I am a professional dog groomer and absolutely love this slicker. While it is double the price on this site than the one I used to be able to purchase it from I feel it is still worth it. I love the ergonomic handle.

As a professional it helps reduce hand fatigue as I am fluff/line drying. It also is excellent for dematting. The pins hold up fairly well for the price point. This slicker in my opinion is much better than some popular ones that are 5 times the price.

I always get the medium size because I feel it is the best for most dogs and the easiest on my hands. I prefer the harder one to the soft one for mat removal.

Exactly the right sized head, easy to hold, easy to remove hair from brush. My cats love the feel of this; the wires are thin and the tips are angled, they don’t scrape. Works equally well for my long hair and short haired cats.

Easy to work around their faces with this brush. No more bumping them with the clunky dog brush they shared with my dogs.

I have been looking for a slicker brush that is small enough and soft enough for my very spoiled and sensitive Miniature Schnauzer. This is it! She does not fight me when I use this brush but it is still stiff enough to keep her coat great.

I like the size because I can easily brush inside her legs, under her chin, and her face. I am going to order another with my next auto ship as a backup.

I work in a grooming salon and almost every single one of us has this brush! It is amazing at brushing tangles out of any hair type and it fluffs up poodle/doodle hair perfectly. The quality of this brush is on par with the CC coral brush.

This brush really hurt my hound and lab retriever dog. He hates it so much. I used treats, but he would run away. I tried the brush on my arm and scalp and yes, it really hurts. It is also extremely hard to clean.

If you are looking for a good dog brush, google “best dog brushes”. I found “Pet Neat Pet Brush” and I love it. Remi will let me brush now and he seems to enjoy it. It is also super easy to clean!.

About a year and a half ago, I had to have my 20-year-old cat shaved because her fur had become so matted. Bad cat caregiver me, I didn’t understand that she wasn’t able to groom herself as she used to, and since she had always hated for me to groom her, I didn’t realize what was happening with her undercoat until it was too late.

Her fur is short but soft and luxurious, almost like a rabbit’s—at least until it developed all these deranged tufts. Nothing worked to detangle it, and the vet felt shaving was the best option. Since then, she has seemed to enjoy having me groom her—I guess she finally got the point.

As her fur was first growing back, I used a very soft baby’s hairbrush made of goat hair, but once her fur got thicker, it started tufting again. This brush, used gently, completely resolves the issue.

And the mechanism for pressing out the collected hair is absolute magic! I use the soft brush for soothing daily grooming, but I am amazed at how effective this slicker brush is. I have rarely been so delighted at the efficacy of any product.

I have a Ragdoll cat and many who know the breed *know* that they have a thick, super fluffy long coat that needs regular maintenance despite having a cat that grooms well. I had another slicker brush that had the little dots on the tips- I bought that one thinking it would be gentler than this type- turns out I was wrong.

My guy hated that one. But this one! He loves it! I pull it out and he paws at me to hurry up and start brushing him!! He loves rubbing his face on it and having his chin and neck brushed with it the most.

And he tolerates and even enjoys (if his rolling over and loud purring is any indicator) having the rest of his body brushed now too, thanks to this brush. I love that it has a “cleaning” mechanism too.

Makes it convenient for me so this bad boy is a double whammy. I’ve had it for months now and it’s held up well and does a good job at really working through the coat whilst being gentle on their skin and ensuring there are no tangles/matts & also pulling away loose hair.

Nice tool! My kitter friend loves it! Although she loves being brushed and combed in general, I have been using a regular comb and hair brush. at times a fork of all things to gently “scratch” her. The ones I was using did not fully grab that fine undercoat of her short fur; however, this does the trick and really does a good job.

This brush is a good design that is very easy to clean by push of a button. I never thought I would get that much fur from her short coat. It appears to satisfy the gentle scratching she likes with more coverage.

I noticed this slicker helped release little bits of dander as I brushed it all down to the nap of her tail end to collect it/wipe it off with a warm wet wash cloth. Her response is elevated from the usual love to a total gush, purrs and all.

almost to the point of overstimulation – she rubs all over it and gets engaged in the action and will even play and love bite it.

Now That Foster and Smith is gone, I had no way to get a replacement for the round-headed, ergonomic-handled soft slicker brushes they used to provide. I therefore ordered three different slickers from Chewy.

This was one. The others were the “ConairPRO Dog Slicker Soft Brush” and the “Master Grooming Tools Double Flexible Dog & Cat Slicker Brush, Extra Firm. ” This Hartz brush was the one I like best. The wires are tipped enough to be fairly gentle on the skin, but not so thoroughly tipped that they don’t grab the hair properly.

The Conair tool is okay, but plainly meant solely for fur that is clean, untangled, and medium length rather than long. It does not grab the fur or pull out dead hair. It is also tiny. It would be super-gentle, though, no question about that.

It’s really too gentle to do a good job on a Cavalier that’s been running around outside. The small-medium size of the Hartz brush is convenient for most areas of the dogs — Cavaliers are small — but it is more effective than the Conair brush at getting tangles and burrs out of a coat that is in decent shape, but where the dog has been running around outside.

For basic coat care, this brush is going to be the one I reach for the most. The big rectangular double-sided brush is also useful for ears and body of the dogs. It’s probably going to be better for quickly removing dead hair when a dog is blowing her coat.

The wires aren’t too rough and my dogs seem to tolerate it well. I’m reasonably pleased with all three brushes, but I’m going to get an extra — two extra — of this Hartz brush. I want one to keep in my show bag and one to keep in the car — and when one wears out, I’m going to want another.

Master Grooming Tools Double Flexible Dog & Cat Slicker Brush, Extra Firm.

Got this to replace another brush that was getting on in years. This looked to be similar, so I took a chance. It works really well on my medium hair cat, but her long haired sister not so much. I don’t know if it’s the rubber or what, but it pulls her fur as soon as I try to brush her.

She no longer likes to be brushed as a consequence. It gets 3 stars because I am still able to use it one of the cats.

I love the fact that the tips are not Sharp and I can comb my dogs without injuring their skin. Very easy to clean, also does a very nice job of removing tangles without ripping out hair. I have tree sap to deal with, so happy to have a good detangler.

Happy this brush keeps the loose hair cleaned out of their long coats. The dogs never complain when I brush them now, great style of brush, don’t need pressure to make it work. I have a short haired dog I can not use this on very often, so I bought a boar bristle brush for her.

Handle is comfortable. Tines are sturdy and longer than on a previous smaller brush. Works very easily and effectively on our Great Pyrenees. She likes it! Her fur is so thick that it fills up the brush rather quickly, so no problem to remove the fur from the brush– and no need to get a self-cleaning brush that could break more easily.

Ordered this to replace an older slicker that was deteriorating and didn’t have the cool push button to remove the fur. Unfortunately my old one still works better than this. It just doesn’t grab much fur because the bristles must not be as long.

Maybe if your dog has very short hair it would be ok. Safari is a better option. Will be ordering a new one.

I bought this because it was self-cleaning. I had previously bought one that was not. I was surprised to find that it was MUCH larger than the previous one. It was probably designed for a dog, but it does a great job on my medium-hair 10 lb cat.

She loves the feel of it, so I get total cooperation. When I am done, you just press the tab and all of the fur slides off.

I bought the brush anticipating a long-haired puppy. Our actual pup turned out to be short-haired. I tried the brush on our two Maine Coon cats, both of whom have undercoats. What a revelation! The brush works incredibly well and the cats adore being brushed with it.

These are cats that have grudgingly tolerated being brushed. Finally, they like it! It works so well, I immediately sent one to my friend who has siblings to our two. Highly recommended.

Not only are they gentler on your dog’s skin but they last. I just tossed out my mark III from March 2018 as the rubber started to tear – I groom 4-6 dogs every weekend AND condition coats throughout the week.

This brush was used multiple times a week – I keep one in my home grooming area and one in my box for shows. I also send a mark III home with every puppy kit! I would rather spend the money on the right brush and be sure they are kept in proper condition from day one.

I have been grooming for 10 years and this is THE best brush I have ever used. it gets a fair amount of undercoat, separates the hair perfectly for brushing and scissors, holds up wonderfully (my coworker has had hers for 3 years) and it is just great quality overall.

I have been hesitant to buy this because its about 25 bucks more then an average slicker brush, but if your in the bussiness, or even have your own family pet, this will last, so it IS worth it! even works great on cats.

my cat moves around a lot when being brushed and tends not to like other brushes. he still tries to walk around when i use this one, but at least i can tell he doesn’t hate it. it gets the job done but pulling out all the loose fur from his coat.

i saw other reviews saying it’s sharp; it’s honestly not that sharp at all. i tap my finger against it a few times and it doesn’t hurt, though the bristles are thin so i would avoid brushing the face with this obviously.

very good on the back, sides and tail of the cat and maybe if your cat allows it, the belly should be fine too.

By not getting a self cleaning slicker, i knew cleaning it out would be a pain. But one of the combs I got at a hotel has the perfect spacing and is the perfect size to slide in and lift hair all in one go.

However, the packaging is not very sturdy, so when shipped it got crushed and bent a bunch of the pins back toward the pad. I was able to reshape them enough for the brush to be at least usable again, but did get a few pokes and couldn’t ever get them all the way right.

My cat isn’t shedding much YET, but this brush easily gets through her thick but short coat to lift the dandruff/build up on her rump where she cant reach. This brush actually lifts all the dandruff, so the first time i brushed her I was grossed out.

But the next day, none flaked off – one good session lifted the build up so now it’s just maintenance. she LOVES this brush on her cheeks, but since they are uncapped pins and some are wonky, i had to teach her to hold still so I could control the brush and make sure she didn’t headbutt herself into a poked eye.

Pins are fine enough to feel good but thin enough to have some give, meaning when they hit her skin they flex enough not to scratch or poke her. I wish all the pins worked as ell as those in the original shape, but they mostly-bent back ones I had to re shape post packaging smush are much less effective (1/3 the brush head).

Im obsessed with brushes because I own horses and 2 large dogs who are heavy shedders. Unfortunately for my cats, this obsession transfers over to them as well, so I currently have 8 different brushes that I use on them.

The only kind of brush that I know of that I have not used is a long toothed dematting comb, and it’s because of this brush. My long haired cat NEVER has matts in her fur because this brush works so well that I use it on her briefly every day and it takes care of her shedding and tangling.

She also tolerates it well, and she has VERY sensitive skin so she loathes brushes that pull. Which is most of them. So, according to my cat, this brush barely tugs when I use it. This isn’t a complaint, it’s more of a note, but it’s not the best brush in the world for my 2 short haired cats.

One of them has a very thin undercoat so it’s easy to get out, but the other short hair has an unusually thick undercoat. This brush helps a bit, but a Furblaster used occasionally combined with a normal old $2 hairbrush daily works way better for both of them.

This brush is still good, just not the best. However, it still falls in second place.

The results from this brush on giant, double coated breeds is fantastic. We have Great Pyrenees in our rescue and it works very well for a daily brush. The clicking is a bit annoying, and some dogs don’t like it.

It’s from the mechanics involved with releasing the hair from the brush. Unfortunately, it can also contribute to its decline in longevity after constant use to release the hair, but the amount of hair it pulls out easily is super.

Not using the release and just pulling out the hair like any normal brush allows it to last longer.

I have two French Bulldogs. One loves being groomed, taking baths, and practically everything related to being nice and clean. My other frenchie I refer to as the stinky kid. He loathes baths and grooming.

He’ll run as soon as he knows its grooming time. With that being said, using the Chi Pivoting slicker dog brush made grooming easier with the pivoting head I could reach all parts of his body without having to wrestle him.

Saved a lot of time and my frenchies look and feel amazing!.

Hey dog lover! I purchased this for my Yorkie Terrier, he likes playing in the yard and afterwards ends up with plenty of knots. I feel the product was too harsh on his skin, he did not like this brush at all.

However, I used it on my Labrador (he sheds a lot and brushing helps) and it works well for casual brushing. More or less, it works well for big dogs that do not have long fur (single coat). But, for small furry dogs (double coat), I recommend using some other product alongside a conditing cream that will help soften knots.

This is the only brush that my cats have ever genuinely liked – and all of them like it, even though they each have very different coats. It’s also perfect for synthetic fur, since it organizes any pile length without being rough on the backer.

I have one copy for textiles, and one copy for my cats. I swear by this brush, and this brush alone.

This brush just skims over their coat. They are not impressed. I tried it on both my long hair Ragdoll and short hair Siamese. They squirm away when I tried it. I really wanted it to work, to provide an alternative to their plastic tipped metal brush, but no go.

The tips won’t get through the top coat and the bristles just bend against their fur when I do brush with a slight push. Looks great, but that’s about it.

My dog sheds CONSTANTLY. I’ve tried deshedding combs to attempt to alleviate some of the struggle, but they’re almost useless, to me. They do so little at a time, and my dog didn’t like them at all. I could tell it was hurting him.

After trying this slicker brush, I’m a devout user! It picks up so much hair, and the self-cleaning feature is awesome! I’m brushing out clumps of loose hair at a time. What’s even better is the fact that my dog actually enjoys being brushed now.

He sits completely still while I brush. I’m definitely a happy customer.

I like that this particular brush has longer bristles than another I purchased. Works great for my GSD, I’d forgotten how much they shed, and purchased this especially for him. Decades ago I had a similar brush, this new design works much better, IMO.

I was really hoping I would like this brush. I like the design, the way it works, however, the bristles are way too sharp, even for the long hair dogs and no matter how gentle you apply pressure.

The bristles are the best I’ve tried for my dog’s short thin-ish coat. Unlike wire or plastic bristles, I don’t feel like this scratches her skin. Her coat is nice and shiny afterwards and she really loves being brushed with this.

The size of the brush does fit very nicely in the palm and is aesthetically pleasing as well.

Wasn’t certain if this would work on all my dogs, but it definitely does and they all love it! I have 5 dogs with a mix of short single-coat and double-coat and it gets out debris and makes their coats more shiny for them all.

My double-coat bulldog mix likes it and it does de-shed him some what, but I still use the furminator to get his undercoat. I also have arthritis in my right hand and this fits perfect in my hand and doesn’t cause any cramping like with traditional handles.

Our dog has medium, straight hair that doesn’t require detangling, just getting detritus out and smoothing her coat. This does the job wonderfully. I love the sustainable bamboo handle, though the strap is too big to really be useful–I just hold onto the whole thing with my palm.

Apparently the bristles feel good because she loves being brushed. Now to figure out how to clean fur off the bristles!.

I bought this on a whim the other day because I was looking for something to manage my cat’s dander as we get closer to the holiday season, since we always end up having a lot of guests. I wasn’t totally sure if my cat would like this brush because of the metal bristles, but it was on sale for insanely cheap and I thought I may as well try it.

Well. I’ve already tossed her old brush away. She immediately started purring the first time I used this brush on her, and even let me brush part of her tummy, which she is always a hit or miss about.

I could probably brush her for hours with this thing and she’d just sit there in pure bliss. But that isn’t even the best part; this brush is way easier to clean than her old brush, and I can just slide all of the hair and dander the brush picked up straight into the garbage, with barely any of it flying away into the air.

The only thing I wish I had done was get the smaller brush, since I have a smaller cat, but I don’t necessarily mind this regular sized one since it can hold more hair while brushing. I wish I could give this six stars.

It is true that the brush has a mechanism to cleanly eject the fur. HOWEVER, the ejection mechanism is the default. In order to bare the combs in the brush you have to hold down the button on the handle quite firmly, which is tiring and uncomfortable.

But the second you ease up on it, the plastic bar comes up over the slicker tines and ejects the hairs. so its hard to keep up steady brushing. It would be much more satisfactory/useful if the button could lock into place for actual brushing/grooming and then be released to eject the hair.

Yes, its easy to clean; but more difficult that necessary to use as a brush. I was disappointed.

At first I thought i liked this brush, even tho I had a hard time pushing the button. I wasn’t sure if it was because of having finger nails. My dogs liked it better than my other wire bristle brush & I liked that i didn’t have to sit & pick the hair out of the bristles.

But very soon the button started getting more finicky & wouldn’t release, so the self cleaning becomes non existent. After fiddling with the button, it’d release, but then came the fiddling to get it pushed in & to stay.

(so its not my nails). If the button worked as it should, I’d still like the brush, but as is, I kind of hate it. I don’t want to keep fighting with a brush just to brush my dogs.

I have a small shih-poo who is prone to matting and doesn’t really like to be brushed. She didn’t mind the first brush I bought as much on her back, but wouldn’t let me do her belly. I wanted to give the slanted brush a try as I had heard that was better for de-matting.

I went with the x-small since there wasn’t a small option, but it is way too small. The bristles are so fine that they just tug at her fur rather than actually brushing through it, and that’s not even the worst of the matted spots.

I gave two stars because I did like the construction of the handle, seems like good quality otherwise. However, I would not recommend for matted dogs.

Very well made. Has lasted for years. Bought another one today in large. First one still looks like new. Having raised and shown Rough Collies for 38 years I’ve bought a LOT of tools. Wish I had found THIS ONE back then.

My FAVORITE brush ever. Great grip on the handle, easy to use and very effective for separating and removing double coats. Gentle for my Collies. They like this brush. Recommend this brush to all of my puppy families.

I’ve used so many different brushes on cats over the years. I don’t know of any other brand/model that reaches under the chin and around tight spots like elbows as well as the smallest of these Bass slickers.

From fluffy longhairs to dense, short coats with seemingly limitless daily growth (“why isn’t this kitty bald yet?”), this brush is their absolute favorite. So many purrs! I’m so glad Chewy has these in stock regularly, because most retailers don’t have the little size cats love.

I now give them as gifts, and they have been well-appreciated.

I have three outdoor cats, and I wasn’t really concerned about helping them groom until I got my long-haired cat. He has very thick fur, so he gets mats, tangles, and hairballs. I thought I would help him out and got this brush.

I like the wood, eco-friendly handle, but the reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 was the bristles. They are rather sharp and I was nervous about hurting him, so I brushed rather lightly. I know this is to penetrate the undercoat better but I’d rather play it safe.

This didn’t catch as much fur as I thought it would, but it was surprisingly good at catching loose ticks. I pulled THREE off of him in our first brushing session. If they revised this brush to have the penetrating but softer bristles, I would get it.

I ordered this because I liked that the handle was not plastic. Unfortunately the brush has sharp, straight metal bristles. I don’t think our two cats (one long hair and the other one has short hair) will like the feeling.

There may be some cats who will have no issue with the stiffness. There were no good photos so I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve seen some metal bristle brushes slightly bent and softer to the touch.

I gave it two stars because the bamboo handle is nice.

My long hair cat LOVES her new brush. She purrs and purrs while she is being brushed, and we are doing it at least once, if not twice a day. Great at detangling/loosening matted areas and then removing loose/shedding hair to prevent future matting.

Bristles are “pointy” against my skin, so I fully get why others with shorthair cats don’t like it. Would not use on my shorthairs.

I really really love this brush! I have a fine, long haired border collie sheltie mix and a coarse, medium-haired border collie sheltie mix and this thing actually works for both of them. When they have fursplosions I do daily rounds of brushing for about 30 minutes until the fursplosion ends, can we go back to our shorter daily brushing.

It also works very well on my fine, dense furred cat who is very impossible to brush otherwise. I highly recommend this!.

My ACD has a really thick undercoat which he blows out once a year. His hair comes out in clumps. This has got to be the best brush so far that we have tried. I thought the metal bristles would maybe hurt him, but he LOVES being brushed and this pulls out those clumps of hair like no other.

Probably what helps is the brush has two flexible sides which move with the shape of the dog when you brush so there are no hard edges and probably why he doesn’t mind being brushed since this prevents poking.

This is much more effective than the flat, hard brushes. Love, love, LOVE this brush!.

My cavoodle loves this brush. We’ve tried 2 other slicker brushes and he always rolls around and refuses. Surprisingly he actually sits still and lets me brush him with this one! We have the small size.

Currently I’m not sure how I feel about the brush. I’m not overly fond of it. It’s not great with super curly hair. My girls are seeing a groomer soon and I’ll try judge the brush on shorter hair. They’re toy poodles.

I’ve found the other brush I bought elsewhere with round tips works better on them with detangling spray.

This slicker brush is the best I’ve used. I bought it for the looks originally I must admit but it is so good. It is soft and gentle but really effective on my golden retriever. The undercoat rake is really good too.

I have bought and tried so many different brushes for my large Labrador mix, including a Furminator and a knock off. The furminator style worked but took ages to make a dent in his fur. I thought after owning cocker spaniels that having a short haired dog would be less shedding but there’s been SO MUCH short hair all over my house.

I grabbed this because it was cheap and why not. My dog tolerated it pretty darn well and it’s easy to use. After the first brushing, his fur is looking really nice and the shedding is already noticeably better.

I’m fully on board and looking forward to using this a couple times a week.

I have two Great Pyrenees, they are giant long haired shedding poof balls, come spring the amount of hair is unbelievable, this inexpensive little Vibrant Life Walmart brand rake beats my expensive FURminator undercoat rake at getting the job done.

I had first bought mine to replace a broken FURminator rake. Absolutely LOVED the Vibrant Life rake, but unfortunately the handle snapped on it this spring (my dogs have intensely dense fur, so I’ve learned it happens even with the most expensive tools) and we desperately need a new one, I and so sad to find it is out of stock, but not surprised – everyone with a long haired dog loves this thing when they use it – and shedding season is upon us, so they have simply been all bought up.

I sure hope they can get more back in stock soon, i think until then I will just try to make do with my broken one, that’s how much my dogs and I prefer it over the other more expensive ones – which don’t hold up any better!.

The brush is sturdy and the bristles are strong and sharp. I guess this is normal for this type of brush, but my schnauzer doesn’t like it. I think you need to use a gentle brushing technique.

It snagged on my border collie hair really pulling. They don’t have matted hair so brushes go thru very easily. Not this brush. The bristles are at the wrong angle. Self cleaning is great concept but my dogs hates the brush.
