20 Best Sides For Fried Fish (2023 Updated)

I purchase this in volume each year and share it with my fishing buddies. I live in St. Cloud and have always purchased this from the St. Cloud location. With the current inventory levels within the store, I wasn’t surprised that they didn’t have any.

The floor worker said it was on order. I asked when they expected it. He didn’t know. I asked how long it had been on order. He again didn’t know. I checked my computer and Monticello had stock, so I drove the distance to get it there.

Mills Fleet Farm used to be my favorite store to shop, but with the hapless inventory, I have been shopping at other stores more and Fleet Farm less. It’s sad to see such a nice store going downhill.

This stuff is so good. I tried it for the first time because i could not find my regularMy favorite Louisiana fish fry. Well I purchased it and never looked back at my old go too. It has my shrimp and fish so crispy with great flavor and it is not salty.

Only thing is i am so in love with this product sometimes i can’t find it in the store so when i do i buy 5 bags at at time to make sure i have some always on hand. When i use this i notice everything i cook with this product is gone no left overs.

the price is very good and i would recommend this product to anyone that love frying seafood that would have a wonderful flavor.

I have cooked fish with Andy’s Seasoning since 1989. I still don’t cook fish without using Andy’s Fish Breading. It also goes great on fried chicken when mixed with flour!!! Lol I reside in Fort Worth, TX now and purchase your products on Amazon.

I really like Joe’s Gourmet Fish Fry breading. The flavor of this seasoning is perfect, very light tasting, and easy to use. I fried my catfish and zucchini in my favorite Virgin Olive oil and it was fantastic!.

Seen this on Shark tank. I have some that better. seasoned Zarrtaran is better.

Great taste not too much seasoning but just enough to make it taste great the price was a little too high

I had tried this out for the first time a few nights ago. I loved this! we use chicken thigh fillets. just coated them, put them in the air fryer at 400, for 16 minutes and these turned out perfect!!!! I will definitly be buying this over and over again!.

You will not be disappointed! This seasoned coating mix creates a light crispy texture without masking the flavor of the fish. No greasy batter gunk. I’m sure this would also be great to use on shrimp, scallops or oysters too.

We may try it on our next seafood night! You also need to try the Louisiana Air Fry Seasoned Coating Mix for pork and chicken. It’s just as good!.

I used the Chicken Coating first. I air fried them and OMGosh. it was amazing! I couldn’t believe the flavors, the crispiness, delicious. And no deep frying! I then purchased the 6 pack with 2 fish, 2 chicken and 2 pork.

I tried the fish and again. delicious. Now pork chops tomorrow night! I blabbed all over Facebook about this product. I should by stock. hahahaha!.

Beware! Super spicy. More like Cajun rather than Creole New Orleans spices. Other than that, it’s a wonderful fish (or vegetable) fry. They corn meal is fresh and finely ground. Definitely what you need for that authentic (and HOT) Louisiana flavor.

Great product. The product arrived on time and is fresh. When coating seafood , all you have to add is seasoning. This product is unseasoned and can be used on vegetables to create a batter. The fish fry is not grainy (corn meal) like others brands I’ve used in the past.

If you don’t like a crunchy batters this is FOR YOU!.

Mixed feeling on this. I had heard amazing things about it, but was alittle disappointed. Flavor not as bold as I would have liked and absolutely no salt! I felt like it was missing something. But I still used the entire thing.

Fried up some fish and chicken. Fish was much better.

Seen these on Shark Tank, thought the price was reasonable so we order it. Have not had one thing that we have fried tastes bad. We have fried many many things fish, chicken, okra, squash just follow instructions and you have a great crispy outside.

Became so much of a new favorite at my house and visitors love it too it surprised me how many more items I’ve been buying from Sam’s Club from the frozen cod fish to frying oil and everything else that goes into making good quality fried fish dinners as long as it’s a white flaky fish such as Cod or a couple of other types white fish that has a mild flavor so that the type of fish used doesn’t get negative comments such as swamp bottom, garbage fish or questioned as cat food.

Love this product but can’t buy the fish from Sam’s anymore to have use for it.

The name Fish Fry is misleading. We use this fry mix on fish AND venison steaks, boneless chicken breasts, potatoes, etc. Basically anything you might want to pan or deep fry.

This is perfect if you like salt. A LOT of salt. I had to cut this with plain white and yellow corn meal and basically use this as seasoning. 1/3 Louisiana fish fry to 2/3 plain corn meal, then it was perfect.

HOWEVER if you like salted fish. again, it’s perfect.

Have been on a meatless protein kick lately, trying to better our diet a little bit/looking for healthy alternatives. Definitely was and still am a bit skeptical on the fishless fish! I airfried these for a fishless filet sandwich and I like the crunch/texture of the exterior— it’s reminiscent of a McDonald’s chicken nugget, but the flavor was a tiny bit off putting for me.

It has a seaweed-snack type of flavor and aftertaste that’s almost a little too fishy or artificial, for my taste. It was not bad— but just a little… off. The protein and omegas make this a great option for maintaining a healthy diet.

Overall, definitely a healthy choice for a fish alternative and I bet these would be tasty in a fishless taco! What kind of dishes have you guys used these in? I bought an extra bag because they are always sold out, and now it’s time to get creative!.

I have bought at least one bag a month (usually more) of the Fishless Fillets for years. These used to be so good I could fool my coastal born and raised family with them. The last couple of bags I have bought have been terrible.

They are mostly puffy breading now and the inside is chewy. The fillet I ate yesterday had what I can only describe as a big gristle-like center that had a strange taste. I spit it out and threw the rest away.

I’m terribly disappointed in the quality now. If Gardein goes back to making them the way they were before, I’ll continue buying them. The changes were definitely not an improvement.

I’m not vegan but I try to substitute everywhere I can. I bought these for lunch and they were yummy! I don’t want anyone who is not strictly vegan to get these under false pretense, the texture IS NOT exactly like fish.

The batter is perfect and the flavor is similar to cod. I liked the texture just fine but it is similar to a chicken nugget; not a nugget that’s a piece of chicken but one of those pressed meat chicken pattie type nuggets.

Just wanted to make sure anyone who might want to buy them gets what the texture is like before they try them. I definitely recommend them.

My Mother was a professional cook and I am considered a fine cook also. I prefer this unseasoned breading mix to any seasoned as they have to much sodium and can overpower the delicate taste of the specific seafood.

the balance of cornmeal to flour is excellent. For sone shellfish I add a bit more flour and do not add seasoning as oysters tend to be salty. For fish I add some garlic powder and some ground allspice and a tiny bit more of flour.

I always dip my fish in milk first then in the mix. Do not add salt Sauce in olive oil till crusty brown and serve with a tartar sauce made with dill relish and mayonnaise mixed. The tartar sauce will be salty enough and the results are an excellent tasting fish! the oysters do not need a milk bath but scallops may.

do not use fat free milk! It does not work. I find the quality and grind of the cornmeal and flour in Louisiana to be the best! Thank you Louisiana.

The flavoring is good and not too spicy, but it literally tastes like I fried my fish in lemon juice. I use lemon pepper and sometimes lemon juice when I run out of lemon pepper on my fish, but the lemon flavor is much too overpowering and takes away from the fish.

I doubt I will be buying this seasoning again. Update: my husband absolutely hates this seasoning. Said it’s too strong and unbearable. Definitely will not buy again.

I discovered this 15 years ago at another wholesale club. I hadn’t been able to find this till I came to BJ’S & it makes the perch that I deep fry taste awesome!! I also have made hushpuppies with some of the seasoning in the batter.

This is spicy & a little lemon you can taste in it. But, with fish, hushpuppies, deep fried whatever, gives it that “something-something” that’s sometimes missing. The size lasts quite a while so it’s a very good value at here in ohio about $6 for 5lbs.

It usually cost almost 3 to 4 dollars for a small tiny box. It doesn’t go bad, the flavor lasts in the refrigerator. I cook from scratch almost always, but this combo of spices really impresses me.

I have used this product for years. The batter is seasoned well, no need to add salt. I can no longer find this brand in my local Sam’s Club so I have to order online. This order was sent to a relative in Mississippi.

They cannot find it there, so whenever i travel there i have to take a container.

I fish a lot. And eat fish 3x per week for last 25 years. I always try new stuff. Not sure if I got a bad jug, but it mixes terrible. The consistency is hard to explain even. Doesn’t stick to or coat fish decent.

We’ve been using this for years and have not found one that compares. Most others have too much wheat flour. The cornmeal base in uncle bucks makes a good end product. Original has just the right spice level.

Used it in pan fry method as well as deep fry. Just awesome.

I bought several containers of this product, hoping that it would be as advertised. I can happily say that it exceeded my expectations and is so light and crispy that it enhances the fresh fish that I was frying and I stopped using tartar sauce because the taste was so good without anything else.

I do use avacado oil to fry my fish and the combination of this batter and the avacado oil, which handles 500 degree heat, is unbelievably good.

We tried House Autry to bread our scallops and haddock before frying with amazing results. The batter is light and flavorful which complemented the seafood to absolute satisfaction. We previously used Golden Dipt but this is much better and is a bargain in comparison.

I love the House Autry Seasonings. I am so excited that our Walmart is finally carrying them. I would buy these in Alabama when I was visiting there and mail them home to myself (in California) and now I don’t have to! They are the easiest breader to use.

Simply wet your chicken, fish or beef and dredge in the flour and place right into the fry pan to cook. No salt or pepper needed! I get compliments for everyone when I use the breader and am always asked how I made it.

We tried Louisiana Cobbler Mix when we wanted to try something new with our peach cobbler other then normal crust. I would have to say it didn’t turn out bad but it wasn’t the best i have had either.

It had a little bit of a bitter after taste which i thank may have been a bit of nutmeg in the seasoning. Other then that it bakes well and while it wasn’t quite for us I’m sure some would love it.

Bought this at my local market once, could never find it again. So I found Cajun Crate & Supply on the internet and was so delighted to find this Louisiana Cobbler Mix. It’s wonderful and easy to prepare.

this experience was horrible, the piece of fish was not fresh and it smelled as soon as i opened it, even my husband caught on because he mentioned how fishy it was and he doesn’t notice anything. I washed it and gave it to my baby to eat, she loves sashimi.

we had 40% of it left over for the next day and by the next day the fish was just not edible, it had a musty and fishy after taste and it was pretty nasty so I threw a bunch of it out (and it was not cheap so it was like literally throwing money into the garbage can) however my baby not knowing better and I myself had given the fish to her prior to tasting it myself and ate everything.

If I had known that it tasted so bad I wouldn’t have had her eat it! I was so worried, luckily she didn’t get sick but I really didn’t appreciate this experience. If the fish isn’t fresh you shouldn’t sell it especially as sashimi grade! I’ve always purchased these fish and never had a problem with it before but this time I am thoroughly disappointed, not sure if I will buy again from this experience.

I might try the other fish vendor at the farmers market in Larchmont.

I eat salmon 3x a week abs struggled with consistency in my fish and not having to always have a piece that had bones in it or was way to fishy and not a good flavorful light piece of fish. I always had to worry about quality with my fish as well as Whole Foods and other markets here just were not up to par with what I would want in a fresh fish.

I absolutely adore Nordic catch and walk every Sunday to the market to get my pieces for the week. Once you go Nordic you will never go back. Also when I run out if I go crazy with salmon which I tend to do you can get delivery in Los Angeles and it’s free if you spend $60.

I am pleased everytime I purchase salmon from Nordic catch. I grew up eating fresh live fish almost every week, so I’m very keen on whether fish is fresh or not, and the Salmon at Nordic Catch is definitely very fresh.

I’ve ordered other fish from them, such as the Artic Char and Cod ****, and the two packages that I received for those were not fresh, probably because they all come from different distributors. The salmon is always very good though, stick with the salmon!.

I fish down at our Florida home and bring fillets back to Chicago area to eat all winter long. I do a great job in preparing the fish in many different ways, and I do not like thick breading, they take away from the flavor.

I tried this mix in a different way than instructions call for. I rinsed the fish in cold water then placed them into baggie with mix inside baggie. I shook fish until coated and fried in small splash of oil in skillet.

I cooked until seeing color change, then flip them for about 3-5 minutes, this timing depends on thickness of fish. I drained on paper towel and served them. I think everyone that has eaten these at our house has never had a bad meal.

I enjoy spicy foods and added some hot pepper into mix for some of the fillets and WOW, that made them POP.

If you like beer batter for your fish, you can’t find a better one than this. My favorite for Crappie!

A cutting board is a pretty simple thing so its hard to get it too wrong or too right. All I look for is the right size, proper drainage for drippings and an easy way to move it around. Rapala checks all those boxes with this board.

One minor complaint would be that the plastic is VERY slippery when new, even though there is a texture molded into the surface. Trying to keep the fish still on this board is harder than catching the fish in the first place.

I’m assuming that once I cut on it for a season or two the coefficient of friction will increase, but it is still new and slippery as I write this. All in all it does the job, but makes it a little challenging when new.

Although advertised as a filet board, I use it as a big cutting board. I have used it to prep large portions of ribs, pulled pork, brisket, etc. and it’s held up well. It is resistant to knife gouges and cleans up easily with soapy water.

Given that it’s twice the size of a your average cutting kitchen cutting board, make sure you have enough counter space for it. I actually use mine outside most of the time so bought a folding table that is the same size as the board and use a few clamps in corners to hold it stable.

I bought two of these cutting boards. They are great quality and work well. I bought the large size because I use them for game processing also. I would recommend installing some anti slip pads on the back side to keep them from sliding around the granite counter tops.

I have had the filets with the tuscan butter for years now and love them. These taste a bit fishier. Also there isn’t much to the sides. And that presents some cooking issues. I tried from frozen first, but if you microwave it that way, the sides will overcook and burn.

So then I tried thawing it out. 3 minutes and it was much better. However, I much prefer the filets with the butter. I ordered autodelivery for this, but I’ll be cancelling that and going back to the original.

The value with the sides simply isn’t there. And the other combination provides a much nicer presentation with better flavor. For the sake of the review, I ordered the combo, so I got to try them all.

None were very good. The spinach one was most disappointing, but most likely due to my expectations. QVC used to carry a salmon stuffed with spinach that was wonderful. I’d love to have those back. Same with salmon in a pastry shell.

Great food, each individually wrapped. Please bring those back, QVC.

I ordered the salmon with peas and potatoes — it tasted good, but wanted a little more peas and potatoes and the sauce. It was recommended to thaw first, but it could be cooked from frozen. Tried both ways using the instructions provided.

Preferred microwaved from thawed state. Peas were not the best veg, to include — they were on the hard side after cooking either way. The salmon and potatoes turned out perfectly. Value for the money — that’s up to you.

Didn’t order the combo as nutritional values (fat, carbs, sodium) were too high for me in the other two options. Make sure you realize this is to be microwaved, not put in oven. It is vacuum sealed, which stays on until finished cooking.

First of all let me say the salmon portion is a nice size. As for the “sides” not so much. They are a garnish and a condiment not a side. Then there’s the cooking. If you cook long enough to have the salmon come to temperature the “sides” dry out and burn.

I tried cooking them both ways. First after thawing and second from a frozen state and followed included instructions, both ways were a fail. For the price they should give you an actual amount of the “side” to be a side which would fill the container and thus provide a more even and successful result.

It’s a shame because from what I was actually able to eat they did have good flavor. Don’t waste your money on these.

I have been purchasing this fish since Sam’s mistakenly gave it to me over a year ago. My household loved this fish and my freezer was never void of this product. It was considered a quick meal when I didn’t want to cook (add a veggie and you’re set for dinner).

But, a few weeks ago, I was not able to find the Beer Battered Cod fillets in the stores. However, a couple of weeks ago, it was back on the shelf. I bought two boxes and with each box, my family and I noticed remarkable changes.

The fillets were not consistent in size and shape, as they were previously. There were some pieces that I would call, “nuggets,” because they were so small. But most of all, the taste was not the same.

There’s something lacking and the fillets do not taste good at all. Whoever the producer of these filets are, should not put a substandard product in a box and expect people to continue to buy it. Sadly, I will not purchase this product again.

I prepared these filets in my air fryer following directions. I found that I had to increase the cooking time considerably to eliminate that mushy texture often found with oven baked fish. I don’t think it was my air fryer as I used a Philips Premium, ensured adequate space between the fillets and followed directions.

Usually the Philips does an excellent job of simulating a deep fryer with crispy yet moist results. I also like a bit more flavor from cod fillets. Overall I give these fillets a good rating but frankly Gortons’s fish sticks have more flavor.

Firstly, these so called fillets were nothing more than small, broken bits and pieces of battered fish (those pieces that were actually battered). There were NO actual fillets in the box. The taste was disgusting.

and that’s putting it mildly. We cooked the entire box at the same time, but some of the fish was very tough, old and chewy while other pieces were extremely mushy and soggy. Some of the pieces weren’t even battered.

I wish I had taken photos of this product before and after cooking. I have since contacted Sam’s Club to request a refund and will not be purchasing this product again.

I use this as my 3rd rub application to all my smoked Salmon, The 2nd application is your Salmon Seasoning. The primary rub is a home-made salmon rub that I found bin one of my Steven Raichlen BBQ cook books; it still uses alot of the spices I get from you.

I’ve used this spice a very long time and LOVE it! It’s my favorite spice blend! I use it on all my vegees, Sprinkle it on macaroni salad and on chicken & fish. I was very disappointed bout the name change since it is used for so much more than fish & Ive always known it as “Ruth Ann’s muskego”.

I first received this blend ( under the name of Penzy,s Spices ) and we love it on everything from eggs to veggies and in soups ). I did not want to support Penzy’s, so I did a little research and found it at your company.

Will be ordering more soon, we love this stuff!.
