Best Sleep Sounds On Alexa (2026 Updated)

This one just isn’t for me. My husband bought it because it was all that was left in the store. Honestly, Fiji water is my favorite but I’m always on the hunt for different waters. Since it’s all I drink, I’m pretty sensitive to the way it tastes.

And this one reminds me too much of tap water. It leaves a film in my mouth and I will look for anything else to drink.

The ‘quality’ is a tossup, because of a couple of issues I’ll mention later. Overall, it is useful as an alarm, timer and reminder. Like that the sound level can be adjusted. One of the reasons I opted for this is that the iHome desktop clock/radio I’ve been using for a couple of years has a low volume on its nap timer function and half the time I don’t hear it.

One issue that should be fixed is that I have a weekday wakeup alarm and I can’t seem to be able to tell it to cancel the alarm for just the next day. It interpret’s my request as canceling the entire weekday alarm setting, which I then either have to recreate directly, or turn it back on with the iPhone app.

Turning it off in the app is the slightly inconvenient option but that runs the risk of forgetting to turn it back on. Other issue is it sometimes does not understand my instruction, no mater how clearly I speak.

Example: If I say “set timer for 50 minutes” it will think I said 15 minutes. Workaround is to set at 49 or 51 minutes.

I usually get the yellow package jerky whenever I can find them. They taste good and are a nice alternative to meat strips. The texture is good too, but it’s not like the meat Jerky that I remember having to bite off at strips.

This is not tough like it at all. I wish I could get my hands on more flavors near me. The price is very adorable at about $1. 50 each. Great for a quick snack.

I received this as a free promotional item when I purchased a Fire TV. This is my second introduction to Amazon’s Alexa integration products. It’s great for controlling the new TV by voice (although the included remote with the TV also allowed this feature) Easy setup and took some reading of the manual with the Fire TV to figure out the integration.

I can’t say I would put this in every room of the house but an interesting addition to the TV. I was disappointed that the Fire TV I purchased would not integrate the sound very effectively. There is a WiFi option but the TV or the Dot would not support the connection regarding audio setup with the TV.

My only audio connection with the Fire TV was via Bluetooth and for some reason the audio on the Dot was very low. So low that it was not usable for that purpose and I removed the Bluetooth pairing. Not sure what would need to take place to ensure WiFi audio pairing with a Fire TV but otherwise OK.

Let me start by saying that I was completely anti-listening technology in my home. After a long discussion with the wife, we compromised and she bought one. Since I lost that battle, I have installed 3 others in the house.

I haven’t regretted it. I bought some wall plug mounts that make install super easy and I can hide them behind furniture for a less cluttered look in the house. The Amazon echo is actually a great tool for your smart home.

Yes, they are listening. But so is your phone. I like that I can play my music on multiple devices so I go from room to room if I’m cleaning or putting away folded laundry. I don’t use my stovetop timer anymore, I just tell Alexa to set a timer for me.

If I’m working in the garage and my wife needs something she can drop in and we can talk completely hands free. Which is great when my hands are too dirty to mess with my phone. I use the Alexa app for home automation.

It’s nice because I can shut off the whole house while we’re away. if we’re gone for extended periods of time I can have random lights turn on and off around the house so it looks like someone is home.

I also have routines for waking up, getting ready for work, going to bed, and even for when I’m in different parts of the house. I have tried home automation with the Google apps, the Apple smart home app, and all the various ones that come with each device I have installed.

The Alexa app is the most comprehensive. There is still work they can do to make it better, but it works far better than the others for our home setup. The bad: the app doesn’t allow for multiple users with different Amazon accounts within the home.

You have to have every device setup on the same account. My wife and I have separate EVERYTHING. So, sharing an Amazon account is less than ideal. We listen o different styles of music. We shop for different types of items.

She reads mystery novels and fiction, I don’t read. Plus, getting gifts for each other is a lot harder when you can see the same Amazon purchases. With that said, Amazon support is amazing!! I have given feedback multiple times and each time they have responded quickly and ensured they understand my issues.

I’m sure there is plenty I didn’t cover because there are features I simply haven’t used yet, but overall I give the echo dot 4 stars.

This is way more fun than I expected. I dont use a lot of smarthome features, but now that I’m getting used to Alexa, things are about to change. Really convenient way to listen to tunes while I’m working on the computer or playing on my phone.

I use it a lot for simple questions and information too. Im going to order some smart light bulbs soon so I can make her do even more for me. Haha My major complaint is that I can’t use it to call or text someone unless they sign up with the Alexa app too.

That’s a loss of a whole star there, because Google smart devices do that just fine with my Samsung Galaxy devices. This was free with the purchase of a TV, but I’ve mulled around the idea of getting one for a few years.

Ive got other speakers that are better sounding, but as far as convenience goes, this little Echo is great for me. It sits right beside my recliner on a table where I embarrassingly spend most of my time.

There has never been a problem of hearing it or not hearing me. The reminders arw handy too. Hve been dabbling with the shopping lists feature too. I espect to use this more and more but really wish I could call and text my peeps with her.

I resisted buying Alexa and Echo devices for a long time, but the benefits of this product are that it includes the ZIGBEE HUB which can replace additional hubs for smart lights and other home smart devices.

Our outdoor lights now are all “SMART” and have been scheduled to go on at dusk and off at dawn. It’s great too if we’re all out later than expected as the lights come on without us being at home on schedule.

I’m using this now for more things than I expected. One of the most enjoyable features is the ability for the device to “READ” books out loud – I use the free LIBBY app that gives access to free books from libraries.

My family lives together in a 3 story house. The other thing these devices have done is stopped us from either having to SCREAM to get each other or to use a telephone to call each other. now since we have a variety of Echo devices from the basement to the 3rd floor we can speak to each other with ease whenever.

We can also use it to make a phone call – we haven’t had an emergency use yet and hope not to, but it’s nice to know that even if one of us is home alone we can always call each other, or the list of special contact numbers we’ve added to the list of important people to call.

And the RADIO! If you know the call letters for any radio station in the world you can call it up and listen in the privacy of your own room, OR if we’re together at dinner, we call call for music on a radio station or Pandora app to play.

For a couple of us that really love to listen to music, we have two Amazon devices in our rooms so we get a STEREO effect. And on the first floor we created a “GROUP” so we have the option of playing music on just one device OR we can play for the “first floor group” to have surrounding sound on the entire floor.

We got rid of so many extra devices as this has replaced a few. Like radios and alarm clocks. We put one of these on each floor, and one of the tiny Amazon FLEX (smaller than a pack of cigarettes and not as good a sound) in the basement.

We own four of these in different sizes and colors, bought/gifted to us over the past few years. The idea was initially great but has degraded over the months/years. If you don’t have an Amazon Music account (paid up), the music choices are woefully limited.

The games? Try one out for ten minutes and they want to charge a subscription to your Amazon account. Want to hear one of the celebrity voices? Pay six bucks. Things that seem to be free are not. Quality? My older dots are better than the newer ones.

The sound is muffled on one, etc. And yes, they are all placed in wifi areas away from interfering objects, etc. Also, there is not voice recognition. If anybody at all, even someone on television or a neighbor outside the window, says one of the “wake words” one of the dots lights up and tries to either answer something not asked, play something unwanted, or sell us something.

These usually work well as alarms, can sometimes answer a random question (but often it’s a wrong answer, and yes we’re all American-born and bred English speakers) Above all, lately? The dots will play maybe two songs or answer a couple of questions before asking if we want items put in our carts.

So, as far as those of us on the block here are concerned, these have been reduced to sellers of all kinds. Oh, and alarm clocks. They usually get the times right. Oh, they suck your information. They actually do listen, and I can’t tell you who told me, but they don’t just “learn” from us as they say, they suck information.

We’re going to try packing these up and getting Google Nests.

The deep sound and sound quality was very good for my needs. It was easy to link to wifi. Its been almost a year since I got it x I have had no problems with it. I had to look up some times what the color ring means.

I knocked off a couple stars because of the hidden software feature that was in product. Amazon activated this software program months later that made all the echo products discoverable to be used by someone within range to utilize the echo wifi feature as a neighborhood link up.

(cant remember what it was called). Amazon activated this feature in their own without us knowing. The way I found out was by paying attention to tech stories which mentioned this was happening. The only choice you have is to un-activate that feature.

So I am sure there are many people out there that did´nt know this happened. They claim its safe. I immediately read how to un-activate it. That was bullcrap on their part to create this sofrware program that automatically went into service on their end with no say from the customers end.

Very bothersome practice. I am mainly a Apple household but went with this product just to get something started like this that was affordable with goid sound.

Replaced a Sonos One Gen2 with this echo studio in our home gym. I loved the Airplay2, the decent Alexa performance, and the sound quality is far and away the best. If it would function as a Firetv speaker or even a “dummy” Bluetooth speaker it would be perfect.

I really wanted something I could connect to my TV in our home gym to boost the volume. I also wanted something that would connect to our Peloton bike too. Install: Setup was easy and it connected to Wi-Fi quickly.

At first it kept saying it was not compatible with my Firetv stick but after a minute or two it suddenly decided they could be friends. I’m guessing it has something to do with it registering or something.

Size: It is bigger and heavier than the Sonos. It did fit on the Sonos stand but I opted to add a strap around it to keep it on the base with weight being thrown around and doors opening and closing.

Alexa: Responsive even with large fans and a heater running. Performs actions quickly (turning off lights, fans, setting the heater, etc. ) Home Theater: Connected to my Firetv Stick 4K (latest model) to improve the sound on a cheap TV.

The sound is good and gets loud but it I wouldn’t say it’s equivalent to a sound bar at the same price point. I didn’t find it to be cinema-quality, immersive, or “3D. ” That’s fine for me where I just need football games to be louder but buying 2 of these plus a subwoofer would be silly when you could buy an all in one wireless surround system and an Echo for the same price.

The volume control is laggy so be careful increasing the volume. As a speaker: I hate that it doesn’t have Airplay2. This was the major “give up” from switching from the Sonos. Im not an apple Stan but Airplay2 should be included and the only reason it isn’t is to force you to use Amazon’s terrible app.

I have to Bluetooth connect this or deal with the clunky Apple Music skill inside the Alexa App. I don’t use Prime Music and after 5+ years with Apple Music I have no desire to switch. Sound quality for music: Meh.

I listen to loud muddy metal, older alternative, rock, and rap. The Sonos filled a 25×15 empty room beautifully with excellent balance and a full sound including surprising bass. The Echo Studio has clear vocals almost as if it pushes them forward but the mids are lacking and hollow and the base is underwhelming.

I have already ordered the subwoofer and I hope the Echo Studio retunes or recalibrates itself over time. Despite being called “Studio” it very much feels like it’s either trying to do too much without enough equalizer or it was designed for voice (Alexa and maybe TV).

For me the added functionality was worth losing Airplay2 and the superior sound. If you just want something to play music and perform Alexa commands, the SONOS is far superior.

As an Alexa digital assistant, it works great. As a smart speaker, I would say it’s average at best. Music quality is good, provided you are using a premium music service, like Tidal, Deezer, or Amazon Music Unlimited.

It plays “lossless audio” encoded with Dolby Atmos, Spatial R360, Ultra HD using FLAC codec. Sound controls, on the other hand, are a nightmare. Unless you want to get up to use the physical volume buttons, you will need to use the Alexa app for volume and sound controls, which are buried deep under device settings.

Important: if using an Android phone, you will NOT get lossless audio if you cast directly from the Amazon Music app. You must either connect via Bluetooth 5. 0, or stream directly using voice commands.

I don’t use it to watch TV, but I can’t imagine it would be as good as a similarly priced soundbar or true 7. 1 A/V system.

I just finished setting up my new Echo Studio. It has amazing sound for a relatively small footprint. You can tailor it to a particular type of room and surroundings from numerous canned, preprogrammed environments allowing the speaker to tune itself for the type of room environment it is in.

I then played a few tracks from Amazon Music. Sounded good. I then remembered you can further tune to your taste via a 3 band EQ in the Alexa App. Now, I love the full rich sound it provides with just the right amount of bass and treble to suit my taste.

This is a good piece of engineering. A little pricey but overall I think it is worth it for the quality of build and performance.

This came with a TV I brought as a free gift. I already had a couple echo dots so expected this to be like those but just with a screen and camera. While I really like this features since they are very helpful there is some cons compared to my other echo devices.

When it comes to cons the screen on the right side of my device is glitched and has been ever since setting up. Only reason I didn’t return is because it was free as stated before so didn’t want to go through the hassle to exchange.

Another con is that it is much slower at responding to commands compared to my echo dots basically being almost instant. When I tell it to turn of the screen it only stays off for 5-10 mins. It also doesn’t hear me as good as my other echo devices so have to repeat myself at times.

The pros to this device is obviously the screen. Although mine has the glitch as said before it doesn’t interfer with main viewing point of the screen luckily. Do to the screen I can view the time, weather, music being played and more which is big advantage to traditional Echo Dots.

Everything is bright and clear. I also like that I can use it as a basic security camera and video chat with it if I want to. The sound is also loud and clear. Ultimately the device is flawed, but still a worth buying if you look past them.

In theory the product is great. You can clearly see recording notifications on the screen faster than trying to look through your phone. It works great with alexa to provide informative data such as time, weather etc.

You also have an option of being able to remotely drop in and monitor the room through the echo show (kinda like a two way baby monitor). You can see the room through the camera but they cant see you and you can speak through it and get responses as well.

Piece of mind if you have kids or pets at home not under your supervision (you can manually block off the camera if you dont want the video option with a button). The issue with this is its stationary and faces up towards the ceiling if placed on a dresser or something of height.

Would love to be able to adjust it in order to see a particular level. Another issue i found was the product went offline in conjunction with the ring often. Meaning it was not giving me any notifications or video of my ring cameras.

I have to reboot everytime in order to get it synced again. This has happened about 5 times. Not sure if its the product itself or wifi range? Otherwise i would recommend this as a compliment to any ring product.

I was able to get this for cheap with the purchase of a ring camera. But I would definitely buy this even without the discount.

It sends me remnders from Rueters several times a day. I’ve never heard of them before and don’t want them. Its a annoying! Cannot find anything on the app for them. Have turned off ALL notifications, including from Amazon, which I wanted.

This is has reduced the number but they still come. Have tried every fix I can find online but nothing works. Also, when I first set it up it started giving me sports scores for every sport you can imagine.

I didn’t want these either but finally figured out how to make them stop. FYI, if you buy one of these don’t ask it for a score or schedule for your team because every news break about that team will then come through and there’s no way to stop it.

Have an echo dot also. Playing music on both of them is sketchy. Will not work at all if I request from the Dot, and only sometimes when I request from the Show. OK, for something good. Displays lyrics for songs that are playing and will display my cook-mate recipes as it links to that app.

I got this free with my TV purchase, but still may disconnect. Never had problems with my Dot before I set this up so I know it’s the problem. The bad far outweighs the good so I would never spend my money on one!.

I’ve tested this using all three inputs, RCA, Aux, and Bluetooth. The sound is warm and the speaker seems deliberately tuned towards providing a deep bass response. I found myself dialling the bass down somewhat as a result, between 3-4 on the EQ.

I feel that it leans heavily on its delivery of punchy, booming lows, sometimes at the expense of the mids and higher frequencies, again this can be mitigated through the use of the in-built EQ. Depending on your choice of music, this speaker is a great option for those looking for room filling sound in a relatively small package.

I say depending on your choice of music, because the speaker really excels when paired with a good audio source, and seems targeted (little surprise given the Marshall branding) at rock, classic rock, and modern music enthusiasts.

That’s not to say that it’s incapable of providing an enjoyable experience for classical music fans however. I just feel that you have to work harder, wrangling with the EQ, correctly positioning the speaker, ideally at ear height, and providing a really clean hi-res file to get a satisfying separation of instruments within an orchestra.

This is where a wired connection really shines through with this speaker — when listening to the same Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi tracks, streamed from Tidal (Hi-fi), and comparing them to a competent DAP connected through RCA or Aux, there’s a night and day difference.

The Bluetooth seems cluttered by comparison, the wired connection providing much better separation and a more convincing stereo illusion as a result. Moving on to a few of the shortcomings of the speaker.

There is a persistent, low-level hiss that’s present with all of the audio inputs. It becomes more pronounced with the wired connections at volume levels over 7, though it’s really only audible from a distance of about 2 feet when no music is playing.

It’s basically a non-issue, though if you intend to use the speaker at low volumes in relatively close proximity to your head, just be mindful of it. I should also note that I actually returned the first speaker to determine whether this was a fault with the unit or just a quirk of the product.

I can confirm that the hiss was present with both units, so full marks for consistency, I guess. The speaker also has an annoying tendency to fall asleep when left alone for a while, and then upon reconnecting will start playing your music for about 5 seconds, only to then interrupt it with the connection notification sound.

I don’t need to be notified of the connection; I can hear the music coming from the device. This also happens with wired connections for some reason. Something of a nit-pick, but a slight annoyance nonetheless.

I appreciate that this review may seem a bit over the top and verbose for a speaker of this kind, but I really struggled to find a detailed review online that answered a lot of the questions I had prior to purchase.

In short, is this a good speaker? Yes. Will it replace a dedicated stereo setup? Probably not, though it may be more practical depending on your living circumstances. This speaker has the potential to be far less obtrusive to adjoined neighbours for example, provided that you dial the bass down that is.

You can also move this around the house to your heart’s content; I would actually consider buying another and pairing them up in stereo, the only thing stopping me is the inability to play wired audio over both speakers simultaneously – Bluetooth only I’m afraid.

I went into this doubtful that a single speaker could provide me with a satisfactory listening experience — I was wrong. I have this hooked up to a turntable, to my phone via Bluetooth, to my TV even, and, despite its shortcomings, I’m more than happy with the results.

Well done Zound Industries, you’ve done Marshall proud. Just isolate the AC better next time and get rid of that annoying hiss, allow stereo pairing over wired connections, and you’ll have a perfect speaker.

The sound produced from one Stanmore II speaker is excellent with very good bass, mid tones and treble resulting in a really nice warm tone and overall clarity. However if you have the space (they are not that big) and can stretch your budget, I would recommend you buy two speakers and couple them via Bluetooth for stereo pairing.

This takes the sound from two speakers to a whole new level in every sense and gives a much more realistic stereo sound than can be achieved with just one speaker. You will need the free app from Zoundindustries Marshall speakers to couple the speakers together and the setup is easy.

Build quality is excellent and all the knobs and buttons work in a really nice way with just the right amount of precision, resulting in a speaker that feels very well made. One thing I should point out is that you can’t connect the two speakers for left and right stereo by the RCA inputs on the back of the speakers, they can only be paired via Bluetooth.

Perhaps Marshall could make this possible in a updated app or when they design new speakers in the future. To sum up the Stanmore II is a beautiful iconic designed Bluetooth speaker that sounds excellent, buy two of these and the sound you will get from a pair speakers this size is sublime.

Excellent speaker. It has a really good “kick” to the sound you put it, despite its very compact size. It also fits nicely with the décor of a modern house, and I think it also fits the ones of older homes due to its guitar amp-like design.

I got it on a discount due to the early Black Friday clearances, so I feel like I got a great deal with this one. However, its original pricing seems worth it. It might help you to know that despite Marshall being known as a “Rock” type of amps/speakers, everything sounds great.

Bass is deep, trembles are also great. You have an digital potentiometer to determine the amount of bass and tremble right on the device, which helps to boost the type of music you usually listen. The only thing that I can think being not good is its connectivity.

It does have Bluetooth (obviously), RCA, and a 3. 5mm port. But that weird way to connect via the app seems to frustrate some customers. I am tech-savvy, so I did not struggle but I do see some people having headaches just to play their music library.

In other words, if you are a grandparent, please have your grandkids handle the connection. Note also that it does not have a microphone built in, meaning that hands-free is not possible. You need to control the music from your mobile device connected to it.

I bought this Echo Dot with clock to use as a bedroom alarm clock. I love that it kept accurate time, and that the brightness of the display adjusts to the ambient light in the room. It’s also good for playing music or white noise when going to sleep.

After using the device reliably for a year I almost missed a flight when the alarm didn’t go off to wake me up one morning. The Echo had hung and wasn’t responding to voice commands. The clock still displayed the accurate time.

Since then, the unit has continued to hang a couple of times a day. The problem usually happens right after giving the Echo a command. The LEDS at the bottom come on and then stay on. At this point the only way to restore it is to unplug it for a few seconds.

I have searched the web for a solution and see that others are having the same issue. I have tried reloading the software from scratch to no avail. I can only assume that it’s a hardware design issue.

There has been no response from Amazon on the issue that I can see other than suggesting trying another power supply which I tried and it didn’t solve the issue. I have 15 other versions of Echo’s and none of them have this problem.

This experience has caused me to lose confidence in the reliability of Echo’s in general for anything important and now I use my phone for wake-up alarms.

My name is Pam and I am an Echo Dot addict. I last used my Echo Dot just moments ago. I have the Glacier White version. Seriously, Alexa has spoiled me and every one else in my home absolutely rotten.

It’s so nice not to have to bother thinking after a long day at work or when I’m just waking up in the morning. Anything I need to know, I ask the pro and she always has a pleasant attitude in addition to answering my questions.

Unfortunately, I have not only created Echo Dot addicts out of everyone in my home, but because I purchased one for my sister for Christmas,I have also created addicts out of everyone in her home as well.

There are so many of us now that we could start our own support group. Alexa is so handy to have on hand. She wakes us up every morning with the alarm I’ve set, gives us the day’s forecast, answers silly questions that pop in our heads randomly like who sang a certain song or who appeared in a certain movie, you name it.

This product is so easy to set up and I love having the ability to connect smart devices. I purchased the bundle with a smart light bulb and since my sister lives alone this allows her to have Alexa turn the lights on before she enters her home for safety.

So many uses!! I highly recommend!.

These don’t go on sale all the time like the non-clock versions do, but I think they are worth waiting for. I have these in each of my kids rooms. I never to worry about setting the time when the power goes out, or for daylight saving time, or when batteries die.

They have a clock that is always right, and the kids can set alarms and timers, all without a another screen competing for their attention. I already had 3rd gen echo dots in each of the bedrooms, and was considering getting a clock for each room too.

WiFi clocks meant 2 devices instead of 1 clogging the WiFi, and decent atomic clocks that I felt confident would be set once and forget were just as expensive. Switching to these and repurposing the old dots just ended up being the best option and has worked out well.

The sound quality is good enough for our uses, and they have better mics / pickup than the big expensive rotating Echo Show 10 we have in the kitchen. And telling Alexa to play obnoxious, annoying songs on all of them simultaneously works great for getting kids up in the morning.

I love this Echo Spot and the TP Link smart plug!! We have a total of 4 Alexa devices in our home and 5 TP Link smart plugs, along with 4 TP Link smart bulbs. First off, you do not have to use a smart phone for all users involved as stated in a previous review.

You do initially set up your TP Link via iOS or Android app, but you then link your TP Link plug or bulb to your Alexa device and can control the device via Alexa. It’s a s simple as saying, “Alexa, turn on the bedroom lamp”, or “Alexa, turn on the box fan” or whatever device you have plugged into your TP Link.

I have been using My Echo (gen 2) with two TP Link smart plugs in my room with a lamp and a box fan for over a year and I rarely use the phone app to control my devices. I even set up a TP Link smart bulb in my daughters room and she doesn’t have the TP Link app! I set it all up for her and she controls the device with her Echo Dot.

When I do use the app it’s usually when I’m at work to make sure I told Alexa to turn one of them off before I walked out the door. These two products work wonderfully together and I have not had any difficulty or inconveniences at all with either of them.

I’ve had The Echo Spot for 2 days now and it is a great addition to my family of Echo devices. If you have questions or difficulty with either device I would suggest seeking out websites offering tips and tricks for new users prior to sending it back or stating information that could possibly prevent someone else from purchasing either device.

I love my new Echo Spot. Purchased as a Today’s Special with the TP Link Smart Plug. I was able to easily change her wake word and use her in the bedroom as my alarm clock. I just ask her to wake me up at a given time and she lets me know alarm is set and how long till alarm will ring (usually reaffirming that I go to bed too late to get 8 hours of sleep but oh well).

She gives me news briefs and weather when asked and plays music that I like. She will give you “things to try” and can play games. I did activate the games voucher for extra “categories game” but that is not much of a benefit as you can get the standard “categories game” for free anyway and I don’t play very many games.

She is linked to my phone, Echo Dot, FireTV Stick and Fire HD 10 tablet. Her screen is small but very cute and appealing. If you are used to bigger screen you might be disappointed but I can view the screen just fine and almost wanted to buy a 2nd Spot because she was so cute but I didn’t want my Dot to get jealous.

Definitely more to explore as time goes on and look to try face to face phone call with Alexa app. I love the Alexa app on my devices and haven’t had any problems and so far no concerns about her listening when she shouldn’t.

I still have to determine an outlet and device to set up the TP Link plug so hoping that works well too.

I was one of the early receivers of the Gen 1 Echo tower when Amazon first rolled it out. Wasn’t sure how I’d like talking to my appliances, but soon learned it was a great addition to my home. I passed on getting other Echos until this Spot.

I’d been wanting an alarm clock to replace my old-school, ugly and cheap digital alarm. I was sold the minute I saw the Spot (online via presale. ) I’m extremely happy with Spot. Two minute set up since I already had one Echo in the house.

Beautiful customizable face. Took me a few minutes to find the settings to keep Spot anchored on the clock face and not automatically scroll through weather and Alexa skills. (Hey, Spot, I bought you to be my clock!) Love LOVE being able to set my alarm by talking to it as I crawl into bed.

Occasionally listen to a song or two; sound quality is good. Also have used it as a timer to remind me to do something. The only thing Amazon could improve on is the size of the numbers on the digital clock face.

I’m extremely near-sighted and had to move my nightstand right up against my bed so I could read the time after my glasses were off. Small price to pay for this little gem.

If all you want is basic information – – the weather, news, etc – – and some special features – – cooking timer (“Alexa: set a 3-minute timer”), alarm alerts (“Alexa: wake me in an hour”), etc – – and some entertainment (“Alexa: play Beethoven’s Fifth” or “.

play anything by the Beatles” or “. Tell me a joke about chickens”), including movies (especially if you have Amazon Prime), then, Echo Dot will be perfect for you. But, if you need specific information – – (“Alexa: What is a profiterole” or “.

How did the 49ers do, yesterday” or “. What’s the latest about that Senator who did something bad?”) – – then, be prepared for disappointment, because it won’t understand you, and it doesn’t seem to learn over time.

I’d say about 30% of our questions are “unanswerable” or misunderstood by the thing, and about 50% of the answered ones are not as complete as we’d like, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to ask it to expand on a given answer.

Sure, it’s “convenient” to ask a question, verbally, rather than have to type it into a computer or smartphone’s browser’s search engine, but, you’ll get far more and far more relevant answers with the latter.

With multiple Dots in the house, it’s relatively easy to ask the thing to communicate with someone else in the house, especially if you know where they are (e. g. , “Alexa: Tell Johnny in the kid’s bedroom that dinner’s ready”), but, that’s what yelling is for! 😉 As for cooking timers and alarms, use your microwave oven’s timer function and/or smartphone for those, too! So, save yourself money, energy, and exasperation, and skip the thing.

My daughter bought me one of these, as I ‘had to keep up’ with science and technology and I am very happy she did. I use it mainly while in the kitchen so I can have my own personal play list plying while I work or if I fancy a change, I just say ‘Alexa, play.

and there it is playing. I also find it very handy to use as a timer, instead of getting the timer out and setting it for say 15 minutes, I say Alexa, set reminder for 15 minutes and she does. It’s also great for lots of other things too, I can even ‘drop in’ on my daughter and see what she’s up to or if I feel a bit low I can ask for Alexa to tell me a joke.

It’s neverending what you can do with it, another of my favourite things it can do is tell a short story, if for example I’m peeling veg I can ask for a short story and listen while I peel. It can also be very cheeky, I asked Alexa ‘What do you think of my hair style?’ and got the reply ‘Oh, I didn’t think that was still in fashion’ I love trying different things out and see what replies I get.

I ordered this Dot for our son’s room to play white noise for when he sleeps. Because it is a 2nd generation, it wouldn’t always stay connected to the WiFi, which is in our room. The sound was also a bit lower than the 3rd generation.

Ultimately, the 3rd generation Dot is now in his room for better connectivity and sound. The 2nd generation is in our room working perfectly to control the Fire TV by voice. We also have a Google Home in our room, so the Dot is mostly for the TV.

The volume quality is not an issue now, so it’s the solution we needed. This 2nd generation Dot is recommended for basic use, but for higher volume capabilities and connectivity, the 3rd generation is recommended.

I bought this product with very less hopes and clearly, it surpassed my expectations. I’ll divide the review in two parts which are: “Pros” and “Cons”. Pros:1. It can control the smart home devices seamlessly.

Just by asking Alexa to turn off/on the lights and the AC, they turn o/off in a snap of a finger. It’s really helpful. 2. There’s a mute button which turns the microphones off for privacy. 3. The USB port in the bottom is really helpful for me.

I have attached the Echo Flex beside a plug on my bedeside table and i can charge my phone without disconnecting it and then connecting a charger. 4. I can drop in and call other echo devices which are logged into my Amazon account.

This feature is really good because my grandparents have an Echo Dot 3rd Gen and i can talk to them hands-free. Cons:1. The speaker could have been better. This device is not for listening to songg. If you still wanna listen to some music, you definitely can, but the quality and the richness won’t be good.

2. There should have been a black or some any other colour option because the white colour will get dirty as time passes on. Overall, the Echo Flex is an amszing and useful device. It helps me a lot these days.

You should try this one.

The does everything an echo dot can do. From controlling my home’s smart devices, to asking for the weather, to asking Alexa questions, the Flex does it. It also has a USB port in the side for convenience.

This Alexa device plugs directly into the outlet, so there’s quite a few times my requests aren’t heard or understood. The audio on this is absolutely AWFUL. For the price, it’s a good Alexa device for the hall, laundry room or garage.

Pros: This is a very useful gadget as an Alexa-driven radio. Just use Bluetooth audio out or line-audio out and away you go (as the speaker inside the unit is a joke). Everything else Alexa does is a bonus on top but you might be better off getting one of the proper Echo units.

Great value though. Cons: Because it goes in a plug socket, the microphone is not always in a usable place. (So you have to shout at it). Design is ok but it isn’t a through-plug. Amazon’s Alexa system is ok but can be quite infuriating at times.

I tell Alexia to play ocean sounds when I go to bed at night and sleep soundly until morning. I wouldn’t want to be without it. I plan to get another one for my husband’s Nursing Home room to help him sleep.

I especially like Thunder Storms at night. It reminds me that I always slept well when there was a thunderstorm. The sounds are perfect to imagine that I really am curled up with my husband safe inside while the storm goes on outside.

I ask the Alexa Dot for these sounds anytime I want to drift off. If you don’t like Thunderstorms there are other sounds. One is called Ocean Sounds that is so soothing I can fall asleep to it too.

The gen2 echo is a stylish looking quality speaker producing solid sound, with the same Alexa functions as any other newer model. The only feature missing from this generation is the smart home hub (aka Zigbee support) which became available in newer models.

This is not a problem if you don’t require smart controls or already own another hub. Nowadays, used (or nearly new) gen2’s can be found used at very low prices and present excellent value for money, especially as they’re arguably better looking than the gen4 ball design.

Voucher for Pandora is a “3 month pass” but really just links you to a 90 day free trial, which is an offer available multiple times a year with no purchase requirements (if not 2 month, or 14 day available).

Worse, you have to enter your credit card or paypal details–which is not stated on the online voucher or on the card included with the purchase. Basically, it’s a hook to get you accidentally overstaying your 90 days and getting charged $10 a month.

The other promos are ridiculously overvalued premium Alexa skill in-app purchases, mostly on low-rated Alexa games. Essentially, since there were no actual details in any of the documentation, I feel like this was VERY oversold and under-delivered.

When purchasing, I considered the voucher as offsetting part of the cost of upgrading my device, and that was a mistake. If you find a better deal with no voucher, you’re probably better off. The device itself is smaller than the original (gen 1) Echo, height-wise.

Compared to the 1st generation, the volume is quieter overall, the treble less pronounced, and the mids perhaps a bit more muted. The bass is solid, but having the overall sound skewed towards the lower range tends to make the music sound more “muddled”.

While the sound of the original seemed to have more range, this model does a decent job of reproducing music in a non-audiophile setting. I felt my gen 1 echo was a bit of a dud with the far-field mic not being as impressive as described by others, having to raise my voice considerably at times to make it work.

Other times, I found the gen 2 dot in the bedroom, several yards further away responding rather than the nearby echo. This gen 2 model though seems to have a far more sensitive pickup, responding to requests easily and without fail.

I haven’t tried under difficult to hear conditions yet, but I would figure it would work better than my previous device.

There is nothing terribly bad about this product, but there’s also nothing that’s particularly great, either. The sound quality was decent, the choice of lighting was appealing, and it’s easy to store/tuck out of view.

Two problems led me to get rid of it:1) It would frequently ‘drop’ the connection with my laptop, meaning streaming was constantly interrupted. This became very frustrating, as sometimes I would have to re-pair the devices; and2) I found ‘Alexa’ to be quite noise sensitive.

Eventually, it began interacting when no one had said anything, and sometimes when there wasn’t any noise in the house. Amazon sent a replacement after troubleshooting couldn’t rectify the issues. The same thing started happening with the second one about two weeks later, at which point I gave up.

I purchased these, fortunately when they were on a fantastic offer. I have Alexa downstairs but decided to get one for the upstairs and as my daughter, who doesn’t live with me, shares my Amazon account, I gave her the other one.

I subscribe to unlimited music and this is great piece of equipment and so versatile. It was easy to set up too. I can listen to music, or the radio of my choice now, from anywhere in the house. Hubby rolled his eyes when I got it, as he is not into tech, but he is impressed with it.

Such a small gadget but packs a great sound output. It’s fun too, as you can enjoy quizzes that challenge your general knowledge. Just an entertaining piece of equipment all round, if you know what to ask for and I’m still discovering and I love it.

Still good value at the present cost though.

I purchased this sound machine to help with my grandkids nap time. My daughter sometimes brings hers with the kids but sometimes forgets. I decided to get one of my own. Because I was so satisfied with other pure enrichment products, I decided to try the Wave.

I like it sooo much more than my daughters very small nursery like machine. I love that you can easily identify the settings and how high the volume is before turning the machine on. The various auto shutoff choices is one of my favorite features.

I look forward to using it myself for my own sleep issues.

I’ve had a sleep disorder for years and have purchased many different sound machines. The Wave Premium Sleep Therapy Sound Machine is by far the best one I’ve tried. The design is sleek and small enough to use while traveling.

There are six different sound settings and all have helped me fall asleep. My husband is a snorer and this is the only sound machine that has drowned out the noise…you don’t have to turn up the volume to drain noise which I found annoying on other machines.

It has an auto sleep timer and you can charge it instead of dealing with wires.

Got this a couple months ago and really like this product. I like having the knob to adjust the volume easier than some other machines, you can make the volume just right instead of it being too loud or soft.

I also like that the stand does come off so that it is easy to pack up if need be. I just wish I had a spot for batteries for if the electric goes out. The USB outlet is kind of in a weird spot coming out of the middle of the stand but it is still nice having it so I can charge my phone or something while she falls asleep.

The color is super cute and goes great with the rest of her room.

The soothing sound is an annoying fan the has 2 speeds with not much difference in sound. Every adjustment I made to it was in a range that like squeaky chalk on a chalk board The touch night light is the only redeeming feature of this device.

When I plugged it in the first time and tried to sleep, the sound wasn’t smooth and constant, it was in a range that actually made my head hurt. After letting it run for an hour, I was no where closer to sleep.

I got up and turned it off. It was very warm. Even though it was a cold night, I turned my ceiling fan back on so I could enjoy the white noise. I gave up on it and put it in my daughters room as a night light.

This little powerhouse White Noise Machine really works very nicely. Hated to give up the large floor fan, as my sleep aid, but much to my surprise, I slept like a baby. It is perfect because it does not take up much surface space, only has 2 volume settings, but the higher speed is more than sufficient to block out background noise.

You can adjust the sound slightly by adjusting the opening sizes, exposing 3 different size holes. I like the largest hole opening size, which emits the greatest amount of air, and this works very well in conjunction with of the higher of the two air volume settings.

I did not want all of the nature sounds, with too many buttons, adjustments and excess choices. I just wanted a good nights sleep, easy operation, and to block out annoying noises. Great price and product.

Almost perfect! My friend has a Google Home. It doesn’t use skills, which limits its expandability. The Spot is more difficult to use in some ways, but is more capable than the Google Home product. The only thing missing is the ability to have it print my shopping list, i.

e. “Alexa, ask my HP printer to print my shopping list”. But that small complaint could be easily remedied if Hewlett Packard accepts this thing as having a bright future. About the screen, it’s small but useful.

For example, to connect to my outside carport camera all I have to do is say “Alexa, show me carport” and I get real time video. In most cases you can’t fill the whole screen with your camera video although video from the web usually let you.

Oh and I liked it so much I got four of them! I grouped them in an Everywhere group and play my favorites playlist in every room in the house. Life doesn’t get much better than that. :-).

I’m always the late person when it comes to buying technical gadgets—and I’m glad I waited until Amazon came out with an Echo with a small screen. I mainly bought this to use as my alarm clock, since my old fashioned clock was on its last leg.

This little amazing gadget is so much more! It’s really not fair to call it a gadget, but it’s definitely what I call an assistant! No more messing with buttons to turn on and off my alarm, and with the included smart plug, I don’t need to fumble in the dark for the light switch in the morning to turn on my bedroom lamp that’s across the room! There are so many fun features and things to do I’m learning more and more every day! You can even download free apps to use your Echo As a sound machine, etc! I am SO glad I purchased this! I think it was worth every Penny.

Pros: Such an easy way to control simple things like switching on lights or listening to music. The screen can be customised to show your photos, news updates, weather forecasts and many other things.

Great for finding out answers to almost anything, a bit like google but just by speaking to the device. Cons: The American version has more functionality.

Two years ago we visited our nephew and niece in Boston, Massachusetts. They have an Amazon Echo Show with Alexa. My niece asked Alexa for recipes for making garlic bread. I was absolutely pleased with the results Alexa showed.

I wanted to purchase one in Boston but was told it would not work in Canada. They visited us in Ontario last Christmas and bought us the Amazon Echo Show (second generation) with Alexa. We were so disappointed to see that the Canadian Alexa does not support requests for recipes.

My niece told us that it was fairly new to Canada and that recipes should be available shortly. still not available and almost a year has passed. There is no doubt that I could recommend family, relatives and colleagues buy this product if Alexa could show recipes and I know many would have bought it once they saw how it worked.

I personally would not have bought this product without having the recipe function. I ask Alexa periodically for a recipe hoping the recipe requested would be on the screen. still not functioning!!! When will this function be available? This was the most important reason I wanted this product.

Was gifted to me by DH as I am the electronic junkie here and really do enjoy this large screen echo. Best part is the steroid sound, love jamming out while cleaning or messing about the house. Sound is clear and no pitchy or reverb on this speaker.

Only strange thing is several times in middle of the night while we are asleep it suddenly turns on itself playing very loud music that I never listen too, not in my gentra of music at all but hard core rap and I am a classic rock and top 40 listener.

Never able to stop this unless unplug. (Always keep camera closed unless using it. ) Other than a bit of Big Brother sneaking on my echo I really have enjoyed it. Looks nice sitting on kitchen counter and would make a nice gift for anyone.

I have two of these Echo Plus speakers and I’ve set them up in both Mono and in Stereo. The wired auxiliary input port is a stereo input port, not mono. So if you use only one Echo Plus with stereo sound going into it, you hear both left and right sides coming out of the one speaker, which is very cool.

The vice versa is also true. If Alexa plays a song for you, and you use the AUX port as line out, the music comes out in stereo (not Mono). So it separates the left and right channels into whatever you plug it into.

PROS The stereo AUX port can be used as line in or line out via the app setting. Using two of these in stereo (via the app) provides lots of sound for such tiny speakers, easily loud enough to use outdoors in a very large open area.

Certainly loud enough to bother neighbors. The volume gets very loud, comparable to a much larger speaker. Putting the speaker on the floor or on the ground (instead of on a table) makes a lot of bass and sounds better when listening to it from at least 20 or more feet away.

The Alexa feature is very responsive, just as good as an Echo Dot that I also own. CONS I prefer the way the Alexa voice sounds in my Echo Dot better than on this Echo Plus. The Dot has better sounding vocals.

The Plus has more bass and treble and not enough midrange, so the Alexa voice is not as clear as it is on the Dot. The bass is good but a little boomy (almost muddy) compared to a comparably sized Bose or TV sound bar.

The bass and treble controls in the app don’t allow enough of an adjustment. Don’t get me wrong – I love bass, but with this speaker I actually wish I could crank the treble and midrange higher and reduce the bass more in order to get more clarity.

Also, the volume of Alexa’s voice is much louder than either the Bluetooth or Aux inputs, so while listening to music via an input, I refrain from using Alexa because Alexa is obnoxiously louder than the tunes I’m listening to.

There should be separate input volume level adjustments for inputs and Alexa. The speaker takes too long to boot up after being plugged in. There is no on/off switch to put it in standby. Plugging it in turns it on and unplugging it turns it off.

So it’s not the most portable device and is best left plugged in all the time in one place. There is no battery, so it must have a constant power source. The power plug is round like a laptop plug and requires a good sized AC brick.

The setup is very similar to a laptop. Would prefer a USB C or similar type universal power plug. In summary, I think Alexa’s voice sounds best on an Echo Dot device. Plus the Dot uses a standard USB power plug that can be plugged into a phone, cigarette lighter, laptop, etc making it much more versatile and portable.

The Echo Plus is a good speaker, but I don’t think it’s worth over $100 for a new one. There are MUCH better sounding speakers for the same price that are also rechargeable.

I upgraded from the original Echo Dot to the new 3rd Gen Echo Dot and was quite impressed based on performance/value. I was therefore (based on reviews) thought I would upgrade again to the new Echo Plus (as a stereo pair).

Overall quite disappointing, the base extension is hardly worth it (although I presume this would be improved with an Echo Sub) but if I bought that why bother with the extra size of the Echo plus? The mid range is sadly lacking and some tracks are so quiet when just in the mid range its an embarrassing effort.

The overall loudness is also disappointing. This product does not dominate or fill a room with the only improvement in fidelity at the top end. The difference in performance in comparison to cheaper speakers such as Ultimate Ears Boom 2 is significant so overall I don’t consider the New Echo Plus good value.

I was inquisitive about the new internet of things and smart equipment. The “Alexa” app is a step in that direction. It has a lot of potential for the future, but as yet there are too many things like light switches that need replacing for it to be a convenient system.

Most of the replacement switches are bulky and existing switch housings shallow so changing involves lots of electrical work. Okay for the electricians but expensive for householders. (Yes I know there are adapters for light sockets but they are bulky and don’t look right!) Smart socket adapters for the mains outlets are a good thing as portable appliances can be operated by voice so there are ups and downs.

With anything like this, it is good to be aware but until houses are built from scratch to accept smart equipment, it will be a long uphill struggle to adapt everything in a current home.

The echo line is basically Alexa, which performs great in most instances. There are some idiosyncrasies that must be learned, but nothing too annoying. Cost point is right too. I highly recommend.

My girls love sitting in my studio asking Alexandria questions and listening to music and begged to have one of their own. We set this up in their room last night and they spent hours listening to music, dancing, playing games and listening to stories.

Granddaughter is having a blast with Alexa!

When I first opened the packaging, I was unsure of the sound machine. It’s very lightweight and feels pretty flimsy compared to the skip hop portable owl sound machine. After using it for the first time, I can see it’s not flimsy at all.

It’s a pretty powerful sound machine. It has the ring which allows you to attach it to the stroller or car seat. There are different volume settings and it can get pretty loud. The best feature in my humble opinion is the fact that it’s rechargeable! I put the skip hop on my registry because it was a registry “fave”.

While it’s nice and easy to carry around, it uses up a lot of battery. It requires 3 AAA batteries which I don’t normally have lying around the house. Once the battery on that is dying, it will stop playing white noise and starts playing a musical melody.

I use the Hatch sound machine in my bedroom but didn’t want to keep moving it around the house for naps during the day. So this is where the portable sound machine comes in. I can use it in the nursery, living room, kitchen, and on the go without needing to worry about battery life.

It charges quickly at night when we switch over to the Hatch.

I wanted a sound machine that would turn off at a time I specified each day. You’d be amazed at how hard that is to find. Most things I came across required that you’re always connected to Bluetooth or forced you to have an actual clock attached OR came with an annoying light that would be on all night long.

I was thrilled to find this Dohm Connect because I only had to program it one time through the app and I’ve never had to open the app again. The machine comes on each night at 8:30pm without fail. Even if I unplug it from the wall, close the app, or start it up during the day.

If I plug it in after 8:30pm, it automatically starts. It’s fantastic. Then it turns off each morning at 7am. Again, without fail, even if I turn it off and back on during the night. Also, I have a small baby.

I’ve found that other sound machines sound like a baby crying when you listen to them for too long. So I was constantly waking up, thinking my baby was crying. The Dohm Connect sounds like a strong fan.

It isn’t high pitched. So I never think it is the baby. I can rest easy knowing our baby monitor will wake me up if the baby cries, rather than the sound machine at random times. The sound it makes is robust and fills the entire room, blocking out unwanted noises.

At first I though I might want it to be louder, but I’ve been able to sleep perfectly with its current loudness. It really is the best sound machine I’ve ever had. I will be buying one for each bedroom in it house!.

The advantage to using the YOGASLEEP Dohm is that the sound is mechanical. What I mean by that is that there are actual moving parts (it’s safe) that generate a whirring sound. It is very consist ant and theoretically changes with the movement of air in the room.

The mechanical motion of the machine creates a beautiful sound wave that has a natural curve. Most sound machines are a digital file played over a speaker. If the digital file is short or low quality, you will hear imperfections, which drives people like me crazy! We really enjoy the Dohm and the added feature of auto-turn on at night time is really helpful.

The only complaint I have is that if you manually turn on the device, sometimes it will forget to turn on at its regular time the next night – a simple bug fix.
