20 Best Steel Toe Boots For Wide Feet (2023 Updated)

In the last 2 years I’ve had 4 pairs of these boots. 2 pair I purchased using my company’s work shoe allowance, and 2 pair I’ve purchased with my own money. I’ve work at my company for over 32 years.

Prior to finding and purchasing my first pair of the Georgia Giant G6374, I was a Doc Marten Boot fan. The ‘break in’ time on the Doc Marten’s was substantial but once you broke them in, they lasted a long time.

On average, about two years of good use in an industrial environment. In comparison, now that I’m at the end of my 4th pair of these Georgia Giants, I’ve only gotten about 6 months before I’m walking around in them with a hole in the sole.

This is really unacceptable for an industrial steel toed work boot. The only reason I’ve continued to purchase them and given them a 3-star rating and not a worse rating is because they are sooooooooo comfortable right out of the box.

Man, they fit and walk like I’ve got New Balance walking shoes on or something. Very, very comfortable immediately upon first wear. I just wish the sole would last longer!.

Very high quality and high value. Better as a work boot than a hiking boot because the edge of the sole sticks out a bit. Review after 1 month and worn several times in snow. These are not stated to be waterproof, but I suspect with waterproofing applications they should be water resistant.

Of note, these are not insulated and do not have an inner layer of padding inside the leather upper. Mine fit true to size with enough room for thick hunting socks. One minor issue, the tongue of under the laces should be about 1/2 inch longer.

It is just long enough to stay under the laces, but in hard use I could see the tongue slipping down exposing shin to laces.

I have been impressed with these since the moment I first tried them on. I was worried that ordering online might be a hassle and that the fit could be off. Mine were true to size and I really appreciate that the toe box is roomy and the width correct.

I don’t have any pressure points or hot spots when lacing up or wearing them. I will say that the second hook grommets are much farther back than any boot I’ve had before and I find myself skipping them.

Even so, they are secure and comfortable and the I haven’t even really needed a break in period because the leather has been supple enough from the start. I have several weeks wearing them and I am impressed with how comfortable they are even at the end of a long day on my feet.

I can’t see buying anything else in a few years when I eventually wear these out.

I got my first pair Sept. 2010 while working in foundry. (XPX761). They are very very comfortable while on my feet for 12 hr days up to 60 & 70 hr’s a week. They withstood standing and walking in hot sand from large engine molds.

The metatarsals kept my feet from injury from heavy chunks of cores and protected sand and hot sand from falling on my shoe laces and burning me,or getting sand in my work boot. I’ve retired from the foundry and been wearing them for the last 5 years while driving a truck.

I use them every since 2010 to mow my yard and terraces the tread pattern design and depth allow great stability from slipping on my terraces while mowing. I also enjoy going for walks in them just before work and sometimes after work one mile or two, my feet feel great even at 250 pounds.

Believe me i’m 63 tears old and had all kinds of work boots with and without metatarsals these are all around safe and comfortable work boot. I’m getting to order my 4th pair. Even though the boot laces don’t last very long.

I don’t mind buying leather replacement boot laces. And i still give an overall rating of 5 stars.

2nd pair of these and would buy another. Feel secure in step/footing and comfort, even after a year of 11 hour days, sometimes 6 days a week and all on concrete floors. Very tough boot, with “hiking boot” looks (which I like).

*Ariats run large so best to buy the 1/2 size smaller. Shipping was pretty quick and Ariat does a great job with status updates. Boots fit great right out of the box and put them to work the first day.

I purchased the waterproof boots for doing yard/farm work and always walking in wet grass. They have good tread and have kept my feet dry so far. I also have been dealing with planter fasciitis prior to these boots and can tell you that they are very comfortable to work in for long hours especially once broke in.

Lastly the break in period for me was quite quick with very light temporary foot soreness and the lower portion of the boot is snug at first but with use does stretch out some and seems to form to your foot well.

Nobody likes to buy junk, especially me. as of right now I would definitely buy these boots again! The only knock I have against them is that the color I chose was supposed to be more of a tan and It’s more of a dark brown.

So I bought this pair of boots about two weeks ago (was super excited to actually own a pair of Ariats). In that two weeks, I’ve had to bend and contort different areas of the boot to break it in (was tight around the foot, and the pull up section had cut the back of my heel).

I thought I had finally gotten it all sorted, but here I am about to return these boots as the steel toe in my right boot only is digging into the top of my toes causing pain when walking and my foot to fall asleep when sitting.

Left boot is fine, so I don’t quite understand what’s going on. Fit is fine with no flop. The only other thing I’ll say is, these boots scuff VERY easily. Most of my job is sitting in front of a computer, but having boots is awesome for when I have to go out in the field.

In my very very limited time in the field in these two weeks, in my right boot I have a nice little hunk in the area of my big toe coming off along with another small scuff on both boots. Would think as work boots these would hold up a bit better especially for people that actually need work boots all day every day.

Honestly after reading multiple reviews before purchase and seeing all the good things said about these boots I ended up being quite disappointed in the end. Purchased in February 2022 and now being June 2022 only 4 months both toes already showing steel, the right boot started showing at the 2 month mark.

Also these boots have a very rough break in worse then any boot I’ve ever owned. Now the reason I am bumping it to a 2 star instead of a 1 is because after the break in the boot was fairly comfortable.

Being a steal fitter I’m on my feet for around 8-10 hours a day and once the break in period was over I never really had any problems with uncomfortability. Just wish the toes could have stood a better chance.

Would have put this boot at a higher rating.

Ive has these for a week now. I work in a kennel and deal with a lot of water to clean them as well as concrete and tile. I love that i dont slip in these boots on wet tile like other similar boots. They are flexable with is amazing because ive had boots split where they bend when squating.

My feet also didnt hurt nearly as much as they normally would in a pair of new boots worn all day long. They were a little tight at first but the leather loosened up quickly and they are very comfortable.

I also love that the sole is sewn on, with extra on the toes to ensure it wont come off, ots also a thick sole so i dont have to worry about them wearing out fast. My only complaint is that they are meant to be water proof but my feet are still getting wet.

Im going to try sealing them with an oil and hopefully that will fix it. Id suggest getting the next size up with boots (you wear size 8 1/2, id get 9). I gave 4 stars because the water is a major thing in my job and it is extremely unpleasant to work 8 hrs or more with wet feet, but otherwise the boots are amazing.

This is my second pair and the first pair have held up really well. The only reason they dont get a 5 star is because around the 8-9 hour mark on concrete floors my feet tend to get sore. I have had other boots that last between 10 and 12 hours before my feet get sore.

Over all a good boot. If I’m sitting at a desk or operating heavy equipment off and on during the day my feet are great in these boots. They could use a better cushioning system. I have talked with younger guys that dont have this issue, but they are in their twenty’s.

I could wear concrete shoes in my twenty’s without complaint.

I work at a restaurant, I need a durable, comfortable, slip resistant, steel toe boot because I’m on my feet anywhere from 5 to 8. 5 hours a day/night. I wore these boots for only one night of work to discover how unsatisfactory they were.

I’ll start this review with the key features listed on the site. Steel Toe: Not tested, but it was there and that made my toes feel safe. Electrical Hazard: N/A, I clean floors and wash dishes. Traction Control Rubber Outsole: Non-existent, the smallest patches of water on the floor had me sliding across it like an ice skating rink.

Using a floor squeegee was fun, pushing it forward only made me slide backward. Memory Foam: Leave it in the pillows or on the beds you sleep in. After about 3 hours on my feet, it went from comfortable to rather annoying.

I could work through the pain easily, but the fact that I was able to feel what was underneath the memory foam was disconcerting. Relaxed Fit: The sizing was true, and width felt nice, the only real pro to this product.

I’m a welder and had a contract on a large construction site. Walking 5 miles a day, they were still comfortable considering the walk. The steel toe did cover up to my pinkie (shortest toe). It stopped short before then.

Additionally, the top of the boot dug into the side of my calf. Felt like they either need to be made longer or shorter. I’m 5’7″ and it digs in uncomfortably. The relaxed fit took some getting used to because they didn’t seem supportive in the ankle area.

Might return these really.

This is about the 5th pair of these boots I have bought. They fit my wide feet with no problems, straight out of the box comfortable. The boots stay waterproof for at least a year of constant use outdoors.

I do spray them with silicon spray about every 4 months to help. Great boots, please do not change them or discontinue them!.

Purchased these in December 2018 for the upcoming Landscape season (2019) to replace my 8 year old Carolina steel toed boots. First time I wore them on dewy grass, they got soaked, even not broke in the were comfy, but got wet.

So I went back to my old Carolinas, I treated the boot with a waterproofing spray hoping this would help, and got soaked again, so I then tried moojuice oil, still got wet and finally used redwing oil which I have used on my Carolinas and any other leather boots I have owned and that helped a little but in the end still got wet and all from morning dew.

Not sure if they were defective but no way are they waterproof and I’ve lived in steel toed boots for almost 30 years. It’s maybe a $90-$100 boot but no way $150+ you can purchase other brands for $120-$180 that are actually waterproof, danner,Carolina, timberland, redwing, irish setter, thorogood, ect ect.

I sent an email but they only warranty for 6 months, and since I bought them in December, by the time I started wearing them warranty was shot so beware of this. I personally own 6 different Rocky boots n hikers, the waterproof ones are good except this pair.

I’m a big Rocky Apparel guy too as is my GF and own guessing $4-$5k in clothing and love it, but a little dissapointment with these and Rocky’s reply to this particular pair of boots.

The steel toe would rub the tops of my toes very little padding and it’s not leather it’s pleather couldn’t wear them very uncomfortable

So far so good. Very pleased with this purchase. Husband goes thru work shoes like crazy & hopefully these will last. Beautiful boot, sturdy & came in wide & he was beyond happy about that. We shall see for how long.

These are the most comfortable steel toe work boots I’ve ever owned and they hold up very well didn’t fall apart or anything and they are half the price of higher end boots just bought my 3rd pair I can’t see buying any other work boot I hope they never discontinue this one.

Knew which shoes I wanted to purchase, style. color. and size. Delivery was free, and I didn’t need it to be Amazon-quick. that’s ridiculous. Overall, very happy with the new shoes purchase. Was able to get shoes that were not at any of the following: Dick’s Sporting Goods, Working Gear, Kohl’s, Target, Men’s Warehouse, and a couple other places.

I should have let my fingers do the walking and found the Shoebacca option sooner, woulda saved time and effort. I replaced both Lugz simultaneously. The lugz Drifter Lo LX dark tan pair I previously had lasted me 8 years.

The golden wheat pair lasted me even more. The dark tan will last a bit longer and will take a tinted cream conditioner, but the golden wheat will take only a waterproofed. If you take care of them, these will last.

The heal will eventually break down and the shoe will lose its rigidity, but considering this price point, it will owe you nothing at that point.

Bought these for my wife cause lugz are the only boots that I wear and she wanted a pair. They are very comfortable and come with the memory foam inside for that extra comfort. We both love this color of the boot and its like a sweade type finish.

These are her first pair of lugz and she’s very happy with them and will be for a long time. My past experience with lugz these boots last forever. They’ve lasted longer than any other brand of shoe/boot that either her or I have worn.

Acc they aren’t that expensive either compared to how long they last. For around $70 for a pair that’s cheap when they last for years And years. Would definitely recommend these to any woman and reccomend lugz period to anyone looking for a comfortable boot that’ll last year’s.

I was looking for boots for work, but I have 2 issues. Arthritis and a Hammer Toe. I decided to give these a try. Not only is the fit good, but the toe room was more than enough for the problem with the hammer toe.

On other boots my toe would rub bad on the inside of the boot. I did remove the insert and put a different insert in, then put the original back in on top of that. Worked great. Had all day comfort at work.

I would definitely buy these again!!!.

Comfortable shoes for work. However, the soles of the shoes wore out quicker than any other pair of work shoes I’ve worn. For 130$, I thought I would at least have gotten a year out of them. The top shoe lace thing also ripped out after 2 months on each foot.

Either I’m the my Mr. Olympus or they need to get back in the lab with these.

My second pair of KEENs, very well constructed and comfortable from day 1!! I’m very hard on foot gear and KEENs stand up very well. I usually replace boots every year but now I have 2 pair, the old ones just still servicable.

You’ll be happy with these!.

I bought these for my husband because he blows through shoes so fast and has too big of a shoe size to shop in store. So far they have lasted through rain, snow, and miles and miles of walking without hurting his feet, so i call that a win! They were a little long for him but not so much his feet are sliding around.

Would recommend oiling the boots first thing as they are a bit brittle out of the box. I will definitely buy these again when he eventually puts holes in these too!.

The boot is well constructed, nice appearance, however, after a days’ wearing, I had blisters on my heels and the outside bottom of my ankle bones, both sides, were rubbed raw. I’m a lineman for a utility company and I was hoping to wear these when I was doing installations & would not need the high-top safety boots I normally wear when climbing poles.

I cannot return as I wore them and the money spent, $100 + went out the door.

These seem to be well made and look great but, similar to other Carolina steel toe boots I have purchased in the past, they run decidedly narrow compared to what they are labeled. I had to send these back.

I have a pair of Wellington boots from Carolina with a composite toe that I can tolerate for short periods since they are by design a looser style of boot but even those I don’t want to wear for very long.

I wear an 11 1/2 wide and ordered that size but it didn’t fit comfortably. It was disappointing to send them back because they are otherwise a great value for the price.

In my personal experience with this style, I did not like all the “extra cloth†all throughout the inside (lining of the shoe), which is the waterproofing of the shoe. Those should really be in the details, I didn’t notice it, or even a picture.

Made it feel much tighter, like my foot was being squeezed in the shoe. That also seemed to make my feet warm up pretty quick. The leather came up higher on the tongue of the shoe (another waterproofing design) and that hit right at my ankles, causing pain Just for the try on, I never wore them just tried them on and they weren’t comfortable for me.

I immediately contacted customer service for an exchange for a pair, I had purchased in the past that were not waterproof and I am happy with everything! They helped me with the exchange and getting me a boot that fit and felt better.

Great boot so far, it is a tad big length wise. I could have possibly gone down a half size but it’s not so much that I wanted to send them back. They were pretty painful to break in. But have softened up considerably with towering them.

My feet hurt so bad the first few days I was ready to send them back. But they awarded getting better. Wear wise they seem to be well built, and the water proofing works well. Hopefully they last longer then my red wings.

I very much like they are a usa made boot. Time will tell how they hold up. I practically live in boots so they will get used hard everyday.

Very nice high quality boot as always from Thorogood. The only drawback was the tongue came with way too much material and it bunched up when the laces were tightened. Unfortunately, this was very uncomfortable.

I ended up cutting away some of each side of the tongue and now it’s much better. Again, very high quality construction and I’ve always loved Thorogood boots. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase!!.

I’ve purchased a similar workbook for several years in a row. Noted that the similar style was now renumbered, but style so close that maybe the number had just changed. I had no problem, even with break-in, with the old boots.

Got these boots, and tried them on. The size was good, but the left boot had stitching on the tongue, that pressed on my foot right where the upper foot joins the ankle curve. The other boot tongue caused no conflict, so I figured that the left stitching would stretch some and then feel like the right boot tongue.

It initially pressed hard at that point and I had to insert some rubber cushioning between ankle and skin. I’ve had them for a few weeks now, and there does seem to be less pressure, so I suspect that the left will become like the right.

I have noticed that the boots, both, have a tendency to pull down my socks into the boot. I wear a light sock, not a heavier work sock. Not too handy to have to stop and pull my socks back up, but hope that, too, will go away.

One thing I’ve noticed on past boots is that the tops of the boot do wear well, and I usually wear them until the heels wear into the lower shoe. However, the shoes have stayed water-proof pretty much up to the end of soles and heels.

I finally wore out my blue collar lace-up hikers that had been my trusted boots for work and travel (they served me well all over Scotland, Iceland, Nova Scotia, and Alaska in addition to grueling terrain conditions in south Georgia) and needed a fast and affordable replacement.

I must say I have really taken to these boots as they have answered the call in terms of reliability and comfort. Just like the blue collar boots, there was no breaking in period and they have kept my feet dry and held their own against slippery and muddy environments.

The only minor thing, and this might just be me, is that the leather has a little more of a reddish tint than it looks in the picture and what I was anticipating. Not a big deal though as the boot still looks good and performs well!.

I wouldn’t say these boots are something you want to wear on the job. If it it raining, there is water puddles, you have to walk on wet floors being mopped, walk through wet grass, walk over wet gravel, any kind of water in your environment, it doesn’t even have to be 1/8 of an inch of standing water.

Definitely avoid melting snow and slush with these boots. The soles, the bottoms of these boots, wick up, suck up, grab water and put water inside the boot right under your feet, soaking your socks, like a compressed sponge released under water.

These boots do not keep your feet dry. You take off these boots, your feet are waterlogged and socks soaking wet. The inside of the boot musty and damp. If you walked barefoot, your feet would be dryer.

These boots absorb water through the bottom of the boots. Wearing these boots in outside freezing weather, while the boots are constantly putting any contact moisture from outside the boots inside the boots, could cause frost bite.

These boots do not breathe they absorb water and hold it on your socks and feet. I would not wear these boots to farm or work in. They are a good looking boot. Due to the design flaw only wear indoors for looks.

Definitely not recommended for people actually working. Do not wear to farm, ranch or outside work in. They will soak your feet and socks. I can’t think of any job where you want waterlogged feet.

Great looking work shoe, I enjoy the light weight and the posture and support they provide. However there is a couple of faults, one being the soles are very hard material, plus not much shock cushion on concrete surfaces.

Also my socks are left damp at the end of the work day in these shoes. The price was decent thought for what you get.

I’ve purchased 4 pair in one year. I work outdoors and walk on multiple surfaces all day. Ripped seams, split soles, soles coming apart at the toe. Some times the left, some times the right. Heavy until you get use to them.

My husband needed new work boots for his landscaping job. He tried these and immediately wanted them. They were comfortable and at the time seemed durable. Not even 4 shifts later the sole starts coming off the front of the right boot.

And of course he misplaced the receipt so now here we are gorilla gluing hit boot together until we can come up with enough money for another pair. EXTREMELY disappointed and will NEVER buy from this brand again.

Sheplers did a fine job fulfilling the order. Unfortunately Double H boots have met the fate of selling out to Berkshire Hathaway much like my former boots, Justin’s. This is my second pair of this exact brand and model of boots.

The quality of the second pair is much lower than the first. Typical of Berkshire Hathaway, quality will continue to decline. I switched to Ariat after experiencing the quality decline with Justin. This will be my last pair of Double H.

I found the square toe Double H boots fit better than the round/pointed toe boots. I normally wear an 11, but in the round toe Double H boots I have to go to 11. 5 and then the boot is a little lose.

I purchased these boots in an 11 and they fit great. Also, the folks at STS are great! Only suggestion – you need to alert buyers by email when orders are processed and items have been shipped.

I can not say for sure yet on durability. They lack comfort compared to the twisted x boots I wore for year, but they are made in America so they hold an obvious upper hand to me.

Glad I ordered a half size smaller or these boots would have been too large. In fact, I may have been able to go a full size smaller, but didn’t want to risk them being too tight. Other than that, they are great.

Please also consider making boots like these that are completely black. Thanks!.
