20 Best Skateboard For Beginners Kid (2023 Updated)

Five stars since it’s the only product of its kind. If you’re looking for a starter or “learning” skateboard, this is your product. It’s well done, well branded (though I remain curious where the name came from!) with inspiring content, and serves the functionality that it was designed for.

It’s clear much whiteboarding and prototyping went into the design. Love the colors choices too. A few minor things I’d change — I usually toss the book that comes with these items, but in this rare case, I would have benefited from some deeper instruction with cute diagrams and advice for how to get littles started on it.

Questions I had but are not limited to include — should I push or pull with adult handle, how should feet be positioned relative to child’s hand on handle, some advice for managing balance, and some teaching verbiage for the youngest children.

I could even see Ookkie produce and sell a children’s picture book about a cute character learning how to board. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the joint where the adult handle connects to the Ookkie needs some design work for future version for safety purposes.

When the adult handle is removed especially, and the board is used with the rider handle only, that black and metal joint sticks out a bit and is genuinely sharp to the point that if a child fell and someone landed on it, they could be seriously injured.

We may pop a sock or something over it if we use it in this mode in the future, but that obviously disrupts the attractive design of the product. I’d love to see Ookkie look closely at this. A simple and cheap workaround in the near term could be to sell a rubber or nylon+Velcro cover for that part (children’s bikes have this around the neck).

Hats off for a wonderful, unique product though!.

I bought the Ookie for my 2 year old grandson afer watching internet videos of little kids shredding. We have a skatepark nearby and he would always ohh and ahh at the kids skating. I looked up toddler training skateboards and found Ookie.

I wanted it for Christmas 2021, but they were on back order. I put my name on a list to be notified when they were in stock, and it finally came through in January, so great service there! I ordered it right away with a full set of small pads and a helmet; the order came fast and correct.

The products are super high quality and worth every penny. We suited up and went to the skatepark the first day and he loved it! It is amazing how children so small adapt so easily to balancing on the Ookie.

At first he was a little intimidated, so I let him approach riding it at his own pace. We started with just riding around on flat ground, watching kids on the ramps. Eventually we would drop in on small inclines.

After 5 months of riding we are dropping in on some seriously large ramps. We are still using the parent and child handles, but on flat ground I let go without him knowing and he totally balances himself.

It won’t be long before he drops the kid handle, in fact he sometimes lets go without realizing it. Whoever invented this is a genius! Buy one! Buy pads with it, if your kid gets hurt when they fall the gig is up.

Don’t force it, let them approach it at their own pace and they will be begging you to go skating. In fact we are going now. Thanks Ookie!.

When Larry Stevenson invented the “kicktail”, most everyone would have assumed that the skateboarding community had just re-imagined itself, as such that the sport is still benefitting from said invention.

Today, I put together a bright volty green skateboard that included an inventive board with four wheels, a directional nose shape, and a brilliantly designed “kicktail”. A long grip equipped t-shaped handle bar that came up to my waist (5’ 10”) needed the grips to be equipped on each side of the bar, so I used a little bike lube to help slide them on.

Once the grips were equipped, I mounted the smaller handle to the shaft of the t-bar. My child is only 9 months old, so I had to hug the base a bit. Everything fit snug and secure. Once I gave the board a few scientifically motivated side-to-side wiggles, this justifying the obvious strength of this amazing contraption, did I then meet my wife and daughter on the front lawn.

And then the magic happened. Minda road the bright green board on the light green grass glammering and yammering on with glee. And once I was able to get my wife, Minda, off the board, I could get my baby Lucy up there.

Not shockingly, but ever just as awesome, my daughter is much like her mother. Flying around singing the Batman theme song as loud as we could. A perfect day. With skateboarding becoming an Olympic sport, and with TikTok inspiring the youth to do all the things for an epic video, I just want to thank you for giving my daughter a head start.

With your help, she just might compete for a gold one day. Well done.

Pros 1. The racing car logo on the top is really attractive. Head turner when you take it to the park 2. The built is pretty strong and it seems like it could withstand some rough use. 3. This is a manual skateboard.

Don’t expect it to take you with the push of a button 🙂 4. I don’t do stunts on the skateboard. So I don’t know how it will fare with that. YMMV. Cons 1. None really. I like it. Overall rating 5/5.

I got this Credhedz – Ice Cream Skateboard for my daughter I’m so happy I did. She absolutely loves it, the colors are so bright and beautiful and very creative. Can be rode on or for me I’d use it for wall art it’s gorgeous.

My wife and I purchased this board for our 8-year-old son, but we’ve ended up using it as much as him! It rides super smooth, the trucks are nice and responsive (extremely so), but because it’s more of a locker board, you’ve got to change your stance for better control.

Anyone older than 5 will have their feet off both edges when their feet are perpendicular to the board. Since the trucks are so responsive, and the board is short, this really makes carving respond to micro movements.

We’ve found that if you have your front foot almost straight on the board and on the truck mount/ front of the board, that helps with pushing and stability. Then you can get your kick foot up whereever you want and use that for steering and leaning into toe or heel edge.

Really fun to ride, but feels very different than your classic longboard cruiser!.

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter because the size seemed like a good fit for her, but i’m 6’5 225 pounds and can ride it just fine. Granted it’s tiny for me; but it’s so fun to rip around on I may just need to get another one for myself! The wheels weren’t rolling fast, so i just loosened the nuts a half turn with the skate tool which sped things up.

Great little board reminiscent of the Hobie cruisers from the 70’s; tiny, portable, and fun! The world needs more quality small skateboards like this. Attractive deck and graphics to boot, with multiple shapes on offer.

Love it all around and recommend it if you are on the fence.

I got this for free when ordering a longboard during a sale. I’ve always wanted to learn how to longboard and decided to go with the cruise glider. I started on the longboard because it was more difficult as a beginner to start on the micro cruiser.

After getting comfortable on the longboard, this became much easier. It rolls faster than I was expecting and it’s easy to push. Also turns nicely. As a beginner, with a little time and practice, it’s a comfortable board.

It’s very compact too and could definitely fit in a backpack.

I brought this skateboard last year, and I must say my KIDS LOVE IT. I have two boys a 14 yr old and a 8 yr old. It took them time to get use to because you don’t have to keep kicking off, and you lean your body the way you want to go.

My HUSBAND has even fell in love with the skateboard tell them he will show them how to skateboard. I also love that if you get off the skateboard instantly stop. My nephews that are 16 and 19 also love the skateboard.

Charging the skateboard is not long. If you have someone that loves to skateboard GET IT it’s for ALLLLLL ages even adults.

The grip tape on my son’s board ripped on the first ride. Immediately, the board would not hold speed. I contacted Swagtron and sent pictures of the damage. I was told it was not covered under warranty but I can pay to send the board back and they would charge $59 to “look at the board”.

That does not include the price for fixing it. Now, I have a heartbroken 9 year old and I am left to buy another electric skate board. It is obvious I am not the only one with an issue considering how strict the warranty is.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME.

when I first tried to ride this skateboard, I was disappointed that, although it says it will hold a steady pace, it stops and won’t push me, even though the lights are on, and I just gave it a starting push, like it says to do.

After experimenting, I found that it would only work and keep me going if my feet were in very exact places that took about 10 minutes to find. it also will not go up any big hills and go very slow on even the slightest of them.

it has no power. Overall, I would not recommend this product at all. get something with a remote, as I have found they are much more reliable than this.

Super cool Sonic the Hedgehog skateboard here. It is a decent size, an adult could utilize it; as well as kiddos. The wheels are yellow and very slick and super quick. The colors and decor of Sonic are just absolutely amazing and cute.

There was one con about this product I was a little frustrated with. That part was when I was opening the plastic that was wrapped around it; it got stuck all around the top of the area that has the wheels so I had to utilize a box cutter to kind of cut that extra plastic off so that the skateboard was clear of the plastic.

Otherwise this skateboard does what it is supposed to and super cool to ride on!.

This is a nice skateboard and my daughter is very satisfied with it. This is her first time riding and I am impressed with how well she is riding it. The board is big and sturdy, and that makes it easy for her to ride.

The quality of the board is great and very long-lasting. The design at the bottom is very pretty and can be for either a boy or a girl. Overall we are very happy with this board, and my 9-year-old is already talking about practicing doing tricks on it, Therefore, I highly recommend this board.

My brother was a pretty big deal back in the day for skateboarding. He recently allowed my 6y/o son to watch some old clips of him, which really peaked my son’s interest in skateboarding. I wanted him to have a board that was his size, but also appealing to him.

He LOVES sonic, so it’s a plus. So far, he’s picking up on it really quickly. I’m one proud mama and hope he sticks with it.

I bought this for my 7-year old niece who has never ridden a skateboard before but wanted one. She has been playing with it all day! It rolls great, she light up wheels, and it’s perfect for beginners.

I don’t know if I could recommend this board to anyone for any fact other than being cheap. The concave is too deep for my liking but thats just my opinion, I know someone probably likes that. the quality of the wood is average.

The trucks are metal but they don’t seem very sturdy. I had to WD-40 the bearings because they were way too tight. But all in all, I guess you get what you pay for.

I was very disappointed. The wheels weren’t even screwed on straight and aligned. My husband had to adjust them before my son could use his new board. After my husband fixed it, my son has been very pleased with it.

Surprisingly good skateboard for the price. My daughter just started learning and it was nice to see that the quality is not far from much pricer boards. Solid wood, stable. Another reviewer suggested getting new bearings and we did.

Great set up. Bought for my 6 year old Great nephew. He loves it. Never seen a soft top board before. What a good idea. Had to make a couple of adjustments to trucks and wheels before I gave it to him but other than that a great little first set up for the money.

Skateboard was as described, is good quality and looks great. I can’t say more as it is a Christmas pressie for my niece, so will get back to you when she’s tried it out.

I got this Skateboard for my son as a treat for doing great at school. It was right choice for him because he always wanted a good skateboard and I got him a couple before but they were not as good! This one is really great, it’s heavy on the road which gives him more stability and make it easier for him to control it.

He’s loving it now and he takes it every where he goes.

My kids absolutely love their new skateboards! The wheels are wide which makes it easier to ride on not so smooth pavement. This is a very strong and sturdy skateboard.

It’s a penny board, nothing more nothing less. It’s great for the price. Bearings are what make the wheels spin and they are definitely better than what I expected from something sold at Walmart. I got this for my 3 year old so he can practice balancing and moving on something his size and he loves it.

This board isn’t for adults or skaters. It’s definitely a beginner board to be used by children. Will probably last forever if used as that.

It’s a decent complete. The tensor alloy trucks are good-not great. I found the trucks to be too easy to turn but that probably better for a beginner that will rely on leaning to turn instead of pivoting.

The wheels are hard so they can handle some power slides without getting flat spots but still have good grip. The width of the trucks match the width of the deck so you can primo. The panda on the trucks is a nice touch.

it’s made of hard resin, makes its very stable. Wheels are between hard and soft. I am a beginner. If you don’t loosen or tighten the trucks it comes between it. I heard enjoi decks pressure crack easily but that hasn’t happened.

Nice set up. has great concave. This board is a great starter board. It comes with Tensor Trucks that also have the enjoy Panda stamped on them which I thought was cool. Enjoy wheels and some decent bearings.

Makita only make great tools a need genuine batteries for them to work as they are supposed to. I made the mistake of buying cheap copies and learnt my lesson. Bought these for makita cordless mower and run time is almost the same as a tank of fuel in my old mower.

They have good charge time and clear charge indicator and wil lfit a huge range of quality tools. If your a Pro user buy genuine batteries you wont regret it.

These genuine Makita batteries last well, and have a charge indicator fitted so you can always check how much charge is remaining, they also came supplied with the terminal protective caps which protects them whilst not connected to a power tool.

As a rookie skateboarder and starting trickster I was looking for an affordable board that would fit my needs to start learning how to skateboard. With my shoe size (EU 43) I chose the skateboard size: 8.

25 because it felt really comfortable under my feet. I tried a size smaller (8. 0 and 7. 75) but these felt to unstable. Going bigger (8. 375 or 8. 5) would make it harder for me to learn flip tricks because of the width of the board.

Also the board gets heavier which makes it harder to get high in the air for olie’s or other more advanced tricks. But I’m still learning though. I’ve tried the skateboard at an indoor skatepark in Amsterdam where it performed really good.

Trying to olie, I found that the tail gave me enough pop to get the height I wanted. The wheels also felt nice on the concrete, not to hard to feel every little imperfection on the flat spots, but still hard enough to try some power slides.

Al in a great skateboard to start with and gain experience. Even when you break the deck after a while you will be left with good trucks to go under your new deck!.

Rode this board for a few weeks now and it seems quite solid. Using it mostly for tricks, the wheels might be a bit hard for long street cruises. Nice quality, perhaps more of a beginner board than anything, but very worth it for the price and I really like the sleek Globe deck design.

The trucks came set too loose and some of the wheels were tightened a bit much and had trouble spinning, so a tool would’ve been nice to include but it was all easy to adjust with a wrench.

Typically beginners should look for a 7. 75 to 8. 0 inch deck, so this a rather good pick. The trucks aren’t on too tight which allows a much smoother turning transition. After a week of heavy use the board still feels pretty fresh despite being used.

Depending on how much progress is made will ultimately decide the wear on the board, however it is sturdy and built well. The wheels allow for a smooth ride and Globe has proven to be a very trustworthy brand.

Probs not the best skateboard for tricks, looks like it’s not the strongest thing in the world with plastic trucks, but as a beginner skateboard it is fantastic and i’m having a great time on it.

My son loved the design on the board and was very excited when we brought this home. We took him to the park and the thing was hard to roll. A skateboard should roll fairly easy, this one did not. Thank goodness we have an older daughter who right away was like he needs better bearings and wheels.

We get home she goes to change out the bearings and they are completely plastic!. They usually have metal balls in them and this was a completely plastic one piece mold of a baring. After she switched them out you can see a 100% difference he can actually push and it continues to roll and doesn’t just stop.

This is not a regular sized skateboard. It’s more of a penny board. Great for very little kids bit I wanted a standard board. She still loves it. Just not what I expected.

This was bought as a Santa gift for our 7 yr old. He has recently started talking about skateboarding and asked Santa for a skateboard of his own. This is perfect for his age and arrived on time. The graphics are great and the board was delivered in great condition.
