20 Best Sleeping Positions For Constipation (2023 Updated)

I am writing this review in the hope that it will help you, as it did me. COLASE Regular Strength quite possibly saved my life today. As a member of the Press, I covered San Diego Comic-Con last Wednesday through Sunday.

It was a very crowded event. In that time I hardly drank any water and, because I am being extremely careful about COVID, I wore an N95 mask the whole five days when I was away from home, and I did not eat anything.

Not surprisingly, by the following Monday morning I had serious constipation — the worst I’ve ever had in my life (I am 68). I experienced an ever-tightening cycle of no pain, followed suddenly with excruciating bowel pain (with pain in my legs, too).

I was absolutely certain that I had a very large-diameter, dry stool, and I could not pass it. After several hours of agony, it became too painful to even try, but the urges kept getting more and more frequent and intense.

On Monday and Tuesday, i started to eat lots of high-fiber foods, drank lots of water and took the maximum adult daily dose of three COLACE Regular Strength tablets. At first there were no beneficial results.

Instead, I was increasingly experiencing almost unbearable pain. Finally, at about 3:00 PM on Tuesday, when I could not stand the pain any more, could barely walk even just around my bathroom, because of the painful urges, and was reluctantly about to call an ambulance to take me to the hospital emergency room, a huge stool emerged with hardly any additional effort from me.

The COLASE had softened it to the point where, assisted by the water and the weight of all the fiber that I had been eating, it could finally make its way out on its own. I’ll spare you seeing the photo that I took but it was huge — probably 2-1/2 feet in length and about 2-inches in diameter.

COLACE Regular Strength works — albeit slowly. Always drink lots of water, eat high-fiber foods and only consume highly processed foods in moderation. Your health could depend on that.

Bought this at Target. I typically have a BM every day, sometimes every other day if I don’t drink enough fluids. I had a horrible bout of diarrhea last Friday, March 18th. I became very constipated after that and I was so uncomfortable, felt like I had rocks plugging me up, even though I increased foods rich in fiber and increased my fluid intake.

This stuff really works! I finally bought this last Wednesday, and I took 2 pills that evening before bed. By Thursday evening I had a very small BM. I thanked the Lord for that because I knew that if this didn’t work, I’d end up at urgent care and I really didn’t feel like being poked and prodded ‘down there’.

I thought that my bowel habits would go back to normal after that, but I became plugged up again by Friday evening, so on Saturday afternoon, I took 2 more pills. This morning, I was able to have a normal-sized BM, and the stool consistency was finally normal.

This stuff works very well. I’ve seen some other comments here about people feeling dizzy and nauseous from this product. I’m not sure if they took just the Colace, or if it was the 2-in-1 product. If you took the 2-in-1, the stimulant laxative in it can cause this.

This is the exact reason I can’t take stimulant laxatives, they make me extremely ill. Try taking only the Colace and hopefully you’ll not have those side effects. Also, remember to drink plenty of fluids while taking this, even more than you normally drink in a day.

Colace works by drawing water from the body into the colon to help keep things lubricated in there so the stool doesn’t dry up even more than it already has, and it helps the mucus membranes in the colon produce more of it so the stool ‘slides’ through easier.

This can also cause some dehydration which can make you feel woozy and nauseous. Be sure to take it easy, and get up slowly from lying down or sitting. You can try drinking some Gatorade, Powerade, or Pedialyte to replenish the electrolytes this medication can deplete.

Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) may also help with the wooziness and nausea, too. It’s used in motion sickness medications and it’s relatively safe to take as long as you’re not going to be driving or doing anything that could be dangerous if you’re a bit sleepy.

Also, avoid caffeine when constipated because caffeine can make constipation and dehydration worse. Try drinking warm liquids like non-caffeinated tea (lemon, ginger, chamomile, or peppermint teas can help soothe an upset tummy) and soup.

**Do NOT stop eating solid foods when constipated!** This will only make it worse because the digestive system slows way down when it isn’t getting any solids. If you’re feeling queasy, do the BRAT diet.

Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. This is easy on the stomach and it helps to keep things moving along. I hope this advice helps those of us who are suffering; it’s just such a yucky feeling to be all clogged up! Sending y’all my love and light!!.

Omg se of these reviews are ridiculous. This medication DOES NOT make you go. It is not a stimulant, it is a softener only. People are complaining it didn’t make them go. Educated yourselves people. Read labels.

I have been taking FinerCon for years. This version of FiberCon is new to me. But I like it. These pills are amaller and muuch easier to swallow. This version helps me every bit as well as the original FinerCon, with one great advantage — no more bloating.

Easy way to get back to regular. It’s level one of my three level attack when I have constipation. Level two is two ducolax eight hour pill level three the nuclear bomb ducolax suppository 15 minutes… I don’t do miralax.

I use Fibercon every day to help with my diarrhea. I use as little water as I need to swallow the 2 pills which is different than the instructions. My doctor said I could use it this way for diarrhea rather than the directions on the bottle for constipation.

Hello everyone, I was quite nervous reading reviews from one spectrum to the other and thought I’d share mine. While at work yesterday, I drank 3 full glasses of water and then 2 more after I got home in preparation with the assumption I may/may not be dehydrated.

My mom recommended these to me and I saw the issues everyone had taking multiple so I only took 1. I took it about 8-9pm that night along with about a half bottle of Bodyarmor. I also bought some of those ginger honey candies for upset tummy just in case.

I ate one. Fast forward about 5a. m. in the morning I felt pretty much nothing, but figured I was not going to take any more on top of 1. About 6:30 a. m. I finally had very mild cramping (barely there) and went to the bathroom.

I have only went once after that and have no cramping at all. I’m at work and have yet to go a third time. My experience was great, felt barely anything and it may have been to drinking water/bodyarmor ahead of time.

I also see the package says to avoid dairy an hour prior, but I chose not to have any that day. Hope this helps someone!.

This is my third time using this medication. Both previous times were from medication I was prescribed for gastritis issues. The first time I took one I hadnt eaten and wasn’t drinking water much due to no appetite, that was definitely the wrong thing to do.

The cramps were so painful and I was very nauseous. So the second time I came and read reviews and thought maybe it was because I hadnt eaten or drank much water the last time. I ate and hour or so before, drank constant water (at least two bottles right after taking it), the cramps were less painful.

Within the next two hours of taking the 5mg pill I went twice and felt so much better. My recommendation is to eat at least an hour before taking this laxative and drinking lots of water and you wont experience the harsh side effects.

I’ve always struggled with occasional constipation but recently the past three weeks I was so backed up I had to go to the hospital and have an x-ray of my stomach because I got a cramp so severe I thought it was my appendix! Nope, it was constipation.

After two bottles of magnesium citrate, a week of perrigo and trying fleet suppositories I was fed up. The fleet brand suppositories are awful. They don’t feel like they have any actual medicine in them and they were too soft and waxy/aloe to use and wouldn’t stay in.

Glycerin suppositories are not for me. These Dulcolax suppositories are so much more easy to get it. I struggled a bit at first but these are shorter and once you get them in, I had to hold the suppository in for a couple minutes to make sure it would stay and within less than 20 minutes I finally had a semi normal bowel movement.

These are shorter and more form fitted to say the least, lol to be able to use. It’s uncomfortable for everyone but these were the most comfortable for me. A little bit of stomach cramps and of course a little burning from the suppository and from being constipated so long but other than that I feel more relieved.

Still probably going to see a G. I specialist but when you’re suffering these really do work. I had surgery about a year ago to have my right ovary and a cyst removed, I think that really amped up my constipation.

Many people had horrible constipation after surgeries. I recommend if need be lubing the suppository with some vitamin A.

IšverstiShow in original languageIt worked! I had been constipated for about 8 days – able to a (very) little bit a few time, but then 3 days of nothing. Took 2 pills at 8 pm and by 8 am did not feel anything.

Basically as soon as I had something to eat I could feel my stomach working. Was not painful, just normal “oof I’m about to poop”. Was able to go and did not have diarrhea. I’ve been gassy the rest of the day and am sure there is more, but definitely helped to get things going.

Way more pleasant experience than I thought, but I think it was due to had long it had been. It makes me wonder if all the horrible reviews were people who were not constipated for nearly as long.

some people didn’t have a great experience with these but everyone experiences it differently. I took 2 at 8pm and experienced little cramping, and some rumbles at 4am. By 9:30 am that’s when it did it’s thing, I was in and out of my bathroom for an hour, I did have nausea but I didn’t puke and it wasn’t overwhelming, once I ate something I was fine.

Bottom line is that this is a great way to release all of your waste and get rid of bloating!.

It most definitely was a “smooth” release. I felt cramps prior to me getting out of bed, and it wasn’t too harsh. It felt like normal period cramps. After my 1st release; seriously probably spent a good 5-7 mins on the toilet, and ended up going back to bed.

For the 2nd release; I didn’t experience any cramps, just bubble guts. This time, maybe a good 5 minutes on the toilet, I decided to weigh myself and. a WHOLE 5lbs out of me. I couldn’t believe that I had this much junk inside of me.

I was fresh off of a vacation and seriously constipated. I’m not “normal” when it comes to daily release, and can go at least once a day. I will keep these little babies on hand when I start to feel uncomfortable and unable to go.

Bottom line: if you feel how I felt, buy the pills. You won’t regret it.

I hadn’t passed a BM in two weeks, it became increasingly painful to where I had pain and bleeding, ended up getting a hemorrhoid. Was extremely uncomfortable and couldn’t eat or drink. Ugh I’m pregnant and chose this stool softener bcuz it said gentle and stimulant free. Well I only took ONE capsule to try it out (it says take 1-3), lo and behold it kicked in very strongly and suddenly only few hrs later, in the grocery store no less, my other kids with me.

I made mistake of not thinking it worked at first felt really stuck ed up. however after some of this mixed with my drink non tasting that’s for sure but it helped me tremendously smooth move however felt like the toilet was my house for a day or 2 works great it takes a while to kick in.

I have had constipation all my life (71yo) and was started on Miralax by my doctor. It’s pricey so I have tried other products such as the Member Mark Brand, (don’t waste your money even tho the pharmacy said it was the same as Miralax.

) Senokot-S, Probiotics, Stool softener. I alway have to come back to MiraLax. If you are severely constipation, you may have to take it twice a day or two capsule instead of one. MiraLax mixes well in coffee and has no taste.

I found I can not use Milk products in my coffee because it tends to curdle. I don’t find this problem with creamer. I usually back off for a day if the stools become too soft. You should aways call your doctor if you are having severe stomach pains, nausea or vomiting, unable to pass gas or have a BM.

ok. first of all those who suffer from constipation know how awful it is and for some it is a life-long aggravation. I’ve taken every medication when it comes to this awful malady and some meds can be so horrible it doesn’t seem to be worth it.

I finally got this medication and it has helped so much where I can live without that awful bloating and pain associated with constipation. I took 2 pills and within 2 days it worked and it was gentle and now I use it once a week to maintain a healthy pattern where before I would go for weeks w/o out a BM.

that’s right. weeks to a couple of months. Now, if I go once a week I feel liberated and it’s now required maintenance for me. thank God this stuff works.

I was diagnosed by specialist with Coeliac disease and cirrhosis of the liver. It for some reason cause a lot of issues with my bowel. I don’t know which one dies. Do notice if eat gluten it can get pretty painful.

But I’ve been regularly taking senokot for over 4 years to help regulate and soften my stool. It’s never given me problems.

Easy to take. Works okay, but BEWARE! Not intended for long term use. This and the laxative form can cause health issues. I found out the hard way with a brief hospital stay. Trying an alternative after another scare.

The hospital didn’t say this was related to Dulcolax, but after my diligent research found that these products can impact electrolytes and deplete NECESSARY MINERALS. Do no use long term!!!.

1st time I tried this brand for a stool softener. I must take stool softeners daily & usually use Senna. I gave this a try & it worked, but it didn’t work as well as Senna. Dulcolax stool softener took more time than Senna to have a bowel movement.

(…& the Senna does not use a laxative stimulant in case ur thinking that is the reason why).

I bought these to use for postpartum after having my second daughter back in March. Didn’t end up needing them or using them at all, however, these are still a MUST HAVE for postpartum. I did have to use these after having my first and they helped so much.

This natural laxative has worked wonders for me although I’m now needing to take 5-6 tabs daily to achieve success. This depletes my supply too quickly and is becoming expensive. Not sure if Gaia has another higher potency dose or other recommendation? Also concerned that it could make my system dependent on it, any comments appreciated!.

Took it for constipation. Two tablets at night for 7 days and 1 tablet on day eight. Definitley got things moving quickly on a regular basis but had side effects for me. After day two noticed I was waking up groggy.

This continued each day and was accompanied by muscle and joint achiness and a lot of unrestful sleep which involved waking up and tossing, turning and being extemely thirsty no matter how much water I consumed throughout the day and into the evening.

Side effects dissipated within an hour or two of awakiening, moving around and drinking lots of water (16 oz). I took it for as long as I did because it worked for my constipation but realized the side effects were too much for me.

For me using it one evening or at most two nights in a row would be the max I could tolerate. I’m looking for someting more tolerable to my system. maybe triphala. Any advise would be appreciated. Good luck to all.

IT WORKED BETTER THAN THE GENTLE LAXATIVE THAT TOOK TOO LONG TO WORK FOR ME. I DO ADVISE USERS TO DRINK MORE WATER DAILY WHEN ON A STOOL SOFTENER OR LAXATIVE. I FOUND IT MAKES THE PRODUCT WORK BETTER AND FASTER.

These work well. They’re not harsh in any way. Very mild stomach cramps, if any at all. Softens and cleans out well. These are all I buy now and also the only thing that really works for me without a problem.

This product works very well for me and does not make me sick as other products of this type do. Very reliable and the pill form makes it easy to be consistent with dosage amount. And the container can be easily carried or stored, thanks to its small size.

I rarely wright reviews, but I had to with this one. Let me start with my condition. I found out I have sibo, it’s small intestinal bacteria overgrowth. It causes major constipation. Ever since I got this sibo my pooping regular is non existent.

I think this is great. I’ve been searching for 20 years because I’ve had problems all my life. I’ve been taking up to 8 pills of magnesium daily and/or a variety of other products, and still struggled with constipation.

Without going into detail, I have medical conditions that can be very painful if I have any pressure from constipation. With this product I’ve been able to eliminate frequently, and that keeps me from pain.

This is not my first experience with Miralax. My daughter has struggled with constipation issues on and off since she was little, and her doctors have always advised me to give her Miralax when she was struggling badly with constipation.

Most recently due to a severe bout of constipation my daughters doctors advised me to have my daughter do a full cleanse with miralax, and after doing that, she has to be on the miralax daily for severalweeks, so when i saw these pre-measured single dose packets, i knew they would be the way to go.

They take the headache out of having to measure out the dose, and i just pour a single packet in some juice or water thats in a bottle, give it a good shake, and the miralax dissolves super easily. It is tasteless, so my daughter drinks it right up without any issues.

The best thing about Miralax in my opinion is that it doesnt cause any stomach cramping, or the sudden urge to go. Miralax works slowly over the course of one to three days usually before producing a bowel movement, and is extremely gentle on the stomach.

In my experience I can honestly say that Miralax is an excellent product and very effective.

So I have been using other products by this brand this last month but I would have to say that this product the Genexa Senna Laxative just is not helping in any way whatsoever. The package of Genexa Senna Laxatives comes with 50 chewable tablets in this package, and it says that this will help with gentle overnight relief of occasional constipation/irregularity.

It also says that it generally produces a bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours. The Genexa Senna Laxative has no artificial sweeteners, no artificial preservatives, no parabens, no talc, no common allergens, and no artificial dyes.

This product is organic, vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free. But for what ever reason this product did not help at all with consipation. I do like this brand because I like some of the other products, but for whatever reason this product did not help.

I like this brand because it helps in my opinion keep what goes in mine and my family’s body’s more clean then a lot of other brands, so I will still recommend this brand to everyone.

I got to #trynatural with Senna Laxative by Genexa. As always, Genexa’s products do not contain artificial sweeteners, artificial dyes, parabens, allergens or talc. It is organic and non-GMO. I always have some doubts abut homeopathic medications, but this one is a pretty simple treatment sold as regular laxatives.

I gave a laxative to my 8, almost 9 year old son. While this is not the children’s laxative by Genexa, he still fell within the age range of the recommended use. It was the only way I could test the product as he suffers from chronic constipation while I do not.

He did not have any success with the product. This is very likely due to his ongoing issues and not the ineffectiveness of the product. I would be willing to tr again in the future, as well as use myself if needed.

Our children DO NOT NEED fillers and unnecessary ingredients in their bodies! The adult Senna Laxative is the third medicine my family has tried since learning of Genexa.

After some research I discovered Dulcolax, which had mixed reviews. For me, Dulcolax relieved me of my problem overnight without any side effects, no cramps, nothing, apart from relief🤗. I would recommend starting with one tablet at night, increasing by one a night until you find what suits you, as everyone is different you’ll have to find your own dose.
