20 Best Skid Steer Tree Puller (2023 Updated)

I have owned this for about a year now and have found that it has really come in handy with all the tree work I have had to do on the property. There are a few issues I have run into though. 1. Not really an issue more of a caution.

When using on skid steers I have found you really have to be careful on how wide you open the jaws up and then tilt a load back towards the cab. I bent the quick connects at the point of attachment on the skid steer arm when I had a full load and then tilted it off the ground.

May just be a bobcat skid steer issue on quick connect placement but the only way to get the quick connects off was to cut them off. and it bent the quick connects on the skid steer itself. (may just be user error.

but) 2. the placement of the hydraulic lines on the attachment itself are a major issue. I have broken the hoses off at the attachment point 3 times now. an easy fix for this would be to weld a steel L shaped plate right in front of the attachment points to protect them from branches and trees that can come right through and tear the house out of the adapter housing, pretty easy.

This is not a cheap fix and I will be welding some angle Iron on the attachment to address the issue. I have tried to be careful when picking up trees but some time those branches just pop through when you close the grapple.

and bam another $100 hose repair. Other than that it is a great attachment it is heavy duty and picks up anything you can throw at it. I would recommend it to others but I would encourage the MFG to add that piece of steel to protect the hose connectors on the attachment itself.

This grapple is a beast, maybe too much for my 50 horse LS tractor but it has worked great so far. I have only had it one weekend but I already cleared and irrigation ditch of Russian olive trees (the kind with big thorns).

I was able to pull them out by the roots with a little effort. The effort was required due to my under powered tractor, not the grapple. I pulled 3 and 4 inch trees and this thing really ate them up.

I closed it on the trees and feared the teeth may bend but they did not. The 3/8 inch steel in the middle and half inch on the ends held up very well. I could hear the trees crunch. This is one time I decided to get what I thought would work best rather than what was cheapest.

The only reason I didn’t rate them a 5 is due to the shipping. It showed up a week later than originally promised. I do think it was the fault of FED X and not Titan, I never had a delivery issue with other orders, so I stayed with 4 stars.

Great overall, 1 potential problem. The hydronic hose splitter is vulnerable to catastrophic failure due to exposure of being hit, the splitter is being held by a 3/8 welded bolt that is unprotected.

The Fix. Take a peice of 6 inch by 1/4 Strap 16 to 18 inches long and weld it in front of Splitter to protect it from limbs and branches this would make it the best I have ever seen. PS i am doing this myself on my new grapple to eliminate possible future problems.

Finally got all the hydraulics and everything hooked up and were able to use the Grapple this past week. As noted by other reviews, we pulled all the covers and checked all the hydraulic lines for loose connections.

Someone at Titan must have been reading the reviews, because all the connections were tight! Went to grease everything up and 2 of the Grease Zerks were missing. All of the rest were not even tight. only started threading by hand! Beware! After a thorough going over, all is good.

Something to remember, with the new Grapple, 3rd Function Valve Kit and new hydraulic hoses, we had to add 2-1/2 gallons of Hydraulic Fluid. check your level. Grapple worked like a charm working on a burn pile.

Now, to go cut down some trees and brush to try out the main reason we got it for.

I bent the tips moving big long because of an uneven grap on my part. I ended up cutting the 2 tips off making them shorter and pointed. The original tip was great pulling logs out of stacks with the corner of grapple but 4k logs bent them easy.

Mostly my fault but quick fix.

Well built unit, however, the jaws stick together at the bottom when no log is in it. Had to add a stop at upper end to keep jaws apart about an inch. I’m using it with a lift pole (hog lift) so I added a couple of pulleys and rope to open the jaws after delivering log so I don’t have to get off the tractor to free it from the log.

Handy when working alone. Overall I’m pleased with the unit.

I was looking for a log grapple to grip and move smaller diameter logs and was having difficulty finding any. I found this one and ordered and it does exactly what I needed. It has three points on the gripping sides to grip the log instead of the normal one point.

I would recommend this to anyone.

Great grip, easy to use, mobility is 360%, well worth the money in a time when money is very tight.

Received the puller and the next day decided to use it to pull a tiny arborvitae Stump out from an area we couldn’t stump grind. We set our anchor point in a nice straight line according to the pullers instructions.

Set tension and cranked away. The Stump came out about 3/4’s of the way out and just held on for dear life. So I cranked on the puller even more the rope became very tight but not to where you could stand on it without it sagging to the ground so I doubt we even hit 1000lbs pull.

But after getting it tight enough to pup the stump out it bent the arm and is now unusuable, we’re ordering a new handle assembly to see if it was a fluke. Hopefully so I like the thing.

I learned of this rope puller from a tree surgeon on YouTube who gave an excellent demonstration of its design and performance. Have used it to great effect now myself and am delighted with it. Good kit at a fair price and quickly delivered.

This rope winch is great for small jobs and easy to use. I found it much more user-friendly then a cable winch. Fortunately I found out about this rope winch in a YouTube video. The YouTube video is awesome! The instructions that come with the Rope winch are confusing, crowded and unclear.

I have purchased other attachments for my Kioti tractor from Titan and was completely satisfied with product quality, construction and price. This grapple did not disappoint me at all. The speed of delivery and the attention to detail in shipping was exceptional.

I had to increase the rear ballast with 300 pounds of suitcase weights to offset the weight of the grapple on the front of the tractor. It works great handling brush and trees as well as concrete slabs as large as 4′ x 4′! I did have to change out the flat face connectors for the Pioneer style I currently have on my tractor.

It would be nice to allow the customer to request the fit to their tractor or skid steer. This grapple is so ruggedly constructed that with proper maintenance and care will be almost indestructible. Other products on the market that I have seen don’t come near the quality and customer service as I have experienced with Titan.

I would love to give this grapple 5 stars. This thing is built much stronger than the equivalent land pride attachment. Yes it is heavy but you can work it hard, the hydraulics are strong on it. A word of caution, it does have the roller type hydraulic connectors, so be ready if you have to change them like I did to fit my Kubota.

I am very happy with my purchase overall and would highly recommend it to anyone but the reason I have to drop one star is because of the quick attach pin holes. I have had to weld some metal shims in the holes to tighten it up against the pins.

Otherwise, when dozing, it pops off very easily. The grapple looks mean and is mean. It’s almost perfect and the best value you could get.

Overall the grapple rake was well built. One design flaw related to my skid steer. The flex hoses connect near the bottom and are not constrained. As the grapple is rotated flat, the flex hoses are very susceptible of getting pinched/cut when rotating the grapple back to a vertical position.

I solved this by fabricating a small box near the top center of the attachment for the hoses to route through and attached a spring. Overall a nice attachment once I solved the flex hose movement.

It wouldn’t pull up grass had I tried that. Big, heavy-thought it was perfect. then I hooked it to a small root to pull up, all it left was “teeth” marks. Ok, on to a smaller stump/root. still nothing.

so beyond disappointed. I returned it and that wasn’t an easy task either! But the store was helpful and finally I got my $113. 00 back. I left with cash but still carry the disappointment, I take pride in my property and this was worthless!!.

It is very well built, and I tried it on a few trees. I had trouble with the bark being pulled off. I found it easier to just put the log chain around the tree twice. I will probably try using it again and might like it, but if I knew what I do now, I would not have bought it, or would have bought the smaller size.

I think a smaller one for smaller trees would be good. Log chains slip off of smaller trees. This one is too big to use on smaller trees. I cannot complain about the price as the price is reasonable.

I use it for about a week. A smaller trees are better with a side-by-side and also if you take a hammer and you tap the brush grubber before use on small trees it gives you better grip. I specially like that I can use it on my big bucket tractor.

Overall this is an amazing product.

For trimming large branches this is the best tool to control fall other than a full crew. The unlimited pull length gives versatility to this puller. Plan your work and work your plan. Falling wood is treacherous and unlike a crew this tool will not call 911 ! Read the directions.

Using this tool requires a bit of technique. It is fun to use if you understand the directions.

I use this for tree work. This is a very hardy and stoutly built come-along. Design works as intended. Only issue encountered is both ends of the frame have sharp corners -easy enough to deal with.

Great product!! I love ratcheting detent positions. We’ve all been there trying to set up a puller by ourselves and an arm falls off, it’s not square and slips off and then you have to realign it. This puller eliminates that pain allowing you to easily align and set it up pretty much one handed on either internal or external bearings and pulleys.

Highly recommend anyone that uses a puller often to really look into purchasing these. It makes your day go by smooth without the added frustration of finding the arms for your puller or the nuts and bolts that hold everything together.

These arms slide right in and stay locked in place using either 2 jaws or 3 jaws. The blow molded case makes it nice and keep everything organized for easy access.

I just used this puller to remove the rear hubs from my 1917 Detroit Electric car. This puller is much better than the Harbor Freight wonder I was trying to use before. The hubs are attached with a tapered joint which requires a shock to break loose.

The screw is turned down at the hex so a few hammer blows to the end ot the screw does not distort the hex. Nicely finished forged pieces, grade 5 bolts to assemble, can be put together in several different configurations depending on what you are taking apart.

The one thing I would like to see is a thrust bearing on the tip of the screw to make turning easier without binding. The box gives a part number for a “tip protector” but it is nowhere to be found. Pro tip – When turning the screw, put an adjustable wrench on an unused leg of the puller hub to prevent turning.

This tree and post puller will actually grab onto any tree and hold it tightly. The strength of the attachment is pretty high because it is built well. Thick steel and good welds. The size of the tree you can yank out is solely limited to the strength and power of the tractor you use it with.

The cylinder is strong enough to pinch most trees 2 inches and below right in half. Gotta be careful closing it or you waste a lot of time just cutting trees down. The only thing I would suggest in a future design is a blocker weld to the top that would have a slight forward tilt that would help keep the trees from falling back towards the tractor.

I’ve used it only a few times because I’m waiting for the leaves to fall off the trees. Also, I need to watch a few videos to see how to use it properly. The first tree I attempted to pull out was about 4 inch in diameter and it actually cut the tree off rather than pull it out by the roots.

Most importantly! You should include the standard hydraulic connectors for tractors or include in the instructions the part number of the connectors for Kubota and other brands. I’ll give a more detailed review after using it a bit more.

The shipping cage was destroyed but, the puller was not damages other than paint blemishes.

Wow, very impressive, heavy duty and very heavy. My little Massey tractor can handle it, I have to keep my heavy “ Bull” bush hog ON to balance the weight. I had to put a different quick disconnect to match my hydraulic controller lines.

Just purchased Stump Bucket Grapple Attachment Extreme Duty. During first use the attachment fell off my JD skid steer. I reattached it but noticed that the left side had too much play at the coupler.

Measured the attachment upper channel to the lower plate and found the left side was 3/16 to 1/4 greater than the right side. This is the reason for the excess play. I believe it’s a manufacturing defect.

Sending in pictures and video to Titan online warranty support. I hope they treat me fairly. I paid $1999. 00 and two weeks later received email promoting a special price of $1699. 00 for the same attachment.

Titan should honor this lower price if they value me as a customer. I have seven attachments that I use on my skid loader and at least three of them were purchased from Titan. This last attachment is the only one that has fallen off so it’s not my machine that’s causing the problem.

I can’t use this new attachment safely until this problem is corrected.

Bucket works as I expected. As others reviews have stated I received my unit with leaky hydraulic fittings. I had to take them apart and put more Teflon tape on them. The collar on the female Hydraulic fitting that has to be slid back to remove it off the skid steer is very hard to slide and will need to be replaced.

Not really happy having to buy and fix things on something that is brand new. Hopefully titan will replace fittings and make it right.

So far very happy with this purchase 2 fittings leaked (5 minute fix) Hoses 1 zip tie holders them out of way, mostly I was a little worried about the weight of the grapple on my small machine ( Clark model 630 bobcat ) the largest log so far was just under 20” diameter and 5’+ish long.

Grabbed from the small end, sticking straight out. It was near the limit of my machine. But very drivable on flat ground. Judging from the pieces I moved by hand, it was 500 to 600 lbs.

Overall quality is excellent and a value for the money. It took about ten days to arrive. The open top / side steel crate protected it fairly well. Arrived with a few scuff and bruises but nothing broken.

The local delivery driver the shipper sent was experienced and professional. I tightened up all the fittings as others recommended. No leaks. I was a bit disappointed that the pivot pins for the grapple lids were just bolts and not greaseable pins.

I’ll be looking to upgrade them in the future. When I dropped my bucket off the JD 300 loader, the grapple fit perfectly – only needing a washer/shim on each pin to take up a little bit of curl slack.

Overall I am very pleased with this unit and the time it saves me. My back says THANK YOU as well.

I use grapple for logging. It works good for picking up single logs, but not multiple smaller logs. I even was able to pick logs out of my trailer. The long lower tines allowed me to hand load a large quantity of smaller logs like I would with just a bucket.

Works great for brush. Make sure to double check all the hydraulic fittings. Most were hand tight. But all and all, I would definitely buy again.

I purchased an Eterra 3500 auger with rock bit and cement mixer drum a couple years ago. I have used it to build fence, drill holes for a pole building, and mix cement for fence posts and a pad for my propane tank.

I am pleased with the unit and would buy it again for myself. Recently I had a fence company build 800 feet of horse fence on a property that has very rocky soil. The fence company brought their own Bobcat with its own auger which broke shortly after they started work.

I loaned them my Eterra so they could keep going. The fence experts were really impressed with the Eterra and are trying to convince their boss to junk their auger and buy one like mine.

I bought the Eterra 3500 auger. Skid Steer Solutions was very very helpful in me making the right decision in what unit to buy. It came to me just like they said it would, in every respect. This is a great company to buy from.

They are straight foreword, honest, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful both before and after the sale. It’s good to know outfits like this are still around.

I bought this last year. It is a great setup, the only part I have not used is the cement mixer attachment. The one draw back is the wife wanted a lot more trees planted after she saw how easy it was to dig the holes.

I highly recommend these products.

Save yourself the time and frustration right now and if you’re about to or even possibly in the future may need to remove drums from a vehicle, go out and purchase this today. I needed to replace the breaks on my daughters car, I spent 2 days removing one drum, using everything a had.

Prybars, hammers, sledges, torches, I was exhausted and defeated. None of the gear pullers I had were large enough so I started my search for something that would make the other side easier, especially since the other side was most definitely seized.

After visiting a few auto part stores and not only not finding what I was looking for, the sales associates essentially told me nothing on the market existed that be any better then what I had been doing.

That’s when I found this little godsent tool. I was at first a little hesitant to spend $80 on a tool I very likely will only need once but believe me, I’d pay double that just to save myself the lost time alone removing a drum the old fashioned way.

This tool works beautifully, it was a little tricky to get it into position alone until there was some tension because it isn’t the lightest tool so I highly recommend a helper for that part, though you wont’ need them very long.

It removed the drum like a hot knife through butter, it was almost too easy. It comes in a really nice case and doesn’t take that long to assemble, although it will need to be completely disassembled in order to go back into the case, that would be my only complaint.

Although since it’s not a tool I’ll be using very often, the few minutes spent putting it back together is a small insignificant detail for the ease at which this thing does it’s job. This should be something all home mechanics keep.

Especially for drum brakes. For more detail on my usage. I used this on smaller drums, 15″ wheels, there was still plenty of room and could of accommodated much larger drums.

I had a gear that was seized to an engine shaft. Heating it up and using a standard three jaw puller did nothing. I decided to give this puller a try. Without heating the gear, this puller removed the gear with little effort.

It took more time to assemble the puller than to remove the stuck gear. The puller kit comes with extra seals which I assume are for the cylinder. I will most likely use it again when I get deeper into this project.

It seems to be great, although a little pricy for occasional use. Not sure how long it would last in a regular automotive or equipment repair scenario.

Well built and easy to use; plenty of power. Kind of heavy and awkward, but you would expect that for what it does. Even comes with extra O-rings for rebuilding the cylinder. Has a well built heavy plastic case.

Used this to pull off a rusted on driven clutch on a Ezgo TXT golf cart. Pulling horizontal, I thought I would need an extra hand to position the puller, but the actuator easily screwed down into position and a with few pumps the clutch slid off.

Wish I would have bought this years ago! Absolutely satisfied. Don’t know how durable it will be, but I expect it will last.

If you have heifers and don’t have one of these, just hope your vet. does! This is probably the best money I have ever spent. A vet. at UGA told me to buy one and hope you never have to use it. I bought one and have used it four times within the first month of purchasing it.

Totally not a 1 person calf puller. Spring too hard to release. Jack handle hits the ground before calf is extracted. Not a good choice.

This is a nice grapple. The few things I would change about it are that the pins are plug welded from the inside both of my pins broke first grapple load. I re welded them and haven’t had a problem. The only other thing I would change is to rake the back of the grapple 20° so the grapple forks touch the ground when you tilt it all the way over.

Everything else works as should. Fast shipping.

I’m very pleased with the overall quality of the grapple. My only negative comment is the bolt that is welded to the top of the grapple to secure the hydraulic lines. That is going to get hit and break off.

I would recommend welding some type of a guard or shield to protect that fragile spot. other than that I am very pleased.

The grapple is great — very heavy duty. The only recommendation I would make is to better protect the main hydraulic components on the left side where the stud bolt is welded. There is a protective channel next to it that protects the hydraulic lines for a couple of feet, but it would be good to have it extend further to shield the other sensitive hydraulic components.

I will likely weld a flat piece of steel near this spot to serve as a frontal shield to help prevent branches and debris from hitting/tangling this vital area.

Heavy well built grapple and frame. I did have to do quite a bit of grinding to the quick tach part to get it to fit onto my skid steer, the pins wouldn’t go in at all at first. Also you have to put the 9 spears on, they don’t come attached and have a tendency to get lost in shipping like mine did.

I called titan attachment and they shipped me out 9 more that same day. It works great to pick up a big round bale and works great cleaning corals. I didn’t give it 5 stars because they didn’t specify that the spears come separate and you have to impact them on and also because of the grinding I had to do to get it to attach.

If you know how to modify and make thing work this is a great attachment, but if u want a hook up plug in and go attachment I would recommend another brand. Like I said before it works great and is heavy built to last.

Works great, picks a big load and keeps it together. I have also used to move hay bales.

I cam pretty fast. Easy to install. The first impressions are positive, lets see how well it holds in the future.

This grapple is awesome, finally got it hooked up to my John Deere 323E and I love it, excellent quality, works perfect for my business which is tree work. I bought this about a year ago and have used it for everything from hauling big logs to huge rocks and tree limbs. There is just no way my Kubota L-3830 tractor could ever tear it up. Some guy (not a verified purchaser, by the way) said he couldn’t get the company to supply a cylinder.

That’s crap. If you ever do succeed in wearing out a cylinder on this thing (which I double you will do), there are about a million inexpensive ones available on EBay. Delivery was quick and on time, and I just wish I had bought this 25 years ago! Doug.
