Installed the Thermic app and paired the heaters. Confirmed they worked as described. Unfortunately, my first day on the mountain 3 weeks later: 1. The app constantly disconnects from the heaters. Sometimes I could reconnect but mostly: 2.

Bluetooth can locate the heater signal but when I try to pair it, BT claims there isn’t an app on the phone to connect them to them, even though the app is installed. 3. If I try to use the app to connect the blue tooth, I get “no product found” error message even though Bluetooth detects it.

4. Now one heater won’t turn on at all so I can’t even control them manually. 5. Tried reinstalling the app and rebooting the phone but that doesn’t help. Batteries fully charged. This is probably a Thermic battery/heater and/or app quality problem.

Check out the reviews on the Thermic app and you will see the low ratings and similar complaints. Thermic MUST know their app and heaters are undependable but it and Rossignol continue promoting and selling this defective/inferior product to unsuspecting customers.

Fortunately REI has a 1 year even if worn policy so back the boots will go next week unless Thermic or Rossignol has a solution and both warranty that if the heaters fail during the 2022 ski season I will get a 100%.

I am short and yet only 130lbs so while my calves may be a little thick, I’m not overweight. No heat on the bottom of my foot. I get cold very easy and ski in cold temps (below zero with windchill) and am disappointed that there isn’t a heating element in the sole of the boot so I still have to wear toe warmers which defeats the point of this purchase A bit stiff for me but that may be because I am a advanced beginner/intermediate skiier.

Very good boot for an intermediate to advance skier. Good balance between comfort and performance, however the positives end there. The heater element is complete junk. Worked well for the first outing, after that the left boot lost its charge.

Can’t get it to turn on or take a charge. Right boot has now done the same thing. Customer service from Rossignol or Therm-ic is nonexistent. Save yourself my aggravation and heat your boot with hottronics or thermic’s socks.

Skiing in the resort, you’d never know these boots have a touring mode. They’re as locked down and stable as any boot out there with great smooth/progressive flex. The stock liners are surprisingly good.

Warmer than average, and easy enough to break in. The grip walk soles have great traction, which is great for walking around, and a huge confidence boost on exposed booters – which brings me to their touring performance.

I’ve done multiple 5k+ human-powered days in these boots, and considering how great the downhill performance is and how at home they feel at the resort, these boots tour amazingly well. The walk mode is easy to actuate and is very obvious when it’s engaged/released.

The amount of cuff rotation is totally adequate and isn’t much of a factor in my skinning stride. Not so heavy they’re awful on the up, but plenty of meat to get you down the hill feeling confident and comfortable in technical/exposed terrain.

Bottom line, if these boots fit your feet and you ski mostly at the resort with less than half of your days touring, these are an awesome option for a quiver of one, go anywhere, do anything boot. I couldn’t be happier with them!.

Awesome boots, but know you need an experienced boot fitter to take advantage of the punchable stippled areas that can be expanded to remove hot spots and areas that rub. I highly recommend custom foot beds as well.

These ban also be modified internally to account for leg length differences of up to about 1/4 inch. (No more planing and grinding the outside. yay!!!) These were great day one after a loNg session with the expert fitter.

DO be forewarned, the hard plastic shell over the instep where the boot bends for the ankle joint is excruciating if you don’t shield yourself from it when pushing into or out of the boot. My fitter punched it some, but it still closes like sharp jaws are puns your foot if you are too hasty.

It must be either held open or buffered with the boot tongue. (Do not pull the boot tongue sideways on this one to get the boot on/off) !.

Upgraded my boots this year and am glad I went with these. I am and advanced skier. Though I mostly do resort skiing, I am getting more into backcountry and side country, so was looking for a crossover boot that could do both.

I like skiing aggressively and always seek out the steepest terrain when I ski. These boots weigh almost 2lbs less per boot than my previous Rossignol Alltracks, which is very noticeable both when skiing downhill and uphill touring.

The stiffness is close to a true 130. The walk feature of the boot is quite remarkable with claimed 54degrees. The liner limits this a bit, but still much more than my previous alltracks. I find these are the perfect boot for what I was looking for— As close to a one boot quiver as possible.

They are not as light as a dedicated touring boot, but they ski like a proper alpine boot. They are almost as light as my friend’s Salomon S/lab boots, but stiffer. I did a lot of research in this crossover category boot and this seemed like the best option for frontside/weight/touring capability.

I almost went with with the Ultra XTD as I have a narrow foot, but chose the prime XTD as I have a very high instep and wanted the bit of extra space in case we had to mold the top of the shell, plus a bit more comfort for touring.

These fit my feet like a glove after heat molding. The 100g extra/boot compared to the Ultra XTD is negligible. I like that I have the option for pin bidings as well, though currently am using marker tour bindings which also work well as a hybrid ski/touring option.

I bought these boots for my teenager instead of renting equipment for the season. They love the boots and said they needed very little breaking in (mostly entering the boot) to be comfortable. They loved the fuzzy warm interior and the flip switch to make it easier to walk.

If there is anything they complain about it is that the boots are a bit heavy to carry. However, once they are on their feet, they don’t want to take them off. I like that they are able to put these on easier than rental ski boots and that the toes aren’t pinched.

Based on the quality I think these boots will last.

These are my FIRST pair of ski boots. Have not had them on the slopes yet, but they fit so well. For reference, I take a size 7, but my foot is on the wide side, and size 23-23. 5 was just too small in every brand.

These are size 24. 5 ,and they are just about perfect. They are pretty darn girly (not my style), but they fit so well that I’m comforting myself because my pants will mainly hide the flowery bits. Highly recommend.

I ordered the size 27 and I am a size 10. 5 shoe (28. 5 cm foot exactly). They fit perfect. Every claim the make on the website and every review you read online are correct. If you want performance AND comfort these are for you.

Incredible pair of boots for a bargain. Was looking for a high performance boot that was modestly designed, without a rainbow of colors on them and these were it. Only got to use them once this season but I cant wait for next years skiing here in upstate New York.

Sexy sexy sexy. I was worried that it would be itchy but it wasn’t. Feels good against my skin. It’s a little more revealing than what I’d normally wear but this is the perfect top to tale me out of my comfort zone.

Hard to find a 27. 0 liner in a 315 shell in a softer flex 110 performance boot. I’m 66 (Advanced/Expert). and my Tecnica 130’s are still great but just too stiff to stuff my 10. 5 street foot any more into a 26.

5 liner and 304 shell on a cold morning` and I wanted anymore fle. Though I’m still breaking in the boot, the extra 1/2 size of a 27 gives me just enough toe room I just didn’t have previously. I’ve added a small footbed as the liner packs but there is no question that the boot construction gives me just the right amount of flex in the tongue to get my feet in, and as far as skiing so far so good.

These as 100mm wide which is a little narrower then my measured width I wanted a tight side to side fit which will conform as they are used. These ski as well as my Technica’s (ALU’s) and much more comfortable while maintaining little loss in control.

Ski’s are 184 cm Blizzard Russler 9’s with Pivot 14’s. I weigh165 and ski aggressive/fun but not Racer Guy, so a softer ski and the forward flex of the Nordica’s match up well for my have fun style.

Skied years ago and re-started during covid because of lack of anything else to do. Forgot how much I love skiing, and also forgot how incredibly uncomfortable the boots are. Rented first time to the mountains and it took 4 pairs to find one that I could even get my foot into.

I have a wide forefoot and a high arch. nothing was comfortable. Salesman at Totem Outdoor recommended these and while I did not want to buy new quite yet, the minute I (easily) slipped my foot into these, I knew I was sunk.

Easy on/off, super light, no pinchy areas, and the single ratchet is super quick. My feet feel like they are walking on pillows and I can easily ski a full 7 hour day with no numbing issues at all. 10 thumbs up for these!.

These are great boots, much like the rear-entry boots of the ’80s. These are so easy to get into and out of. There’s no need for 95% of skiers to have 4-5 buckles on front. This fit well; although there was a little too much room at the toes, I just got a replacement insole with a little more to it, and now they fit great.

Not much to adjust, so you should definitely try on first. Sadly, it seems like Atomic might not be making these anymore.

I never bother to review things but these boots deserve it. In the lead up to our holiday I had tried and failed to find some boots that didn’t cause me endless pain. Day one of the holiday and my wider calves were covered in bruises due to the boots I had.

I was reluctant to buy a new pair but if I didn’t I wouldn’t have been able to continue skiing. I am a beginner and it was making me miserable. My husband who is a confident skier and severa other people kept saying ski boots aren’t comfortable.

I by chance tried a small independent ski shop and they said this was the only suitable pair they had for wide calves. I tried them on and they felt great. I was still nervous as I know the pain with ski boots isn’t always straight away.

I decided at this point I might as well go for it otherwise I wouldn’t be skiing again. Best decision ever as I was able to ski pain free for the rest of the holiday and I am looking forward to another trip later in the year.

I literally want to tell the entire world and in particular ladies with big calves that skiing can be comfortable and these boots are an investment for enjoyment. I am so grateful they were made!!!.

Best boots I’ve ever worn. They flex just as I picture my body flexing without boots. Super warm. The intuition liner when you flex it, it doesn’t crease the way a regular boot has and doesn’t have those uncomfortable pressure points.

The colour is awesome. I skied 8 days in a row in japan without wearing them before and didn’t have any growing pains. These boots are legit.

This top is really cute. I do love the style and fit. True to size as well. I bought a similar one on Amazon but this Bohme top fabric quality was so much better!!

Very disappointed in this boot, atomic and REI. I purchased these boots skis and bindings from rei in March 2017. I skied 2 seasons on them. Packed them for my first trip of this season and found them cracked.

I showed them to the boot fitters at the mountain that I was at for the weekend and they said it was a known manufacturers defect and that Atomic was a good company and don’t want this to represent them so they will replace if I go back to my purchase site.

I took them to the rei in Framingham where I purchased them and was told it was a manufact defect but out of REIs one year return policy and to contact Atomic. I submitted the information to atomic and was declined any replacement, credit etc.

My last boots were $100 cheaper and lasted 4 times as long. I had $50 used renal boots that were better. Dont give yourself the worry or the potential injury with this defective boot. And dont count on REI to help you with defects in products they put you in past a year unfortunately.

I recently bought these and let me tell you, these may be the greatest boot ever created for a casual skier. I’m an intermediate to advanced skier but I ski very relaxed not hardcore. I care more about comfort than performance and let me tell you, these changed my outlook on skiing the rest of my life.

Heard so many things about how rear entry boots are for old people, well I’m in my mid-20s and I will be buying rear entry for the rest of my life. For the first time ever, I had zero pain or soreness in my legs at the end of the day.

As a bigger guy (6’3, 225 lbs), I’ve always had issues with leg pain and soreness. The relief that is felt once you undo the back buckle is incredible. It feels as if you are walking in a normal work boot.

Every time I finish a run, I undo the buckle until I get to the back to the top. I take way less breaks now and my legs feel great by the end of the day. As for performance, I truly feel no difference than a standard boot (but again I am not a hardcore skier).

These boots are obviously expensive, but to me they are worth every penny. I highly recommend these to anyone that loves skiing but hates the leg pain because with these leg pain is obsolete. Simply an incredible boot.

PS. The only issue I had was that I felt the front buckle on the top of foot was kind of flimsy. Haven’t had any problems yet but seems like they went with a lighter weight rather than higher quality for that one buckle.

I bought this boot (elite heat) to replace my cheap and very uncomfortable dalbellos. They were too small in my calves and foot. These are Very wide for my calves which I have a problem with finding boots to accomadate.

The elites don’t come with a booster strap which is kind of trash considering the boots 200 bucks cheaper do. The heated insoles are negligible. I don’t feel them unless they’re at 100% power (10) and even then you only feel it on the top of your feet barely.

honestly would get the 120s next time 200 dollars cheaper and come with a booster which I had to buy. They are super comfortable and very easy to get into. I don’t like the heel lock strap, it’s not only too low on the foot IMO , but it won’t go rtight enough to really lock the heel in.

If I could get it tighter or an aftermarket one it would to lock my heel in better. Honestly I can’t stress how comfortable and easy these boots are. Everyone rags on rear entry boots but there’s zero reason to not buy them.

Easy to get into and VERY responsive. I’d put them against any boot on the market for a non professional skier. I will absolutely get another pair, but ditch the elite heat and just get the 120s. They also say the flex is 110 in the elite hears but I’m pretty sure it’s significantly lower.

Very soft. Again I love these boots. But several little things would make these boots the best.

Nordica HF Elite. The Best! solved problems I didn’t even know I had! I had a hip replacement last year and didn’t want to bend over struggling to get into boots anymore. These are “no hands” slip on, just like slippers! The video shows the truth! For 50 years I’ve suffered with extra ankle protrusions getting rubbed raw.

The gel liner forms around them gently. No matter how tight I adjust the boots, when I take them off, there are NO red marks on my feet or shins!. (And no more struggle to take boots off! Just need to hold them down while pulling your foot out.

) I’ve bought multiple sets of boot heater footbeds, that stop working after a year or two, and don’t keep my toes warm anyway. The built in heaters on these boots warm the top of my foot and my toes stay warm! Walking from the car or lodge to the ski lift in the old boots was always a struggle.

With these boots, leaving them unbuckled lets you walk almost as if you just had shoes on. They have special walking pads on the bottom of the boot and even come with extras. These boots are very lightweight as well.

The adjustments are simple – there are only two of them. I always hated skiing through the long bunny area at the bottom of the hill because my quadricepts would scream for mercy trying to hold a semi-snowplow for so long.

I don’t know what the reason is, but I can ski that bottom part with no pain now. That also means my legs don’t get tired so soon, and I have increased my ski time by 50%. Who knew! Years ago I had rear entry boots and loved them then.

I am so happy Nordica has brought them back, with even better technology than ever! I hesitated because I didn’t think I’d be doing much skiing anymore, but these boots have changed my skiing so much, they are worth every penny! Skiing is so much more fun now!.

These boots are an awesome freeride-touring option for lower-volume feet. Basically that’s the only touring boots on the market now that can accommodate a low-instep narrow foot with low-volume calves and provide good heel fixation and overall snug feeling fit.

The plastic is easily molded (no problem adding a few mm’s of width or punching). Simple and reliable ski-to-walk switch. Its 130 flex isn’t overstiffened, it’s progressive and provides reasonable amount of suspension which feels great offpiste.

The only complaints I have – it looks like in recent iteration (or for certain markets) K2 changed the cam-strap to a simple metal buckle (you can see it on the official K2 website). While it might help save a few grams, it doesn’t fixate well and untightens on its own.

At least on my low-volume calves. So had to change it to a booster strap. And also the upper buckles doesn’t secure in a fully open (reverse) position (like they do in many touring boots). But these are pretty minor issues and overall I’m quite happy with the boots.

With 100+ days of pro patrol and bc use I have been impressed with design. Power to weight ratio, skiing stance, fit, liner, durability, warmth, and uphill performance are all excellent. Updated design of heel walk mode lever helped with Look Pivot compatability.

The boot toe’s squared off top edge can contact the base of the toepiece locking lever on the new ATK Raider 12 and 2018 (original design) Marker Kingpin 12 when the end of the forward rotation is reached when levers are in the up (locked) climbing mode position.

The Marker Alpinist style KPin toe may not have this issue (worth checking before commiting). This has caused the sudden release of the toepiece on both of these bindings when one ski has slipped back when skinning and boot rotation reaches end point (knee going down to ski forebody.

). This is potentially hazardous and certainly inconvenient. Through boot modification of careful light dremel work to take a mm or so off the squared top edge where it contacts the locking lever, and a small patch of dense rubber glued just below the top edge so the boot contacts the binding just behind the lever has helped.

I did this in two stages, the first modification was not enough – a little more dremel and more rubber. I have posted this design issue on K2’s site and hopefully they can retool the mold next season, and make these boots compatible with all AT toe pieces.

The ATK Raider / Mindbender 130 combo would have a hard to beat power to weight ratio in the backcountry.

I’ve enjoyed these boots. They are lightweight and impressive for something so light weight. I have needed to get some work done to get them comfortable, and still don’t have them quiet dialed in. The biggest concern I ran into was on my first real tour of the season this past weekend, I lost not 1, but 2 buckles.

Same buckle on each boot. I noticed the first one gone when I arrived at the end of our uphill, while strapping down for the first stage. The 2nd was gone when I was unstrapping back at the car. I’m not sure if it was a fluke or I just needed to make sure to crank down the screws before the tour, but it concerns me they may have been at a bad flex point to work their way out on both sides on the same day.

I like to switch up my riding between sharp carves, fast speed, and full sends to easy cruising and these boots work well for both! The heated liner is a great feature especially for anemic people like me whose feet are always cold.

Only thing is to be sure you charge them overnight before you hit the slopes and the liner sometimes comes unplugged while riding but it is easy to plug in again for the most part without taking your whole boot off.

Heated boots are a game changer! They were perfect for the 20-21 COVID season and the reduced availability of lodge space to warm up. I’d set them on medium on the colder days and my feet were toasty all day long.

They sort of cycle on and off during the day but you don’t really notice. Needed a slight adjustment by the EVO guys mid-season to give me a little more room in the toe box and that was a great experience as well.

Really disappointed in the other reviews for this boot – of course they’re not great for narrow feet – they are a MV boot meaning MID-VOLUME! So for me with my super high arches, they were the best fit I’ve ever had.

I did put an old pair of orthodics in them and they work great in these boots. I’m getting a bit older so don’t ski as aggressively as I did in my younger, racing days, but the control with this boot is great and the change was immediate.

Did not do the grip walk soles but that is an option for the future if needed. I think my hands were warmer all season too since my feet were never cold! Charging is easy with the USB connect but they do need to be plugged in for several hours for a full charge – usually I just do overnight.

If you’re thinking about heated boots and have never had them or skied in them, now is the time! I am so glad i grabbed these boots!!.

Purchased these boots for my daughter for fairly aggressive all-mountain skiing. She’s given good reports so far. Comfortable, warm and stiff enough to maintain control on east coast ice runs. Not a lot of bells and whistles here (no walk mode, for instance) and not a hot coco boot.

Just a solid, non-nonsense boot with a good amount of flex for all-mountain, all-condition skiing.

These fit like they were custom made for my feet! No heat molding necessary. I owned the first edition of these boots and had to make quite a few modifications to the shells before they were moderately comfortable.

Very painful to put on and take off! The thin, unsupportive liner later blew out on me so I returned them to Atomic. EVO made the return process very easy and Atomic was very helpful as well. The improvements they made to the 2021 editions are MASSIVE and I haven’t been able to come up with a single complaint.

Surprisingly didn’t have to make any modifications to the shell. Can tour in them very efficiently all day without any hot spots and still charge technical terrain with fatty skis without any lack of confidence, something I haven’t experienced with 5 other models of touring boots.

Painless to step into and out of and I no longer use my stiff race liners while at the resort. The addition of a cam power strap, removable spoiler, and the stiffer liner with four sturdy straps really sets them apart from the first editions and the subtle improvements they made to the two upper buckles make touring and walking around with them much nicer.

I couldn’t be happier with these boots and will undoubtedly buy another pair when these wear out far in the future judging by the minimal wear they have after over 40 days on snow. If they fit your feet you’re going to love them!.

Did a bit of moulding and punching to get them to work and at first I wasn’t sure if I’d made the right choice over the shift boot BUT after trying them out on groomers, off-piste, touring, in pow and on jumps I’d say they are the best all rounder.

Weight is very good. Adjustability with only 2 buckles is good, I’d like more stiffness on the groomers but for everything else I find them good. Maybe is you were, like, Elyse Saugstad (if only) and you were doing something nuts you’d disagree, but for the average human, I think they’re dead on.

Touring I run them with a boot doc insole and a heel riser under the liner and then I put gaffa (duct?) tape around my heel to prevent blisters when going up with the top buckle undone. I have a weird sticky out toe on one foot so mouldable boots are so great for me for going uphill.

On groomer days none of this matters, I ran them straight out of the box with no issues till I started going up on them. For reference I have a narrowish foot, medium arch, narrow heels and that one wierd toe.

They are light. This makes it good on the ups and great when you’re trying to 360 in your backyard at night after curfew.

I bought an older version of these in 2019, and after a little punch-out on the toe box they fit like a glove. My feet are between 23. 5 and 24. 5, and sizing down was definitely the move. The thin liners packed out after the first season, so I replaced them with Intuition Tour liners.

The new liners improved the comfort and fit substantially. The range of motion is incredible, and the soles are great for boot packing, crampons, and rock scrambling. At the end of the day I’m not rushing to get my boots off – its like ski touring in slippers.

While these boots excel on the uphill, I do feel there is a bit of room for improvement on the downhill. Even with heat molding and custom liners, my heel still moves vertically a bit more than I’d like.

A stiffer flex would also be nice. The drawbacks are pretty minor and I think the comfort makes up for them! I’d give these 4/5 stars with the new liners, but subtracting a star for how quickly the old ones packed out.

If it fits your foot well (don’t try and force a boot because you like it on paper) this is an outstanding ski touring option, which is a joy to climb in and plenty burley for a sporty descent. When comparing it to the MTN S/Lab it is superior in a couple of ways.

First, it is lighter, every gram you save gives you more energy to go longer and harder. Second, and more importantly, it has significantly greater range of motion (63° vs 47°) which is a huge help in both having long efficient strides when the skin track is flat and maintaining heel pressure when the skin track gets steep.

For the vast majority of people, these benefits far outweigh the loss in stiffness, particularly since in the backcountry there isn’t the crud and moguls of the resort and without ski patrol to bail you out it pays to be a little less hard charging.

Only problem I have had with this boot is the straps are of a too flimsy construction, and they tore after a season. Luckily it is an easy replacement.

I’ve been using this both as my touring boot and my resort boot and I love it. The stiffness is awesome and the fit is great for my foot, which is somewhat square at the forefoot with a slightly tall instep and a very narrow ankle/heel.

They upgraded the liner from the 2019 model and the new liner is really warm, comfy, and it does a great job of locking in the foot for a snug feel. It walks really well for a 4 buckle boot, and though I am admittedly a smaller human, the flex profile felt plenty stiff to charge as hard as I possibly can on the downhill.

For best uphill performance leave the cuff buckles on the first or second buckle, though sometimes I just pop the buckles in to walk mode from wherever I cranked them down to and it doesn’t inhibit the ROM much.

One thing to be careful of is–if you take the liners out of the shell–when putting them back in make sure the shell is locked down in ski mode, otherwise you can poke a hole in the back of the liner with the part of the lower shell that protrudes when in walk mode.

I’m about 2 weeks in on this boot and could not be happier. I’ve got about 43,000 ft of skinned vert on them and here in Stowe, Vermont we currently have one of the deepest snow packs in the U. S. so I’ve had great snow in the past 2 weeks, make that incredible snow.

So keep that in mind with my review. First skin with this boot I did not like the boot at all on the uphill. My foot felt jacked too forward and heel felt high and my malleolus got hammered. I had the boots memory fit heat molded and has the bootboard ground just a hair on the heel and these things fit like a glove and are super comfortable.

Uphill performance – I am coming from a Dynafit TLT5 carbon performance. I would put the TLT5 at a 9 out of 10 for uphill performance – (only skimo race boots being better). Using the TLT as reference point -I put the Hawx xtd 130 at a solid 7.

5 for uphill performance- they skin really well and are only 400 grams heavier than my TLTs. My 25/25. 5s came in around 1400 grams and my TLts are 1000 grams. I keep the upper two buckles completely undone (as well as power strap) for uninhibited range of motion.

If Atomic could increase the forward range of motion a little more in this boot it would be an absolute masterpiece. So let’s say it’s an almost masterpiece. I am being pretty critical here because just using the highest riser on my Dynafit speed radical heel alleviates this issue.

Downhill Performance- When you switch this boot into downhill mode you instantly feel like a badass. I feel like I can just point it and ski anything on these. They are absolutely confidence inspiring.

Oh yeah – they ski powder really well. REALLY WELL. I put the TLT5 at a 7. 5 for downhill performance and so far I put these at a 9 out 10 for downhill performance. I’ve skied a fair amount of wind affected mank, chunder, crust and sierra cement type snow – this boot can handle it all.

The precision is just insane- on the groomer I hit a few times I could really lay into the turn and have a ton of edge grip and super solid input from boot to the ski. The cuff comes up higher than the TLT and just gives you a ton of control and it’s nice and stiff (130 flex index) but it’s a progressive flex unlike the TLT5 which has very little progressiveness to the flex (it’s there but it’s a small amount).

On the Atomic I feel like there’s a great deal of progressive flex. I did a lot of research to settle on this boot and the Scarpa Maestrale RS was the only other one I was really considering (weight, how well it skins, how well it goes down).

For a 1400 gram boot with a good uphill mode and range of motion that can ski down like a pure alpine boot I give this boot a 9 out of 10 overall score. Improve the uphill range of motion a bit more and you have a 10 out of 10.

I’ve been really happy with these boots, and big thanks to skimo. co helping find the right boot for my foot! I retired a pair of Salomon MTNs for this boot, and have been loving it. Definitely a softer boot than the MTN, but has much better progressive flex and comfortably drives a navis freebird or my wailer 112s.

I’m not the most aggressive skier of my ski partners, and at 6′, 160lbs, I haven’t found a limit on these boots yet. I’m usually a solid 25. 5, with high instep, narrow heel, and wide forefoot, making some boot fits tough, but after about 8-10 days (~60k of vert) in them so far, skiing everything from deep, cold, spring pow to isothermic cascade mank with a heavy pack, I have had zero hot spots or blisters.

I often need to have boots punched to make room for my first metatarsal head, but no medial pressure points with this boot. I was worried that I’d start to loose a big toe-nail for first 2-3 tours, however the liners have already begun to pack in nicely without any heat molding, and I’m feeling like I have just the right amount of space in the toe box without feeling like I’ll loose precision with time.

I have a little bit of heel lift that I’ll eventually fix, but it hasn’t been enough of an issue for me to deal with it yet. I often have trouble with buckles over my high forefoot (the Zero G’s I tried on were terrible, and I’ve never been able to tolerate scarpas or dynafits), but this hasn’t been an issue yet.

While there’s not a micro adjustment feature on these boots, I found that moving the buckle to the second set of factory holds dialed forefoot tension in nicely. Walk mode has been awesome- they don’t move as freely as my Salomon xalps (my go-to big spring mission boot), but nor should they- and they definitely have a much better ROM than the zero G’s I really wanted to like.

I haven’t played around with the foreword lean adjustment yet, not sure that I will, but it looks easy enough to adjust. Also, small things count, all the buckle bolts have the same t15, which means I have to carry fewer bits and screws in the repair kit when I’ve been out on multi-day missions.

Overall very happy with these as a medium/heavy duty boot- looking forward to seeing how they hold up long term. I have no concerns about there ability to drive a bigger ski, touring in the cascades.

I figured I would post a quick review of these boots after 3 tours in them since they are new and have a lot of hype. My previous touring boots were lange free tours and salomon mtn labs. I wear a street size 11.

5 or 12 and went with 29. 5 and superfeet insoles. I like the fit, its comfortable while still feeling precise and snug while skiing. I will likely need to punch my 6th toe area before big missions. They feel light on the up and the ROM has blown me away very easy to take long comfortable strides.

I am using them in the more upright, less aggressive stance and I really like how they ski. On a powder day I used them to drive my 1800 gram 108 underfoot skis and felt confident and comfortable. (granted that was in low density ankle deep powder) I have also used them with my lighter 88 underfoot skis and they drove them flawlessly.

Some cons I have noticed: the walk mode has iced up on me many times requiring me to break ice to engage or disengage it. The internal gaiter and tongue bunch upwards around the top of the foot and needs to be “set” for downhill skiing (they even have these instructions written on that part of the boot) Overall I really like this boot and will be using it for all my touring this winter.

Great mix of uphill and downhill performance for someone who values downhill experience and longer days out. I hope we see more lean beef like this from all the boot makers out there.

Got the boot when they finally arrived in November. I’m mixed on this boot as there are big upsides and maybe bigger downsides. Upsides: * It walks great. I was coming from years of TLTs and while it doesn’t walk quite as nice, the walk movement was very easy and better than boots I had prior to the TLTs.

* As I had hoped for with a beefier boot, it skied really great. The progressive style flex was really nice. * The walk/lock mechanism is beefy and reliable. Downsides: * The gaiter piece tends to get in the way of everything.

It bunches and can be felt if it does. * The buckles have no micro adjustment and I could never get a perfect fit. * The upper buckle bail didn’t line up well and would rub against the hinge, something I thought would be worrisome later.

* They are not, absolutely not, 130 flex. They ski great and I knew they were probably not super crazy stiff, which I don’t want or need, but they are probably closer to 110 than 130. * If you’ve wondered why I write about these in the past tense, it’s because they cracked, on both boots, after ~40 some days of use (see pic).

I’ve heard from SkimoCo and others separately that this has been showing in others too, already, for a boot that is essentially just off the truck. Thankfully SkimoCo is spectacular at warranty. I will not be keeping these when they are replaced.
