20 Best Storm Door Closer For High Wind (2023 Updated)

I bought the closer set in an attempt to repair a wind- blown, sprung door. I was also trying to save my customer some dough. The door was fine. I repaired the broken jamb and installed the new closers.

Mission accomplished and saved my customer a decent amount.

I was sent the wrong color!! I have tried to call several times as well as email, no response! I had to send back the WRONG product that was sent, wait for them to credit my acct for over $40 & then REORDER white again & hope I get the right color this time!!! Very disappointing!!.

This is really a shabby device. It doesn’t hold open and keep sliding closed. Waste of my money. Buy a different one!

Good price and seemingly good product, but I have replaced it before, and that was not more than 2 or 3 years ago. Durability questionable.

My wife was frustrated with the old Door Closer as it slammed the door shut. One Trip to Aubuchon’s and the National Hardware Pneumatic Door Closer replaced the disfunctional closer with an easy to install new door closer which works perfectly.

It works just wonderful. The heavy-duty right door closer for screen doors wonderful. Especially if your door is heavy like mine. This one works like a dream. No more the door will hit me in the the rear section any longer.

Bought as a replacement. Tried to use existing hardwar, but it didn’t fit. So. I removed the old Arm and bracket and used the parts that came with this. Works well. Still slams a bit, but old iron security door is pretty heavy.

It was the complete closer assembly, no parts were missing. The ad said it was missing parts!

Worked much better than the one that came with the door. Really closes slow and finishes with a tug to shut it all the way.

This is definitely made for a very light storm door. The description said light to medium weight.

i looked in every store for a short door closer, none to be found! however found this, its cheaper than store price

I bought the heavy-duty door closer because our front glass door is very heavy and the wind here is swift and strong! We also needed a door closer that would close the door quickly and securely. This Wrights product was everything we needed.

The price is also very good for the quality received. Great buy!.

This was a replacement closer. My door no longer closes completely with this one. I have to pull or push the storm door shut each time that it is opened. The hold-open feature does work as intended though.

Not sure whats wrong but it works now and then, door shock works great if door is opened all the way, not good if door opened slightly.

I received what I ordered and I am satisfied with it. The reason for the good rating rather than great is because I needed just the pump not all the related parts. I would prefer just being able to order the pump alone.

It is functional but slightly different from the online photo such that it doesn’t work for my door. Just be sure to check very closely and not assume every part will work. I have asked to return the item and will hopefully get the exact fit next.

Storm door kit was easy to install although the closer kit did not have instructions, just pictures. I looked at my other Anderson storm door in order to figure out how this went on. It would have been nice to have actual directions.

Great quality storm door closer. Does not come with instructions, but easy install and a 1 to 1 replacement for another closer that had turned into a door slammer. Recommended.

ours broke so I ordered this from ebay. The old one must have stopped working for a long time before it finally broke. Now the door closes by itself and it had not done that in a long time. Always had to pull it closed manually.

I received everything that I needed to replace my storm door closer. All that needed replacing was the closer itself. All was of high quality materials. Storm door works great now!

Extra heavy duty closer does the job that others try to do. I have one of those storm doors thats wood encased in aluminum so it’s on the heavy side. Could never get the adjustment on the stock closer right ether it would hold the door from latching or slam shut.

In the winter only one adjustment slam shut no matter what you did with the screw. And it never came with a safety chain wind caught the door in the winter one time almost ripped the screws for the closer out of the wood.

The new closer has more power for heavier doors the piston is much larger and with the adjustment you can fine tune it to get it where you want it, now just have to wait for the winter to see if it can’t handle the cold.

A safety chain comes with it and thats a nice bonus. Get it if you need one you won’t be sorry.

Update 9/10/16: Door closer (cylinder) working just fine. The door closer itself seems to be fine. It is in its early stages of use, and I’m pushing the boundaries by installing it on a security door.

I may see some problems because it’s not meant for that heavy a door. That’s on me. Science experiment! Disappointed that the chain and spring are silver metal. Looks cheap, although functional. I wish there were in-between choices for Yes and No to the questions above, because of the chain and spring.

I recommend it because it’s functional. Just caveat emptor on the chain and spring.

My baby isn’t American made. So don’t expect a screws head to say on!! Seriously though. This thing works okay. Quality is acceptable. It should last for a while. Nice complete package. Does my door really good.

Now my door closes and locks automatically and the right people hate it. Hah, hah hah. hah! I like. I love! Hmmm! What else can I do to.

Get the 150 heavy duty I bought 2 and well pleased so far. The 820 didnt close properly so didnt like so well . Stick to the 150 HD

This is a perfect replacement for our defective closer. It looks identical to the one we had for 30 years and comes with replacement screws which fit the original holes of the old one.

1st it is very short I had to move everything in closer than it was which also included moving part of it down the door that and it has a problem of slamming at the end of closing

My old closer stopped working in cold temperatures: the door would slam shut. I assume the mechanism limiting he speed of air escape from the cylinder was getting stuck open because of the cold. The new one solved the problem nicely, once again my storm door doesn’t slam shut with a vengeance.

The new one is almost identical to the old one, so installation was only a couple of minutes.

This is pretty much the only game in town if you need a replacement cylinder for your door but the instructions on the package are more baffling than helpful. Instead of a step by step method they jump around and are quite confusing.

I also cannot see how this cylinder can possibly be attached to the forwardmost hole as suggested using the door bracket provided as the cylinder tube interferes with doing that. No mention of how the pressure adjusting screw works either.

Needs a rethink.

Good product a little adjustment need only flaw is that the door does not open as wide, preferred our other closer. Our other closer worked well but the quality was so poor that it did not last one season.

I had purchased regular door closer. While see the install video; realized that there is a tap-n-go door closer and did not think twice. Returned regular one; paid 10 dollars extra but got; tap-n-go door closer.

This is fantastic as do not have to bend and manually lock the door anymore while getting stuff inside home. Just do it with feet !.

The only reason I checked Dislike on Construction and Ease of Use is because the one I had prior the this one, the button you tapped was on top of the bar instead of the side. It was much easier to tap even with bare feet.

This one is hard to do with bare feet because it causes you to use the tips of your toes to tap the button. Other than that it is great.

Easy to install. It works great on storm door. No more required to hold the door to load grocery. Preset closing setting is excellent and perfect. It closes the door tight and holds it closed. Just press or tap the button with the foot to hold the door position.

To unlock door position, you need to open the door all the way.

Installed easily and works great!
