I had gotten this microphone due to one of my friend having done his research on it and he sounds amazing with it. Another friend purchased one for herself and also sounds amazingly clear so I had to get one myself.

The box came very beat up which made me assume the product probably wasn’t new like it was listed as but everything was still in plastic and the box sealed. I shouldn’t have expected much since it was just put into a plastic mailer, but the product was undamaged and seems to work great, which is all I’m worried about when it comes to beaten boxes.

It shipped out fast as a plus and got to me quick. Would buy from this shop again!.

I bought this microphone to use with my MacBook. I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleased to find that this mic is solid and not light weight plastic. It has the same feel as my old Shure dynamic mic.

I read where someone had broken the USB connector on their mic, but it must have been from careless handling. The volume control looks like a wheel, but it’s actually a momentary switch with two directions, one way increase and the other way decrease.

It came with both a USB cable and an XLR cable. It produces a nice tone , but as with all dynamic mics you can’t whisper and expect it to pick up much. Speak up like you want to be heard and it will do the trick.

I had to use a dongle to go from USB 2. 0 to USB type C, but there was no problem getting it hooked up to the MacBook. Great price for a good microphone. I would buy again.

Purchased this dynamic mic to use with Zoom. Been using the built-in laptop or that of a web cam, but those have had very inconsistent performance, especially when the environment is noisy. This mic has solved my problem.

Bought this to replace my old (and expensive) Rode NT-USB. Much smaller footprint, and a breeze to set up. Elgato generally makes exceptionally user friendly gear anyway, so I didn’t anticipate any problems and that proved to be true.

The only big caveat I have with Elgato gear is availability – they’re almost never in stock, at least not the premium feature versions (like Wave 3, StreamDeck XL, etc) however the Wave 1 was available same day.

I do find that accessories are a real pain to get hold of and there’s an element of nickel and dime-ing in the way they sell must haves as addon – in this case having to purchase both the shock mount and the pop filter (both absolute must haves for recording and streaming) makes for a high end total package price along with availaibility issues.

(dropped a star because of this aspect) However, without wanting to sound like an Elgato shill, I’m impressed with this mic. Just try and have everything organised to get the mic, shock mount and pop filter all at the same time.

I purchased a Wave:1 a few months ago, as I’m planning on steaming soon and needed a Mic, as I didn’t have one. I did a bit of research and the Wave series had just come out. The reviews were all good and it seemed like the product I needed.

Basically, idiot proof! Once you get to grips with the software it’s a doddle to use. Just add your sources, balance your audio mix using the sliders and away you go! I would recommend watching a few videos on how to setup, helped me massively.

Although I’m more than proficient with I. T. I’m not a sound engineer! This is partly why I went for the Wave, the fact I can setup everything in the software and then link that to Streamlabs is a big plus, for a novice steamer – at a more than reasonable price.

It also saves you needing to buy a mixer as the software does the same job! It’s also come in handy for online meetings. I’ve had an interview for a coding course and a job interview recently. On each interview the quality of the audio was mentioned, as they were used to people having “built-in” mics or cheap headsets.

I decided to replace a very high end competitor mic with the wave one because I was interested in the tech behind it as well as the software that came with it. I figured at such an affordable price I could take the risk.

What a great move!! I was blown away at the mic quality! For that price I didn’t expect it to out perform my older more expensive mic! And the software is everything I had hoped for as it allows me to fine tune all the different audio I have.

It makes it easy to find and adjust everything from party chat, game sounds, video, and music. It’s not even just for streaming as I use it for any instance of multitasking when at the pc. By far my favorite purchase from Elgato.

This is a great microphone with fantastic sound. I use it for hours daily on video conferences, and it’s almost perfect for that. Design is unobtrusive, it’s just small enough to not stick out. The direct monitoring is great to avoid shouting into the microphone.

Very low background noise, from both the microphone and air movement. It does however easily pick up keyboard noises, so placement is crucial. It will also faithfully record crying children or other “true” noises, so it’s not suitable for loud environments.

Headphone output is very convenient to avoid extra cables and devices, I plug my SE215 in there, which gives me outstanding sound in both directions. One downside, apart from the keyboard noise, is that the status indicators, including the muting indicator, are on the backside of the microphone, and are not visible when setup correctly.

At the same time, the muting function is the only way to disable the ambient pickup from the monitoring function, which is good for listening to music. So between meetings, I often mute the microphone to listen to music without background noise, but then forget to turn it back on because the flashing indicator lights are not visible.

Would be much better to have a muting indicator at the front to avoid the frantic “Is the correct sound source connected? Which of the 3 mute points are active now?” debugging at the beginning of the next meeting.

I would also like the volume adjustment wheel to be a bit less recessed. There’s really no good reason for it to be that deep in the housing, there’s very little risk of accidentally turning it at its location, but it can take a couple of tries to try to adjust the volume with anything but the thinnest fingers.

B&H mistakenly describes this as a side-address, it is more of a top address mic, although a spherical shape is confusing in this regard. Many reviewers mention that this mic is an improvement on bud or laptop mics, which is really quite useless, the mic should be compared to other external mics.

I agree that the cables are really from another era, so stiff and unwieldy as to be a hindrance to proper mic use. This is an important ergonomic oversight, it’s a shame they went for the cheapest possible solution.

I likewise find the mute button is a major failure. First, the circuit breaker comes AFTER the click which locks it, meaning that you cannot mute the mic without an audible click being heard on the line.

Stupendously stupid choice. The flashing led warning that you have muted the mic are invisible to the speaker, as they are all situated in BACK of the mic. Again, real dumb. Finally, the DSP mode button is right beside the tiny mute one, in back of the mic, and when you are under cognitive load while streaming or recording, and you have to cough, it is really unpleasant to have no clear, easy and failsafe button to mute, you have to fiddle in back of the mic, with not visual feedback you have succeeded, it is amazinly ill thought out.

On the upside, the fact it has a normal camera tripod threading is really a good idea, any mini tripod is way better than the stand it comes with, as you can angle the mic in a much wider arc. Voil!.

I purchased this microphone when I was searching for a solution for a podcast I am a part of. I did a lot of research and I never considered Shure because the options I knew of were out of my price range.

I was looking mostly at the famous Yeti. But then I came across the MV5 at a music store and purchased it. The versatility of using it with a computer or iPhone allowed me to record not only the podcast but sound recording with my son’s cello playing.

The aesthetics are fantastic, and I was happy to get the black/red one. Also, it has a standard mounting plug so I used it with a regular camera tripod when I started using it then moved to the desk stand included.

It has proven to be very high quality on my recordings and very flexible. I coupled it with the companion iPhone app and was able to get the levels just right by looking at the gain graph and position the microphone to avoid distortion.

This microphone has proven to be a fantastic purchase. Now my other son is into streaming and YouTube so I think I will get one for him as well. I had it paired with my SE425’s but when my wife gave me the RMCE-TW1 I had to change my monitoring headphones.

Feels I should have at least 215’s instead of the Sony ones I have, probably in the future.

This is my favorite mic model that I used for 10 years running in a traveling rock band with many drops and no failures. The gold standard of live vocal amplification! The on-off switch is a nice option, and this can be locked in the on position by reversing a metal tab and tightening a screw.

Although not mentioned in the ad, this mic comes with a factory clip and vinyl zipper carrying bag. The stand is very sturdy and steady. much more than I expected. The 20 foot cord works great with nice cable flexibility.

If you desire a better quality cord, you can always use this for a backup. This is an unbeatable deal.

When I was in undergrad in 2003, I took a music technology class, where I was told that if I wanted a great mic for a reasonable price, the Shure SM 58 was the way to go. It was great for vocals, but could be used for just about anything well.

Naturally, when I needed a mic, I took that advice. In fact, I bought 3. They have been outstanding. A few months ago, my Grad School hosted a 1. 5 hour virtual class on great equipment to use to get the best sound.

They mentioned a few great mics, but once again, the Shure SM 58 came up as the best for all-around usage. One of the course instructors explained that he has helped record entire albums for prominent artists using this affordable microphone.

My friend and voice student also attended that class. He has never owned a proper mic, so I ordered him one for Christmas. He was delighted. Amazing that after nearly 20 years, the advice I got is still the same.

Bought this mic about 3 years ago and still like it. Gives a crisp and balanced sound with just the right level of bass for my fairly deep voice. Can suffer from a bit of background hiss which can mostly be addressed by adjusting the gain and doing a touch of post-processing.

You generally can’t expect a USB mic to sound as good as a similarly-priced XLR model, but if you want the convenience of plug-and-play, the Meteor is still the boss of USB microphones at its price point (that’s my opinion anyway from having watched dozens upon dozens of reviews).

It also comes with a mute button and 3. 5mm headphone monitoring jack, both of which some other ‘budget’ USB mics skimp on. Given that this is a condenser mic, keep in mind that it is *very* sensitive to background noise, so if you’re going to use it for conference calls make sure you’re in a quiet room.

It’s also worth noting that the legs can be removed (using small screwdrivers) for convenient mounting on a boom arm or stand, which I would recommended for quality tuning and eliminating echo.

As a audio engineering student. Sound quality is great! the mic is compact and also looks cool which is a bonus. It comes with a nice velvet bag for storage. It has a cardioid pick up pattern. Definetly read the instructions for set up as it specifies to go into your computer audio settings and connected devices options, so that you can record and hear everything properly.

This is super easy to do!!! I use this for radio/ podcasting purposes both in and outside of my classes. I also use Audacity as a editing software to fine tune my sound. I highly recommend this mic as a beginner.

Even with out some minor editing, the sound is great! positioning the mic about 18 inches (give or take) ensures that the audio is not too loud. This is just a personal experience / trial and error distance of course.

I bought a couple of different microphones for recording my classical guitar lessons. I have an inexpensive video camera. For me, the problem with inexpensive video cameras is the lack of an external microphone jack.

In my opinion, the inexpensive camcorders have good enough video for recording my classical guitar lessons. Actually, most of the time for my video, I use an inexpensive point-and-shoot camera with movie option.

In my application, I want a really good sound recording. I record my lessons with the video from an inexpensive camera and the sound with this nice microphone. I really like this microphone. It has hardly any background noise.

But, it picks up a really nice sound from my guitar from about 3 feet away. I just replace the sound from the inexpensive camera with this nice microphone.

Plug and play. Will need a pop-filter or windscreen though to minimize plosives. Also might need a shock mount depending on how you decide to use it.

A microphone I have fallen in-love with! It records very clean audio and it doesn’t have to be in-front of your mouth. As long as it is pointed in the right direction, you are good to go. Very use to use, pretty much just plug’n’play.

The ability to monitor the microphone input is amazing and very easy to use. Doesn’t pick-up background noise if outside of the “record area”. Comes with a great leatherette carrying pouch and a not tripod stand and a long enough cable so you can start using it right away.

This thing is absolute garbage. Why would you even make a mic with a desk stand that cannot be used unless you put your mouth right up to it? I expected I’d be able to maintain some distance and let this sit on my desk and talk in a google meets or whatever video conference.

Nope. They should forget the stand it give you a lapel clip so you can attach it to your shirt collar because even at that distance it would be suspect. It picks up almost no sound when you speak at it, but it picks up every single time you touch the desk, type a key, or whatever.

And this is with it sitting on a rubber foam mouse pad to insulate it some from vibrations. Sadly I bought this and didn’t have time to install it so it’s past the return period. That part is my fault, but the mic itself is worthless.

There’s no controls on it to adjust the input level. Turned all the way up in windows it gets about 15-17% as a max. Nobody can hear you. People in the reviews talk of a mute button but this doesn’t have one of that that I see.

I got this on sale for $39. 99 but even at full price this is a perfect microphone for gaming or business use. I’m a simple person so I love that it’s plug & play without needing to download additional software that use gimmicky voice changers etc.

It also features one big button at the top to mute/unmute. The microphone is solid red when it’s unmuted and blinks red when muted. The mic sits on my desk with the included holder and the included cable is lengthy so there should be no issue putting it in the perfect spot.

I have no issues with voice quality at all my freinds on Discord were impressed when I told them it’s just a cheap HyperX mic because they have +$100 Yeti mics. If you’re on the fence about this mic this is your sign to pull the trigger!.

Pros: Unless you are a professional, I highly doubt that you’ll be needing any sound better than this. Other than the amazing sound, it has great features such as a tap to mute button, easy and flexible positioning, and good aesthetics.

Cons: You’ll have to figure out a way to put it in your desk. Because it is a condenser mic, it is best to have your mouth close to it, therefore consider a boom arm if there’s no space. Overall, its everything you could ask for.

Great sound quality, great features, worth the money.

This is not a flimsy plastic microphone. It comes on a sturdy metal desk stand; alternately, you can remove it from the stand and screw it onto a professional mike stand. It has excellent voice quality.

I followed through with a recommendation to get a “pop filter” (a nylon screen that hooks over the front of the mike on a metal cable) to reduce the explosive sound of “P’s” and “B’s” when talking close to the mike.

The version I got screws onto the desk stand or can be attached on the shaft of a mike stand. Note that it has a “mute” switch on the front, and that it has an earphone jack so you can listen to the mike directly.

I recommend you buy a USB to Mini-USB cable (note: NOT Micro-USB or Type C USB) from eBay, since these are not commonly available except in electronic specialty stores. You have several choices for the mike’s pattern; I recommend the cardioid pattern, but you can try the stereo version for picking u p two different people talking.

I’ve had this mic now going on 7 years as my daily driver. It’s been beaten, dropped, banged and tossed the paint will show that wear on it. But each time it’s ask to work it works and does so consistently each time.

While I will praise how well this mic has held up over the years, its overall sound quality is okay. No software included or needed, straight plug & play features. The included stand should be thrown away for a proper boom/mount as it will topple over.

You can use software to remove background noise, use editing tools to change the sound but overall the mic does have a tinny sound to it, just slightly. This mic overall will do anything needed, its will do gaming coms, recording, live streaming and everything else well.

Again, personally I get a tinny sound in audio recordings but still clear and that effect can be dealt with in post processing/editing. Overall it’s been a truly wonderful mic Note: I did not buy this item from B&H but wanted to share my thoughts and overall experience with it.

I do voice-overs for instructional DVDs and online videos. I had previously used a headset microphone, and was getting tired of all the trouble I had to go to to get reasonably clean audio. It seemed to pick up everything, and it had to be positioned on my head perfectly and I had to stand absolutely still while recording so the plastic parts wouldn’t move and be picked up in the audio.

Those might be okay for Skype, but they’re not good for professional recording. I decided to upgrade to a more professional setup and while doing some research I came across an article here on B&H about voice-over recording.

I asked for some advice in the comments and this was one of the microphones I was recommended. I bought it as part of a package that included a shock mount, stand, and pop filter. So far, I couldn’t be happier.

Easy, plug and play. I took some getting used to, a little adjustment before I got it set up the best for my situation, but it’s cut down on the post-processing of my recordings considerably. With the recording level set right, it doesn’t pick up a lot of the background noises my headset mic did.

Usually just a noise pass and that’s all I need to do! I don’t know how much of a difference the pop filter and shock mount make in the sound quality, but I’m happy with the results. I’m just happy to be able to move my head around while I record! It’s a decent price too, so I could recommend this to anyone starting out who is looking for decent equipment without spending too much money.

I primarily use this mic when I record screencasts for trainings, software demonstrations, and when doing video game commentary. I really like the voice quality and I don’t have that great of radio voice but this mic helps smooth out some of the rough edges of my voice.

I was surprised how sturdy this mic is compared too the images in the product description. It is an all-metal housing and the grill covering the mic is actually wire mesh, which I though was only cloth at first.

The included USB cable is about 8 feet long so you have plenty of room to move this about. I haven’t tried using the built-in monitor jack because I find it distracting when recording. We use MXL Micmate USB to XLR adapters and MXL condenser mics so I was originally going to purchase a different mic and the Micmate.

I saved money by buying the Tempo and have the same results with less equipment.

I was not expecting it to be this good for a USB mic! Been using it for 2 days so far and I had no problems with it, it is really easy to set up and the price isn’t to bad, also the sound is really good, for the gain it is best to put it at about 50% that’s what i have found to work.

Would recommend.

I got this for better audio on video/Zoom/Meet/Skype calls, and I’m happy with my purchase. It’s a very noticeable upgrade when I listen through a decent pair of headphones: clearer and no echo. Through terrible laptop speakers, it’s better, but not worth the hassle.

Setup was easy: plug in and go. The headphone jack is bad; don’t plan on using it. I couldn’t adjust the volume well, so it was too loud, and the signal quality was noticeably poorer than my laptop’s headphone jack: I could hear static while not moving or making noise.

I had to manually disable the output in volume settings so that I could use the laptop speakers. You need to get a separate stand. The included one is so promising: with my laptop on a few books to make the camera the right height, the microphone on stand was just the right height to sit near my mouth but still be out of frame.

Unfortunately, the included stand build is terrible. I broke off part of it while trying to adjust the mic clip, and I wasn’t using that much pressure. If you get this, be extremely delicate putting it together and never expect to remove the mic clip without breaking it.

I might have fared better if I had gripped the neck with a pair of pliers while adjusting the mic clip. I got a Shure windscreen and it fixed any plosive problems. The name-brand one that was a few dollars more expensive than the generic one did a noticeably better job.

This was the first piece of equipment I purchased when I decided to do some podcasting from home. The mic is great at a reasonable price. I can plug it directly into my computer via the usb. Other participants on videoconferences have often noted how clear I sound.

The headphone jack is extremely helpful in allowing me to monitor my own audio. I also use the XLR to connect it to other recording equipment. The only flaw in this product is the included tripod. The plastic connecting the head of the tripod to the base is too thin and flimsy.

Mine broke when I went to unscrew the stand clamp.

The set up picks up a lot of noise so I have to keep it (the gain?) turned way down and stay really close to the mic on soft sections and then remember to pull the mic as far away as possible when I sing full and high.

Maybe I need an additional device to help with gain? It’d also just be nice if it had a Bluetooth headphone/earbud capability so I didn’t have a cord hanging around in my Sing Karaoke by Smule app music videos.

Maybe that doesn’t even exist on the market yet due to latency problems? If I had more money, I’d probably buy a foam recording screen and/or something to help the noise?, but I don’t understand anything about music recording and I could use some videos specifically addressing how to trouble shoot this for singing both directly into your phone and into your camcorder, as I live in an apartment and don’t have a portable computer for recording elsewhere yet.

So far I’m not noticing a difference in sound from when I used to just use my earbud microphone or nothing to record my singing into my phone. It might even be worse now, but that’s probably just because I don’t know how to work this professional technology and could use some extremely laid out help for dummies regarding it.

Probably a handy device if I understood it, I thought I’d be able to, but for a month now I haven’t. I think it is necessary to have for my Sm7b microphone to be able to connect to my Samsung Galaxy s20 for vocal recording, that’s why I got it.

But maybe I need to figure out a way to connect my microphone to my phone without this in between? Maybe this device is causing the problem. I’m not sure.

Unfortunately, all of that equipment is back at the studio, or with the photographers I team up with who were also forced to work independently from home and their cars. I suddenly needed a high quality voice over option to use at home, and one that could record a VO on my iPhone or iPad and quickly turn it around to my video editors via email directly from my device.

On paper, the Shure MV51 fit all of my needs, and in practice has given me exceptional results. The ease of use and its interface to the free MOTIV iPhone and iPad app are perhaps my favorite aspects of this microphone.

I’m on constant deadlines and I don’t have the time to set up and record voice tracks on an elaborate XLR interface into pre-amps and a computer–nor for the moment can I justify the expense of such a setup.

The Shure product developers literally made this microphone plug-and-play (or record). The MOTIV app allows you to dial in the appropriate equalizations for your voice and the sound you want and the app maintains those settings each time you open it up.

As for the results, my editors have been amazed. They all thought I was still recording my tracks in the studio on our venerable Sennheiser MD 421. To be sure, if I were to do a critical side-by-side analysis between the two mics, I suspect we’d hear very noticeable differences.

But, the Shure MV51 has been a solid performer for how I’m using it at the moment, and that includes plugging it into my laptop as an external mic for Zoom interviews. One of my few criticisms is the built in mic screen could be more robust.

I had to buy an additional screen to filter out the plosives. The bottom line is, if you need an at-home easy to use high quality mic, give this one consideration.

I’m using this Samson USB mic for recording voice-overs for training videos. Setup was a breeze – plugged it in, and I was recording with it through Audacity in under a minute. It’s a natural sounding mic, is pretty sensitive (without being too sensitive, like picking up fleas breathing in the next room!) and feels to be solidly built.

I first purchased a Blue Snowball USB mic, thinking it would do the job, but you can’t compare the two. There is so much more natural gain in the Samson. The Blue needed a lot of post-processing to get the recordings to sound good, so I returned it in favor of the Samson.

My voice is recorded with a full, clear sound, without any boominess. I quickly recorded my acoustic guitar, and that sounded pretty decent without any tweaking. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

Excellent sound quality. Really brings out the subtle noises in vocals including breaths which can add nice flavour to a track. Hefty and feels like really good quality. Downside? Plug n play does not work on Cubase 5 which is my go to DAW.

Recognises the mic is there but Cubase does not pick up any signal from it. Tried asio4all and all sorts, still nothing. Sad times. But still worth keeping.

Plug and play worked well. It is cardioid mic, reducing echo exposure if used in web meetings. Focus side of the cardioid is on the side where the headphones plug in. The desk stand that comes with it is a bit wimpy (easy to tip over) if you are going to use it as a blog mic.

It is being used to record a grand piano for remote college recital class. Boom stand is best for that, but the cord is on the short side to make that practical. Noise floor is OK.

I hesitated before reviewing this mic. Other reviews call it harsh and sibilant. What I found is that it works great with the mic emulations but… here’s the BUT. It took me almost a week of back and forth with the customer service at Antelope to properly install the plug-ins.

Maybe it was me, and maybe I couldn’t explain my problem properly but they would just refer me to the same boiler plate instructions. Just when I was at the end of my rope, I asked them very specifically how to install the plug ins.

If you are installing them in Logic they have to reside in a specific place in your library, something they never mentioned, and when installing it does not go automatically to that place. This is a great product but be prepared for a deep dive to get it to work properly.

Antelope Audio has produced another fine product when it comes to the Edge Solo Microphone. This compact microphone delivers a huge sound. The emulations of high-end studio microphones when coupled with the various audio interfaces from Antelope Audio give a sound that is clear when it needs to be and warm when you want it to be.

From the day I started using the Edge Solo my vocal sound was taken to studio-grade level. No joke. This microphone and its faithful emulations are serious.

This was a perfect intro mic for me and my tiny podcast. I didnt feel like I over paid for “design” and brand and got plenty of helpful features. Plus, it just works! Plug it in and good to go. I have a decent budget, so my selections were wide, it was very enticing to pick all the industry standards and shiny new designs, in the end, I am just starting out, so I didnt want to over spend or get distracted by shiny design.

This mic sounds really good, has the right features to make even my voice sound good, and its priced more than fair, and honestly, if more people knew about this sleeper it would be pricier. There are other mics that look great, have brand rec, and have less features, terrible plosives and mid rangey frequency harshness.

Do the right thing and put your toe in the water with this solid unit. I may still buy the industry standard and shiny things in the future, but if you are like me, starting out and unsure if you want to overspend on hobby you may put up and down, get the Samson.
