BEST HAIR PASTE EVER. Full disclosure, I am in fact a woman, but this is 100x better than any other drugstore hair product marketed for women. I’d also like to add that it’s MUCH cheaper for more product than the same stuff in a pink container.
It does have a fairly strong cologne smell at first, but once it’s in your hair you can’t really notice it. I have a pixie cut and I like everything to be in its place and styled without the stiff look of a hairspray, and I like to be able to run my fingers through it without becoming covered in product.
This paste does exactly that, and it gives a nice amount of sheen to my hair without being too shiny or greasy looking. You really only need a small bit so it lasts a long time, although for a longish pixie cut you’ll need about double what the instructions say.
It does feel quite thick in your hands and it takes some practice to get the application and amount right, but once it dries it’s very soft and unnoticeable. If you are a woman using this and you’re going for a softer look, I will caution you against using too much in one area because it can look a little stringy, but it’s pretty easy to comb through and fix.
I use just a little at a time, adding more until I’m happy. If you’re going to be out in the wind and you don’t want your hair messed up you’ll still have to use hairspray, but this is great for after styling hold and shaping.

I use it on dry to semi-dry hair. I run my fingers through the top of my head, then palm it along the sides to flatten the sides giving a more tapered look. It works like a charm and holds up pretty well in strong winds.
After a good wind throws my hair around, I just use a brush or my fingers to get the look back. The downside is this product leaves a white sticky residue on your hands that you must wash off after application.

Hey Axe, I never write reviews but since I’ve been a customer since who knows when I figured I would send you some feedback. I ordered a couple of new tins of the Flexible Paste and one of them had the new label and the other had the new label.
I used the original labeled tin and it was the same paste that I had grown to love. Then when I opened the newly labeled tin I realized that you guys had changed the formula. It’s not like a really, really thick lotion as opposed to a styling paste.
This was a terrible decision, not sure why there was a change but I am sad to report that I am no longer an Axe customer and currently on the hunt for a replacement. Good luck out there!.
I just wanted to voice my dissatisfaction with one of your hair care products, which is the Messy Look Flexible Paste. I have pretty short thin hair, and this is literally the only product I have found (discounting spending $30 on a 0.
0005 oz can of something overpriced) that does exactly what I need it to, since it’s nice and thick and I only need a tiny amount to get the job done. I’ve been using this product religiously for over 5yrs, and last time I bought it, it had the new tin can packaging.
Not only is it far less product for the same cost (I can get over that), but most importantly it seems as though the recipe has changed. It’s much runnier than it used to be, and to be honest it just does a terrible job on my already terrible hair.
I would really like to see at least the former version of this paste brought back into production, even if it is in the same tin can, and I would continue using it.
