20 Best Single Reed Duck Call (2023 Updated)

One of my favorite calls. Sounds great, easy to use, very sharp and responsive. Never freezes on me like my RNTs do. All around great call. Had it for 5 or 6 years now. Only thing I don’t like is it’s bright orange color.

I got this call before the start of the duck opener and boy am I glad I did! Amazing call with amazing sound and looks absolutely beautiful. Has great low to medium volume to work ducks in the timber or to finish them off.

A perfect call to add to your lanyard. Just a overall great call and great customer service from Echo.

This call is one of the prettiest calls I’ve ever owned. Not only does it look good, it sounds great. Bocote is not always my first choice but I don’t regret buying it at all. This thing is deep and raspy.

One of (if not) the best timber call I’ve ever used. A few minor reed adjustments (optional) and this thing instantly goes from good to great. It was a bit too deep of a tone for my taste. It’s smaller than other calls but not too small.

Fits perfectly in your hands. Super mellow. This thing brings in the birds.

This thing broke within 2 weeks of just practicing in my car. Reed sounds wack now. Starts squeaking. Bummer.

Awesome, affordable speck call. I was pumped to see this call at this price because I hunt specks about 3 times a season and it didn’t make sense to buy an expensive one but man was I please to hear it keep up with the best.

It’s a great teal call and is louder so I think it is more effective than most.

I bought the Echo single reed timber call to add another voice to my calling routine. I already own the Echo double reed timber call, the lead call on my lanyard. The single reed call is higher pitched than the double reed, sounding like a second hen.

Both calls have a terrific sounding high end for hails and come-backs. The single reed low-end is not as deep or raspy as the double reed but adds a credible second voice for finishing decoying ducks.

This is the duckeist sounding duck call peroid! Its not desinged to get loud so if that is what you are looking for than get the XLT but this call is for timber and small water and it requires very little air to make pure duck sounds.

Can produce all those sudtle quacks and whines and also a great cajun squel. I have never had any issues with this call sticking or feezing on me.

Just recieved my RNT Original yesterday. Decided on the RNT Original after many hours of on-line research. I was not able to go try blowing and comparing duck calls as the nearest place to do that is about 90 miles away.

This is the first high end duck call I have purchased in my many years of hunting. Turned out to be a great decission. This call is easy to blow, can get very loud hail calls and very low soft whiny quacks & feed calls.

Bought this call for duck hunting because it is similar to the louder competition call the MVP. I won several contests using the RNT MVP. The Original is a great all around call. I can hit high and low notes.

Sound quality is almost unmatched. I recommend RNT calls to everyone. Took this call to Washington for a waterfowl hunting trip and called in groups of mallards of up to 150 at a time. Had an unbelievable succesful trip.

The call is worth every penny.

This call sounds best at full volume and man does it sound good. Perfect for the competition caller. Unfortunately it doesn’t achieve the same tones at lower volumes so I find it a little too loud for most hunting situations.

Keep in mind this is just my personal opinion and I like the loud tones so much it will most likely never leave my lanyard.

Purchased this duck call last year and could not be more impressed. If you want a duck call that will do everything and do it well, look no further than the meat hanger. Have hunted everything from timber to open water and this call brings the ducks in.

Also, the service at Echo Calls is amazing! Called them recently, and they were very happy to help out. If I could give this call and the company 10 stars, I would.

Good call. ok bottom end but when i look to buy calls from ECHO im expecting whining, Cajun squealing, pure duck. Defininelty go straight cocobolo or acrylic. spend the extra $. you will be happy you did later and will def.

find calling easier and more fun (you get what you pay for). and don’t be intimidated by the single reed if you are a beginner. if you learn to blow a single reed. doubles are a piece of cake. and on a single you can practically mimic every sound a duck makes(with a good call).

which in most double reeds you cannot. Hope this helps before buying. and if you are going to buy this call. its not a bad purchase. But def. go straight cocobolo!.

ive had this call for a few years now and i hunt ussally timber but occasionaly open water. this call is good for both. for those guys who would prefer single wreeds or your learning to blow and want to blow a single wreed this is the call for you.

One of my all time favorite calls (I have the green version). Very inexpensive, great sound, and great quality. This is the call I learned a blow on and it hasn’t left my lanyard cents I’d recommend it to anybody.

This call was recommended to me and so I decided to give it a try. It has a higher pitched raspy sound. When I first started blowing it it sounded too high pitched and then I slowed the air down and discovered that it had a real nice ducky sound to it especially when in the marsh.

I found that it will stick a little after the call sits awhile after being used. I think this is normal for most calls. I am an intermediate level caller and I am able to get most of the hen mallard sounds but it does a good Cajun Squeal which I can’t get to this extent from my other double reed calls.

This is my first call made by Echo and I am satisfied with it.

I got this call because of the good reviews. I couldn’t make good sounds with it and I now see that on my last hunt the guts fell out. I understand Zink won’t ship to canada so I have an expensive acrylic tube.

Looking into different brands. This is my 3rd zink goose call and I haven’t been happy. If Zink cares to read this I’d love to chat.

All of Fred’s calls are spot on. NBG is my first single reed call I’ve ever used, I always used a double reed in the 40 years of Waterfowl gunning. I love it, no sticking, no freeze up on bitter days.

A must have in your arnsenal.

Ive always used cheaper calls with the thought that it’s not the call it’s the caller that makes the difference. Boy my old school thoughts went out the door the minute I tried this call. Even for a beginner this call is almost foolproof.

The sound and ease of use blew (lol) me away. Cheap calls. I’ve always found myself blowing my lungs out and never achieving the satisfaction of a good sound. This call let’s you blow easy and work the birds.

Would highly recommend for any new hunter because of the ease of which this call works. Not to forget about how affordable it is.

I’ve owned and given to family members several of these other the years. We’re a duck hunting family and have calls from the $hundreds to cheap ones. This call just plain and simple “works” , if you can’t work this call you can’t work a single reed or more expensive call.

And you need to practice your technic. I never had a problem with this call freezing up, nothing like my Yentzens do.

Works great for turning mallards and spoonies on open water. Works great in the timber as well. Haven’t had the chance to work it in the flooded rice yet but I’m sure it will do well. Helps make a cloudy day better.

Good for beginners and vet’s. Will start my 7 year old on this call. Excellent price.

I have had three of these calls and two of them are still in operation, with the newest one being 7 or 8 years old. This call has a very good tone and although not my only calls, I use one of these on almost every hunt.

I get a lot of spit in a call, so just sling it out after working birds and you’re ready to go for the next bunch. It will lock up in cold weather after not blowing for a little bit, but just blow on it a few seconds and back in business.

Another thing I like is that there is a huge range to tune this call so you can get it to suit your style. When you crack one, just wrap it in electrical tape and keep calling.

I picked this call up at last week and blew it on the side walk outside of the store then immediately walked back in the entrance to return it. After learning you cannot return a duck call at cabelas I headed home to pack for my hunt in the morning.

After playing around with it that night and then teating it in the morning I absolutely love this call. It has an excellent tone and had flocks of mallards cupping in our face. This would not be my go to call for a timber hunt, however if you want a medium-loud call this is just for you.

It is definitely not the call for someone who is looking for there first duck call but if you’re an experienced caller looking for a bit more volume this will be perfect.

This is an amazing call, it is incredibly loud. If you are used to double reeds do not think you can simply take it out of the box and be great at it. This will take some time and skill and you probably won’t think it sounds good.

You may have to tune it a little bit, but this is a big sound that you need some lung power for. Don’t give up on it this is an incredible call when you learn how to use it.

If our looking for a call that is very controllable the mondo s is a very good choice great when trying to break high flying ducks but can get very quiet on the low end! Highly recommend

I bought it a few months ago for this upcoming season it sounds awesome to be honest and it looks amazing! The only thing I would say I did not like was the ring. it was just slightly loose other than that I cant wait to call some ducks in with this awesome call.

My grandsons are so excited to be able to call ducks. The call is making it as easy as it can. Lots of practice but they are coming along!

Very happy with the call, unfortunately the Reid and horn fell out the first day and was lost in the water so I only have the barrel now

Easy to use. Not as raspy as I’d like, but I won’t really know how well it works till I try calling ducks with it.

Have use Primos calls for years and found them excellent. The Wench “family” are easy to use and sound great—especially if you follow the video instructions. Not all calls use the same wind pattern, so you need to use the call as designed by the manufacturer.

The “tuning hole” is a great feature because with practice it is very possible to make two distinct tones that sound like different ducks. Also, these clean easily and can be tuned without sending to the factory.

All of this is explained on the video. Am re-purchasing mine, since my son “borrowed” mine.

I’m new to duck hunting and this was one of the first calls I purchased. It was very easy to learn to use and sounds great on the quack, greeting call, comeback call, and feed call. Great for any level of caller.

The tuning hole is an awesome feature. You can’t beat it for the money. It sounds better than a call I Paige $50 bucks for!.

i order this online and it came in two days. i practiced some then brought it out to the field. with very little practice i almost perfected it and was calling in ducks. its hard to make a false sound on a double reed.

The only reason i didnt give it 5 etas is when the call is full of moisture from my mouth, the lower reed sticks to the bottom of the call so im forced to blow hard to unstick it. but that might just be a fault in my call and not all of them.

Got Started in bird hunting this year and bought this call on recommendation from Cabelas staff. Reeds stick together real bad, to the point were you can’t even get a sound out of it. Feeder call are non existent due to this.

My son has more fun with this call than I do. Still looking for a new call. Try it before you buy it is what I will be doing for now on!.

I used this item last season out in some flooded timber and it became my overall favorite call. I was able to turn groups of mallards, gray ducks, and some woodies. For its price its one of the best purchases I’ve made for duck hunting.

The call is Donkey water you can’t even make a good sounding call. It can only do a feeding chuckle a that it doesn’t even sound good. Get a better call. I won’t buy it.

This is an awesome call. Have three seasons on a poly Single Shot and still going strong. Very easy to operate and the judges (ducks) love its sound. I must say though, I hunt ALOT and have been blowing a duck call for 35 years.

This is a single reed. If you don’t know your way around a duck call, you will have to learn to control your air pressure to get duck out of any single reed. That’s why they are great to learn on. they force you to learn proper mechanics to get a duck out of them.

If you don’t want to learn and just want duck to come out when you blow. you need to purchase a DOUBLE Shot~~.

This is my go-to call for hunting eastern Canadas. Very easy to blow and has an awesome range of sounds. I have expensive Sean Mann’s and others on my landyard that I now ignore because the Field Proven Poly Raptor can out-do them in my hands and it’s a tiny fraction of the price of those others.

My buddies will steal this one off my lanyard first when they’ve forgotten theirs. It is high-pitched so if you want something lower for greaters or whatever, try FP’s aftershock or other models. I’m not prostaff.

I just want to get the word out about an awesome call for less $. A heck of a deal!.

This call can produce great sounds from hails to feeding. However, I gave it 3 stars because the reed sticks when it was only in the lower 40s outside. I had to switch to my double reed which didn’t stick at all.

Kind of frustrating cause I had high hopes for this call. Ill keep hunting with it on my lanyard as I have other calls I can use if this continues to happen. I will decide if it’s worth keeping or not.

It was only $30 so I’m not out a lot. I was hoping it would perform better.

This call is great. this call sounds more like a duck then both of my single reeds but is much easier to blow. The only thing I didn’t like about this call is that it can’t make soft feeding chuckles.

It’ll make loud ones just fine but hunting in the south late season you need a softer chuckle for those weary ducks. All in all I love my call; it looks and feels great, it is very easy to use and it brings the ducks in.

I bought this call right before season and so far so good. It’s a amazing call that’s affordable. It’s also a very forgiving call so great for beginners.

Well built call. I’m always looking for a “loud” call, but for me this isn’t the one. If you’re looking for a nice call and you want it for close to medium range ducks you’ll probably like this call.

To really “get on” them if they’re at a distance this isn’t the call you want. Maybe your calling ability is better than mine and you’ll like it, but it’s going back in the cabinet and will be used only as a back up call.
