20 Best Speaker For Jet Ski Under 50 (2023 Updated)

If you don’t want to pay for an overpriced speaker (JBL, Beats, Sony,Philips) then buy this one. Very loud for size, decent bass and some of the best app features to change the sound. Took this on a few kayak trips and it handled a few splashes well.

I use this as my truck speaker. Drive a 92 single cab Chevy and refuse to rip the old ones out. I feel like if this one breaks in the next year or two I’ll just purchase another one. Like I said this is my truck speaker so it is used daily.

This speaker has great sound. For the price and size, you can’t beat it. The only concern is that the woofers on the side are kinda exposed. It’s also not as loud as the Motion but makes up for it in sound quality and bass.

Overall I would recommend this speaker.

Best BASS under $100 period. Both the motion plus and motion boom are excellent speakers and for the price nothing comes close. If you love bass get the motion boom if you like mids and highs (vocals) buy the motion plus.

Why not buy 2 of 1 of them for less than 1 JBL charge 5 and really crush it!.

This is my 3rd Buckshot 2. 0 ordered in as many months — 2 for me and 1 as a gift to someone. The sound, operation, and value is incredible! I’d like to make 1 suggestion, if feasible, on the strap color.

My black Buckshot has a black strap and my green one has a green strap; both are consistent and look great. However, on my last order, the Red Buckshot has a BLACK strap and doesn’t look good. I know it’s a cosmetic issue and doesn’t affect performance.

Suggestion: make strap color the same as the unit, i. e. – red – red, blue-blue. Y’all did it for the Green one, but not other colors? Thanks for allowing me to provide customer feedback! Rock on!!! Tim.

I’m a longtime fan Outdoor Tech’s Buckshot. As a matter of fact this is the 6th I’ve bought. Our family of cyclists have enjoyed this cycling essential for many years. Music, news, sports, anything that makes a cycling trip more fun comes via Bluetooth from my phone out the nice speaker in this product.

It mounts nicely on the handlebar using the included rubber sling. I keep it vertical with the speaker facing up which keeps the sound heading my way as I lean over the handlebars while riding. Modestly priced…a terrific value.

I lost my my buckshot 1. 0 doing dump runs and probably missed it in the trash pile and was so bummed until I got my buckshot 2. 0. I’m so happy to have my buckshot again. It’s the easiest portable Bluetooth speaker I’ve ever had for work projects.

I’ve been an audio enthusiast since the early 90’s and have listened to countless audio related configurations over the years with a critical ear, and when comparing every major brand within the same price range, the Xtreme 2 outclasses everything in terms of functionality, like being highly portable, waterproof with a high battery life, along with impressive captivating sound quality.

The same can be said about its predecessor, the first Xtreme, as well as the Charge 3 and previous generations. Few flaws are noted, but should be mentioned to avoid any unexpected disappointments. Number 1 is it is not backwards compatible using the Connect feature for multiple speaker pairings.

Anything not designated Connect+ will not pair together. Connect & Connect+ has been renamed PartyBoost on next generation JBL Bluetooth devices. Number two is not really a flaw in my opinion, but has been a complaint in other reviews.

AC mode has higher dynamic impact than battery mode. In other words, using it simply on battery power, it has less “umph” than being plugged in. It is a necessary evil to balance sound output with battery life, but not the deal breaker some have wrote about.

Other than that, i feel you’ll enjoy this speaker for many years as i have since 2019. Kind regards, The Speaker Freaker.

This really is a great speaker, and I suggest you read the many positive reviews from others, with whom I agree. I highly recommend it! However. The only instructions available anywhere is in the form of a Quick Start Guide (found in the box and online), but even that is sorely lacking in some very basic information about the features and how to use them.

But that’s it. There is no full User Manual. Anywhere. Period. To cite only one example: There isn’t even information in the Quick Start Guide about how to charge the unit, nor even a single mention of the Battery Indicator lights! In fact, while there are several diagrams showing the buttons and connections, and a chart that shows the different mode indicators, not one diagram even shows that there are, in fact, battery indicators lights! If you want any detailed information beyond what the pathetically sparse, and poorly designed Quick Start Guide provides, do not look to JBL or Harmon.

I can say that if you search online for specific operation info, you can find it from a number of different websites. But you will not find a User Manual explaining anything in more detail. I have owned a number of JBL products over 50+ years and have always been pleased with them.

But I have never seen anything like this from a company with such a great legacy. There is simply no excuse for any company to build a great product and not provide something as simple, inexpensive, and important as an actual User Manual.

Shameful.

I would strongly recommend anyone who is looking to buy this product to do there research and explore other options. I had purchased a JBL extreme speaker over a year ago with the hopes of bringing quality sound everywhere I wanted to go.

As great as the sound had been it is now useless to me do to the fact the battery can no longer hold a charge and it only works if is plugged in. After doing research it is a very common problem with the portable JBL products and as there customer support informed me it is cheaper to buy another speaker then have it repaired.

JBL (Harmon Audio) is fully aware of these issues and had even admitted to me over the phone that it is very common with these products. Because I had purchased this product past there one year warranty there is nothing they could do for me besides offer me a discount off there web page, which is exceptionally more expensive then where I had purchased the speaker originally.

I refuse to spend more of my hard earned money on a very expensive speaker that may or may not last longer then one year. So please rethink your purchase as this company knows the quality of there products and will not stand behind them.

I bought this April 2021. 1st issue was that it wouldn’t stay charged. Followed the directions before use…. got MAYBE 20 minutes of play time brand new. Contacted support and they sent a new battery, that fixed that issue.

Current issue after not even a year, speakers sound raspy and like they’re going out. This hasn’t been near water, or dropped. Main use was at the baseball fields. Poor quality for the price and how many features it says to have as protection.

I bought this speaker on a whim with the premise that if it didn’t as good as I wanted, it wouldn’t last. Well, right out of box, fully charged and sound quality is outstanding. Bass is pretty good for its size.

Sound is pretty balanced. Eq is lame but in bt mode, just change the eq setting on your phone and done. It gets loud. Almost very loud. The lights, wireless phone charging, bottle opener and many other features make this speaker way better than I expected for 200 bucks.

Can not speak to water proof as I didn’t buy it to throw it in the water. Highly recommend.

The speaker is decent. Being a sealed enclosure and the sub only being passive, Bass is not booming by any means. Does get loud and great for portable party music however this speaker is not waterproof by any means as stated in the description and the name.

I had mine laying on it’s back floating in the pool. Water got in and shorted out the board and speaker no longer worked. Return process is long before Academy will issue a refund. I do like the speaker otherwise and ordered a replacement.

Will be keeping it out of water this time though.

I just snatched the last one at the store. Took it to the beach last week and it has enormous sound. The waves were crashing and we’re loud but this beast speaker didn’t even need full power to be heard!!! Battery lasted the entire 4 hours we were there which was awesome.

I loved the clip, we clipped it to our umbrella which was a perfect spot. It’s so small and portable.

I was very impressed with the feature set that this speaker has. It is to bad that that the sound quality is so disappointing. Even at half volume the bass sounds distorted like the speaker is blown.

I own a few other JBL speakers and have never had the same sound quality issue. My JBL GO2 that I got for $20 on a Black Friday special sound way better.

Very worst product from the next day when I purchased I started facing turn on and charging problem, although it was in warranty he gave repaired one but the problem was remained same, Please trust me don’t purchase this product.

As an audiophile I’ve had some amazing equipment over the years. The pinnacle of our audio experience was a $4000 JL Audio system we had professionally installed on our boat with six 8” hi power marine speakers and a 10” 1000W woofer all driven by a 7-channel marine class amp.

Now of course there’s no way the Turtlebox speakers can beat that but… (and it’s a big but, I cannot lie): Two of these paired in stereo using the iPhones lossless streaming, iTunes spatial audio with Dolby Atmos and the EQ to tune the sound field – it results in some absolutely kick ass sound you will not believe and about as close to JL Audio as you can get without $4K worth of components.

I charged 2 of the white Gen-2 boxes up, powered on, paired in 4 seconds with a single push of a button, set them on our patio chairs about 30 feet away and 30 feet apart and… Then I had my wife come out holding her hand over her eyes, and proceeded to rock some Metalachi (yea, Google them.

You’ll love that band!). Then we played some classical, country, rock, acoustic… everything sounds utterly amazing on the iPhone “Rock” EQ setting. My wife thought for sure I’d gone and bought a new outdoor stereo system and couldn’t believe it when she saw the TurtleBoxes.

These things produce studio grade crystal clear sound with crisp highs, perfectly tuned vocals in balance with deep resonant lows, and simulate a really immersive stereo separation creating an unbelievable sound field.

I had read about these speakers for several months while researching a loud outdoor speaker. I previously used several JBL speakers of different sizes. The Turtlebox blows everything I’ve heard away! Suck loud and clear sound, from a speaker of this size? I am so glad I bought this! You get what you pay for.

Worth every penny. The box is SOLID, the case feels like a hardened plastic enclosure holding a brick wrapped in lead! That’s battery quality for you. Looking inside at the amazing speakers, you can see some nice quality in the material used.

It floats in the pool or river, just have 2 straps for redundancy or give a lucky river rat your nice Turtlebox. Lasts all day of Outdoor use easily, or several days of casual use. And you can use it as a very nice phone charger! Bluetooth intelligently picks up the last device, and I tested with 8 different bluetooth devices (dongles, laptops, and phones) and it picked up quickly and reliably, even with bluetooth chipsets that acted flaky with different bluetooth speakers.

The Turtlebox also is super durable, mine accidentally took a tumble several feet onto a patio deck, bouncing on the grill side, with no visible damage. Works reliably from silly distances across the yard.

I use a listening distance of at least 10 feet, pointed at me. And the handle color choices are nice options, be creative! I LOVE TURTLEBOX! I must get a second Turtlebox!.

At full retail, this is a very good value speaker. For the price I paid ($69. 99/free shipping) I think it’s the best speaker for the money you can find in the low/medium price range. If you’re looking for an audiophile quality speaker with deep resonant bass.

well, this isn’t it and you’ll not going to find one for less than $150, if not more. But considering the size and weight (tiny!), this box rocks. Bass is present and tight, but what you hear is the mids and highs, which are just terrific for this type of listening.

If you move back to 10′ or more, the sound is more balanced across the frequency range and it gets loud enough to hear it clearly in the next room. The other aspect of the Fugoo that puts it at the top of the heap in this category is battery life.

Manufacturer-claimed duration of 10 hours between charges may in fact be accurate. I also have an Auvio PBT1000, which sounds fantastic and offers deeper and quicker bass but is is more of console speaker and not small or lightweight enough to be a convenient travel piece and battery life is very limited.

As someone who travels a lot for both business and pleasure, the Fugoo is the perfect combination of sound quality, size and battery life and may be the best value of any compact Bluetooth speaker.

It’s pretty great for what I need it to do. I use it at work for our events and to paint my kitchen this weekend. I find it interesting that it’s clearer on one side than on the other and it does feel like I have to crank it up pretty high to hear it in a medium sized room.

Still, it performs the job well. I do love that it holds up to about 10 hours of playtime and the waterproof aspect is pretty great. Time will tell of its longevity. I am glad to see that your website has finally been updated.

I am only disappointed that it wasn’t when I purchased this product. I could get no individual statistics about the Style v the Sport and when I reached out to customer support, I got crickets. Step up your customer support game because right now, it’s the worst.

I recently purchased this speaker as an addition to my numerous Bluetooth arsenal to have something for the beach and for general travel, as it boasts 40 hours of play time. We used this on an inflatable on the water with some splashes here and there and the speaker withstood a full day on the beach.

However, we also used this speaker as a white noise machine at night. And after a full charge, we found we could not get even two full nights with the speaker on all night at about 75% volume. (I know this is not the 50% volume indicated in the 40hour battery live prediction, but 75% should make it at least 20 hours.

) Also, we had to turn the white noise volume down due to a slight staticky sound from the speaker at higher levels. It sounded like the Bluetooth was fading in and out instantaneously even though my phone was two-five feet away.

This was less noticeable at lower sound levels, but still there. I wish I had gotten this on Amazon, because of their hassle free return. 😕.

Bought these speakers for a Zone 2 option with my new Yamaha RX-A730 A/V receiver. The speakers are located in an outdoor patio in the Las Vegas area. I had some concerns about how they would last in the hot Summer temps but I was assured that high temps would not be a problem.

Installation was relatively easy. I would have prefered more mounting options. I had to install the speakers up & down. I would have prefered mounting them on their side to be able to rotate the speakers down.

Not a big deal. The sound is really great. These speakers are just what I needed for this application.

We purchased these speakers about 2 months ago and, once we had them installed, we ran them off of a bluetooth amp inside. We can now all use our phones to control our playlists etc. and never have to get up to change anything.

It’s nice being down at the pool and having music playing, or on the deck with friends and adjusting the volume/song etc or even playing videos youtube though the speakers. The sound quality is excellent for outdoor speakers.

I bought these to replace an older pair that had run their course. I read some on-line reviews about Yamaha outdoor speakers in general, and wanted something that was reasonably priced, not overly big and with good sound.

Well I got all three and am very satisfied with the purchase. I would recommend these to anyone. Also expected good quality and longevity with the Yamaha brand.

These speakers paired up together sound great and there is no echo between the two with clear sound between both speakers. I use them around the house constantly and have no complaints. I also use them while riding my UTV, and despite the loud noise from the UTV’s motor I can still hear the music I’m listening to pretty well.

The magnets are a great way to mount the speaker and are way stronger than I anticipated. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anybody!.

The clarity is amazing! I’ve played two rounds of golf. 9 plus hours and it’s still at 90% charged. The magnet feature is really cool. I put it on the golf cart metal surface and it goes nowhere. even if I hit some rough terrain.

I can put it on any metal surface in my garage. I cannot say enough good things. thank you Golf Subpar. I wouldn’t have known about the product without their mentioning it with their podcast.

I am very pleased with all Onn products. I hope I’m not in saying this but I think, so far, all of the Onn products are of high quality. I would not label Onn as an off brand. I hate to boast about a thing because than the company might want to raise the prices.

If you know what I mean. Like paying for something and walking out thinking your stealing something. I think their prices are very fair for all parties concerned. Believe me, when I go to the electronics department I’m looking for Onn products; with the exclusion of whether I can afford Sony, which I really can’t.

I have had a cheap JBL Bluetooth, waterproof speaker for a while now & have gotten a lot of use out of it so far. I was delighted to get a chance to try the Anker Soundcore Select 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker.

I already had the Anker software on both my iOS and Android phones. Unfortunately, they had sent me some instructions on making sure to update the firmware to the latest version but the software was not alerting me to this.

I contacted Anker support, stated what my issue was & they updated my ticket in no time with things for me to try. By the following night, when I could try the troubleshooting steps, I launched Soundcore to find the new speaker’s firmware update was indeed available to me now.

I performed the firmware update, which only took a few minutes, and I was playing around with the speaker doing some testing. Wow, just WOW! This little speaker packs a punch & seriously puts my JBL to shame.

My Android will do split audio so it will play to two seperate Bluetooth devices at once which I was lucky enough to have and play with for a bit so I could really hear the differences. The bass is deeper, the lows, mids & highs sound crystal clear, the vocals don’t sound washed out like with my JBL, it sounds truly amazing.

It was like I took an OEM speaker system out of my car and placed in a high end system-that is the difference this made. I am truly impressed. Even my sons, both of which love various types of music, played with the speaker for a while to test their luck with it.

Each want me to get them one. One thing I liked to do is listen to Podcasts and Audiobooks while I am laying in bed, sometimes I just don’t want to wear my AirPods and want to have it on my Bluetooth speaker & since switching to this Soundcore Select 2 I have been able to understand much more vs.

Its good quality through and through I work as a dish washer and water constantly gets on it without damaging it. EDIT: Okay I saw this review and I made this review back in 2018 and I am legit astounded by how long i’ve had this device now.

Nowadays I leave this device out in my car (Nobody steals it. ) and its basically just a car speaker for me. I have done this for a few years now and to this day 12/30/2021 it STILL works. Thats almost 4 years later.

The battery still charges, it still holds a charge for about 4 hours, and it still sounds amazing. If that is not proof this product is worth your money then I don’t know what is. Then again I do take very good care of my things.

Apart from leaving them out in a hot car. ^_^ The auxiliary cable built into the device however did break. Just normal wear and tear. The Bluetooth on the other hand still works.

This one i bought for my then 14 year old daughter, and it still works so i am really impressed because normally she will break it in 6 months. She found that if you used it outside with you phone the sound was softer (thank you JBL) and it was louder with het laptop.

But she was/is still happy with it. We bought the wireless earphones from the same brand and they are really good. Never paid much attention to this brand. But now i will do it more often. I really recommend this product and brand.

I really like the look and compact size of this speaker. The color is one of my favorites. Aside from aesthetics, the speaker provides great sound. My complaint is that it’s not as well manufactured as it looks.

As the hook part just came off and i never really used the hook so it’s not like I damaged it with over use, and even if i had used it all the time, thats what the hook is for, to hang the speaker. I am very disappointed that this broke so soon.

Customer service was very helpful with my questions about charging the speaker, the sound is clear even at higher volume, no fuzziness in the bass tones. Maria Callas’ voice was clear as a bell…this little speaker is a bargain, easier to use than my Bose speakers at home.

I bought these NS-AW150 all weather Yamaha speakers to replace an earlier Yamaha model purchased originally in 1998! The speakers which are placed on our covered back porch allow us to enjoy music, mostly classical and jazz, throughout our home and complement Klipsch AR 4 and Prism speakers in our living room and study respectively.

The original speakers were good; these speakers are great. They were easy to install, attractive and, most importantly, offer wonderfully rich fidelity with rich base and crisp treble tones. One admonition is that these speakers are oriented 90 degrees from the original, so if you wish to focus your sound you will need to mount them such that they can be rotated left to right rather than up to down.

I’ve owned these speakers for about 2 weeks, and have probably used them half-a-dozen times. I replaced an old set of Boston Acoustic speakers with theses Yamaha’s. The sound quality is better than the speakers they are replacing; and mounting them under the eaves as recommended does seem to make a difference in the bass output (due to house roofline one got mounted near eaves, the other didn’t).

While I would recommend them to friends, I have two gripes: 1) the grille of one of the speakers has already fallen off and appears to only be held on by a couple of dabs of glue. While this obviously doesn’t effect performance, I am disappointed that I am going to have to make a cosmetic repair on what are essential brand new speakers.

2) the speakers only can rotate in one direction depending on the mounting. Mine are mounted with the greater dimension being the width, so therefore they can swivel left or right, but not up and down.

In my application (on an elevated deck), it would be nice to have both fields of movement, but for the price it’s hard to complain.

I purchased 2 pairs of these speakers to replace very old and poor quality ones used for music and a microphone system in the club house of our ice arena. That being said, they will be used only indoors and bought them mainly for the attachment system.

They are surprisingly heavy and seem well built. I think the design shape is a bit odd. They use a convex design curving away from the wall that leaves a large void in back. I mounted them horizontally, as I thought it looked better, but the screen logo does not change directions so it is tipped sideways, which is no big deal.

They install very easy and quickly either direction. They are connected to a 200 watt (100 x2) receiver. I am not a sound expert but am pleased with the results so far. Admittedly, our room has poor acoustics, but the speakers sound better at higher volumes.

They lack some bass at low volumes but crank it out well with higher levels. Overall I think they will serve our needs very well. They were competitively priced versus other speakers with woofers of this size and brand recognition.

I did 4 stars because I never rate anything as perfect. I would do 4. 5 if the option was there.

This speaker is amazing hands down! I was debating between this one and the Bose Soundlink Mini II as they are both around the same price point and I am glad I went with FUGOO. I love how it tells you battery status with the push of a button and makes it easy to switch between connected/paired devices also with one button press.

One of the big benefits are the jacket accessories! They have one to fit any taste, style or mood. The core of the speaker was such a neat concept. It can be rugged, sporty, stylish or tough! Sound quality is also amazing! The core produces 360 degree sound which fills the room at about half volume! Highly pleased with this speaker and would recommend FUGOO over any competitor.

I liked this speaker, the sound is clear with good deep bass ( relative to it’s size). The sound doesn’t get distorted even when max volume, it’s not extremely loud, well expected to the size of the speaker.

Portabilty and good quality sound it’s forte. I overall material are plastic, but it has a feel of premium speaker.

Fantastic sound for such a small package. I’ve owned another Monster speaker and have nothing but great things to say about that one. I was a bit disappointed that this one only has one button. No volume control.

BUT the problem is that it won’t stay powered on when connected via Bluetooth. After a few minutes it shuts down. I’ve let it charge overnight twice and it still shuts itself off after just a few minutes of playing.

Very disappointed. Hoping to contact the manufacturer to resolve the issue. Hopefully it’s just a problem with this individual speaker. I still have faith in Monster products.

After already owning the smaller Monster Superstar speaker and thoroughly enjoying it , I wanted one for my boat that I wouldn’t have to worry about it getting wet. I just received it in the mail brought it inside and opened it up.

Turned it on and easily paired it up with my phone and had to try it in some water ! Filled up my kitchen sink and while on I completely submerged the speaker under the water. To my surprise you can still hear it under the water !! Once I let it float up on top of the water it shoots the water out of the speakers and has great sound !! This speaker for the money I think is a awesome deal.

If you have any doubts about it’s sound and quality, don’t it’s a good little speaker ! My nephew and I have done the distance range test and it keeps a good clear signal to about 90 ft if you try it outside.

This little bluetooth speaker is a solid unit with great sound. The compact size is practical and convenient. Good bass levels. Lots of volume that doesn’t distort over the full range. Non-slip neoprene skin is perfect for listening when out and about – especially on the boat.

Connects easily through the bluetooth. Good battery life. Overall, I like this unit. Have looked and seen others more expensive but none seemed as useful as this.

This speaker is pleasantly small and yet has more than adequate volume for a small to medium size space. The balanced eq setting provides a very clear sound with no distortion even at higher volumes.

The bass is lacking even in the bass boost setting. This is probably due to the size factor and there being very little space for drivers or a resonance chamber. I would say it easily outperforms other speakers of this size for sound quality and overall fit and finish.

It has great battery life and served me well over the thanksgiving holiday where I had it on playing Christmas music throughout the day. The feet are magnetic as well which allows you to attach it to any metal or magnetic surface.

All around would most definitely recommend it over any similarly priced speakers and would argue it more than competes with any speaker it’s size.

Music is my life, i have tiniest and anexity so i constantly have my buds in as a comfort! Over the years I’ve lost and washed a few pairs but ALWAYS replace them with Raycons! Even had to get my 83yr old mother a pair to listen to her books bc i bragged about them so much! Amazing prices for the quality and i just recently got the speaker and love that at the beach! Battery life is amazing, self charging case is the best feature in my oppinion! I can work, run, cook and mom and they stay in place! I am a big fan of koss products. In terms of sound quality, Koss never falls short. But the battery life is not the best. Furthermore, the “”battery low”” signal is intrusive and a bit too frequent(other speakers only play the battery low signal when audio is not being played through the speaker).

This makes the speaker unusable until its put back on charge. Some times the bluetooth connection isn’t the best. Still, overall, I’d recommend this product due to it’s price, quality sound, and portability.

The Koss BTS1 is hands down the best speaker at this size. The sound is clear and distortion-free. The vocals and music is amazing. Excellent highs and mid-range. And the bass for this size speaker is adequate, especially when listening in a small room.

Place the speaker in front of you and listen to your favorite music and you will be amazed. Koss hits another home run! Five stars!.

Koss makes some great products, but this one did not impress. First the construction is awful. The silicone edge on the backside is glued on, and not very well at all. It started peeling within a few days of minimal use.

Any attempts to reseat the silicone was futile. Now, after only a few months of very light use, the micro USB charge port has unseated, and was pushed inside the device. This is problematic for several reasons, the first and most obvious being you can no longer charge the device, which has pretty bad battery life to begin with.

Secondly there is no way to open up this device and reconnect the USB charge port, so this is now a $40 paperweight that looks like a speaker. As far as the sound goes, I wasn’t expecting much from a portable Bluetooth speaker to begin with, but I found the sound to be tinny and a bit hollow.

It was loud enough to fill a room, but at max volume on the speaker and my phone there was times it would clip. I’m not sure if it was certain instruments or frequencies, but it happened infrequently and was usually treble elements of the song.

Overall I wasn’t impressed by the sound. Between the cheap construction, poor battery life, and mediocre sound I cannot recommend this product.

Recently received this Flip 6 and I can say that it’s a fantastic speaker. I also own a Flip 4 and I can say that the sound quality and the overall look/aesthetic of the Flip 6 is improved. Upon unboxing, the charge cycle went pretty quickly to get it to 100%.

Pairing was a breeze, just hit the bluetooth button, my device found the speaker VERY quickly and I was up and running. I like the look of the side reflex/bass/whatever ports better than previous speakers, they seem more sealed off and resistant to water intrusion or accidental spills getting in and ruining the unit.

Sound is improved over the Flip 4 in that it feels like a “wider” sound and has way more bass response. Bigger, fuller sound whether it’s a YouTube video, podcast or music. I like the redesigned logo on the front, the old JBL badge was kinda dated and this redesign looks much better in my opinion.

I my unit is the black color, can’t speak for the other color variations as I haven’t seen them in person. Size is pretty much the same so making this portable but loud is right on the money. I love this thing and it has a permanent place on my counter for use with my phone and my laptop.

I use a wheelchair because of a car accident, and play music as I “drive” my chair for two reasons: First, I always had music going in my car. If my chair is to be my car now, I still want music. Second, I got hit by a driver in San Antonio.

They weren’t looking. Texas drivers are an especially wild breed. Crisp, clear music played reasonably loud as I go down the street provides increased visibility, so I’m safer. I’ve had several people ask, “Is that great sound coming from that little speaker?” The loop is great for hanging on a bracket–no muss, no fuss, no one stealing my speaker.

I also use my Flip 5 whenever I workout in the pool. Once, my husband and I were dancing in the pool (it’s the only place I’m able to dance now) with the speaker playing, and I looked around. Every other couple in the pool had begun dancing, and a couple was dancing on the sidewalk! I do wish it didn’t distort when I play it at top volume, but hopefully JBL will fix that.

The charge life is great. My Flip 5 plays for 10-14 hours on a charge. I love not having to worry about getting caught in a Texas storm because it’s waterproof.

I’ve been a big fan of the Flip series since the first model, which was eventually upgraded to a Flip 4. Now I have the Flip 6 and I’m simply amazed at the performance. The Flip 6 is a tiny bit larger than it’s older brother, and there have been some really nice cosmetic changes.

Mine is black, and the JBL logo that’s replaced the smaller badge is the same color as the speaker, with an orange highlight behind. It looks great. The controls are essentially the same, but the 6 is missing the auxiliary in port and charges with USB-C.

So the 4 and the 6 may look like family (from what I’ve seen the 6 has more in common with the Flip 5) but that’s where it ends. Bluetooth has been upgraded to version 5. 1, increasing range and reception.

Every JBL product I own, from headphones to my Flips, connect to my phone automatically, and this one is no exception. JBL added a tweeter under the covers, bringing forth a whole new sound experience.

I really enjoyed the sound of my first Flip, liked my Flip 4 even more, but the addition of the tweeter cleans up the mids and brings a tightness to the music that just wasn’t present with the single driver.

The dual passive radiators really extend the soundstage, making all kinds of music sound wonderful. JBL also added a three-band EQ that can be accessed via the JBL Portable app. It allows you to tailor your sound a little bit, such as boosting bass at low levels or dropping the highs at louder volume.

I found this very useful. Battery life is exceptional, falling just under the specified 12-hours for me. I really like the white LED on the unit to tell what the battery charge status is. There’s also the PartyBoost button that can link the Flip 6 to other compatible PartyBoost speakers so you can set up a stereo pair.

I don’t have another so I didn’t get to test this. Water and dust ratings have been upgraded, though I’m not going to dunk mine for a review. The Flip 6 is now rated IPX67, meaning it can resist being underwater for up to 30 minutes.

This will definitely be a good beach speaker. Also, for those using it in the woodshop it’s completely dustproof. When it comes to music, I was thrilled. This little speaker packs a big punch. Sound is tight, full, and focused, mainly due to the addition of the tweeter.

It’ll play as loud as you need it to, and it’ll play for a long time. I played several of my “speaker test” tracks and was never disappointed. Michael Jackson’s Beat It was incredible, and Dire Straits’ Money for Nothing was super tight with fantastic clarity.

The EQ helped, but I would have been happy with the performance “out of the box. ” The bottom line for me is simple: I think this is one of the best portable speakers JBL has put out to date. Highly Recommended.
