I have used many different routers over the years. Google WiFi is hands down the best “router”I have ever used. I Don’t have a huge house but there is a couple of dead zones in my house. I have had Wi-Fi extenders.

It is so easy to connect and start it up with easy instructions. After installing Google wifi, my internet speed throughout my house increased and the wifi is stronger and more stable. No more complaints from hubby while gaming.

It is not too expensive and worth investing. Got 2 of these routers as part of Google Fiber subscription. Routers/AP supports WiFi Mesh technology, so signal should reach any corner of your home, up to 1900sqft. For my home 1100sqft even one of these works perfectly.

Setup was easy-breezy, using Google Home mobile app. Although, router lacks advanced settings like wifi mode and channel selection, for average casual user this shouldn’t cause discomfort. Design-wise it looks cozy, so you can leave it on the surface, you can even cotrol LED intensity what is well thought for dark environment.

Owned for 2 days. Received in great condition and as described. Ordered from Electronics Canada on Best Buy marketplace. Well packaged & shipped promptly. Goggle Wifi -received model AC1304 – which has the USB C power connection.

Basic box. Came with the official Google power supply & appears to also have official slim white ethernet cable. Set up & had working fairly quickly.

I bought the ASUS AX3000 to replace the single-band, WiFi 4 router that is built into my AT&T modem. There are simply too many 2. 4GHz networks bleeding over into our house from the neighbors, and the AT&T router is too weak to get the full circuit bandwidth anywhere beyond about 10 feet from it.

The AX3000 is incredibly easy to set up. Before starting, I Googled how to shut off the built-in wifi radio and put the AT&T modem/router into pass-through mode. The ASUS router app is really nice, but I preferred using the on-board interface to set things up by wiring in our desktop PC.

I set up both 2. 4GHz and 5GHz networks using different SSID’s so that I could tell them apart. (I am not a fan of the “Smart Connect” feature that uses a single SSID and can move devices between 2. 4GHz and 5GHz to try to optimize range and speed.

) Two devices in the house only support 2. 4GHz, but the rest are all on the 5GHz network, including iPhones running WiFi 6 and a variety of devices including Apple TVs and Roku sticks using WiFi 5. Using a speedtest app on my iPhone 12, I then methodically checked every room in the house before connecting all the other devices.

We have a 3000 sq foot, two-story home with another 1000 sq ft in the unfinished basement. The AX3000 sits in the loft near the center of the second floor (great central location). The results? I got the full bandwidth of our internet circuit in every room of the house and in the basement, despite the signal strength sometimes being as low as 35%! This router has great features, a good user interface and a nice companion app.

But it’s the combination of WiFi 6 and other advanced tech that makes its performance shine. I have even noticed my Chromebook getting better battery life now that it can operate on 802. 11ac (WiFi 5) along with a stronger signal.

The AX3000 is not the cheapest home router, but if you need range, throughput, and the ability to support a fleet of modern devices, it is a great investment.

So, decided to cut the cable BUT use some of the money to subscribe to a VPN. The VPN company stated the ISP router would not be adaptable unless I did a bunch of tech stuff like flash it. I can build PCs, I can do very basic things and when shown or told I can pretty much make anything work.

Chose Asus because I like their product, just built a PC with an Asus mobo (Z490 ROG Strix E) and an Asus monitor (PA278) This router is supposed to work well with the VPN company I chose. First upon the simple (and it is simple) set-up, I received no signal from the modem to the router.

Called Asus and they helped me get a signal. I was willing to put that down as perhaps I made a mistake. Tried to install the VPN and when VPN was activated a loss of internet on the PC but not the 2 Rokus.

Contacted the VPN company who worked on it from their end and couldn’t find an issue. Contacted Asus again and again, they helped but when the VPN was on the PC was offline EVEN hardwired into the router.

Had a professional come in to set up the network. He did but VPN drops download from 200+MBPS – >50. He told me to contact the VPN company again. they had me run some configs and nothing. I would call again, but and I know it is something that companies do to keep prices down, but when I can’t understand a single word the phone help is saying (because I can’t be online if working on the internet with possible outages, due to the working on it.

) So, I won’t call them, asking them to repeat and talk slower makes me feel embarrassed. I rarely complain about the telephone outsources because it is what it is, but Asus’ by far the worst. So, while it FINALLY, gets me signals to everything I need the fact that a hardwired PC’s download speed drops 75% is frustrating and I would return it but with the market the way it is with stock on shelves down (bought the last one) and the need for one that handles wifi6 AND VPN there may not be anything else available.

It breaks my heart to have to write this review because as I stated I truly like Asus products.

You should have bought a router for YOUR TI purposes only!! this is a router that’s meant for maybe an apartment or a 2 possibly 3 bedroom home not for an office building! it’s no wonder it didn’t give results like you wanted and it failed.

this is a entry level Wi-Fi router you should have kept with the Netgear nighthawk or something similar. IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PLACEMENT OF THE ROUTER WAS ALSO A BIG REASON TOO. These are 101 facts and you claim to say your I.

T if I was in your position there would have been no way in hell would have bought this router I would have went with something higher in for my “clients”. this router performs exceptionally well with a range of probably 150 to 200 ft with obstructing walls I haven’t had any issues and I’ve had this router for almost a year now the AI protection software works perfectly and blocks what needs to be blocked.

The ASUS router app it’s perfect, easy setup, only took me about 15 minutes it also supports AI Wi-Fi mesh systems so any other Asus Wi-Fi mesh routers you can connect to this and it’s Wi-Fi 6!!! unfortunately as far as the price is concerned I bought it when it was $70 now it’s 159 on Amazon highly recommend this router and remember, if you have a long house an older home that’s brick or anything with thick sheetrock look somewhere else.

Possibly look in to an AI mesh system.

I replaced an older model netgear cable modem with this model. So far I have not noticed any difference. The reason I replaced it is that it was old and the broadband provider (Sparklight/CableOne) told me that the older model did not support the bandwidth that I am paying for.

I can’t tell any difference and my upload and download speeds are the same. I did have trouble installing the new netgear cable modem. I followed the instructions but they did not work. I called Sparklight/Cableone and they said the problem was with the cable modem so I needed to call Netgear.

I called Netgear and they said the problem was with Sparklight/Cableone. While I was on hold waiting for NetGear customer service to do something – I can’t remember what – the cable modem started working.

NetGear said the cable company was slow in updating the modem. Evidently the cable company must send signals to the new cable modem and that did not happen in a timely manner. So each company blamed the other and I don’t know what was wrong but finally the thing started working.

Since the old one worked, and the new one seems the same, I’m not so sure I should have upgraded. Just getting the two companies to answer the phone is difficult – I waited on hold quite a bit and had to answer too many questions and even fill out a warranty form.

I could have saved my money and skipped the frustration of installing the new one.

Finally decided to upgrade my internet speed and i needed to replace the Arris cable modem that had provided over 8 years of faithful service. Upon the recommendation of the Spectrum cable tech, i purchased a Netgear cable modem.

First time using a Netgear product. I heard many good things over the years, but never felt the need to purchase any of their products since ive had no issues with Arris, Motorola, and Linksys devices.

Took Spectrum a few moments after receiving the mac address to have my new Netgear up and running. So far, no complaints. My connection is strong and steady. Im using this modem to power my Linksys Mesh network using wifi6.

At any given moment, there are at least 40+ devices with 2 tvs constantly streaming in 4k. The Netgear and Linksys are both working great. As of right now, i would definitely recommend this model. If you’re a Spectrum customer who doesn’t want to pay rental fees for their cable modem (which is actually pretty good), make things easier on yourself and buy a Netgear.

It is highly recommended by their repair techs and customer service reps. Now if this modem dies in the next few days, weeks, or months, i will make a follow-up post detailing what happened.

I have a CM1100 and upgraded because I thought the older one had stopped working. I spent hours on the phone with Netgear Support (after an hour with my internet provider changing the settings for the new Modem) and finally was able to both connect to the internet and the Router (I have 4 satellites along with a Mesh 6 System Router) and then to all the satellites.

I was then passed to sales who wanted to provide me with Whole Home-all device maintenance plan for nearly $130 a year in order to guarantee I could stay connected. I turned it down and he said they had provided all the help available to me given the extended warranty I had already purchased with the new Modem.

My full circle only lasted a couple hours before my Router disconnected from the Modem again. I worked for another 3 hours or so repeating all the steps to reconnect the devices. The next day (day 3 without internet) I decided to give the old Modem another try.

I was back online with all the equipment and all our WiFi devices in about 3 more hours after once again giving my corrected S/N and MAC address to the internet provider. I’ve decided to return the new Modem.

I will most likely change manufacturers once this set of Modem/Router/Satellites breaks down again.

Out of the box, this router was easy to setup and worked great. Subsequent firmware updates rendered the functionality of this router useless. Once the firmware is updated, the app no longer works and the user no longer has access to manage the devices on their network.

The only way to fix this is to continually reset the router, but them it only holds for about 6 hours and then the cycle has to be repeated. Nobody has time to constantly reset the router and re-setup their home network every day.

Based on other reviews and other websites, this is a known flaw that Linksys refuses to address. A newer firmware update was released in October 2021, but the Connectivity portal states the firmware is not compatible with the router (although is was pulled directly from the support page on linksys.

com that matches the router). All attempts to upgrade to the newest firmware confirm that it was updated, but the router still shows the current version as being the older version. This router was good when it worked brand new but without the functionality that it prides itself on and the lack of usefulness of the app, the router is basically nothing more than an oversized paper weight.

Long a supporter of Linksys, I will be going out today to buy a new non-Linksys router.

Prior versions work, but have a known issue that was supposedly fixed (but broke basic functionality for administrative log-in to the router. If you never want to configure your router’s unique configurations, then go for it.

We will probably buy some other companies router to replace ours as Linksys hasn’t fixed the problem in 18+ months and counting.

This behaves exactly like the AC7500 that is priced at $149. 99. I did a direct comparison and my ISP speeds were the same. Theres not much difference between AC1750 and AC1900 unless your ISP speeds are greater.

The only real difference is B/G 2. 4gHz is 450mbps vs 600mbps on the AC1900. Again on paper its a difference but in reality no difference as all my devices are AC. The package includes the router, 3 removable antennas, installation CD, ethernet cable, power adapter, and quick start guide.

Installation is simple, just hook up the ethernet cable to the router and restart the the modem – it will configure itself automatically. Make sure you use CAT5E minimum or CAT6 cables to fully maximize your LAN network and internet speeds especially if your internet exceeds 100Mbps.

The wifi defaults to the provided SSID and you can access the linksys settings by connecting to the network and typing “192. 168. 1. 1”. The network settings itself are VERY BASIC and will satisfy the average consumer that simply use the router for WIFI.

The only adjustments I make in the settings are changing the wifi name and channels to the best one in my area. I use the Wifi SCAN on a MAC that tells me the best 2. 4GHz and 5GHz channel to use and I change them accordingly in the linksys setting.

I also disable media prioritization as I do not want any throttling of my devices. There are guest access, parental controls, and security settings. NO VPN settings- Again, VERY BASIC settings that are available.

You can also attach a USB 3. 0/2. 0 hard drive to the back of the router as there is 1 USB 3. 0 slot. This does work great for movies as I have a Nexus Player and can access the HD that is connected to the back of the router via WIFI.

It is a great feature since you can watch movies off the HD through Wifi. File transfers VIA wifi to the USB3. 0 HD are very slow at around ~20MB, so don’t expect to transfer large files via WIFI fast.

The reliability has been great and I have about 12+ network devices connected at once. Rokus, Mac minis, iPhones, PS4, PCs (LAN), MacBooks, iPads, Android phones all connect via WIFI and work FANTASTIC.

In a 2-story house about 60 FEET away I can get MAX internet speeds (on AC devices) as if I was hard-wired. I am currently paying for 150Mbps/10Mpbs internet speeds from my ISP and through WIFI upstairs my actual speeds are 172Mbps/12Mpbs with a wireless AC device.

I am actually meeting and exceeding my ISP speeds which is what you expect from a router. Also, there is very minimal lighting on the router itself- only the Linksys logo lights up blue and blinks when their is no internet connectivity.

Overall, this is a great looking and performing router but with basic network configurations. Despite the lack of configurations it has suited me well for my needs in streaming movies, internet downloading, internet browsing, online gaming, and streaming movies via attached USB HD.

Although it is advertised as MIMO, in actual every day usage it is negligible on the user end. Compared to the AC1900 EA7500 I don’t notice a measurable difference in speed. For the price of $99. 99 it is very affordable and reliable that you can simply set up and forget about and one that maximizes the most out of your ISP speeds.

This replaced an ancient (15 years?) Linksys WRT54GL 2. 4 GHz wireless router which had been bulletproof until now, when it failed. Setup perhaps took me longer than it might have because I haven’t set up a router for some time and was cautious to be sure everything was by the book.

Other than that, I chose the web browser approach which was easy to use and everything worked as hoped. [Except my ethernet-attached laser printer which wouldn’t print from any of my devices, whether ethernet or WiFi.

It turned out there must have been a faulty instruction stuck in the printer’s memory acting like a dam against any requests to print. (I discovered the printer’s memory was full when I attempted a command at the printer’s manual controls).

After disconnecting the printer and re-powering it, all of my devices can print to it without problem. ] Setup defaulted to having the router allocate 2. 4 GHz and 5 GHz itself using a single SSID, which was what I had hoped for.

Also, the functions in the router’s web browser interface are easy to understand and access. Today I was across the street from my house in a neighbor’s backyard pool and I noticed my Android phone was alternately connecting with this router or with LTE.

That’s unexpected range. I have 50 Mbps download internet service. With my old router the ethernet to internet connection ran around 40 Mbps; with the new router I get the full 50 Mbps. Checking the internet speed of two wireless computers in my home, the old router gave me 14-17 Mbps; the new router 40-45 Mbps.

I am pleased with the router.

I upgraded from the original Google Wifi router to this one. I was not using the mesh capabilities, and will not with this new router. But I had been looking for a router that offered me more control of my network.

This TP-Link AX1800 fits that bill and offers better security with Wifi 6 capability. The initial install went well, and I had my new network going pretty quickly. Accessing the setup pages after the network is setup is a little more finicky than I’d like.

I try to use their website address (which is supposed to be bound to my router configuration page), but it often says that I’m not connected to the TP-Link network. even though I am. I have to clear the browser cache and history, and then it will pick it up.

That and it seems that it doesn’t like Edge browser very much, but seems to work fine in Firefox. But besides those couple of software problems, the network has been fine. I haven’t noticed any speed increase, but I wasn’t expecting any.

I get the maximum that my ISP provides for the price, so I’m happy with that. The only other thing that I was hoping, with the four antennas vs the Google Wifi puck with no visible antennas, is that the microwave would no longer interfere with the signal.

No such luck there. I guess I’d have to get a less “leaky” microwave to solve that problem!.

Bought this router at the beginning of 2022 after reviewing 25 other routers. I’ve been in the IT business for 30+ years and needed an ultra-reliable solution for my business network without having to migrate over to NOC level aspect.

The cost for this router was comparable to other high end routers. I also purchased the CM2000 Modem and discarded my ISP’s equipment due to their unreliable functionality. Unpacking and setup was very simple and all equipment appeared to be brand new with easy instructions to get started.

Changing the default login info was effortless and I was able to configure the entire process with no problems. Updating the firmware was also unproblematic and the phone app installation when well too.

Several months after the initial installation, I had some issues with the phone app. The app would not sort the list of devices connected and the reset function would not work on the app. Shortly thereafter, the phone app was updated and everything worked fine again.

A couple more months later, I ran into a few new issues with the router. First, I cannot change the QOS function. If I try to define my internet bandwidth – the router interface does not save the setting and reverts back to the “SpeedTest” setting.

Second, the “Security” says it is not enabled on the Home page of the router after logging in. Even though there is security setup on the routher and the phone app, it still says that it is “Not Enabled.

” Lasty, I am unable to turn OFF the “WPS” function and button on the router. The “LED Control Settings” just turn off the lights on the actual router device. This is not what I need. The WPS button can still be pushed and a device can be connected.

The “WPS Wizard” get to a point when it asks to input a “PIN Number” if chosen not to use the recommended “Push Button” option. If a 4-8 digit PIN is not entered, there is an error requesting that a PIN be entered.

And at this stage, nothing more can be done to disable the WPS feature on the router. So, minus the listed issues; it is a good router but I think I am going to go with the NOC network option and hopefully there will be no feature holes or discrepancies.

To begin: This is not a long term review as I just purchased and installed this yesterday. This is more to review the set up process and how is has been running in the brief time in which I have owned it.

Prior to purchase I did a lot of research and heard some worrisome things about the setup process using the app. Most of the negative reviews I had read which I was concerned with were with respect to the setup process, wireless range and durability.

While I cant speak to durability yet, the app was painless to use to set up my router. Given the reviews my first attempt to set up my router was to use the website but I couldn’t find the proper link and the Netgear website took me into the deathloop trying to find a proper link so I just installed the app to install and set up my router.

The app was really straight forward and my router was up and running within 20 minutes and the walk through was very easy to follow and understand. The signal strength is exactly what I was looking for.

Our house is about 3000 Sq ft and the router is set up next one exterior wall and there is signal right across the property which is approximately 10000 square ft. So far I give this item five stars.

If I run into any durability issues in the future I will edit my rating and leave more clarification with that respect.

The family has owned Netgear routers over many years upgrading them as the technology improved. Needless to say this router is the best one We have owed offering improved security, easy installation, greater coverage, wonderful app interface, and monitoring of devices connecting to it.

Netgear has upgrades for protection of individual devices with products that compete with the leading edge protection software. You can customize to the degree that you feel most comfortable, at home and away.

After installing the router, the protection that has a trial period picked up malware on two devices that the devices themselves did not detect. That confirmed my purchase, and along with my experience with Netgear, I can continue to use the internet with confidence and know that I have the best product available to safely navigate as well as protect my family’s investment at home.

The Eero 6+ AX-3000 is a 3 pack, dual band mesh wifi 6 system that is easy to set up, fast, and provides excellent range capable of handling at least a 3000 square foot house. Set up and control of the system is done entirely through an app downloaded to your Iphone or Android phone.

In my case, it was an Iphone. Set up allows you to keep the SSID and password from your previous network which had been a Velop tri band mesh system. I found this tremendously helpful since all of the 25 or so devices that I have immediately recognized the new network without additional configuration.

The first of the 3 pack devices is connected to your cable modem, etc. and is configured during the initial setup. The additional 2 devices can be configured during initial set up or any time later through the app.

I ended up using only 2 of the 3 pack devices since the 3rd one would have been overkill for my 2200 square foot house unless I wanted to extend the network deep into the backyard or my neighbor’s yard.

As I mention, I previously had a two pack, tri band Velop mesh system. This system had served me well for several years, however, I have recently acquired several wifi 6 devices and the Velop system was not wifi 6.

I have about 25 devices on my system including 4 HDTVs which I constantly stream. In actual operation, the eero system felt very quick and no buffering occurred. Range was also excellent exceeding my previous Velop system.

I have 1 gigabyte per second internet coming into the house. About 20 feet from the router and in the same room as the router, I was able to achieve about 900mbps on my laptop compared to about 750mbps with the previous Velop system.

A story below the router and through 3 walls, I achieved around 250mbps compared to 200mbps with the previous system. I you are a heavy user of video or other data intensive devices and want a network that is easy to set up, fast, and with great range, I highly recommend the Eero 6+ AX3000.

Pros – Easy to setup and connect these to an existing network/modem. Follow the steps and you will be up and running in minutes without fail. App walks you through step by step. I opened the box, pulled out all 3 eeros.

I then proceeded to plug in the first one and allowed it to connect. Once it connected, I switched my lighting hub to use this device which took about 2 minutes to be added. I then proceeded to adding the next one and set it up.

Then I proceeded to do the next one and got it up and running. I did have to connect existing devices to the new “network” SSID since it didn’t transition the password from the old one with the same name.

No issue doing this process, just connect devices to the new network, even if using the same name (iphones, ipads, tvs, streaming devices) and type the password. Devices are very quick to connect to the new network in about half the time it took with the older devices.

Build quality and size of these devices make them ideal for placing around the house. We have about 2000 sq ft house upstairs plus a basement. I placed one next to the modem, another one at the opposite end of the house and another in the front part of the house.

I am able to connect devices outside on the pool deck without fail. Speeds for all devices is very fast. I noticed that the streaming devices aren’t buffering like they were on the older network “extenders”.

These can also use the new Echo devices which have eero built in to extend your wifi to various areas of a large house. Very clean and small devices are very easy to hide behind objects on a shelf or in a room without anyone knowing they exist.

It might be silly but first impressions are important and the packaging for these was very robust with tight tolerances. Just what I would expect from something in this price range. My coverage area is quite large and extends to a detached barn where my wood working studio is located.

Even with very high powered single unit devices I have trouble with coverage. Not with this system I have them spaced across my property such that I get great coverage everywhere that I need. It is sort of like cell phone towers where as you move around the system calculates which node will give you the best reception and will switch you seamlessly if you move or in the unlikely even that one drops offline.

This is fast too giving gigabit speeds. This is done by communication between the units on another radio frequency as not to take up network resources. My internet is not that fast but I do a lot of internal file sharing and moving and really appreciate the speed this gives my local network.

I checked with customer support and they said up to 3 more units can be added to the system presumably doubling the coverage area. eero 6+ works as a smart home hub so you can control supported Thread and Zigbee devices with Alexa.

Use your eero 6+ with Alexa to control lights, locks, plugs, and more. I chatted into best buy and they said this is also compatible with google home. All in all this is one of the few products I would give an extra star to if I could.

Installation was easy too.

Unit lasted 1yr/4months. I noticed my connection was slowing down so I reset the unit. Normally, the power LED would come on solid and then it would go through it’s bootup sequence. This time the power and all other LED’s just started flashing rapidly – it didn’t boot properly and wouldn’t reset “Bricked”.

NetGear Tech supports first comment was that I should buy a 6 month support contract for $89. 00. Then after they agreed it was a product failure, they told me to upload the proof of purchase and serial # on the website under the ticket # and they would send me a new unit.

I called bac after I uploaded everything, sat on hold for 45mins only for them to say that they would not replace it because it was 4 months out of warranty. For their internal cost ($20), they could have kept me as a customer.

I will no longer purchase or recommend NetGear products. I’m just going to rent the cable modem from XFinity.

Firstly, one other review exists against this, they gave it 1 star because it didn’t have a phone socket, that is totally unfair, it isn’t the product or the sites fault that the customer doesn’t know what to look for when purchasing a product!!! It does not say anywhere that the device is a modem, so why would they expect it to be? Anyway, this is wireless router, a very very good one with lots of features, high speeds and a long range.

Wired, I get 565mbit download (probably the max my internet goes), two floors up in the attic with a USB dongle, I’m still getting 250mbit+ download. I wanted the full blown AX86U but couldn’t warrant the price, and I’m glad I chose this version as it does everything I need, I’ve a USB drive and an external hard drive attached to the USB ports, it acts as file server, upnp, ftp, samba, even a torrent client (which I tested but don’t really use).

It can also be used as a print server, or to use 3G/4G dongles. You can even set up AICloud to allow access to you data anywhere without require VPN access You can set it up as a VPN server or client.

It allows AIMesh to use other ASUS routers as a mesh network. It has adaptive QOS features including game mode. It has AIProtection that provides advanced security features, such as malicious site blocking, two way intrusion prevention, infected device blocking, and a button that assesses the current security of your device and network.

It has OpenNAT. It has parental controls that allow blocking of specific sites or site types from all or specified clients. You can also set times that the internet is available on a schedule, again per device.

To make it easier, you can also set up groups of devices for both of these features. It has a Traffic Analyser that shows you who has accessed the internet, times they accessed them and the sites they access, caught my son watching youtube at 3am when he had school the day after lol! I’m sure it has many features I haven’t listed too, I’ve only listed the ones I know and use.

It really is an impressive bit of hardware, so again, please ignore the ignorant fool that wrote the 1 star post.

Ok, so this review may sound a little confusing, because although I am having issues with my smart home devices on the 2. 4ghz band of the 86S, the wired and Wi-Fi 6 performance, at least for me, makes up for it.

This is my second go at WiFi 6. My first attempt was with a ASUS 11000 and it was awful. The router would reboot randomly, etc. But this is not a review for that. With this router, for a little over 3 weeks after installing, my smart home had no complaints.

Then this past Monday, I started having smart home devices fall off of the network. I would restart the smart home device, and it would not reconnect. I had to restart the router to resolve the problem, at least until the next time it happened.

After 2 days of troubleshooting (as luck would have it, I was on Christmas vacation), I wasn’t able to determine a root cause. I tried separating the 2. 4 & 5ghz band thinking it was some kind of handshake issue, but that didn’t work.

2. 4ghz devices still dropped off the network once a day or so. I set the router that I had replaced with this device back up as a 2. 4ghz Wi-Fi hotspot by itself, and moved all of my smart home devices back to it.

No issues since late Wednesday afternoon. Wi-Fi 6 and LAN reliability and performance are both superb, but 2. 4ghz backward compatible? I am not so sure. 802. 11ac and ax work great, but any standard before that so far hasn’t been able to maintain and stable connection.

I needed to replace my Cisco (Linksys) E3000 router because I upgraded to a 500Mbit broadband connection and the E3000 router was capping my data throughput speeds to approx 170Mbit per second maximum – meaning I was never going to be able to reach the speeds the new connection was capable of.

With this Asus RT-AX86S I have full 500Mbit per second data throughput with all the features and functionality this router offers. It really is amazing in terms of configurability and being very user-friendly to set up.

It’s quite a bit more expensive than your average home router but the difference it has made to my local network is worth every penny. If you are looking to future-proof your own home network and can afford one of these Asus RT-AX86 routers then I would seriously recommend them.

The RT-AX86S is good for speeds up to 1000Mbit per second and features a dual-core ARM CPU. For broadband connections faster than that you need to be looking at the RT-AX86U version, which is a little more expensive and features a quad-core ARM CPU and additional Gigabit LAN port, but otherwise with basically the same features and functionality as the RT-AX86S model.

I have an existing Linksys Router with multiple remote boosters and was interested in moving to a true mesh network. This system had high expectations to meet as we have a farm and run wifi cameras out in the barn and horse arena.

The current configuration gets the job done usually but the camera out by the arena loses wifi strength for large points in time. I recently setup a Netgear Nighthawk Mesh Wifi 6 in the main house and that was very seamless and great improved the reliability and speed of internet through the house – I was expecting a similar experience with the Linksys.

It’s been two weeks and I’ve finally gotten Linksys’s mesh setup. The setup was supposed to be simple and easy. But I found pain in every attempt. I was disappointed that the only setup documentation in the package was a business card telling me to download an app, no QR code so I had to take on faith that I picked the right one.

The app continually failed to load the router. My thinking was that the web admin portal would be a valid way of working however when you login to 192. 168. 1. 1 all you get is a referral to use the app: There is ZERO option except to use an app wizard to set this up.

Once I finally got the router recognized by the app and got started with the process I found the process was overly step by step where I could’ve setup the network in 5 minutes each individual step took multiple minutes and to get both the router and the additional node setup took well over 30 minutes, and that’s after I finally got the app to recognize the router.

Once I got everything setup the speeds were impressive and while the WiFi by the arena is not perfect I no longer get Nest notifications that the camera is out (so outages are brief and far more reliable).

In the end, after the bad setup days you do get great WiFi over a broad coverage area. I do goback to that Netgear Nighthawk Mesh that I have in the house though. If I had the choice of one, this that I have in the barn or the one in the house, I would buy the Netgear over again over this.

It’s not bad, and in time I’m sure it will be great but the setup did really leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Hey I bought this thing to future proof my internet for the next 5yrs minimum. It’s overkill for my small home and only 10 connected devices at most. Usually that number is only 7 with a max of 5 being used at the same time.

The fact this can handle like 35 devices means I can use it when I move into a larger home and start getting more smart devices. Maybe I will buy that talking toaster after all. So far it provides me with good speeds on all connected devices and I haven’t had any issues with it dropping out on me.

The quick toggle VPN is pretty cool too. Love that the updates notify me of when they are being installed. Love that I can make certain devices priority. Don’t watch Gundam but maybe I should now. The red does look pretty sick.

Connected to my ONT with Sky FTTP Broadband with very little config setup. Was easily able to update my Port-forwarding and reserve specific IPs for devices on my network. Throughput over wireless is less than advertised but is as expected.

Consistently getting 600-700Mbps over Wifi 6 on a 900Mbps FTTP connection. I am able to stream local 4k Content over wireless without any issues. Very happy with this router.

I have not used it yet because its missing the red accented antenna. I asked Asus support for a red antenna because it was suppose to come with it. I may sound like I am whining but this is a limited time edition available to the U.

S. and I don’t want a half-a ss collaboration if my Zaku router does not have the red antenna. Then was told to contact Newegg they said they don’t can’t send the red antenna and its better to return the item.

how do they have red antenna’s instock? if they do, wouldn’t it be better to do a swap and not send the whole item back after it just got here in two weeks? I am sure it is a nice router and works great since its wifi 6 but looks matter too to me.

Even if I do the replacement, how am I sure I won’t get another dud without the red antenna?.

Well now we know why there’s a reason why it’s as cheap as the Express and why ROKU stopped making these. It’s a quad-core so it’s supposed to be smoother. However, once you attempt to activate, it prompts to download the latest updates.

That update, cancels and disables the device to “activate” it. ROKU likes to have you go through the usual run around until the final solution. The “Solved” indicated in their official forum, chat and phone service, is to basically return and exchange until you find one that works.

Save your money, it’s a 50/50 product IF you can get it do actually what it’s supposed to do (link device to account and activation failure). I’ve actually bough a few ROKU’s and setup a down others and it’s never smooth.

Very iffy product. For myself, I think after 5 years, this will be my last ROKU attempt. Use your mobile if you can to cast using the Apps because this platform is wonky (never bought or was gifted one that worked.

on my Xfinity cable bill. Using this Roku, I was able to return one Xfinity cable box (X1 converter) from a room that I only watch TWO channels, MSNBC and CNBC. Think of that, $8. 50 a month so you can watch TWO channels (yes I had the choice to watch more, but at this location in my home, my office, those TWO channels are all I watch, and most of the time they’re only on in the “background”).

So I returned one of their X1 converters, and am saving $8. 50 a month off my Xfinity monthly bill. Downloading the “Xfinity Stream Beta” app from the Ruku channel store (for free), got me the SAME Xfinity guide I used with their cable box, and the TWO channels I watched.

Needless to say, “I’m happy” I was able to reduce my monthly cable bill, but regardless the ability to simply receive the “Roku Channel” and “Pluto TV” thru this Roku gives me more than enough “live channels” to watch besides the TWO channels I wanted to watch.

Well worth the under $30. 00 I paid for my model Roku. “The TV Man”.

I hate this product. I had an older Chromecast but it was having trouble keeping connection with phones so we thought we would upgrade to something with a remote and thought we’d give Roku a try. I regret not paying more for Chromecast (but my husband said the remote is too “slippery” and that’s the only real reason we tried a different one.

) Maybe it’s for Apple loyals, but there’s no cast option (or maybe there is if you download the app but takes up precious space on my phone) and there wasnt YouTube featured in the list of apps. Also it asked for payment details during setup for the potential of buying add ons but I couldn’t find a way to bypass it.

It almost had something good when the “kids channel” had the latest season of paw patrol – until I played it and found the “episodes” are just clips of the episode pieced together in a two minute long segment.

Overall the quality seems decent, but I don’t like the features as much as a Chromecast.

This router was really easy to set up – just plugged it into my cable modem, then opened the web page for the router. It walks you through the basic settings to configure your wifi network, then you’re pretty much done if you want.

There’s also a mobile app you can use, but I’ve mainly been using the web interface from my PC. With everything including the kitchen sink wanting to get online (yep, the kitchen faucet accepts commands from Alexa or Google), my old router was running into issues with a limit on the number of concurrent devices it would allow on the wifi network.

With smart TVs, smart sockets, smart speakers, cell phones, laptops, tablets, kindles, doorbell, garage door openers, it’s surprising how quickly the number ticks up. The ASUS router page is showing I currently have 38 devices connected, and does a pretty good job of identifying them all, and gives me control to temporarily block individual devices.

The interface is fast and responsive. My old non-ASUS router also provided a mobile app, but would frequently decide it couldn’t show me any devices on the network, depending on which way the wind was blowing.

The ASUS offering has been a breath of fresh air. We’re pretty heavy internet users in our household, with two tween/teen kids who are forever streaming video from Youtube or Twitch. We also subscribe to YoutubeTV, so if there’s anyone watching TV, it’s coming through this router.

We haven’t experienced any problems with streams buffering or dropping quality. I say “pretty much done if you want”, because there’s a ton of features this router provides if you want to dive in further.

Aimed at gamers, you can quickly set it up to prioritize certain computers or mobile devices. I haven’t tried this yet, as we just haven’t needed to – our connection has been just fine – but It may be useful to those with more limited bandwidth.

There are options to set up shared access to a printer or storage via a usb connection to the router. It appears you can configure it to share files over the internet, or have the router download to the storage device without needing a computer to be running.

There are also considerable logging and traffic monitoring tools, so you can see what device is using what amount of data, and where that data is going or coming from. Wifi range is good, nothing spectacular.

It’s about the same as my old router. It gives good coverage throughout the house, but outside it’s a little patchy. Nothing unexpected, though. I have a cheap extender relaying wifi to the back yard.

I did notice I my PC subwoofer was picking up some interference from it, so I’ve had to move these devices a couple of feet further apart.

I’m using it as the main router for AiMesh in our 3900 square foot house. Awesome speed. Initial testing in the same room as the router I was getting 490mbps from my 400mbps rated internet connection, and 250mbps 50 feet away and one level down through several walls with just one router.

I had some hiccups figuring out how to setup the AiMesh system – you have to download new firmware for all older routers. It only took a little research to get it all worked out. I now have one main GS-AX3000 and two AC1750 nodes.

It would probably be better with all WiFi 6 routers like the main one, but baby steps.

It may look creepy like a spider, or just plain stupid, but it gets the job done! I purchased this a couple years ago because the built in wifi that is in my internet provider’s modem is just garbage.

This router is a tank. I get 2. 4 signal all over my house, and even most of it is covered with the 5ghz band as well. And we have solid concrete cinder block walls behind all our drywall. No issue with signal.

My internet speed is 1gigabit down and 50 megabit up. On 2. 4 with solid signal I can usually get 120megbit down and the full 5 up without issues. On 5ghz I can get over 350 megabit down if I am within solid signal range.

When hard wired to it, I have no issue with max speeds on all fronts. I have an android phone, and downloaded the app to control this router from it, and it is packed with great features. From the app, I can tunr on or off any of the 3 wifi attenas, I can block internet access to any device that is connected to it, and I can even limit how much time a certain device gets internet access, Another useful feature is, you can connect any device, and the assign it to a specific user, So if you have a house full of people who all have devices connected, you can make user profiles and assign the devices to the specific user that uses that device.

So when little Johnny comes home to play video games while he chats on his phone, but didn’t take out the trash, you can block all his devices from internet access all at once by turning off access to his profile.

Just a few useful features for those with big families with several devices. These are just a few solid features of this router, It has gotten several firmware updates that have improved it’s security and performance as well.

Just make sure you do a full power down for at least 30 seconds and then do a full reboot. Some of the firmware updates have crippled my upload speed until I take this step, Overall, fantastic router! Been using it for over 3 years now!.

This router was supposed to be top of the line when I bought it in 2020. The signal has been decent, but it has been plagued with problems that progressively get worse over time. One feature I liked was being able to use the parental time block feature to shut the router off at specific times of the day on the kids devices.

It worked like a champ for a few months and then randomly deleted all the ip addresses for the kids devices (which were many!) After re-adding all the devices for the 3rd time, they deleted again. After that stranger things began happening.

When I would log into the router from my computer or phone, etc. everything turned into japanese. I don’t know japanese, so I had to follow some screenshots to turn it back to english. Fast forward another month, the router turned off completely.

I restarted it and all our smart devices (50+) are working with the unit. however now when I try to log into the router, not only am I being japanese again, it doesn’t recognize my login anymore. I tried the factory login and still nothing.

I called Asus, and after waiting on hold for 20+minutes, they tell me it is out of warranty, so they told me to go to their website and use the chat feature. I used the chat feature, and they proceed to tell me I need to do a factory reset.

Which means I have to set up a whole new network SSID and reprogram 50+ devices to work with the router again! There is no guarantee this won’t happen again. so I am on the fence about restarting the modem since things are still working.

I just can’t access the settings in the modem. If I must reset, I will purchase a new modem and throw this one away as no one should have to use this piece of garbage! I only bought this modem for the gaming reliability for one of the kids.

I should have stuck with my old reliable Apple router literally the most reliable router I have ever owned. I have also owned netgear. other than the constant connection issues with it I never had a settings issue.

Don’t even get me started on the ASUS laptop I bought a few years ago! Asus sucks.

I pre ordered it from PB Tech on 17 September 2021 but had to wait for delivery until October as they did not had it in the stock at that time I guess because of Lockdowns. It was the most expensive and advance router available in NZ last year.

I had this router now for almost a year and have no regrets for paying almost $1000 including delivery. The reason why I bought it because it is so advance in what it has to offer and will offer you the best you can get from the festers Wi-Fi 6 Internet today and even faster in future.

You do not need another router in future to upgrade your Internet speed. It can already handle the speed the Internet providers even cannot offer in NZ at the moment. It is the most powerful router which can connect dozens of devises and covers the large area through the thick wall of a large house.

One devise solves all you Internet needs. No need for Mashing in house. This is what you paying for here. The hardware and software is the best too. This router is very heavy for a reason. It is packed with all the best Hi Tech staff inside and it delivers when you really need it.

Had all high speed ports in and out of router and super easy software installation. Download from “Google app” store for free on Android phone and you can control the entire Internet in house from you Mobile phone.

No need to go PC to do it. Software is very advance as you would expect for this money and can offer you so many settings which you probably do not need but IT specialists will defiantly appreciate these extras.

RGB light on the top at the middle of the router is nice extra too especially at night in the dark. Can choose any colour you like. To cut this long story short – IT IS THE FULL PACKAGE and ULTIMATE INTERNET DEVICE.

We have a Chromecast dongle on all of our TVs (or video display devices – like a spare computer monitor – we cast Aquarium Live or Fireplace Live to it ). We have all the smarts in our phone, tablets and computers.

No matter which room in the house or a friends house or office or etc (with a Chromecast enabled device) I am in, I can connect my desired content (YouTube TV, YouTube, Netflix, Pluto, Photos, Documents, Presentation, etc) to that device.

It would be nice if all video display devices had Chromecast built in. When I am traveling, I carry a couple of the Chromecast dongles with me. I can connect to the WiFi and connect (less than 2 minutes) my Chromecast dongle to the video display device and I can cast my presentation, pictures, you name it.

Everyone (most) has different viewing preferences. Your phone allows you have control of your preferences. Most everyone today has a smart phone and most everyone carries it, no matter where they go (bathroom, gym, driving their car, you name it).

By using your phone, tablet, or computer as the content source, you do not have to deal with the differences of all the different smart devices. You know you phone, you know your content. Enjoy you Chromecast.

If one is having problem with Chromecast, it is probably because they do not understand the simplicity of the device. They want to make it more difficult than it is.

I have two smart TV’s from different brands. They already have builtin many of the apps that I use such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney. They even support Chromecast using those apps.

However one of my TV’s does not support generic Chromecast. That is, I cannot stream video to it from a source where the TV doesn’t already have builtin the same app. All that I wanted to do was to add the capability to see my Nest security cameras on my TV.

I was able to buy this Chromecast device on sale for $19. 98. For that low price, my TV now supports this capability. I have a Google Nest Hub in the same room, so I can speak “Hey Google stream the Driveway Camera to the Master Bedroom TV”, and it works.

I rated the Chromecast 4 out of 5 stars because although the device does what I want, it’s still basically a “dumb” device. One cannot install any apps on it. One must stream from an app installed on another source like a smartphone, or computer.

I purchased this item a year or so ago. It has a great purpose and idea, but in my house it rarely worked as intended. Always had connection issues and required a reset or a factory reset, daily. I’ve had multiple calls to Google tech support for this product but they haven’t been much help in fixing the issue.

My problem is (and I suppose it’s just my own fault), because it wasn’t working as intended initially we stopped using it altogether and it sat on the shelf for about a year. Well, of course the warranty went out but I had a need for using the device again.

When I finally got so frustrated with it not working properly, I’d called support for the device, who directed me to call support for the app(s) I was experiencing issues with. It was a similar issue with all of my streaming apps, so I assume it was a product issue not a service issue.

Still not resolved since February 2021. I didn’t expect much, but am a little letdown there was no discount for upgrade or replacement.

I was looking for a way to double up on my security. I was very happy with my Linksys WRT3200ACM and over 20 items on my 2. 4GHZ network for a modest amount of bulbs, outlets, displays and thermostats working with Google Home.

I was even fairly secure using a Fios GB feed to router off my internal network to a main floor router position via ethernet cable. I wanted the same 2000 square foot of coverage, easy transition for all my wifi devices, and some protection from myself.

Really!! Even though after being on Windows as long as Windows has been around, I finally got upset with untraceable crashes and moved to a Mac mini M1. Yes I wanted the wifi 6 to match my FIOS gateway but what I was really after was router based software to watch my traffic and add to what I already tried to do myself as a computer software network programmer (retired).

I am also old school with oodles of wifi networks I have set up in homes, in spite of there being an app for it, I wanted a web based login for configuring the new router. However, the built in software which had a reasonable starting configuration had something others did not have.

It has ASUS support going forward for updates as needed with no licenses or fees where others required $$$$. It was a short time later my entire house was converted. I replaced my Linksys and cabled up my two computers and printer to the new local network.

I used my laptop to see where the dynamic gateway was and then logged on to the router. I made my account non-default, named my two wifi networks to match what I had been called them and set the same wifi password.

UP came my network. I then looked to their hints about the security software, turned it on and tightened it up because some of what they allow for by default, I no longer do. I used to enable Windows Remote Desktop into my home to check business email while at my software job.

Today, my network is simpler in access needs and now thanks to the ASUS RT-AX86U AX5700 more secure. Cyber Terrorism is only going to get worse and there are enough Mac computers to justify virus and malware for this platform too.

B&H outdid themselves and my router came in little over 24 hours!.

I have own this router for a month and I found several issues with this router compared to the AC86U that I also own: (1) Random WAN disconnect: disconnect results in lost of internet connection. A manual reboot is required to resume connection to WAN.

(Note that I do not need to reboot my “modem”, but only the AX86U to get WAN connection working again) Sometimes it happen in once a week, other time it happen 2 – 3 times within 24 hours. (2) 2. 4Ghz Connection with IOT devices: some smart plugs have hard time staying connected with default settings, you will need to tweak your settings and you may (or may not) fix it.

My 2 year old AC86U do not have this problem. (3) AiMesh interface: the interface is not as good as the AC86U. It seems more like an unpolished new router. There is no Uplink/Downlink speed information like the AC86U.

(4) AiMesh if using 2. 4ghz as Wireless Back haul: Aimesh wireless back haul frequency is auto negotiation. The frequency used cannot be defined manually. If the router automatically negotiate to use 2.

4Ghz, you are almost not able to even stream on youtube as the speed become so slow (remember Aimesh: 1 node speed cut in half in an ideal world), plus I believe with stability issue with this router mentioned above), you can only use that connection to browse static webpage.

(5) Wireless back haul feature: Since you cannot manually choose which frequency to use (2. 4Ghz or 5Ghz) as wireless back haul, it does automatically choose the best (or worst) connection at negotiation.

Once the back haul connection is established, the back haul frequency will not change even when there is a better connection (move from 2. 4Ghz to 5Ghz). Chances of getting an automatic connection to 5ghz as back haul with a reboot seems to be a matter of “luck” (maybe 70% chance), If it happens to be on 2.

4ghz back haul connection, you will either need to reboot or update wireless setting (for example: turn on or off WiFi signal. Another problem related to wireless back haul is that if you were trying to update the router’s wireless setting (for example turn on/off guest Wifi), the router will renegotiate the wireless back haul connection and it can cause it to switch from 5ghz to 2.

4ghz connection. Again, once negotiation is completed, the connection will get stuck forever until you “force” another wireless settings update (so it will refresh the AiMesh connection) or reboot. The good (when it works): speed is great, plug in a USB HDD, and it max out the LAN gigabit transfer rate.

At 5ghz back haul, the AiMesh speed seems to be ok, I am able to get up-to 544mbps. However, since there are still so many advance features that do not work well, I CANNOT recommend this to anyone.

I purchased this during a black Friday sale and must say that for the price ($29. 99 when purchased) this is an amazing value. I bought this to replace an aging 2017 era Roku Premiere 4K (non HDR version) which was starting to feel sluggish and not as responsive as it once did.

The Streaming Stick 4K is much more compact (a dongle versus a countertop box) and can be plugged directly into the HDMI port so you don’t even need an HDMI cable to use it. Having said that, I needed an HDMI extender cable, which is not included in the package.

Roku does offer you that you can order one for free though, but if you ask me they should have just included it in the box. Other than that minor gripe, this is a really great value for the money, even at it’s $49.

99 retail price. Do try and get it though when on sale as the value is just way better. Speaking of features and usability the Streaming Stick 4K offers the updated Roku enhanced remote (the mid tier model, aka the one without the always on mic and rechargeable battery) which can also control the power and volume controls on your TV.

This is great because on one of the televisions I have uses the Roku as a pseudo cable box (we have Spectrum and use the Roku app) so not having to look for and use multiple remotes to control the TV is pretty nice.

The UI is typical Roku, so if you’ve used a Roku in the past it’s pretty much the same as before (NOT a bad thing!). If this is your first time using Roku just know the UI is pretty basic but again, that can be a good thing, especially for folks who may not be tech savvy.

All in all I’m giving this Roku 5 stars because of it’s value overall. It’s a typical Roku experience but for the money it’s tough competition for the likes of Apple TV (of which I also own), especially when you can get the Apple TV+ app on Roku.

If you’re looking for a streaming box/stick and are on a budget you can’t go wrong with Roku!.

This is the 3rd Roku I have purchased. I have the oldest “shelf-top” Roku device with a remote that allows me to plug in some earphones without getting up. The jack is on the side of the remote. This one is in the man-cave so when my wife wants to go to bed early, I’m not killing her with my Klipsch speakers LOL.

The second Roku is a slightly smaller box that I was able to stick to the bottom of the TV – and is nearly invisible. I like this one because it has the added option of turning on/off the TV with the Roku remote.

This one is in the bedroom. This latest purchase is a simply stick, attached to the HDMI Port 2, and has recently become our go-to device instead of the set-top box with Android installed. The remote is good, volume button controls the TV Vol, and not some arbitrary control within the stick itself.

This presents one with a greater range of volume when one wants. The Mute button is right below the volume and is handy for phone calls, etc. The only thing I wish was that I could attach a finger-mouse (2.

4Ghz or BT), but this stick is too small for external ports. However, that being said, this stick is now on our large TV in the Living Room for everyone to utilize. I wish Roku made some reasonably priced Set-Top boxes with external ports for memory/devices, however, we are quite happy with this latest purchase – it does what it advertises and has many “surprises” with the settings I think folks will like.

And all the “free” TV shows and Movies on the Roku Channel are a Bonus! 4. 5/5 ☼’s.

I have had a few Roku over the years and each one of them works better than the last. I don’t know what all these other bad reviews are about except maybe they are paid shills to try to make Roku look bad because they come up against the established big companies.

Ever since I have had a Roku I have saved money, gotten better things to watch plus realized how much more exciting it is to get away from preprogrammed TV. Roku is user friendly and easy to set up and worth every penny.

I bet if any of these bad reviewers had called customer service they would have gotten a free replacement. That’s what made me realize that those one star commenters are probably people who are paid by Roku’s competition to try to make Roku look bad.

I have two TV’s and my Mom’s house hold of four TV’s making a total of six TV’s that all have had Roku’s over 7 to 8 years and they all work perfectly and have had different reasons for replacements over the years.

Roku’s probably need to be replaced around three years because it is just a little device that gave you plenty of service for your money. Also you always get new features that can’t be updated on your older Roku.

Anyways I did not like seeing all those one stars and put my 8 year experience down for others to see how good Roku is. Good job Roku!!.

A few quirks that still need to be worked out on this thing as far as exiting menus etc, then having to physically go to the host PC to close down, restart steam etc. Sometimes have issues with lag over my home network.

Since games often require such precise control and reaction times, it can be a bit frustrating to play with. When it is working well though, it doesn’t seem to be much of an issue. I noticed that reducing resolution settings to 720p made the steam link go from unplayable to playable at least over my home network.

Also, connecting my pc that is actually running games and steam on my home network directly to the router over ethernet helped improve the stream quality even though I was still using wifi from my living room tv for the SteamLink.

EVen with it’s shortcomings I’ll still give the SteamLink a four star review, simple because it basically gets the job done for a really reasonable price point.

Fast setup, didn’t even need to read the instructions. It’ll walk you through setting up your controllers, link it to your pc via the code it gives you and bam like 5 minutes from it being in the box to playing games with your dad on the tv.

Awesome little box, barely warms up a little after playing it for a few hours, it is smaller then it looks! I was expecting it top be around the size of a router, it’s like half that size little bigger then my wallet is all, Tiny.

Oh and all you do is go to the power option and turn off the big picture mode and you can steam your entire pc and before you know it you’re streaming hulu, netflix, the cw, you name it. Basically it’s like having your beefy pc on any tv in your house without having to move the monster around.

The steam link is easy to set up, definitely use a wired network. There is no noticeable lag, games do have a tendency to freeze more often. This may be due to me running a gtx 570 rather than a more powerful card.

You do end up spending half your time trying to make it work. It loses connection often and for some reason I had to untick the box ‘xbox 360 controls’ to be able to use a wired xbox 360 controller. Then tick it again for other games otherwise the D pad wouldn’t work.

For the price though you can’t really complain. You can close steam big picture and it will duplicate your pc monitor. You haven’t lived till you’ve played Pokemon yellow on a 50” screen.

If you are needing a Wi-Fi router/cable modem combo that will pull actual Gigabit speeds for a few devices without much fuss, this one is perfect. That is what I required of mine when purchased a year ago and that is what I got.

If you want to to stream 4k quality TV in one room while you browse online for a new router/modem while your wife and daughter are watching TikTok on their phones and your son is using his PlayStation to test if the “unlimited data” promise from your ISP is truly unlimited, with a couple devices on Wi-Fi here and there, this modem is for you.

Mine handled all that and more for a year with little issue. Now, if I want to do some gaming with my kids… FAT CHANCE. Even with everything else disconnected, three game systems are just too much for this thing to handle and you should not expect it too.

Taking away one star because the Arris is not actually Arris, it is Commscope and the app that they push on you is complete garbage that never works and their “customer service” goes no further than “have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?” Beyond that and you’re on your own.

Additionally, the manufacturers warranty will have you without a modem for two weeks unless you want to shell out $100 to pay for “advanced replacement”. I recommend the replacement warranty offered by BestBuy for this device and I rarely ever say that.

We were looking for a decent cable modem & router for our apartment, so that we need not squander money paying Comcast to rent one of theirs. The reviews on this one looked good, so I pulled the trigger.

It’s a nice package, with a compact footprint which is nice. Setup via the free app software was tolerably easy. The MAC ID on this modem is not clearly identified: there are 2 of them, which differ by one character.

This caused confusion and delay when setting it up with the cable company, but once resolved ceased to be an issue. Signal strength is not as good as what you would get with a dedicated router with adjustable antennas; the thick brick walls also impede signal at the other end of the house, and was easily remedied with a $20 mesh extender.

Throughput is decent and as-advertised; note that this unit is best for households with routine data loads, rather than multiple persons streaming 8K video. For a normal user looking for a decent household modem/router, this is a good product.

I like this modem/router a LOT! It performs! I have been struggling for the past 2 years with a Spectrum supplied Technicolor modem/router. Had all kinds of glitches and irregularities with it. I couldn’t get the speeds and performance I was paying for.

Finally had enough. I couldn’t be happier with this Arris G34 modem/router combo. I have had and used many different brands of modems and routers over the years. I am very pleased with this G34. It does what it says – no if, ands or buts.

It was easy to set up. I didn’t use the App. I like to use the user interface – 192. 168. 0. 1. I had everything configured as I wanted it in a few minutes. I have a couple devices that need assigned (static) IP addresses on my network.

Doing that was a breeze with this router. The user interface in this router is probably the easiest I have ever used. I highly recommend this modem/router combo. I am now getting the speeds I should have been getting.

I am happy to know that I have the latest technology. The WiFI 6 capability and performance is phenomenal! Highly Recommend this modem/router.

***This review is for the PROART X570-CREATOR WIFI, but it isn’t listed on here to review*** 3 years ago I built a budget PC thinking it would be a great PC for many different task. But after a few months of using it, it wasn’t up to par for what I intended the use for it.

It had a B450-A motherboard with a RX570 GPU. Decided to upgrade and build my ultimate PC and settled on the PROART X570-CREATOR WIFI, problem was, I assume that with the shortage of everything in the world and AMD coming out with the AMD5 chip, this board was pulled from the market.

Whatever the case maybe, I did find one and ordered it. I have paired this with a Ryzen 9 5900x, RTX3080 TI, G. Skill Trident Neo 3600Mhz 64gb Ram and Samsung 980 Pro NMVe and I can say that I finally got the Ultimate PC that I was looking for.

I have benchmarked it, and the only thing that is not up to par is my dual AOC 4K 60hz monitors. This will be my next upgrade and I will truly have a PC that I can rock for 5 years minimum. Not much to say about the Motherboard itself, but it did have plenty of NVMe slots (3 in total) SATA connection, ARGB, Fan Headers etc.

It did have USB 3. 2 Gen 1 header which made it nice for the USB-C port on the case. it is a huge improvement form my B450 motherboard for sure.

I am sending this board under warranty, I have a weird problem, never experienced before, the PC won’t reboot, and when it does it won’t start the system. You have to disconnect the power source for the system to start, even when it is turned off by windows.

Check everything, another processor, another ram, another power source, no storage drives, everything. update the bios to the latest version, reset it, load profiles, nothing worked. the conclusion, board failure.

hopefully from asus they can give me a new one and thus try everything again.

Very good motherboard. A true creator’s dream. All the ports you need. Enough ports for storage. Good utility software. Easy guide to safe overclocking. A WiFi and Bluetooth antenna included. It’s a very good Motherboard did I mention it has TWO thunderbolt 4 ports?.
