20 Best Sleep Posture For Neck (2023 Updated)

side sleeper here with, female with broad shoulders. This is the fifth contour pillow I had had to alleviate neck pain and arm and hand numbness. Three others I loved, but they wore out quickly, one other was a super hard foam that was the right shape but gave me a headache because the foam was too hard (not memory foam).

After reading reviews, I thought this pillow might be the best of all worlds of contour pillows. However, what I found is that the memory foam was too hard after a while of sleeping (or trying to sleep) on it, whiuc is crazy because initially I thought the foam so soft that I figured there was no way the pillow was going to be supportive.

so, too hard for my preferences. Also, and this is probably the worst part for me, although the rounded ends are high enough for my broad shoulders, they are too rounded on the high ends to fit comfortably under my neck the way I like it.

instead, my head actually lays in the rounded part, instead of sinking into the dip in the middle. This throws my body out of alignment, with my head sitting too high compared to the rest of my body, putting strain on my neck.

Lastly, the dip in the middle is not wide enough from front to back of the pillow, so if I try to use the flatter side of the pillow, my head actually sits partly in the larger side, again angling my head and causing my neck to be strained.

so, I am returning the pillow and going on the hunt for another one. in the plus side, there is nothing wrong with the workmanship, and I love the idea of the adjustability, but given the other things that don’t work for me (the too-rounded large side, and the too narrow dip in the middle), the adjustability just didn’t help me at all.

Great concept, though, and I wish more pillows had this option.

The pillow arrives very compactly packaged But once out of the box, it springs into shape within a few minutes. It had no odor and appeared to be of good quality. I let it sit for the full recommended 48 hours before using it.

I have been using a contoured pillow for the past 7 years so was familiar with the feel. This pillow is not as firm as some but still gives good support. I tried it out for 2 nights and was happy with it.

This is a great pillow. I have tried many neck pillows, including Arcforlife, which I have used the last 5 years and really like as well. When I saw this pillow I thought I would try it. Always open to trying something new for neck relief.

Apparently, I have something called “military neck” where I have no natural curve in my neck and it actually curves slightly the wrong way. I have used this pillow for about 6 weeks now and I have to say it is my favorite and I like it better than the ARC for life because of the type of filling.

It is more spongy because of the shredded foam pieces. The pillow has several separate zippered compartments that you can manipulate the shredded foam into the desired shape and fill. It is very comfortable when I lay on my back and the roll is under my neck.

The sides do form around the side of my head, almost like a cradle. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like that but my head does not flop from side to side now. I thought the sides would be to high for side sleeping but that has been the most comfortable of all.

Something I don’t feel like I had with the Arc for life pillow. I did have a little issues with a stitch that popped and the filling would not hold in one compartment. they immediately sent me a new one.

I think it was just a fluke because the pillow was extremely well made! I am extremely happy with this pillow and will recommend this pillow to everyone!.

I never write reviews so this review is super important. I have had severe neck problems for months and months which cause me to awaken with massive migraine headaches daily. I have tried acupuncture, massages, PT, beta blockers.

Tried this in store and it was cushy and so soft around your neck/head so I decided to spend the extra money and buy one for myself and one for my husband. I’ve been using it now for 2 months and it is so hard and uncomfortable.

I think its taken me a bit to get use to, and unsure if the best for me as Im quite small, but its getting more comfortable and I havent woken in with a sore neck at all this week. So will stick with it! I think its a good pillow, but I probably should have got the standard tempur original as Im sleeping more on my side these days.

I ordered this pillow online, and the package arrived in the post, open. Both the external postage box and the pillow box had been damaged / opened. For any other item, I would be ok with it, but as it’s a pillow, I was weary, so took it back to David Jones Doncaster to see if they could exchange or refund the item.

The two ladies had no interest in helping, and basically told me, “it’s not our problem, blame Australia post”, and sent me away without any attempt to resolve the matter. I haven’t even used the pillow, as I am paranoid it has been tampered with or used already.

I went through so many pillows before landing on this one. In fact I was convinced I was going to have to return it because I was feeling so hopeless. I’m kind of a strange stomach-side-hybrid sleeper so I need something soft and plush but I need something that will maintain shape between my neck and shoulder when I shift to my side.

This one is it. Every other pillow I’ve tried, even pillows in the $90 range, have gone flat on me during the night. I think because of the divots sewn into this one it keeps it nice and puffy around the edges and it’s been so helpful.

I’ve actually been able to sleep through the night because of it. Notes: When I was researching I was worried the pillow might be “noisy” and have a “beanbag” kind of sound when rolling over which would wake me up.

It doesn’t. The sound isn’t any louder than the normal rustle of sheets when you move. It definitely has two distinct sides and I personally prefer the softer cooler side but I’ve slept on both and they’re both great.

I’m actually very happy with this pillow, I’ve been searching for something to help with neck pain and this is perfect! I am a side and back sleeper and it’s hard to find a good pillow that doesn’t hurt my neck of roll off of it.

I’ve been using the “my pillow” but I’m really impressed with this product. It’s not too soft and not too firm. I’m excited to go to bed and I’ll be taking it with me if I ever stay overnight somewhere! IšverstiShow in original languageOne of the best travel pillows I’ve bought. I’ve only gotten to use it a couple of times, but I’ve finally been able to avoid getting neck pain or having my head bob continuously during plane or train trips.

The pillow is very soft and easy to adjust around your neck. It felt a bit unnatural at first, but I was eventually able to fall asleep. The best part was not waking up from a sudden head bob. I could only use the pillow for short naps because it would get a little bit warm, but I’m sure that extra warmth would be great for colder environments.

Overall, it’s the best pillow to have if you’re in a situation where you have to sleep sitting upright.

IšverstiShow in original languageI bought the Trtl Original for some upcoming travel I have planned. I started using the Trtl pillow in the car on the way in to work so I could get “used” to it on for when on the plane.

My head doesn’t bob, my neck doesn’t hurt, my hair isn’t messed up! I am loving this pillow and I haven’t even travelled anywhere yet. This will be perfect for my redeye flight. I also like how soft it is and the fleece will be nice as I find airplanes cold.

And for those open mouth sleepers. just bring the fleece up a bit and cover your mouth. All your problems solved with this amazing pillow. If you commute, buy it. If you travel, buy it.

Easy to put on and also very easy to just slide it around when I wanted to tilt my head the other way, didn’t have to take the whole thing off as I worried I might. I’d also like to note that their customer service is second to none, I reached out after an issue with an order and they immediately corrected it even though it was my error not theirs.

I recently moved and threw away the pillow I had been using for a leg pillow because it was old and beaten up. I had no idea that a new one would be so hard to find! I just got it tonight and I’m using it right now. This is a *perfect* leg pillow. Not too soft or firm, cushy but not too springy, the perfect length, the perfect width, the perfect weight. I love everything about this pillow and I’ll be getting another one.

You won’t believe the difference it makes.

I had great hopes for this pillow and waited over 2 months to receive it. I found the pillow too hot. It really retains body heat which might be good in the winter but not in the summer. Although I tried to position myself with my knee on the thicker part of the pillow, while I slept it would move to the thinner part.

That caused my knee to ache. It is quite long which might be good for a taller person but for a shorter person it made it difficult to move when I switched sleeping positions. It’s over-priced for what you get.

This is a great idea in theory and I read that it worked for a lot of people so was disappointed. I had the same issue as I had read in other reviews that the ridge under the neck was not high enough and the valley for the head propped mine up too high.

And another issue I had seen was that the sides for side sleeping aren’t where your head normally goes when you sleep on the side, so you need a lot of space on the bed for this to work. I do but it still required being awake in order to adjust your body to go back to sleep on the sides correctly.

So I would wake up on my side with my head wonky in the middle, or on the wrong side. Another issue I had was the measurements. I paid close attention and measured myself correctly, but they don’t take into account the length of your neck, only your shoulders.

I got a petite to go with the shoulder measurement, but I have a long neck too so again, this is a great idea in theory and seems like it’s such a custom item, but unfortunately can’t be customized for shorter or longer necks.

I contacted the company for a return, and they are refunding me without requiring it to be shipped back since I used it for several nights in hopes to figure out how to make it work for me. So that’s nice, but I feel bad to waste this massive molded latex pillow which they said is recyclable at least.

Oh one other issue was that the cover which was nice material and well made, was still too tight around it so it kept my head up even more. I ended up using it with a regular cloth pillowcase over it that could flex even more to the molding, if that makes sense.

But that was awkward as well.

Cervical pillows are a bit weird, but takes time getting used to. I started going between cervical & regular pillow every other day for the first week. Then 2 cervical to 1 regular. Now 100% cervical.

It takes some getting used to. I love the firmness of the pillow. It manages to be firm & soft at the same time. The center seems to be a nice cradle for my head to lay. I do move around & find myself sleeping on my back on the sides (sides of pillow are designed for side sleeping, not back), but I think I’ve gotten better to keeping my head centered when on my back.

I’m 6′-2″ 195 lbs & got the regular size. It may be a tad big for me, but I’d have to have the other sizes side by side to see what works best to know for certain. It’s likely the right fit as my chiropractor recommended this size too, so probably fits right, just need to get used to it some more.

My lower back & neck has felt better over the last 3 weeks that I’ve used this.

I’ve used the large size for more than 2 years now. I have craniocervical instability, hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos and severe dysautonomia and have to wear a hard cervical collar at night to sleep. The large size pillow allows room for the collar on the side w/o the extension.

I have the Original firm and it did take a few weeks to break the foam in, but that’s due to a super sensitive occipital region. Lastly, I protect the fitted pillow cover by using King size pillow cases.

There’s enough material to conform to the pillow contours and the wedge extension. Plus it’s much easier to change the pillow case.

Great for 2 very important uses: 1. Traveling. Because of its design, it pushes the head up on the neck column, not forward the way other inflatables do. Like other inflatables, it shrinks down to an easily-carried size when not in use.

Having the ability to release just some of the pressure easily is handy when you hit altitude and the thinner air makes it necessary to release the now-expanded air to remain comfortable. 2. Sore neck.

It can be pumped high enough to traction a stiff neck; alternately pumping it up and releasing the air creates a massage effect. My only concern is that this is the second one I have had to buy, because the first one developed a leak after a couple of years.

I am hoping this one will last longer.

Inexpensive to costly. By chance found your site. A pillow was a surprise. Reviewing your pillow seemed to be the answer. Trying to sleep put to much pressure. Tried several standard pillows. Paid about $56 total.

Quick delivery. It worked when position correctly. Had to be in exact position. Worked immediately to the point of no pain. Majority of healing is your pillow. Nearing recovery after over a month since unjury.

I have a big head and long neck so I appreciate how each end of the pillow is a different size for tall and short people. The raised edges keep your head in place while letting you side sleep too. The memory foam is absolutely great, other memory foam pillows feel stuffy or warm whereas this pillow is cool with the right amount of firmness.

This is a must buy!!!! Totally worth the investment!!!!.

I had a car accident a few years ago that ha slept me with severe, daily neck pain from whiplash. Regular pillows do not properly support the injured ligaments in my neck, and so I wake up hurting each morning.

This pillow however has been a breakthrough for me! I can comfortably sleep on my back or side and do not experience the same type of pains in the morning and my chiropractor has even noticed that I am progressing faster now through my treatments and needing less of them!.

I have suffered with ongoing neck stiffness and pain for years. I’ve tried several pillows – foam, goose-down, polyester at various thickness. Some helped relieve the issues more than others but none really effectively worked day after day.

I saw this in Sharper Image and read the reviews. What can I lose? It is cheaper than a lot of doctor visits or therapy. Within a few days of using the pillow, I knew it was the correct decision for me.

It takes a few days to get used to it. It has a soft side and a firmer side so help you use what works best for you. But I got a good nights rest the first night even though I needed to re-position the pillow once or twice during the right.

If you are waking up with neck pain, and other approaches are not working, I’d suggest you give this a try.

It just didn’t work for me. My head sank into the hole. I couldn’t figure out which side to put under my neck. I will re-examine the video to see if I can improve the alignment.

I have been working with this product to help with my neck issues. The current item I have had been deflating while in use. So in quality I would give this less stars. However if I continue to pump it up when needed and stay on it for 5/10 minutes it did help with my issues.

I also have purchased a different pillow which has helped I believe as well. Getting it out along with Matt to lay on is aggravating. However if u have space to put it out and keep it out would be More convenient.

I do like the strap for the handpiece to keep your neck in proper alignment as youre in use.

Great for helping to restore the cervical curve we tend to lose while looking down at our phones all the time. It’s also a lifesaver for certain types of tension headaches – I spend 10 minutes with it and usually my headache will magically disappear.

I’ve had terrible neck pain even to the point of preventing sleep. The first time I used this I was frustrated with getting set up properly with the straps but after finally doing so I started pumping the air.

Well, four months have passed and I can no longer sleep on this pillow (I have been sleeping on a cheap $5 pillow for two weeks with better success). Once again, the fiber is no longer supportive, just as in the other Core Products pillows I’ve tried.

Nice product for what it is if you want to get serious about your curve you may want to purchase a posture pump. This product obviously has its limits and can only take you so far.

Happy with this purchase – it might seem hard sometimes and I think that’s because of the cool weather/winter. I didn’t have any issues with it being hard in the warmer months.

I like that this pillow has such rigidity as I need. It certainly is not quite individual, and I have to move it slightly when using it, first slightly up, later slightly down. This is so that all the convex surfaces are activated, because the length of the neck in humans is slightly different.

In general, it is a very pleasant relaxing massager.
