20 Best Sleeper Sofa Replacement Mattress (2023 Updated)

Arrived on time. I haven’t slept on it yet but it feels firm and the queen size dimensions were perfect for my sofa bed It did expand to the 4. 5inches before 24hrs. At that point I did fold the bed away.

Sitting on the couch itself feels so much nicer that I’m optimistic about getting a night’s rest. I didn’t notice any strange smell to the product.

So far this mattress is feeling much better to my body than the one that i replaced. Would have been nice if the cost was a bit cheaper though.

Unfortunately, this mattress doesn’t look like the photo. We unrolled it and let it breathe, but it looks more like 3″ with squished corners. The foam is very cushy, not firm enough for how thin it is.

We had to fold up several blankets in the couch to keep the cushions from sinking in. We ordered a thicker RV mattress to try. It was hard to find the correct dimensions for a sofa sleeper and this was a perfect length and width, just not depth.

I ordered one for our twin sofa sleeper. Let sit out flat overnight to rise and then slept on last night. Great quality sleep. Didnt feel sofa pullout bars, only comfort!

the mattress was shipped sooner than expected which was fine by me. It came in a long box, approximately 12×12 wide. Flattened. To my surprise when I took it out of the air tight plastic and it regained it’s form it was super comfortable.

You couldn’t even feel the bars from the support from the sofa. Not that you should, but it was nice to change out the old one I had. highly recommend.

while it is very comfortable to sleep on. the website was very misleading. The picture shows for a 3 seater sofa bed. but doesn’t mention this item is a twin until the very end where you have to hit the arrow to read more about the item.

I was going to return this item but I never received the all important email to return the item. I won’t be ordering anything from Hayneedle ever again!!.

We have had this a little over two weeks now. The first week after opening the bed it needs to “off gas”. The smell was overwhelming. But now I have slept on it twice. I can lightly feel the support metal bar underneath.

But still a good nights sleep. So far so good. Let see after the Holidays and how the guests like it.

I purchased this mattress for my RV sofa bed, it fit great, length, width, and thickness. There are other RV specialty stores that sell similar mattress’s at twice the price. I have not had any one sleep on it for a full night yet, however I laid on it for a few hours, and it felt great.

I would buy again and recommend to the RV community.

This was exactly what I was looking for! We needed a seating spot in my son’s room and this fits perfectly. I love that it is so easy to open up into a comfortable bed. We drag it to the living room for some indoor fun lounging and outside into a tent for some play time.

This also works great for when a friend spends the night. Shipping took about a week, and arrived in a much smaller box than you would expect. You have to unwrap it and let it sit for 48 hours before zipping the cover fully closed.

The material looks nice, not generic and wipes off easily. Two adults my size can sit side by side on it when it’s folded into the chair size.

I am really happy with this mattress. I would definitely recommend checking the dimensions and seeing what the size is when folded up so you don’t expect it to be the size of a small sofa or something, but it is exactly what it says it is and works perfectly for what I needed.

We have it in a small loft space with a low slanted ceiling, and it really is a nice seating option in a space where you otherwise would have just been sitting on the floor. It’s comfortable and looks exactly like the picture!.

This is a comfortable mattress, BUT does not fit inside of the sofa sleeper. Unless you plan on leaving your bed out all the time, do not buy this mattress.

This mattress is specifically made as a sofa bed pull out replacement mattress. It must be 4. 5 inches thick in order to be folded back into the sofa itself. Measure your old sofa mattress first, to see what size you need.

My old mattress was a full size, and also was only 4 inches thick. So I ordered the full size replacement. Upon opening the new mattress, it is compressed flat and rolled up for shipping. Once it’s completely unwrapped it will plump up to its exact size within 24 hours.

The is absolutley NO SMELL, other than the slight scent of the new foam. The instructions say to let the mattress fluff up and air out for a day or so, before using it. This is common sense. The foam is of a high quality, but of course it’s support is just as much as you would expect to get from a 4.

5 inch thick mattress on a sleeper sofa frame. The mattress has a cloth zip off cover that can be washed. But its best to protect the mattress with an additional mattress cover, in case of spills, etc.

If you are a heavy or bigger person, you obviously need a thicker foam/coil spring mattress to support your needs, as well as an actual bed with a box spring or platform. Logic being that a 4. 5 inch foam mattress is not supportive for a heavier person.

I bought this mattress to replace an old mattress in an old sleeper sofa. The mattress is firm enough, dense enough, and serves the purpose for what it was intended to be used for. The mattress arrived in a box, in clean and sanitary packaging.

For the cost of this mattress the quality is well worth it. If you expected more, then you have to buy for a more expensive mattress to suit your physical needs. I am very happy with my purchase. I do recomend this item to others.

Big improvement using this on an older sofa bed. I use the original mattress that came with couch under this one and it’s much more comfortable now. This one folds up and stores in the couch as well, which is a big plus! Still sags in the middle slightly but not the fault of the mattress.

Using at summer cottage for occasional guests.

We measured out sleeper sofa, and read measurements on item. The sleeper sofa mattress was almost 2″ narrower than the ad said. We had to return. We used the old saying of, “measure twice, cut once”, and the mattress was still too narrow.

We originally had air bed mattress for our fold out sofa in our Travel Trailer. When the air bed split and was useless we went looking of alternatives and luckily with found this very high quality 4″ mattress.

It worked great for our application because we can simply fold it in have and store it behind the sofa when not using it. With our type sofa cannot leave it on the sofa then fold the sofa back up. On some home sofas you might be able to to do that.

People commented on odor: I did not not notice any odor with this mattress upon opening it up. I had a foam mattress topper once that required you let it air out a few days before using it. Not with this mattress.

These foam mattresses are compressed by a machine to about 50% of their size and vacuum sealed in plastic when you receive it so it will fit in a smaller shipping compartment. When I removed it from the shrink wrap I put it on our bed in the trailer and let it fully expand for a couple days.

No problems at all. One person complained in the reviews that it would not fit back in the original carton. Now you know why. None of them, toppers or mattresses with go back into the original carton for the reason stated above.

Only word of warning for some people; this mattress is quite HEAVY. So if you constantly have to lug it around that might get tiresome. If you only need to move it occasionally, then you’ll be fine. Overall very happy.

great quality! so much value. expands for a few days after it is opened and set on the sofabed frame. i suggest putting this new mattress on the sofabed frame and leave the bed open to expand for two days with no sheets or other matress protector on it.

i did find that once the foam fully expanded it made the height of the new mattress taller than the original spring mattress therefor it makes it a littlew nor challenging to close the sofabed even with jut two cotton bed sheets on this new foam mattress.

i have not yet tried to put on the waterproof mattress cover to see if that makes it harder or impossible to close the bed with anything on top. clearly you could never kleave a comfortor on top of the mattress and close it properly.

First of all, I opened up the package very easily. It came in a box that was not very big. I took it out, laid it across a table in the garage and cut it open, expecting to get this horrible smell that some reviewers reported.

There was virtually no smell. I put my nose next to it, took a whiff, and the only smell I got was a slight hint of that “fabric smell” that new car seats have. I measured the mattress and was a bit small for a queen.

I measured it at around 56″ X 68″ X 4″, a little smaller than advertised. There were indeed gaps around it when I laid it in my sleeper sofa railing, but I could live with it. Comfort was improved over the 21-year old, thin box spring mattress that came with the sleeper sofa.

I could still feel the support rail underneath. Part of the reason for this is that the support mat under the bed dips a little, sagging on either side of the bar. I don’t think any mattress can solve this problem, and still be small and flexible enough to fold into the couch properly, which this one did very well although you notice that it is thicker than the original.

When family comes in town, I will just put the old mattress on the bottom and the new mattress on top temporarily. It feels really good that way. I also put a cardboard box side underneath and it helped as well with firming up the support underneath.

All in all, it was a good buy.

First off I want to say that the only reason I did not give Plush 5 stars for this sofa bed mattress is because it was too thick for my sofa bed. The mattress could NOT be pushed into the couch position.

I believe I have an unusual sofa bed because it is much lighter in weight than the traditional convertible sofas. ( The standard old convertible couch weighs a ton and is a bear to move). With that said: I now devote an entire closet to both this extraordinarily comfortable mattress and 2 pieces of plywood that covers the infamous bar that is quite dangerous for the lower back.

This closet stores the plywood and Plush sofa bed mattress when I have company and need to push my convertible couch into sofa position. P. S. It is VERY important to ensure that you do not detect the bar at all.

Prior to getting Plush’s sofa bed mattress I had thrown a full size futon on the frame. It took a few months and one morning I awoke with a high threshold of pain that took 2 solid weeks of nearly tear filled excruciating pain to recover.

We live in a New York apartment. and a sofa bed is our best option to utilise the space in out one-bedroom. We bought an expensive sofa bed from Apt 2B, and opted for the most expensive option they called “memory foam”, which in reality was not memory foam at all.

Every morning, I felt as if my bones were bruised. It was obviously not a long-term solution. With very fond memories of a latex mattress from many years ago, I started searching the web for one. PlushBeds was the only place that offered a real natural latex mattress specifically for a sofa bed.

The sofa bed mattress is working great. No smell and everyone who has slept on it said it’s very comfortable and has marveled that they can’t feel the bar or any of the structure of the sofa bed. Good night’s sleep for all who have tried it so far.

Will see how long it holds up. Hoping it will for quite a while. Just wish it wasn’t so expensive (hence one star taken off). Had added cost to ship it to Hawaii. But at least PlushBeds was willing to ship it to the islands.

Feels thinner than expected. VERY firm. Not comfortable. Had to purchase a 3 inch mattress topper and pillow top mattress cover to sleep on it. Just no give. A couple mattress toppers for a lot less money would have been better.

Replaced original sofa bed mattress with a Queen Wide Natural Latex Sofa Bed Mattress. This mattress exceeded my expectations. There was no odor, setup was quick and easy. I slept on it all weekend and it was as comfortable as my regular bed.

Did not feel the bars at all. Excellent product will definitely recommend and rebuy when ready to replace the other 2 sleepers in the house. Thank you for an excellent product.

The mattress is exactly as described. It fits my son’s trundle bed. It is soft and comfortable. It arrived quickly. It did need to air out for a day, but after that any new material odor disappeared.

Best Buy ever. We have older sofa beds with spring mattresses that were terrible! Bought these after reading reviews. Fit perfect, are sooo comfy, the sofa still closes!!! Worth it!

Mattress is generally pretty comfortable, both as a couch and as a full-size bed. A couple of issues we had with it: 1. Mattress doesn’t quite fold up as nicely as I’d like it to. One side of the mattress sort of bunches up rather than folding in like the other side.

2. The cover on this mattress is just zipped over the various different components of the mattress itself, meaning that once you unzip the cover you expose the loose bits of cotton padding inside. We had purchased a mattress protector that we were hoping to put between the mattress and the cover – this doesn’t seem like a good idea given what we saw when we unzipped the cover.

All in all, these are smaller details, but for something that is as expensive as this mattress I would have liked to not have to deal with those two issues.

We are using the mattress on a wing arm style dark wooden futon frame, and it looks great. The cover material is of very high quality in appearance, and very comfortable. We do not use our futon as a bed, we use it exclusively as a couch.

This is the first futon mattress we have found that actually folds properly on a frame and gives you the couch feel, not a folded mattress feel. (It uses a hinge system to accomplish this). It also has inner springs which makes it a true couch feel, no more saggy foam/stuffing seat.

The back is also very supportive as there are springs there too I believe. This maker has performed magic, this is not your spare room, college dorm mattress!.

I love this mattress. My old futon mattress was worn and no longer comfortable. This Kodiak mattress is firm yet comfortable. I love the color and that I didn’t have to fret over a mattress covering.

I don’t sleep on mine though it is available if I have guests but overall, my family is super happy and I love how it looks in my living room.

The buying experience through houzz was great- no complaints there (although their link to complain about the product didn’t work), but I’m really unhappy with the product itself. The mattress is about 6 inches too short for a standard queen futon frame.

It is lumpy and hard as a rock. I’ll need to spend several hundred dollars just to make this mattress comfortable enough for guests to sleep on. The 1 positive about this mattress is that it smells pleasant.

There are no chemical fumes coming from it, which is nice.

I’ve found the Bio Sleep Concept Luxury All Natural Wool Futon Mattress (twin size) to be very comfortable, with a medium firm feel. When I first lay down it’s somewhat firm, but then it conforms slightly, and yet II don’t feel like I’m sinking into it, but rather just becoming “at home”.

It returns to shape quickly and is easy to change positions at night, however, instead of constantly changing positions all night (like I used to do), I now quickly go to sleep. It seems to be temperature neutral, so not a hot sleep.

The materials and workmanship are top notch. It came rolled up, but not overly compressed, so when laid flat it had opened fully within a few minutes. There was a very slight smell when opened. However, not an unpleasant or chemical smell, but more like what you would expect cotton and wool to smell like when rolled up for a while.

It was mostly gone after a few hours, and completely gone after a few days. I was worried it might be too soft, but it really is “just right”. I’m mostly a side sleeper, and this gives my hips and shoulders the give they need, while giving the rest of me the support I need.

I’m very happy with this purchase.

The mattress looks like it’s of good quality. I bought this because it’s made of toxic free materials and of the reviews. The mattress arrived with some holes near the tufted areas of the mattress and feels firm, not the “cloud” like comfort I was I expecting based on other reviews I have read.

My husband and I both tried to sleep on the mattress and both felt it was uncomfortable. I haven’t tried it as a futon yet. I am thinking of returning it.

These pee pads were hard for me to rate. The are a larger size than regular ones, but they are VERY thin and fragile. The first one I used leaked through. Subsequent ones have not, though. They look quilted, but so does toilet paper.

They are basically like a paper towel attached to a sheet of very light plastic. If you have dogs that gently step on, squat, and step off, they should be fine. But if a dog does a kick-dance after using it or likes to do some rotations before peeing, it will be in shreds.

Next time I will probably try to find a heavier version of this size.

Been getting 28 pads instead of 30 pads and a lot of plastic on ends than filler even after pads are short !! Otherwise pleased but I want what was advertised as far as size !! Quality control needs to check out whats being made before sticking it in a box !! I think I should be compensated for my last few orders since I order 300 at a time !!.

Great for my baby boxer (or any pup). absorbent, does not leak thru. Great price for size and amount. I also use these for my 4 year old boston terrier if I am going to be delayed in walking her or for middle of the night emergencies.

I put one in my plastic doggie litter box which they have been trained to use. Of course they love going out to go, but they never have to worry about having to go.

BEWARE OF FALSE ADVERTISING!! We thought this would be a great purchase, however, are extremely disappointed in this futon mattress. First of all, we don’t see the point in the zipper which would enable you to remove the very thin fabric for cleaning purposes because what is inside – what they call a mattress – is just some sort of filler that would literally fall apart if you took it out of the cover.

We were shocked at what we saw. Unfortunately for us, we did not get into our new home until after the return period was over so never unpacked it until now. With that, we decided we would just keep it and spend another $100 plus for a true zippered futon mattress cover to protect this thing from falling apart.

After finding a cover we liked on-line, we needed to enter the the futon mattress thickness in inches for the proper fit – they range from 6,8,10,12 + inches. As we prepared to place our order for a cover that would fit a 10″ mattress, we thought we better measure the Blazing Needles product to be certain it is indeed 10 inches as the ad states.

We were not surprised to find it MEASURES ONLY EIGHT INCHES!! Complete deception and utter disappointment. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND ARE VERY DISPLEASED WE ARE NOW STUCK WITH IT NOT TO MENTION OUT $130 PLUS THE COST OF ANOTHER COVER.

I love the color. It is truly a beautiful color, like a bright pink azalea flower. However, I didn’t realize the futon mattress would be as thin as it is. I am going to try to figure out a way to make it plusher.

The shipping and packaging were excellent, arrived early and packed well. I would recommend this only for a very slim adult.

The futon material smells like pot and has no bulk to it. It slides off when in the upright position. This particular product is nasty. I had to make my own way to keep it in place. I’ve had futons before and this one does not measure up.

We have been sleeping on the stock mattress that came with our RV which was very uncomfortable. We decided to go with the Short Queen, 10 inch thick foam mattress and all I can say is WOW! Very comfortable.

Not to soft and not to hard. Also RecPro’s service is very good. Shopped around and they had the best price. Shipping was great also. The mattress actually came before the quoted time. Don’t worry about the mattress being shipped in a box.

We took on chance on this mattress because nothing could have been worse than what was in our camper. I’m happy to say it was a chance worth taking! The mattress is quite comfortable and very lightweight, which is excellent for the RV and under bed storage.

We replaced the standard queen in our fifth wheel with this standard queen and it was the first time our backs didn’t hurt the next day!.

Came put of the box and expanded to full size almost immediately! It is a little tighter on the sides than expected (ie, our bed has wardrobes on each side and it is tough to get the fitted sheet on at the top).

We had a memory foam pad from our last mattress that we put on top so I can’t really evaluate the feel of just the mattress but the set up worked well for us.

I didn’t buy this on Amazon but I just had to comment being that I am thinking of buying another. Great mattress, people! Cushy but supportive. WAAYY better than that Casper mattress that the internet advertisers keep going on about.

You can sit on the edges of this futon and not sag down, unlike the Casper. This one also holds up well to time and daily use. Not recommended for a mattress that you want to use as a sofa option- this one is suited as a bed and I sleep on it every night.

Highly recommended- I have bought much more expensive items from futon shops but this has been surprisingly better.

This mattress is Phenomenal! Its thick, sturdy and comfy. Easy to get in and out of. Holds up to my plus size figure. Even though its memory foam I never feel my bed frame and the foam has not sagged either.

I am very pleased with our new moonshadow futon mattress.I glad I spent the extra money. It will be great for both seating and sleeping.

We have only had the mattress for a couple of weeks, but so far it seems to be a great deal. Feels somewhat firm initially, but ultimately, it cradles you well, providing good support while still letting you sink in.

I can be a hot sleeper and I have not noticed any heat build-up as can be the case with some memory foam mattresses or toppers. It is heavy, so I do recommend you get it close to where you will use it before breaking the seal.

My lovely wife acted as if it were Christmas morning, opened the mattress in the landing at the bottom of the stairs. Why that location? It remains a mystery. Big mistake as it became my job to move the now fully expanded king sized mattress to the bedroom.

Regardless the price, it is comfortable. Considering the good price, I think it is a great deal.

A little softer than what I wanted but still very comfortable to sleep on. We are switching from a Tempurpedic mattress so I was not expecting the best quality at this price point. However the quality is very good for the price.

No warranty info came with the bed nor any instructions but you dont need them really. The edges are not reinforced so the bed is not that great to sit on the edge to put your shoes on and you do get a slight doming feel from the top but again at this price all of this is acceptable.

Worth the money is the bottom line.

I’ve had the same mattress for about ten years and it had definitely seen better days, so time to get a new one. I bought this one and put it on one of those steel frames (no box spring) and love it! It’s soft enough to relax, but firm enough to keep your body from forming the crater effect.

Had my first actual good night’s rest in over four months.

This is so unfomfortablr. It’s like someone stuffed cotton inside mattress. Also the little dimples throughout the mattress are made up of WHITE. not black retangular plastic pieces that pop off very easily.

Looks super tacky. Bed is SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE. I wish I never purchased this item.

This mattress smells worse than a fresh can of varnish. I suspect it is flame retardant that is necessary to make the cotton cover meet the federal flammability standard. It is also only 4 inches thick.

It is manufactured by wolf mattress. the name Serta appears nowhere. I was lucky enough to be able to return it to a store. If you cannot, I do not recommend purchase as it is extremely difficult to repackage for return.

We ended up purchasing a mattress from big lots and are very happy with it.
