I already have the Acronis WD software so I was able to clone the original drive over. But when I went to register for warranty, WD said this is it’s either an OEM product or the warranty has been voided or it may not be a valid product.

BestBuy told me not to worry and assured me that this is a new drive covered under 3yr warranty and to go back to WD. After many back and forth between Best Buy and WD digital, nothing was resolved, just passing the responsibility.

WD asked for Bestbuy invoice and photo of the drive S/N which I sent, then they stopped responding. Bestbuy said to contact WD, then said to contact Geek Squad (no charge) to resolve this, then Geek Squad said I have to pay before they will look into this (I am not going to pay more for something that should have been covered, or most likely for them to tell me to go back to WD).

After many hours on Chat, I got no where. Best Buy agents either give wrong instruction, or they just say sorry can’t help and abruptly ended the chat, or just left me wait for an hour for their reply so I get tired and hang up.

The last Best Buy blue shirt support told me they only sell OEM products and keep the receipt and WD will cover the warranty (I suspect 3yrs later, I will get the same reply that there is no warranty).

WD site said if you buy a WD drive, you get a license for their Acronis WD software which allows you to clone and backup your drive. Since I can’t register and this is not even recognized as an WD drive, my Acronis license (I got from other WD drives) is not renewed.

(hence the poor quality/value rating) I had always got good response from them before this is the first time I ran into this kind of problem. They just keep stalling and now the 30 days return has passed (got this the end of Oct) and they will do nothing.

I bought a desktop a few years ago for use in my office. The full bootup time (from off to logged in and ready to use) seemed very slow even from the beginning. Over several years of use and several “clean” Win10 installs, I was never able to actually get the computer to respond more quickly.

Factoring in all of the specs of the computer, the bottleneck seemed to be happening with the 7200RPM platter HDD that came with the computer. This WD SSD was on sale and I have had an excellent experience with other WD Blue series SSDs, I decided to upgrade the drive in my computer.

After a clean install, I was up and running within 10 minutes. My load times from cold boot to fully operational dropped to under 30 seconds, vs the 5 minutes (yes 5 minutes) it used to take. YMMV depending on your other hardware specs, but for me, this was a HUGE performance boost.

Even switching between programs, loading programs, and general document editing is now snappy as I would have expected it to be from the beginning. Bear in mind too that this is the only piece of hardware that I changed, everything else in my computer is stock from factory.

Wish I would have upgraded the computer in the beginning.

As a hard drive, this is perfectly fine. Good drive. But as an IT professional I would recommend skipping this drive if you intend to clone your HDD to this SSD using the WD supplied software. The Aaron’s software they use is trash.

If your goal is to clone an HDD to a new SSD, especially if you are going from a larger HDD to a smaller SDD, save yourself some stress and get a Samsung drive. Their software is super simple and quick.

I have used 3 of these in emergency situations lately. The cloning software often glitches, fails, or says it completed yet gave me a non bootable drive. All after a cloning process that took several hours, which a Samsung could have done in one or less.

Fresh install, great drive. Cloning. Skip it.

I have purchased several of these Samsung 870EVO drives recently for PC client notebook upgrades. The price was a little higher than what I would usually install but the Samsung name and reliability helps to sell the higher price.

Installation is easy and Windows 7/10 recognizes the drives without a problem. The Samsung website has updated drivers while the Samsung Magician software monitors the TRIM on these SSD’s to keep them in reasonable shape (If the client wants the software installed).

I have not experienced infant mortality for any of the Samsung SSD’s I have purchased and no complaints either which is a plus for me. The drives seem to run cool enough in the notebook PC’s even with High CPU usage and heavy read/write activity.

Older PC’s and ones with poor cooling have been an issue in the past, even with SSD’s. My only real concern is the VNAND technology combined with the warranty, stated MTBF, and TWB from Samsung for these VNAND SSD’s.

In high read/write applications (large video file transfers and Video Processing), the lifespan of these VNAND SSD’s is sub-optimal. This is especially true when using this drive as a primary OS drive in combination with it being used as a storage drive.

The relatively large size of the drive is supposed to mitigate the cells wearing out. I do not necessarily believe that for high write/read cycle applications with very large files but, time will tell.

For most applications, these SSD’s will work fine (IMO). I still prefer TLC technology for SSD’s that have high read/write requirements to give better longevity. The slower speed and higher price for large capacity makes them less desireable for most PC applications (gaming?) so I can recommend these Samsung 870EVO SSD’s for them.

nice, inexpensive option to add speed to your PC with an old rotational HDD. Easy to install, and the samsung tools make it super easy to transfer your OS and files from your old drive to the new one.

Would recommend to those with lesser/lacking technological knowledge for that reason. These drives are fast given that they’re SATA, and I’ve had zero issues over 3 years with my original 870 evo up until a few hiccups leading to a total failure in early November.

Luckily I had preemptively created a drive image and had it ready to go when the last failed. I have no hesitations with using another new 870 EVO to replace the one prior that has failed, as I’m quite sure the failure was caused by recent power droops/spikes in the local power grid with our cold weather, as the drive had tested with 0 failed sectors the week prior to failure.

If your motherboard doesnt support m. 2 or PCIE ssd options, I’d recommend this to anyone looking to wake up an older PC with a new drive, or replace a recently failed SDD. With that said, I fully expected my 1tb WD Blue Sata SSD that was purchased at the same time to fail first as it’s my game drive and is always virtually completely full, and gets used often, but it’s still running strong after the EVO failed.

If you possess the knowledge to do a complete drive transfer on your own, are willing to pay for file transfer services from a technician, or prefer to do a fresh OS install, I may be tempted to suggest a WD SSD over at least this model of Samsung SSD for that reason.

I don’t know about longevity, but, here’s what I observed after swapping in the 1TB version of this SSD to replace a 500GB WD mechanical drive on a Lenovo ThinkPad W530. The WD only had 228GB on it. The SSD read/write performance increased by 50%; start up increased by 3000%.

What took 5 minutes to fully complete when using the mechanical drive now takes 20 seconds (from Win10/64 boot to all apps loaded). This performance gain ended my debate as to whether or not I should replace the W530 ThinkPad with a newer model.

No need to now. For only $100, the 870 EVO 1TB SSD has proven to be among one of the better upgrades I’ve made to any PC in recent memory. If you have a laptop that is using a spinning HD, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that you swap it out for one of these.

It’s truly a performance upgrade that is immediately noticeable. Every app will snap and run faster than what you are used to. I didn’t know what to expect but now that I’ve done it, I have to say that I am quite impressed.

BTW, the Samsung migration software I used to copy the entire contents and OS from the spinning drive to the SSD worked without a hitch and in less than 15 minutes. Just be certain to run CHKDSK, disable your antivirus, and place your wireless on “Airplane mode” before the migration.

Western Digital’s Blue drives are about as workmanlike a storage solution as you can hope to find. They’re not exceptionally fast, nor do they come with a host of specialized features or attractive styling.

But they are sturdy, affordable, and easy to work with. And the SN570 carries on this tradition. The drive has a fairly basic single-sided layout without any kind of heat spreader or other cooling solution, so installation is unlikely to be an issue in just about any platform with space for a 2280 module.

No mounting screws are included in the box, which is pretty typical but worth pointing out in case the machine you want to install it in didn’t come with any extras. In my case I used it to fill out the second SSD slot in my daily driver laptop, and installation only took about ten minutes total.

As expected there were no issues initializing the drive and it offered a total of 930gb of extra storage (the remainder is reserved for overprovisioning by the drive controller. ) As far as performance goes, it’s acceptable but certainly nothing to get excited about.

Theoretically the drive is capable of reaching speeds upwards of 3000mb/s, but any time it gets up around 2000 it starts heating up a fair bit and ends up throttling back down. It likely would have performed a bit better if I installed it in a desktop with a heat spreader to keep temps under control, but that feels a little bit excessive here.

Write speeds fare a little better but run into their own issues with the included cache, which uses SLC flash rather than the DRAM you might find in higher tier drives. On the one hand this does mean that the drive is less likely to lose data in the event of a sudden power outage, definitely a plus if you happen to be one of the content creators they’re marketing this towards, but it’s also slower to empty out and isn’t large enough to provide a noticeable improvement for larger operations.

As such you might want to think twice if you plan to use this as a boot drive. It’s certainly better than a SATA drive or hard disk, but it would definitely end up chugging in that role. And. that’s about it.

The days I spent testing the thing were about as mundane as you can get, with no real surprises in performance or temperature to report. And for a large storage drive aimed at content creators, that’s definitely a feature rather than a bug.

I’d recommend it to anyone looking to expand their storage without having to resort to older tech.

The WD Blue SN570 1TB SSD is a fantastic upgrade to any computer running a traditional mechanical hard drive or to replace an existing smaller capacity SSD. Just make sure your computer has a compatible M.

2 SSD port, and you’re off to the races. The drive cam securely packaged, and was very easy to install. I did have to create a boot disk using the Windows go into my PC’s BIOS and disable RAID in order for my machine to recognize the device.

Also, if installing the SSD as your boot drive on a Windows PC, you will need to create a Windows USB boot drive using the Windows media creation tool. This is a simple process, and many good tutorials are available online.

The one issue I had with the device, and my reason for 4 stars vs. 5 stars, was the failure of WD to include hold down screws and spacers. My PC did not have these, because I was installing the SSD in a machine that had only a traditional HDD.

I first checked with Best Buy, and then ordered twice from an online retailer before getting what I needed to complete the install. WD could supply a few standoffs and screws in the two sizes normally encountered and make this a complete package for just a few pennies.

It would have made my installation a 30 minute affair instead of dragging on for most of a week over a standoff and a screw. Overall, this SSD accomplishes exactly what one expects from an SSD. Extremely quick boot times and nearly instantaneous file access without the noise of the traditional spinning disc.

The large 1TB capacity is also excellent for most users. Unless you’re doing lots of video editing, storing large numbers of movies and TV shows, or have a huge photo library, this size should be sufficient.

MacMini is so much faster now. Should have done this long ago. Cracking the case and installing the drive was scary, but doable. OWC’s video was extremely helpful. Watched it at least 3 times before getting the courage to proceed.

I bought the kit that included the tools and external case, and that was all good stuff. (Also viewed a webpage from iFixit on this same process. Also very helpful, especially the comments by users. ) But in the end it took less than an hour.

And the results are magnificent. Only one issue: While popping off the IR plug from the motherboard, I ended up accidentally removing the entire socket off the board. (Didn’t feel like that, just pried off the plug as shown in the video.

) But therefore could not reattach the IR circuit. (Local shop says it will cost $150 to resolder it to the board. ) But I’m just running without it. Don’t use a remote, so don’t need the IR. The only problem is that the same circuit has also disconnected the power-on light on the front of the MacMini, so I lost that ability to see if the Mac is powered on.

Not a huge issue: I’m running without a power-light on the front. Everything else works great.

I bought a used, inexpensive Mac Mini 2014 Core i5 online. It came with a 250 GB SATA drive and Yosemite loaded on it. It ran somewhat okay, actually not much better than my 2009. I had wanted to run the latest OS (Monterey) which wasn’t supported on the 2009 Mini, which is why I bought the 2014.

Once I had Monterey installed on the 2014, boy, did that machine ever bog down. I got spinning beach balls for just about every mouse click. I was ready to toss the Mini into my closet and buy a brand new Mac, but then I read an article on how just swapping out the SATA drive for an SSD would drastically improve things.

So I went to MacSales where I’ve purchase many items in the past. For a very affordable price, I bought a 480 GB Mercury Extreme SSD. Delivery was quick. They had an easy-to-follow install PDF on their site.

Once I installed the new SSD and got it up and running with the new OS, man oh man, was there a big difference in performance. The little 2014 Mini was zipping through app openings and downloading websites with no effort at all.

And gone forever were those annoying beach balls. Bottom line: if you have a Mac Mini with a SATA drive, you really owe it to yourself to upgrade to an SSD. It will seriously transform your Mac and your whole computing experience.

I most likely just received a defective product by some freak accident, as I can’t imagine what else could possibly explain the sudden failure of both my SSD that I was transferring files from, and also bricked my motherboard almost entirely.

Luckily enough for me, my Motherboard was still under it’s limited warranty, as I had only recently purchased it, but losing my other SSD did set me back a good ~150$, as well as all of my data being unretrievable, even tried taking it in to multiple PC repair shops (the SSDs), and even they couldn’t access any of the files, aside from read-only access on a very few limited files, which were all scrambled, even text documents on notepad I had on my desktop.

The place I had gone to first, which my friend happened to co-own, showed me some of the. txt docs, and it was freaky. Just missing big chunks, displaying in some areas what looked like someone had tried to edit it with paint, or something, and just erased a bunch of it.

oddly though, where it was missing text and looked like it was erased, it showed up as if the erased part was spraypainted different colors. Both of us had absolutely no idea what could’ve possible caused this, it honestly would’ve been fascinating; if it weren’t for all the lost data that hadn’t been backed up yet.

Anyways, what I’m trying to get at is that I can only assume that the NVMe was either infected with some sort of malware (unintentionally, of course, if this were the case), or I just basically was extremely unfortunate hence receiving a defective product.

Could’ve been somehow damaged in shipping. but it wouldn’t really explain everything. Either way, I’m leaving a 1 star review due to this, but for the very brief time it worked, it seemed just fine. so take my review with a large grain of salt, so to speak, and just be sure to check for any abnormalities before installing any and all componenets (just as you should, in general, just like you would with anything else.

I had a number of samsung base level evo SSDs as my data drives but I wanted to populate the m. 2 on my mobo with something for my boot drive. Did not need to be big but was hoping for some speed for the windows boot.

I didn’t need it to house games so when I saw this DRAM-less card on sale, it fit the bill. Many people were saying that the lack of dram should be less noticeable with its nvme4 speeds. It is. Anyone writing reviews here saying this is lightning fast has never had a lightning fast drive before.

Right off the bat crystal mark scores were hugely inconsistent. 1gb speeds one test and 250mbyte speeds the next test. Recently I picked up a 2nd nvme drive, samsungs 980 which is not bleeding edge, but pushes 1gb-sec without breaking a sweat.

I copied a 60gb Good old games installation pack back and forth (just a series of 4gb files) which is the kind of test you do for BIG consistent numbers. It shows you the stamina of a data rate. After a few seconds into the file copy when the windows cache has run out, this drive averaged around 280-360 Mbytes / sec read and struggled at 220Mbytes, even falling to as low as 110Mbytes writing.

Comparatively, the read speeds to my SATA samsung SSD is 500-600Mbytes read and 380 Mbytes writing, and the graph was far more consistent. Not only was the drive slowish but the speeds were quite inconsistant, bouncing up and down where as my other drives were a more uniform graph.

I used some software to monitor temps but it did not seem like the Team NVME was getting particularly hot. It does have a motherboard supplied heat spreader on it. The samsung was actually running hotter, it has a 3rd party heatsink but because it is on the back of the motherboard it has almost no airflow.

So honestly this NVME is one of my worst performing drives, even compared to my Sata3 (thats right, 6Gbps) drives. it still serves me fine as my boot drive, but I wouldn’t play any of my games from it, and I would not recommend it.

Installed this in my Dell Alienware 17 R3 (2016) laptop. Thought it wasn’t going to work at first, but as soon as I booted into the UEFI BIOS, and verified that it was listed under SSDs, I rebooted and had no issues booting.

Purchased AEOMI Partition manager, cloned the old SSD (C:) to the new SSD (Temporarily D:), shut down, removed the old drive, put the new one in the old drive’s slot, rebooted. Once booted, formatted the additional space on the new drive as my data drive (D:)! Easy peasy – increased performance, lots of room.

Using the old drive as a VM only partition for EVE-NG (my network emulator that I use for my Cisco Certifications – works amazingly well!).

Its said that when trying to increase the speed of your pc, the first and easiest thing to replace is the hard drive. And I agree. The 870 QVO SATA SSD is Samsungs budget level SSD with storage capacities up to 8 terabytes.

It is a SATA interface drive which is limited to 600 MBsecond transfer rates, unlike NVMe drives which can reach speeds of 3500 MBsecond. While these numbers look good on paper, there are lots of variables and reallife scenarios to take into consideration.

A quick google search will show many review sites with all the big test results and comparisons. In my opinion, from a consumer standpoint, the only thing that matters is how much faster the drive makes your computing experience.

Swapping the new SSD into my older Dell laptop was simple and only took about 10 minutes and the difference is amazing. If you are not planning on cloning your existing drive and want to install a fresh version of your OS, know that this drive comes completely blank and will need to be partitioned and formatted prior to using.

Trying this, a clean install of Windows 10 home from a USB 3. 0 thumb drive took less than 10 minutes in my I7 laptop with 16 GB of ram. My laptop now boots to Windows 10 home in about a minute compared to several minutes or more with the old hybrid drive.

Programs launch almost immediately. I also have a similarly specd desktop PC that has an NVMe PCIe drive and in my use, the speeds and load times are too close to notice any significant difference. The Samsung Magician software shows drive information, details and benchmarks.

It is also used to diagnose any issues your new SSD may have as well as secure erase and drive encryption if thats something you need. My only negatives for this SSD are the warranty which is only three years vs the usual five years that most other manufactures offer and not having a direct link to the Samsung Magician and cloning software.

I highly recommend the new Samsung QVO SATA SSD to anyone who is looking to speed up their computer and is limited by a SATA interface.

This is the first time that Ive owned a 1TB SSD. I was a little skeptical about the performance and reliability so I decided to try different things to see how adaptive and reliable the drive is. Samsung states that the drive speed can go up to 560530 MBps of sequential readwrite through and up to 98,00088,000 random readwrite IOPS which is quiet good for the amount of data it can store.

So first I use it as a startup C drive and installing Windows 10 from scratch. I used my old Acer Desktop as well as a new HP Laptop. Both Units were able to see the drive with no issues, even if the acer HDD controller of the acer was really old.

I installed windows 10, and the installation was fast. Once it finished the installation I installed several programs like office, games, etc. No problem. I booted the drive several times to see if there were any problems but there were none.

Then I put the original c drive on both units Acer Laptop and HP Desktop both of them has a HP 256 SSD with a SATA 3 interface 6GBs c drive to boot with Windows 10, and the Acer has also a D drive Toshiba 2 TB HHD.

I copied data from the 256 SSD boot drive to the Samsung 1TD SSD, and the data transfer speed reached the 490MBs, which is really good, then I tried the copy from the Toshiba 2TB HDD drive to the SSD Samsung and the speed was 200MBs, something that I was expecting because the Toshiba is not SSD.

The other thing that I did was to see if I can use it as an external drive. I have a USB3 to SATA adapter, and it was immediately recognized in both machines. I was able to backup data and the data transfer went up to 150MBs, considering it is using USB port is really good.

Something that I found really cool was the Samsung Magician software that can be downloaded from the Samsung website. It is a really useful and powerful tool, I can see not only the samsung SSD drive, but my other 2 drives, the Toshiba HDD and the HP SSD, and if both have the SMART technology integrated, the SW will tell you any PFA of the drives.

However, for the Samsung SSD it has a lot of tools like, Low Level Format, Temperature, Serial Number, Firmware update, diagnostic scan, performance Optimization. Another test I did was to fill the disk until 85 of capacity and I didnt see any performance decrease on data transfer.

So, no matter what I did, this drive has accomplished very well, for Windows 10 it behaves wonderfully, as a boot drive, it make seen the Windows 10 very fast and responsive but that is because the drive is really fast.

Very pleased with the performance, this Samsung 870 QVO 1 Tb is a good deal. I highly recommended.

I bought this to replace a smaller-capacity 850EVO drive in one of my systems because I ran out of space on it. Samsung offers free downloadable Drive Migration software for Windows (produced by Clonix according to their documentation) to automatically copy an old drive to a new drive, expand the partition sizes and make it bootable, so upgrading from an existing drive to the new drive is pretty easy if you use Windows: connect the drive to the PC (via SATA or USB or any other way), download and run the software, shut the machine down, swap drives and start the machine up again.

The time that it takes depends mostly on the speed of your hardware; I copied my old SSD to the new one at about 50MB/s through a USB3-to-SATA dongle. SATA to SATA would have been faster I’m sure. The Drive Magician software, also available online (for Windows, Linux and MacOS) from Samsung, lets you see some useful data such as the total amount of data written (so you can see when your drive is wearing out), temperature, free space etc.

It also lets you run a benchmark, and it lets you over-provision the drive (i. e. reserve some space to be used as spare storage for when sectors start to wear out and fail — it should take many years before that happens).

Now the cons: I use this system for Windows software development and I’ve noticed that since I got this QVO drive, whenever I do a full rebuild of a large project, my Visual Studio sometimes completely stops responding.

I’ve read some information about how these drives work and I think the problem is that the large compile job with many small files that are read and written at pretty much the same time, fills up the cache memory on the drive, and slows the system down.

Visual Studio will complete the job, but it’s pretty much impossible to do anything else at the same time. I bought this SSD somewhat on a whim because I noticed it was one of the cheapest for its capacity.

But I think I’ll move this to another system that has less of a need for fast storage, and I’ll get another faster SSD (based on different technology and probably unfortunately more expensive) for this system.

Write it off as a learning experience.

I use this 2TB version as an external boot drive to try out new macOS versions before installing them on my internal drive. I haven’t found a better external drive solution, but I am disappointed that the best sustained write speeds I have gotten are around 1500 MB/s and that under heavy use (I don’t know if it is heat, internal garbage collection, or a combination of them both) the write speeds have dropped to as low as 500 MB/s.

Read speed vary about as much, although the seem rebound faster. (I doubt it’s heat, because I literally put the drive in a cooler with frozen cold packs and got the case down to the point where it was uncomfortably cold to hold, and still saw slowdowns.

So I expect it is internal garbage collection. ) For comparison, I have a SanDisk 2TB Extreme PRO Portable External SSD – Up to 1050MB/s – USB-C, USB 3. 1, which is USB-C, not Thunderbolt, and has sustained write around 720 MB/s and read around 630 MB/s.

That is now available for $320 compared to $549 for this. And the newer SanDisk 2TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD – Up to 2000MB/s – USB-C, USB 3. 2 Gen 2×2, which has faster read and write speeds (though practically no one has the USB 3.

2 Gen 2×2 interface to get the most out of the drive) is even cheaper as $290. All three are good drive choices, although at this point I see no reason to pay more for the slower, older Sandisk drive.

And like I said, this OWC drive has a real Thunderbolt interface and can sustain 1500 MB/s for a while. I am mainly disappointed at how much the speed degrades under heavy use.

This drive has consistently disappointed. It won’t stay mounted on my iMac Pro and certainly not on my MacBook Pro M1. Was hoping to use it for a time machine drive and short term storage while I was on the road but it wouldn’t stay mounted long enough to ever complete a Time Machine back-up.

Even after lowering security settings as suggested but OWC tech support. When I tried to returned from my travels I tried to return it but the warranty was past it’s date so I’m stuck with a very expensive useless drive.

This is advertised as reliable and universal. It is not. The tech staff told me there are articles written in the OWC blog about making it work. Unfortunately I don’t read the blog (and was unable to find said articles).

So they know there is a problem. On The MacSales website the lack of compatibility with M1 Macs is not documented anywhere that I could find. Quite the opposite. They make it sound like it will work with most any Mac manufactured for that past 14 years.

But the fact that it doesn’t stay connected on my iMac Pro (Intel) or MacBook Pro M1 is telling. It’s an expensive peripheral to buy and not work. I would absolutely recommend staying away from it. So far my T7 SSD has worked wonderfully and taken the place of the 2TB Elektron.

I tried a few different bus-powered TB3 drives, including the most expensive ones you can buy. This 8TB Envoy Express was the best BY FAR. The other drives wouldn’t even format on my M1 (it’s a known problem), but the Envoy Express did.

I’ve been using it with my M1 MacBook Pro for months now. I’ve edited many Final Cut Pro libraries (some over 2TB in size) with multiple streams of 4K footage (optimized) from Panasonic Lumix cameras and iPhone 13 Pro Max phones.

This drive has not even hiccuped! When under sustained use, it does get hot, but all of these external, bus-powered TB3 NVMe M. 2 SSDs do (they’re meant to), and this one doesn’t get as hot as the other, more expensive drives I tried.

The heat has not affected the drive’s functioning. I bought two of these when they were on special. My experiences with the other brands were so bad that I returned the other one of these (unopened) because I thought I’d be dissatisfied with them in the long run.

It’s a couple of months later, and my only regret is returning the other 8TB Envoy Express I ordered. The one I kept works so well that I now really wish I had kept both of them!.

Great hard drive. It is very compact and light weight. It is a perfect hard drive for working on the go. It’s fast and durable. I needed a external hard drive to back up my files from my computer. This has become my favorite portable drive.

Its pretty fast and I’ve transferred a lot of data from my laptop, freeing up space and I have all of my important docs at my fingertips with lots of free space left over. The external edges are cushioned,has a rubber bumper to withstand a long fall onto a hard surface.

It is ready to go with Mac and also compatible with Windows via reformat. The greatest feature for me is the USB-C connector which is very easy to use,The connector is also protected by a silicone cover that’s very easy to put on and off.

This one provides enough memory space with 1 TB and durability for traveling. It is very responsive and most of all well made. 100 % satisfied!!.

This drive did not show up as a disk in my PCs( I tried many so i’m sure it’s the problem of the drive). I searched online and realized that I need a sofware called G-Technology Format Wizard to format it first.

Windows default Disk management cannot format it. Posts online said the sofware pops up automatically when the the drive is connected, but mine did not. I found the website, but the software could not be downloaded by Chrome.

I switched to Edge and it was warned as virus( it is from their official website). I ignored the warning and downloaded then installed it. It finally formatted the drive. Looks like everyone else have this software automatically installed.

A standard 2TB drive in a bullet proof vest. This drive is built tough. A rubberized shockproof case which is also dust and waterproof. This is my 3rd external drive. A durable drive is what I wanted as it travels with me.

The 1st two drives have identical backups of 200,400+ photographs and are locked in a fireproof safe. Comes with a C-to-C port cable. No special adaptor now needed. Downside is the bulk and weight of the unit.

This won’t be slipped into your pocket.

I have so far been very pleased with my MB Air. Even though it is the entry model, it is very fast and has dealt comfortably with any tasks I have thrown at it, however my demands of it is limited mainly to internet browsing, email, banking etc.

I also run Norton antivirus and Nord VPN. Though quick, I doubt it would manage intensive video editing, but if that is what you need, then you should probably be looking at a MacBook Pro. The screen definition is breathtaking, I also have a high end HP Windows laptop with the same screen resolution, but here Apple wins hands down with its crisp photographic like images and vivid but natural colours.

Build quality seems top notch, far better than the aforementioned HP. I love the passive cooling (no fan noise) and have not noticed any cooling issues. Battery life is excellent, about 15 hours on a full charge performing routine duties.

So what are the downsides? Well, it is expensive. It is not possible to upgrade it in anyway (such as adding more RAM or a larger SSD) and Apple will probably stop allowing it to update in about 4 years at most.

However there are ways around the latter point, my 2011 MacBook Pro is currently running OSX Monterey, but that computer has been heavily upgraded to cope with that. Personally I am very pleased with my purchase and love using the computer.

I need to travel soon, and it is so light and compact, it is the perfect companion. However I will probably be here buying another in 4-5 years time when Apple try to make it obsolete.

Buyer Beware: This company deliberately ships defective product to customers. There is absolutely zero possible way that a visibly damaged “non-charging” charge port could get through a “multi-point inspection & full data purge”.

My MacBook Air showed up to my home with damaged charge port that prevented the charge cord to attach to unit properly. Best Buy customer service was contacted within 20 minutes of receiving product, they messaged seller on my behalf explaining my MacBook is defective and that I require a proper working machine.

They also reassured me that BuySpry have 5 more units exactly like mine for sale on their site. I said “Great, just have them exchange my damaged MacBook for a non damaged one!” BuySpry just emailed me: (copied & pasted from their email) “I am sorry to hear that this MacBook Air’s charging port is defective.

Please note that we are unable to facilitate replacements or exchanges at this time. ” Very disappointed and unhappy with purchase!.

Really happy with this. It’s my fourth Macbook, and I love the new colour. I was keen on the blue initially, but the finger prints show on that, so went with this, and its a gorgeous pale gold. Love it.

Workwise I have only used this for Scrivener and the like, so not really tested its capabilities. But it seems to handle my multitude of screens well. Lost a star for the lack of 3 months Apple TV though, as the promotion.

If you have had a previous promotion on Apple TV then you are disqualified. I did contact Apple, who were lovely, but could not help. 3 months Apple TV, as promised, would have been the icing on the cake.

My 512 GB MacBook Air 2012 SSD was almost filled up, and it was sooo inconvenient to move large files to an external drive, so I was very happy when I saw this 1TB upgrade. Now I have over 500GB available.

It’s like getting a whole new computer. I restored the OS and all my apps and data from an external Time Machine backup flawlessly. I had previously upgraded the MacBook Air from the factory original 254 GB to the 512 GB SSD from OWC.

Currently, OWC’s web site warns that their Envoy enclosure only works with ORIGINAL Apple SSDs, but I was able to put the OWC 512 GB SSD into the enclosure and use it. So now I have both large-capacity external SSD drives.

I still run Mohave for compatibility with old peripherals. The mechanical work took about 30 minutes and the instruction videos were easy to understand. The computer definitely runs faster now.

Being able to increase my MacBook’s hard drive capacity was a game changer! The Aura seems to perform a little bit faster than the Apple stock SSD. Very happy about that! My old HD cooked itself (literally) and the machine stopped working. After diagnosing the problem, I found this hard drive and ordered it. Cheap 2-day shipping was a huge plus. I got the drive and kit and had my computer running again within an hour.

The torx and pentalobe drivers were key to dismantling the MacBook Air. The external drive Bay case would have been great for getting my old data if the drive has functioned at all. Thanks!.

Watching numerous You tube tutorials I realized the physical work of switching over the hard drive would be the easy part. Getting the old disc transferred to the new ssd was problematic until I figured out how to “unmount” and get the read discs to function with old drive being “encrypted.

” I’m not up with computer terminalogy but all went well. I’m amazed at the speed my old mid 2012 Macbook Pro runs at now. This changeover has added years of life to my old Mac. If I can figure this out.

anyone can!! On the down side testing out my programmes I learned my seldom used Windows package had expired.

The SSD was great and is my favorite part of my MacBook upgrade but I don’t understand how to use the “metal drive enclosure” that came with it. I tried plugging it into my computer but it wasn’t being recognized.

And there’s no instructions in the box or online that talk about what this little metal box is for! Other than that, my MacBook feels like a brand new computer and it’s actually a pleasure to use for the first time in 3 years.

Major difference in my Macbook after installing (plus the Ram upgrade). It was easy to install OS using a US thumb drive and Time Machine. I did have to go buy separate screw driver set because the side rails screws were a different torx bit size than what was included in the kit, but that’s okay.

It was easy to install and putting the old drive in the enclosure was also a cinch.

2014 HP laptop with old school, very slow, 5400rpm 500gb Seagate drive. Thought “boy this thing is getting slower n slower with Windoze 10”. Read about these SSD’s breathing new life and speed so figured why not try it.

Bought the 240gb ssd seeing I only used around 100 of my original 500 anyway. MAN was I blown away at the speed. Used to take 3-5 minutes to get booted up to a useable system. NOW? 40 seconds before it is ready to go! Only 10 seconds to shut down.

After installing 4GB of memory a few years back and not seeing much of a boost I didnt believe upgrading to an SSD drive would do much more. Had to buy the Sata to USB cable for 13 bucks since its a laptop.

I bought a second drive for the wifes older laptop too after she was blown away by how fast mine got. ONLY issue is finding free cloning software. Macrium is the only one that will clone for truly free even if you are downsizing a drive from 500 to 240gb.

Guess at this pricepoint they didnt want to include cloning software. But lots of them say free until you want to make a clone of your drive. Macrium is truly free. Took about an hour to complete the process.

Took longer trying to find this awesome program after downloading so many others to discover cloning isnt free. Ugh.

I needed a new drive as I use a Crucial P5 for my boot drive which only has 512gbs (still an amazing drive and recommend the p5 on sale) and my 2tb barracuda was also full. The PNY drive has an average of 535 MB/s so its nothing to write home about compared to nvme ssd’s.

But MAN does it do its job so well. I’m able to copy and download files to it with ease. In GTA 5 I am able to load into single player at half the time it takes my hard drive to. Battlefields 4 and 1 load in at around 40 seconds, compared to the 3 MINUTES my hard drive would give me.

Siege I moved from my m. 2 to it and I still load into matches faster. Call of Duty warzone got rid of annoying texture pop-in/degradation on the SSD and Forza Horizon 5 is able to run textures at ultra settings.

So yes, I highly recommend this drive who are looking for a secondary drive for games. I got this very cheap at like $60, and I feel impressed at the performance and reliability at the price I got it.

The PNY kit was new, unused, not a single write on it,checking with Crystal diskinfo. Just not in OEM packaging. Boot time with this SSD is about 7 seconds, will vary with MOB/CPUsetup. Shut down is maybe 10 seconds.

Loads intensive softwarelike CS6 or other programs in about 7-8 seconds. Having used thisonly one week, I can’t give any thoughts on longevity and long term reliability. The drive DOES NOT come ‘with’ cloning software.

You need to goto the PNY website to get the link to download it. I knew this from pastHDD/SSD cloning. The software is Acronis for PNY. If you have issues cloning with Acronis download Macrium Reflect 8 free.

Using a 3. 0 port your clone should go quickly.

Received product within 5 days with free shipping. I had already cloned my existing drive to an external HDD using Super Duper software. Installation was simple and easy. After installation, I booted into the external HDD previously cloned and used Super Duper again to clone the HDD back to the new Aura Pro X2.

There were a few re-activations to accomplish like MS 365 Office programs and such. One strange difference I noticed was when booting up from power off, the boot takes longer than before, and at first, the screen stays completely black for 34 seconds before the Apple logo appears, and a total of 66 seconds from power on until the log-in appears.

This is quite a bit longer than the boot up time was before the upgrade. I am at a loss to understand why it boots slower since the drive speed is faster. The disk speed, however, has about tripled. Originally, using BlackMagic, I measured about 450 MB/S for read speed, and with the upgrade measured around 1,490 MB/S.

The 1. 0TB NVMe upgrade replaced a 512GB SATA PCIe blade. I was already using the latest Big Sur O/S, so the NVMe controllers were were already in place. In reality, the improvements amounted to 1. slower boot ups; 2.

Apps load quicker; 3. Seldom see spinning beach ball anymore; 4. twice the storage space. All in all, the upgrade was worth the cost to keep my MBP going a few more years.

Swapping the 500GB original Apple SSD drive for the new 1 TB drive was extremely easy. It now runs faster, and I have plenty of free space to run better and can store more data at the same time. I also opted for an enclosure for the original Apple drive so I now have an additional USB drive for backup or recovery.

The current price point makes it a no-brainer to upgrade, just like recently doubling my memory from 16GB to 32GB on the Mac Pro which also greatly enhances overall performance. The disk upgrade is a bit challenging depending depending on your upgrade strategy.

There are good videos to watch that provide guidance. When I initialized the new disk, I did not pay close enough attention to the format of the new disk, which slowed me down. Once I corrected that, I used the Apple “Migration Assistant” to copy my old disk.

One other issue was that my old family “Microsoft Office 2011” ceased to function. Microsoft has a web site where I could enter the original serial number and receive a new code to apply, it now functions again.

(This is my own computer, my work laptop has the latest Office 365 subscription. ).

I purchased this SSD transfer kit toupgrade my MBP from 500G to 1Tb internal SSD storage. I specifically paid extra $100 so I can have a transfer enclosure for the SSD I pull out of the MBP. the Aura Pro X2 SSD works well in the mBP but I could never get the transfer enclosure to work reliably.

trying to copy files from the originall SSD in the transfer enclosure produce numerous errors. fortuately I had an backup I was able to resurrect the contents. however, few uses after, the SSD in the transfer enclosure failed to mount.

I contacted OWC support, and now they tell me that the particular vairant of the SSD model that came out of my MBP is incompatible and I need to buy a PCIe adapter to put it into a MacPro!!!! I don’t have a MacPro with PCIe.

if that is the situation, my 500G original internal SSD is completely useless, and $100 extra I specifically spent for misadvertised/misrepresented. I am currently in negotiation to return the SSD transfer kit and get my $100 back, but we will see how that goes.

So far so good. Delivery was earlier than ETA actually. Product works well even for someone who had not done under the skin work for some years. I think the 855 is a perfect upgrade kit for the MBP range and really makes a huge difference for anyone who needs that extra disk space.

I now have an MBP that I am going to use for several more years if my only problem were disk space and will not hesitate to upgrade to the bigger Jetdrive capacity when that need arises. Now I can focus on the things that I want to do with the constant file shuffling between ssd and external drive.

My advice would be to make an extra Time Machine bootable drive to have that extra piece of mind. I definitely recommend the Jetdrive.

Install was easy, but does require that you’ve carefully planned your data transfer. I chose to do a clean install of MacOS and selectively copy back files from an external backup; it’s just how I roll.

If you want to transfer everything intact, check out something like Carbon Copy Cloner (or similar disk cloning utility). Ten days after installing, my Macbook Air is working normally (similar speed, battery life, and quadruple the storage space).

Fantastic alternative to buying a new computer. Includes all the necessary tools and hardware to upgrade your MacBook Pro. Transcend provides good support and step by step instructions. If you’re comforatable replacing a hard drive, RAM, or a video card on a PC, you’d be fine doing this.

When you’re done, you’ll have your old drive the enclosure that you can use for auxilary storage or as back up.

This is nice it is like having a super super super fast hard drive and it allows for tons of battery life because there is no moving parts like normal hard drive. The only bad part is it is expensive when the price comes down I can see this replacing hard drives but not until price come down.

And to really really make it take the place of hard drive they will have to increase the total capacity of the drive. One TB is not that big anymore the average computer now has about 2 to 3 TB of storage.

So in closing this is a great product but if price concerns you then this is not for u because a normal hardrive will do just fine.

I bought this SSD to add to my new Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 15. 6″ (2021 model). The Galaxy Book Pro has an M. 2 2230 SSD by default, and it’s hard to find a 1TB with 2230 or is expensive if it is available.

Good thing the laptop has an extra M. 2 2280 NVME slot for upgrades. So instead of replacing the SSD, I just got this PNY CS2130 1TB as an additional drive. The installation was quick and easy, the laptop was able to recognize and formatted it without any problem.

I won’t go over the details of the read/write speeds of this drive, but I can tell, this one is very snappy. I was able to open up 64 megapixels RAW images in Adobe Lightroom really quick, and exporting these images into jpegs to the drive is fast.

Before, when I am exporting a hundred images to a spinning drive, I can stand up, get some coffee before it gets done. But with this setup, I don’t even have time to stand for it to finish exporting a hundred images.

I’ve been using this drive for barely a week now, and I am impressed. If this lasts me at least 5 years, then it’s worth it. Highly recommendable.

This is my first SSD and I wish I had installed one before. However, this M. 2 drive is great, and so fast to boot my rig. I will likely purchase a larger one in the near future for full backup after experiencing this drive!.

An upper middle of the pack drive. No review on long-term reliability yet for this drive but longevity should be good if past PNY drives I own are any indication.

This drive is rated at 560 MBps reads and mine maxes out at 560. 563 MBps. While it slightly exceeds its rated read speed, it more than doubles its rated write speed. While this drive is rated @ 160 MBps, mine clocks in at 321.

126 MBps which more than doubles its rated speed. I was disappointed I was limited to this 42mm drive after seeing Transcend’s 60mm version of the same capacity was nearly double the write speed @ 310 MBps.

Once installing this and seeing it writes faster than even the 60mm version’s rated speed, I’m no longer disappointed! This drive has more exceeded my expectations and while this is my first Transcend product, it surely won’t be my last.

After running the benchmarks, I couldn’t think of anything other than it seemed too good to be true but I checked and rechecked and everything is correct. I have this installed on an ASRock Z97 ITX build (item#N82E16813157504).

If you’re in the market for an m. 2 drive, you won’t be disappointed if you go with the Transcend.

I bought this for a GPD WIN2 as a storage upgrade from 128 GB to this 256 GB I got this SSD as Transcend is a known good quality brand. Particualrly as the write speeds are very good, the build quality is good and it doesn’t run hot on heavy usage.

I avoided getting the 512 GB version, as the price gets prohibitively high and in the GPDWIN2, the 512 GB version reportedly runs a bit hot, which I don’t want on a portable device. Anyway, great purchase!.

Very simple upgrade to an Acer (or maybe other) Chromebook whether it be 16GB or 32GB. Having 128GB makes it a better chromebook. Easy job. Remove screws on base. Undo screw of original disk and replace with 128GB disc.

Recommended even for the non technical.
