20 Best Standby Diesel Generator For Home Use (2023 Updated)

Ordered while building our new house, so the install was delayed a few months until after move. (My first unit arrived damaged, but was able to return it almost immediately with no hassle at all. The second arrived in a few weeks) I had the transfer switch, wiring, and gas line all roughed in during construction and it was an easy install for the generator installers from Nashville.

It tests every Wed, and as you can see in the pic, I opted for the mobile device so it can be monitored remotely 24/7/365. Opted to pour my own pad on the back of the house and the end result is very good.

One night, a transformer blew in the area recently and the generator performed just as it should. It was only a matter of seconds and we were back in business. (Neighbors noticed my lights on and started asking questions during the next few days.

) One thing worth mentioning is that I also opted to install a device at our AC unit disconnect that prevents the AC from coming on at the same time the rest of the house does. This short delay prevents the generator from experiencing a possible high amp surge on startup.

Another peace of mind! All told, very please with the 7209 generator so far!.

Overall a good generator. However having a few hopefully minor and hopefully covered under warranty issues. For some reason half the time it starts, it throws a 1505 RPM sense loss error code. All electrical connections have been checked including the battery and they read out great.

On top of that, one of the threaded holes on the carburetor was found to be completely stripped out from the factory! Looks like someone tried to cover it up by gluing the bolt into the hole with some Loctite.

Besides these hopefully minor issues, that should be fixed shortly by an authorized Generac technician under warranty, this model seems like it should be solid otherwise.

The gen set was easy to install. And the installation, and owners manuals are easy understand. The only thing I would add is a little more info about NG regulators. The manual shows a regulator provided in the generator but a small note on page 22 talks about installing an additional one.

Systems are different around the country and lots of people do not understand NG fuel pressure and writer column.

This is a great model. Of the ones I’ve been a part of, they’ve been phenomenal. They are the smallest of the two cylinder Generac Auto-Standby generators in the Residential Class. Two cylinders perform better with heavier loads.

The smaller generator size means less fuel required to provide service. So, as long as it’s sized correctly it’ll do the job for less. I believe only one of the 10 kw generators has an alarm registered in the alarm history – and that was prior to purchase, which means it most likely occurred at the factory.

The others that I’m associated with have zero alarms in their alarm history going back close to ten years. An impressive history of reliability. The owners of these units haven’t had a bad thing to say about their decision to go with this 10 kw model.

They use to be packaged with a Whole House Transfer Switch but I haven’t seen that in a while. To purchase the generator and the transfer switch separately drives the cost up to where the 14 kw unit looks more attractive.

It may be a decision to more closely provide the coverage without disappointment, I’m not certain of the reason.

Our generator was installed by a local company and was not working when they did the start up. We were informed parts needed to be ordered. This was not acceptable for us as we paid for a brand new unit, not one that would be repaired (refurbished).

After speaking to the installing company and Generac and voicing our concerns that we feared paying so much for something that was broken and not in new condition, Generac came through and permitted the installer to swap out our unit for another new one.

It started immediately and is working as it should. We now have peace of mind if we are hit with a power outage here in the Gulf. Thank you Generac and everyone that I spoke to that day. You were all so kind as we were so upset.

This Generator kit replaces a 15 year old 17kW set that had died. This set easily powers my whole house. The exerciser is set for Monday morning so I have all week when something occurs. This kit has sound deadner inside for quieter operation.

The case is aluminized so less rust. The kit includes a pad to be filled with water for mounting the generator. At the time of this review my unit only has 2. 9 hours and that was flawless. It is nice to hear it start up, we have many power outages here lately with most lasting 10-15 minutes but hurricane season is here and now I am prepared to at least cook as long as there’s groceries on the shelf and stay cool.

My generator is connected to the internet and I get email from the genset whether it is exercising or from a power outtage. Thanks Kohler.

The factory failed to place the decal showing to allow the generator to communicate with the switch. Installers failed to make correct connections because of the poorly placed decal. The generator did not work.

A Kohler distributor had to send a rep out to correct problem caused by poor quality control at factory. Waiting to see if distributor dares to bill us for the call. Installer has pictures of poorly placed decal and will take care of problem if necessary.

Generator works great. Glad we bought it from you. If we had bought it from the dealer who fixed the problem, it would have cost $7000 or $8000 more. Towards. $18,0000.

This is not a joke. I actually suffered hearing damage trying to measure the noise level. We purchased the generator because of the noise specs, which are 64dB (A) during exercise, and 69dB (A) during full speed operation.

I measured the noise level at 20 ft, and during the beginning of the exercise it measured an average of 79. 6dB (peak of 98dB), and later in the exercise it went up to 83. 2dB (peak of 102dB). This wasn’t even during actual load, just exercise cycle.

Please note that an 83db is almost 4 times louder than 64db. Contacted the manufacturer, the local distributor, a local certified installer, and so far no one has done anything. They all just shrug and say there’s nothing to do.

I haven’t installed this one yet. But as far as the delivery to my home office went,that part went good. The price was excellent for Generac equipment. Best I’ve seen going around the internet. This is my 2nd time buying from Factory Pure….

I bought a couple transfer switches one time. So far,my experiences have been excellent.

Only a factory authorized service technician is now allowed to change settings in the control board other than exercise time. The generator is listed as starting within six seconds on their website and yet it comes in whereby it will not start the engine for 35 seconds and it will not transfer for 45 seconds this is designed specifically to keep non-factory authorized service technicians from installing the generators.

I called Generac and they said in order to change it to the six seconds I have to have the factory technician install it or they will charge the same amount of money to come out and change the setting.

It will function fine but not start for 30 seconds. I have to make that clear to my customers. I will no longer push the Generac to my customers. I will push the Cummings, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, and above all else I will push the Cummings generator.

After unit was installed and working properly I experienced my first power outage. The unit did not turn on until I manually went out and turned it on. Two weeks later I experience another power outage.

Unit would not come on and appeared to be dead, called electrician and found the battery was dead. Installed new battery and started unit, ran for less than 3 minutes and shut off. Called generac certified contractor, came out to inspect unit.

Unit was not charging the battery properly, and the carburetor needed replacement parts. Im still waiting on the proper parts to fix the h it and the contractor is not sure if that will fix the unit.

It has been nothing but a pile of crap, has never ran properly after Initial install test.

I bought the Generac generator to install at my mothers house, as she lives out in the country and regularly loses utility power. The generator arrived exactly when it was supposed to and installation was pretty straight forward.

I did hire an electrician to wire in the transfer switch, and would recommend doing that for anyone who does not possess those skills. Initial start up went smoothly and programming the self test feature was simple to do, just follow the prompts.

Generac customer service was very helpful and easy to work with during initial start setup. Anyone looking for the security of a whole house generator will not be disappointed with a Generac system.

I had a manual start Generac generator for back-up for 20 years and it worked well. I only had to replace a faulty oil sensor in that time. I upgraded last year to the 9 KW auto start unit. I set it to test itself monthly which it does flawlessly.

I did install the cold weather kit too. The generator powered up perfectly for the first power outage we had during a major snow storm a couple of days ago. The power was out for over an hour and it was nice not having to go outside and start/ stop the generator manually like the first one we had.

So far so good as I hope this one performs as good as the old one! It gives you piece of mind knowing your critical systems are powered up during an outage, especially if your away for a few days.

I had a 22KW Standby Generator installed in Oct 2018 with a 10-year warranty. After it was installed, I discovered the SMM Boxes only had a one-year warranty. Within 3 years, 5 circuit boards in the SMM Boxes have burnt out requiring the circuit boards with 2 SMM Boxes to be replaced, I called Generac to complain and received Zero Assistance.

After paying $9,000 for the equipment, I shouldnt be experiencing frustration with the down time and additional expenses.

purchased this for a customer and installed remotely as a whole house install. had new natural gas lines run and an automatic outdoor rated 200 amp transfer switch upgraded home service to 200 amp from 125amp service.

ran new lines underground to house used new 200 amp panel to support whole house essential and generator powered circuits and used old panel to contain the non essential circuits with a contactor connected to a 50 amp SMS to disconnect / power shred the existing panel from the 200 amp during a power outage.

why cant generac design a remote monitor system that doesn’t cost money monthly and would allow you to program / check status of system inside house / easy peasy. system has battery charge issues as well as shows overcrank error constantly.

and now apparently i need to run a internet connection to the pole 200 feet away to pickup the darn wifi signal. im a red seal low voltage electrician and have hired a high voltage electrician to pull the needed permits.

I can see some eager engineer sitting behind a desk telling Genrac that he can save them money on every unit sold by NOT putting an alternator on them. It does have a battery maintainer to keep it charged, but as soon as the power goes out and the battery runs down, the engine will stop running.

I understand that most generators have to only run for a few hrs. at a time. But living near the Gulf of Mexico we have to have generators that will run for possibly days at a time, not hrs. Which is what I experienced last yr.

with Hurricane Delta. I had a 16kw Generac which ran for 3 days non stop and had no problems. I upgraded this yr. to a 22kw and found out after the fact about it not running once the battery dies. I now have to keep a second battery charged and ready to go at all times.

I regretfully say that I would not recommend this generator until this problem is resolved.

After two blackouts in the Northeast this year (2020) I’ve decided to install a generator. My first choice was a portable generator with manual panel. After an extensive research I realized I can get this natural gas unit that is combined with an Automatic Panel for about the same price.

I went ahead and bought the generator it landed on my curbside in three days. The unit itself weight around 200 lbs it took me my wife and kid to move it to its final destination. I built a platform using 3X3 and pea gravel.

Installing the unit is easy, you can do it yourself if you are proficient with gas connections and electricity, otherwise recruit some help. After about a week I got it installed and working. It has most of the features of more expensive units and can power a good chunk of your home.

I connected: A big fridge, A/C, Air Handler, Gas Boiler,Couple of light circuits, All my sensitive electronics. They all work together, powered by the generator. My overall cost ended up $2500 that’s for the unit and all the extra stuff I needed (cables, pipes, conduits, battery, other chachkes).

Few side notes:The unit doesn’t ship with a battery. A U1 type with 300 CCA is required. Generac is offering 24/7 support and will answer all you questions, including some stupid ones (believe me, I tried).

Great having peace of mind thanks to a whole house generator. We rely on well water, and need the furnace to be running in winter in upstate NY. Since installing the generator last fall there’s been several momentary utlity outages lasting less than a minute and generator starts up and lights are back on within 10 seconds.

The transition back to utility power is so seamless that I have to go check if the generator is still running (it’s not). We had a 3-day outage in June after major thunderstorms knocked out power in the area.

Generator did not skip a beat, power in house was rock solid (no flickering lights, no dimming when big load starts up). Only quibble is the wi-fi: the MobileLink app is nice to check status under normal conditions, but when utility power goes down, so does internet service.

Home wi-fi is down when internet service is down, so MobileLink is useless to check generator status, as well as to get informed when utility power comes back on. Generac ought to be providing an LTE modem instead of wi-fi connection to the generator.

That’s why I gave 4 stars to features rather than 5.

I ordered this generator set on a Thursday morning and it arrived the next day around 6 pm! I was shocked it arrived so fast. I’m a career maintenance technician so the installation was a breeze for me.

Did the entire install myself, including running the gas line and the electrical connections. If you have no experience with either, I firmly recommend you get a professional to do those two things. The maintenance on the unit is very easy because Generac has engineered the set for easy access to oil and filter.

The unit comes with clear instructions and a template for mounting on your own slab. My wife is very happy as she won’t have to deal with a portable generator in my absence!.

Only have had it installed a month. So far, so good. I have all the cold weather accessories, but all I’ve talked to say that the breather heater is problematic. I haven’t been able to check this out yet.

I ordered the battery when I ordered the generator because the rep told me it doesn’t come with one. Well, now I have an extra battery I don’t need, because it did come with one. I put heavy in as a con, but I’m bot sure.

Heavy can also mean well made, not flimsy.

Bought two, one for elderly neighbor and one for a friend. They will run only on propane. One issue that I noticed is that airbox intake is an unprotected opening which is where mice will make a nice home – I used some stainless steel mesh and self tapping screws to seal off opening and still allow good airflow.

I did the 5 hours break-in as detailed in manual and used Mobil 1 oil rather than the dino-oil that it came with. I also installed battery tender jr maintenance chargers on each one so when need batteries are ready.

As standby use generator using gasoline is the wrong choice as propane has no negative issues for long term storage (forever ready). I installed 100 gallon tanks for each with 20 ft Quick connect fuel lines.

All good and hopefully will never ever need but in FL that’s just wishful thinking. Pretty quiet to boot.

Set up was straightforward. I followed the simple instructions, and got it working without much trouble. The only minor thing that was confusing was the motor oil: They provide a container of oil, but putting that into the generator didn’t quite get the oil reservoir full (up to the “H”) on the dip stick.

The label on the generator said this size engine needs a little more oil that this container holds. Maybe that was a minor, unimportant thing – but it caused me to find some additional oil to add. The generator is heavy, but not heavier than listed.

It is well-built, solid, and starts easily. The generator is a bit noisy. I have nothing to compare this to, but you certainly not carry on a conversation while standing next to it. I hope my neighbor doesn’t mind!.

Firman provided a turn-key Generator short of a fuel source, and is everything as advertised in the online description as of this writing. Not being a smart-xxx, but read the OManual. Unless you have specialized needs such as operation of the Gen.

over 2,000 ft, or hooking up to a bulk LP tank the OManual is well written-informative. I operated the Gen. on both Gasoline, and LP even though LP will be the fuel of choice. Checked out starting the Gen.

using both the Recoil, and Electric starter all during the 5Hr break-in without concerns. Note that fuel consumption was as advertised whether Gas or LP was used. 1/2 Gal of Gas provided approx. 1Hr runtime, and 1.

5 – 2 Gals of LP provided 4Hrs runtime. Note 1) During LP use I found using an inline LP Gauge upstream of the regulator created an operational issue. I would advise against installing any inline device as a best practice for proper operation during LP use.

Note 2) Should you choose Gas as your fuel of choice, follow best practices by shutting off your fuel. Then run your Gen. out of fuel. As a bonus, there is a drain screw on the bowl on the Carburetor.

You can use this to drain the remaining fuel out of the Carburetor for storage of the Gen. Make sure you tighten, reinstall or replace after draining the fuel. taking care not to overtighten or strip the drain screw.

I purchased on12/30/2021. So I’ve had it less than a month so far. Generator seems to be of good quality. Being less than 5% THD was what had me sold after burning up a couple sensitive electronics last winter with a cheaper smaller generator.

A test run hooked to the house hasn’t been done yet due to my work schedule. Weighing almost 400lbs makes it a little inconvenient for the layout of my property, so I decided to mount it to a small trailer that way I could easily get it around behind my atv.

Out of the box the included trickle charger doesn’t work. Reading the manual it says a 30 minute run will recharge the battery. So until my charging issue is resolved I’ll just run it for 30 minutes a week during the colder temps.

After emailing back and fourth with westinghouse I have new components on the way. Customer service was a little aggravating to get ahold of on the phone, but via emails they have been very helpful. My only concern I would like to see an improvement on in the newer models would have to be the dipstick for checking the oil.

It is not in a real easy to get to place. It was snug pulling it out, but getting it pushed in and reseated was a hassle. I has to use a pair of needle nose at the top of the rubber to help push it back it.

If not the metal handle would have bent. As of now I’m sticking with a 5 star rating. I will update after either doing a test run hooked into the house or in the event of a power outage during these winter storms were getting.

This generator is not for a weak person. It weighs slightly over 400 lbs, so be warned. Unit arrived nicely packaged, no dents or scratches anywhere. I had the pickup handle and wheels installed within 30 minutes after unpacking the unit.

Poured the oil in and attached the battery cables. I think it took me a little over 45 minutes for the whole routine, plus I did stop to read the instructions to make sure I didn’t miss something. Not a single bolt, carter pin or anything else left over except for the oil fill funnel of which I will keep.

I checked everything over and over, put gas in it, turned the gas on, and hit the power button. No start the first time. I hit it again, and it fired right up. I checked the voltages with a digital multi-meter on all of the plug in places.

Everyone of them were giving proper electrical readings. I haven’t had to use the unit yet, but I have no doubt it will keep my home up and running during power outages. I’m getting an electrician to do all the generator to house wiring, so that’s coming soon.

This is a 4 stroke engine, 4 cycle engine that has pressure lube. Nothing but pluses here.

This generator is a beast with the power to sustain my home during major power outage. The unit is able to run a 4 ton ac and hot water tank at the same time. This equates to 7500 watts with both running.

Plenty power left for fridge and other minor house appliance. My ac does have the soft start by hyper engineering. The generator is well built. Two issues I did encounter is when I un-packaged the unit the carbon canister was detached from the bracket.

Might of sustained rough transportation. The gas thank flange on the left side was slightly bent. You can tell because the bolt holding the tank same location as canister is bent. Gas not leaking and tank appears to be intact.

Another minor annoyance is I cant get the generator out of my rear garage door. It is a standard door. I have to remove the door to get the unit out. If the door opened all the way it would be a tight fit.

My door opens at 90 degree angle before hitting the wall. With door removed I have maybe 1/8 inch on each side of the wheels before it hits the door jamb. Did find a black screw in the bottom of the pallet and could not figure out where it came from.

The screw is the same as the ones that hold exhaust heat shield together. Maybe accidentally left in the box during packing.

I cant not leave a review on the product bc I have not received it. I ordered my whole home generator over a month ago and have not received it. I notice on the BBB that other people have had the same problem.

Another week and I am going to have to ask for my money back. 4k is a lot of money for me.

I purchased it as a precaution. It has only operated automatically a couple times, but done so without a problem. Very quiet operation and very fuel efficient. Now my hurricane parties are a real breeze !.

Generator arrived in perfect condition, can’t say the same for the battery. Only trouble now is finding someone qualified to install it. Other wise, very happy with your company

I am using this as a whole-home backup through a manual transfer panel. I’ve added caster wheels to the forklift points and can wheel it out of the garage as needed. I’ve also fitted both A/C units (one a 5 ton and the other a 3.

5 ton) with hard-start kits to minimize time at startup and the ultimate draw of power. As configured, I can run either A/C unit one at a time and power the rest of the house. In the winter, I can run both central heat units and power the entire house.

I keep an eye on power usage through a third-party device called Sense. This unit runs great, and has no problem supplying 100% of its rated power. I’ve also found fuel burn to be lower than published, and can get a full day on a single tank.

Power quality (from Sense) shows a nominal voltage of 117 volts per leg, and frequency of about 61HzThese are currently hard to get (mine took 145 days), but if you can find one, you won’t be disappointed.

Couple of things. First I got the lug model because I was installing in a work truck with a remote outlet. I would not do that again. The plugs on the generator face would have been very handy. Second, this is a “screamer”.

This generator runs at full RPM all the time. Mine is very quiet, but just be prepared that this generator does not idle and then increase rpm with load. It runs welders and saws and A/C units without blinking and I am very happy so far.

I have recommended both the Kubota generator and Absolute Generators to work associates.

Very concerned about a diesel generator that runs at 3,600 rpm. That is a very high speed for a diesel. I’ve been building and repairing diesel and gasoline generators for many years. 1,800 rpm is the generally accepted speed for a diesel engine.

Time will tell I reckon. I have a twin cylinder diesel generator that has been running 16 hours average a day for over 15 years. 165 amp 13,000 watt 120/240v. 1,800 rpm. 3,600 rpm is usually the speed for timed grenade gasoline generators.

There are some 1,800 rpm gasoline generators out there, most of them still running great at 30 to 50 years old. Just saying.

Please consider our experience before purchasing a Generac 5870: I am a retired electrical contractor and am quite familiar with generator systems. Installed July 2011. Battery charging module in control panel failed immediately.

Replaced battery in early August assuming that was the problem. New battery failed (completely discharged) end of August: we contacted Generac. Diagnosed as defective control panel. It took 1½ months more – October 15 – before new panel was installed.

We then purchased a 3rd new battery (originally, the generator did not come with one). Early 2012, generator engine taking longer to start while cranking. Engine failed to start end of February: reported to Generac.

Observed that it would start – after extended cranking – if air inlet on the air-box is covered with my hand. Accidently discovered that engine would start immediately if a “factory hole” in the air-box was sealed off.

Generac replaced the air-box, end of April 2012. Engine still failed to start unless “factory hole” in new air-box sealed off. Generac suspected LP gas supply issue: inspected & tested OK per Gas Co.

on May 6 (they performed original installation). Engine completely failed to start July 2 – reported to Generac. Further calls & emails to Generac not returned for 2 weeks, then received call that Generac will replace fuel regulator.

Again calls or emails to Generac not returned: finally after 25 more days regulator replaced: August 7- issue resolved! August 8: “Inspect Battery” flashing on control panel display. September 1, battery dead: reported to Generac that charger in control panel again failed.

October 3, per Generac Customer Service: “The Service VP and the Sales VP – both are having further discussions regarding whether or not to issue the swap (a new control panel)”. Today, it still hasn’t been replaced.

Generac has not returned my phone calls or emails for 21 days. Of the 15 months that this generator has been in service, it has functioned properly for less than 3 months.

I never received delivery date or time so when the system arrived I could not inspect it, The box was not damaged but when I opened it the front, back, top, and control panel was all bent to the point the top would not open.

I called Factory Pure and they said send pictures. After multiple email, text, and phone calls they said it was my fault and offered $600 credit. I looked on line and the panels alone will cost me $1400 plus paying someone to put them on.

They told me they will sent 2 panels or $600 take it or leave it. Does not seem right to me since the box was not damaged but the generator was seems like they dropped it before it was put in the box, which is not a delivery company’s or my problem.

All I want is them to switch out the generator for a new one and no money back.

The 17KW Generator package is an excellent choice for many homeowners. This model includes a 100amp EZ transfer switch which will back up the 16 circuits you choose in your home. It even has enough power to back up a large air conditioner.

You can select the 16 most essential circuits to you, such as your sump pump, refrigerator, gargae door, bathroom, and kitchen. The 17KW is available with a 200 amp transfer switch as well, to back up an entire home, but in most cases, it makes more sense to step up to the 20KW model if this option is better for you.

The 17KW generator is available in both steel or alumininum cases. For homes near the ocean aluminum enclosures are recommended, but for anyone else, steel works great. The Generac Guardian Residential Generators will all operate on liquid propane or can be easily field converted to natural gas.

One of my favorite features is the “neighbor plug” a 15amp GFI plug right on the generator itself so you can power outdoor quipment or run an extension cord for your neighbor, who will love you forever when their power is out.

I purchased a 20 KW Generac Generator direct from Home Depot – it was on sale and provide significant savings. The auto transfer switch, extended warranty and installation was quoted from Rand Electric through the HD Contractor Division.

The project went off without any significant issues despite the ongoing threat of thunderstorms. The project started on time, work was efficient and ongoing communication was maintained. There was good cooperation and coordination between the generator and propane installers, the Electrical Utility and the safety code inspector.

I was pleasantly surprised to get a visit from a Home Depot representative, checking on the project, making sure I was comfortable and verifying all the qualifications were in place with the assigned trades.

It was something that gave me an added comfort level. The final product orientation instruction was clear and concise and provided a good overview of how the generator works, what to look for and what to do if issues arise.

Overall, a good experience from quotation to scheduling to installation.

Our home is on the coast of rural British Columbia with frequent power outages due to falling branches and trees. This unit is very reliable and well built. The transfer switch is attached to our outside wall and houses the breakers that are supported by the generator.

The breakers were removed from or transferred from the interior breaker panel and rewired into this one. The transfer of power to the generator when the power goes out is seamless. The only way we notice the power went out is that we hear the generator.

We placed it on level cement pavers. An electrician and gas fitter are required to install the unit. Our unit is connected to two large propane tanks. The required battery was not included with the unit, 26R 12V.

We recommend placing this unit as far away from the house as possible because it is loud. We have recommended this unit to others in our community.

These were great people to work with. Now that the generator is installed and tested I can say that it runs perfectly. Shipping and delivery were fast and easy. Our electrician who installed it had no problems.

Generac 70361 Guardian 16kW WiFi Standby Generator w/ 16C 100 Amp Smart Transfer Switch New

I bought this generator as an emergency backup for my home. I tested it only once and it’s very loud when running even with no load. The lights in my house were flickering the entire time. My UPS units were clicking on and off so the power/voltage appears to be dirty.

Use caution with electronics. After starting the furnace and then shutting it off the unit never seemed to regulate the voltage the way it was regulated prior to the furnace starting. I’m a bit worried about it.

I don’t know if I received a broken unit or if this is normal. I’m never owned a generator before.

I bought this unit for emergency power generation with the expectation of running heating/food storage/select lights. The output is certainly sufficient for that purpose. The primary reason for purchase was the tri-fuel capability (gasoline/propane/natural gas) which makes it very likely that I will have fuel options, even in the event of a large scale, longer term disruption.

The unit is well packaged and documented, set up easily and started instantly providing power as expected in seconds at 118 VAC and seemingly pretty stable. Seems decently built.

This generator was a great buy when it was on sale. I bought it primarily because I could hook it up to my Natural Gas line used with my barbecue so I would not have to store propane or gasoline. However, I like the flexibility it offers if I ever need to use it elsewhere.

Still have to install a kit to get power into the house (I bought a King Canada Generator Home Connection Kit) and buy a 50-foot 30Amp extension cord.
