20 Best Tick And Flea Shampoo For Dogs (2023 Updated)

We just emptied out a cabinet filled with so many “highly recommended” shampoos for dogs. I plan to donate them to a local shelter. TropiClean Medicated Oatmeal and Tea Tree dog shampoo is all that our fur-baby needs to keep her gorgeous hair clean and shiny.

Her hair is long and blonde. She is a rescue and DNA testing said she is part Shih Tzu, part Lhasa, part Yorkie with a little Chi thrown in the mix. Most shampoos lathered okay but after rinsing her hair was stiff.

Using a rinse helped but left her hair flat and limp. TropiClean always leaves her with full gorgeous soft shiny hair. Everyone says she is so beautiful but I know this shampoo is the reason. We will never switch shampoos again! This one is the BEST for our little princess!.

This shampoo works great! I just used it on my GSD/Husky mix in the beginning of May in the Midwest (for coat reference). It works best if you use some type of powered sprayer (like a waterpik) and some good grooming gloves.

Wet, later with shampoo, let it sit for 2 to 3 mins, and then repeat that process again. Yes, shampoo twice. The second time is when you will see the hair start to loosen. Be prepared to do the work.

I use an undercoat rake and have a high velocity dryer. This shampoo will loosen the hair, but you need to be able to commit to getting it all out. I was getting comb fulls upon combs fulls of hair out with my brush and had to use the dryer multiple times to continue to pull hair up.

Follow up with a leave in conditioning spray to soften the coat.

Honestly, bath time with Espree shampoo might seem pretty average at first. Decent lather, rinses easily, and the “calming waters” scent is just a fresh, clean smell (definitely not floral or fruity).

But it’s always in the days AFTER bathing with Espree that I am so IMPRESSED! Like many dogs, my Yorkies typically look and smell heavenly for 2-3 days after their baths, before they return to being smelly, greasy little dust mops again.

But with Espree, my dogs hold onto that “just washed” look and feel–shiny coat, fluffy hair, and pleasant smell–for at least a good week or more. I rotate between several quality shampoos and conditioners with my Yorkies, but Espree products always win for the longest-lasting clean!.

My dog is an unknown mix breed, (rescue), probably mini poodle & Bichon Frise. He is estimated 6 years old, & had skin problems since we’ve had him, 3 years ago. Itching, flaky, smelly & infected skin.

My vet prescribed Allergy pills, and using medicated shampoo, along with Allergi shots. It help for several seasons, untill diagnosed with STAPH infection several month ago, managed to treat as well.

But “old” skin infection reaccured, & medicated shampoo useless. Vet reccomandad this shampoo. I’ve used it twice, as directed. Pro – itch relief for 2 days. Cons – Need to wash him every 2 days – Shampoo’s scent is bed!!! – Skin not moisture enough.

Still flaky. I’ll give it one more try, yet already got another oat based shampoo, if not happy with results.

I am a Doodle breeder so I wash a lot of puppies and I want my puppies to look and smell clean when they meet their new families! I recently discovered Natures Specialties line of grooming products and so far this one is my favorite! Second pick would be the Quicker Slicker – Leave-In conditioner and together they work perfectly for the “just back from the groomer” smell and look! The Almond Crisp smells like Almonds and it gets them super clean and shiny.

without making them look too frizzy which is a common issue for Doodles and Poodle’s after a bath with harsher to! This shampoos. It must be magic! Haha! The Quicker Slicker also does what it says it helps them to dry much quicker and it also smells good without being TOO perfumey.

Just received this product today. Gave my dog a bath and this stuff smell great, it is very lathery so you don’t have to use a lot. She has short hair but sheds somewhat. Her fur looks very bright and she smells great too.

I love that it has aloe, my dog has allergies to grass, hoping this might help. Definitely would recommend.

Adopted a pocket bully from a lady 2 weeks ago and noticed he had what she called ‘hotspots’ ALL OVER him. We felt so bad and wanted to do something quick but wasn’t sure wat it was exactly that he was enduring.

So we picked up coconut oil and fish oil pills to start him on for his coat and skin. Well as healed within a week but noticed REALLY inflamed and almost bleeding rashes on back of his neck and knew we had to do something.

Went to Walmart today and found this stuff because we came to the conclusion it has to be se type of skin condition dermititis or parasitic. wasn’t too sure but his skin was soooo dandruffy and flaking.

Used this as soon as we got home. Followed directions. Left on for 15 minutes. after he dried off noticed NO DANDRUFF FLAKES!! I rubbed down his back and his back wasn’t crunching up from inflammation like it usually does wen I softly scratch down his back.

instantly shiny and softer. Happy dog. Neck sores aren’t irritating him and are clearly already in healing process.

My dog is being treated for lice he picked up somewhere. Lice don’t like tea tree. This shampoo really helped with his itching and killing more lice. I do not like the smell of tea tree myself but this shampoo has a pleasant scent.

I am very happy with it have used it on all my dogs which are now lice free! I will definitely buy this product again.

This Flea and Tick Scrub is amazing!!! I tried plenty of useless products to no avail and I was getting to my wit’s end trying to find a solution. Especially since the fleas were causing one of my German Shepard’s to develop a skin allergy.

I had no idea what else I could do to get rid of the fleas. Flea shampoo’s did not work, the Flea drops did not work,I even tried natural remedies and they only helped for a day or two, but nothing was working for either one of my dogs.

Then I saw this product and thought I might as well try it, but I wasn’t expecting any miracles. Lo, and behold I noticed a dramatic difference in the flea population after the first wash. Thank God this product WORKED!! Now the fleas are gone and my pets skin is hydrated, my one German Shepard’s skin problem do to the allergies he developed healed, and it even makes both of my dogs fur feel much softer.

I was skeptical due to some of the reviews, but I’m glad I purchased it anyway. I have a chipom with jack Russell. She’s a 5 month old, and we’re live in the oregon coast. Fleas are a big problem here, and sometimes impossible to get rid of.

When my puppy started itching, I wanted to get a flea treatment from bravecto, but she is too young. And I really didn’t want to give her something that could cause a reaction as severe as death. I used this the first night, and she stopped itching until the next day.

So I have her another bath, and really worked it into her coat. She didn’t itch for 3 days after that. I used it again day before yesterday, and she’s started itching again today. I like how the soap will suds up with a little water.

I basically use the same amount of this soap as I use for my hair (it reaches my bum). I’ve used this 3 times and it barely looks used. This is such a great alternative for puppies.

I love how well it cleans and it’s so gentle to the eyes. All the other tearless shampoos I have used over the past 40 yrs of professional dog grooming, have all made the pets blink when I scrubed around the eyes.

With this shampoo, there is no blinking or squinting of the eyes. It’s the gentlest shampoo I have ever found and it is awesome at cleaning. All of the dogs that I have used this on have smelled so fresh and their coats come out lovely as well.

Awesome shampoo for Chinese Shar Pei. Helps with itchy skin. Our boy gets playful and happy when we use this. Our female is overweight and this shampoo helps with her yeasty smell. We let it sit on their coat for 10 minutes before thoroughly rinsing then apply the zymox conditioner.

It smells really good!.

I had to bathe my 5 year old cat for the first time for what looked to be a possible yeast or bacterial infection on his neck that wouldn’t go away. He’s an indoor/outdoor cat, and had especially scratched one side of his neck bloody – I was worried and had good experience with Vet Formula spray (he hates the smell of that) on another occasion on his belly that that product eliminated the problem quickly.

This shampoo did not dry out his fur or his skin, had a mild grapefruit smell that disappeared after rinsing – awesome; Cats are not grateful to smell of perfumes. It lathered moderately well and rinsed fairly well – I was careful to rinse thoroughly.

His fur was very clean without being stripped – and it did seem to help his condition. He actually seemed relieved. I do believe, however, after the spray and this wash did not stop the itch (continued with the spray for 9 days) that my cat was actually suffering from food allergies – fish.

I knew he had a slight problem that caused an itch, but now even a small amount of fish oil/product is triggering his itching. I eliminated ANY fish, and the wound is healing. So I would recommend this shampoo for helping to start with a clean slate, and I do know the spray with similar ingredients did in fact clear up a fungus/yeast problem when he had a spot on his belly.

The spray rocks! It was hard to find a shampoo for emergencies (because I won’t bathe a cat on a regular basis – only if it’s medically warranted) that is nearly scentless, doesn’t disrupt the skin/fur balance, and doesn’t leave a film or stickiness of any kind.

We adopted a young stray tuxedo cat that wandered up a few months ago. Smitty is currently dealing with a lot of skin allergies and moderate hair loss so I thought I would try out this medicated shampoo.

He’s a good-natured cat so he tolerates baths fairly well, but this bath went way smoother than the last two involving Adams Flea and Tick Shampoo. In fact, about two to three minutes into his sudsy soak time, he seemed to feel some immediate relief from his itchiness.

He became very cooperative as if he understood why the bath was necessary. He’s now passed out, blissfully enjoying an itch-free nap. I also suffer from skin allergies and my reaction to chemicals in soaps is almost instantaneous, but didn’t want to bathe him with rubber gloves like he was some laboratory experiment.

This shampoo actually eased my hand irritation too! So, that was a win. Also, the scent is very pleasant and refreshing. Smitty has a long way to go before his coat fully recovers and many more baths with this shampoo so I will provide an update as to the effectiveness over the next month.

However, I’d recommend this shampoo for animals even without serious skin problems. It worked much better than the oatmeal-based products I used on my dog years ago to relieve itching and seemed to be less irritating than shampoos containing Chlorhexidine.

I expect good results from this product long-term.

When used as directed this product is absolutely amazing. I’ve been using this product on and off for roughly about four and a half years now, my dog is five and a half years old. This has benefited her life in ways that I’ve never seen before.

She has a few health concerns that I have to stay on top of or else she is uncomfortable for about three to five days. She loves this shampoo so much that she knows the smell of it. I could fake her out, but she knows this particular shampoo.

She knows that this will bring her relief and cannot wait to jump into the bath tub to get her bath. Please, when you read the negative reviews I’d like you to keep in mind that variables exist. Someone could be misusing the product even unintentionally.

Someone could be using this product improperly. Or, someone could just be listing off this particular product just by the ingredients. I’ve bought this from many different sources and have never had an issue.

I use as directed when I do use it, and it’s limited to any issues that flare up. Aside from that, rhis isn’t the only shampoo that I use for my dog, but it is the not reliable that I have to relieve irritations.

My girl has been using this for so long that she will ask for a bath with this particular shampoo because she knows what it does.

I bought this product less than a week ago to get rid of some fleas that my dogs picked up on their neighborhood walk. The shampoo killed the fleas on them as described and had their coats looking very clean.

However, less than 3 days later they are covered in fleas AGAIN. This product does not prevent reinfestation as described and I’m not sure what to do since they are getting the fleas from walking around the neighborhood.

This product may kill fleas on contact but it does NOT kill them for 7+ days after application and does nothing to kill flea eggs and larvae for 30 days as advertised.

I appreciate Bravecto’s effectiveness. I’m forced to use the topical version for our pit bull; she detests the oral no matter how much effort and cleverness I devote to getting it down her throat. She has very short fur.

It’s more challenging administering topical to her than it was for our longer-furred dogs. Today she immediately shook off the topical, spraying droplets in a 4 foot radius on the kitchen floor. What I learned today is that for her next dose I will 1) administer it outdoors 2) cover the administered area with Saran wrap for a minute or so, to let as much as possible absorb before she attempts to shake it all off 3) wear rubber gloves If you have other suggestions for the topical, I’d like to hear them.

Our dog is 14, and has some kidney and liver issues, and we did not want to use edibles. So we recently switched to Bravecto Topical. Chewy was great, shipped fast at a good price. Our dog tolerated the topical very well with no skin reaction, unlike prior skin reactions to other brands.

Easy to apply, and the 12 week dose is very convenient. No sign of fleas or ticks still about 7 weeks after application. Definitely a great product and Chewy is very easy to deal with.
