20 Best Surge Protector For Tv And Home Theater System (2023 Updated)

We got a whole home surge protector installed, and bought 3 of these as a back-up/stage 2 for anything that got past the home/stage 1 protector. Loved the design that includes spaces for 6 of the larger electrical “blocks.

” It hooked up fine but I do have one small issue with these outlets. It may not affect you. I mount mine high on the rear of my desk, cabinet, etc to get them off the floor, and also to allow me to turn them on/off easier instead of having to get on the floor or move furniture around in order to get to the switch.

There are 4 slots on the rear of these units to allow you to mount them, using small screws that then slide on the slots. Common idea. Many items allow this. BUT. this design needs some work. First off, INCLUDE THE SCREWS! I made one trip to the hardware store to buy screws, and found that all of them did not have a head thing enough to allow them to slide on to the unit.

b/c the case design does not allow for a normally-sized screw head to be used. I called Tripp-Lite and spoke at length, asking “what are the specs for the screws? You guys have allowed for a screw head of about 1/16” tall.

So far, I have been unable to find one that fits. ” They had no specs or sizes of screws that would work. No knowledge at all. No idea really, about what I was talking about. Multiple people had to get involved in the call, and still, no answers.

I asked “If the specs are so tight that only certain screws will work, why not just include 4 of them in the package?” No real answer. The guy at my hardware store went above and beyond and finally tracked down some “pins” that worked, but they are more like nails, not screws.

And screws would be better to hold the unit on. As I said, might not be an issue for you. But it was for me. More maddening for me was the feeling that 1) they had never had anyone ask for the screws before and 2) I got the feeling that this was the first time they had actually been made to pick up and look at their own product.

About once a year, we get a storm that knocks out everything, and when Consumers Power tries to fix it, they inevitably send a surge. And it always fries my Klipsch. And once again, TrippLite stands behind their warranty.

I am beginning to feel bad about multiple claims for the same problem, but they come through every time. Their process is straight forward and thorough. I am very impressed by their professionalism and results.

Thank goodness in this day and age there is a company that always does the right thing. Again, I won’t mention Yvonne’s name, but she is very good at what she does and a pleasure to work with. She makes the whole process fast and easy.

This is perfect for my living room where I have so many electronics that need to be plugged in. This is great for a gaming console, tv, DVD player, streaming stick, a TV, and a Chromecast with room to spare.

The extra room is nice as some plugs can be bulkier than others. I like that I can slide this vertically against the wall to keep the bulk as thin as possible. It’s nice looking and easy to access. Belkin makes products I trust.

I use them for all my strips, and this one is their normal high quality. I’m slowly updating my house to have newer strips and this is perfect to get started. The cord is long enough for my TV that only has ports on the side farthest away from the outlet because my luck is terrible.

With its reach, I have no issues having everything plugged in safely. I live in a State with extreme weather and we have a ton of blown power boxes. This absolutely keeps me free from worrying about whether or not my expensive electronics are going to be safe.

I also appreciate that you can plug your laptop into this and not worry about the energy being too much when added. 10/10.

This is not my first Dog and Pony Show. The basic setup here is five small buildings filled with radio gear, and one custom trailer with radios, computers and power supplies for very weak signal field activity.

As one could imagine there are several appliances needing to plug into 120 volt sockets. The Belkin Ten-Socket Metal Surgemaster is really the only reliable distribution appliance out there. Okay, I had to modify the setup because there was too much input power cord length.

And, I had to drill little holes in the flanges to screw the ‘Arrestors to wooden bulkheads. Inside, there are bypass ceramic capacitors and Varistor devices. There are pushbutton circuit breakers, and the power switch lights up with an internal neon pilot.

The only way this product could be made better for people like me is to change over to a 12/3 Water-Proof S/O power cord with a suitable box connector, but that is something that would affect the price severely, so it’s better the end-user grab the bull by the horns and do some modding,.

Stuff happens, I have had many power outages since I purchased this item back in ’07 and never had a problem, but my power supply recently went out after the last outage. Nothing else just power supply, again stuff happens.

I sent the protector back to tripp lite because of the warranty and they checked it and found no surges, yet they still honored their warranty and replaced my PSU. Great customer service – again I have plenty of these on other items and never had problems, but it is good to know when stuff happens that their support is right there to stand by their product.

I will never buy any other brand from here on out!.

I am running this off of another Tripp-Lite surge protector so I could add additional outlets at the other end of my 10′ media center, mainly to power my hard drives, modem and usb hub. Thanks to its narrow width, I was able to mount it on the back of a beam for a nice, stealth installation.

It provides plenty of space for some of the larger plugs and wall warts, without being too large for what I needed. I also appreciated the long power cord.

For a small fee over a standard power bar, this unit is equiped with modest surge protection. Space is provided for one wall wort and having the coax in/out is a nice feature too. As far as I can tell the LEDs are shiny but don’t add any real value, nor does the cheapo coaxial cable.

I found it very difficult to mount securely with the “eye holes” provided on the back. It is forever coming loose from the wall and is a real pain to slide back into position. A small detail, but it really doesn’t help to clean up the install if the power cords are dangling about.

Overall a modest bit of protection for a pretty fair price. I didn’t need anything extravagent and this works well enough.

I really liked the generous outlet capacity of this unit along with the ethernet protection and as a whole surge protector. The unit allowed me to plug in lots of different size plug ins from the simple 3-prong to the big blocky plug in, you have to be creative and shift them all around to make it work for everything you need.

I don’t know about the cord wrap feature, I had problems trying to make it work to put the extra electrical cord left over from the generous 10ft length to not only be functional but nice looking. Having the cord wrap on the opposite end does not work for me and I suspect the cord wrap is only for storage of the unit when not placed into operation? I just used a velcro cord wrap to control the excess electrical cord.

Like most people I like my electronic toys! It’s not unusual to spend a lot of my hard-earned money on them! So it only makes to want to protect them. that is why I have been using Belkin Products for as long as I can remember.

I can honestly say that Belkin has never let me down in any way! I am now using my new 6 outlet Surge Protector on my new 70″ TV and all of its accessories. I particularly like the Rotating Plug feature.

I am a big fan of Belkin products, so when I needed a new surge protector, I was happy to see that Belkin offered a product to fit my needs. I love the rotating plug. It makes it so handy to be able to use it anywhere, without having to worry if you can squeeze the plug into small nooks and crannies.

It’s such a simple but useful feature that I never knew I needed, but probably wouldn’t want to live without. The cord is about 6 feet long, so not terribly long. However, it does offer 6 outlets and it’s a surge protector, so it’s perfect for expensive electronics.

Overall, it’s a high quality item that makes life just a little easier. If you need a surge protector, Belkin is a strong choice.

My house has had a proliferation of electrical items to the point it’s gotten almost schizophrenic. We have surge protectors and UPS everywhere, in addition to our backup generators. So why do I like this so much? Well, I have quite a few strips, quite a few surge protectors that are very heavy and don’t play well with chords.

The pieces are too close together and you end up wasting plugs. I can name several consumer products you may have and since they aren’t competitors I think I’m allowed to. So I have Hue lights, Raspberry Pi power supplies, an entire sound system including amp, and a few wide chargers that I was able to plug into this all at the same time.

Yes, it’s a little wide compared to strips but that is a tiny price to pay, actually an inconsequential one, compared to the fact you don’t end up wasting any of the plugs. It’s light, it’s convenient, it doesn’t attract much attention, it looks good almost anywhere and it’s so easy to setup and use.

I’ve been through so many of these things that it’s become a chore just keeping up with the surge protectors and UPS, having something this easy to use and that’s this convenient was welcome relief from the chord clutter in the house.

And on top of it, you have enough space, you can easily add several different type of organizing tools so you know what chord goes to what. Also, if you do end up using bigger plugs than any I’ve tried, it does rotate so you’d really need some big power supplies before you’d have a problem.

If you don’t have a surge protector, you may think you don’t need them, until the one day you learn the hard way. Then you’ll realize you could have saved quite a bit without spending much. Do yourself a favor, if you have some even remotely valuable items that aren’t protected, buy one (this is as good as any and for the money it’s excellent, I’ve purchased probably 25 or so in the past few years so I’m comfortable opining on it).

If you have ones that don’t meet your needs or aren’t easy to use, do the same. Over the years my computer became more of a community of electronic gadgets. Multiple monitors with their associated “wall warts,” several bookshelf hard drives, a printer, a modem, speakers, and a monitor lamp.

They all require power and some are not too nice about it. For example, the wall warts take up more than one plug space. This power block solved most of the the problems associated with this situation.

As far as your regular surge protectors goe, they are a bane of my existence. No one electronics manufacturer makes a power adapter that is similar in size or shape to another. And, when you have them connected together, they inevitably occupy more than one socket area due to their shapes and sizes.

I’ve daisy-chained surge protectors due to this problem. Thanks to this rotating surge protector I can tidy up the wires underneath my computer desk. The biggest thing about any surge protector is its ability to protect your equipment from an electrical surge.

I prefer to not ever test it to its capacity, but on paper this Monoprice unit can withstand 4320 joules***. ***I was not sure if a lack of proper equipment protection warranty would be worth taking one star away from this product.

However, other surge protector manufacturers do offer it, so please be aware. Since my device came in a clear plastic bag without a box or any supplemental user manuals or guides, I am not 100% sure if Monoprice offers such a warranty.

Overall however, I am very pleased with the on-paper ratings on this device, as well as its design and capacity. Lastly, a 10 ft power cord is a great feature which makes a buying decision that much easier.

It’s pretty good. Pros – nice long, flexible cord flat plug that lays next to the wall Sturdily built Cons – It’s set up as a straight line of receptacles, as though you were going to plug in a bunch of small plugs (like the simple two-prong light plugs).

HOWEVER, if this is specifically for your tv and peripherals, most of the plugs will be at least a 2×4″ rectangle (a Roku plug). I’m not even using an external soundsystem; I’ve just got the tv, Roku, Chromecast, the internet router and modem.

Because all of those are large blocky plugs, I’m still having to plug my tv into the wall, so this is acting as a surge protector only, not also a space saver. For something that is specifically for TV and the things you plug into it, this style isn’t going to work for most people.

Based on my decades of experience in electronic repairs, this is an excellent choice. It has better features and considerably better specifications for serious protection for any of your prized and expensive electronic gear.

Clearly the best choice for you and nothing comes close in this price range.

I have a new 4K TV and expect to soon acquire a compatible 4K disk player. I wanted to protect those investments without going overboard. This surge protector seems to have all I need for a reasonable price.

I love the layout. those long plugs that take 3 or four outlets in a normal outlet strip, can now be put in sideways. I did not look hard at the picture, the phone lines are not usb inputs, no big deal, just saying I did not look at the picture closely when buying.

I got this on sale from Newegg. Several of the outlets on the surge protector itself are dead and provide no power. Did not realize this until after Newegg return policy since I was not using all the plugs.

Contacted CyberPower support and have not received a response from them after 17 days. Would not recommend purchasing this or at the very least check all the plugs when you first receive the item to make sure it’s not DOA.

I love how many outlets it has – HOWEVER, they are so close together and oddly spaced, that you can really only use about 8. When you get the cell phone charges in there, they really mess up how may fit! Otherwise, it seems to be working as it should.

But I bought it for the amount of outlets, so I’m disappointed.

Today, this product failed me big time. Apparently, the storms just went straight through this killing my PS5 and Denon receiver. When I trying to figure out why my PS5 would not turn on, I noticed this surge protector still indicating grounded and protected.

It was not until later tonight when I decide to watch TV that I noticed my $800 Denon receiver was also not working. Luckily the TV needs to be plugged in elsewhere. I thought this was a surge protector not just an extension cord.

This “surge protector” I bought just 2. 5 years ago now cost me so much money and time. How do I even get another PS5 when they are sold out everywhere. Do not buy Insignia as a one year warranty and no liability coverage is not worth it.

I mounted this on the rear of a coffee table that sits between our recliners. It faces the rear wall so not visible from front. Makes it much easier to plug in laptops, phone chargers, etc. , without climbing under the furniture to find a free plug.

The two recliners are electric as well so they can plug into this centrally located power strip. The spread-out design of the outlets makes transformers easy to plug in without wasting neighboring outlets.

Two small wood screws into rear of coffee table and outlet slides on. Not a real solid mounting but if you get the screws installed at correct depth it works fine. Took some trial and error in screw tightening.

It would be better to have a removable rear panel that you screw on first then the power strip would then slide onto the panel.

It’s a cheap power strip. You’re buying a cheap power strip. You’re getting a cheap power strip. You don’t get stress relief. You don’t get a flat plug that fits in a tight space easily. It’s not going to accommodate wall warts basically at all.

So you have to plan where you’re going to have something coming a few inches at a right angle out of the wall. Who knows if the breaker in it actually works. It’s definitely not a surge suppressor. Just don’t plug more than 1500w total into it and you’ll be fine.

It’s literally just a cheap power strip. But, if you’re not the kind of genius who is going to plug a space heater and a thousand watt gaming system with three monitors into it then mash a desk into the plug to get a flush look out of everything, it’s fine.

I bought this for my computer a while ago and before I was plugging my computer directly into the wall, which you should not do. I am glad I bought this bacause after having moved a few times I have lost plenty of electronics to bad sockets except for the ones that I have plugged into this surge protector.

I definitely trust Cyberpower with my valuable electronics. I plug my computer into the main socket and my monitors and other peripherals into the sockets, so when my computer goes to sleep, electronics I am not using power off as well.

With the amount that I use my computer, the amount of energy I save by doing this is greatly appreciated. It is very durable and can also be mounted on a wall for easier cable management. It also includes cord labels to further assist cable organization.

For the price and quality, I would definitely reccommend this to a friend and buy it again!.

The reviews that say that it doesn’t keep the power switched on to the slave outlets when the master is hooked up to an LCD/LED TV are correct. I originally had this configured to power on an amplifier (on a slave outlet) when the TV turned on, but the initial power on of the TV would power the amp on then, it would drop enough that the power would turn off on the amp, then once the signal was processed on the TV it would kick it back on again.

I didn’t want the amp power thrashing like that. I ended up moving the master power to drive off my receiver. I was a bit concerned that I would get amp thump, but that isn’t the case, so powering off the receiver works just fine for me.

What I really needed was a power sequencer, but I wasn’t willing to drop that kind of coin. This serves its purpose. Just know that a device that has low draw or wildly fluctuating draw may cause the slave outlets to turn off from time to time.

I love the power saving feature of this surge protector. It leaves the little “standby” light on all the time on my TV, which is plugged into the “master” outlet. This is the only vampire power that I am wasting now.

All of my gaming systems and other connected components only turn on when the TV is on, so I am saving a lot of power. It also has an on/off switch if you want to completely cut power to everything, and it has nice indicator lights to show you if the outlet is grounded and if your devices are being protected.

My one complaint is that the configuration of the outlets makes it hard to use all of the outlets available. I also might be willing to sacrifice some of the “always on” outlets for more power-saving outlets.

That being said, I doubt that any surge protector can anticipate and satisfy the needs of every user. I have never had one that perfectly fits my needs. There are too many oddly shaped plugs that take up too much room on a surge protector.

The amount of protection is higher than most of the plug-in wall units I’d found and came highly rated from general reviews that drew me to do additional research. I’ve used the surge protector to plug my TV and Qwest internet box lines into the unit. I’ve had no problems with the surge protector. I like how the plug-in outlets pivot. I don’t like how the surge protector has to be directly plugged into the wall.

I’ve lived in two apartments in the last 3 years and both contain two prong outlets. I had to put 2 – 3 prong converters on the outlets. Adding the surge protector on to a converter makes the surge protector stick out quite a bit from the wall and required a piece of form to be placed under the protector to stabilize it.

Unsure if surge protector is grounded “officially” because of the 2 – 3 prong converter attached. The surge protector is made for newer homes that contain 3 prong outlets.

Got this Panamax MR4000 for the Black Friday sale at Best Buy. I am currently using it in my living room, but it’s already paid itself off. There are two indicator lights which let you know if there are any wiring issues with the wall outlet you are using.

To my surprise after unboxing and plugging in the unit, one of the red wiring fault indicators turned on and the unit itself would not power on. Upon further inspection, the wall outlet was wired incorrectly by the apartment maintenance team where the Hot and Neutral wires were wired incorrectly! I like the addition of the outlet on the front of the unit, it lets me plug in anything on a moments notice, such as a laptop power brick or phone charger, or if a friend brings a game console over.

I did deduct one start due to my single dislike with the unit: the power button on the far left hand side feels a bit mushy and is flush with front of the unit, you have to press it in a substantial amount before the switch engages and turns the unit on/off.

I do like the ability to also turn off the blue accent lights. While not very bright to begin with, they may be distracting during movie watching when the lights are off. As for the performance of the unit: I have my LG OLED 55E8 hooked up, along with a Roku, Nintendo Switch, HRPC, and a network switch.

Before having this unit powering on my oled tv would cause my living room lamp to momentarily dim, this has since corrected that. We also had one short brownout and subsequent power outage when we had a snowstorm recently.

The unit worked as expected and shutdown during the brownout to protect my electronics! Overall, I am generally satisfied with the Panamax MR4000 and would recommend it over a generic power strip which offers far less protection!.

The panamax mr4000 is a fantastic power conditioner, before purchasing this I was having static constantly coming though my speakers while I was using a cheaper surge protector. The 8 foot power cord is just long enough to reach my outlet which is great for hiding my cables.

What sealed the deal for me was the AVM circuit that is constantly checking the voltage to make sure it does not drop to low or increase to much, if that happens the circuit will shut off power to all my gear saving them from permanent damage.

You can never go wrong with panamax they always have high quality gear.

I’ve been happy with the Panamax. It has lots of spaces to plug my stereo, tv, and other electronics into. It also provides peace of mind knowing that it’s also cleaning the power to those devices. But, the feature that has been most handy for me is the plug in the front.

I’ve used it several times. Kudos to Panamax for including that! There are lots of cheaper options out there, but (hopefully) you get what you pay for.

This is great for my home office. It has computers, printer, table lamp, external camera , my phone charger, lights etc etc. it’s awesome that it has 8 outlets in which can go all my precious work and computer related plugs.

The 12 ft cord helps me keep my items further away from one another. Totally recommend it.

I had been searching for a good surge protector with ample outlets and a long cord so I was excited to give this one a try. Quality made and can handle my small home office electronics with ease. My experience with Belkin has always been great so I’m not surprised how well this has been working for me.

Educated friends told me Panamax is a good brand. I’m using to keep my TV antenna pre-amp from getting zapped by lightning. A local strike (250 yds away) killed my preamp (antenna and preamp are in my attic) with no localized surge protector from power or coax–just a whole-house surge protector.

I assume the electrical wire or the antenna itself was burned out as if the lightning were an EMP. Hoping this product prevents that from happening again.

Only need two outlets. Located on opposite sides as not to crowd cords. Can be installed to leave one open household outlet. Our neighborhood looses power in bad weather so peace of mind. Bought with new Sony bravia 800 series television.

This is a great product. It has 2 different types of charging ports. Flat head to plug into wall saves space. Spacing too of outlets can handle small to big block charging. Wall mountable is also a great feature.

With lots of power strip options to choose from, it was great to find exactly what I needed to fit the required space. The low profile plug was critical to fit behind a piece of furniture, and the space of the outlets allows all of the relevant power supplies to be plugged in simultaneously, including a few fat “wall warts”.

Overall I like this surge protector, but there is one small problem. The 6 outlets that are close together are a little too close together. I’ve had problems with certain plugs being unable to fit side-by-side in those sockets.

So ended up needing another surge protector for the couple of extra items I needed to plug in.
