20 Best Under Hood Rodent Repeller (2023 Updated)

I was so excited to try this product for our lake house! We have used standard traps in previous years and always hated “baiting” them as I felt it was encouraging the mice to come indoors. This repellant does the opposite and keeps them away.

We used a little more than 1/2 the bottle for our small cottage home, spraying only on the outside and the exposed cement foundation as there was snow on the ground. The citrussy spray smells strong but is pleasant and not overpowering.

We checked the home 2 weeks later and there were no mice in the indoor traps! We resprayed, using the rest of the bottle and revisited the home and again there was no indication that mice had gotten in (no droppings or other visual signs of entry).

The label has a lot more information than the Walmart listing so I am including those as part of my review. The results are encouraging, and I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a safe and humane alternative to keeping rodents out of your belongings.

This product does what it says and more. I’ve been using this product for a few years now. I’m told I could probably stop because I’m good, probably don’t need to use it anymore. But, I still use it every week or every other week.

You won’t be sorry if you purchase this product. I’m actually due to buy my next gallon. It lasts pretty Long depending on the areas you need to address.

Along with Victor peppermint packets, this stuff worked great for keeping mice out of my car over the winter! In winters past mice always found their way into my ’97 Taurus SHO over the winter. Not any more! I sprayed this stuff everywhere on the underside of the car, all over the engine compartment, and even a bit on the carpet.

Despite the ingredients, this stuff doesn’t smell that bad. But I guess rodents must really not like it. Good!.

This product works for me. This is an alternative to killing critters. This product keeps mice and other rodent like creatures away from your property and home. I use a yard sprayer to spray garage, attic, house and yard.

The critters will leave.

My daughter and I just bought our first home and we were all excited to start moving stuff in. We were all happy the seller moved all of her crap out of the house, than we come downstairs and realized the seller nicely left all the mouse crap in the cabinet so when the sample came for rodent repellent, we got a little too excited for rodent repellent than most other people would have and when It came the full size product in the mail and not a coupon it just made it even better.

we quickly came downstairs opened it up read the instructions. it’s smell just like a Christmas tree !!! Lab tested -safe-not some trap where you have to kill the mouse and dispose of it and all that fun stuff.

My daughter doesn’t like mice either do I but it’s a whole different story seeing one in a trap like that. Rodent repellent works great so far there haven’t been any new mouse droppings in their favorite hang out Spot so I feel that the cute little smelling Christmas tree like bag has… shut down !!the mass hangout spot and they have moved on elsewhere !!definitely try it! It’s safer, more appealing -you don’t have to worry about a cat or child putting their hand in a mouse trap and getting it broke or cut off or stuck to the thing of glue.

Definitely a better safe alternative and that it really smells like a Christmas tree. If you have company over no one would think it’s a mouse repellent. Thank you social nature for helping repell the mice and now my daughter an sleep better at night!.

I am always searching for a more natural way to deter rodents & pest! When i discovered EarthKind’s FreshCab Botanical Natural Rodent Repellant, i just HAD to try it!! This was a complimentary sample from Social Nature in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve been using this product for about 2 weeks now, and so far have been pretty impressed! I noticed rodent activity in my bathroom & kitchen areas. After placing these repellents in each area. there has been NO SIGN OF ACTIVITY ! I leave traps as well! The product has a strong scent, and is discreet enough to not alarm the rodent.

It’s worked so far, so thats a plus! ⭐ I have still had to set traps for other areas of my home, as 2 repellants only cover a small area! I live in the woods, so it’s not uncommon for this type of issue.

Lol! I typically purchase & look for longer term/fast acting deterrents. but am still very pleased with the results of this product so far.

So I have only used this for about a week or so. I can’t say for sure it is working? I haven’t seen Any evidence of little mice running about, and this is the time of year when they begin trying to come inside the house.

I live near a huge wooded area so every year in fall, Mice and moles make their way to my basement (still have NO IDEA HOW THEY GET IN!!) AND usually I hear them scrambling around at night. I used to use little snap traps or poison and put them in this old unfinished closet down in the basement, away from my cats! It worked but I hate killing them.

I just don’t want them In my house. Lol. this little repellant bag would be Awesome if it worms like it says!! It doesn’t smell bad but doesn’t smell good. Essential oil kind of snell, like your grandmas old popperi bags.

I set it on the shelf in that closet a week ago So far haven’t heard any mice running at night. So maybe it is working? I will update in ab a month and let you know! It’s also safe around kids and dogs which is a huge bonus for me! It’s small so you can put them anywhere.

I decided to give Mighty Mint Rodent Repellant a try this for this winter. We don’t have a garage or shed so we just stow our lawn mower, bikes, yard and gardening tools and other things under our large back porch but it backs up to the woods and we are surrounded by forest.

Earlier this year in the spring when we pulled the lawn mower out to use, a large snake rode out with it! We also found old snake skin under the porch as well as in the large crawl space under the house.

We have also looked out our back windows on occasion to find opossums walking around our elevated back porch, raccoons going through our trash cans, and the squirrels act like they live here. We also have a culvert in front that seems to draw all the rodent life to it.

So after we mowed the yard for the last time this season I sprayed down the lawn mower as well as the whole under deck area and everything else there. I also sprayed the top of the back porch, the front porch, in and all around the culvert, our outdoor seating area, under the house in the crawl space and just about all around the whole outside of the house.

I also sprayed a good amount around the mailbox hoping that this will work for dogs as well. I went ahead and sprayed around and under my husband’s car too. He only drives it once a month or so since it has become more of a project car and I worry about rodents getting into the car and under the hood with the cold weather coming.

This Mighty Mint rodent spray has a really great smell, just like straight up peppermint. It looks like it’s in a white bottle but it’s not, it’s actually in a clear bottle. I feel great about trying this too as it’s made in the USA and only has 3 ingredients and is safe for indoor as well as outdoor use.

I have a two year son and a five year old son so I like to use household products that I don’t have to worry about when they eat food off of the floor or lick the windows! It’s only been about two weeks since I sprayed everything down but I have noticed that the squirrels and opossums are staying away.

Hello review readers. I currently reside in a townhouse. My ground level floor has a garage, bedroom, and bathroom. This spray was intended for the garage and my SUV parted in it simply because it’s all kind of critters living in there.

So let start with the vehicle. I’m a stay at home mom so I don’t drive my vehicle to offend. Every time I get in the car there’s a spiderweb somewhere in there in which super disgusting. I tried this in the car first waited a few days and it work so well I thought maybe I’ll give it a try in the garage as well.

To my surprise it work in the garage as well so I thought let me try this in the bathroom and door way entry. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING results!!!!!! Now let get into the product. if you love the smell of peppermint you’ll definitely love this product like I do.

Try and spray inside your vehicle only necessary spots the smell can get a bit overwhelming very quickly and I would also recommend that your spray in spots that are not visible to the eye (for example around the doors, under seats, under dash) simply because this product does leave a small residue and if your anything like me I like my car nice and neat.

Now for the house. of course in the garage I was able to spray any and everywhere in there however inside the door entry way and the bathroom and bedroom I chose to only spray around the baseboards it dried very quickly and gave me wonderful smell with OUTSTANDING RESULTS!!!!!! I also sprayed this product around the outside door way entry and also the garage door for spiders as well.

NO MORE WALKING THROUGH SPIDERWEBS COMING INSIDE MY HOME!!!! I definitely didn’t expect to get the results that I did from this product and have already recommended to my family.

A squirrel was entering our attic and getting inside the external wall of my daughter’s bedroom. Although we never saw the squirrel, we heard it scratching quite often, especially late in the evening and early in the morning.

Finding a way to plug in the device in the attic was a bit of a problem (I had to replace the single bulb fixture with a fixture with a outlet plug). As soon as I turned the device on, we heard scampering, then silence.

I placed the device as close to the problem area as possible. I was bit doubtful, since I have quite a bit of insulation on the attic floor, so the sound waves have to penetrate the insulation and then go to the wall below the attic floor.

Nonetheless, It has been about 6 weeks and we have not heard the squirrel since. We are very happen. We do not hear the device, nor does it bother our pet rabbits (admittedly they are several floors below the attic as we live in a tall urban rowhouse).

It really works! I have chipmunks living near my generator. A big hole was dug about 2 feet from it. I was concerned about damage. So I tried various remedies. Filled the hole with cayenne pepper, filled in the hole, sprinkled the cayenne pepper over the area.

3 days later, the hole was back. I did the same with Peppermint. Same result. Went to buy an over the counter spray at the hardware store. It smelled awful. I was sure this would do it. Same result. Poured a gallon of white vinegar down the hole.

Same result. Bought moth balls to fill in the hole. Same result. The most they would not re-dig their hole was 3 days. I bought this product. Day 6 – NO HOLE! Very, very pleased!.

I have one plugged in by my front door. Also put another in the garage when we noticed some rodent activity in the area due to some construction. I’ve seen one rat – it approached the back of the house and turned around and went back the way it came.

One did get up to the house when we had a heavy snow storm and died directly under the unit. Not a fun thing to find but it probably couldn’t find it’s way out. Who knows how these things think. No activity in the garage.

Didn’t work for me. I was very skeptical as products that claim to repel pests using smell or sound have never worked for me. I put it to the test and plugged it in the basement in an area where I usually find mice.

My “control” so to speak was to set a mouse trap two feet away from this product. Three days later I had a mouse in the trap. I suppose the smell of peanut butter could have been a stronger attractant than the smell that was suppose to repel them? I’ll stick to a good old fashioned mouse trap.

I live in a semirural area where mice or rats can get in anytime of year, but especially during the early Fall months when outdoor temperatures drop. I found it quite easy to hook up the spray attachment to the container.

I was not sure about the sprayer needing batteries at first, but when I operated it, I found that it sprayed very evenly and smoothly. If a person did not want a spray handle that uses batteries, the product can also be emptied into another spray bottle.

This is a very minor concern, since the product is only used about once per month. I sprayed this product in my laundry room and porch, which is where they tend to find a way in. I would say “so far, so good,” at this time, since I have not seen any rodents since I first sprayed this Tomcat repellent a week ago.

I did recently hear a mouse rooting around in a closet about 2 weeks ago, but since spraying this product, I have not seen or heard a mouse. I would have to use this product for a longer time to determine if it works over a long-term period, however, such as all through the Fall and Winter seasons.

As far as the scent, it has a very natural, fresh peppermint scent. It also contains cinnamon and garlic, but I do not pick up these scents much since the peppermint overshadows any possible stronger, offensive garlic smells it may have.

The scent is moderately strong and does linger on for several hours, so if strong peppermint scents bother you, you may want to use it at night or when you are not home. I really like that this product is totally natural and does not have any strong chemical ingredients or toxins, since I do have a dog in the house.

I recommend this to anyone who needs or wants a natural product to use that is also effective to repel rodents.

We have some neighborhood stray cats, so I was looking for something to put around the house that wouldn’t harm them. The Tomcat rodent repellent spray seemed like a good option. I’ve only done 2 applications so far.

I did all around the exterior of the house and then the garage walls and just inside the garage door to try and keep the rodents from entering the garage. It rained, so I did the exterior again and went ahead and doubled up inside the garage even though I probably didn’t need to since the rain wouldn’t affect that area.

Included sprayer is easy to use and works well. Although there is an initial scent when spraying it dissipates within a hour. After initial use it was sort of hard to tell if it was working or not, so I decided to spray around the deck as we do have racoons that like to venture onto our deck.

I can say in the 3 days since spraying the deck the racoons haven’t triggered our camera. Could just be a coincidence and only time will tell. So far I’m mixed as I can’t tell if it’s discouraging rodents or not inside the house and only time will tell.

Our neighborhood has suddenly become the target of roof rats! They came into the house. I still don’t know how. I purchased and used traps, but I could still find signs of rats inside the house. I purchased one of these, uncertain as to how effective it would be.

I was surprised that, even though the triangle strobe light housing was loose when I received it, it actually seemed to pursuade the beasties to leave the areas in which I used it. The unit has several ways to function.

I purchased this to put near a car in my metal building because I have been having trouble with rats getting in the engine. I have night vision cameras there and had recordings of a rat moving around in the engine compartment every night this week.

I received this item Friday and placed it at the front of the engine compartment with the hood open and there was no sign of any rats since then. Fingers crossed that this does the trick to keep them out of my car.

Its much smaller than I expected and the strobe lights don’t seem that bright, but the animal noises it makes are really cool. I am happy to have one that I can plug-in and I wont have to worry about changing batteries.

I appreciate that Stay Away Rodent is natural and repels the rodents as opposed to killing them, which is messy and not something I like to do.

It’s also safe for pets and children, and non-toxic, which is important for me, since I have several cats (lazy cats, obviously, but I still love them). This product is easy to remove from the packaging and place anywhere I need.

The smell is natural and strong, but not overpowering. I just began using this product about two weeks ago and haven’t had any rodent issues yet, and I don’t anticipate having any! The packaging says it should last 30 days, so my only complaint would be that I wished each packet lasted longer and wouldn’t need to be placed so close together (8 square feet apart).

Other than this, I’m thrilled that this product exists and plan to continue to purchase it.

#1 Animal Repeller worked so good in the 14KW Whole House Generator, that I bought #2 Repeller, to place during the Winter down-time into our John Deere Lawn Tractor. Initially, the generator technician was stymied on what was eating the cables in the generator.

He brought his boss, the CEO & Founder, to look at it. They found many bites taken out of critical cables & had to replace them. Nothing worked to repel the invaders. We discovered that Field Mice were building nests in the generator, using rubber, plastic, etc.

Wandering thru my local Hardware store, I found your innovative product, bought it, and put it into the generator. Several months later, the technician returned to do a follow-up inspection. and said “No sign of the Mice.

Generator looks good. ” Now 2 years later, still No Varmint Invaders in the generator. So, bought #2 Repeller for the John Deere.

Ordered one a couple of months ago and appears to be working. This winter will tell the story. Mice (?) were building a nest on top of the cabin filter in our Toyota Tacoma pick-up. It is right behind the glove box, so I just sit the chaser in the glove box.

Makes it easier to turn on and off. Ironically neither my wife nor I can hear it unless we put it up to our ears. Younger people can hear it a few feet away if I am just holding it. Am ordering two more for our other vehicles as one has shown signs over past two years of varmint storing nuts and so forth for the winter.

I believe this repel method has helped keep the rodents from chewing through the vehicle’s wiring system. We’ve had the wires destroyed plenty of times so we were desperate. The moth balls & dryer sheets did nothing that were recommended by other farmers.

The unit takes a few minutes to install new c batteries & to make sure the gasket is in place but at this point in this game we’ll try anything.

I received a bag of this rodent repellant in exchange for my honest review. It smells like natural herbs and essential oils and is in a small pouch that doesn’t take up too much room. We moved a little over a year ago but I wish I had these at our old house.

Mice would come in from our neighbors’ house and it was a nightmare trying to get rid of them. We used death traps since they were the only ones that were proven to work but I hated how inhumane they are.

I like that these help prevent rodents from infesting the area. I will add this to my storage unit to prevent rodents. I wish they lasted longer than 30 days though. It could be a costly investment.

I bought a Large Century home about a year ago and soon noticed I had a mouse problem. I have been battling it with various traps and sometimes feel like I’m chasing my own tail. Lol. As you know, traps are messy and unappealing to handle after the fact no matter which style that one uses, even catch and release; so this product is Very attractive to me as it is All Natural and poses No danger to pets or humans.

Also, every part and parcel of this products packaging and container is biodegradable and or recyclable which is a favorable approach to waste management and disposal. So, my view towards the use of this product, at least for the first time; was to lay it on Heavy in areas that I thought it would be most effective.

It is Very Aromatic so for me I used it in all of the outside places that I felt would cause a deterrence such as the basement windowsills that I have 4 of. I also used it around the ground level ventilation pipes and dryer vent.

Then as I was getting ready to go back in the house it dawned on me, Duh, why not spray at the bottom of the front and back screen doors. Then I took that one step further and sprayed all along the bottom of the garage door from the outside and then the inside with the door down both ways.

Spraying with the door up would not be something I recommend because as I said, this product is Quite aromatic to be purposeful and one wouldn’t want the wind to bring it back at you. I haven’t noticed any little critters since spraying but the instructions say to repeat every few days.

It does seem to be a very environmentally and non-offensive way of prevention verses trapping them in the home after the fact!-).

I live in an area where it gets cold in the fall. This product came just as the cold weather was coming in and that generally means rodents, snakes and spiders migrate in for shelter. I live in a neighborhood that is surrounded by open fields and at the base of a mountain, so there are a lot of rodents that need a warm place for winter.

We sprayed the perimeter of our house – inside and outside – about a week ago and haven’t seen any signs of activity. I don’t know if it’s supposed to work for spiders, but we’ve also seen none of those and we usually would.

No little mice tracks along the garage wall yet – so we are hoping that’s a good sign. It’s easy to use, it comes in a spray bottle and you just spray it along the ground. It’s smells STRONG. When we did the inside of the house we did choose a day that was about 68 degrees Fahrenheit and we did open all the windows along the walls we sprayed it in.

The smell isn’t bad – it’s literally just mint – but when you spray the bottom along the wall along an entire room it’s overwhelming. We still have a minty fresh whiff once in a while. In retrospect, we probably should have just sprayed the actually doorways and along windows and not the whole perimeter inside.

It doesn’t come with any real instructions. We are happy with it so far. There is a lot in the bottle, so we’ll probably spray again in a few weeks just to be safe. We also have 2 cats and a dog and they don’t like the smell.

I HAVE BEEN USING FRESH CAB FOR 9 YRS. MICE DESTROYED MY POPUP CAMPER, BUT NOT MY FISHING BOAT PARKED IN SAME STORAGE BUILDING. ONLY HAD FRESH CAB IN BOAT. BIG MISTAKE!!

It worked great to keep squirrels away from my cars underhood. Its 15 days since I am using this and is working fine. I did splash some water on it while I was pressure washing squirrels poop and food off of the engine bay, but its still working perfectly.

I purchased this to keep raccons & cats from getting under my hood. It simply does not work. It makes a click noise every minute or so but has absolutely no effect on animals at all. I even placed it in front of my cat’s face and he did nothing! Racoons actually crawled under the hood and laid down right beside it.

Got a problem with VW golf where after car parked outside rats discovered that they may sit on top of huge flat air intake under hood and stay worm till morning. After I zip tied this device under hood – did not got any rat droppings anymore thru rest of the winter.

I almost bought the 12volt (connect to a specific vehicle version) but then it would always be connected and operating. I didn’t want or need the protection or strange looks as the vehicle sat in the employee parking lot etc.

Having the 110v version allows me to unplug and drive to work, church or the store.

I bought a couple more of these for my shop because the first one I put in my garage at home worked so well. These things do a great job of keeping mice and other critters from taking up residence in your car, truck, RV, etc.

I bought a 120 volt and a 12 volt, both for my motorhome. So far I’ve only used the 120 volt in the basement storage area and its appears to working like a champ. No signs of rodents so far. I will hook the 12 volt up once we’re done camping for the year to keep the critters out of the engine compartment.

I live in a 1 bedroom apt in one of the most mouse-infested neighborhoods in Baltimore. Before you jump to the wrong conclusions. I DO NOT live in a slum; contrarily, I live in a highly wooded area where pests are common.

We have mice, stray cats, racoons, etc. For the past several months, my kitchen has been visited by a mouse that has resisted peanut butter-laced traps, and every other kind of bait you can think of but after installing these repellers, I have not seen ONE mouse dropping.

The manufacturer recommends that you take a two-pronged approach by continuing to put down traps and poison, but since I plugged in my three petchaser repellers, I have seen NO signs of ANY mice in my apartment.

One is installed in my kitchen, at counter-level and two are in my dining room. I will definitely be going back to Walmart to get three more. One for my living room and two for my bedroom. I can DEFINITELY say that this purchase was well worth it!.

we’ve had mice in the basement after every major rain this spring. traps got them out but wanted to stop them coming in. Set up a couple of these and knock on wood, nothing so far. Put two in opposite corners of our basement and another by the food pantry upstairs just in case.

the light is a nice touch for where we have them and so far there are no new mice catches. We have cats and next door has a dog. They don’t seem to be affected at all by it.

I’ve been using these for at least 5 years and they seem to reduce mouse issues. I still use poison because in the fall mice seem to be into everything. My primary use is on an extension cord under the engine block of a truck in the barn and jeep in my garage.

My only problem is I don’t know when to replace them. I currently do it once a year and write a date on the unit. That way when it is too old as a mouse repellant, it is still a good night-lite. Price could be better.
