20 Best Skin Moisturizers For Men (2023 Updated)

Embryolisse is an absolute favorite of mine for all things skincare. I have tried their sensitive skin moisturizer and love it, but this is the richer concentrated cream, which I am currently using and have fallen in love with.

I especially like the simplicity of Embryolisse cream – from the color-coded, non-gimmicky packaging, to the natural, tried and true ingredients – shea butter, aloe vera, soy proteins. This is another multi-tasker, that can be used as a primer as well as a moisturizer and makes a great base for make-up and can also be applied slightly more generously as a mask.

It does not have a very thick texture but is fairly fluid making it easy to absorb into the skin. At the same time, it still manages to be a very rich cream, so even my dry skin feels really moisturized, supple and soft, and I can achieve this result very quickly because it goes on so easily.

This makes it a great cream for both morning and night. Unlike the sensitive version, the concentrate has a mild floral scent, probably jasmine, which I really like. Those who react to scents might prefer the unscented product.

I am glad we are seeing more of Embryolisse in Australia; it is a really lovely French brand – they do seem to nail the skincare- and although it is not the cheapest out there at about $41, it is certainly more affordable than many others and actually delivers results.

I was also pleased to learn that it is cruelty-free (although not vegan) which is reassuring and means I can purchase again with a clear conscience!.

Quite some time ago, possibly 8 years ago a friend of mine who worked for shiseido at the time, bought me this as a gift. I had struggled with dry face after showering or shaving for years. Well this changed everything.

No longer was i layering cream on my face that would build up and cause its own issues. I had finally found my perfect moisturiser. 8 years later I am still using this product. I would be devastated if they ever stopped making it.

I don’t use any other products. Just this.

I love this product. I moved to Arizona and my skin got so so so dry. I had read great things about this product and gave it a shot. It didn’t disappoint. It hydrated my skin almost instantly without leaving any residue.

I can break out easily and this was great for my skin. It is expensive and may not be for everyone. But if you have really dry skin and a decent beauty budget this is a fantastic lotion I would highly highly recommend.

Ok on a scale of 5 star, I have to give this product a 10. You can feel the effect immediately just after one time of using it. Not only that, the effect is lasting as well. I only apply the lotion once a day and it keeps my skin soft and hydrated throughout the day.

Highly recommended.

Skincare has changed a lot and there are so many more high quality options on the market now. And La Mer is more money than I want to pay even though it has always been soothing for my sensitive skin.

So in the last few years I have tried several times to switch to highly recommended, dermatologist supported less expensive alternatives for protecting and maintaining skin’s moisture barrier. I have continued using high quality serums and some moisturizing essences at times.

I am not able to tolerate a retinol and have had trouble with vitamin C as well. Even though my prior attempts to change my moisturizer were not successful I listened to everyone who says its foolish to spend so much for something that is just a moisturizer.

So I tried again this year to change my moisturizer. Well, this winter I started struggling with redness, irritation, bumps and itchiness. I tried removing each of my skincare items to figure out if one was causing it.

I tried just using gentle cleansing and moisturizer only. I switched to yet another highly recommended dermatologist approved less expensive alternative. I stopped wearing my make-up. I went for a facial which made things slightly worse.

I was about to call for a dermatologist appointment because I began to wonder if it was some kind of dermatitis or maybe even a fungal infection. I remembered I had a little bit of la Mer left in an old jar.

I put a little bit on the bumps on my forehead and my jaw on the right where it was really bad. Went to sleep. Woke up with smooth calmed skin, no itching for the first time in 2-3 months. Only place I still had itching and bumps was on the left side of my jaw where I had not put any cream.

I think there are a lot of people including dermatologists and influencers who comment on skincare but who don’t have truly dry and sensitive (like really truly VERY dry and sensitive) skin. At this point I have tried at least 8 other highly praised alternatives including everything from CeraVe to medical grade skincare bought directly from the dermatologist in the last few years.

They are all I have no doubt excellent products with very good ingredient lists. But I am here to tell you that if you have really truly dry and sensitive skin look no further than la Mer. I don’t like to waste products so I will use up these last two creams I tried by alternating them with La Mer in the summer months.

But I’m not going to keep trying to replace La Mer. There is no substitute.

I got my hands on a small pot of Creme de la mer and decided to give it a try, after all there had to be some reason this was so highly recommended to me, right? Wrong! Just as I expected from a product that lists ‘mineral oil’ so high up in the ingredients list, and a potentially irritating ‘Eucalyptus Oil’ on the list too, I broke out literally on day 2.

The only positive was that it did slightly clear up a dry patch on my right cheek but to be fair I could have achieved that with anything on my dressing table. It sat like an oily film for hours on my face and its a testament to my patience how I didn’t grab the nearest washcloth to remove it with! Gave this to my mum to try (dry/normal skin type) seeing as I still had a bit left in the pot and her feedback was merely an “it’s ok, nothing special”.

If you have dry skin or suffer from dehydration and are NOT sensitive then by all means give it a try. From an ingredients perspective however there is nothing remarkable about this formulation. Antioxidants.

I really want to say I don’t like it to save my pocket the pain. But, my skin won’t lie. It loves it! I actually tried this creme a few years back (in my 20s), my skin hated it then and it disapproved it by protesting with a bunch of milia and tiny pimples.

The moment I hit my big 3, my skin decided to act wild (extra sensitive in forms of flame ups and pimples) and I tried various products, but this was the only thing that calmed it down. Yes, after a few years my skin decided it likes “miracle broth,” wasted my money back then.

What a grumpy and demanding child! I started with a mini emulsion and creme (gifts from La Mer), then I ran to grab the full size emulsion and creme. And because my skin loved it so much, I bought the creme duet set and another full size emulsion just to make sure I have backups.

The creme feels similar to Nivea cream, but it’s not the same. I tried to get my skin to like Nivea but it simply didn’t like it and didn’t calm anything down, it’s a great moisturizer for the body though.

The smell of Creme de La Mer is more elegant than the smell of Nivea Cream. Someone said rotten seaweed, perhaps they got a bad batch? I love the smell, a very calming sensorial flight for me every time I use it (AM and PM, and sometimes mid day if I go out and decide to wash my face mid day).

I use two pumps of emulsion then follow up with a pearl size of creme warmed up between my finger tips and patted on. My skin calmed, smoothed, lifting, and firmed; and my skin haven’t glow like this since my teens.

Will keep repurchasing until my skin decides it likes another product! The price isn’t bad, you only need a pearl size each time, a 7mL lasts me 2wks and 15mL 4wks with me using it almost 3 times every day.

I bought the creme duet which is a 60mL + 15mL and that should last me a while. If you buy a 60mL (4mths about) at CAD$470, it’s about CAD $4/day, that’s less than the price of a cup of Starbucks each day!.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream might be sufficient if you have oily or normal dry skin. And oily and normal skin beauties can get away with this in winters as well. But if you have dehydrated skin or dry to very dry skin this might not be sufficient for you.

48H moisture claim is boastful and ridiculous and let’s just ignore it. It does not irritate my sensitive skin and neither cause any breakouts. BUT this is the only product from the range which failed to impress me and does not live upto the claims.

Since it is advertised for all skin types and specially recommended for dry skin and it fails to fulfill the claims I’m ranking it low. Not a repurchase and not recommended for dry skin. I loved how it felt on my combination skin in spring and summer.

But in winters as the weather started to get colder, it started to feel not-sufficently-moisturizing for dry weather. My skin felt stretchy sometime after applying the moisturiser. My skin felt dehydrated after continuous usage in winters.

I had to reapply product within an hour and still my skin felt dehydrated.

I have been using this moisturizer for easily over a decade. In my teenage years and early adulthood, I struggled to find a moisturizer that provided hydration but didn’t feel oily. All those I’d find would inevitably leave an oily slick feeling.

I experience T-zone on my face – normal and oily that leans toward being sensitive. Even when I have tried other products via trial and sample sizes from other brands that I have received with purchases, I still return to this product as nothing has compared.

The 1. 7oz jar is $20, but it lasts me about 6 months as you don’t have to use a lot. It’s very reasonable in my opinion. I put a fingertip dot on each of my cheeks, chin, and forehead and blend. As skincare is individual, it may not be to your liking, but it has definitely been my go-to moisturizer for a very long time!.

I use before bed as a hydration fix or under my makeup in a morning for a healthy, plump glow! It contains Hyaluronic Acid which is our skins ‘liquid gold’ and Raspberry Seed Oil to make your skin dewier, plumper and waaay more hydrated! (Not just saying it, I’ve used this cream years! Note my container is the old version!) It’s not too thick or creamy and sinks straight in! The smell isn’t too overpowering, I really hate when you find a good moisturizer and the smell puts you right off!- I can assure you from personal experience that it’s quite a fresh, lovely skincare smell.

You also get a very generous helping of it in the container- a little goes a long way for sure! Being on the more affordable side, this little cream definitely doesn’t scrimp on the bundle of hydrating, plumping properties! I’d be sure to snap this right up if I were you.

Moisturizer prefs are personal and the characteristics of this one are different enough so that it stood out to me amongst the dozens sent in my Birchbox subscription. In fact this is the only one I ended up buying.

Like someone else said, this smells like tea tree oil so if you don’t like that scent. To me, it smells fresh and clean but dissipates properly. I like the gel-like consistency and light weight, it was the differentiator for me.

Keep in mind, that means your skin soaks up more of it; the pea-sized dosage recommendation for high end, denser facial moisturizers doesn’t apply to this one. I use 5x that. That’s not a big deal, IMO, by weight it’s cheaper than some Oil of Olay.

My only beef is the packaging. The shipping box was all paper so that’s great, but the product container is completely unrecyclable. I’d pay more for glass bottle with no throw away pump. Kiehl’s is owned by some massive company so that should mean it’d be super easy, bc plenty of bottles to repurpose.

FYI, my 1 star is NOT about the moisturizer itself, it’s about the size of the tube it comes in. i love the moisturizer, i have been using it for years, it is perfect for my skin, and keeps it smooth and oil free, without being shiny like a product geared towards women’s skin.

in fact, i love it so much, i want to buy it in a bigger size!! which is the reason for my 1 star review. outside of the US, Kiehls sells this product in a bigger, 4. 2 oz/125ml tube, and for some reason they refuse to sell that size to their US customers! this makes no sense from a marketing perspective given the average US consumer’s mentality that bigger is better.

I just started using the product. I do feel a clean tingle with the cleanser and the lotion works wonders on the oils on my face. Im a 64 year old male and my skin is very oily. I live in texas where the temperatures are crazy.

From heat to cold. I received complimentary samples. I highly recommended kiehl’s products.

I read other reviews and was a little nervous given the mixed recommendations. I really like this product. I use this in combination with the moisture surge product first and this product afterwards.

It absorbs fairly quickly considering how thick the cream is. It is a great gentle moisturizer and my skin does great with it. My skin is still very moisturized at the end of the day and it doesn’t feel heavy or oily.

I have been using this moisturizer for many many years. 🙂 The skin of my face used to be extremely dry, to a point embarrassing. When I started using Anti-Age Moisturizer for men after each shower at home, and/or at the gym, the dryness disappeared and remains under control for 24 hours.

It definitely does it’s job and I like the feeling it leaves behind. It’s not oily nor greasy at all and your hands do feel hydrated for a while. Especially important when your hands are always freezing ! I’m not a huge fan of the intense fragrance it leaves behind but it does dissipate fairly well.

I thought I’d try this after my success with their face wash. However, I’m not such a big fan of this product. It’s a big tube and while you get alot for your money it’s still more than the face wash by some way.

The tea tree and witch Hazel type scents are very strong, so if you’re not good with perfumed products then this is a no go. The consistency is on the looser side but I still prefer my la roche posay moisturiser for oil control as I woke up and felt a bit slick in places after using this.

Ok! So I purchased this lotion a few days ago and I have mixed feelings about it. First off the smell is very fresh and woodsy (a little cologne-ish). At first I found that it a smelled very strong and I was thinking that the smell would fade,it ends up only seeming stronger as the day goes.

It goes on greasy as Vaseline lotion does, and I thought it would penetrate the skin faster. I find that I am left with a film or residue on my skin but it does eventually go away. The really positive aspect of this lotion is that it really has made a significant difference to the dryness of my skin! If strong scents and a little greasy feeling don’t bother you, I say go for it!.

This is good lotion, as are several other Vaseline lotions and creams we’ve used for years. Please make a new container. We couldn’t pump out the last quarter of the lotion. Turning it upside down to remove the cover and shake lotion out didn’t work because it was impossible to take off the cover.

We tried prying with several tools. We tried cutting open the bottle to shake lotion into another container. Impossible to cut the bottle open with a serrated hand saw. So the bottle got thrown out and we’ll never buy it again.

Similar to other “men” beauty care items that have scents, but they all have tendency to smell “woodsy” like and kind of like a fresh scent mixed together. I would say the same is for this scent as well.

To me, initially putting lotion on the scent is strong but I don’t think it lingers to make it be off putting to anyone around. The moisture level is definitely there like other lotions sold by Vaseline.

My son is 10 years old and absolutely loves this lotion. After first use he kept it for his own personal use!.

I got this for my husband because his hands were so dry they split. He works outside in the heat All day. His hands would crack and bleed. He has tried several brands aimed towards his problem, with no luck.

This product really penetrates and provides moisture for severely dry skin. He used it the morning before work and in the evening when he came home. He saw a noticeable difference with just a few uses.

This is a great smelling product. My fiance and all my boys use it. It is great value for the money you pay. My fiance doesn’t have to wear cologne. He takes a hot shower then puts this amazing smelling fast absorbing smooth lotion on.

Great lotion for dry skin. I use this on my skin and it works great! If you own skin and that skin is dry and even if it’s not dry, like whatever the opposite of that is, you should buy this and use it on said skin.

You probably, most likely won’t regret this purchase. Unless maybe it was your very last few dollars and you were about to starve to death and for some reason you decided to buy lotion for your skin instead of a nice little meal, then you’d probably regret purchasing this.

Been using this product for several years, now having problems finding item. I prefer fragrance free because the fragrant lotions make me nauseous. Why in the world would you stop making this product when it is one of your popular products.

I am having a difficult time trying to find something that works as great as this. I think you should reply to some of these reviews and tell us why you decided to discontinue this item.

I use the Hydra Energetic moisturizer daily in conjunction with the eye roll on. As someone with sensitive overtly oily skin I found it hard to find a decent skincare range for me but this is the best – it leaves my face feeling smooth and it absorbs quickly but it’s not greasy like other moisturisers.

An affordable price as well so it doesn’t break the bank. Nice one Men Expert!.

Generally aircon in the office would dry my skin. I found that there was a noticeable reduction in dry skin between my eyebrows and side of nose. The consistency of moisturiser was fine and easily applied to the face.

When I trimmed round my beard with razor, the skin did not become irritated like some other balms. I did notice that if I applied in the morning after a shower and left for work, my face was a little damp and I felt cold with the wind.

But I may just need to give more time to apply before leaving the house. Generally the smell was pleasant and not overpowering. The smell did not conflict with deodorant or aftershave. I have a small amount left after using day and night, I am going to give it another few days before I decide if I would continue as part of my morning and night routine.

From what I have experienced so far, I think I might start to look for this item mainly because its not just a moisturiser but after shave balm of sorts.

I used the moisturizer for approx 10 days and liked it but didnt love it. Theres definitely a cooling effect for a short while after applying the moisturiser which I liked as it makes you feel fresh.

The moisturiser is easily spreadable and a little bit can go a long way which is good. After applying, it almost feels like if you were to touch your face it would be mildly sticky, but this is not the case, it dries fast without any stickiness or oilyness.

So overall I like the product, although the biggest negative for me is the fragrance. Didn’t like the scent, particularly as it clashes with any other fragrance you might be wearing and being on your face you can smell it all day long.

So definitely would prefer if it were fragrance free.

My skin is so happy since I’ve added this brand to my daily skincare regimen. Highly recommend. (I couldn’t tag the Peptide 4 hydrating sleep mask from Elemis, so I will attach a picture. these two products work beautifully together!).
