20 Best Six Player Board Games (2023 Updated)

Have read where others have bought off brand extension packs and were not satisfied with the quality. Well, this one is an exact match. I was worried about the quality of this one also, but since its the Made in the USA version it matches perfectly, almost as if it came with the original game pack.

The extension came with a green and brown set along with all the supporting cards, placements. The lettering on all cards and placements matched the original exactly where you cant see any difference in size, shape, or letters.

Highly recommend.

This package is a lot smaller than the original box that Catan comes in. That is how you will know it is the expansion, and not the original game. It allows for 2 more players, which is great. Make sure you read the add-on instructions for placement of the dice numbers; you won’t use the numbers from the original game.

But, that did not stop our gang from putting 2 numbers on each square. Great family fun. As my college son said, “democracy and capitalism are alive and well. ” Of course that is after he won!.

My daughter did receive the Catalan extension pack, but I don’t think they have had a chance to use it yet. I’m sure they were happy with it, because she had requested itf. They love playing Settlers of Catan but often have more than 4 people who want to play.

Bought this for our kids, as we have two versions of the original game (one with the ocean border pieces and one with individual ocean tiles). Unfortunately the border pieces used for several of the expansions are not compatible with either of our original versions (10th Anniversary Edition that is in German and the older version with individual ocean tiles rather than border pieces).

This means we cannot use this expansion and may have to buy a third version of the original game to use it. (Mighty Ape were fantastic – their service was stellar as always, this is solely a product review).

Excellent addition to original Catan board game. The five new scenarios each add something different and can be used in combination or stand alone. One side point, if your original Catan is first edition, you will be missing half of the border, as the new game only comes with three border pieces and the first edition had a totally different border set up.

We have the standard Catan and a couple other versions. So far this has been our favorite that adds spice and many easy to learn variations to the game. In retrospect if I were to only get one expansion for Catan, this would be it.

If you don’t have King of Tokyo yet, this is the version you should start with. This game is probably the standard bearer for American-style games, in contrast to Euro-style titles, and King of Tokyo should be a staple of any gamer’s shelf.

Imagine the schoolyard playground game “King of the Mountain” turned into a board game and this is what you get: be the strongest monster in the center of the circle of Tokyo, and keep anyone from pushing you out! The game is quick to teach, quick to play, and very tactilely satisfying to roll those chunky dice! The negative is that this isn’t a truly “deluxe” package.

They didn’t incorporate the “Dark Edition” ‘wickedness’ mechanic with ability tiles that balance out the strategy of rolling for points. They didn’t double-side the game board with the “King of New York” map.

They didn’t include some of the characters that have been released over the course of the game’s series – in fact, you get two sets of power-up cards included for characters that aren’t even in this box! (Presumably you have them from other editions or convention promos.

) Like I said, if you’re starting out, this is the best edition of the game available in 2023. If you’re a long-time fan who already has an earlier set, there are several staples missing from this where it’s probably not worth the extra investment for yourself – but it’s a great gift to introduce the title to your friends!.

What’s not to like about the idea of giant monsters during it out in Tokyo? The game has simple mechanics and a fast game cycle – 20 to 30 minutes for a game. This makes it a great game for introducing people to board gaming, and also for a quick ‘party’ game with a small group of friends.

Despite the simple mechanics of the game, there is a reasonable level of strategy in picking a path for how to to win. A good casual game! Component quality is good and the game pieces are both visually appealing and sturdy.

This is not a “big” box – don’t know what Iello was thinking – it’s like 3 inches wider than the og box. I have every expansion, single monster pack and promo out there, I was hoping it could fit it all – the ONLY way is to chuck the insert.

PLUS it’s an odd rectangular size – why not make a deeper square box, or Ticket to Ride size? Seriously disappointed in this.

The board is absolutely beautiful. All the optional rules and history is great. But the pieces (armies) are a completely let down. I would have been much happier with the old Triangle and asterisk pieces that the ones they chose for this, otherwise amazing 60th edition.

In addition. cheap paper crates to hold your armies. The older plastic crates would have been a better choice. In the end. It is worth the price of admission for a beautiful game board and historical game rules set?.

My son absolutely loved this edition! We have a Risk version that uses small wooden block for the armies. This one has real army pieces making the game more realistic! We loved the game box too! Very pleased and very fast delievery.

Purchased the 60th Anniversary set for my son (and husband) with very little time left before Christmas and it arrived on time, very fast shipping especially with all the postal delays! We’ve really enjoyed playing this as a family of 3, excited to have more players join in when it’s safe to do so.

I bought this game because although we enjoyed the old Genius Edition, as Gen Xers, we didn’t know a lot of the answers because they are typically ‘’70s and earlier. The questions are much more modern, however there aren’t enough question card if you like to play often.

There aren’t enough to fill the boxes that they go in except when you put them away (you have to turn them to make them fit and put the tops on the boxes properly). I feel like for the price I paid, there should be a lot more cards.

I wouldn’t have purchased it if I knew how few cards there were. The board is nice, the pies are a little different and kind of neat, so if you are only going to play once in a while, it might be worth it.

We have many boxes of trivial pursuit and we needed more questions. So this was ideal.

Just what we needed at this stay at home phase. A fun game I remembered as a child. My mom wanted to play it with the grandkids and couldn’t find hers. She was very pleased when it showed up at her door!.

Arrived quickly. However, I thought the Retro version would have real marbles……not plastic!!

This is really a must buy if you have the Base Version of Catan. The expansion keeps the same flow of the game, but extending it to 5-6 players. I also managed to get everything to fit in the base game box, which is a bonus.

I work as a speech therapist in a long term care nursing home for senior citizens, most of whom have dementia, forgotten math skills, poor attention span. Many have poor vision or lost their eyeglasses when they came from the hospital, poor fine motor co-ordination, an arm with deficits, minimum speech skills,.

This is one game that most can see and play, with very simple rules, and requires very little skill. It’s a hit, even with the least motivated patients. And, would be a great game for little children learning to count.

The box suggests age 8 and up. Would probably function with younger children who can count up to 12 (as 6 +6, 7+5,. ) I did a little Google research and if correct, game invented in France, approx. 400 years ago with only one line of numbers.

If you are going to purchase a Shut The Box game, recommend double lines of numbers like this one has because it is so easily mastered. The loose parts are 2 dice, easily replaced if lost, everything else is attached to the box.

Should have bought one sooner!.

Love this game, it’s challenging & fun. I didn’t think I could clear all the tiles, but I did. Very enjoyable, brain game.

This is a fantastic game. I bought 2 for my grandchildren for Christmas. They are 6 and 7 and haven’t stopped playing. It is so good for their mental maths and strategy skills. That is why I’ll be ordering 2 more for my class as I am a yr 1 teacher.

I purchased this game for my niece for Christmas. Although she has not seen it yet, I know she will be thrilled as she has quite an imagination and will be “enchanted” with it!! I will provide an update after she receives this gift.

My 7 year old son loves this game. My 5 year old daughter seems to get frustrated and turns to cheating- every time. I had to leave suddenly after Christmas to take care of my folks so the kids learned to play while I was gone.

When I got back they were able to teach me how to play it without any problem (except for the cheating). I am finding that I seem to appreciate the cooperative games (the Orchard) better as it doesn’t give rise to ANY of the issues we find with this one.

That said it’s a fine game. My kids haven’t yet been exposed to many fairy tales so that just goes over their head and I’m sure would make it all the more meaningful if they did have those associations.

Glad it’s in our game list for when we want to brave the field of competition and strategy.

Always looking for a unique game that appeals to the imagination. This did not disappoint! Also love that the playing pieces and dice are wood. Wonderful quality.

We bought this to augment our already owned 1981 Classic Version (to have more current references – i. e. the version we have still refers to East and West Germany, and Pluto as a planet. , lol). So, we use both games questions (we intersperse them based on the roll of the die – i.

e. an odd number roll, gets the “old” questions, and an even number roll gets the “new”). It’s great fun!.

I have owned and played Trivial Pursuit for decades. My family has been very competitive at it, but I am happy to say that I win out most of the time. This newest edition has updated questions, though, so maybe the tide will turn slightly to the younger generation (ie my adult children).

We will see! If you have not implemented a game night, I highly recommend it. I find these evenings much more special than watching TV or a video, as there is actual interaction happening. These special times are what make memories in years to come.

Trivial Pursuit adds learning to the fun; which makes it a win/win in my opinion.

This game is a great update to the other classic versions. We play with our college age sons and the competition is right there. The only negative is that they no longer include the boxes for the question cards which means that the card pile sits with the questions face up during play.

So, because of the competitive nature of the game (and players), we have to cover the card pile with something during play. The boxes were a great solution for this issue and they should put them back in the box!.

This expansion is great. Not only does it provide 2 additional starter decks exactly like the base game decks, it also provides 6 new starter decks that pair with the included characters and their mechanics.

This set also includes a variety of new cards for the common deck that are primarily designed for 5-6 player games. Whether you want to play a 5-6 player game or to provide some variety to each player starting deck and strategy, this is the expansion for you.

Favorite expansion for Clank, as it offers 6 characters with differing abilities and objectives. objectives. Makes the game play endlessly “new” but also more difficult. Played with character cards, my kids who can usually hold their own in a standard Clank! Game were a bit flummoxed and it became a long, tedious round.

The good news is that they also include two standard start decks and the ability to simply inject two players into a regular Clank! Game so all 5 of us can play together. 🙂 very happy with this expansion.

The Monkeybot seems way overpowered and the Sorceress way underpowered. Otherwise all is balanced and fun to add some asymmetrical abilities and strategy. The react cards in each deck are situational that some almost prefer playing with generic meeple instead.

Overall we enjoy the additional cards this adds to the base game and some variety.

We have played this so many times since getting it. It’s the perfect game-time length for our 8yo. You are required to buy any property you land on so everything keeps moving. The transactions are all easy to figure out (property cost is the same as basic rent is the same as cost to purchase a tie-fighter, etc).

The “money” is either a 10 or a 50 so organization is easy. The ring of force lightning is a nice feature that he really enjoys. The characters are surprisingly up-to-date too so if you want the Mandalorian spin-offs you’ll see familiar faces.

I grew up playing with the original Monopoly and was obsessed. I’m very fascinated by how this classic game had broadened to so many themes to meet different interest over the years. My kids love Star Wars and they were so thrilled when they got this version! They are young and still learning to play, but that fact that it’s Star Wars themed, they are very determined to learn.

It comes with a board, tokens, cards, evil characters. all well made. It really brought back so many fond memories for me and I’m so happy how it brings the family together for hours of fun.

Coming from King of Tokyo, I already knew what I was going to get, but as much as I’m pleased by this set for KoNY, I’m disappointed how they implemented it for KoT. There are monsters from KoT and monsters from KoNY.

In all cases, they are just cardboard stands and small score keeping cards that count health 0-12 and victory points 0-20. The only reason you couldn’t use your KoT monsters in a KoNY game is the lack of suitable evolution decks.

This contains evolution decks for the KoNY monsters for the KoNY game, and the KoNY monsters for the KoT game (backwards compatible with new monsters, old game), but does not have decks for KoT monsters for KoNY game (forwards compatible with old monsters, new game).

Since New York is basically just the Tokyo game plus more, there’s no reason to go back and play Tokyo now that we have New York. So we have all those old monsters, the variety, the fan favorites, the memories of near victories and painful losses with these kaiju, and no way to include them in the newer game.

It’s a shame they went backwards compatible, but the wrong way. I would 100% have prefered old monsters, new game than the reverse. 4/5 because it does what it does well. -1 star because it doesn’t do what it should have done.

+ Mega Shark is another interesting character to add to the choices of King of Tokyo or King of New York. + Feels balanced. Mega Shark and the other character evolution cards do not feel overpowered or underpowered in relation to the other monsters.

+ Interesting evolution cards. The cards all feel like they had good theming and synergy with the monster they are for. + As always the titles of the evolution cards are punny (see what I did there with “pun” and “funny” together.

uh. yeah). + Evolution cards for both King of Tokyo and King of New York Or you could just play the monsters as is, for those that don’t like the evolution cards. A great expansion, especially if you have both King of Tokyo and King of New York and want to play the monsters from King of New York with either game.

I’m still bummed they haven’t created evolution cards to play the King of Tokyo monsters on the King of New York board and mechanic. Loss of star as this is a gap in the series that hasn’t been addressed for years.

I bought this game with fear it will be a lame spinoff from KoT. Thankfully I was wrong. While the core mechanics remain the same as KoT, KoNY has so many improvements and additions that it was addictive to stop playing.

I bought this to a GAMES night along with several other games such as Pandemic & Catan, however we only ever played Kings of New York. For 5 hours! There are three new dice faces, one of which involves a new game mechanic of destroying buildings for energy, lives and Victory Points, though the flipped tiles can fight back and cause you to lose lives! It is an intriguing game with a board twice the size of the King of Tokyo board, and there are also some fantastic new cards to enhance gameplay with scary consequences, like the “Natural Selection (an extra dice – but if you roll a Star you die!)” and the “Superstar” ‘goal card’ which rewards you with Victory points the more stars you roll (Natural Selection and Superstar do not make a good combo!).

Manhattan is split in to three tiers, which you advance through the longer you stay in New York, rewarding you more energy and Victory Points, however you are the target of the other four districts; Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island.

King of New York is the new and improved Tokyo, that is a little more in depth which makes it a little harder to teach, however the whole group picked it up by the end of the first game and was asking “just one more game” for the entire day.

A fantastic board game that everyone will enjoy!.

My family and I have played the original Catan for years, so we were familiar with the Catan world and excited to try Explorers and Pirates. It adds multiple new dimensions to the game and is a lot of fun.

I have not tried other expansions yet, but would definitely recommend this one. Before purchasing, I did watch the embedded video review and found it very helpful and enlightening.

If you play Catan, you will enjoy this game! This is the third expansion I’ve played and is my favorite expansion so far. I don’t know if we were over thinking on our turns or what but the game took much longer then expected.

so when you start it, plan for it to take a few hours, seriously. The game suggests playing out each scenario, as you do this it layers on different components to the game, I highly suggest playing the first scenario as the game suggests, however, we were able to combine a couple of the others together to get to the final scenario much faster, saving us a good bit of time.

I wish this was available on the digital Catan Universe platform!.

Our family LOVES Catan. We have every version now. This version offers multiple ways to play. It is much longer than some of the other versions. I recommend you learn each play option in order. It will help you understand it better.

It progressively gets more complicated.

This is a great collector’s item for any fan of Dragon Ball Z! The tokens are well sculpted and have a good weight to them. All the pictures and characters are nicely portrayed around the board, accessories, as well as the box itself.

It includes the classic game mode, but also a different set of rules that incorporates the DBZ theme, to give this particular round of Monopoly an awesome twist! Overall, this is worth the purchase for anyone looking to expand their game board collection!.

The AC/DC board game is unique. I purchased this to add to my husband’s AC/DC collection. The plastic came ripped along one entire side. The corner was dented bad and two different spots on the box was damaged besides the corner.

For the amount of money I paid for it and knowing most people would collect it and not play with it. I was highly disappointed in the condition it came in.

How is it that the past 3 times I tried to go around the board I got sent to jail 3 times in a row, meanwhile the other players all have had chance to buy property and some have monopolies. This game is rigged and I’m extremely frustrated with how they designed this ridiculous game.

Horrible user experience and unfair circumstances.

We had such a blast playing less is more. As a family we really enjoy playing board games and this was no exception. In each round your have a guesser and the rest of the players are clue givers. Your write the clues down on a whiteboard type tablet with a dry erase marker.

I loved this option because my 9 year old was able to correct her spelling and even adjust her clue. The words were simple enough for the whole family to guess and we were able to help our 6 year old join in on the fun with some help.

We all had a great time working to guess the word with the clues. We played several rounds and would have kept going if we could! Lots of fun. Definitely a great option for older kids and It sparked some great imagination in creating clues.

Again, my 6 year old was able to join in with some adjusting and help from mom but it worked!.

This game was so fun! The instructions were straight forward and it was easy to figure out how to get started. It was fun fun right from the first round! I like this game because you have to find creative ways to figure out what the word is without shouting it it’s like charades but with words.

Some clues can sound really funny, others can be really tricky. This game teaches kids how to sound out words and write them out so they can get a clue to the group. The dry erase part of the game makes it super easy to get to the next round or clue with a simple wipe, the scannable timer via the qr code is a great feature easily accessible every game and one less piece to lose.

We love family game night. It helps us connect with our children and have some really good laughs and some fun.

My family had a great time playing this game! It was pretty easy to pick up and learn and resulted in a lot of laughter. We played for almost two hours straight (although each game only lasts about 10-15 min).

No artistry required! It was nice that the game came with enough markers for everyone and the boards were sturdy enough to be passed around and wiped after each game.

I love this game. I bought it for my husband, who doesn’t like competition. I remember playing it at a silent retreat and loved it and knew he would too. My family and friends all love playing this game.

It gets lots of laughs. Just make sure you remind/play with people who don’t take forever to draw a picture. Lol. It’s great for kids and adults to play together. Just remind those perfectionist to quickly draw and pass on.

THIS GAME WAS SO MUCH FUN! we had a wide age range among our players, and EVERYONE enjoyed themselved. We really appreciated how having one person hold the pen while another moved the board to make the picture really leveled the playing field between daughters with artistic skills and moms with NONE! The instructions were simple and easy to understand.

The dry erase marker cleaned off the boards well, leaving very little, if any residue. Better quality than a lot of the expensive dry erase calendar’s I’ve purchased in the past. We have a white elephant gift exchange each year with my husbands family. As we always play board games with them, we got this as one of our gifts. It was SO much fun. The three different categories (Who, What and Where) give an opportunity for different people to have a chance to get them right.

THey also range from super easy to impossible so you never really know what you’re going to get.

Someone in my family brought out this game on Christmas Day for us to play and we all had a great time. It was so much fun that I purchased my own game and we have already played it a few times. It’s unfortunate that the younger generation (16-28) can’t correctly answer some of the most basic questions.

Every single time we’ve played, there were multiple people that didn’t even move off of the start line. They said the questions weren’t anything that was taught in school. I would not say the questions were too hard, it was just an unknown subject.

Out of all the games I’ve played, there were less than 5 questions total that absolutely no one could answer. It’s a fun game, I definitely recommend it!.

My family loves trivia games- really any type of competition- and this game is one of the funnest we have ever played. To try to keep this review brief, I’ll limit it to the reasons I think this game is especially exciting: – All players are involved in the game at the same time- No waiting for the other team (or individuals if playing that way) to finish their turn.

A player (you can switch reader each card) reads the card and all other players yell out answers. This really amps up the competition since it’s direct competition instead of taking turns. – Can be played as individuals or teams- I believe the instructions are for individuals but it’s pretty clear how to alter it for teams- just rotate reader between the teams, different player on the team each time.

We play boys vs girls. – Board maneuvers are easy- Anyone roles the color to pick the subject. The reader reads, everyone else yells answers. First correct answer gets to roll the dice and move (for self if individuals, or for the team if teams).

There are a couple of special board spots but the instructions for those are easy. The funniest is the “kickass” board spot where the team then has to move backwards as I’ve seen people keep hitting the same spot and getting stuck.

– Question variety- Some of the questions are hard, but others are pretty easy. The easy ones are actually funner since it then becomes a speed game. This also allows for a variety of ages. Hope everyone else gets as much fun out of it as we do!.

We did not receive a Hasbro Sorry game. We got a cheap looking version of the game called Im sorry not made by Hasbro. I think this is false advertising. The product is poorly made & the board was bent so the counters wouldnt stand up properly.

This item was much cheaper than others when shopping around – but that seems to be because you are not buying what you expect. This is very disappointing. As a stand alone game (forgetting we were expecting the Hasbro version) it probably plays ok – but we havent tried it yet due to the frustration of the bent board.

Great fun for the family. Everything conveniently fits in the Box. Compared to other games, this seems more sturdier. The pawns are built tough. My kids could destroy other games easier. But these pieces seem indestructible.

I would definitely buy again.

We bought this to replace our old Sorry game that was falling apart. I wish we had read the reviews first instead of assuming it was still the classic Sorry–it is definitely not. Differences:- Game board design (doesn’t look as good, but it doesn’t interfere with play)- 3 pawns instead of 4- Sorry cards can be used to move you forward 4 spaces- Can leave Start on ANY forward-moving card- The 2 card doesn’t have you draw againHonestly, if I had known those things, I would NOT have bought this game.

One reviewer called it the Millennial version, and I’m going to agree. The original game was an excellent tool for teaching kids to suck it up if things didn’t go the way they wanted. Everyone else’s pawns are out and yours are still in Start because you haven’t drawn a 1 or 2? Too bad! Your opponent drew a Sorry card and sent you home? Deal with it! This new version is for wimps and crybabies.

And why only 3 pawns? Cutting costs, most likely. Hasbro, you’ve mucked up a great game. I’ll be looking for the real version and donating this one (though I might put a warning on the box).
