20 Best Sonicare Brush Head For Receding Gums (2023 Updated)

First, would like to say that the brush heads pictured are not the same as the ones I received with my free toothbrush sample kit. My brush heads were very small, basic white brushes without any other bells and whistles.

Overall, I found this product to be very well made and I enjoyed trying it out. I should mention that I received this product in exchange for an honest review. The product feels substantial — heavy-ish without being too cumbersome, though other electric toothbrushes I have used have been a little easier to handle based on a bit more grip of the materials, whereas this one feels very smooth with the base feeling a bit heavier and thus, it is more prone to sliding out of my hand while using.

I should also mention that I have rheumatoid arthritis, and thus, my grip is undoubtedly weaker than that of an average adult human. My main issue is with the toothbrush head itself — it is much smaller than the competitor`s version which I have used for many years.

That took some getting used to, and, to be honest, there are things that I enjoy about the smaller surface space of this brush head — it seems to get in between teeth better than the rounder/larger brush head I`m accustomed to, which I definitely appreciate.

However, the smaller head feels like it doesn`t quite clean as well as larger heads I`m used to. The surface area is too small, and thus, I feel like I have to go over the same spots multiple times to be sure that I`ve hit all the parts of all the teeth and gums.

I may or may not buy this product if I saw it in stores. I will continue using it, but am likely to go back to the old competitor brand.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I have been using a different brand of an electric toothbrush for the past several years. It was a traditional round head with a circular motion, so I was very excited to see how the 5100 Sonicare Brushhead compared.

I am an avid brusher, 2-3 times per day. This toothbrush completed exceeded by expectations. The brushhead on the Phillips was more oval in nature and operates in a back and forth motion rather than circular.

I have extremely sensitive gums and teeth, so this is the only part that took a bit of getting used to. Overall, I love the toothbrush and the cleanliness I feel after using it. What does it do well and what is my favorite feature? The back and forth motion is a nice change from the traditional circular motion.

The brush vibrates fairly hard doing most of the scrubbing for you. The three functions (gum care, white, and clean) offer variable brush times depending on which one is selected; the three options do not offer a noticeable vibration variance.

My favorite feature is the buzz indicator which lets you know when it’s time to switch quadrants in your mouth. The brush is also extremely quiet while using. Assembly/Storage: Like other electric toothbrushes, simply attach the removable head and let it charge.

The toothbrush comes with a travel case, head cover and base. The biggest adjustment for me is getting used to the moving head. Traditionally, I’ve used electric brushes where only the bristles move.

This the 5100 Sonicare, the entire brush head moves. I am constantly banging the hard end against the opposite teeth of which I’m brushing. The main adjustment I’ve had to make was keeping my mouth open wider while brushing.

Overall, I love the brush and would recommend it to anyone who’s been using a round style electric brush. I feel like the motion/movement of this brand gives a much deeper clean in a shorter period of time.

I have purchased different electrical toothbrushes in the past, so I was a bit skeptical when I was asked to review this product. I did receive this toothbrush free of charge but that has nothing to do with my review.

This is a clear and honest review. Packaging was simple and not a hassle to unpack and the charging base is small and simple. The toothbrush comes semi-charged, so you are able to use it right out of the box.

The handle is light weight and fits comfortably in my hand during use. The toothbrush part I was a bit concerned about because it looks small compared to other brushes, but this did not impact the cleaning ability.

I love that the brush part come with a cap and also a cool travel case. Now for the use. I have to say I have never had an electric toothbrush clean my teeth as well as the Protective Clean 5100. I love that it has 3 different cleaning options; Clean, White and Gum care.

All the modes have different sonic vibrations and felt differently. I am very impressed on how clean my teeth feel afterwards as well. The only thing, which I wouldn’t consider a con, is that it takes a bit to get use to the vibrations and how to keep toothpaste and drool from flying out of your mouth.

You definitely need to keep your mouth closed until you get use to it. I have cleaned my mirror more than I want to admit 😉 Another feature that I love is the timer. The handle buzzes when 30 secs are up in mode.

You can reach a full 2 mins of recommended brushing with ease and my teeth feel super clean. I am in love with this toothbrush and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great electric toothbrush.

I have used Philips Sonicare for almost 14 years and they are extremely well made and does a great job of keeping my teeth white and healthy. I wouldn’t use anything else. My dentist recommended it in February of 2008 and that Sonicare just around January and only because I had dropped it for the fifth or six time and this drop was bad.

It still works, but doesn’t have as much force and since it was 13 years old, it was time to replace it. This C2 has done a great job of removing plaque and keeping my teeth white. I’m surprised by the negative reviews.

It seemed to be built around how long the brush last and not performance. I’ve never followed the replacement recommendation, so I’ve had mine since January of this year with no problems and the performance is excellent.

One reviewer said the brush was too soft. This C2 was so powerful for me that I initially thought that I might have to return it because it actually hurt. I just kept with it and got use to it, but it really does remove plaque.

It’s a great product, quality and performance. the only toothbrush I will ever use! I would recommend it.

These work great. I’ve been a Philips Sonicare tooth brush user for over ten years and the system has done wonders for my gums and teeth. As others have commented on here and other websites, buying ‘off’ brand replacement heads don’t tend to hold up as well.

I’ve tried buying ‘other’ replacement heads for my Sonicare and the bristles have frayed or the head just didn’t last its full three or so months. Reminds me of buying off brand ink cartridge replacements.

I tried saving money for my Epson printer last year. buying non-Epson replacement ink. totally screwed up my printer and now even buying certified Epson ink doesn’t even work. My point is, if you’re going to pony up the money for a nice tooth brush like your Philips Sonicare (whatever specific brush you have), buy the right replacement heads.

Finally, I love that BB offers Member pricing on these for a discounted rate. I’ll continue to replenish our stash of replacement heads as long as BB keeps offering this promoted price.

I loved the customer support. The sonicare was bought after my dentist said was the one he used. I love the small brush head, it makes it easier to reach all my teeth front and back. The vibrations do help dislodge stuff from between your teeth even after flossing.

The setting that starts the vibration gentler was great because before I used the round headed oral b. With that being said, I prefer the sonicare much more than the oral b.

I do not give out 5 star reviews often; despite the comparatively high cost for two brush heads, I thought that if they last 2 – 3 months, it is not overly expensive, and what the heck. The head looks fancy, but I suspected it would just give a standard clean.

I was wrong. I enjoyed brushing with this head – it was just firm enough, but not aggravating on my gums. After the two minutes was up, my teeth felt cleaner than with any other brush head I have tried.

I really love these brush heads. I have used several varieties of Sonic care brush heads, diamond clean originally and then I switched to premium gum care because I liked them better. I saw these and thought I’d try them.

Glad I did! I actually like them better than my previous favorite. They are bigger so they cover more space and feel more like a regular toothbrush in that sense. My teeth always feel clean no matter what Sonic care brush head I use.

These gentle or sensitive brushes are not made to guarantee remove 7, 8 or 10X the plaque that manual brushing does. They are made to perform excellent cleaning and certainly better than manual brushing.

That said, however, for those with very sensitive teeth these are the brushes needed to clean the teeth without causing pain from tooth sensitivity which can very painful. However, there is another good reason to use these brushes as in my case.

I was taking 60mg OxyContin for chronic pain from neck to knee for CTTH, four herniated discs, and chronic arthritis all through my body. The pain was excruciating. Unfortunately, nodoctor warned me that one of the side effects of OC was and is dry mouth.

After years of going to the dentist only to have them cleaned and being told I had the strongest teeth of anyone they ever treated, and never had any treatment on my teeth since I was 13 for a few teen cavities and later replacing amalgam for gold, going to the dentist was rather boring.

But then, after two years of taking OC, I learned that I had developed cavities along the gum line some highly progressed and some very new. Unfortunately, I had skipped one of my six-month visits to the dentist and that proved “fatal” for it was during that one year period when the development of the cavities started.

Two Molars had to be removed by an oral surgeon, and 19 other teeth had large to minimum gum line cavities. Today, I take Pilocarpine to help keep saliva flowing which is what stopped and caused the cavities to form in the first place.

My fillings along the gum line are Fuji and are not hard metal but are of medium hardness and a hard bristle brush head such as the DiamondClean or even worse, the Adaptive Clean used on a Polish or Deep Clean setting would wear away the fillings.

Ergo, the gentle or sensitive brush heads on Sensitive setting are the best for my teeth. No, it won’t remove 10X the plaque of manual brushing, but since I brush after eating anything and floss after the same, these brush heads are excellent for me and for those with special needs or sensitive teeth.

I used Sonicare for many years with the compact size brush heads. Since they no longer make that size, I had to buy the standard size. I first got the medium bristles but that was horribly hard on my gums.

I am at the point to switch to Oral-B because the standard size brush head is too big for me, I can’t reach in the back of my mouth, it’s messier – splatter all over my mirror, and my dentist also said they don’t recommend Sonicare anymore because of these issues but instead recommend Oral-B.

Seems to me Sonicare is going to lose customers over this. The brush head quality and sensitive bristles are very good, just too big!.

The cost of these genuine Philips Sonicare brush heads is high, but, the quality of them is equally high. I’ve purchased copycat brush heads from several different companies as they are about 1/3 the price of the genuine article.

I’ve been sorely disappointed in the knock-off brush heads. The genuine article has its rows of bristles are different heights, the tallest bristles in the center. This gives the best cleaning action as proven by dental checkups.

This is clearly a good case for: “you get what you pay for”.

Brushes easily installed on my Sonicare toothbrush. My dry mouth and sensitive gum issues required a different brush head. With this 4 pack, I can change the brush every 3 months. Bristles are soft yet thoroughly clean my teeth and gums.

And I was able to use some reward points toward the purchase. What a great deal!.

These are refills to the worst toothbrush I have ever owned. Don’t buy it. You can’t even hold the handle because the vibration is so uncomfortable. It’s hard to explain, just trust me, it’s very uncomfortable.

Don’t waste your money. I used mine not even a full session of brushing my teeth and it’s been sitting in my cupboard. I haven’t thrown it away yet because I paid so much for it. I might just take off the head I used and give it to someone with the refill of the heads and they can throw it away!.

I have to say I do like being able to purchase these brush heads from BBY. I purchased the actual electric brush from Kohl’s department stores and they don’t even carry the brush heads–plus BBY is easier to get to.

I have gum recession and find these heads to be great. I have to use it on the lowest vibration setting though. Heads will last you 180 brushing sessions (90 days at 2x use a day). The only downside is I want a UV sanitation box for the heads.

Philips does NOT make one to sanitize these types of heads.

My dentist recommended a Sonicare toothbrush some years ago and my wife and I have used them (I think we’re on our second one). Obviously the brush heads need to be replaced on a regular basis and there are a number of options.

There ARE generic model brush heads that are supposed to be compatible with the Sonicare models, though we found one package would not fit, despite the advertising on the box, so we’ve stuck with the name brand brushes, buying them on sale or using Rewards points with my Best Buy account to keep the cost down.

We’ve found this particular model to work well for us, the texture and level of firmness working well on the Sonicare handle and with our teeth. It is always helpful to have the wear indicators on the brush heads as well to tell us when to replace things.

Appear expensive on the surface but then you realise they each last 3 months so not too bad for a year’s supply. Fit as described and sync with toothbrush body. The one downside is they have changed the plastic cover that goes over the bristles when not in use, I’ve previously used the C2 heads (non premium version of these) and they had a plastic cover that fitted closer, was less fiddly and didn’t fall off.

These feel marginally better than the C2 heads but that may just be because I was replacing a three month old C2 with a new C3. Feels clean and fresh afterwards. Brush head is bigger than C2 and can be a bit tricky at the back of the jaw when trying not to get the plastic bit on the other teeth (very powerful sonic vibration).

Overall does what it describes and pretty happy with them, hard to notice a massive improvement over C2 though.

I bought the toothbrush a few months ago and it came with just 2 brush heads. These replacements were exactly the same brush heads that came with the toothbrush so I know I like them. Unlike my previous Oral B electric toothbrush the Philips Sonicare brush heads came with brush covers, and also the replacements each has a cover.

I just hope the rechargeable battery lasts more than my old Oral B. I haven’t replaced my first brush head yet, but I thought I’d get the replacements while they’re on sale because they’re not really cheap.

I gave 4 stars mostly because I’ve had this product before and it serves its purpose well. This time is slightly different. I work an overnight shift, which was the reason for my online purchase. I sleep during normal daylight hours.

Cool thing is porch robbers have been watching deliveries in my neighborhood and were kind enough to pick up my package. So you’ll have to ask THEM how they like these replacement brushes and the other items I need that were in that package.

Not Best Buy’s fault (I’ve had great experiences over the years). No issues with the products (as someone else took them before I could get them). Hope the porch robbers are happy though because now I have to take time off from work (again I work the overnight shift) to be able to physically go into the store.

I had inquired to make sure these toothbrushes were OEM and not knock off. 2 days later after not hearing back I bit the bullet and ordered. The package came fast, but the tooth brush packaging was slightly opened on one side.

Enough that someone could potentially contaminate a brush and unsuspectingly put it back in. Working in the food packaging industry, I find this a potential health concern, especially since this is something you are putting in your mouth.

All tooth brushes in packaging did have protectant caps on the bristles. Overall, the brushes seem to be working well and the bristles seem to be strong. Still not sure if these are OEM.

I have been using Phillips Sonicare for going on 10 years now. I won’t use a manual toothbrush again. They don’t get my teeth clean enough. The replacement toothbrush heads do the job and do it exceptionally well.

They keep my gums healthy, plaque on my teeth very very low, and my teeth white. My mouth feels dentist clean every morning after I brush.

Have been using my sonicare toothbrush for many years with good results. Replaced my proresults brushheads with these 3 weeks ago and they are much too harsh. My lower gums at the back on both sides are incredibly sore and swollen.

I have had to switch to a soft manual toothbrush in the hopes that my gums will settle down. Treating the soreness with bonjela. Will go back to the original brushheads hopefully in the future. Won’t buy these again.

I made the mistake of buying off-brand replacement toothbrush heads once and will never do it again. These last so much longer, the bristles do not fray or fall out. Overall the best choice as far as quality and how long they last.

Even though they are expensive you absolutely get your money’s worth based.

I have to say they are pretty good. The bristles are not too hard and not too soft but just right. These brush heads do a fantastic job of keeping your pearly whites nice and clean. I think Philips Sonicare products are probably the best teeth cleaning devices you can get short of actually going to a dentist.

They do a great job of leaving your teeth feeling clean. I always look after my teeth and I visit the hygienist at least twice a year, but I notice a difference in cleanliness and whiteness in just a few weeks of using these toothbrushes.

I have repurchased this several times and can not say enough good things. It’s easy to change the sonicare head out and use right away. The only down side is if you don’t wipe the base of the brush down hard water or something accumulated under the head of the brush.

It reaches easily to all parts of the mouth and really cleans deeply in between each tooth. My teeth feel dentist-clean after brushing, it really has made a difference to my plaque build up and I like the fact that it has medium bristles.

The click on attachment means that changing the brush head is no issue. All in all, this is a fantastic brush head to use with your Sonicare toothbrush.

I found these brush heads to perfectly adapt to the shape of my gums and teeth. My teeth felt much smoother after prolonged use with these brush heads. The bristles were soft enough to not damage the gums but they were firm enough to thoroughly remove all dirt and debris from gums and teeth.

The brush heads clipped perfectly onto the brush and felt secure. Further to this the colours of the brush heads were very nice. Overall I believe these brush heads were perfect for targeting gum health but also did a great job of cleaning the teeth.

Very nice Brush-heads, the bristles seem quite stiff but somehow they are gentle on my gums which is important to me. After use, my teeth feel very clean and healthy. The brush heads fit very securely onto the handle and are a nice size for my mouth, it is nice cleaning my teeth with these brush heads, I feel like they are really taking care of my teeth with a professional clean.

The sonicare sensitive teeth replacement toothbrush is perfect for me since I have sensitivity due to gum recession. Although the replacement heads are somewhat pricey, they fit the handles perfectly and work really well in cleaning the tooth area.

My teeth felt smooth and looked sparkling as if I just had them cleaned by the dental hygienist. The slim shape contoured to my left hand easily and made the hold comfortable. In addition, I found the light blue color of the brush to be very appealing to the eye.

The configuration of the bristles fit perfectly around each tooth as it cleaned my teeth. Another plus, is that a small amount of toothpaste is all that is required for each brushing. The Sonicare was extremely easy to assemble and I was thrilled it was charged and ready to go to work straight out of the box! It offers three different options: clean, white, and gum care.

I would think over time it would get dirty and require cleaning. In addition, can you use the Sonicare toothbrush if you have a bridge? The only improvement I would like to see is being able to use the same toothbrush head for all three cycles.

I just recently switched to an electric toothbrush, so at first the simpler, softer bristles had me concerned. On the device they are perfect. My only qualm is that after brushing when capped with the plastic cover they seem to stay wet rather than drying out causing an odor.

Luckily this version has UV light attachments to cleanse the head.

I have had my Sonicare toothbrush for a couple of years now and I would never go back to a non-electric toothbrush. The heads are equally as important and as expected, these 4 replacement brush heads are of the same high quality as the brush itself.

Guidelines state that heads should be replaced every month and these have a line of blue bristles which fade to white to let you know when the brush requires to be replaced. I am still on my first head so can’t comment on this visually but it is a great concept.

To attach the head, you simply push on to the toothbrush and you are ready to go. The contour of the brush heads actually feels like they are made to measure which feels very comfortable. I have never experience such a fit with a toothbrush head before and this is easily my favourite feature.

The brush is a medium hardness and regardless of the program used with the toothbrush, my teeth feel very clean at the end of each brush. Each head in the pack comes with its own plastic cover which is excellent for hygiene purposes as my brush sits on display in its charger glass.

What can I say about a brush head for an electronic toothbrush? I’ll start by saying that I received it to try out for this review. This particular head has two things that were new to my electric tooth brushing world — I’ve been using one for several years up until a few months ago when if got lost in a cross country move.

First, this brush head has a chip in it and the toothbrush can read information on how long it’s been there and how long it has been held against your teeth with too much pressure. through some algorithm, it decides when it’s past its “ideal” brushing state and causes a notification to light up on the toothbrush.

Since I haven’t gotten to that point yet, I can’t comment on what happens when it signals that it’s done. I’m hoping that it keeps on brushing but just let’s you know that it wants to be replaced. I like that it keeps track for me since I know that I will overuse my toothbrushes/brush heads otherwise.

Second, this brush head, the C2 Plaque Control Brush Head, apparently is better at removing plaque. I don’t know how much of that is marketing spin, but I can say that my teeth feel and look cleaner after brushing than they did when I used a regular brush over the last few months.

I also have own a sonicare diamond electric toothbrush. The heads for that one are stupid expensive. These C2 plaque control heads are cheaper. The head part that holds the bristles is also to a bit smaller, compared to most regular toothbrush heads, which I like.

I find these electric tooth brush heads to be easier to get into the back areas of my mouth and since you don’t actually brush — you let the rotating bristles do the work — it does a much better job than I could do on my own otherwise.

I have been using Phillips Sonicare for several years. I have had no issues with oral care since I started using this system. No cavities, no excessive plaque. I only wish I had started using earlier instead of expensive fluoride treatments, flossing with water, and other remedies that did not deliver the results this system does.

The brushes do a great job. Glad they are available at Best Buy.
