20 Best Sleep Apnea Mouth Guard (2023 Updated)

Long time user of this product. I’ve been purchasing this item since this company first started. They have been making subtle improvements over the years, all have been in the positive direction. Product works as advertised.

Follow the instructions carefully. Have some 120 grit sand paper to knock off the sharp high spots if you do any trimming with hand tools. Pre fit the device with a mirror at your kitchen counter to center the device properly and again when you perform the final installation.

Expect about 6 months life. 90% effective! Nothing else I’ve seen comes close!.

This is my second review of Pure-Sleep and it’s certainly as positive as the first. I can’t actually remember when I first started using the device, but it’s been at least 15 years now and I literally can’t do without it.

I keep one by my bedside, have several new ones always on hand, and always keep one in my travel kit. On that note, my wife and I were on vacation right before the pandemic, and on the first very long day I plopped down in bed forgetting the device and went to sleep, only to be immediately awakened by my wife afraid I had forgot to bring one.

I hadn’t, put it in and went to sleep. My wife commented that my snoring stopped instantaneously. I can’t comment on how it will work for everyone, but for my wife and myself it has been a godsend.

I have been using the Pure Sleep anti-snoring device for 9 years. I tried several other products, some less expensive, some more expensive, but none were as effective as the Pure Sleep device, nor as comfortable.

While it does take some getting used to sleeping with ones jaw slightly forward, once comfortable with that feeling, it is incredibly effective. The first night I tried it 9 years ago my spouse checked to make sure I was still breathing I was sleeping so quietly.

I have recommended the Pure Sleep anti-snoring device to friends and continue to advocate it as an effective device for snoring. It’s really a great product.

If you’ve tried other dental guards and not had success, it’s time to try Plackers Grind No More. I was the type of person who had tried all kinds of other brands of dental guards and nothing was comfortable.

Some of them outright hurt! I could rarely even fall asleep with them in. And I knew in my head the kind of dental guard I would need to actually feel comfortable. Unfortunately, I didn’t think it existed.

Have been using these for years for mild teeth clenching. Given that this is a personal product, I use the same mouth guard “endlessly. ” A simple rinse in the morning is alI need and I just replace when I feel like it needs it – certainly not within 3 days.

Given that the multi-pack I have is still the tall blue package, I had to come on-line to see where I can find more now that I’ve moved and didn’t find in my local drug-store. Packaging changed but I assume the product has stayed the same.

Individual packaging is a plus and the item so light; just throw an extra one into your travel kit and never be without! And, of course, the price is also a HUGE plus!.

My son always grinds his teeth at night which caused some problems like jaw pain and headaches. We tried different brands and it is sometimes too big or too bulky for him. Tried this mouthguard and so far, this one works well for him.

It is very easy to trim and to fit to his size and within just a few weeks of wearing it, he no longer complain of any jaw pain or headaches. Truly effective and a must try if you are suffering from teeth grinding too.

Easy to mold. For the first couple of nights was uncomfortable. The only issues I have with device is in the morning my low jaw is forward and it’s take time to come back. Will not use this device. I’m not saying that this device won’t work for the others.

My wife has been suffering with a jaw pain and chipped teeth due to teeth grinding. We tried different brands but she’s not really comfortable wearing mouth guards at night, it makes her gag, because of the bulkiness and too much material.

Luckily this brand fits well to her, she said it is comfortable, not bulky and she can sleep well at night. Wife approved!.

I needed a mouth guard last minute when my kid joined wrestling and didn’t want a flimsy one. Kid is accident prone as is lol I was worried when he joined and the last thing I wanted was a mouth Injury.

I purchased this because we’ll it was the only one on the shelf but have been pleasently surprised. They are solid enough I’m thinking about getting one for myself. I’ve always grinded my teeth in my sleep and even the guards from the docs never seem to last long and they are pricey, even the OTC ones.

but these look like they could stand up. Definitely will look into buying more, and see what different styles they have for my issue. but it’s been well worth what I paid.

No good for me. I have a small mouth and it’s too small for me. I’m a girl and my dental arch is actually too small and it’s still too small for me. I don’t know if it’s a sports thing or what but it’s not good for me.

Maybe for a child. I feel like this would cause dental shifting. No good.

I purchased this mouthguard for my son. When we got home, he opened it to check it out. I was very disappointed to find that it didn’t have the included strap with it. It stated on box there was a strap included.

The nearest Dick’s for us is one hour away. I went there a few days later to find that they didn’t have any and had a poor selection of mouthguards. I ended up returning it and drove another hour home empty handed.

Drove four hours and ended up with no mouthguard :(.

I purchased this in green to match my son’s football team’s colors and it looks great! He says it’s really easy to breathe through which is great because he has had others that have made it difficult to breathe with activity.

As of late I had been waking up my wife many times a night. Started looking for some solutions, and saw this one several times in my search, but seemed too good to be true. It is effective. When I remember to wear it, I don’t snore, which leads to better sleep for both of us.

Be sure you give this a try, and pay close attention to the moulding instructions. Mine did pretty well, but I imagine it could be slightly better. Also, your teeth will probably be sore for at least a week.

(Might be a little sore every morning too, but it’s not bad, and passes) give it the full week before giving up. If you’ve ever had braces or anything like that, you’ll understand the feeling. It’s worth working through.

I have a crown on one of my upper front teeth. Seems fine for me, but didn’t know you should check with your dentist first if you have one. Eventually got mine set to the 3mm setting, and it seems effective without causing undue pressure or discomfort.

Sleeping with it is a little weird at first too, but once you learn to ignore it, you’ll barely notice. Highly recommend. Will definitely replace when mine wears out.

Have been using SnoreRx for about two months now. And I wanted to get some good experience before I wrote this review. I had used a guard on my top teeth to prevent me from grinding. The SnoreRx is substantially larger.

And even after I received it in the mail, it took me two months to built up the courage to start using it. All the things mentioned in the other reviews are accurate. But for me, the most annoying side effect is the jaw soreness and stiffness.

Most mornings, it is gone within an hour or two. But sometimes it lingers on longer. The third time I used SnoreRx, I almost quit entirely because my jaw hurt so bad. But over time, your ligaments will stretch and it will become less and less painful.

I think if I wasn’t a grinder, it probably wouldn’t be so bad. But as far as sleeping better, it definitely DOES WORK!! Before SnoreRx, I would have a cloud of drowsiness over my entire day. With the SnoreRx, I am much more awake and alert all day.

I rarely find myself dozing off at 2pm anymore. Also, I can sleep on my back again! Without SnoreRx, my tongue would always choke off my airway. Also, one other thing to mention. I did get tested for sleep apnea before purchasing SnoreRx.

The threshold for getting a CPAP is surprisingly high (at least with my doctor). like 15-20 episodes a night if I remember correctly. I was that bad, but I was bad enough that I wasn’t sleeping very well.

SnoreRx has been the perfect solution!.

This is among the best anti-snore devices I have found–and my wife is 1000% happier! That it is molded to your teeth makes it a far more comfortable fit. For me, by thrusting your lower jaw just slightly forward (and it can be adjusted), it stops my snoring (I am an average size male, in height and weight)–and the device is reasonably comfortable.

A few cautions: even the standard SnoreRX feels quite large, at first, in your mouth–but I have no problem falling asleep with it. In the morning, your jaw may feel slightly sore or stiff, and/or misaligned (which may feel worrisome), but that quickly corrects itself within minutes.

It’s very transient. I have been using it for months with no ill-effects. Bottom line, the custom-fit SnoreRx is an effective snoring remedy, no question! It may be mildly uncomfortable at first, but for me anyway, you get a good night’s rest.

I was waking up with a sore throat and also some sinus pain. Spoke to my doctor who told me to look into a CPAP machine. Average machines are thousands of dollars. I was looking into more cost effective alternatives and found the Smart Guard.

Excellent product, well made! Back sleeper here with snoring issues resulting in terrible sleep due to tongue blocking my airway. This device helps keep my airway open, reduces my jaw clenching and I get plenty of restful sleep.

Bonus: my wife is much happier because she doesn’t have to listen to me snore!.

Overall this has reduced my snoring and provided a me with a better overall feeling of rest in the morning. My partner has gotten better sleep as well, no more kicking me in the middle of the night. I bought the SnoreRX on the chance it could improve my snoring and I am happy it has worked.

The plastic does wear down after many months of use and I will have to purchase another one soon. I might try to SnoreRX Plus and see if it is built sturdier for longer life. The one and only drawback to using the mouthpiece is your teeth can be a little sensitive to it.

It takes a few days for a person to adjust to it and can take some getting use to. I give this 5 stars as it is fairly inexpensive and will improve sleep. If you find yourself snoring because your mouth falls open when you go into a deep sleep, then this is the product I would recommend.

I’ve been using the Intelliguard PRO for two years already and this is my third purchase. Compared to other brands I tried before, this was hands down the best product. Size is adequate, not too big to cause pain neither too small to fall during sleep.

Something important for me is how easy it is to breath while sleeping, this I found difficult and even concerning with other mouthpieces. Build quality is superb, lasting long without ever losing its molding shape.

The molding process is super easy and well explained in their website. Finally, the most important feature is that it really helps to reduce snoring. My wife has a very light sleeping so she’s really thankful with this product since I got it more than two years ago.

Definitely I’ll continue using this product as long as I can get it (there was a time where I found difficult to find it online).

It is stated that it isn’t intended for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), but as it brings forward the lower jaw and increases the space of the oropharangyl airway, it is something medical professionals recommend for reducing OSA.

It should not be used as a sole preventative device but it should be used in conjunction with specialist/practitioner recommendations. I went to a sleep clinic and I need a septoplasty and a CPAP machine, my plastic surgeon also recommended a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD [this product]).

I’ve only used it for 2 nights but it is such a good device. It is a mid level one as it is “semi-custom” which means it is boil to bite (you put it in boiling water and it molds to your teeth). I should have used a mirror as I bit into on an angle and it’s not symmetrical, but it works perfectly fine otherwise.

This is a great alternative to surgery of the oropharangyl airway such as plasty of the adenoids, tonsils, rear of tounge, and nasopharangeal airway. I am a Molecular Genetic major so that is why I understand the diagnosis and terminology.

Don’t take what I know as fact, and refer to a Sleep Specialist at a sleep clinic, for a sleep study. Now go out there and get it sorted. You will be 40% less likely to develop cardiovascular disease (NIH, NCBI ResearchReference).

I have tried lots of different products to reduce my snoring from band aid type thing that goes onto your nose. A strap that you velcro around your head and jaw, a ring that is suppose to push pressure points and of course this mouthpiece and others as well.

I use an app on my phone to monitor my sleep noise and this is invaluable for keeping your progress in check. Basically the mouthpiece is the only thing that has worked for me. At first it is uncomfortable and i must admit with the earlier ones i purchased ( mouthpieces ) i tried it for a night and woke up gagging and gaveup.

It was only that my girlfriend couldnt sleep because of my snoring that i pushed thru and kept using it. ( this was a different type of mouthpiece) and after that if i went to sleep without it my girlfriend would wake me and make me put it in.

She said my snoring didnt stop but it was much much better. This type of mouthpiece was not like the intelliguard in that you could not adjust your over or under bite. After using the intelliguard and adjusting it to push my jaw forward ( yes uncomfortable at first ) but the results are awesome.

Before i was paranoid about staying at a friends house or sharing a motel room, but now its not a problem. This fixed my issue with snoring which is a problem with the softtissue in my throat and this device works for me.

You need to evaluate your snoring condition as to how its caused ( could be your nasal passage so you would need something different ) so you must have an open mind to the different aids on the market and experiment to find what suits your type of condition.

But for me this mouthpiece has reduced my snoring for 2 1/2 hours a night and epic noise down to 15mins tops and much less noisy. Now i cant sleep more than 6 hours a night simply because i dont need anymore sleep and when you do the numbers i was sleeping for 8 hours before but i was snoring hard so i was really only getting 5 1/2 hours sleep so now max 6 hours and im awake feeling really good ” Thankyou intelliguard”.

While I am sleeping my upper jaw shifts back and closes off my airway. But with snort quiet comfortable mouthguard I am able to sleep peacefully and breathe completely! I have no snoring and no gasping for air whatsoever.

I’ve tried other mouthguards, this seems to be the best for my smaller mouth as I am a woman with a small head. LOL! It’s true, it fits best.

This product really has helped me. It was easy to mould using the enclosed instructions and the first two nights were snore free. In fact I feel much more refreshed in the mornings. Seems easy to keep clean too.

Excellent item, I read over the company website before deciding to purchase this brand. Boil & bite means you fit it to your mouth: perfectly. I re-heated the piece 4-5 times (you can do that up to 20) before I got a fit I liked.

The last 2 times I just heated the front part, to loosen it up. At first I was using a borrowed cheese thermometer and a pan of water on the stove but then discovered I could just run water through my coffee maker, and that temperature worked fine.

I fall asleep easily, I don’t even know its there. My bottom teeth hit the back of the top teeth so my dentist recommended a night guard, just in case. I don’t have bruxism so I cannot comment on how it can take a chomping, but it seems to be super super strong.

Yet thin! I like it that it has ventilation, as I drink water at night, and the ventilation makes it easy to drink water. Cleanup is easy, I wash it each morning with warm water and soap like the directions indicate.

Tastes fine, no taste at all that I notice. Can use it right out of the box.

Shrinks after u get it fit. Gives me a headache it’s like braces squeezing. Good quality. Cool how easy it was to fit. But…

For months I’ve suffered with painful tense shoulder muscles. I’ve been a grinder for many years and was diagnosed with TMD, and as a result have had years of major dental work. I had delayed getting a nightguard because of continuing changes in my bite and also because they are very expensive.

Thank you so much for giving me such a legitimate and neat nightguard to me. I had TMJ disorder and level of severity was really high (Misalignment of teeth, grinding, clenching. what not). The cheap one from Amazon didn’t quite work rather made it worse so I was looking for something more legitimate and found JS dental.

I was thinking this is for my teeth and my body, why not spending a little more money to make my life easier. I placed order, got impression kit (instruction video was super helpful). In the middle of order, I changed my mind and ordered different one (Customer service was awesome, super fast response and friendly).

And, I finally sent over to them and got the guard within 3 days. Amazingly, since I started using JS dental mouth guard, my teeth alignment started getting into right position and now I am almost no problem chewing properly!.

This was my first time purchasing a night guard from a lab (after many years of grinding and using over the counter bulky night guards). I was originally going to have my dentist make me a nightguard (with more than triple the price).

I’ve been wearing these for a week and so far, I’ve seen a huge difference. I got these because I am a heavy grinder/clencher and my dentist told me a custom night guard is going to be something I eventually need to get to prevent further damage to my enamel.

I was literally about to just fork over the $1K and then I decided to try Remi. Honestly, the worst part is doing the impressions. I couldn’t really get it right the first time, and i was literally drooling all over myself lol, but once I got the greenlight to send them in, the retainer came back and fit my teeth perfectly.

The fact I only have to wear one or the other (top or bottom) is also a huge plus because in the past, with other night guards I’ve tried, I just could not fall asleep. These snap into place and, like the instructions said, I put them in 30 mins or so before I go to sleep so I can get used to having them in.

After a full week of wearing the top guard every night, I can say that a) I haven’t woken up uncomfortable, wanting to take it out and b) my jaw pain is completely gone, as are my tension headaches. After just 3 nights of wearing this, the pain in the lower half of my left jaw completely disappeared, and it has been there for months.

I am adamant about wearing these every night and have already recommended them to a few friends! Totally worth the $150 considering how much the dentist wanted to charge me.

I was interested in these guards because I have really been struggling to wear the super thick one I got from my dentist years ago. Normally, I don’t have an issue, but during pregnancy, I have an extremely sensitive gag reflex and could not keep it in.

I really needed something thinner, so I ordered the kit. I contacted customer service because I was having a very hard time with doing the impressions (5 minutes with the goop in my mouth wasn’t happening!) They worked with me by setting up a Zoom call in order for one of their consultants to walk through the impression taking process with me and help me NOT throw up while doing it.

The consultant was patient and kind, and we got the impressio done successfully! I received my guards about 3 weeks later, and I am extremely happy with them! I’m able to wear them with no issue and I have noticed a big difference since I’ve been able to wear something again to help with my grinding and clenching.

I highly recommend Remi, especially if you need something thinner. I’ve only had it a week or two, so I can’t speak to how long it will last, but I have seen no wear and tear yet so I’m sure it will take me through the end of my pregnancy and beyond.

After several years of teeth grinding, broken teeth and jaw pain, I was advised by my dentist to get a set of night guards. They quoted me $400 for the pair in the dentist office. I thought the price was too expensive and decided against buying them.

A few months later while online, I saw an advertisement for Remi for significantly less money, and took a chance. The ordering process was easy and the doing the impressions at home was more convenient than sitting in the dentist chair.

When I received the night guards, I was a little skeptical because I thought they would be thicker than they are. After my first night wearing them, I knew I had made the right decision. The night guards are barely noticeable and fit perfectly.

I have definitely noticed a huge change in the morning after wearing these. My teeth are not sore and I no longer feel as if someone punched me in the jaw. I signed up for the subscription plan so I could get a new pair every 6 months, and I am looking forward to my next delivery.

When I first put it on, it feels a little tight along the front of my teeth. But I guess it has to be held on some way or another. Anyway, that tight feeling goes away within 5 minutes and I don’t feel it the rest of the night.

I’m not sure I’d do the front-cut option again, if I was ordering another one. Because it makes it so small in the front that it almost doesn’t stay on. But thankfully, it does – just barely – stay on.

All night long, too. So it still works. Just doesn’t feel too secure. Anyway, overall, despite these few minor concerns, I still love the product and the process. They shipped really fast and it’s a quality product!.

I was skeptical about these but after my dog ate the $700 one I paid the dentist for I decided to try it. I could not be more impressed with the ease of the process. I received my impression kit quickly and thought it would be difficult but it was super easy.

The return bag is included sent it off and when they arrived on time the fit perfectly. I could not be happier.

Guards do not fit; slide around my teeth. My fault. Making a good impression mold was quite difficult for me. I knew the guards would probably not fit well. I had dentist make two guards; one day and the other for night.

I wake up rested! I use to wake up so tired it was like I never slept. I’d wake up with one of my teeth being wiggle loose, I was terrified I was going to loose the sucker just because I grind my teeth and clench my jaw at night, how am I suppose to be able to stop myself clenching and grinding while I slept? I wasted so much money on night mouth guards.

I had used other mouth guards, the boil and bite one worked ok, that was until I got an extraction and braces. Then I got those disposable bite guards after the braces, those were a joke! Made me clench harder, even loosened my tooth up way more than without the darn thing! This one WORKS! I can form it over my braces, its not bite fitted so my teeth can still move how they need to with the braces, but I can make a firm but comfortable little helmet over my tooth that gets knocked loose by my top teeth grinding usually.

Its not bite fitted but it stays in place better, without all the bite form pressures! I can not say it enough, I love this mouth guard! I honestly believe it has helped me save one of my teeth from my own destructive grinding and clenching, and helps me actually get a great nights sleep.

I wear this and sleep on my back instead of my side (i found sleeping on my side makes me clench and grind) and take gaba and magnesium before bed (both are natural muscle relaxers), I firmly believe it is all of these steps that help my particular situation, which is a weird one, loose teeth, braces, night grinding and clenching, I had to share for anyone whos suffering from anything similar.

The Lunaguard is easy to form, but may take two or three tries (or more) before it fits exactly as you like. But it is designed exactly for that possibility, and can be formed and re-formed numerous times.

I have had several expensive nightguards made by dentists, but I was unable to wear any of them. The Lunaguard can be formed to fit either the upper teeth or the lower teeth. I chose the lower teeth because I have a slight overbite.

Every dentist that has ever made a nightguard for me always made it to fit onto my upper teeth. This was never comfortable, and I always woke up with my bite terribly off. But not so with the Lunaguard.

The Lunaguard is so comfortable that within a few minutes I forget I am wearing it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE LUNAGUARD. I have had mine for about a year, and it does not appear to be worn at all. It is very durable.

This mouthguard did not work for me. It didn’t mold correctly . I attempted three times. I followed the instructions. I have large teeth. It doesn’t stay on. I am out the $$ I paid.

You get what you pay for. It is a fraction of the price of one made by a dentist, this shows in its design and material. It is easy to mould, though you may have to redo it to get a comfortable fit. It needs cleaning every morning, with a hot water soak, then a rub and rinse and finally brush with toothpaste and leave for a bit, then a final hot water rinse.

This is to get rid of the mouth smell that clings from wearing it all night, otherwise the smell lingers, which I don’t wish to leave fermenting in its case. The case is a bonus, so you can keep them together and clean, as you get a pair, however storing them in there and being able to click it shut can be a bit fiddly, there is a way to get them in and the case closed, for the life of me can I do it first thing to bring them to the bathroom for washing?! Overall this has helped but I think I left it late to get something to help, as I have toothache in one tooth.

If you’re looking at this review just get it, or at least something even from your dentist! Look after your teeth and see about dealing with whatever’s stressing you out.

Okay but not the best Good things: cheap, holds jaw in comfortable position, prevents grinding, anti-bacterial. Bad things: can’t close your mouth properly, easy to mess up moulding, can irritate gums.

I trier to form the mouthguard multiple times according to the instructions but it still slips off of my teeth. I couldn’t find the brand i had before and unfortunately this wasn’t a good replacement

Lasted all last season with both my high school boys. They play hard and liked they breathing hole, and it didn’t come home all chewed up like the cheap ones. Bought them again for this season

This mouth protector is doing just what I wanted it to do. I wish it were a little more comfortable in my mouth, but it keeps me from behaviors that damage my lips.

Bought for my son because he has the battle break away and was always leaving it somewhere when he needed it!

I have ordered 4 of these (separate impressions) over the past 4 years. Two were perfect and two had to be worn for a month or so before feeling really comfortable. The difference between the two sets is in the impressions.

The last purchase I ruined the impression twice before a knowledgeable Encore technician told me to push the silicone impression gently but uniformly onto the teeth. Other hints. Be sure to give the silicon the full 45 second setting before putting it in your mouth, it has to be hardening enough to make an impression that does not shift when you take it out of your mouth.

It helps to practice first with only the plastic holder in your mouth to test your gag reflex and get used to it. If you are are a Cpap user wear your mask as it makes it easier to breath. For a first time user I would recommend the soft fitting.

So. I’ll start by saying that I was really skeptical and quite nervous to order this. I realized about 2 years ago that I was clenching my teeth when I sleep. I bought several over the counter mouth guards.

I could never find one that I truly liked and definitely not one that was comfortable. I had like six of them by the side of my bed to pick from when I went to bed at night. I went to the dentist in October, 2021 and found out that I had four teeth that had to be fixed!!!! One was a legit cavity but the other three were from cracking because of the clenching.

Ugh I was so upset. They recommended a real mouth guard and quoted me $600!!! I thought no way was I going to spend that much money and not even know if I was going to like it or even wear it. But I knew I had to do something.

So I scoured the internet and found encore, and several others, but I liked the price and how easy the website was to use. So, I ordered it. I got the package to make the mold. I put it off for a few days, cause I was nervous about the process and if I would screw it up and not have it fit right.

But when I did it, I was surprised at how easy it was to do. I followed the directions and watched the video several times. I sent the picture to them and they said it looked good. It took about a week to get it back.

but when I got it, it fit perfect!!! I can tell you that I was absolutely amazed! and it is comfortable too!! I’m not discouraged to put it in my mouth at night, I know I will have a good night sleep with it in and it protects my teeth.

I got the soft one because I wanted it as comfortable as possible and since I don’t grind my teeth I figured that I wouldn’t chew through it. I am so happy that I pursued this. I feel that since I’m not stressed about my clenching and ruining my teeth when I go to bed at night, that maybe I will actually, eventually stop clenching!! I started using mine on 3-9-22, so its been a few weeks and I cant tell you how I wish I had done this sooner.

I recently ordered my second guard from night guard. I was so thrilled with the first one that I wanted a second one to keep at my vacation cottage. Because I never want to be without it!!! Night guards are excellent.

The process is simple? The cost is reasonable, as opposed to having this done by my dentist. And boy do they work. There were times I used to wake my husband up with my tooth grinding. I can now go to sleep feeling secure that I’m not wearing my choppers out from friction.

If you’re interested or curious about having a night guard I wholeheartedly encourage you to give this a try. You will not regret it. I’m thinking of getting a third as a backup!.
