I believe the Tineco S5 Extreme is an essential household appliance for anyone with kids, pets, or both. It’s a good-looking device, has a fantastic battery life, a useable app function, sweeps and cleans the floors very well, and is easy to maintain thanks to the auto-cleaning mode and fully washable bins.

When you unbox the Tineco S5, you’ll have a few things to put together, which isn’t too bad. The bonus part though is you’ll get three brushheads and two filters out of the gate, which makes it easy to use daily.

The only real maintenance that you need to keep up with is running the auto cleaning mode, which automatically cleans your brushhead after use. Then, you’ll want to rinse out the dirty water bin and filter to keep those clean.

If you don’t, or forget to empty the dirty water bin after a use, it will start to smell. Emptying is easy, but just make sure you do it! Now, as far as using the appliance, it’s pretty straightforward: there are three modes, auto, suction, and max.

Auto mode works decent, as it auto-detects areas of your floor that needs more water and power to clean. I prefer to just clean my floors with max mode, though, as it really seems to pick up more than the auto mode does.

Suction mode is designed to work to quickly clean up spills of any liquid. This mode also was good, but not great. It works but was a little clunky to use at first. The biggest thing is that you’ll need a fully clean water bin and brushhead to really make use of it, which means on-the-fly spills may not be as cut and dry to pick up.

You’ll also find that all this cleaning, even in max mode, is pretty light on the battery life. My main areas of cleaning is my kitchen and dining. These two spots are about 400 sq. ft. , and one run on only max mode will use about 20% of the battery.

It’s hard to imagine a house big enough to completely drain the battery in one use. Once you’re done, plopping it back onto the charging dock will get it charged in about two-three hours from fully depleted.

The only real cons are that the stand is a bit cumbersome and the auto mode isn’t perfect. The stand is hard to figure out how else you might combine the charger and auto cleaning mode in one, so I can’t fault Tineco too much.

As for auto mode, it works as it should; sometimes, though, I just wished more water would come out more frequently like you see in the Max mode by default. I also haven’t tried it, but it would be nice to know if there were at least a few other cleaning solutions recommended to use, third-party-wise.

Overall, this is a great product that actually cleans and does what is advertised.

This is a different type of floor cleaner than I had before. What interest me in this product was the versatility, and the “self-cleaning” feature. Coming from a variety of vacuums (upright, handheld, canister).

I had never used one that was a wet-vac, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, other than this seemed like a good option on my hardwood floor and the bathrooms. When I first received the Shark Hydrovac, I was pleased to find that it would not take me a half hour to assemble.

There was very little in the box – the main vacuum unit, the handle and it’s pole, the cleaner concentrate, and the instructions. That’s it. Hanging from the handle was a little card on a piece of string with a QR code.

This takes you to the Shark website where they have a couple of videos that walk you through what the Hydrovac can do and how to use it. Watch this! It’s much easier to learn this way. The Hydrovac has two water canisters.

One is for the reservoir, which you mix fresh water and the cleaner concentrate The other is a separate canister that is divided into two sections – one for waste water, and the other for solid debris.

It took me a moment to understand how this works and where you would poor out the waste water (the video isn’t very clear about this part, but all of this comes apart making it easy to clean. When you are done, you simply remove both canisters, poor out the water and rinse them out.

Dump out the solid debris container after pouring out the waste water so that you can then separate them to clean. It was at this point that I realized that the 3-in-1 phrase is referring to simultaneous features, not separate.

I’m not going to be using this to vacuum the carpet in my living room. I’m not sure what my expectation was in terms of cleaning, but I found the Hydrovac to be more of mop than a vacuum, although it does function as a vacuum.

The picture you see in all of their marketing and demos is the perfect use case. You have a bowl of cereal with milk spilled on the floor, and this will vacuum up the cereal AND the liquid, and then “wipe” the floor up to remove any milk residue that would become sticky.

On something like an area rug, which it does clean, the use case might be a little different. Note that they refer to it as an area rug, so I think they are referring to a low-pile carpet, not likely the installed carpet that you have in bedrooms, living rooms, etc.

Depending on what might be spilled on an area rug, you might be able to use this to clean up solid debris, but you would likely need paper towels or a rag to soak up liquid as well, since this is not going to soak up absorbed liquid.

If you have a small area rug in an entryway like I do (front and back door), this is perfect for just day-to-day dirt that gets built up on it, if used regularly. It’s basically like a mop with a built in vacuum, and takes a lot let effort to use since it has a spinning roller.

Oh, and by the way, it’s cordless, which is critical when using any kind of mop. You don’t want to have to walk on the still-wet floor to unplug the cord and move it elsewhere! Overall, I felt that the Hydrovac functioned best on my hardwood, tile, and linoleum floors (I have all three in my home).

My downstairs is all hardwood, and especially in the kitchen where I might have crumbs, drips, water spots, or even sticky areas, this is a fantastic go-to floor cleaner to get all of that in one pass.

I used to have to vacuum, and then mop (usually with a Swiffer) to do the same job. Again, it’s like a mope with a built-in vacuum cleaner. In keeping expectations in line, it will clean like a Swiffer wet mop, but it is not going to look like the professionals were cleaning in your home.

However, this is where it gets tricky. When prepping the Hydrovac, you fill a reservoir with water and the concentrate (it has fill lines to guide you). this canister does stand on it’s own, but because of the way it’s designed into the vacuum unit, the base is angled, so it doesn’t sit straight (like a glass of water would).

You’ll need a steady hand to hold the canister up to make sure you are measuring to the marks on the container. Now at the time of my writing this, the concentrate, which they do include a small bottle of in the box, is roughly $20 and a little hard to find (the retail bottle is much bigger than the one they include in the box).

So this is where I might say that if I am dealing with a spilled bowl of cereal on the floor, I’m not sure I want to mix up all of that to clean a small 3’x3′ area. Shark does recommend a full automated cleaning when you are through.

If I’m going to use all of that concentrate, I would end up needing to clean all of my floors until I’ve used most of the reservoir in order not to waste it. That doesn’t seem worth it for a small mess.

Note that I said “most of the reservoir”. That is because Shark says to make sure it is half full before you return it to the charging base and run the automated-cleaning cycle. On one occasion, I did have less water than half, and it still had enough to do this cleaning, but as I got to know the device, I had an occasion where it ran out and I had to refill it to complete the cleaning cycle.

You are supposed to have the cleaning concentrate in there as part of this cleaning cycle, so now what? I ended up waiting until the next day and filled the reservoir, then ran the cleaning cycle, and then did another floor cleaning (and ran the cleaning cycle again).

This might be a great tool if you find that your floors need mopping almost everyday with foot traffic, pets, kids, etc. The Hydrovac is more of a glorified mop than anything else, albeit with a built-in vacuum cleaner.

However, if you are not having to do this on a frequent basis, the Hydrovac might be a little expensive for the limited use you may get out of it. As someone with respiratory issues that finds mopping an entire floor of hardwood very difficult, this is perfect for me! However, If you use housework as your form of exercise, or your home doesn’t get dirty very quickly, this may be overkill for your needs.

The Shark HydroVac™ Cordless Pro XL 3-in-1 multi-surface cleaner has to be one of my favorite Shark products ever. The Vacumop has truly made cleaning my hard floors a breeze and to be honest my floors have never looked so clean.

The Vacumop is extremely easy to assemble, arriving in just two pieces, with the handle clicking on easily, it also arrives with a charging station which is holds the machine up securely while charging.

Also included is a cleaning concentrate, which you add to water, the cleaner smells absolutely amazing and makes my house smell absolutely amazing after use. There are three settings, hard floor cleaner, rug cleaner and vacuum and you just need to hit the top button on the handle to select mode, which lights up on the machine, super simple and easy to do.

The cleaning provided by this product is fantastic, yes if your floors are super dirty you may need to go over them twice, but I would do that with a regular mop, so this just makes it super easy and so much less work.

Now I just sweep and mop at the same time, far less time consuming and so much less work, the product makes clean floors effortless. Even better the product cleans itself, just ensure the waste bin is empty, ( I like to rinse it out, though this is probably not needed) make sure the water reservoir is full and hit on once when the prod ut is docked, super easy, super quick, nice clean mop.

You can also easily get the the roller by removing the front to ensure that any debris that might accumulate is easily removed. The product is made from extremely high-quality materials and will last a long time, replacement rollers and cleaning solution is easy to reorder and there is a qr code provided to make it even simpler.

This is a product that I thoroughly recommend to others, it is a pleasure to use and my floors have never looked so clean.

I love Shark products and I had high hopes for this HydroVac, as it has the potential for turning two jobs into one. We have used it several times and it’s always the same result, doesn’t pick up everything doesn’t quite clean the floors.

According to the helpful videos that were provided via QR code, the HydroVac should be able to pick up normal trash like pieces of candy, dirt debris, cereal like a normal vacuum would, this doesn’t.

With kids in the house and those literal things on the floor along with pet hair and normal dirt, it only picked up about half the dirt none of the candy, although it did rub the color off one piece.

I would prefer to use the Shark robot to pick up the debris. I also don’t feel that it does a great job with cleaning the floor, like a traditional mop would. It sort of just lightly washes it. I do love that it can clean the carpet somewhat, it’s not a deep cleaner but it does clean and sanitize it to a degree.

I do like that there are lights on it to help you see in areas that may be dark and I also love that it self cleans and that it’s cordless. One the other side of that however, it’s very noisy when in use and you really have to control it because it seems to go on it’s own (has quite a motor on it.

The emptying process is fairly easy as you just empty the dirty water from the back and then empty the debris that is picked up in the trash. Emptying the debris can be a little difficult since it’s wet and tends to stick to the container.

Twice as worse if it’s pet hair. All in all the HydroVac has the potential to be a great product to replace mopping and sweeping/vacuuming but it’s not there yet. I think this will be extra useful for a household that maybe doesn’t have as much traffic and activity.

I wouldn’t recommend it necessarily for a busy household.

I recently upgraded my fleet of two Debots to the Shark AI and have found some very impressive design considerations and improvements by Shark. Setting up the robot is a breeze especially due to its voice prompts.

The Shark is a 2. 4 GHz WiFi device and was able to join my 2. 4 band natively and without me having to disable the 5 GHz dual band, which I appreciated. After I was up and running it next mapped my home and detected which floors contained carpet.

I have to say that the mapping was the most accurate I have experienced with robot vacuums and is a very accurate match to my home’s actual floorplan/blueprints. The LIDAR navigation enables the robot to intelligently navigate without constant collisions, and I found that it is very adept at managing unexpected obstacles, such as dog toys left out on the floor.

Prior vacuums would push these unexpected items or get caught on them, but the Shark navigates around them without issue. While the roller is not as large as some others I have experienced, actual vacuum performance is every bit just as good which was a surprise.

A significant win for Shark is that it has a self-cleaning brush roll that eliminates getting bogged down by hair and lint – with long haired pets this has been a real issue in past vacuums but not so far with Shark! The vacuum can operate at different intensity modes, but unfortunately these are not selectable options when scheduling the vacuum to run on its own.

Related, I have noticed that the app says that it will take 5 minutes to clean my 800 square foot main level, but it is more like 30-40 minutes. When the level have been cleaned, I still have about 30-40% battery life.

The app only sends push notices for errors and not of completion, which I love and I will say that this robot is the most self-sufficient one I have owned. Mopping is also excellent and intelligent, with zero cleaning fluid discharged onto carpeted surfaces.

Overall I am very impressed with the vacuum and love the improvements Shark has introduced.

I’ve always had my doubts about this style of vacuum, always thinking that they would be underpowered and not up to the task of cleaning my home adequately. With that in mind, I was ready to try the Shark Ultra 2-in-1 on the carpeted second level of my home.

Unboxing the vacuum was a simple task and, after minimal assembly (4 steps in all), after downloading the app, I was ready to send my new robo-vac off to investigate the entire floor. The first step entails the vacuum going around to “map out” the floor.

This step was interesting to watch as the vacuum made its way around the entire floor of the house “learning” where objects and items were. What I wasn’t prepared for was that, after mapping out the floorplan, the app asked me several questions about locations that might be “off limits” or where there might be area rugs.

Luckily for me, the entire level is carpeted (other than two bathrooms) and I was able to move past those questions. If you will be using the wet-clean feather (i. e. a combination of hard floor surfaces, area rugs, carpet) you will have the ability to control what cleaning function the Shark AI performs in each of those areas! Once I had approved the floor layout I sent the vacuum off on its maiden voyage.

It doe’s bump around a little bit as it works its way around doors and other obstacles but, man does this thing get the job done! Because of its low profile, the vacuum can go under beds, chairs, and elevated dressers with ease.

It goes about its cleaning job and easily cleans the entire floor area thoroughly. After using the vacuum for a few weeks (I program it to make one entire pass of the 2nd floor of the house every weekday) I am a believer in the Shar AI Ultra! It is great to get done with work and have the upstairs bedrooms/bathrooms freshly vacuumed every day.

I have gone through several different products trying to find something that will actually vacuum, steam & CLEAN my floor. All the products I’ve tried anyways end up doing the same thing; collecting debris, adding it to and creating dirty water, and then push then push it all around my house.

This product is by far impressive!! Not only does it collect debris efficiently, it keeps it separate from the wet mess others others have created. And even better it allows you to use it as a vacuum and a steamer separately, as well as together.

Most of the products I’ve had in the past have always been very weak as well. Causing to frequently go over and over those really hard spots in my floor which had totally destroyed most of my hardwood.

The suction is extremely powerful and with a few clicks of the trigger the steamer erases those hard spots with one or 2 toys. This product has cut my cleaning in half and saved the rest of my floor.

Bought this ti replace an old 1940 (steam mop). I vacuumed thrn mopped, so this seemed like a perfect combination. Unfortunately the combination mop / vacuum mop ended up being worse than buying separately.

First, the steam function is very quiet (good) so its hard to tell if its on or not, as a result holding the mop “on” trigger bacame laborious. I couldnt tell if the steam function was on causing me to squeeze harder and harder, then constantly letting go just to see if its on.

The 1940 is on the entire time (simple). Next, very little steam actually came out when compared to the old 1940 impacting the mops capability to pickup dirt. After cleaning my kitchen tile it did a great job of vacuuming dirt, but the mop cloth head was only 20% dirty.

Unsure it its faulty or working as designed. Returned and bought another 1940.

This product is AMAZING and a COMPLETE TIME SAVER. I can say at first I was VERY SKEPTICAL. No way could this sweep and mop at the same time! I was wrong. Why cover the same area twice when you can sweep and mop AT THE SAME TIME.

It’s quick and EASY and you have the choice of using the washable cloth or the disposable cleaning pad! I have used both and they work great. No cleaning solution need as you use hot steam to clean the floors but they do make scented pads but WHO NEEDS THAT! If you have kids, short on time or simply don’t want to spend hours sweeping then mopping this is the product to use!! Works on ALL FLOOR SURFACES.

I use it for hardwood and ceramic tile floors. Just be careful not to leave it on your wood floor as the steam will turn it white. No worries. It came off with a little wax.

I had owned a small cordless Shark Navigator for years and in 2019 I decided to move up to this model. It’s terrible and I hardly ever use it, instead I use the old one. The Shark Ion doesn’t pick up well at all, especially cat litter.

Not much of the pet hair goes into the tank, most of it is stuck in the brushes and the orange material so I have to stop repeatedly and clean it off by hand. The worst part is when I turn off the vac all the debris that didn’t make it into the tank and is still in the tubing because of its poor sucking power falls out and makes a big mess on the floor.

It’s definitely not the vacuum for pet owners. It’s also very clumsy to fold and unfold and hart to pull off the canister to empty it. And yes, I’ve taken it apart several times thinking there might be a clog somewhere but there isn’t.

And I keep it clean. It did not work well out of the box.

This vacuums is enough for my daily messes and to keep things clean on a regular basis. It charges quickly, and has a great suction in wooden floors. It is real very light to move easy in my apartment.

I have an old corded vacuum cleaner, and it gives me a headache every time when I saw a bunch of cords tangled together. So I got a new cordless vacuum cleaner from Walmart and it’s great, I can move it around and I don’t have to worry about how to store the cords anymore.

After comparing many sellers, I finally chose this vacuum cleaner from BTMWAY. It’s easy to use and with only 2 replacement heads, it’s more than enough to deal with my daily cleaning.

I found Makita’s stick vac product line confusing. This one is the bagged and brushless version, which is what we were after for around the house use (supplementing a robot), reno use (drywall dust that doesn’t warrant getting the big one out), and car use.

For any one of those uses, this thing is overpriced relative to other options. But I don’t want another battery system to keep track of. Now that we’ve got it, we’re really happy with it. Suction is better than expected, particularly on our hard floors.

Still not sure this would be the right product for carpet, but fortunately I don’t have to worry about that.

We wanted a cordless hand vacuum that offered good suction, replaceable batteries, reasonable weight, adaptability, and high quality build. This Makita delivers it all! It’s light weight and well balanced, the rubberized handgrip is a plus.

This is a light-duty device, an 18v version of the 12v cordless car vacs from 30 years ago, but excellent quality: the smooth sound of the motor says all. Perfect for a home office that may see an accumulation of dust on shelves but not heavy debris.

Motor kicks in smartly and quietly. The main canister looks breakable if you overexercise the opening to the long black tube. Ideally it should have come with a brush. I’d even have settled for an adapter (3″ length of 1 1/4″ OD pipe would do it) that would make it interoperable with ShopVac brushes.

I fashioned one out of card and duct tape. The floor tool is not something I use: it hardly has the suction to spread out like that. It has a squeegee on the bottom rather than a brush. Made in Romania.
