20 Best Sleeping Bag For Kids (2023 Updated)

This sleeping bag, along with a similar Kelty sleeping bag we purchased several years ago for my daughter, kept my 2 year old warm with minimal additional clothing for several days of camping with nighttime lows around 35 degrees.

Despite the cool weather and many noises of a campground he slept like a rock, it’s a quality product he will grow into for many years for a very reasonable price. I would purchase both kids bags again and again.

We have this style sleeping bag for both our kids and they are well-loved. At night it can get down to the 40s all summer and the kids stay comfortable and warm. They really love the colors too! Before these our sleeping bags just weren’t cutting it on the cold nights.

We purchased this Kelty Kids Mistral 30° bag for our almost 3 year old son in preparation for our camping trip to Big Bend NP. Being that it is a 30° bag, we expected it to be a sufficient rating D the camping we were planning on doing.

I am happy to say it worked exactly as advertised in the mid to upper 40° overnight desert temps. He liked to use it unzipped as a blanket when falling asleep and then ask us to zip it as the temps dropped.

He also loved to “hide” his head in the hood as he was waking up. We also used the stuff sack to adjust the length of the bag to better fit his height.

First off, I’ve owned and used countless sleeping bags over the years since I was a kid. Getting them out of the sleeve, unrolling and rolling them back up and putting them back. Not always easy, but this bag?’!?!? Takes it to another level! I knew this bag was trouble the moment I was getting it out of the sleeve it was rolled in.

Super tight. And when I finally got it out, it immediately puffed up. Secondly, the product description said “polyester/cotton, but the tag says all polyester from the the outside in. I did a protect check to make sure everything was working bc we’re going camping this weekend.

I checked the zippers, all worked well. Not a bad bag if you don’t mind sleeping on a plastic (polyester) bag. When I attempted rolling it back up and stuffing it back in the bag, was impossible to do it myself.

Bag is too slippery, too puffy, and too difficult to do it by myself. Had to get wifey and even then it was a struggle. I mean it’s almost comical! No way I want to go through Thais every time we use it.

I will be returning the bag!.

I do mostly car camping. at some point along the journey I figured that I prefer not ‘rough’ it more then necessary. I cherish a decent night sleep, which largely depends on being comfortable (as possible).

I went from thermarests to a full sized inflatable mattress, but still used a mummy style sleeping bag, same one I would take backpacking on occasion. The one rated for -20, but where I freeze my but off if the temp drops below 50.

And the one where I always felt cramped, being over 6′ and 200+lbs. The Teton Mammoth is the bees knees in camping comfort and warmth. The thing is huge, well constructed, very roomy (I typically sleep alone in the 2 person bag, but the misses has expressed interest in taking an excursion at some point.

) and the warmest bag I’ve ever used. I expect this will be the last car camping bag I’ll ever own. Thank you Teton Sports for making such an amazing product! P. S. , thank you for posting the video for getting it back in the stuff sack.

I had pretty much written off the remotest possibility that I would ever get back in there.

This bag has been great so far, but we still need to find the right pad and many don’t work. The Klymit sized short pad is too low r-value, the thermarest is pretty expensive and mummy style. Those are about the only two short pad options.

We’ve been using a short sized Nemo switchback, partially sticking out the top, which works ok but is easy to flip. The bag itself is very warm, but as many reviews have said, the underside needs a pad, there is no insulation.

Just wish more brands made short pads to fit!.

Great sleeping bag – lightweight but warm. Cool feature of pocket for sleeping mat to slide through so the kid doesn’t roll off during the night. The only thing with the little red is the pocket has a bottom and so a full sized sleeping mat sticks out the top a ways.

Would like to try with a kids sized sleeping mat.

This bag is described as being appropriate for kids up to 4’5″. In reality, my 4’2″ seven year-old’s shoulders were sticking out the top. This is a quality technical bag but it only fits very small kids.

I can’t imagine this working for any kid over 4′ tall. Returned it and bought a Western Mountaineering Apache MF in the smallest size instead.

Really nice sleeping bag that stays zipped and closes up tight to keep kids warm. When you are camping with kids, keeping them under the covers is half of the battle so I think this will work great. If nothing else, it’s worth it for the zipper that doesn’t snag, especially when kids use it!.

Bought 2 for a 4 and 6 year old. They love them! Really good quality product, come with nice carry bags too. Exceptional value for the price. I can see them being able to use for a long time as they will fit anybody comfortably who is under 5ft tall.

We bought this bag for our 3 year old, and now that she’s six, she still loves it! Super warm and plenty of space to turn over in. The built in pillow makes it very convenient and comfortable too. For summer camping, we generally keep it unzipped because it is so well insulated.

Recently we were camping in the coast Redwoods (30 degrees at night with high humidity) and that was the first time she said she was cold. Overall, great buy!.

Haven’t used it outside yet, but we are pleased with this sleeping bag for our five-year-old. It’s thick, soft, and packs nicely. This is very similar to our adult-sized sleeping bags, which I find suitable for camping trips where temps don’t drop below freezing.

Deep purple color is attractive.

I bought 2 for my youngest children (5 and 6). They are very nice quality and colors nice and vivid. zippers are also high quality. I can see these lasting quite awhile. definitely recommend!

Purchased for my grandson’s 4th birthday gift. He was excited to have it and tried it out right away. This bag feels and looks great. It will be used for tent camping in parks and at home. I think it was a good value too.

We have a 75 percentile 20 month old. Last year we were able to get by with heavy duty bunting, but couldn’t find any other suitable options for her current size. We got this bag for some recent spring camping in the PNW, and this bag did the trick.

We had to fold the sleeves up a little bit, and the neck was a bit large, but it was warm enough for our toddler to miraculously sleep through the night (~40 degrees outside the tent). She was nice and toasty when we got her out in the morning.

We were nervous that switching from a cotton sleep sack to the sleeping bag material would be uncomfortable or wake her up but didn’t seem to have any problems. I saw that some older models had synthetic options – we really really wished this was still an available option!.

Bought this with camping and some very short backpacking adventures in mind. Haven’t used it in the field, yet, but my three year old enjoys using it at home once in a while. The material is comfortable (especially the soft neck collar), it packs down well enough for my purposes, and the cuffs roll over to keep little hands warm.

I am a fan of the two way zipper. Can’t speak to durability, yet, but I am hoping it will last until she outgrows it.

We really love this sleeping bag and company! The best customer service I have come across. Genuinely wonderful people with a well-made, safe product. Keeps my toddler cozy and always covered which is incredibly helpful as he flops around the tent like a fish out of water while he sleeps.

He can move around in it easily when he’s actually awake too, sits up with no problem, and can still drink out of his Munchkin cup with his mitts covered. The color is beautiful and vibrant, the material is high quality, and it comes with a little stuff sack.

My husband and I saw these sleeping bags in the Christmas booklet we received. They were sold out in the store, but had all 6 styles available online, (ordered 2 monster trucks, shark & mermaid). We ordered 4 of them for our 4 grandkids (ages 3-7).

We received them in just a few days! The grandkids LOVE them!! Our 7 yr old granddaughter even called days later to say how much she loves the mermaid we got her. These were such a hit with the kids, something different than the usual toys they always get.

Love this! We saw the “happy napper” commercial on TV and my four year old HAD to have one for Christmas. They end up being, with shipping and handling around $60. I saw this at Sams, what a deal! It’s so close to the same thing.

He loves the shark version, and I am thinking of getting him the monster truck one as well. He sleeps with this in his bed, like a sleeping bag. He prefers this over his regular comforter! So happy with my purchase, and it feels SUPER soft.

Our granddaaughters loved these cute sleeping bags. They take them upstairs for nap time then bring them back downstairs with them when they wake up. Worth the price for sure. The sleeping bags seem to be rugged enough for the kids to rough house in them too.

It was a nice accessory to their Princess tent.

I wish I had known about these sleeping bags before, I have waiste money on thin sleeping bags. Decided to try these out and true to the previous reviewers, sleeping bags are great. There is flannel/ Soft cotton lining on the inside which allows kids to sleep without sliding around and prevents sweating.

The cotton sleeping bags seem to be durable, of high quality. They are nice and thick, soft to sleep on. Perfect for toddlers/preschooler.

This was a birthday gift for grandson. I looked at many sleeping bags, for a cotton liner. Who wants to sleep in a polyester lining? This bag is all cotton, and machine washable. Nice, bright colors, decent padding, and it comes with a carry-bag.

Perfect for our three year old grandson’s overnights. I especially liked that it came with s matching pillowcase!

I bought two of these sleeping bags for my nephews. Not only were the boys thrilled when I gave them their sleeping bags for their birthday, but it was also good knowing that I was giving them a good product.

The pattern is really cute! The bags were a bit longer than I was expecting, but my nephews are young and they will be able to use them for years to come. My favorite thing about these bags is that they have a stuff sack.

We’re headed out for our first camping trip with the kids this weekend to try this out in the wild, but they’ve already slept in it several times! From the minute we opened the box, the kids have been in the sleeping bags – at night, during nap, hanging out in the living room, etc.

Sleeping bag is well made, but very narrow. We’ve had other kid (indoor) sleeping bags that were wide enough I could actually get into, just not long enough for me. My kids felt like they had too little room to move around inside the bags, but the bags were warm enough and they liked the moose design.

My kids are 7 and 8, average size. I am returning them, and purchasing full size bags. These may be better for younger kids.

The sleeping bag is yeah perfect for younger children. My son is five and will be able to use this for the next couple of years. The material is very soft, not like the silky feel of some sleeping bags.

It looks very well-made so I’m hopeful it will hold up for several years. My son loves it. This makes an excellent sleep over sleeping bag. I don’t know that it would be great for camping in colder weather as it is not super insulated.

But for warmer weather it would be just fine.

My 3-Year-Old son loves this. It is lightweight enough for him to use with his blankie and still not get too hot while sleeping. I would recommend washing it a couple of times before using it. This fits perfectly in his toddler bed and gives just enough padding for his head as a pillow without being overstuffed.

I luckily bought the long model even though the normal one is for up to 6′. Very glad I did that. As my first sleeping bag, I got advice from so many people. Some told me to adhere to the temp rating, some said get a lower rating and just sleep on top of it if it’s hot.

I should have listened to my more experienced friend about sleeping on top. Temps dropped to 40 and I wish I got a bag that was rated even 20 or below. I was wearing just a t-shirt and running pants to sleep and everyone said I ought to just wear more to bed, but I like being less restricted when sleeping.

The bag was just enough but would have liked to be a bit warmer. I ended up wearing running pants and a merino base layer to sleep for 50 degrees and it was fine. The material was nice, soft, and light.

I appreciated the zips a lot but didn’t get to try the split zip at my legs. Highly recommend for the quality!.

I bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter. It is very pretty and soft. She was delighted and begged her mom to allow her to sleep in it the first night. It arrived in a timely way and in good condition.

I was really worried that the material would not be soft. The outside is cotton and is a little rough to the touch, but the inside is cozy soft. My little girl loves this bag. Really loves the little butterflies and lady bugs that are all over too.

I was pleasantly surprised that these sleeping bags were thick enough to be very comfortable for my grandchildren to sleep on the floor. I was not as happy with the finish — it is rough on the outside and I felt it should be softer material.

I bought this bag for visiting family who would be staying on the floor in the basement. It’s rated at 50 degrees cold, I believe, and was perfectly adequate for the indoor use. I had to wash it several times over the course of a few days due to a stomach bug and some potty training mishaps, but it has held up well so far.

No clumping from those several washes. I am pleased with the quality and the price.

Could not find a size online and when it came it was 4 inches short for my 8 year old. This bag is for 3-6 year olds. Advertised as a kids sleeping bag. Cute design is why my 8 year old wanted it. We will have to buy a teen size.

This sleeping bag is perfect for my 6year old daughter. She loves to lay on it in the living room. It’s a good weight and nice and comfy!

Don’t buy this sleeping bag if you are looking for 3 season. As you can see in one of the pictures, it is 1-2 season, which I was disappointed to discover when I received it. It is otherwise a decent bag, and I am keeping it for my little one, as we have no immediate cold-weather plans.

I contacted Trespass some time ago about changing the product description, but have not received a response, which has added to my disappointment.

The reason I’m only giving this sleeping bag 3 stars is that on the website it says it is 3-seasons but on arrival the tag said 2-seasons. It certainly doesn’t feel like 3-seasons. Novelty value is high – my 2-year old loved the giraffe head.

Wouldn’t be using this camping in Scotland in the autumn though!.

Great sleeping bag, little girl loves giraffes so this was perfect for her. It’s junior size, she will get maybe 1-2 years out of it so if your child is a fast grower I’d suggest an adult one. I got this as we needed a smaller one for a rainbows trip (tents small) and I knew she would get ware out of it as she’s slept with it in bed every night since getting it so no waste lol.

I bought the Woodland sleeping bag for my grandsons birthday. My granson LOVES it. He takes naps in it, watches TV in it and gets in it to look at his books. It is incredibly soft, vibrant colors, well made, has the attached pillow and best of all is machine washable.

Purchased two sleeping bags to match the bedding in my grandchildren’s bunk room. The room is in a log house and bedding is on log bunk beds. So it looks really cute. However, bunk beds can be a pain to make and change so using the matching sleeping bags makes my life a bit easier!.

Gave this sleeping bag to my grandson when he turned 4. He’s an absolute nut about dinosaurs and he couldn’t have been more excited! He jumped right in, loved the little attached pillow and colorful dinosaurs on the outside.

We started a family tradition that the grands get their own sleeping bag the Christmas they are 3. Ordered early this year — so as not to be disappointed with supply chain issues and all. Granddaughter was SO excited to open her present on Christmas and use it the later that week.

So sad to discover a defect in the pillow fabric. BUT Lands’ End customer service to the rescue. Everyone was so helpful and we were able to get the replacement sleeping bag here quick. Thanks so much for standing behind your products — and being NICE about it.

My son loves this sleeping bag, it’s very soft and cozy and it’ll be great for sleeping at grandparents houses. Unfortunately it has two great weaknesses, the first is that the pillow is built in and not removable.

Would like it if it could be taken out for washing and able to be replaced when it eventually flattens. Also. This is definitely an indoor only sleeping bag. Soft lining would not keep out wind or be water resistant.

We will still enjoy it but it won’t last as long as hoped because the pillow will not last and we will need something different for camping. But my five year old is pleased and is currently using it in bed at home.

This bag is as colorful as the picture and seems to be very well-made. My only reservation concerns the attached pillow. It’s very cushy & soft, but it would have been SO much better if the pillow cover were not permanently sewed on to the bag, but attached with a zipper, velcro or a row of buttons or snaps so it could be removed for washing.

As it is, the cover will get just as dirty as a regular bed pillow–long before the entire bag will need to be laundered. I had considered removing the pillow form & just smoothing the loose fabric down into the bag, but decided against that.

I know my granddaughter will love it as it is, but I also know her mother is not going to be too wild about running to a laundromat to use a commercial-sized washing machine.

My grandson was really pleased with the sleeping bag he slept in it that night in his new tent.
