20 Best Sleeping Bag For Hammock (2023 Updated)

I bought this bag last May in anticipation for hunting season in the fall. I have since spent at least 20 nights in this bag on four different hunts. Early season archery deer, archery elk, rifle elk, and Wyoming antelope.

The coldest temperature I used this in was around 20 degrees. It worked awesome. This is my first down sleeping bag, before this I always used synthetics. I am a convert. The loft on this bag helps to fill the spots that normally cold air would come in.

It is awesome. I am super comfortable in this bag. I used it like a regular sleeping bag. I did not use it in a hammock. I am a bigger (fat) guy and the extra inches in width built in to this bag for the intention of hammock camping made it the ideal bag for me.

I am confident I could use this bag in a variety of circumstances and it would do well. One thing I really appreciate is the quality of the zipper. It does not snag and is super durable. I know you are going to love this bag!.

I got it for Christmas and almost a month later I finally got to try out the Snugpak Hammock Cocoon. My hope was to take my 3 season gear to the next level and I think I’ve done it. It didn’t get down to the predicted low of 22° it was more like 28°.

But I did wake up warm and comfortable while only wearing my light weight long underwear (17% wool and 83% polyester blend). I have a 15° hammock sleeping bag that I use all the time, and with the Snugpak Hammock Cocoon I’m sure I can get down to at least 0° or less with the proper layers.

I just want to thank Snugpak for making such a wonderful piece of gear and not charging an inflated price for it.

Once I practiced and got the correct tensions, quite possibly one of the most comfortable nights I have experienced. Heavy rain was thwarted by a decent tarp, I tied clingfilm thickly around both hammock cords closer to the hammock than the tree, this prevents drippage down.

Great product, no more kip mats for this old vet.

I have not gone camping with yet. But have tried out the item at home. Great quality for the price! Nice and warm. It condenses down nicely for transportation. I am using for kayak camping and it will fit nicely in my storage compartments.

I have also ordered the underquilt for the total system.

Used it 40 degree’s never got cold no draft. Quality product. Recommend for hammock use.

it is good quality, warm and big enough for me (192 cm). Where I live, this time of the year temperature drops allready 0c or more. at nights. But I stay warm under the quilt. I cant wait winter to test it better.

Took this bag out backpacking for a few nights in Mt Rainier National Park just after Christmas, plenty of snow on the ground (and also falling) and lows of 15 degrees. I stayed comfortably warm the whole time just sleeping in my base layers.

One very cold night I was a bit cold just where my body touched the ground or tent (ie hip, elbow), but I easily remedied that by putting my extra clothing between the bag and the cold spots. My feet were never cold (they were always freezing in my last bag).

BEST part about this sleeping bag is the design. I usually get so claustrophobic in mummy bags. This bag is a game changer! The little flap around the opening allowed me to stop any cold airflow from coming into the bag without having to cinch the opening completely closed like my last bag.

So if I woke up feeling claustrophobic I just popped that flap open for a second and my fear went away instantly. Also I could turn from side to side inside the bag withOUT the bag turning or getting displaced, and easily bend my knees into a side fetal position which I find comfortable.

The small pocket for personal items is incredibly handy for phone, chapstick, earplugs, etc. I bought my bag at the REI garage sale because it had been returned without the small stuff sack so I can’t provide feedback on that, but I just used one I already owned and was able to get it plenty small, smaller than my husbands 15 degree bag.

Overall, although it’s slightly heavier that other 15 degree bags on the market, the ability to actually be comfortable in it is worth the extra weight in my opinion. Highly recommend for many reasons.

I will say that at 5’5’’ (155lbs if that info is helpful elsewhere) I remembered noting that I was glad I wasn’t much taller, as it was perfect for me lengthwise.

Well made Nemo bag. Materials are well employed around different zones of the bag, but I wonder whether the shell is too lightweight. I find myself being overly delicate thinking it will run or tear.

Other nitpicks, the elastic around the face is designed for 1 handed operation, and inexplicably Nemo used a similar shell material as a channel for the cord. It binds terribly and requires 2 hands to smoothly release.

But overall, I can live with these for the moderate increase in comfort inside for tossing and turning. Clearly, I have disposable income as I would have returned this one when I was a younger lad.

I recently purchased this bag to replace an older one that was also only comfort-rated for OC. I needed something warmer and also something that would let me sleep on my side. Most mummy bags are way too restrictive.

This bag is heavier than my last one and I was ok with that because it’s quite a bit warmer and roomier. Used it for 2 nights on a recent backpack and found it might actually be a little too warm lol.

Really wish they made a comfort level for -5C. But there are lots of ways to vent and I’d rather be warm than too cold. Love the pillow sleeve and the cell phone pocket!.

I recently used the Coleman – Kompact™ 25°F Mummy Sleeping Bag on a weekend camping trip. The days are warm here right now but it still gets pretty low temperature wise at night especially camping near a lake.

This sleeping bag kept me warm and comfortable each night of my camping trip. I love the fact of it being able to cover a good portion of my head for both warmth and its helps me a bit with anxiety. The zipper works amazingly, I didn’t have it snag on the material once while zipping or unzipping it.

The sleeping bag itself material wise felt so comfortable, soft and Satin like. When I was done with the sleeping bag I could put it back in its compact storage bag which saves alot of space ! Awesome sleeping bag all the way around!.

I am really impressed with this sleeping bag, I never was interested in mummy sleeping bags, I am so happy to have got this one. I love how this sleeping bag feels, the material is so soft and love the colors.

The zipper zips really well no snagging on material. I used this out in 35 F weather and kept really warm, maybe too warm, so I know it will work great in the 25F weather its for. I am 5 ft 8 in and have plenty of length room left, this sleeping bag will easily cover a 6 ft person, i love the top part where I can cover my head, my number 1 sleeping bag now.

This sleeping bag has an inside bag to keep my phone in and a great bag for compressing it and masking easy packing on trips. very good material.

This is a great sleeping bag I like the way that the Compact 25F Mummy Sleeping Bag is made. I like that it will keep you warm for temps down to 25 degrees. I like that it comes with a carrying bag with a rain guard.

I like that you have foot room in the this sleeping bag am 5’10” and sometime I am “hitting bottom with mummy bags and no room to move as muThe sleeping bag is has some extra room and you can use a blanket with it too.

Last but not least the Compact Mummy Sleeping Bag is very comfortable.

This product is great for the backpacking trips I take in the Rocky Mountains during the summertime. I use this with the ENO ultralight setup and the matching Spark Top quilt. I do stay plenty warm but, I am a warmer sleeper and there is also a little bit of a learning curve to understand how to properly use the item to insulate your hammock and stay warm.

There are instructions attached to the item but, they are so so instructions. The picture they show with the item next to a Nalgene bottle is super deceiving. It is about the size of a 65L backpacking pack sleeping bag compartment.

It comes in a bag with no compression straps so I will take up some space unless you have your own compression sack. Overall 4 stars.

I’ve been mostly pleased with my Underquilt. I thought it would cover the whole length of the hammock, and it doesn’t quite get there (just about a foot on each side of a DoubleNest on a SoloPod stand), but that said you’re not really laying in that part of the hammock so it’s probably fine.

It definitely cuts the cold wind on your backside and keeps the hammock experience pleasant even in the 50’s. Haven’t tried it below that. I’m not sure how well it would work if you’re depending on it for warmth while out in the woods, but for lounging on the porch on fall or mild winter days, it works great.

Used this underquilt for my past two camping trips and it works great! Used with a Eno single nest hammock the underquilt was warm and fit the hammock perfectly. I also tried it out with a double nested hammock and also fits great, underquilt covers the back side and comes up on the sides as well which is great for windy days.

I paired this with a light fleece blanket and a 40* rated sleeping bag and was warm all night. Definitely recommend this for late spring/summer/early fall trips. Dipping below 40* might get a little cold, which makes sense since the quilt is rated 40*-60*.

The quality of this ‘wearable sleeping bag’ seems really nice and it’s the warmth I was looking for! I bought it because my apartment is FREEZING in the winter and I’m hoping this helps. That being said, the sizing is extremely weird.

I’m 5’3 and 115 lbs, a small person. I bought the small and it’s so short I can’t wear the booties. When the booties are attached the legs are so tight I can’t bend over. My roommate said it looked like I had hooves.

Seriously, the ‘foot’ shape doesn’t make any sense. When I take off the booties, the legs are really short. The body of the ‘bag’ fits well, so I’m not sure how sizing up would be. This was on sale and I’m not planning to leave the house in it anyway, but it’s disappointing that I won’t be able to use one of the features (especially with my cold feet).

This thing is amazing! The suit is extremely comfortable and warm. I live in a bus so I love drinking some hot tea lounging on my futon/bed and then curling up in my comfy “body bag”. Would recommend it to everyone who likes to stay warm while having the ability to move freely.

Perfect for camping or early spring ball games. You will be the envy of the crowd when they see how nice and comfortable you are and they’re still freezing. Easy to move around in and fit is pretty true to size.

I thought this would be a great idea for hiking. it,s heavy, and on 30-degree night in a tent, I had several cold spots. your hands and feet will be different temps and it’s something you will notice and drive you mad.

While this is a fun idea, you would be warmer and spend less on a full sold weather suit. I couldn’t wait to get off trail and return it. Also, get ready to be the butt of every joke.

Got my bobcat and took it on a weekend hammock trip into the Adirondacks in mid October. It did really well the first night with temps in the low to mid 50’s. I was actually warm enough to not need a blanket on top.

The second night got down into the 30’s and it still kept me plenty warm. The snaps are nice since I was able to close it up a bit more to keep warm. I did notice a slight draft coming from where the “Pancho” cut out is, but a tee shirt stuffed between the quilt and hammock was enough to fix it.

Only real downside was the the shock cord had a couple stitches through it so it wouldn’t pull tight. As long as they stand behind the lifetime warranty I’m not worried about it coming unstitched anywhere.

Overall I’d say is a great balance of warmth, size/weight, and price.

I’m impressed by how warm and comfortable my Bobcat 45 is. I have had it for about a month and a half now and have used it as a poncho, an over quilt, under quilt and in sleeping bag configuration. As an over quilt I was comfortable for a few hours in 40F weather.

I also used it as an extra layer, over my Summer weight sleeping bag (rated down to 45F) and slept warm and cozy all night in 25F weather. My only complaint is that the head opening needs one more snap because the gap between the two snaps it comes with, tends to open and cause a draft.

I added an additional snap in the center of the opening and that fixed the problem. The quilt also tends to shed (molt?) small feathers that work their way through the fabric.

This bag is top notch, from the packaging to the quilt material. You can tell Kammok focuses on quality. I have had the opportunity to us the blanket multiple times (all inside) and will say it is slippery when just in blanket mode.

But, if you synch one end, sleeping bag style, this blanket is almost perfect. The multiple functions of this blanket are what lead me to buy it over others. The only thing I would change is making the poncho neck hole fully sealable, not just teo snaps.

I could feel a breeze from the opening. All in all, amazing blanket that I would buy again right now.

I just used this the night of 4/9/22 in the mountains of eastern Nevada. The temperature got down to 16F, and thankfully I had this sleeping bag, else I’d have woken up dead. That’s if I’d slept at all.

I hit the shucks at about 10pm (there’s debate on the time, since when we were at the cemetery the time was an hour ahead, and the time at the camp was an hour behind, and for the life of us we couldn’t account for the hour difference).

I slept in my synthetic thermals, and at first, at a temp of about 36F, it was so warm and toasty. I felt like I was shivering the whole night through though. Shiver, readjust, doze, shiver, readjust, doze, etc.

, and repeat ad nauseum. That night our 8 gallon jug of water froze in the night. A solid brick of 8 gallons of water frozen solid. While I was in no way whatsoever comfortable down to 18F, I did not freeze.

I survived. This bag is going to make the perfect summer sleeping bag when temps get down to some 40F for my typical locales. I won’t be taking it to the mountains, however.

This is a great value bag for shoulder seasons. I purchased this bag, primarily due to the enticing price point, to replace an old 20 degree bag that had been mistreated and lost almost all loft. I immediately used the bag for a week of camping (tent and open air lean-to) in Baxter State Park in North Central Maine in late September.

Temps dropped into the 40’s and maybe upper 30’s at night, and I was quite comfortable. My only complaint it the zipper is small and routinely gets stuck on the fabric baffle that runs along it when trying to zip in.

We will see how that holds up over time.

i bought this bag for early spring car sleeping in the adirondacks. the bag is cold at 28 degrees. i was using a thick foam sleeping pad by hest. sleeping in my car. luckily i brought a 20 degree flannel bag in addition to wearing many layers.

just picked up a sleeping bag liner by sea to summit, hopefully all this keeps me warm down into the low 20s/high teens. for a heavy bag i wish it were warmer. also it does fit, but its a mummy. so im praying my liner fits with it.

Bough these on sale as spare sleeping bags, and for this price decent value for money. I have a few OZtrail products and usually find their quality good. These sleeping bags are a bit disappointing and have a cheaper feel to them (material, stitching of filling to outer layer) and the storage bags are very poor.

Have only tried them on a mild night so far and they do feel warm, definitely better/warmer than your average stitched through sleeping bags.

Have only rated 3 stars as we are yet to use them and do not want to give a false recommendation. Unfortunately, I couldn’t post my other review without also leaving a review for these sleeping bags.

Ordered 3. Kids were warm through out the night. Only had a tarp over them out in the open field. Great service too.

I’m a big fan of the Valandre quality, and who would not like French mature goose down stuffed in their bag? Unfortunately, the Velcro under the center zipper just does not work for me. The noise of undoing the Velcro when you need to get up and go to do a nature call, and then having the opening for your face centered under the Velcro closure and separate closure tabs just was too annoying.

I would have preferred a simple draft collar under the zipper, not Velcro. Otherwise, the bag is super warm and compact. Unfortunately, I decided to return to Moosejaw, and get another bag less technical.

I would still recommend this bag if that person was an alpinist, and wanted a super warm bag with more technical features.

I used this sleeping every night for the last 6 months with temperatures varying between 20°C and -3°C : the zip on the side is long enough to open it and get some fresh air when it’s too hot outside, and it is warm enough not to freeze when 0°C and a bit below (with a Sea-to-Summit Thermolite Reactor and the sleeping bag’s hood and collar tightly closed).

The brand assures a limit of comfort around -11°C (and even -15°C) but I wouldn’t try without a liner and base layers. ,,The inside shell is REALLY soft and the outside shell seems quite durable (but I got some marks on the part around the feet).

The foot compartment doesn’t seem so warm, it takes a while before to warm them up, even with socks. The ropes for the collar and hood can easily be mixed together in the dark. And this is a spacious sleeping bag, so it means you can turn/move in it but it also means more space to warm up.

Der Schlafsack hat für MICH (geringes Kälteempfinden) gereicht. Er ist richtig gemütlich, was ich von einem ME auch nicht anders erwarte. Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung!.

We purchased these for a cool weather camping trip last October. Nights were only in the high 40s and we were uncomfortably cold. The fabric was cheap and scratchy, and the zipper on one of them broke on first use.

We’re experienced campers and were dressed appropriately. As we are a busy family and have not did not make it back to the store in a reasonable time to return. That’s on us. But I’m not taking these to a donation center so someone else can have a miserable experience.

I’m taking them to a cat rescue organization.

The Quest Rec Series Hybrid 30 degree Sleeping Bag is a great sleeping bag. It is 7 feet long and mummy shaped. It is much wider than a traditional mummy design sleeping bag, which is great since I am a little bigger person.

It has a right-handed 2-way zipper, which is easy to open and close. The sleeping bag has one internal pocket to store items in. The bag is rated to 30 degrees. Since I used it in warm weather, probably 50 degrees at night, it kept me very comfortable.

I was not too hot or too cold. It comes with a carrying case, which is very light. I highly recommend this sleeping bag, especially for camping in the warmer weather.

These are really great sleeping bags, and although they are labeled as Youth size, they are large enough for anyone about 5’6″ and under. The length is 6’1″, so it is only a foot shorter than the adult version.

The colors are beautiful and much more vibrant than displayed online. I was worried the red one would be too orange, but it is a really nice shade of red and the blue is a really nice teal/turquoise color.

Super warm and cozy, zippers are high quality! I got these for my 7 and 9 year old kids, but these will last them well into the teen years. Very happy with the purchase.

TranslateShow in original languageHabe mich für diesen Schlafsack entschieden, um ihn nächstes Jahr bei einer Norwegenwanderung mit Zelt einzusetzen. Bis jetzt habe ich zwei Probenächte darin geschlafen, zwar nicht an der angegebenen Temperaturgrenze, aber in einem kühlen Raum Ende November.

Da war es warm genug, ob es auch im Fjell reicht, wird sich zeigen. Die Nähte sind sauber verarbeitet. Der Innenstoff ist sehr glatt, nicht unangenehm auf der Haut, aber auch nicht wirklich kuschelig.

Bis jetzt sind drei Federn aus dem Inneren gekommen, ich hoffe, es werden nicht sonderlich mehr. Ich bin 176 cm groß und der 175er passt mir perfekt, auch die Füße liegen locker drin. Ich bewege mich nachts auch sehr viel, dabei hatte ich immer ausreichend Platz und musste den Schlafsack nur wenig zurechtrücken.

Das Kissenfach mit Fleecejacke ist sehr angenehm, allerdings wird es für mich schwierig die Krempe übers Gesicht zu ziehen, aber dann kann man die Fleecejacke statt in das Fach unter das Kopfteil legen oder (wenn es warm genug ist) den Kopf uneingepackt oben drauf.

Mit dem Reißverschluss konnte ich mich noch nicht ganz anfreunden: Der Verlauf mit der Fußlüftungsoption ist zwar nett gedacht, ich fand jedoch Reißverschluss unter den Beinen sehr unangenehm und man muss ihn schon relativ weit öffnen um bequem liegen zu können.

Der Anti-Verklemm-Mechanismus funktioniert in 80% der Fälle, was schon nett ist, aber meinetwegen hätte man das Mehrgewicht auch sparen können. Außerdem hat meiner einen kleinen Produktionsfehler: Die Zähnchen sind um 2 seitlich versetzt, wodurch er nicht ganz sauber unten schließt.

Da der Reißverschluss sehr solide ist (was eigentlich ein Pluspunkt ist), kann man es auch nicht einfach zurechtbiegen ohne ihn kaputt zu machen. Es entstehen aber keine Kältebrücken und sonderlich stören tut es nicht, weshalb ich verzichtet habe, ihn deshalb in Retour zu geben, aber es nervt schon ein bisschen, dass man beim Runterziehen am Ende darauf achten muss.

Insgesamt bin ich jedoch zufrieden und freue mich darauf ihn tatsächlich auch draußen zu testen.

TranslateShow in original languageDer beste Schlafsack in dem ich je geschlafen habe, wirklich sehr angenehm. Der einzige kleine Negativpunkt ist ggf. , dass es etwas nach nasser Wolle riechen kann wenn man stark schwitzt.

Das zeigt aber nur dass die Wolle ihren Job macht und vergeht schnell wieder. Ich kann den Schlafsack daher absolut empfehlen.

Vor allen Dingen, wenn man mal schwitzt. Bin 1,72m und habe bewusst die Damenversion genommen. Farbe ist akzeptable und eher farbenfroh als feminin. Meine Bedenken bzgl. Deckenfunktion waren unbegründet.

Reisverschlüsse laufen gut. Das Kopfkissenfach ist zu klein, was mich jedoch nicht so stört, da ich ein Externes nutze. Bin eher eine Frostbeule, so dass ich das Ding vermutlich bis +4°C einsetzten werde.

Lieber eine Lage mehr mitnehmen, als einen Schlafsack mit niedrigerem Komfortbereich. Alles in Allem, ein guter Kauf.
