20 Best Single Outlet Surge Protector (2023 Updated)

I now have these on every major appliance I own. A VERY WISE minor purchase to preserve all your investments. I have learned the hard way that you cannot insure your freezer, refrigerator, costly electronics, etc.

, without one of these. I had a packed-full freezer and the electric tripped and therefore I lost over >+$500. 00 worth of meats, homemade meals, baked goods, etc. I had to throw away everything because I didn’t find out in time.

“This item” costing less than $10. 00, would have saved me all the clean-up, cost of replacement foods and heartache. Never again. I will ALWAYS have this type of product on every major appliance I wish to preserve and keep for as many years as possible.

It sounds an alarm alerting you and saving the product itself. Truly a minimal investment to save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in heartache.

I got this to use with my new refrigerator. The new refrigerator was a recent major purchase for me and I wanted protection for it. It fits nicely in the outlet and the space behind my refrigerator. I was worried about power surges from storms.

It also has an audible alarm when it needs replacing. Great product offering great peace of mind.

This is the smallest surge protector that I’ve ever seen. It only has one outlet and will work great with appliances or other electronics that are alone. And it’s less messy than using a standard power strip.

What I did noticed was most power surges have an indicator light which this is lacking. It only has a audible alarm if it fails.

The refrigerator kept tripping the Siemens AFCI circuit breaker. There was 3 trips within 5 days. Siemens technical support suggested buying this. I put it in 7 days ago and no trips so far [knock on wood].

Reviews online suggest this Minuteman and the similar Belkin one are being recommended and used to prevent nuisance trips.

At 540 Joule rating, it is slightly less protection than the 600 Joule rating for Tripp Lite’s Spikecube, which cost less money. But I want it for the sculpt, size and black color. It still offers better protection than my ancient white Radio Shack 100 Joule model.

Hard to beat a swift 1 nanosecond response time. I use it as a portable surge protector for a personal theraputic laser. I plug it in at home and both the “ground” and “protected” lights come on. At my friend’s home only the “protected” light lit.

I test it on another outlet and discover the first outlet has no ground wire. Something my old Radio Shack unit never tells me with one indicator light. The size is misrepresented in the ad. Dimensions are 2.

13 x 2 x 2. 38. Just a little thicker than the photo suggests. Things plug-in very snugly but should loosen a little over time. Using the top or bottom outlet still allows a standard 3-prong PC cord to plug into the other outlet.

The mold is aesthetically pleasing and really makes it a professional looking and enjoyable protector to tote around with my theraputic laser. A handsomely perfect match.

Most wall plugs have 2 outlets, but this horrible surge suppressor places the entire load on one outlet, since its 2nd plug is an inactive plastic plug. Hence, the unit’s entire load of 6 is placed on one outlet.

I bought 3 of these.

The 6-outlet wall extender with USB slots and surge protection works better than expected! I’m able to plug in a nearby lamp and still have open slots for other items. The USB slots seem to charge my portable devices as well or even quicker than their own power cords with less bulk using the small profile cables.

Two cables came with the device, an added bonus. The green light indicator on the top confirms the device is protecting from surges, and it’s very subtle and unobtrusive at night. The plugs went into the slots pretty hard the first time.

They will never fall out! This outlet extender with USB and surge protection beat my expectations and I gave one as a gift too!.

I have had my product for about a week and it has met my expectations. It even includes two cords for MicroUSB. I would have like to include maybe a cord for iPhone, but we all know those are ridiculously expensive, so I was understanding.

We got a whole home surge protector installed, and bought 3 of these as a back-up/stage 2 for anything that got past the home/stage 1 protector. Loved the design that includes spaces for 6 of the larger electrical “blocks.

” It hooked up fine but I do have one small issue with these outlets. It may not affect you. I mount mine high on the rear of my desk, cabinet, etc to get them off the floor, and also to allow me to turn them on/off easier instead of having to get on the floor or move furniture around in order to get to the switch.

There are 4 slots on the rear of these units to allow you to mount them, using small screws that then slide on the slots. Common idea. Many items allow this. BUT. this design needs some work. First off, INCLUDE THE SCREWS! I made one trip to the hardware store to buy screws, and found that all of them did not have a head thing enough to allow them to slide on to the unit.

b/c the case design does not allow for a normally-sized screw head to be used. I called Tripp-Lite and spoke at length, asking “what are the specs for the screws? You guys have allowed for a screw head of about 1/16” tall.

So far, I have been unable to find one that fits. ” They had no specs or sizes of screws that would work. No knowledge at all. No idea really, about what I was talking about. Multiple people had to get involved in the call, and still, no answers.

I asked “If the specs are so tight that only certain screws will work, why not just include 4 of them in the package?” No real answer. The guy at my hardware store went above and beyond and finally tracked down some “pins” that worked, but they are more like nails, not screws.

And screws would be better to hold the unit on. As I said, might not be an issue for you. But it was for me. More maddening for me was the feeling that 1) they had never had anyone ask for the screws before and 2) I got the feeling that this was the first time they had actually been made to pick up and look at their own product.

I bought this to use with a TCL flat screen TV as the master, to control both a receiver, powered subwoofer, signal strength amplifier for OTA antenna and a Rolls sound leveler. I set the control outlet wattage to over 25w (my TV is 130 watts), and plugged the other items into the strip.

With the TV still off, and the switch for the strip set to “Auto,” the green outlets were already powered on when they should have been off. I cycled the TV on and off and nothing happened. Then when I went into the other room after about ten minutes to start a return because it didn’t work, the other outlets finally decided it was time to turn off.

So it works, it just takes forever the first time. There is NO mention of how long the startup delay is in anything I read. AFTER that, everything worked instantly. I deducted one star for Tripp-Lite not explaining the first time delay in the instructions.

Home Essentials Direct almost got it back as defective when it isn’t.

I bought this surge protector for my desktop computer and all it’s peripherals. I like that only 2 outlets are always on. I use tho a e for my modem and router. I have my PC plugged into the master outlet so thart when I power it up, my printer, speakers, monitor and external hard drive also all come on.

It’s a convenient setup. As far as the protection goes, we haven’t had any power fluctuations since I installed it. I can only hope it lives up to Tripp-Lite ‘s reputation.

Purchased this as an alternative to our basic surge protector that sat on the floor that received all the cables to my 2 desktop computers. I work from home and do a lot of work in creative softwares – My dog likes to hang around under my table and I always worries that one day he would hit the switch on the surge protector and I would lose all the work I had done.

This product gives serious ease of mind. I no longer have to worry about that and my dog can comfortably sit under my desk. I love the swivel feature it’s very convenient and allows this to fit in tighter or unique spaces.

We don’t have any need for more now but when we move into a larger house I plan to purchase more of this or similar products. I definitely see the value in the design compared to standard surge protectors.

I have had several of the one-outlet CyberPower surge cubes, and they have worked well, so I bought this model for my TV, where I needed two outlets – one for TV and one for sound bar. It was very affordable and works perfectly.

I like that it has a green LED, showing that everything is OK. I don’t get much heavy lightning where I live, but now don’t have to worry about a “hit” taking out my TV equipment. That’s all there is to say – this is a simple solution, works well, and I have never had a failure behind a CyberPower unit.

Don’t know about “charging power” – there is no battery in this model. It would be easy to take this on the road, but I have never done so.

I’ve got this installed in an outlet on the ceiling that powers my projector. I like the size, and the piece of mind is good. I only realized after installing the outlet that I wouldn’t be able to have the projector on my batter backup anymore, so this was the next best option.

It doesn’t seem to handle surges very effectivley though. When someone turns off the light in the next room (on the same breaker), the projector shuts off for a half second. One of the rooms that does this isn’t a big deal as it’s a guest bedroom and isn’t used much, but the other is a bathroom, and that gets used fairly regularly and can be quite annoying.

I bought 6 of these and put them on TV’s, routers and other electronic equipment. Small, compact. We had a storm with tornadoes Thursday night and everything still works. Don’t know if the power was affected or not.

As far as I can tell they work. Would recommend. PROS: Small, compact. CONS: None.

These surge protectors are ideal for all new appliances that have computer boards in them. I have tried others but none of them compare to these. These let you know if your outlet is grounded and also show that what you have plugged into them and protected.

I recently replaced my garage door openers with WiFi units and found out that due to more complicated circuits in the openers they suggest using surge protectors. The ones labeled Liftmasters were ridiculously expensive and the woods units were rated the same and much more cost effective.

LiftMaster garage door openers seem to be very vulnerable to lightening damage. Mine was ruined by a lightening strike that did not harm anything else in the house. This $10 item will help avoid repeated replacement of the $70 opener PCB.

This device (F9H100-CW) is one of the only surge protector that had a UL product listing sticker. For some reason this device on some sites has a 1080J rating which the packaging clearly says it does not (885J).

I would say for people who have severe lightning or brownout issues that this device may protect your device, but may get burnt up due to the event. I also advize those people to get an electrician put in a whole-house’ surge protector (total cost is ~$300).

Then these Belkin devices will further add protection to the individual appliances/units without worries.

I haven’t had a surge at my house to say this thing keeps my equipment safe, but everything else is perfect! The size is great! I use it for my ceiling mounted projector, so I didn’t want a power strip.

For my audio power amplifier, I needed a surge protector without line conditioning and this one did fit the bill and came with a good brand name. You get energy dissipation up to 1080 joules (360 joules for each line to ground).

This is definitely a high quality product which I have purchased in the past. The surge protectors is essential in protecting your delicate equipment. I have heard in the past that these have protected people from massive surges after a power cut in London, that cost people many thousands of pounds in lost of their expensive equipment through not having quality surge protectors connected to their computers, and smart TVs, which have inbuilt delicate components.

I highly recommend this product to everyone who owns expensive equipment. There is also a chance that if there was a massive power surge, without using this product could possibly cause a fire from your equipment, which has happened in the past in some parts of London.

Belkin is always solid. Its one of those products you get what you pay for, no frills and not cheap. The combination of charger and surge protectiom is a great idea. I want to use it when I stay away so my appliances are safe.

Has yet to be tested in a hotel.

Really good product and really affordable! Belkin has a two year warranty on this product and if a device gets damaged through the surge protection they will with repair it or replace it. Thats having responsibility for your product.

I looked for one of these at Walmart, couldn’t find it. I ordered this for a new chamberlain lift master garage door opener. I fits fine. It appears to be working in the overhead outlet I plugged it into, with green light indicator.

This unit has the highest joule rating available in this type of unit and it’s from a brand name manufacturer. It ‘s a double win and these folks have the best price.

These surge protectors have MOV protection on three modes: line to neutral, neutral to ground, ground to line. Construction is clean.

I’m not an expert, but from research I’ve gathered, Joule ratings are useless for comparisons, and should be treated as a fake spec. What you want to know is the “clamping voltage”, which is the maximum amount of voltage that will be allowed to pass.

This is also useful knowledge to have with respect to all surge protectors like strip outlets. This unit, clamping at 330v, has far better specs than similar units like Leviton 5280 which don’t clamp until 600v.

I loved the idea that this suppressor is entirely in the wall. I had read that a normal to large wall box was required, but with careful wire nut placement I was able to fit everything inside, even with two Romex leads.

I have a few of these to protect wallmount TVs. Quality on the backside is a bit lacking and bulky and the item could use a revision especially at this price point. I would like to see it more in line with quality and form factor of a slim type gfci outlet.

With that said, with the bulky back and the wire nuts needed it was extremely difficult to get this to fit in my electrical box. You’ll need a more internally squared-off type box or a deeper than standard box for it to fit nicely.

Bought these specifically to protect the washer and dryer, however, did not fit the plugs.

Surge protection is rated at 540 joules and the let-through rating is < 330, so it's a quality little protector that I trust with my smart phone, tablet and laptop while traveling. Obviously, it can only be used by one device at a time but it's small, compact and meant to be used that way.

The protector works every time. I have a terrible time with lighting running in my office and ruining expensive electronics. The only negative is when lighting hits it fries the APC unit. But is a lot less expensive than the electronics are.

My dsl from ATT will go through this surge with no problem. Att u-verse will not though. The item seems well built, the joule rating is higher than most I have found. I have not had any strikes since buying this, so I can’t tell you if it will stop an actual lightening strike.

Needed a surge protector that allowed for larger plugs, so this seemed to fit that need. The cord length gives good options for where to mount it and where it plugs in. The one part that got on my nerves was the on/off switch.

At first it was fine after using for a short time, but all of a sudden, everything plugged into shut down. I found the the on position was super sensitive to turn off if the hardware was moved or even just bumped a little.

I didn’t have time to exchange it, so ended up putting clear packing tape over the power button to keep it from turning off. Other than that, the overall construction feels solid, the gauge of the wire is good for the current going through it, and the plug to the wall is angled at an offset so you can plug it into the top outlet and still have use of the bottom one if needed.

I’ve got 5 of these units. No issues, no problems and provides more joule protection than similar surge protectors. Just the right number of outlets, well spaced. I use one unit to protect one Dell laptop workstation and a 40″ Dell monitor; one Dell laptop workstation, one visiontek 4510, and two 32″ Dell UHD monitors; one 16″ macbook pro and two LG 27″ 5K monitors; one Dell laptop workstation, one visiontek 4510, and 2 – 32″ Samsung AM702 monitors.

Supply chain shortages have affected these types of devices too. Highly recommended.
