20 Best Silicone For Shower Glass (2023 Updated)

This product works excellent on convertible tops! I always desire convertibles, but after owning one for a couple of months, I sell them, get annoyed, buy another and repeat this process too many times according to my wife.

I always seem to find great deals on convertibles, until I keep discovering that they all have the same issue. leaking from rear window. This stuff works perfectly!!! A few tips I’ve learned over the years, tape off the window and top to prevent (as much as possible that is) messy overlapping on top and windows.

Also, I use a blow up mattress to press on the inside window to create a tight seal. Nevertheless, great stuff, never had leaks, but then again, I don’t keep them for more than a half year, so who knows long term.

Permatex has and will always be my “go to” for sealing up an engine. Whether I’m working on a motorcycle or automobile they always have what I need and a great product. Just did a timing belt on the old 1999 Honda Civic with 235k miles and oil pan gasket while I was down there, permatex is what I used where needed on the engine and it got us safely to and back from Justin TX and we live in Ada,OK.

Thats a five hour round trip with a fuel/leg stretch stop. Thanks permatex for the peace of mind and autozone for the parts and products keeping this old car kicking. By the way we got 35/36 miles per gallon average, I topped the car off and reset the trip meter and divided it by the gallons it took to refill the car.

More accurate in my opinion than the modern day on board computers that try to calculate to many variables.

There are times when “black” colored silicone adhesive or sealant is nice to have. There are not many brands of black colored silicone in a tube out there, and Permatex is probably the best of those.

With regard to the adhesion and “texture” of the product once set, I can only compare it to the GE Silicone which works so well. I think the GE Silicone II is top notch: Dries firm yet pliable and has excellent adhesion.

This Permatex product, not as much. I have found that while it is a good sealer where a black silicone is needed, it is not a “great” sealer as it can be a little runny, a thinner viscosity than the clear GE Silicone, and takes seemingly long to dry.

I also had a project “pull apart” using the Permatex only to re-do it with GE Silicone II to achieve satisfactory results. The “rare” black color earns it credit. But the dry time, inconsistent setting up and lack of finished pliability knocks it down.

Overall, 4 stars although I wish it were worthy of a 5th star.

This product goes on like a caulk and is not runny or liquid. I used it to seal a gap between the shelf above the tile on the wall above my outdoor grill. Product went on smooth and stayed in place. I have not had an opportunity to use the grill yet but so far it’s good.

Is rated for outdoor use which was a must. What I can say right now is so far so good. Take recommendation at your own risk though until there is more data.

Used it to seal a plaque on an outdoor sign works like a champ. Not for permanent underwater use but easily handles rain and exterior weather climate with no problems. Love it would buy it again.

This is one of the best tubed I’ve used. Keeps the water out. Keeps the moisture out. Doesn’t expand too much. Goes with the hot weather and the cold weather. Very easy to work with. Smells at first.

But when you get done your job looks awesome. Doesn’t peel the way like the other ones do. I ended up buying 8 more. To put my camper van top on. And it’s still going strong. I recommend this to anyone.

Easy cleanup.

The product may be fine, but the tube and nozzle are terrible. The nozzle doesn’t stay attached to the tube, so you need to hold it on with one hand while squeezing the tube with the other. It makes application awkward and messy.

If you don’t hold it on, the sealant gets everywhere. I thought I got a bad tube, so bought another one for $13 and it did the same thing. I expect better from 3M.

I make large outdoor driftwood sculptures with glass accents. I tried EVERYTHING. The various calls and adhesives got sticky, whitened, yellowed or plain failed. I expressed my disgust to my local Ace guy and he recommended Lexel.

Stays clear. Once dried it stays dried and does not lose its grip. With different wood species in outdoor conditions, I needed a flexible product to take constant swelling and shrinking of the wood in winter vs summer.

Not one customer in 4 years has called me back for glass or wood sculpture failure. Not one. This stuff is amazeballs. I keep multiple tubes on hand in case the world figures out this is the best adhesive ever and there is a world wide run on it.

😆 Clean up? Goo gone. No stinky mineral spirits required. And too gone dries without a trace on my canvas based rock collages. Please try Lexel. Your problems are almost over !.

It works very well; however, this tube busted in the back seem the second time I used it and got lexel all over the place. I could not use it. So I had to waste almost an entire bottle of the stuff. Not happy about this at all because I really needed it when I needed it.

Now I have unsealed light on outside of motorhome that could get screwed up from the rain until I can get a new bottle.

This is a better value than I can find locally for this product, which can be hard to find anyway in local stores. Lexel is a great product; it seems to stick to anything, won’t shrink or crack, and is paintable after a few days.

It will glue plastic bits together, which many glue products will not do, and it’s a great sealer caulk as well. Cons: It takes a couple of days to cure completely, and it is very ‘fumey’ and so should not be used in an enclosed space with poor ventilation.

However, I still love to use it for my purple martin equipment; I just do my ‘Lexeling’ outside.

It’s a substitution I have no use for this

We had a small hole in our shower wall that we were advised we could fix ourselves. We got some Mold Armor because it was marketed as mold free and good for tubs/showers. The product is easy to squeeze from the tube and applies evenly.

We used a putty knife to smooth out the surface and it dries quickly. It does have a strong vinegar like odor, but it dissipated quickly after application. We then used it to patch a bad seal of my in-laws master shower door.

Worked like a charm. No more puddles after showering. Highly recommend!.

I used one tube but it was not normal quality or stickiness when applying. The manufacturer told me it was probably expired and not normal quality. I must warn to check carefully before using caulks that may be old stock and defective as mine.

Normally THIS CLEAR CAULK should have a slimy stickiness on your fingers that is hard to wash off. This defective batch was not like that. I hope my hours work up a ladder won’t have to be redone. Normally it should have super adhesion and super flexibility and noticeable shrinkage when dry.

Theres lots of caulk out there so you gotta tread carefully. Some caulk can mislead you. Let’s just call it a caulk jungle. Alex Plus is not perfect for all situations but it is ideal for trim and moulding.

It’s probably the easiest to apply. Super smooth is one word. But, I would not use it in a bathroom as it is not perfectly waterproof. I’ve seen it go hard and then soft again. Even a year later. What’s up with that.

And it has extra protection against mold. Those are too things you just don’t want: Hard/soft nonsense and you seriously don’t want moldy caulk. But the one thing above all it just smells dang good. It’s weird.

Better than all others. I will and have recommended Alex Plus to my friends.

Tried this product many times. Utter garbage. Doesn’t set hard. And when it does, it sets in white, not clear as advertised. Seems to be a known/recurring problem. Home Depot should listen to its customers and resolve this with the manufacturer, who seem to be making excuses that their product had no defects – nonsense! After scraping it all off, i tried MONO Silicone instead, worked perfectly first time; although it is pricey, but at least it did the job perfectly.

I only wish Home Depot would restock the GE Silicone brand which when i previously used it worked well, and cost less than the MONO brand. HD, please do something about this!.

this stuff is not to be used for anything major or important, very light duty silicone that does not hold up. also if you need a real thin bead you wont be able to put the cap back on and the whole tube will dry up.

I bought to product to patch a small cut on vinyl sheet flooring in a bathroom. Appears to be be a watertight seal. However, although dry to touch once cured, it has a rubbery feel. My concern is that with mopping the silicone will be accidentally removed.

I will have to be careful and perhaps put a bath rug over the silicone. Nonetheless, this is a good product.

So it’s pretty hard to write a review for something like this, but I’ll give it a shot. The base gasket and another gasket on my DR650 (motorcycle) had developed small oil leaks due to old age. These leaks were causing oil to drip onto my rear tire, and generally made the bike unsafe.

The dealership was asking over $500 to do both gaskets. Instead, I followed the advice of a lot of people and used this stuff. Just clean off the area you need to seal very well, scuff it up a little, smear this stuff on, and let it sit for 24 hours.

I haven’t seen a single drop of oil on my engine casing since.

Best glue on the market. Can use it for almost anything. I can even attach stones to jewelry and they stay on. Useful for repairing wood, glass, etc. I even fix wallpaper with just a small amount. I have attached prisms on antique lamp and they are still being supported by this glue after 25 years.

I use this product for mosaic. I do a lot of stained glass pieces on windows or glass table tops. It dries clear and I’ve never had a piece come loose. Stiff enough to hold pieces in place on vertical surfaces.

Also, great results outdoors gluing tile pieces on cement. It is waterproof and fine in the sun. I highly recommend this glue for any mosaic project.

I use this glue to make yard art flowers out of glassware. It’s the only glue I’ve found that holds up in the Texas heat and in freezing temperatures.

This product I believe will be a good investment, with some notable warnings. If your gap is small and not very deep, this applies and works great. But if your seem is wide and especially if your seem is deep, this product will settle into the gap and you will still have a gap to come back to that needs refilling.

If you have open ended seems you need to put a “stop” ( masking tape ) on the end of the seem to keep it from flowing out the end. If you overfill your seem, and it doesn’t settle below the seem top, and you decide to trim it down to the top of, or below top of seem, it trims well but expect it to have “bubble” holes in the area that you trim.

I like the self leveling , no tooling, aspect. It is a bit expensive if you have a large area to cover because of the self leveling aspect, you will use more of this product compared to products you have to tool after application.

It states “paintable in one hour” that is not practical, unless you are spray painting. This product will take overnight drying before brush painting is practical.
