and ironic. There is little physical comedy, and no toilet humor (not that I dislike either, but sometimes a change of pace is welcome).

Though the film is clever, it is understated – a simple premise sets up the action , and from there the characters do all the work. And what wonderful characters they are! Will Farrell is an amazingly good straightman in this film, something I never would have guessed from watching his oft over the top antics on Saturday Night Live for so many years.

He plays a wonderful character with a subtle charm. Maggie Gyllenhaal (whose name I hope I spelled correctly) is wonderful as ever, and plays a character a bit more recognizable as a role you would think to see her in.

Emma Thompson puts in, as usual, a very believable performance. And though her character is difficult to like at first, due only to the situation she’s unwittingly put herself in, it is hard to be unimpressed with her acting.

Queen Latifah, in a very serious role, is also good. So are Dustin Hoffman, and one of my favorite character actors, Tony Hale (Buster from the television series, Arrested Development). I cannot recommend this movie highly enough.

It is one of the few movies I’ve seen in the last few years that has truly earned its ending. It’s not wrapped up in a little bow, and it does not come from nowhere and for no reason. The choices the characters make may surprise you, but it does not feel contrived; knowing the characters, as you do by the end of the film, their decisions make sense, and their motives are clear.

This is one I will watch again and again. I can’t guarantee you’ll enjoy it as much as I did, but I can hope.

It is a 4-1/2 star but because that is not an option, I rounded up. This review will be split into two parts, first dealing with the content of the movie and the second dealing with the blu-ray advantages of the movie.

The movie is really quiet heart warming. It is a love story through and through. Will Ferrell is actually acting in this movie. He pulls the role off nicely without being over the top. He doesn’t over act either.

I got the sense watching this movie that this is more of his true personality. The supporting cast is excellent. They accent the story nicely. Maggie Gyllenhaal is again excellent; her character is seems like it may be nothing more than a radical extension of her.

I was happy because the movie is light hearted, nothing blows up, nobody gets shot, and there are no epic wars. It was an excellent addition to my blu-ray library. The picture quality is great. Nice and crisp, nothing over the top, but HD nonetheless.

The audio quality does not come from the technical aspects of sound. The sound quality comes from the sound track. It truly makes this movie natural. The songs fit every scene they are in. I loved this movie because it was a light hearted next-gen movie that added something deperately missing from collection, levity.

The Strangers starring Scot Speedman and Liv Tyler was a total borefest. This was quite a dull experience, the first half where absolutely nothing happens almost had me pressing the fast forward button but somehow I didn’t and just wanted to see if the rest of the film was going to get better but of course it didn’t.

The director spends too much time getting us to like the couple in the movie, but honestly does a terrible job. The opening sets the stage for what might look like a terrific movie. A 911 call saying “there is blood everywhere”.

Really? After seeing the movie I expect to only see blood in two places, not exactly everywhere. The movie has no plot and is completely hard to get involved with any of the characters since most of the time they just end up staring into space, or just wondering off late at night leaving the other person alone and defenseless.

The story begins by developing the relationship between it’s two stars, then separating them and introducing the terror. This worked at first in it’s ability to set up and keep the viewers in suspense.

Unfortunately, after we have established what is taking place, the story seems to slow down and eventually fizzles out. The second half of the film is filled with horror movie cliché’s and cheap scare tactics that fall flat on it’s face, almost to the point of boredom.

Don’t bother with this film, if you want better suspense/horror flicks then check out Vacancy, Silence of The Lambs, Eden Lake or Funny Games (the original not the remake) instead. Any of those other enjoyable and creepy films would be a heck of alot better then wasting your time with this.

Everyone that says this movie is the same as Vacancy don’t really know their facts, and the ones that compare it to other horror films really don’t understand it. Yes, it is kind of a slow moving movie.

Its not an action pack thriller like other horror movies that force the jump out of you. as said in special features it is better categorized as a terror film. Induces terror of the viewer, fear. Its not a grotesque film like Saw, My Bloody Valentine or Friday the 13th.

Both the actors, Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, do a fine job of acting. The plot is actually more complex then you may think, if you know some things. It is loosely based on actually murders where not much is known of what actually happened.

So making a movie based on an event where not a lot of information is available, is quite challenging. I believe it was a well done movie, slightly based on true events, with good acting.

The billing for this R-Rated film was that it might (May) prevent you from ever going home again! It really only put me to sleep faster knowing what was going to happen and have to sit through a bunch of romantic (smoochy smoochy) stuff just to get to the main film plot.

It was really interesting at the end when it became daylight again. The sleepiness usually is a sign of poor situational decisions that are supposed to build on any initial tensions, but the editing was a tad bit off, although the ending was found by me to be a wee bit creepy.

Here is a ****************************** Spoiler ************************************! I also didn’t like it that the dude’s friend comes in and gets blown away by the other friend dude. It really made me angry that they would be so stupid after being so terrified to be careless.

I have been reading my Bible since 2005 at a Christian Writers Conference where Becky Tirabassi encouraged attendees to use the “Change your life Daily Bible.

” She had a similar way of prayer through her prayer partner notebook that is an online daily appointment with the king. Where one spends an hour a day reading from the Old Testament, New Testament, psalms, and proverbs.

Then we journal 📓 time thanking God, praising God, asking God to help us examine our soul, our actions, our motivations, and our mistakes. A section to pray for families and loved ones and a section to listen to the Holy Spirit daily and be led to write a card, back a cake, share a testimony, make a phone call and daily share the beautiful Agape Love we receive in this SACRED time with the King.

This is the second Ann Voskamp study that I have participated in. The first, The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas was in December 2020. From the first page I was blown away! There are sections that I have already re-read multiple times because of the impact they have on me.

I started my journey reading WayMaker this morning. Anne’s writing style resonates with my soul as I am a deep thinker. I love how she guides my thoughts to look for The Waymaker to say, “hineni. ” Get this book if you are doing the study guide and videos.

This is the classic album that brought Willie Nelson to mainstream attention. Good songs, great musicians, classic country, and love songs. And what is wrong with a few more love songs? Willie is always good, and this album is one of his very best.

I purchased this CD as a suprise “Thank You” gift for an acquaintance of mine. She LOVES Willie!! I found out that she had been wanting this particular album for quite sometime, so I decided to try and track it down.

Thankfully, I didn’t have to look very far. You should’ve seen the look on her face when I gave it to her 🙂 Anyway, the package arrived in a very timely manner, and you can’t beat the price. Thank you Walmart!.

A clean Willie Nelson CD. What’s not to love.

I had the book recommended by a trusted friend who is an avid reader of the author’s work. “Wayfaring Stranger ” is an absorbing tale and would advise anyone interested in reading well written American literature to give this novel a chance.

Burke has a character in Weldon Holland who is much like Dave Robicheaux in his other series.

I ordered this book on 24th April,still waiting for it to arrive,so don’t know what it is like.

I loved this movie a lot. It was so scary. I had to take the time during the movie and check all the doors and windows and make sure they were locked. Imagine, it’s late at night, dark outside in the middle of nowhere and you are alone at someone elses house waiting for your boyfriend to return.

All of a sudden there are pounding at the door and it goes on and on. Sounds like a madman out there. You don’t trust what might happen if you open that door. By now you know those people out there is trying to get to you.

But this is just the beginning of the horror yet to come. This movie got from spooky to frightening. The quiet tall man out there wears such a simple canvas bag over his head with two holes for his eyes and another for his mouth.

There are others in cute halloween masks yet they too are so quiet and creepy. The demanding pounding on the door continues. You are trying to keep quiet curled up on the kitchen floor. All at once in the background the tall man in the canvas mask is shown walking behind you.

You don’t realize he has found his way in the house. You want a good scare? Try watching this movie alone in a cabin on a cold windy October night.

I liked The Strangers, because even though I knew what to generally expect from it, it was well-made enough that it still scared me. The story begins when James Hoyt (Scott Speedsman) and Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler) arrive at James’s parents’ cabin in the woods in the early hours of the morning.

They are uncomfortable with each other, because although they love each other, James has just proposed to Kristen, who said no, claiming that it was too soon. Shortly after they arrive, a knock comes at the door, which instantly puts the couple on edge, since it is just past four in the morning.

Upon answering the door, they find a young girl (whose face is hidden in darkness due to a light being out) who asks for Tamera. The couple tell her that she has the wrong house, and she responds “see you later” and leaves.

James leaves for a little while to get some things, and this is when things get frightening. Strange noises and occurences start to fill the house when Kristen isn’t looking, and three mysterious masked figures begins to scare Kristen, initially from oustide the house, and soon from all over the place.

James’s return does nothing to stop these events, and the strnagers’ terrifying games becomes increasingly bold and dangerous. A lot of the fear in the film is caused by the idea that much of what the strangers do to scare the couple is done right under their noses simply when they are not paying attention.

It is easy for the viewer to imagine the same thing happening to them, because after all, how much of our time do we spend focusing so much on specific things and ignoring what’s going on around us? The acting was good in the film, although it must be said that much of Liv Tyler’s role involves screaming and being scared, and that toward the end of the film it becomes somewhat annoying that she really doesn’t seem to grasp what’s happening to her.

Speedsman on the other hand takes most of what is happening to him with great restraint, which made him easier for me to sympathize with. Others may disagreee. The one thing that truly annoyed me with the film was the choices that the protagonists make, which at time seem either totally illogical or just downright ignorant.

For example, for a while they gett James’s dad’s gun and hold out in a closet, which offers them the opportunity to stake out until the invaders come in to get them and just pick them off easily enough.

However, another shock comes for the characters, and they inexplicably leave their spot and once more go on the move. It seemed like a bad move. Nonetheless, this movie definitely scared me, and was generally well-made.

The look of the film was expecially just dark enough without being hard to see. Also, direcctor Bryan Bertino wisely kept the strangers as silent boogeymen rather than brutal aggressors for most of the film, which just added to the tnesion.

I recommend you see it. Just be wary of its failings.

If you’re looking for gore, blood, and nothing but torture, this isn’t the film that you should be watching. This movie is a horror film and a classic in its generation not because of how much blood we can see splattered across the screen, but because the suspense and realistic aspect of it all is what’s scariest.

You’re dealing with a real situation of home invasion and murder. It happens everyday and it happens to anyone, thus the basis of this movie’s appeal. This isn’t a fairytale horror genre movie where you see the good guy survive by killing off the bad guy.

I loved this movie for the simple fact that despite the masks on the killers, it truly shows the realism of what could truly happen to two completely innocent individuals who get caught up in a horrific situation.

This book is just enchanting! The beautiful photography takes us on a journey through the eyes and ears of the forest creatures as they make a wondrous discovery. I have purchased this particular copy for my 4 year old grand daughter, but I have purchased it in the past for a 94 year old friend who is a true nature lover.

At an age somewhere between the two, I wish someone would purchase a copy for me!.

I bought this for my seven year old son and we love reading it! We’ve always enjoyed books more that had “real” photographs of people and animals. The pictures in this one are amazing! Not only are the pages enjoyable to look at but it also has a really cute story too.

Every animal is named which is a good teaching tool also. Wish I’d known about this book several years ago as I know my son would’ve enjoyed it at a much younger age as well. It’s become my new coffee table book and anyone that comes into my home is truly taken by it.

I bought this award winning book for my Grandson. It is a beautiful book about a snowman and nature. The photograghs are real and capture the animals couriosity in striking poses. I love this book. My Grandson is 2, he also loved it, but would reccomend this book for all ages , or just to set on your coffee table in the winter months.

Wonderful and delighful conversation piece. The price was great, it was in good shape, and you hardly ever see this on sale in the local stores.

Had to reread this book about a stranger who comes to Earth and challenges customs relating to sex, death, religion, and money. The book became an icon of the 1960s counterculture, and it won the prestigious Hugo Award for best novel in 1962.

Yet it was banned in some schools.

I read Stranger in a Strange Land many years ago. It helped to shape my own personal philosophy. which is basically what it is. Philosophy wrapped in a wonderful, intricate, interesting tale. Some science Fiction is all about the science.

not a bad thing, but this goes beyond to offer basic insights into humanity. I did not forget the core values, but re-read for the ‘refresher course’ and to remember a beautiful story. If you haven’t read it, now is the time to do so.

I read this about 45 years ago, and it had a big impact on me then. Reading it again from a grown-up perspective has not diminished its uniqueness. It’s a true sci-fi classic. Brilliant story.

My second purchase of Macfarlane’s works which fit with my own work as a Deep Fantasy author. He sees the other hidden world that is all around us in all its mystery and beauty and makes it accessible to the general reader in words more poetry than prose, that carry us along as effortlessly as his feet carry him on his own and, in a sense, all our journeys.

This book is many things. it gives very clear descriptions of the paths travelled and it is the way he writes and describes the terrain over which he travels. It is poetic, beautiful and meta=physical.

This book was a trip! I finished it in just under two days; even at 299 pages, it was a relatively quick read. This was likely because the entire story takes place within a single car ride. Glimpses into Mira’s stalkerish letters, certain missing car items, and overall weird behavior of the passengers just upped the thrill factor that much more! I did guess a few of the reveals and the ultimate culprit pretty early on but enjoyed the trip nonetheless.

I can’t even imagine getting into a car with a single stranger, let alone five – during a snow storm, no less! This was one wild and entertaining ride! I enjoyed it with my iced coffee, as I couldn’t very well cozy up in the non-existent AZ snow! Thank you to the Sourcebooks Early Reads program for my free copy.

Five Total Strangers by Natalie D. Richards was a fast-paced and engaging page-turner that had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next. With all the flights to Pittsburgh canceled, Mira accepts a ride home with four other total strangers.

On the drive though, it seems that everything that could go wrong though does. And it seems to be due to more than just the blizzard, one of the passengers is intentionally sabotaging the trip. Will Mira make it back home for Christmas safely or will nefarious plans get in the way? Overall, I think Richards did a great job at making you wonder which of the suspects was the actual villain.

There were a lot of twists and turns that made every character the number one suspect at some point in the story. Thank you to the publisher the gifted copy through the Sourcebooks Early Reads program.

Psychologically damaging, to say the least. The storyline was nicely compiled and the diverse characters made it an enjoyable experience. That being said, you’ll probably guess who the bad guy is almost immediately.

Lovely stem, does it’s job well, I’ve always preferred top loader stems and this fits the bill nicely, I love its look and feel and adds to my bmx in a special way, all though I’ve only run this stem for just over a week I love it to bits and I have no doubts on how it will perform in the future.

Probably the most beautiful stem going. The oil slick colourway is really amazing. One second its purple green and yellow next its blue and purple. Really smooth look and feels great. Actually having the stem in person is amazing.
